Many things annoy me about the BNHA movies but the worst one so far is the sheer loss of potential of Izuku, our protagonist, being accused of mass murder in a story that doesn’t have the time to dwell on it.
Any fic writer worth their salt would have shown the reaction of every member of 1-A. We would have at least thought of the political implications of a Japanese hero being accused of such a crime while he was outside the country. We should have drown in Dadmight.
And the villains' reactions could have been the funniest thing ever.

I have to agree. I will argue that cwac is well written but it's essentially just different characters with a bnha coat of paint, it was written so many years ago where it could've technically been a direction taken but canon has deviated so far from it no longer resembles anything close to it. The problem begins when some take it as a canon interpretation when it was not leading to infighting and misreading of canon events and character, although this is no fault of the author who I believe is still very talented.
When I first got into the fandom circa 2018, right before Hawks debuted, I was super obsessed with Deku and so CWAC was up my alley. But the moment I started paying attention to the villains, somehow it clearly dawned on me how not only OOC the story was but just how much the author clearly dislikes characters like Shigaraki or Dabi and how much it shows, fairly juvenile-y.
I won't argue that the author isn't talented, but over the years a friend who was also a very Big Writer at the time of CWAC's popularity 2018-ish has told me how discussions about the League went very badly.
The issue still is the fandom. I absolutely blame DFO on CWAC and the other work of the author that the name escapes me. Even now, when I look at DFO dynamics or the weird afo inko obsession they absolutely clearly have elements from the fic, so essentially what CWAC did was establish such a clear fanon that even non-fic readers have taken it as part of the theory.
I mean, again this is more the issue of the fandom in general just clinging on to very old perceptions of characters and plots. I'm going to rant about that below.
I'll use Tomura as an example because what made me dislike CWAC was the handling of him when I started to realize just how rich Horikoshi made Tomura 's character. Some shig-haters never get passed Kamino in what they think of him, and there are the LOV stans who haven't caught up with the idea that actually the MLA arc was *bad* for the League and are still in the viewpoint that the villains are revolutionaries. So there's these spaces where Shigaraki is just seen as a murderous incel versus Shigaraki is Che Guevara incarnate.
And these echo chambers are so removed from each other that very often little nuance penetrates, so you have incredibly established fanon truths that are rarely deviated from and people just stop examining the source material. Then conflict arises when you leave the echo chamber and talk to someone else.
Also worth mentioning is that the fandom echo chambers manage to function as they do by assigning moral values to any "thought crimes" that don't line up with accepted fanon-"canon". Don't think the League are super-radicals who will actually liberate society and create a Marxist utopia? Well you're a capitalist pig who supports cops, bye. You can see it with the very hardcore hero stans who think liking a villain means condoning murder too, "why do you like terrorists?" Or come into my inbox to tell me Jin's murder was justified. Fandom is very good at policing itself into cliques, to the detriment of everyone, I think.
It also, I think, created the situation where people in this fandom genuinely hate the work, keep reading it in bad faith due to those ingrained fanon expectations and preconceptions of what the work should be, and then get more and more resentful as time goes on and their views are not even acknowledged.
Seriously, just look back at the reaction of hero stan Twitter and reddit bros at Himiko's whole fight with Ochako. There was so much hatred of how Himiko was being redeemed.
There are still canon DFO fans. I feel sorry for those who had to look at this chapter and realize that what they've sunk so much time into was not real. Disappointment hurts, man.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. I find it fascinating in an academic sense how so much of fandom was shaped by a fic and I wonder if at some point someone will examine it critically.

Crazy in love isn't always healthy love
So, this little idea is mine. Have had it in my head for a while now, I have hoped to write it at some point and now the time has come for you all to read it.
Please enjoy!
Denki Kaminari never thought he would fall in love with someone until he was a pro hero… until his eyes landed on Katsuki Bakugo. An alpha that was smoking hot and that everyone wanted to be with. He sometimes daydreams of them married and being happy but for some reason Katsuki hasn’t asked him out yet, he thought it had been because he wanted things to be perfect for them so he waited and left him some hints for his confession. He tried asking help from the Bakusquad but they always refuse and tell him to give up on Katsuki… making him even more determined to be with him then ever before by working hard to get his attention, getting some alone time with him and trying to give him courting gifts.
This of course resulted in Denki… failing his classes due to him not paying attention in class or turning in his homework… making it possible that he will be expelled…
Once it was discovered the source of his distraction… he was told to leave Bakugo alone so he could focus on school. He was also told that if he didn’t listen, they would have no choice but to expel him from UA… even worst of it all is the fact Denki discovered that Katsuki was trying to switch classes so he didn’t have to see him often. Denki thought it was unfair as he was enraged on the inside… so in order for none of those things happen he “promised” to change and focus in class while leaving Katsuki alone. But it wasn’t enough for them so they decided to instead have Denki transferred to another class while also keeping an eye on him, Denki begged them not to do this and how he “promised” to change already… he turned to his parents for help but they kept quiet and didn’t look at him… causing him to see that no one cared about him.
