there are the insane quick changes of which we have: joey richter himself playing what i can only assume to be the entire population of independence (plus an ox) in one song:

and then, of course, the master himself, brosenthal, playing frankly 80% of the cast, but ESPECIALLY in this one scene. ONE SCENE:

“oh but joey left the scene for some of the quick changes in tto, he can’t do that if the spankoffski bros are supposed are supposed to have a conversation” FINE, the other option: just play two characters at once. which starkid has done before.

joey did already. play two different characters at once. i’m not here to argue the semantics or implications about personhood of saying confrontation and let it go has two different characters each, i’m just saying, acting-wise, there’s two distinctive characters in both songs. like. guys. absolutely joey could just simply play both of them simultaneously. they literally do this all the time. what’s your excuse now

Spies are Forever: The West End Concert - 03.09.24

it's crazy to me that Spies Are Forever, a musical which has a jewish guy playing a nazi with a Hitler puppet on his hand and glitter in his pockets... also somehow has a scene between the lead character and his ex-friend now great enemy, which reveals for certain that they used to be gay lovers, that goes "what about our secret? the moments we shared, the feelings we had... for each other" "that secret died the night you left me for dead" to a quiet smoke filled stage, before the lead character shoots his ex dead, like... what?

You know, I get that not all Starkid fans have chosen to make the leap over to join the Tin Can fam as well. A lot of the newer Hatchetfield fans in particular are just here for that one particular tiny town in Michigan. And that's fine! Like what you like! Fandom how you want! Still, I would like to say two things:

1) Now is the perfect time to give all the awesome stuff TCB has to offer a chance, and

2) Starkid, and therefore our beloved Hatchetfield, owe so much specially and specifically to Joey, Corey, AND Brian.

Obviously Joey is one of the main Faces of Hatchetfield and his performances as Ted, Wilbur, Pete, Ethan, and Dan are all so iconic and beloved. Seriously, can you imagine Ted being as watchable in the hands of someone else? He’s also done great work in so many other Starkid projects.

Meanwhile Corey has been so vital behind the scenes. He designed the iconic sets for TGWDLM and Black Friday (the mind-blowing moment when the set BECOMES Wiggly? That was HIM)! Over the years this man has designed most of the sets, he has directed (VHSCC! ❤️), he has assistant directed, he has overseen social media and massive kickstarters, he has produced. As one of Starkid’s main behind-the-scenes creatives, Corey has done a huge amount of the extremely vital but not particularly fun or flashy work. His job is traditionally a pretty thankless one and we should pour gratitude in his direction.

And Brian. He gave us the Award-winning sound design for TGWDLM, but also I personally think he is one of the main actors responsible for Starkid existing the way it does. This whole company and fandom all go back to AVPM, that lightning-in-a-bottle show that was so strangely magnetic we’ve been able to build everything else on top of it. I’ve seen a lot of Potter parodies over the years, and I genuinely believe that the number one factor that gave AVPM its unparalleled magic was the Voldemort and Quirrell storyline. Without Quirrellmort, I’m not sure AVPM would have taken off as it did, and it’s quite likely Starkid would never have existed. And Brian, as Quirrel, was essential to pulling off and selling that extraordinary bit of plot.

So, yeah, even if you’re only a Starkid fan, or even just a Hatchetfield fan, you’ve benefitted massively from the tireless work Joey, Corey, and Brian have put into those things we love. If you can, giving even 3 or 4 bucks to their Tinlightenment kickstarter would be a lovely way to say “thanks” for bringing us fifteen years of Starkid magic and especially that Tiny Town of Hatchetfield.

TLDR; The Tin Can Bros have all specially and specifically contributed to the existence of Hatchetfield and Starkid as a company, and, if you can, giving to their kickstarter is a great way for Starkid fans, even those who don’t follow TCB, to say thanks!😊

Imagine unknowingly dating a serial killer (also your brothers brother), almost getting murdered by said serial killer, going to therapy to deal with the trauma, getting through 2 sessions before your therapist declares that youre in love with your ACTUAL brother, going through all the stages of denial before finally coming to terms with the fact that you ARE in love with your brother, mustering up the currage to confess but instead catching him in the middle of a homicide because he too, is a serial killer

Anyway the Spies are Forever concert made me extremely happy. I loved everyone in their roles and honestly Joey’s ad-libbing at the start of Act 2 was my personal highlight along with The Torture Tango and One Step Ahead (Dean, Obioma and Oliver were all fantastic). Honestly it makes me teary eyed because I backed Spies are Forever all the way back in 2015 and to see it on stage was a dream come true. Especially with so many of my favourite West End actors filling out the roles (Jak and Claire are comic geniuses as always). But also just getting to see Joey and Brian perform in a musical I hold so dear in my heart, was incredible. Starkid and TCB got me through my teenage years and to be able to see Spies on a West End stage restored something in my soul.

An unfortunate trend I’ve been seeing in my blorbos from recent fandoms

EDIT: Some important clarification below on the characters tagged in the og post

While this is obviously open to interpretation to any fandoms/ocs, all but one of the ‘B’ characters I tagged was referring to personal headcanons on their dynamic with A and their initial reactions (so roughly the first few months of A’s disappearance). Over time, I do believe a lot of them eventually learn to move on and/or develop healthy coping mechanisms. 

That being said unhealthy co-dependancies are narratively engaging to others as well so go wild in the reblog tags.
