Time travel AU that starts out as a normal, standard Obi-Wan Is Twelve Again, then veers WILDLY to the left with the arrival of Ky Narec and a 5yo Ventress who very much remembers being an adult and while she's not evil anymore, she DOES have terrible impulse control and a horrible tendency to bite Obi-Wan in particular (also Dooku)
I'm imagining Obi-Wan's still an Initiate himself. The exhibition fight with Bruck hasn't even happened yet.
"Bitch, are you teething?" She is long past teething, Obi-Wan is just being Rude.
Bruck tries to bully Obi-Wan, who doesn't even CARE, but Ventress DOES and Bruck doesn't get the affectionate play bites. He gets Former Sith Stole A Saber And Is Coming For His Ass.
Horrible little girl with more murders in her ledger than People Met in Bruck's.

Battle of Short Kings (I've decided I'm gonna make them sorta enemies to friends in the dragon!jedi AU cause that is a trope I love, and for some reason, I like the dynamic they could have)
They constantly argue about their height, meanwhile, everyone in their lineage is a literal giant

Xanatos isn’t quite sure how he ended up becoming The Designated Babysitter of Feral Younglings but he resents Mace for telling him he deserves it.
Or: Xanatos does not Fall. Instead, he realizes that family is more than blood and that home is more than an empty house waiting for you to return. Home, he learns, is built from love. It is a pair of open arms, ready to catch you when you fall. It is teasing smiles and kisses pressed upon your brow. It is reassurances and promises fulfilled. It is someone willing to tell you the truth even when it hurts, and it is someone who will be kind to you when the whole galaxy is not.
Home is someone who loves you. So much so, that they’ll let you go.
So no, Xanatos does not Fall, and he thinks it’s all going rather well up until time-traveling younglings start falling into his lap.

Xanatos: *filming Obi-Wan and Bruck wrestling* I don’t even try and stop them anymore. Qui-Gon can discipline them, I’m just gonna let them kick each other’s asses.
Bruck: *sitting on Obi-Wan’s back, looks victorious for exactly half a second before flying through the air as the other gets up, launches right back at him*
Xanatos: It’s like watching kittens. Can’t really stop them anyways.

Jedi!Xanatos trains Anakin
Xanatos didn’t fall to the Dark Side on Talos IV but Qui-Gon thought he did and still repudiated Xanatos and Feemor and swore to never take on another padawan ever again.
Years go by and Xanatos spent a lot of that time with mind healers. Xanatos eventually meets an Initiate who is a fellow Telosian with quite a few of the same or similar struggles and issues he did and so took Bruck Chun on as a padawan and got home mind healing.
This fixed some of the issues for Obi-Wan, but he was still sent to Bandomeer as an Agricorps member on the same ship as Qui-Gon on the hopes of being Yoda’s great grandpadawan. Obi-Wan still ends up enslaved, but this time by Bruck’s dad.
Bruck’s dad believed he was cheated out of an heir by giving the son who ended up being his only child to the Jedi after he ended up being the leader of Telos IV after Crion’s death and the immediate fallout. So Bruck’s dad kidnaps a Jedi child about the same age as his son in a weird mix of wanting Obi-Wan as a replacement and wanting to get back at the Order.
This confusion meant that he had Obi-Wan working in the mines. After some time has passed (a bit on the longer side so close to a few months), Obi-Wan learns the Amivakkan culture and a little bit of the languages. This is actually sooner this most new slave as life expectancy is significantly shorter in the deep sea mines. Everything else stays the same and Obi-Wan is Qui-Gon’s padawan. This makes him padawan siblings to Bruck Chun (as they are closest in age) and lineage siblings to Xanatos and Feemor (as they are trained by the same Master).
Even though Xanatos and Feemor were repudiated by Qui-Gon, they still manage to have a close bond to Obi-Wan (maybe through a long mission together or they teach classes that Obi-Wan takes or its because Bruck and Obi-Wan have a lot of classes together). Xanatos and a Bruck are the ones who persuade Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to get mind healing. This changes some things.
The change that really matters is Xanatos and Bruck’s. After what happened to his padawan brother as a junior padawan, when Bruck becomes a senior padawan, he want to go after slavers, become a Shadow, and take down his father and Offworld. It takes a lot of persuading, but Xanatos agrees.
The big difference comes in TPM when meeting Anakin. At this point, Bruck has been knighted and Xanatos is without a padawan. Qui-Gon does not die, but is badly injured and won’t be able to train Anakin. Obi-Wan offers to become his Master, but Xanatos comes in and becomes Anakin’s Master instead. This gives Anakin a Master who understands coming to the Temple late and will get him the mind healing he needs, a lineage brother trained in breaking slave rings and supporting former slaves, and a lineage uncle who was enslaved and knows his language and culture. Bruck was never in the right space in the situation long enough to be trusted and safely taught the language and culture.
I’m undecided how the rest of the franchise changes with this new support. If you do end up making a story based on this, please tag me!

