Simulanka, you are always in my heart 🥹🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The start of our journey with Grandpa Almond, Steam, Padisarah and everyone. Helping the frog grow his confidence and the princess, to find her own fate and save her kingdom. World quest with Kirara is fun as well, I love those little guys.

This is a piece I drew of my favourite characters in the last summer event in genshin
I absolutely loved the Narration Footnotes and also the follow-up quest and those three just have a special place in my heart now
(Doing their clothing was an absolute nightmare bc i wanted them to be looking different even without their colours but they all wear the same thing???)

Interesting Observation ?
So as I was going through the 5.1 archon quest a second time, I remembered that the three people who helped Capitano locate the secret source device were never brought up again, in my first playthrough I was so sure they’d come up again mainly because somehow Mavuika was unable to locate them but Captiano could ?? I still think it’s weird they were never mentioned again…
Tumblr media
Timeskip to about an hour later when I was looking back at Simulanka’s quests trying to find more foreshadowing and hints that I might have missed or may seem clearer after going through more than half of the Natlan archon quests, and I noticed this…
Tumblr media
Albizzi, Boborano, Cappet
Aberewaa, Bosomtwe, Cuxtal
do you see it too ?
it may be a tenuous connection at best I know, but I find it hard to ignore that there are 2 separate trios whose names start with As, Bs and Cs and somehow seem to know more than the average person about the world each trio lives in
I mean those lego dudes in Simulanka were some of the only people to know about the origins of their clans and how they came to be and the weird story behind why it’s all mixed up and contradictory
Meanwhile this trio in Natlan seem to be some the only people who are aware of the existence of those special secret source devices and their locations, maybe even how to operate them
Coincidence ? Maybe, but let’s not forget that Dain said there is no such thing as a coincidence in this world…
I don’t have any conclusions or ideas about this, just some interesting food for thought, I hope we get a quest with this trio from Natlan at some point, pretty sure it will be packed with delicious lore heheheh >:)

Just a little fun thought my brain keeps tossing to the forefront since Simulanka, but I think it would be pretty neat if 'Narration Footnotes' explained in common Genshin fashion that the Dragons and Humans coexisted since the start, but because they lived in different Realms, the cropping up of Humans seemed like an invasion and threat to the Dragons, when really the Realms got tampered with to intersect.
And since there are 3 versions of Fate as seen represented by the 3 NPC families, and their different approaches to the dragons, it doesn't have to be totally out of question that there could have been 3 ancient civilizations (be it at the same time, but different place; or one for each previous cycle Teyvat went through), and each handled their Dragon neighbours differently (and that had also different outcomes).
Cappet's family (Red) idolizes courage, and their history is of defeating the Dragon through relentless attack for destroying their windmills and terrorizing them. The Dragon surrendered after not being able to rest.
Boborano's family (Yellow) instead took on the path of wisdom, and they solved their problem by giving the Dragon a riddle (which might have been a lie), that the Dragon answered falsely and had to give up all his riches. (It's also interesting that there was an ancient book given by an old woman on a bridge that depicted the rules of the world written in the original language from its start)
Albizzi's family (Blue) solved it by drinking apple cider from an old woman on a bridge that gave them the ability to grow in size, and even overgrow the dragon. The two heroes (which one was called Alberto...if I squint any harder, I'll give myself a migraine) sat on either side of the scared dragon, and drunkenly tried to explain their problems, accidentally plucking a dragon scale. They left the dragon with what they believed to be a mutual understanding, when it came off as threatening, but oh well.
So this just comes off to me as 3 cycles, 3 tries of making Dragons and Humans solve their problems, but each time something went wrong. Be it because there was only brute force, or there was trickery, or a genuine misunderstanding; there never was an actual conversation or mutual agreement.
Indeed, it's all Unreliable Narration: The Videogame, and no one is safe from that - dragons, humans, celestials, abyssal being. No one knows what is going on, and that's kinda the point of the whole game.

I was honestly convinced every NPC in this event would be the same dull barely-any-personalities, but Albizzi, Boborano, and Cappet in Kirara's side quest are so fun to listen to. Honestly the main quest is more boring.