But the truth was that his parents had their hands tied… see Mitsuki Bakugo had gone to see them with a lawsuit… she threatened to sue them if they don’t allow Denki to be punished for harassing her son…
Denki refused for this to happen “I love Katsuki! You can’t keep us apart just because of that! It’s not fair!” he screamed at them… and that’s when Mina snapped “Grow up Denki! We have tried to tell you over and over again to leave us alone and how Katsuki is already dating someone but you only want to hear what you want!” she shouted which caused Denki to look at her in shock.
Denki couldn’t believe it “Your kidding right Mina? Were all friends and the Bakusquad! And it’s a joke that Katsuki is dating someone right?” he asked but everyone was quiet “We never asked you to join our pack… you just started claiming to be part of it to anyone who would listen… and I have been with my omega for three years now” Katsuki explained making Denki look at him in horror.
He then lost it… he started screaming that he was making a mistake, how they should be dating as his parents are pro heroes’ while his are fashion designers. He claimed this omega he was dating isn’t going to help him in anyways that he could and that once he realized it… he would come crawling back to him begging for them to date. Security had to take him away as he screams.
His parents watched him in horror as he was dragged away… they apologized to everyone for the incident and promised to get him the help he needs to get better from all of this. Once they left, Nezu apologizes for not stopping this sooner. He then offers him two weeks out of school to relax from all of this “Sure I’ll take it… I’ll be able to go see Jasmine” he explained making Nezu nod “Allow me to pay for the flight though” he offered but Katsuki declined “My parents already bought me and my pack tickets to go see her… I’ll just have them change them to an earlier flight” he explained.
This surprised his pack “Alright then… I’ll be extending the two weeks to your pack too” Nezu said which made the pack happy and excited to go see Jasmine. They leave Nezu’s office to go back to there dorm to pack their things for a two-week trip to Canada to see Jasmine “I can’t wait to see her again. Jasmine worked so hard to learn Japanese to talk to us and I wonder if she got any better since last, we spoke to her” Kyoka said making them nod “I’m excited to listen to the new albums she got! She said she got some new ones and I can’t wait to hear them” Hanta said with a smile as they finished up packing what they needed “I’m just excited to play with her hair! It’s soft and long and she let’s me style it all the time!” Mina cheered making them smile towards her as Katsuki got a text from his sire about their flight.
Denki couldn’t accept this at all… instead of transferring him to another class… his parents pulled him out of UA so they could place him in a mental facility because he was “sick” and needed “medical help” in their opinion… if anything they were the ones who should be here! Nothing was wrong with him! He knew he is in love with Katsuki but no one cares about his feelings at all! The worst part is he needs to talk to his doctor and therapist and also take his medication… but because he does none of those and only talks about Katsuki… he gets punished. No phone calls, no visitors and sometimes no food… this was the worst pain in his opinion… since it wasn’t fair that they would treat him like this simply because he was in love with someone.
Meanwhile… the Bakusquad arrived in Canada safely. They were so excited to be here and were really happy to find Jasmine waiting for them with a sign with the words ‘Bakusquad’ in Japanese “Hi guys! Ready to get going?” she asked in Japanese making them agree. She brought them to the vehicle and they drove off to her home, during the drive she noticed how the pack fell asleep making her giggle towards them while kissing her alpha’s forehead.
When they arrived, she got to work on grabbing their things to bring them inside while they slowly woke up in the van, once they realized they arrived, they slowly got out and took over grabbing their things and putting them in their rooms. Mina and Kyoka shared a room while Eijiro and Hanta shared a room… this left Katsuki to sleep in Jasmine’s room with her there since they are dating… as long as they were careful and took precautions which made Jasmine turn bright red at that.
There two-week trip in Canada was amazing! Jasmine showed them so much while having them enjoy foods she grew up enjoying. She also had them check out stores that they wouldn’t find in Japan which made them so happy to buy things from those stores to bring back home. At one point, the Bakusquad left Katsuki and Jasmine alone to have a date together… they of course cooed at them when they came back with Katsuki carrying Jasmine on his back since she fell asleep at one point of there way back home.
They had a great time… but soon it was time to go back to Japan to get back to there classes, they were sad since they were having so much fun “We can still talk, plus there are multiplayer games we can play together… and it’s not like I can’t come see you guys or you guys can’t visit again” Jasmine explained making them all very happy at her words. They said their goodbyes and after giving Katsuki a moment with his omega… they flew back home to get back to UA.
Once home, the Bakusquad got to work in class and studied hard. Sometimes one or two of them would contact Jasmine to talk for a moment but after that they got back to work… Katsuki of course contacted her the most as he is dating her after all. Time went by and soon the Bakusquad graduated UA and are now able to go out to work as pro heroes!
They were so happy but were surprised to find Jasmine there in Japan, Mitsuki came over and revealed that she bought Jasmine a plane ticket to come see them graduate… and to spend a week with them before she needs to go back to Canada for school. They spent so much time together during that week that Jasmine was happy for all the good memories they had made together. Once she left, the Bakusquad worked very hard to make names for themselves… especially so Jasmine knew what they were doing in the end.
Katsuki though… he worked really hard. He wanted Jasmine to move to Japan so they could be together… or so he could move to Canada if she preferred staying there. He wanted enough money and a name for himself so if he had to transfer to an agency in Canada… they would know who he was back in Japan.
