Marvel Studios is an American film and television production company. Marvel Comics is an American comic book publisher.

As of the current date, the official BDS Movement has called for a Boycott of Marvel Studios upcoming Captain America film that features a zionist Israeli character who supports apartheid. There has been zero mention of Marvel Comics - or anything else Marvel - in either of their two statements I can currently find mentioning "Marvel" on their website, unless something is missing from that tag.

April 27, 2023: "Palestinians call for widespread boycotts of Marvel’s 2024 film, Captain America: New World Order, unless it drops Sabra/Ruth Bat-Seraph, its “superhero” that personifies the apartheid state of Israel. ... We encourage creative, peaceful protests to challenge Marvel Studios’ – and its owner Disney’s – complicity in anti-Palestinian racism, Israeli propaganda, and the glorification of settler-colonial violence against Indigenous people. ... We urge conscientious audiences worldwide to join us in boycotting Captain America: New World Order, and standing up for freedom, justice and equality."

November 23, 2023: "Marvel’s next Captain America film features Sabra/Ruth Bat-Seraph, a “superhero” personifying apartheid Israel. The character’s backstory includes working for the genocidal Israeli government and its occupation forces. By reviving this racist character in any form, Marvel is promoting Israel’s oppression of Palestinians. It is complicit in anti-Palestinian racism, Israeli propaganda, and glorifying settler-colonial violence. Tell Marvel you won’t buy its toys, clothes or accessories."

It is my understanding that the only way a boycott will work is if it's organized and targeted - thus the reason for BDS in the first place. The demand was that Marvel Studios remove the Israeli character from the film. Since the demand has not been met, then the boycott remains in place. But boycotting some random comic book writer's work and some comic book shop that makes pennies, with nothing to do with the MCU, is not what is being organized at this time.

The character in question hasn't even been featured in comics in 10 years - though of course she never should have been created in the first place. But Marvel Studios is choosing to pull her out of nowhere, when they have thousands and thousands of characters they could adapt instead. Please boycott Captain America: Brave New World (formerly titled New World Order) set to come out February, 2025, even if you're a Sam Wilson fan.

Marvel picked MY fucking short story, "Lost Cause," to be the official excerpt for the updated announcement of the Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson anthology.

San Diego Comic Con is winding down and as usual Saturday's Hall H haul was newsworthy.

There was the expected: teases from upcoming films THUNDERBOLTS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

and FANTASTIC FOUR.

Now with a subtitle: FANATASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS

Out with the old FF, onto the new.

and a big surprise - to me. Apparently, there has been scuttlebutt for nearly two months about this -Robert Downey Jr's return to the MCU.

Not as Tony Stark, but as Doctor Doom.

panel and new trailer for THE PENGUIN.

It was confirmed that Colin Farrell will reprise his role in THE BATMAN sequel which is to start filming next year.

Not announced during the panel or shown in the new trailer is confirmation on what was announced in September: Mark Strong has taken over the role of Carmine Falcone from John Turturro. Strong was scene in a video that played in THE PENGUIN activation (the activation that was briefly evacuated for a time on Friday due to a fire).

-Speaking of THE PENGUIN, in the animated series BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER, Penguin will be genderswapped and voiced by Minnie Driver. Meet Oswalda Cobblepot.

Driver will also sing in the show. Years ago one of her songs was even used on SMALLVILLE.

ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN will introduce Superboy.

Jack Quaid repping (who voices Superman) repping Supes.

Another thing not mentioned during Comic Con, but on IG. Found in a post by PEACEMAKER director Peter Sollet was his announcement of completing his first week on the series and thanked the cast, including Joel Kinnaman whose Rick Flagg met his demise in THE SUICIDE SQUAD. Surely a flashback and no comic book chicanery.

Sloane Mallory Croix is a Nobody.

Sloane is a nobody. She was born in Belgium to her immigrant Congolese parents, then was uprooted at 14 when her family moved to the US. Always on the move, she never found a home and never found herself. She had nowhere to root her identity in except one constant in her life: nature. Whether it was a marsh behind a parking lot, the weeds beside a playground, or an old tree in the backyard, there was always a little ecosystem with plants and critters to be found. No matter where she was, they were always there, and they were always there for her. The second constant in her life was the emptiness of never being at home, and of never being oneself -- you can't be what you don't know. And since nature was all she knew, nature was all she pursued until she obtained her PhD. But despite her passion, all it got her was a dead-end research job that was more underfunded by the year until it was fully cut. Jobless, her parents began nagging about how she, someone who was supposed to be a fully functioning adult by now, couldn't keep secluding herself in her own world and ecosystems forever. They told her she needed to find a job even if she hated it, that she needed to ground herself in reality. Sloane's answer to her parents' pleas came from the stars. Project MORPHO was the perfect opportunity for Sloane: researching brand new ecosystems and securing artificial, terraformed ecosystem on a distant planet far, far away from what never was home was perfect. The project became her third constant, and she sunk her roots deep into it. She did everything she could to meet Hartwell Corp's qualifications, spending months and months on specialised training. For the first time, she felt true excitement. The loneliness she endured, the emptiness she carried, the diligence behind her degrees: it all would have finally been worth something. And maybe this time, she could start anew. Maybe this time, she could finally start living. Until she wakes up too late 300 years later.

I joined a Mothership RPG westmarches that started this morning at 7am, and I had to rush like hell to come up with a character because I've been so busy. So here's Sloane! She's extremely Southern Cross inspired. This was rushed but I'll work on her design slowly over time (1 year campaign and all)