Random Starwars idea
133. Dooku doesn't take that last apprentice, Komari; instead, he's free and clear when Jinn comes back to the temple with a new padawan and takes an interest in Bruck Chun, Obi-Wan's rival.

Guess what I'm still here! Had a little free time so I started drawing more sw characters and their dragon forms for my Dragon!jedi Au
Here's Bruck (I'm still on the fence about giving him a redemption arc in this AU but we'll see). In my eyes bruck is THE short king btw
When they're kids his dragon form is bigger than Obi-wan's, and he is also one of the first winged dragons from their Creche to learn to fly (Just some of the reasons he bullies Obi-wan, since he is the last one from their age group to learn to use his wings) But ends up being on the smaller side compared to other adult's dragon form's (Including Obi-wan's)
Also, he is not dying in this AU (considering the whole Xanatos arc is scrapped here) but again, I haven't decided on whether or not I want him to stay a Jedi

You say that and my mind jumps to "if it doesn't work on children, we have room for 14yo Jango to semi-accidentally kidnap 5yo Obi-Wan because he wants a baby brother, and it's not like the trandoshan that stole this kid from... somewhere? in the first place was treating him great."
Jaster and Montross are both greatly affected, and Jango is confused about why the adults are acting so weird.
Obi-Wan just wants to go back to the crèche, he didn't MEAN to wander off and get kidnapped during the field trip to the museum! He just wanted to look at the pretty rocks! Someone please take him back to the Temple.
AU where Xanatos is "redeemed by the power of cute," but it's actually a psychological whammy caused by Obi-Wan being supernaturally adorable as a species-specific juvenile defense mechanism, and is functionally immediate brainwashing by the 13yo who doesn't know that's what he's doing.
Tbh this is mostly just Defense Mechanism that makes Xanatos harmless, but in a way everyone finds very concerning and uncomfortable because it's kind of mind control.
Someone (@dracothulhu) asked if it was related to Mimic Spider AU, and it is not! Mimic spider AU is just "ohhhh you wanna fuck me so b--PSYCH! EATING YOU."
This is more "I'm a little baby, I'm SUCH a little baby, you don't want to hurt me, you could never hurt me, I'm so adorable I'm so cute doesn't it just kill you to think about hurting me?"
Mimic spider AU is just Hot and Confident. This is straight up Mind Whammie.
@threebea also thought brood parasitism, and offered:
I'm trying to figure out a reason for the Stewjoni to have like brood parasitism where they will stick their young with other families for awhile before picking them up Used to do it to Mandoalorians all the time, and it's part of the reason the Mandalorian adopt anything stereotype got so strong. Stewjoni looking at Jedi: those seem parent shaped here you go
Which is great, except I actually started with the idea of it being kind of the inverse!
(That said, I won't actually say no to the brood parasitism option.)
Xanatos: had been about to kidnap and put him on a deep sea mine now is feeding him pudding Is it he's acting normal but doing weird things or is he suddenly talking to Obi-Wan like he's an adorable puppy
He's kind of zoned out.
Xanatos: look at him so cute Omg Obi-Wan: standing there Xanatos: kriff I don't have a camera - also from threebea
Also cuddles! Which Obi-Wan actually Does Not Want. But if he's Very Very Still then maybe Qui-Gon will find him and fix this.
Like if a tiger held and groomed you and you just were waiting Very Still for the zookeeper to distract it and/or load up the tranq.
After the days he's had he'd perhaps like a cuddle but not from this guy Lol Xanatos: so soft The effect only works on humans and near humans so it didn't work on the hutt and (can't remember the other species) on the ship
We can say it works through the Force and that's why the Hutt is immune.
"Stewjoni are targets of slavers" but specifically for illegal adoptions. It's lucrative, because most bounty hunters last about twenty seconds before they give the crying baby back where it wants to go.
And most of the immune ones get caught by planetary defense forces.
So if you CAN steal a baby, the profit margin is insane, since it's so damn hard to do, but the baby up for illegal adoption is sooooo cute.
(…this concept would be hilarious with one of those "Tor adopts baby Ben Kenobi to turn into a weapon" AUs. Still a shitty childhood bc Death Watch can justify a lot under the umbrella of Teaching Self-Defense. But interesting.)
IF YOU HAVE READ TWILIGHT: do you remember the bit about vampire babies being so cute that people would let them slaughter entire villages without a qualm?
It's like that, except Obi-Wan doesn't have dreams of mass slaughter and it only really activates as a Threat Response.
I guess the evolutionary trigger is it's kind of a paralytic You can't move far from where you stole the kid
Which is exactly right!

They had hated each other since they were kids. In the book, Brook was Obi-Wan's first victim. Brook was the one who taught Obi-Wan to choose between two evils.
In the fic, he didn't make that choice.