Overtime Jasmine had finished school and Katsuki bought her a ticket to Japan… since she was working to pack her things to start sending them over to him as she wanted to live in Japan “I don’t want to stay somewhere I know everything about… I want to discover your home while you work to become number one” she had told him. This resulted in her moving into his apartment… at least until he could afford something bigger that is. After that they continued on with there lives while working together, they went on dates and were happy together.
And then… Denki Kaminari returned…
He was very angry but had to hide it from his parents or he would be sent back. He had to go to college since being a pro hero was no longer an option… but now he had a job and was close to being happy since he couldn’t see his Katsuki’s accounts on his real account… Katsuki had blocked him when he was in Canada which he didn’t know about. Same for the Bakusquad who didn’t want to take any chances, the second he could he cut his parents off and blocked them in every way he could think of.
One day as he worked, he received an email that made him very happy… UA was having a class reunion and he had gotten an invitation. He knew that this was his chance to see Katsuki again and get back with him… but before that he needed to be perfect for his alpha. He made appointments for his hair, nails, face care and then rented out the perfect outfit for the reunion that he knew would make Katsuki want him even more.
When he get’s there, Denki sees familiar faces and begins to greet them… he didn’t care to notice how uncomfortable everyone was to seeing him at the reunion… or of the fact that they were lying to his face to get away from him. He checks the time after leaving the bathroom only to look up as the Bakusquad that abandoned him arrived, he so badly wanted to scream and attack them but he controlled himself and simply walks over as he knew Katsuki would be with them… only for him to notice he didn’t arrive with them. He goes over to talk but they avoid him and walk away from him while talking to one another or to a friend… he got upset but decided that they weren’t worth it and to focus on when Katsuki arrives… but then fifteen minutes pass and he still didn’t show up.
He was getting tired of waiting and simply decided that he didn’t want to come or he had an early shift in the morning and so he left the reunion. He had just grabbed his things when he realized he left his lip gloss in the bathroom… he went to get it and after grabbing it he saw… Katsuki with some other omega.
He was livid that Katsuki would pick this omega over him, but that wasn’t the worst part… it was the fact she had a small baby bump forming and he decided that he had to get rid of her somehow… and then a plan began to form in his mind. He was certain that it would work in the end, he left the area and returned home to get started on his plan to get that omega out of his precious Katsuki’s life for good.
It took him a few weeks to set everything up but it was so worth it for the end results. He had created a fake account to follow Jasmine, the one he uses to check on his Katsuki and the Bakusquad was only to watch and not say anything or he could get blocked… but this account was fake and meant to reach out to Jasmine and then destroy her.
After making sure everything looked good… he went and followed Jasmine’s Instagram, then he waits for her to post something so he can start liking and commenting her posts… this was his plan. After a while he will start pointing things out about her posts to see how she reacts and then after doing it long enough he will message her to talk like a good friend would… when really, he’s going to make her overthink things.
But then… three days go by and Jasmine didn’t post a thing for some weird reason. From what he could tell in her previous posts… Jasmine posts something every day, but he didn’t think much of it and decided to look through her posts to like and comment on some for a while. But then a week goes by and still nothing… but instead of wondering what was wrong he goes to focus on his job.
It was during one of his lunch breaks that Jasmine at long last posted something… the post was of her feet and the views of a dog park, near her was a Great Dane that had the name tag King. In the description it said she took King out for a walk but he decided to play in the dog park without Katsuki.
Denki was disgusted. A Great Dane!? Katsuki got that thing!? If he had been with Katsuki, they would have gotten a Shiba Inu as they were gorgeous to look at. He was about to say something rude but stopped himself, took a second to breathe and then liked the post and commented about how gorgeous King looked… while in his head he planned on getting rid of that mutt as soon as he could.
After that he went back to his own thing while waiting for Jasmine’s next post, but then… nothing was posted and that pissed Denki off since she was ruining his entire plan to make her leave his Katsuki by not posting like usual which didn’t make any sense to him “You being lazy or something? Maybe ordering my alpha around like he’s your second dog or something!?” he mumbled to himself while looking at her profile picture.
“Are you sure I should wait? I haven’t posted anything for days since the last post and that one was taken two days after the reunion happened” Jasmine asked while looking at Katsuki, King had his head on her lap while Katsuki sat next to her “Yes. By waiting were getting him to make a wrong move to show that this is his fake profile… we need him to act and then he will be gone for good” Katsuki explained making Jasmine sigh but nod to his words… while she didn’t like the plan as it was messing with her usual routine, she still wanted to help her alpha to get rid of the omega who was obsessed with him for some reason. No one in the Bakusquad would tell her what happened exactly but she could tell it was really bad.
Denki then decided that he was done waiting… he went to private message Jasmine. He decided to use the fact she wasn’t posting as often as usual and asked if she was alright… this was in hopes of her responding and giving him something to pick at. He read over his message multiple times while changing a few things every once in a while… while other times erasing the entire message and writing something different.
Once he deemed it perfect, he hit send and went to do his own thing while waiting for her reply… he decided to make a wedding planner for his and Katsuki’s wedding… while also making a planner for his life with Katsuki by planning out everything to be perfect so Katsuki only needed to focus on work and relaxing when he gets back home.
Time soon went by and Denki didn’t get a response from Jasmine… instead she posted about her spa resort trip with Katsuki. There were pictures of the place, the view, the food, them taking a walk and a few other things… but the description was about how Katsuki surprised her by bringing her there instead of to their friend’s place.
