Sunday
Today is a weekend like any other; you’re lounging on the triplets’ couch.
The tv is playing as background noise. Chris is on his laptop working on new Fresh Love designs while you lay next to him scrolling pinterest. You've known each other long enough that you can enjoy each other's company without forcing conversation. Simply being around him allows you to relax, and vice versa. You can’t find that with many people.
A sex scene causes the pair of you to look up. You exchange looks and chuckle like teenagers at it.
Chris breaks the awkward silence.
“Is it actually that good or is she playing it up?”
“Don’t know.” I shrug and go back to my phone.
I can see Chris’s brows furrow from my peripheral vision.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean I’ve never had a guy go down on me before.”
“What?”
You look up from your phone.
“…What.” You echo.
“No, what do you mean you’ve never had head before? You have a boyfriend. You’ve had a boyfriend for 3 months.”
Your cheeks get warm.
Think of a way to brush this off.
“It’s not a big deal. Not everyone’s into that.”
He seems stunned, gaze focused on his sneakers.
“... Do you do it for him?”
A sigh leaves your lips, “Chris-”
“No, listen to me. If he’s not reciprocating then the problem clearly isn't that he's uncomfortable. It's that he's selfish.”
Who does Chris think he is that he can judge your love life?
“This is none of your business.” You scoff.
“I think I should go.” You stand up and grab your bag.
Chris doesn’t give up yet.
“Okay, forget about that part for a second. When’s the last time he took you out? When's the last time he surprised you?”
You're struggling to swallow down a still-beating heart. You're avoiding eye contact with an angry version of one of your closest friends, and you’re trying to block out the possibility that what he's saying could be true.
“I’ll see you later, Chris.”
7:00 pm
Chris: I'm sorry. I overstepped earlier. just think you deserve better.
You read and reread the message. Typing out a reply and deleting it. Maybe what you need is space. You put your phone on do not disturb and crawl under the covers.
Trying to distance yourself from Chris would prove to be a waste of time because you end up having a dream about him.
“Hey gorgeous” a voice whispers in your ear.
It sounds familiar but there’s no one else with you in this room, so you can’t match the voice with a face. Whoever it’s coming from, their voice sounds like silk.
You're twisting your head around to try and find the source. Whoever’s in here with you finds that amusing because laughter follows.
“I'm over here, goof.”
It’s him. He walks over to you with a smile on his face and those big blue eyes.
“What are you doing here?” you asked
“I just missed you.” he says as he grabs your hand and twirls you around.
1:12 am
Well, that’s a first.
Monday
Chris opened the front door.
“Hey, I’m so glad you wanted to come over.” He said smiling.
Your face however wasn’t as cheerful.
“Yeah about that,”
You cleared your throat and walked inside.
“I think we should spend a little time apart. Like a refresh.”
His expression dropped instantly. You can’t keep eye contact. It’s too hard.
“What?”
“It’s not personal, it’s-”
“Did he put you up to this?”
“Chris , this is my relationship, stay out of it.” You say sternly.
“How can I when you’re all I think about?”
The air in the room gets thick.
“What?”
“I mean,” He scrunched his eyes and rubs his forehead. Flipping through the pages of his brain for the right words.
“I could treat you better than him.”
You laugh, “What are you talking about?”
He slowly brings his hand up and tucks a stray piece of hair behind your ear.
“You know it’s true.”
He takes a step toward me, his breath on my cheeks.
“I can make you feel good.”
You involuntarily gulped, which caused him to smirk. He tries to hide it.
Your mouth moves but no sound emits from it. You feel paralyzed.
He must be bluffing… right?
“Let me show you.” he whispered, pulling you out of your thoughts.
You don’t know exactly when he stepped closer but your noses are now touching.
I need to stop this.
“I have a boyfriend.” You say in a meek voice.
Chris very lightly put his right hand on your stomach. You can feel the warmth of his large hand through your shirt.
“Does he make you nervous like I do?”
Chris' eyes fall to your lips.
“If you want me to stop, I will. Just say the word.”
Shit.
Soft, pink lips touch yours. You don’t kiss back but don’t run away either. Just wanting to take in the dimensions and texture of his lips. He starts to pull back.
Wait, don’t go anywhere.
You press your lips forward, chasing him.