Solar Pearl: But his apprentice revealed a different story when asked about it in private: Just as Kunwu finished polishing the Solar Pearl, the splendor of the heavens shone down and a crimson moon filled the sky. But did this phenomenon mean that Kunwu had indeed received divine assistance in his craft? Or was it a measure of his own accomplishment that his lofty ambitions had sufficed to send waves through the firmament and even elicit a response from the heavenly bodies?
Prototype Amber: The disc represents the cosmos and thus takes a circular form. At the center is a piece of Cor Purum, representing a heavenly body suspended in the firmament.
Vermillion Hereafter; Thundering Poise: The clouds hid the abyss, maw stretching to devour the firmament.
Flower of Paradise Lost; Amethyst Crown: "But, in time, invaders descended from beyond the firmament, bringing with them destruction, overturning rivers, spreading plagues..."
Kaveh; Domed Court: "When conceptualizing architecture, there is nothing wrong with imagining that the structure we build will surmount the firmament and outlast the stars."
Crimson Moon's Semblance: "O High Lord of the Nobles of Khaenri'ah, the crimson-red moon has long since fallen into the abyssal firmament, and the blindness of your blood has ended your line,"
Xianyun character story one: "Gazing down upon the murky streets far below, the human known as Xianyun transforms into a crane, and with a flap of her wings lifts herself up toward the firmament."
Fischl's Good Evening line: "The stars of the firmament are naught but rifts, thrust open by Oz's beak into the boundless tapestry of darkness."
Peak of Vindagnyr: "This was once a ritual site close to the skies, but a frigid nail that descended from the firmament buried it into the mountainside."
"The Nocturnal Firmament's Luster" is a track on the Land of Tleyaoyotl
Lynette's character introduction article is called "the firmament glimpsed in a reflected moon"
During the Narzissenkreuz Adventure, Jak tells us "Before Ney dissolved, he used the last of his strength to purify a patch of water in the firmament. It was there that he hid the treasure."
During the Narration Footnotes quest in Simulanka, one of the phrases in iambic pentameter is what Boborano tells us, "As golden sunlight fills the firmament, the tabletop engrosses your attent. Perhaps, perchance, peruse these pages thence — they surely represent no ill intent."
In the minigame Invitation of Windblume: Ballads of Breeze, the description for Celestial Destiny is "In a travail through the mortal realm, its troubles, twists, and turns can prove frustrating. But the soft songs that echo through the firmament and the mellow chants of the starry sky will ever guide the feet of Travelers onward…"
In Yoimiya's story teaser, the description is "A child's dreams are simple and pure. As she lays eyes on the meteor-streaked firmament, the sky slumbering in midnight reverie will scintillate for her."
Of course, this could just be artful translation.
In Italian, the Blessing of the Welkin Moon is called the "Lunar Blessing of the Firmament"
The bow Fading Twilight's name is derived from a Chinese poem that goes 落霞与孤鹜齐飞,秋水共长天一色 "The lone mallard soars apace with the rosy clouds, one are the autumn waters and the firmament."
In Russian, the Worldspan Fern is called Объявший небосвод папоротник- "Firmament-Embracing Fern", and the web event Starlit Sky is called Звёздный небосвод - "Starlit Firmament"
In Spanish, Chasca's title is La Pacificadora del Firmamento- "The Firmament's Peacemaker", and the description for the furniture item Like the Shimmering Distant Stars is Reflejos estelares en el firmamento- "Stellar Reflections in the Firmament".
There are countless more examples of this.
What does this mean?
Well, in the Tanakh, the firmament is a dome that keeps the waters of the cosmic ocean from rushing in. The cosmic ocean is called tehom ( תְּהוֹם ), translated as "abyss" or "the deep", and the firmament is called raqia ( רָקִ֫יעַ‎ ). If you read through all of those game quotes, you'll see the firmament and what's beyond equated with water often.

The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel before Michelangelo painted it, depicting a starry sky.
Below is the sky of Teyvat. Notice the pattern. This may be further evidence that the sky is the biblical (Hebrew) firmament

Boborano wtf?!
First off that name is a crime, if a hilarious 1, second of all why is this world quest becoming a philosophical debate on the nature off time????
Cappet just redeemed himself, if he regularly has to deal with this bullshit then it's understandable that his perspective of normal is... off.
Literally just started the most recent Genshin event and i feel like I walked into origami Narnia. Does anyone else get that vibe?
Just waiting to work out who's the witch/villain
