Captain: I’m your captain tonight, we’ve got a problem.
Captain: I can’t fit this many people on my boat.
Buck: No, no, I was told you could take 30.
Buck: I have exactly 30 guests.
Captain: Plus 6 not gonna help, you gotta drop a few people.
Buck: Come on, there’s must be something we can do here.
Captain: Well, we have bigger boats, but this is the best I can do on 2 hours notice.
Athena, coming over to them: What’s the problem?
Eddie: Apparently Buck started planning my birthday party 2 hours ago.
Buck to Eddie: No! I did not.
Buck to Athena: Apparently, we have too many people for his boat, so…
Athena: That’s crazy, I’ve seen more people clinging to a floating door.
Captain: I’m sorry, ma'am, it’s a safety issue.
Athena, pointing at him: No, you’re going to have a safety issue if you don’t take me away from this well.
Captain: Ok, little too much finger, little too much attitude.
Bobby: What’s all this?
Eddie: 2 hours of Buck's hardwork going down the drain.
Captain: Look, I can’t fit more than 30 people on the boat. I was just explaining to the lady here.
Bobby: First of all, that lady is my son…
Buck: He wasn’t… he wasn’t talking about me, dad.
Captain, pointing at Athena: I was talking about her.
Bobby: Oh, her… oh, it’s her now.
Bobby: Well, her happens to be my wife.
Bobby: You got a problem with her. You got a problem with me.
Athena: No, no, Bobby, calm down.
Captain: I didn’t have a problem before, but now I’m starting to.
Bobby: No, your problem is about to get a lot bigger.
Athena, placing a hand on his arm: No, Bobby. I know you think this is what I want, but it’s not.
Bobby: I got this, Thena.
Athena: No, love, I was just being stupid today.
Athena: I love that you’re calm, that you think first and you act second. I need that in my life.
The 118 family: 🥹
Captain: Yeah. So walk away, grandpa.
Athena turns around and punches him: Nobody call him grandpa!
Christopher: I do.

Athena just reminded us, that you should check up on your 'strong' friends, who always seem to be a pillar for others...Because of that speech to Bobby about her worry and fear, the constant picture in her head of Bobby standing on that ledge, broke my heart because she always pushes her own feelings aside to accommodate others.
Athena has always loved hard.

Bobby and Athena saying “Home safe!” —“Home safe” to each other like it’s a blessing, a prayer, an incantation. Like they’ve said it hundreds of times before.