It makes him smile into the kiss, which in turn makes you smile. The weird sensation causes you both to start laughing.
He straightens up.
“I wanna be with you too. Wo don’t know why I was ever with him in the first place.”
Chris can’t contain his smile. He covers his mouth.
“Sorry. I know I should be more… apologetic? I guess? But I’m not. I want you all to myself.”
“Yes, you've made that quite clear.”
You pull Chris back in for a kiss by his hoodie, it makes his insides stir. He places both his hands on the sides of your face, deepening the kiss.
You pull back for air.
“I should go tell him it’s over before things go any further.”
“Ok.”
But Chris goes right back to kissing you. Sliding his thumb across your cheek.
It’s so dreamy. You have to will yourself to stop.
“Ok I’m serious this time!” You chuckle. “Can I come back tonight?”
“I’d really like that.”
4:15 pm
Me: just left his house. whew.
Chris: im proud of u and so grateful.
6:00pm
“How long have you liked me?”
“Almost our entire friendship. I don’t think I realize it until you started dating Andrew.”
Laying on Chris’s chest is the happiest you’ve felt in months. You two have been talking about all the things that made you fall for each other. He’s been rubbing your back for the past 20 minutes but decides to put his hand under your shirt to enhance the feeling.
You sighed and relaxed even more on top of him, closing your eyes.
“Damn, you have some knots right here.”
“Ugh, yeah. That’s where I carry stress.”
“Here, lay on your stomach. I bet I can relieve it.”
Chris moves so you can lay flat. Once you’re comfortable he straddles your hips and brings his hand to the hem of your shirt.
“Is it ok if I bring this up?”
“Mhm.”
He lifts your shirt to where your bra starts ,then gets to work.
Maybe it’s the skin to skin contact, or the fact that your muscles were tense, but his hands feel heavenly. You can’t help but let out a string of sighs.
“That feeling good?”
“Yes, oh my god. Thank you so much.”
He chuckles. “Anything for my girl.”
After a few minutes of the same motions he decides to explore new territory.
He rubs his hands over your hips, your ribs, and now your thighs.
“Seems like there’s a lot of heat coming from your legs, baby.”
“You’re such a good massager it’s hardly my fault.” You tease back.
You try to close your legs together but he doesn’t like that. Keeping a hand right between them.
He brings his mouth right next to your ear. Lowering his voice.
“Do you need relief somewhere else, baby?”
While he talks he maneuvers his hand so it’s nearly flat against your clothed center.
You try to keep it together. You can’t already be at a loss for words.
You nod into his pillow.
“Turn over for me. Let me see that pretty face.”
Your cheeks heat up immediately as you position yourself on your back. The two of you make eye contact and any anxiety you had about intimacy with Chris is gone.
“We can stop whenever you want.” He says before kissing you.
“Let me show you how a real man behaves.”
He smirks and lowers himself to your stomach. Kissing your happy trail. Leaving tiny bites.
Since you’re wearing sweats he slides them off in seconds, taking your underwear with them. He tosses them over his shoulder and they hit some things in his dresser, causing them to fall. It makes you giggle but Chris is entranced by the sight before him.
“Jesus Christ.” He says to himself.
He runs his nose where your leg meets your hip. Kissing further and further. Creating a puddle before he even touches you. He licks your inner thighs. Painting them with purple marks.
Finally, his mouth is where you crave it. He’s apprehensive at first but once you let out your first moan it’s all over for him.
Chris sucks your clit and your mind goes blank. Nothing ever felt like this before.
“I can’t believe you’ve been hiding this from me.”
When he goes back down he licks a stripe from the bottom of your pussy to your clit.
Your back arches off the bed.
“That’s it.” he says into my skin.
He’s lapping at your folds like it’s water and he’s been in a drought. Grabbing onto your thighs to make sure you don’t go anywhere. Not that you'd want to, but his actions do cause quite a bit of squirming.
“God, you’re everything.”
It almost seemed like he was saying it to himself. Like he couldn’t believe youre real.
“Next time you want something done right, come to me.”
“Fuck yes.” You moan.
When he lifts his face up again, your juices are dripping down to his neck. You’re so mesmerized by the sight you don’t register what he's saying. It just sounds like white noise.
Chris tsks.