Denki scoffed at the post “So much money wasted on the trip… clearly she made him pay for the trip and it wasn’t an actual surprise from the start” he whispered as he looked at the two pictures, she took of Katsuki which made him happy as he liked the post and commented in a positive way… just after sending the comment, he received a notification that Jasmine replied to him.
Excited that he could continue with his plan he went to see what she wrote… it was her greeting him and then apologizing for not replying “No phone service at the resort? What a clear lie. She didn’t respond because she was busy bossing my sweet Katsuki around” he said to himself as he rolled his eyes, but he responded with clear understanding of her words and then began to talk to her.
A month goes by and Denki has decided that he has bonded with Jasmine long enough to start the next part of his plan. He has made sure to keep up his little act so Jasmine would never know who he really was from the very start, instead she would believe he was just one of her followers who had things in common with her “I need to make sure that what I write next is very clear that it’s from a place of worry for her and not just me trying to destroy her relationship with my alpha so I can be with him” he mumbled to himself as he got to work on his next message to her.
Sadly, he should have noticed how Jasmine was slow with her replies, or how sometimes she will talk as if what he just wrote was never there… and then there was the fact that she would sometimes end their conversations short but not explain the reason why they had to stop talking since he never asked her and simply accepted the fact, she had to go do something which he was certain was hurt his alpha over something stupid.
He looked over his message and with a nod sent it to her, he smiled as it was confirmed sent and seen… he then relaxed as all he had to do now is wait for her reply full of worry… but he never got that reply. The next day when he got to work, he was fired by his boss who was waiting for him “I cannot believe I hired someone like you! If I had known the truth, I would have gotten you blacklisted!” he screamed as Denki packed up his things and left.
Then he got a call from his parents when he knew he had changed his number and blocked them but they were telling him to pack up all his things because they were on there way to get him and bring him home “We can’t believe you didn’t change Denki! Instead, you vanish, cut us out of your life and stalk that sweet omega!?” his mother said which made his eyes widen as he hangs-up on her and looks at Jasmine’s Instagram account.
There it was… Jasmine’s new post… and it was all about him and his fake account…
She revealed his fake account and who he really was. She went into detail about how he had stalked and harassed her with this act of a worried follower. She then revealed his actions from back when he was a student at UA and how Katsuki was getting his lawyers involved to sue him.
The Bakusquad had commented to back up her story with some students who also went to UA who replied and talked about what they remember seeing or hearing from Denki… lawyers arrived just moments after his parents had “This is a warning. Get your son under control or the Bakugo’s will sue you for everything your son has done” one said before they all left… leaving Denki with his angry parents who yelled at him as they all packed up his things to move back in with his parents.
“This is to keep you safe and to keep an eye on you from now on Denki” his dad explained as he held Denki’s phone, tablet, laptop and any other item he could use to contact someone “We can’t have you do this anymore. You’re not well and we clearly need to get you some help once more” he said before closing the door to Denki’s room… and locking it from the outside.
He hated this, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to leave the house for a while and he didn’t even know how long it would take for him to get at least his phone back… but because he didn’t want to give up on Katsuki… he would need to be very patient before he can do anything. A year has passed and Denki was now able to go out and have his phone, he was so happy because now he could once more get to work on getting his alpha.
But for his plan to work… he needs to find a strong alpha who is dumb enough to believe him and to do what he wants. Which is why he went to places where alpha’s will be at and flirts with one every once in a while, to see how they react and to go from there, once he finds the right alpha… he will send the alpha on Jasmine to end her life and make her vanish from the world so he could have Katsuki.
This of course caused him to need to be ready to sleep with the alpha as a reward… he wishes he could save it for Katsuki but it was a small loss to get his prize. This took him a whole year… but he finally found Inasa and he was perfect, sweet, strong and stupid which was what he needed in an alpha.
He got to work in telling him a made-up story about how he had been dating Katsuki but Jasmine stole him from him “He had to do a shoot in her area and I guess that’s when it happened because the next thing, I knew… he didn’t care about me” he cried making Inasa hold him close. He also talked about how Jasmine was abusive towards Katsuki “I’m certain that either the pup isn’t his or she somehow forced herself onto him to get pregnant” he explained making Inasa look horrified at his words.
Inasa asked Denki questions and he was more than happy to answer them with more lies he had prepared in advance; it took sometime but soon Denki could tell Inasa was ready to do what he wanted… so he cried to him and showed him a post Jasmine made about how she and Katsuki were expecting their second pup.
“Katsuki called me to say that she was lying. He said he hadn’t slept with her since the first pup so he knows it’s not his” he cried to Inasa… and that was enough for him as he promised everything would be alright… and then he left him alone. Denki waited a while before going back home. Once in his room he smiled as he was certain that Jasmine and her first pup would soon be gone… then three days go by and there was nothing from Inasa.
He really was hoping he left to take care of Jasmine so as he waited, he got himself ready for Inasa so he could reward him for taking care of Jasmine… but then it happened… the police barged in and arrested him. He was told that Inasa was a hired man by Katsuki to spy on Denki since the day his parents brought him to their home.
The police presented all of the evidence Inasa had collected on Denki to his parents. Denki wasn’t mentally there as his parents screamed at him for doing all of this behind there backs when they brought him here to be safe and to start fresh. The police explained that since nothing happened, Jasmine and Katsuki weren’t pressing charges but warned that the next time he tried something then they would file for a restraining order.