INSOMNIA (RILEY ANDERSON MC x EVAN BUCKLEY)
Tumblr media
The bright sun streamed through the windows of the 118, illuminating the common room where the team gathered for their morning debrief. Evan Buckley leaned against the counter, coffee in hand, his easy grin never faltering as he bantered with the others. However, his attention kept drifting to Riley Anderson, who sat at the table, her usual vibrancy muted by shadows under her eyes. The lively sparkle that typically lit her face was dulled, and he noticed the slight tremor in her hands as she clutched her mug.
Over the past few weeks, Buck had witnessed subtle changes in Riley. She was quieter than usual, often lost in her thoughts, and he couldn’t shake the worry gnawing at him. He caught her stealing glances at the clock, a faint sigh escaping her lips every time the minute hand ticked forward. She’d always been the life of the party, full of energy and laughter, but now, fatigue weighed heavily on her.
Across the room, Bobby Nash watched the scene unfold. His experienced eyes didn’t miss the telltale signs. The bags under Riley’s eyes had grown more pronounced, and he recognized the anxious fidgeting of her fingers. It was a quiet morning, yet the tension in the air felt palpable. Bobby approached Buck, his voice low but firm.
“Buck, can I talk to you for a moment?”
Buck nodded, pushing away from the counter. The two men stepped outside, away from the noise of the team.
“What’s going on with Riley?” Bobby asked, concern etched on his face. “She’s not herself lately.”
Buck ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his demeanor. “I don’t know, Bobby. She hasn’t been sleeping well. I’ve tried asking her about it, but she brushes it off like it’s nothing.”
Bobby frowned, crossing his arms. “This isn’t just a case of a few late nights, Buck. We need to help her. You can’t just let it slide.”
“I know,” Buck sighed. “I just… I don’t know how to help her. She’s always been so strong, and now it feels like I’m losing her bit by bit.”
Bobby nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Let’s talk to her together. Maybe she’ll open up if she knows we’re here for her.”
After a brief discussion, they decided to involve Athena as well. She had a knack for connecting with the team, and her support could be the key to getting through to Riley. They found her in the gear room, organizing equipment.
“Athena, we need your help,” Bobby began, his voice steady but urgent. “It’s about Riley. She’s struggling with insomnia, and Buck and I think she needs support.”
Athena’s brows furrowed in concern. “Of course. What do you want me to do?”
“Let’s all sit down with her,” Buck suggested. “Maybe if we approach her as a team, she’ll feel more comfortable opening up.”
The three of them found Riley sitting at the table again, her head resting on her hand, staring blankly at her untouched breakfast. Buck’s heart sank at the sight. He approached first, crouching beside her. “Hey, Riley, can we talk?”
She blinked, pulling herself out of her haze. “Sure, what’s up?”
Bobby and Athena took seats opposite them, creating a circle of support. “We’re worried about you,” Bobby said gently. “You’ve seemed off lately, and we want to help.”
Riley looked down, her fingers fidgeting with her necklace. “I’m fine, really. Just a lot on my mind.”
“Riley,” Athena interjected softly. “We care about you. This isn’t just about being busy. We can see you’re struggling, and it’s okay to admit that.”
Riley’s facade cracked slightly, and she let out a shaky breath. “I haven’t been sleeping well,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I lie awake at night, my mind racing, and then when I finally do fall asleep, it’s never for long.”
Buck’s heart ached as he reached out, placing his hand over hers. “Why didn’t you tell me? I want to help you.”
She glanced up, tears brimming in her eyes. “I didn’t want to be a burden. I thought it would pass, but it’s just getting worse.”
“Riley, you’re never a burden,” Athena assured her. “It’s important to take care of yourself, and that means reaching out when you need help. Have you thought about talking to someone about this?”
“I don’t know,” Riley replied, her voice shaky. “I guess I’m just scared. What if they can’t help?”
“Then we’ll be right here with you,” Bobby said, his tone firm. “You don’t have to face this alone. We’ll find the right person to talk to. Just promise us you’ll consider it.”
After a moment of silence, Riley nodded, her resolve wavering. “Okay. I’ll think about it.”
Buck squeezed her hand reassuringly. “You’re not alone in this, Riles. We’re a team, remember? We’ll tackle this together.”
With that promise hanging in the air, Riley felt a weight lift slightly off her shoulders. The road ahead might be tough, but she knew she had her family at the 118 to help her through the darkness. And maybe, just maybe, she could start to find her way back to the light.

my summarized thoughts of the 911 season 7 premiere
1. WOW!!! the improvement in just general production is so different its astonishing. i expected to see a difference but every aspect of the show just seems richer, fuller, more lively and dare i say … better!
2. them focusing on the main ‘duos’ of the show is a great way to re-establish relationships going into a new season on a new network. madney, bathena, hen and chim, and buddie are all the focus despite not being the plot and i think that was such a smart move
3. i love that the “main plot” (cruise) has not even really started yet, sometimes the head first into a giant dramatic event can be a little jarring, so this was appreciated
4. as i said in a previous post, it seems that the cast is just happier. and for that to shine through even behind their acting says alot
i feel confident saying that if this keeps up, it has the potential to be the best season since season 3 and i mean that wholeheartedly.

You know what i’m really looking forward to
Buck and Bobby. like i want the father-son relationship to be at its peak. I want the “dad” i want the “son” no…. actually i need it.
it’s so special to me
and like parental approval (bathena obvs) would be so important to him and he deserves it
also the fact that both bobby and athena bring up buck as the person who would be scaling the cruise.
Like that’s your son

Oh and PSA! Just because they broke up doesn’t mean Buddie will happen. Eddie is quite literally still in love with his dead wife.

this episode was so pivotal to Athena and Bobby’s development, both individually and together and I just love that despite their deep rooted insecurities about themselves and their relationship, when faced with mortal danger and the real, imminent threat of dying, they realized just how much they love each other. Perhaps more than they ever knew.