“Looks like I fucked you dumb, huh? Poor thing.”
“Shut up.”
You push his face back down. He starts fucking you with his tongue.
“Yes ma’am.”
Jesus
Your thighs tighten around his neck, he squeezes them back as a response.
“You taste so sweet, baby. Like syrup.”
You can’t do anything more than whimper and grind into his face.
Chris grabbed the hand that was clenching the bedsheets and guided it to his hair. You happily thread your fingers through.
He touches you like you're all he asked god for. The sounds coming from you are his favorite song. This is the alchemy he does.
“Oh god,” your voice goes up an octave.
“Are you gonna cum for me, pretty girl?”
“Please, so close.”
“Cmon, be a good girl and cum on my face.”
He made you a whimpering mess. Arousal dripping down your legs, down his lips, on the sheets. Chris continues to reach his tongue deep inside you while drawing figure eights on your clit.
In an instant your vision goes black.
The next minute was spent shaking and catching your breath. Goosebumps littered all over my body.
You don’t know when but at some point Chris must’ve turned you so you were laying on your side. He pulled a lightweight blanket over you and was now playing with your hair.
“Hey pretty girl.” He said softly as you opened your eyes.
“Hi”
“You did so well for me.” He kisses your forehead. “I’m so proud of you. Don’t move.”
He quickly wet a washcloth and grabbed a water bottle.
You could drift off to sleep at any moment, but Chris made sure to clean you up first.
It felt nice to be taken care of for once. He made sure you were warm enough. every few minutes he laid kisses on your face. You were too tired to say anything but he could see how happy you were. That was enough for him

Welcome to the 52drabbles prompt list for 2024 —which, amusingly, has 53 prompts! (Thank you Leap Year!)
The goal behind this year-long opt-in challenge is to post a drabble every week. To be actively writing, and actively posting, all year.
To that end we've built a list of prompts for each week in 2024 —plus a handful of alternative prompts that can be subbed in for any week (or used as prompts for bonus drabbles, because MOAR drabbles is always good!) The prompts include images, songs, random words or phrases, tropes, and in April, for poetry month - poems.
If the prompt is in double quotes, the prompt must appear in the drabble, otherwise it's meant as inspiration. During April you can choose to write a poem of the type specified as your prompt, or write *about* that type of poem. For song prompts, pick out a lyric if you like, or be inspired by the vibe of the song. Whatever works!
Also included is a list of lengths - you may choose any length from the list to pair with any of the weekly prompts.
Although the challenge is to write a drabble a week, it's a completely voluntary, opt-in sort of challenge. No hard and fast deadlines, no turning them in - just write and post. If you're posting on tumblr, please tag them with @52drabbles so we can find them for monthly roundup posts!
All versions of Bond and all ships are welcome. And if you're not in the Bond fandom? Yeah, you can play, too :)
Pick one of the following lengths each week for your drabbles:

JOHNNY WINTER at Woodstock 1969
Inevitably, given the late start to the Sunday, August 17, 1969 festivities, the clock now ticked its way into Monday morning as Johnny Winter made his way onto the Woodstock stage. He had recently released his self-titled second album and was carving out a name for himself as one of the hottest guitarists around. Wasting no time, Johnny took to center-stage and opened with a powerhouse take on J.B. Lenoir’s blues classic “Mama, Talk To Your Daughter,” effortlessly peeling off some mind-bending licks.
The stomping original “Leland Mississippi Blues” followed, and an early high point of the set came with a scorching version of “Mean Town Blues,” another Winter original from his first album. This featured a lengthy breakdown section in the middle of the song, with Johnny showcasing his inimitable slide guitar chops played on a 12-string Fender fitted with only six strings (for maximum string separation, thus making it easier to play slide).
The set settled into its midway point with a lengthy cover of B.B. King’s “You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now,” which drifted into James Gordon’s “Mean Mistreater,” the latter of which had also been included on Johnny Winter. At this point, Johnny brought out an equally brilliant musician, his brother Edgar, to join him on keyboards and saxophone for the remainder of the set. The brothers began with a fun version of Bo Diddley’s “I Can’t Stand It” before Edgar virtually tore his voice apart with an impassioned rendering of John D. Loudermilk’s classic “Tobacco Road.”
