While growing up I have read a lot of thriller/suspense/ murder mysteries. This however was my first psychological thriller. If you haven't read this one, then this HAS to be your next read. No matter what, you can't/you should not miss this one. The twist in the book will definitely blow your mind. I honestly remember reading that line from the book around five times to confirm what just happened. A complete page-turner where one tends to guess what's going to happen next but alas ends up being wrong.
I need to say it READ THIS BOOK. I am adding this to my top ten picks.
Recently I was adding different genres to my TBR in order to be a more versatile reader but boy I can't give up my love for thrillers.
And this goes without saying that though this was my first book of @alex.michaelides but it won't be the last. 📚✨📝📚😍🤩🥰 #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #bookreview #goodbooks #goodreads #thrillers #thetravellingbookwormm #booksandcoffee #books #swipeleft #readers #booksofinstagram #bookmarks #goodbooks #topten #fav #lovereading #readersgonnaread #bookoftheyear #lovereader #reads #reading #passion #booklover #thesilentpatient 🥹🤫😱😶‍🌫️🤯✨💯🔥💥💚💛❤️📚📝😘

Do you have a favorite for the year??
What about least favorite?
Here are my favorite books from each month along with my favorite from the year.
Deciding which book to be my number one was very difficult.
I do plan on continuing with The Dragon Republic trilogy in 2022.
See any books that made it in your top books of the year??
As much as I love seeing the book covers printed out, this page ended up being a mess. Next year I am going to do the bracket layout instead of this one. Curious to see how that will go.

I have read Wilson Hurley’s newest work “Compassion’s Compass” cover to cover several times since it first fell in my hands, and it has quickly become an invaluable addition to my library. Hurley has managed to blend his secular knowledge and experiences skillfully and seamlessly as a professor and social worker with his knowledge and experience of Tibetan Buddhist practices of training the mind. At first, I saw this as a wonderful workbook and tool for anyone working in the mental health, social justice, and educational fields. But, as I continued to review, I realized it is a must have for anyone and everyone dealing with people going through difficult situations. Hurley has provided us with clear, concise, straightforward strategies and solutions that we can use daily to help us develop our basic human kindness, love and empathy not just towards others but towards ourselves as well. -Jessica Pimentel, Actress/musician

📚 #christmaseve #bookoftheyear #christmaseve2021 Ever since I heard about the tradition of Icelandic tradition of #Jolabokaflod, I have loved the idea of spending Christmas eve cozied up with a book and chocolate. Particularly during #COVIDChristmww It has become something of a tradition for me to pick my #bookoftheyear around this time. This year, I am picking another audiobook and one that I profoundly loved. Nobel Heat is a nine hour audio workshop on ways to open your mind and stretch your heat by Buddhist teacher #PemaChödrön. When I listened to this, it was EXACTLY what I needed to hear and exactly the right time. I will forever associate this workshop with summer strolls along my favourite prairie paths and quiet afternoons by the Bow River. Thanks to COVID, this year has been difficult in ways that were previously unimaginable. This audiobook was precisely the catalyst my life needed to rise up to meet the strange realities that COVID has brought us. The teachings are wise and gentle -- as are the teacher -- and the impact profoundly heart opening and grounding. _________ “Whether we’re seeking inner peace or global peace or a combination of the two, the way to experience it is to build on the foundation of unconditional openness to all that arises. Peace isn’t an experience free of challenges, free of rough and smooth, it’s an experience that’s expansive enough to include all that arises without feeling threatened.” — Pema Chödrön #audiobooks #iamreading #booklover #books #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #myyearinbooks #peacebychocolate #chocolate #chocolatelovers https://www.instagram.com/p/CX4Bf-LpPfZ/?utm_medium=tumblr

well! that was a ride. the novel is split into two stories: george, a girl in the 1960s who is distraught by the recent death of her mother, and francescho, a gender fluid artist in the 1460s. smith (very cleverly) had ‘how to be both’ published so that the novel begins in separate places for readers, depending on their edition. my personal copy started with george’s story. i loved george’s plot line and the sexual frustration betwixt her and H. francescho’s story was interesting, but it did not grip me - if the narratives had been the other way, there is a chance i would’ve put this down and never finished it. it’s an excellent piece of literature, but relies too heavily on blurring the lines of reality and fiction to be coherent. 3.5/5 ⭐️ #book #books #bookstagram #ukbookstagram #alismith #howtobeboth #scotland #scottishliterature #manbooker #goldsmithsprize #bookoftheyear #fiction #contemporaryfiction #queerliterature https://www.instagram.com/p/CLcnII1FNJc/?igshid=10vz2gb0wtanx

TOP 5 BOOKS OF 2020!
Number 1:
It wasn’t a tricky decision picking my favourite book of the year. Nothing quite matched up to Mr Wilder & Me by Jonathan Coe. It was a different feel to his normal style but it was so comforting. Reading this was just a lovely all round experience.
As a lover of film, I was always going to enjoy this look back at the career of Hollywood film director, Billy Wilder. It was a great piece of cinematic history with a heavy dose of fiction to keep things going. It was a love letter to the director and to a bygone era of cinema. Although, what it really ends up being is a feel-good story.
There is no real drama or tension in this book. It’s just a lot of nice characters coming together and having a good time. It follows a central theme of feeling old and past your prime, which is something that everyone can understand. However, it is also a celebration of life. A celebration of every kind of achievement whether that is big or small.
This might not seem as complex or even as important a book as Coe’s previous work. Whether that makes it inferior in your mind depends on what kind of reader you are. For me, this is everything that I love about reading. I was absorbed in the narrative from the start and the writing was captivating. I think there was plenty of depth within all of the characters and plenty of things everyone can relate to. It is full of live and passion. No book has filled me with quite so much joy for a long time.