They then left, his parents went back to screaming at him for all the pain he has caused to them… but Denki never answered them, he wasn’t even listening to them… instead he was trying to wake himself up because he was now at the stage where he believed this was all just some crazy nightmare and that once he wakes up, he will be with Katsuki at his side.
But he wasn’t in a nightmare… he was in real life… and soon he would be sent back somewhere to get him help for his mental state…
Meanwhile… Katsuki sighed in relief after hanging up the phone. He had just finished talking to Inasa who confirmed that the Kaminari’s were sending Denki somewhere to get him help, of course he knew that considering it was Denki he wasn’t going to get better anytime soon. But at least he was freed from the crazy omega for good, he turned to his sleeping omega as their son Kazuki was on the floor watching TV.
He smiled towards them as he was happy with his growing family… he then pulled out a small ring box from his pocket and smiled “Can’t wait to see her next post about our engagement” he whispered to himself as he walked over to his omega to care for there son while she slept soundly “Now we can be happy and not worry about something being behind us” he said softly before his son turned to look at him with a smile.
They were finally happy and free from Denki Kaminari… while the Bakusquad relaxed at the peace and quiet... Denki was sent to another state where a facility would take care of him… he fights and screams at them to let him go but no one listens… and as he gets knocked out by a drug… he thinks about how Katsuki loved him and would soon come to save him… because he was THAT obsessed with Katsuki… that he thought it was love…

I swear if Toga dies from a blood transfusion when several (male)characters can have all their internal organs blown to hell, be reduced to an actual, literal skeleton or have open heart surgery smack dab in the middle of a battlefield an still be breathing I will turn feral.
Us if Toga dies giving blood when everyone else was literally exploded and walked it off:

I hope you don't take this as a troll question but I see people argue over Touya some saying he isn't an abuser or didn't become an abuser and some say he became an abuser. I'm not sure where I stand, because in a way I get it he's gone down a destructive path - murdering people, displaying his families trauma national wide not just his won but Shouto's and the others, it's like he didn't break the cycle but continued it. yet, a part of me is not sure?
Tumblr media
I will answer this as politely as I can, but honestly this type of "debate" makes me want to bang my head against a wall lol.
This debate exists because some people just simply don't know what abuse is in this context.
Touya is not an abuser. Who is he abusing? Who??? The murder victims??? He didn't abuse them. He killed them. Get it right lol.
The abuse being discussed in this story is the abuse of a power dynamic in a relationship. Enji is Touya's parent, therefore he has the power in the relationship, the upper hand in every single way. He abused his position of power over Touya. Who in this manga does Touya have a power dynamic over? Nobody. Committing murder is not abuse, it's murder. People need to establish this in their brains.
Abuse in this context is chronic, long-term, and repeated, and the abuse of the power someone has over the other person. There is just no scenario where Touya is in this position over someone else, nor does he use it, none. None of the villains, save for AFO, are in that position toward anyone at all.
Being violent does not equal being abusive. Please please I need people to understand this for the love of god.
"displaying his families trauma national wide not just his won but Shouto's and the others, it's like he didn't break the cycle but continued it"
Okay first of all, I'm not sure what "cycle" he is continuing, but it certainly isn't a cycle of abuse. Cycle of violence? Yeah, sure, but so are the heroes.
I'm a little tired of people acting like Touya is the bad guy here for telling his abuse story.
I'm so sorry to say but the unfortunate part of abuse in families is that more than one person is always involved, and therefore when someone shares THEIR story, someone else's story is bound to be shared too. Is it fair? Nope. But you can't tell Touya to keep his mouth shut so Enji can just carry on his merry way.
Touya did not ask to be born into the Todoroki family. He didn't ask to be Endeavor's and Rei's son, nor did he ask to be Shouto's, Natsuo's, and Fuyumi's brother. Touya didn't make his dad beat his brother and mother and lock Rei in a hospital for ten years. Unfortunately when Touya tells his own story, which he has every right to do, the rest of the family gets dragged under.
Literally no matter how Touya told his story, whether he left his siblings' names out of it or not, people were going to know.
Maybe perhaps assign blame to the right person--the person making it to where there was a story to be told in the first place.
That's what sucks about abuse survivors. There is no perfect solution that satisfies everyone. There is no fluffy, happy-go-lucky way to tell your story without other people getting dragged into it.
It really irks me that Touya is the bad guy for telling his own damn story. I see it a lot and it's just weird how blame is being assigned to him when Endeavor is literally right there. Endeavor is the reason his family is getting dragged through the mud right now. If it were just because of the fact that Touya went full-on villain, that'd be one thing. But it all goes back to Endeavor and the shit he started 24 years prior.
No, Touya is not an abuser. Idk who is saying that but that is just objectively incorrect.

Getting back into BNHA (and thus the fandom) has reminded me exactly people always say the fandom is bad. Which I understand, I get it. While I personally think you should never let a community cloud your enjoyment of the source material, the sheer size makes the intensity and negative aspects of the fandom look all the more... Problematic? Overbearing?