The main set ended with another up-tempo cover, a version of Ray Charles’ “Tell The Truth.” For the encore, Johnny pulled out a crazed version of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” which (as he informed the crowd) had recently been recorded by his band and would be released two months later on the Second Winter album.

"The Best Day" from Fearless (Taylor's Version)
Tumblr media
And now I know why the all the trees change in the fall I know you were on my side Even when I was wrong And I love you for giving me your eyes Staying back and watching me shine and I didn't know if you knew So I'm taking this chance to say That I had the best day with you today
"Change" from Fearless (Taylor's Version)
Tumblr media
Tonight we'll stand, get off our knees Fight for what we've worked for all these years And the battle was long, it's the fight of our lives But we'll stand up champions tonight It was the night things changed Can you see it now? These walls that they put up to hold us back fell down It's a revolution, throw your hands up 'Cause we never gave in And we'll sing hallelujah
"Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince" from Lover
Tumblr media
My team is losing, battered and bruising I see the high fives between the bad guys Leave with my head hung, you are the only one Who seems to care American stories burning before me I'm feeling helpless, the damsels are depressed Boys will be boys then, where are the wise men?
"Paper Rings" from Lover
Tumblr media
In the winter, in the icy outdoor pool When you jumped in first, I went in too I'm with you even if it makes me blue Which takes me back To the color that we painted your brother's wall Honey, without all the exes, fights, and flaws We wouldn't be standing here so tall, so Kiss you once 'cause I know you had a long night (Oh) Kiss you twice 'cause it's gonna be alright Three times 'cause you waited your whole life
"Starlight" from Red (Taylor's Version)
Tumblr media
And I said, "Oh my, what a marvelous tune" It was the best night, never would forget how we moved The whole place Was dressed to the nines And we were dancing, dancing Like we're made of starlight, starlight He said, "Look at you, worrying so much about things you can't change You'll spend your whole life singing the blues If you keep thinking that way" He was tryna to skip rocks on the ocean saying to me "Don't you see the starlight, starlight Don't you dream impossible things"

Tasting Notes
I was semi-prepared. I threw in some new records, brought my softside bag with more records in it, and showed up more or less on time. Elevator worked, so I rolled to the booth and set myself up. I usually start with something loud and declaratory, but this time I wanted to ease into the set with dynamics and subtlety. The "Joan Of Arc" 12" from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark is usually slotted deeper in the set, but I liked hearing it front and center.
I goosed the tempo with the Kylie mashup, and followed that with Foxy, the Cuban-American soul disco band. The TK Records 45RPM 12" kicks so hard that Jules had to come up and turn the mains down because it was so loud in the front. It's hard to tell from the booth what the volume is in various parts of the space. Some places it's loud, and in other parts it's low. The booth is in a "dead" spot. It's not bad, it just takes tweaking. I'm there to cut through the noise, not to be noise.
Tumblr media
Jules is back up during the Third World 12" to bring the volume up again. She asked me if different records sound different, or are recorded differently. It's a great question, one that I consider all the time during the acquisition phase. Some records jump off the turntable, and some records sound dead. I'm always on the hunt for 45RPM 12" cuts, but depending on when you play them, what records surround them in the set, how many people there are in the bar, and any number of other variances, things can fall flat. I've had things fall flat during some sets that were bangers in previous sets. And, a lot of it is timing – whoever is there listening, their energy also contributes to the vibe. I watch Tavis behind the bar; if I can get him moving, then I know I'm onto something.
Someone came to me early in the set to see what I was all about, and when I told him I only played vinyl, he said "Oh, you play '80s stuff." Which made me immediately put something from the '70s on, and follow it up with a contemporary track. Who says I don't take requests?  I got more contemporary artists mixed in tonight: Billy Nomates, Orbital, Ari Lennox. And I like to throw reggae records into the flow freestanding, and not in blocks of reggae records. They have such a great sound for sound systems. Tailor made for it. I could never cut it as a genre DJ. It just doesn't interest me. I love music in its totality. And the things I don't love? I just leave them out.
