whenever I watch a really cool film about blackness full of beautiful and talented black actors and telling very black story - or like. ANY media centered around POC with little white presence, tbh - I’m always so excited to see some cool analyses or gifsets from tumblr about it and am inevitably disappointed when I see only a couple posts with like maybe 24 notes each.

unless there’s some famous British white boy in it for more than 0.2 seconds in which case it’ll boost it up to like ~75 on average with over 70% of the posts being thirst posts about the white dudes.

i shouldn’t be surprised when this happens at this point and yet I still manage to be disappointed

This was the last book I read in Nov.

This is about a girl who’s friend has gone missing and when the police and town have started to give up on finding her alive, the main character wakes up to find a phone on her porch with a text message from her missing friend. This day is about to make the main character question just how well she knew her friend, and if she truly wants her back.

I loved this book. This was one of the my most anticipated books, and it’s definitely one of my top twenty for the year. The writing was great, and this whole book takes the span of a day.

I found the structure of the chapters and parts to be reminiscent of the older Stephen King works, and I really appreciated it. I think if you are thinking of picking up or have read The Swarm by Andy Marino; I recommend picking this up alongside it.

If you read this- I think you should look into The Swarm or The Deep by Nick Cutter if you haven’t already.