Also, might just be a me thing, but the BNHA fandom has a really weird way of looking at everything in the series as black and white. It's really odd and kind of.. Irritating, almost as if people can't really think for themselves or follow the herd.. When the foundation of the last few arcs in BNHA have been placed on more nuanced and complex issues, especially regarding superhuman society and villains.

back on my bnha bullshit but uh. rhetorical question we all know why, why does the smoke-generator quirk guy and midoriya not need to get naked to use their quirk? meanwhile midnight had a law written into place about skin exposure (and her quirk is controllable, it’s not like midnight was just naturally secreting sleeping gas)

After pestering him for days, you finally convince Dabi to pierce your tongue.
Beforehand, he’s taunting you the whole time saying “It’s gonna hurt really bad— are you sure you still want to?” getting a kick out of seeing you nervous.
However, once it’s time for the act, he’s surprisingly gentle as he tilts your head to face him just right and he directs you on what to do. His voice is soft, but stern.
“Stop moving.”
You start to realize how intimate this all is once he’s up close to you, lining up the needle. The two of you catch eyes for a moment, “Take a deep breath for me… and breathe out.” as he pushes the needle through, securing the jewelry in place. You blink a few times, not even realizing it’s over.
“Not so bad, huh?” he asks, putting aside all the tools while you look in the mirror.
You go to ask him what he thinks about it, but barely get the question out before he’s kissing you — something he was fighting the urge to do the entire time.

Some thoughts on The Discourse about the last BNHA cover
(Note: This Discourse was on Twitter. I don’t know how much of this may have been said here on Tumblr, so consider this either my contribution or just me reporting back on drama from other fronts.)
So, I saw a lot of back and forth over there between people who didn’t like the cover and people who did, and I spent a little while mulling it over. It seemed to me that the people who didn’t like it had a good point, but one they were not articulating particularly well, possibly thanks to the character limit and possibly also because the people talking about it tended to phrase their objections in sarcastic, consciously exaggerated terms because that’s the language months and months of dealing with the truly insufferable Horikoshi Defense Squad on Twitter primed them to use.
So what is the point?  Basically this: In going for the lazy/easy callback in both the cover design and Dai (plate-hair kid)'s role in the final chapter more generally, Horikoshi landed on an "everything comes full circle" ending when what the story desperately needed was an indicator of change.
We didn't need to know that a kid with low self-confidence and nothing to speak of in the quirk department can still become a Pro Hero if he[1] wants to.  We already knew that because it's what the whole story of BNHA was about!  Deku passing the torch/paying it forward is nice if all you care about is Deku's personal arc, but it's sheer reductiveness if you care about literally anything else.  If there was going to be a kid getting Deku's encouragement and help at the end, if that's the ending Hori was absolutely set on, it shouldn't have been the Deku Redux kid; it shouldn't have been the weak kid who has already been metaphorically proven capable of becoming a Hero.
1: And of course it would be a boy.
It should have been the troubled kid, the one from the bad family situation, the one who isn't sure whether he even believes in this Hero thing.  It should have been the kid who, if nothing about Hero Society had changed, would’ve been rejected by the whole corrupt system—in so many words, the Tenko Redux kid.  That's the one who we saw could not become a Hero under the previous system.  That's who we needed to demonstrate the system's improvement.
Instead, all we get is Deku helping himself.  And it fits, I guess, because “himself” is the only sort of person Deku ever wanted to save anyway—remember that in the very first chapter, Deku tells All Might that he wants to be a Hero because he was never “saved” as a kid and so he thinks saving is the coolest thing ever.  Implicitly, then, Deku wanted to be the kind of Hero who could have saved the kid he was, and that tendency to reserve his compassion for people he can recognize himself in—the crying children and the Hero wannabes—is consistent throughout the series.  Dai, then, simply becomes the very last of these examples, the chance for Deku to tell his middle school self that he, too, can be a great Hero.
And that’s quite a choice, isn’t it?  Take a second to consider the implications there. The metaphorical parallel Deku helps is his middle school self, not his childhood self—there’s no evidence that Dai was bullied on the same level young Izuku was, and we sure didn’t see anyone telling him to jump off a roof.  So, who does save those children, then, in this grand, improved version of Hero Society?  Does anyone?
Well, not really. Not that we’re shown. Indeed, the child who was the closest analogue to young Izuku—a weak and seemingly quirkless boy who stuck his neck out for other rejected children, who still stubbornly wanted to be a Hero despite a parent's disapproval—was Tenko, and Deku pointedly did not save him.
To be clear, I don’t mean that just in the sense that Deku failed to save the adult Tenko became, but even in the emotional sense that the series clearly wants me to believe Deku succeeded at, the saving of the boy's heart? I don’t think Deku even managed that.  Sure, he might have protected the echo of that child from a few memories, might have held his hands for a few exchanges of dialogue, but then the boy transformed back into the form of the Villain he'd become and was swallowed down the spiritual maw of the man from whom society failed to save Tenko to begin with! And what was Deku doing as this happened? Absolutely nothing but yelling impotently as he got blown backward and out of the mindscape.
