Martin Itjen's House. Broadway between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue. The building serves as the NPS and Parks Canada Trail Center, and is one of the first structures visitors to the park arriving by ship see. Originally it stood on piers by the wharf, completed in 1902, and is reminiscent of homes built for railway employees. In 1922, it was sold to Martin Itjen who had learned to profit from the summer tourist trade by greeting passers-by and selling tours of the town's attractions. Relocation of railway tracks in 1946 isolated the house, which after two intermediate moves ended up on Sixth. NPS acquired the structure in 1978, moving it to its current position 300 feet (92 m) west of its original location. Restoration was completed in 1991 to return the home to the 1921-1941 period.

Verbauwhede's Cigar Store, Confectionery, and Cribs. Broadway between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. Frederick Verbauwhede originally opened a store selling cigars and confections here in 1898, and in 1902 moved one-story "cribs" behind the store from their previous location between Fourth and Fifth where they housed prostitutes. A gunsmith, jeweler, gas station and travel agency occupied the premises at one time or another through 1977 when NPS purchased the buildings. Restored in 1986, the cigar store is leased to a private business while the cribs are used by the park's law enforcement operations.

Boas Tailor & Furrier Shop. Broadway between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. As the name implies, it was formerly, though briefly, a furrier, topped by a traditional high wooden false front as seen in other western towns in the United States and Canada. After a series of other business, it was sold to NPS in 1978 with period restoration completed in 1986. It is now leased to private business to encourage a feeling of Skagway as a center of bustling business activity.

My favorite duo that I miss dearly, and barely have content of is Jōnō and Tachihara. They're such wasted potential istg. Tachihara is bothered by being supposedly 'not very smart'–which I heavily disagree with–and you know who could make up for that? Jōnō. Jōnō is the brain and Tachihara is the brawn, but their capability isn't limited to just that. Yes, Tetchō and Jōnō fit this description too, but to me, the unexplored battle potential of Tachihara's and Jōnō's combined Abilities is just so much more intriguing. With the very few interactions we got of them in canon, I can't help but imagine them having some brothers bonding time but it's military lab rats style. Also no one can convince me that they're not sent out on undercover missions the most, like they're both incredible actors; they'd fool Mōri, which Tachihara already did. Even Dazai could take a while to realize them. They're my power duo ever though I don't think we'll see them again for a while now. (If ever ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ)

Buddy Valastro was asked by the Friars Club to bake a cake for Betty White. He said that he would bake a life sized cake for her. Then they dropped the bomb on him and told him that he had only one day. Buddy and his team stayed up all night and created this cake for Betty. She loved it!! I think the Ralph, Buddy's sculptor, did a great job making her head. Betty said that she wanted the dress that they created for her cake. 😉 She was a great woman who made us laugh and helped animals in need. Bless you, Betty RIP 🙏🏼 😍😊

Alright everyone! We reward people for a job well done around here and since there were no injuries I made some lemon raspberry macarons for you all. If that’s not your speed I also made some brown butter chocolate chunk cookies.

oooo what mafia au or mafia stories prompted the post??

I've read quiiite a lot of mafia boss fics throughout the years that contributed to such thoughts lolol buuut my thoughts were triggered today by a flower shop/mafia boss fic. It's an Ateez fic. I don't remember if you're into kpop or not, so not sure you'd have interest in it, but I'll send it to you if you are.

Honestly don't think I've ever read a mafia boss fic with Dick. Maybe a crime family fic with him and a few of the other bats. That was a longgg time ago though, don't even remember the story. I never really seek out fics where the bats are on the opposite side of the law, but if I happen to stumble across them, I'll take a look and see if they interest me.

No but in another fandom there was a mafia boss fic where the antagonist chopped off the SO's finger and sent it to the mafia boss in a box, and that's the type of shit that makes those fics so good.

It's almost Thanksgiving so it's time to see Buddy Valastro's turkey cake!!!

This is gonna be a huge cake, as you can see.

Ralph, Buddy's head sculptor, had made a gorgeous turkey face and body. They then adorned the base of the cake with Thanksgiving themed items.

The end result is this gorgeous turkey cake. Buddy has Ralph and his staff make this cake for all the people who work at Carlos's Bakery. He has a very grand way of thanking them all. He made this great cake and also cooked them a wonderful meal as a surprise to say thank you to them all for their hard work all year and during the holidays.

Buddy made 4 huge hams and all the fixings for his staff. As you can see in the last photo, a lot of sampling went on prior to serving the hams. 😁🤣 The thing that i love the most about Buddy is that he's all about family, and he knows how important it is to be thankful for others, and he always thanks them in a big way!! I love that because that's how I am. Then again, I was raised in NY by Italians so I know about respect and family very well. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!! Gobble, gobble!! That's my plan!! 😁😍😋
