As I was watching Beetlejuice the musical last Friday in Dallas, very early on in the show, I was struck by the horrifying realization that I was attracted to Beetlejuice. I absolutely loved the show, 110% my current hyperfixation, but the entire time I was growing more and more concerned about my feelings for the character who is canonically gross and horrible. Even the next day, I was still seriously concerned about this attraction. Enough so that I hopped in the interwebs to see if I was the only one.

Anyway, very happy to report that I am far from the only one and that there are plenty of other individuals out there just as weird and messed up as I am. I may not know you or ever speak to any of you, but bless all y'all for sharing my attraction to the absolute disaster of a demon. I'm sure there is probably some underlying psychological issue to explain this, but I'm not gonna worry about it and just enjoy my crush/hyperfixation like a proper, well-adjusted adult.

first mama curtis absolutely BAWLED her eyes out fr. the baby that made her a mama graduating high school!!! & papa curtis clapping his son on the shoulder telling him how proud he is to see the man he’s become. esp bc maybe neither of his parents even graduated themselves; maybe he was The first out of the whole family to graduate high school!! imagine how momentous!!!!! idk what they’d buy but they probably picked up a handful of extra shifts between the two of them the months leading up and got him nice lil grad gifts

idk if pony and soda at 12 and 14 really understood the gravity of how big of a deal it was for a greaser like darry to graduate high school (esp soda who hates school anyway), esp as boy of the year and football team captain along w college scholarships, but they probably give him hugs and are a lil less annoying than usual on graduation day (they’re just in it for the cake tbh)

i def also think darry got to go to a senior grad barbecue sort of thing with the socs, was probably one of his last real good memories with that friend group before they all went away to college!

and.. did you want the canon darry & paul thoughts i have or my insane parasite gay darry/paul thoughts. bc… very different im afraid 😭

one thing i’m genuinely anxious about when i go to see the outsiders again is that they have an audio description (i’m blind so i kinda need it to actually know what’s going on, even if i am sitting in the front row, which i feel kinda bad fir sitting in such a special spot next to the ponyboy seat since i can’t see anyway so i feel kinda selfish for buying that ticket now but anyhoo, another cent for another day) but i’m lowkey kinda scared that me being in the front row with an audio description with one of the buds in my ears so i know what’s going on, i’m nervous someone might mistake it for a phone or that i’m listening to music or whatever and now idk what to do

I really love musical Duke but there is one thing I think the movie did better.

Movie Duke is pathetic, right? He is pathetic and sad and embarrassing and the audience is supposed to understand how pathetic this little man is. We’re supposed to laugh, because he’s made to be mousy and unattractive, hiding behind his wealth and power to get a woman who is clearly stringing him along. We are supposed to forget that he is a threat, because he is just so ridiculous- until he isn’t.

Until Satine rejects him, so he goes to rape her and threatens to blow Christian’s head off. Until he sends Warner to actually murder the man standing in his way, and we (and Satine) are reminded, oh shit- this man is dangerous.

Because men feeling rejected is a threat to women.

@sillysadduck I hope you know what you’ve done! You made two or three posts abt a Matilda/dhmis mashup and it has infected my brain! 😠

I think it works especially well w the theory that red and yellow are related in some way and they were all humans at some point. I personally like to think of him as an older brother that was forced to take a parental role but here he would be serving the same function as Ms. Honey.

David/yellow is obviously Matilda but I think here he would lean more towards his charged personality in this case. He doesn’t 100% understand what’s happening around him but he knows it’s bad and he wants to stop it. But I think if this were to be more of a story, it would focus more on his family/parents than school.

Basically the entire Quiet song fits perfectly, I was going to post some lyrics but really it’s all of them. Him wondering if he’s different than his friends and getting overwhelmed by his home life. Naughty also works very well. Referencing all the different stories he’s read and using words much too large for his age. And David singing When I Grow Up while red fights with his parents downstairs. Red finally giving up and going upstairs, singing ms honeys verse at the end, and David hears him and decides he needs to do something about it.

Maybe I’ll get around to drawing it eventually but I can’t pick just one part of the song to do, I have to animate the whole song! And I don’t have time for that rn! I wanted u to know that this idea has DESTROYED me and When I Grow Up has made me cry several times this week

okay so. i have started writing Other Fic but i just finished watching the actual musical and kind of want to write…. pony realizing several years after johnny dies how he Really Felt about him and going through it w soda and darry/them helping him realize it bc they are the brothers ever. and also this show needs to be far more gay. would anyone tune in. smiles 🤗