Imagine that Deku had found some way to cheer up Izumi Kouta only for Muscular to kill the kid thirty seconds later.  No one would be saying, “I think Deku still saved him—his heart, anyway,” if Deku got Kouta to smile and admit that Heroes were actually pretty cool only to do nothing but scream helplessly as he watched Muscular pulverize Kouta’s ribcage with one gentle squeeze.[2]
2: Mind you, this comparison is flawed!  Unlike AFO’s vestige, Muscular doesn’t turn up to kill a child as a direct result of Deku’s own actions. Also unlike the events of the final battle, Deku doesn't jump up and personally administer the killing blow to the still-screaming victim, either.
It just leaves me thinking about some of the stuff @codenamesazanka has said about how the narrative treats Shigaraki and Deku helping him: not as something Deku has a duty to do, not something Hero Society on the whole owes Shigaraki (and all the other metaphorical expy/future Shigarakis), but rather a bonus, a nice extra, a demonstration to shine up Deku's Hero cred because he's making efforts no one else would bother with and that no one would reasonably expect him to make. It's not Deku’s job to save the Tenkos or the young Izukus of the world; apparently that just falls to society at large.
So then, what was the point of making Tenko/Tomura such an extreme case of someone who started in a similar place to Deku?  Why make him, also, a weak kid who was told he couldn't be a Hero, if you're not going to have Deku save him in the way no one saved Deku himself?
From where I'm sitting, the answer is, "It seemed like a good idea to Horikoshi at the time, but proved to be poorly thought out."  But if Deku failing to save his own closest childhood analogue was where the story was going the whole time, then Shigaraki should never have been used to parallel Deku to begin with.  It's just a damned waste of Shigaraki as a character, an insult to everything he represented, to use him for ~the parallels~ throughout the entirety of the story except the very beginning and the very end.
Anyway, Pro Heroes are bullshit and the ending should have been them being radically reconceived from the ground up with input from all the people they failed to save.  But again, if you have to still have Heroes-qua-Heroes at the end, and you have to have some stupid thematic echo because you as an author think callbacks are the single most compelling storytelling tool of all time, then everything we got on Dai should have been for Scissors-kun instead, and here I am very much including Dai's scene before the first war. An unsettling scene of a strange child with his mouth sewn shut, stuck in a straitjacket in a dark room should have been the last thing we saw before launching into the day of the raids, an apparent element for the future in the same way that so many future Villains were first shown in the wake of Stain's arrest.
See, Shigaraki’s own destructiveness is what ultimately frees Scissors-kun from the basement, “saving” this rejected, abused child in a way no Hero ever managed or even knew to try, just as Shigaraki brought light and a strange sort of hope to the lives of so many others whom Heroes failed.  However, Shigaraki couldn't carry his ambitions through to the end. He was never able to meet the kid he indirectly saved, never able to offer that appallingly abused victim an avenue for his signature brand of rough justice. Heroes stopped him from doing so. So then, who will help Scissors-kun?
If we’re to believe that the story's protagonist has made a real difference, that Deku and his classmates have changed the world for the better, then we don't need to see them helping a kid who we already know is going to turn out fine because “he” aleady did. We need to see them help the people that previously only Villains would have helped, picking up the torch they struck from Shigaraki’s hands.
So sure, keep the scene with Granny Evil and Scissors-kun if you must, to show that it’s not only Heroes but also the broader Hero Society that’s changed. After that, though, show Deku stepping in.  Show him taking an interest in this kid as a way to keep his promises—to Shigaraki, that the rejection and obliviousness that he sought to destroy have indeed been destroyed and will remain so, and to Spinner, that Deku will remember Shigaraki for the rest of his life.
When Deku is older and in a position to give advice to a kid who’s floundering and uncertain of what to do with his life because of what people around him say about him, make that character echo the characters the old system failed to save, not the character who the entire story proved would do just fine.
For god's sake, ditch Deku Redux.
Now, I know the obvious rejoinder here: We can’t use Deku’s story to say that BNHA already showed us that Dai would be fine because Dai has a quirk where Deku did not, therefore Deku’s path would not be open to Dai.  To this, I would reply that neither Deku nor Dai specify that Dai wants/is able to be a top Hero, merely that he be the kind of Hero people can admire—which the story has also already proven true!
Ojiro got into UA with nothing but one (1) extra limb.
Manual has a perfectly middling quirk that turned out to be absolutely crucial in two different wars because it was the right quirk at the right time.
Wash’s quirk makes strong bubbles.
Like, this list is not short.  Manifest Plates might or might not make Dai Hero Billboard material, but one of the major points of the endgame was the sublime and noble value of helping when you can, in the way that you can.  So to reiterate, we didn’t need that to be proven again in the epilogue.
If anything, going the route of retreading the same story makes the epilogue much worse! Not only do we not get to see how this society is helping the people the old society most profoundly failed—victims who fall through the cracks and become Villains—but in seeing yet another a weak kid being mocked for his heroic aspirations, we find that we’ve barely moved a step beyond the exact same place we started.
That’s the message Horikoshi chose to go with, for both the closing chapters of the story and the story’s final volume cover.  Truly, as art that summarizes the story goes, it’s a masterful choice!  And that's the whole problem. The cover of Volume 42 is a perfect illustration of the self-absorbed, cynical, cyclical nature of BNHA's endgame. Little wonder, then, that it's hated by the same people who hated said endgame.

i thought the ending couldn't be more disappointing and then this japanese tweet proved me wrong
Tumblr media
because all of this is true. Ochako and Izuku will never forget Toga and Tenko and half of their epilogue was about this, however messily done. Ochako dedicated herself to creating better conditions for people like Toga, because she saw how badly Toga was suffering and despite failing to save her and give her a brighter future, she committed to building that future on her own, selflessly gifting it to others. Izuku had failed to save Tenko despite wanting to, and this weights on his conscience eight years later, and will continue to haunt him in the form of Shigaraki's ghost watching him, not letting him forget himself in the happy ending of joining his hero classmates and achieving his dream.
it's still messy and unfaithful as fuck, but at least these two endings still show that the consequences were there. the unfair deaths of the villains weren't simply swept under the rug and forgotten after a few sad talks about them.
and the thing these two cases share in common? Ochako and Izuku really didn't owe it to Toga and Shigaraki to save them. they didn't. they were hero kids thrown in the middle of the war these very villains waged on them. they both were younger than their respective villains, they both were hurt by these villains, they had no prior history with them, and having shared a few conversations was enough to make them emphasize with and humanize the villains. nothing that happened to Himiko and Tenko was inflicted on them by Ochako and Izuku, and yet just seeing that, hearing about that was enough to ignite sympathy in their hearts. because, you know, they are heroes. they are there to save people from suffering. and even when those people are the ones actively hurting them and their friends, they are mature enough to set that aside and attempt to save their human lives.
enter the star of the show, the only character in this story who despite having committed truly villainous acts, is allowed to go consequences free without a single care in the world. Enji. the person who had single-handedly fucked Touya up to the point his mental state was too messed up even for AFO to deal with. he had given life to this baby, and he was constantly made aware of how badly his attitude is affecting this child by Rei. and he couldn't be bothered to do anything for him, not even to look at him. the fire on Sekoto was 100% Enji's fault, not only because he couldn't be bothered to come visit his son on his day off when Touya had asked him to, but also because the number two hero on his day off was too slow to come to the forest near his house to save Touya from the fire or from All for One. this makes Touya being kept under AFO's care for the following 3 years Enji's responsibility, as he was the only one who could have saved Touya from AFO. even after Touya wakes up from his coma and immediately runs to his house as fast as he can, it's Enji's behaviour alone that makes him decide against making his presence known to the family for the following 7 years. this excuse of a father can't even mourn the death of a son he explicitly blames himself for in such way that won't make his entire existence feel meaningless to him.
and after Touya reveals himself to Enji personally as Dabi? he proves that he still hasn't changed at all and utterly fails to do anything about the situation while Shouto has to repeatedly remind him of it. not only was he procrastinating, the narrative was coddling him the entire time, with the support of other heroes and sidekicks, who despite being shown the truth about Enji, choose to ignore it. even the family he has been abusing for years, the family who was mourning Touya together, joins their efforts to support Enji.
Touya's only desires were to be seen and to be heard. both went unanswered, as after showing the world the unfiltered truth of the misery his father had caused to him, the world covered their earths and turned away. after showing himself to his family, they keep looking at Enji, not at him.
even at the very end, the end of the family's hell is more about Enji than about any other character. he is the only one allowed to talk about his feelings in depth, while the rest of them are reduced to barebone imitations of their previously established characters used as props for supporting Enji's character resolution (with the exception of Touya, who is physically unable to speak for longer than 5 minutes a day anymore. wow). even Natsuo cutting off Enji is less about the latter being a horrible excuse of a father and more about Enji's great stoicism accepting everything the family throws at him with a heroic face. Rei's character no longer makes sense because exactly a month ago her mental state and the trauma inflicted on her by this very man didn't allow her to face him at all. and now she is suddenly okay with becoming his caretaker? why is she taking her responsibility for Touya and not talking about Enji's responsibility at all? this was a man who had abused her so badly she had a psychotic episode. you don't just shrug off things like this. you don't sit in a psychiatric ward for ten years after that, waiting to be let out and jump on the first chance of making yourself useful for your abuser. you don't set aside the relationships with the children he had hurt and he had made you hurt to devote yourself fully to your damn abuser. someone take this poor woman out of this Stockholm syndrome relationship.
at this point Touya not being allowed to die is the worst offence, because the survival wasn't granted to him to heal. it was given to him for the singular purpose of making Endeavor look slightly less bad. Enji never even talks about failing to save Touya (and neither is Shouto allowed to). if you wanted to save him, then him being stuck immobile and isolated from the world with only months left to live is not 'the time Shouto gave us with him' it's a failure. he's not your damn pet, why is the narrative making him into one?
Touya had wanted to die. Shouto points this out, Touya himself talks about it. Enji was the one who didn't want him to die. he also didn't want to die himself. somehow, his desire is the only one that is fulfilled, while even Shouto's dream of eating soba with his older brother goes ignored.
and afterwards? Enji happily moves on from this with the new family he had found for himself, while Touya's childhood desire of his family looking at him is fulfilled in the most grotesque way possible. and the family's dream of having a home away from Endeavor? not a chance lmao

I didn’t really care about the “awakening vs hysterical strength” argument but seeing all of the “Touya now has ice so everything he went through just kind of falls flat” takes have me like
Tumblr media
Actually, it really doesn’t even have to play into the awakening vs hysterical strength argument
How is THAT the conclusion people come to with Touya’s arc after everything
Boiling his entire story down to what stupid power he has (whether temporarily or forever after this)