Tumblr media
My methodology, such as it is, is half improv, half improbability. I don't just play what I like, but I like what I play. I play music I can respond to. I feel at home in the Spacebar, so I play music that you would hear if I were playing music for a party in my home. I'm not there to be the show, but to play my part in the show. I didn't play the Bad Brains, Judas Priest and the Clipse to show how smart I am, I played it because I thought it would sound good. And it did. And it helped the rest of the set gel. I was having a hard time finding my footing early on. It wasn't bad, I just felt tentative, sticking with things I knew. I don't construct set lists beforehand, although I do choose records for the crate that I think will work, and build it up from there. It is a limitation, but limitations are not a bad thing. I am employed to construct a vibe, and while I am averse to taking requests, I do like it when people ask for things like Prince. That got them the long version of Appolonia 6, and later on, the first Prince record I ever bought, "I Wanna Be Your Lover." I heard that on the radio in 1978, and instantly became a fan of the man. DJ IGA says that "Sex Shooter" is the hallmark Mossback record.
The three crowds that rotated through the bar this night were odd. I guess I was spoiled by the Rollergirls showing up the previous two Saturdays I played. Those folks bring an energy to the proceedings!
I was trying to get to 2 a.m., but I fell short and ended the night on the Herb Alpert, "Rise" 12" I got out of the used bins at the Record Exchange. Cheap. I was struck again at the marriage of that jam that Diddy looped for B.I.G. It's genius. And something to aspire to. There's a lot out there, if you are open to hearing it.
The next Third Space Saturday is 16 September 2023. Going to continue reading "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. It's very inspiring. And digging, forever digging. Perhaps a little thinning and reorganizing. And, listening. Always listening.

The price of a July 4th cookout has gone up 15% since President Biden took office.
With information obtained from the American Farm Bureau on specific-item price changes in 2021, the White House touted a decrease in a Fourth of July cookout price by 16 cents, compared to the previous year, from $35.70 to $35.54.
"Hot dog, the Biden economic plan is working," the White House said in a tweet highlighting the price drop, after Biden was in office roughly six months.
However, this year's cost, when compared to the costs cited by the White House from the AFB's list in 2021, is $40.90 – a 15% increase from 2020, before the president took office, according to an analysis by Just the News.
The biggest price change for any item on the 2021 White House list is cookout staple ground beef, which has increased roughly 30% since 2020, from $4.45 to $5.77 a pound.
Though the cost of a July 4 cookout in 2021 was 16 less than the year before, the 2023 version will cost roughly $5.20 more than one did in 2020.
The AFB's list of 4th of July cookout items does not include some other very common cookout items' changing prices. For example, the price of beer and other alcoholic drinks has gone up almost 13% since July of 2020; the price of hotdogs has increased 14%; chicken has increased 21%; and steak has increased 16%, a specific price tracking website says.
In addition, the price of a Fourth cookout this year, or in the past three year, is likely more expensive than the White House projections, considering two pounds of ground beef is only enough for about eight hamburgers, which wouldn't be a lot for a an Independence Day cookout beyond an immediate family.
And price are significantly higher in some parts of the country, particularly in major cities and surrounding suburbs.
At a northern Virginia grocery store on Monday, ground beef costing $5.99 a pound, a New York Strip steak cost $15.99 a pound and a 12-pack of Stella Artois beer was $20.99.
"I was surprised to see that hotdogs cost so much," Falls Church, Virginia resident John DeCelle told Just the News. "Celebrating the holiday just hurts my wallet a lot more than it used to."
In 2022, the price of the cookout, according to the AFB, was the highest it has ever been – up 17% from the previous year. In 2023, the price went down a little less than 3%.
The price of cheese has gone down 13% since 2020, according the the AFB, the only item on the list to drop in price since Biden took office.

Release: April 25, 1988
Lyrics:
How does it feel
To treat me like you do?
When you've laid your hands upon me
And told me who you are
I thought I was mistaken
I thought I heard your words
Tell me how do I feel
Tell me now, how do I feel
Those who came before me
Lived through their vocations
From the past until completion
They'll turn away no more
I still find it so hard
To say what I need to say
But I'm quite sure that you'll tell me
Just how I should feel today
I see a ship in the harbor
I can and shall obey
But if it wasn't for your misfortune
I'd be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken
And I thought I heard you speak
Tell me, how do I feel
Tell me now, how should I feel
Now I stand here waiting
Songwriter:
I thought I told you to leave me
While I walk down to the beach
Tell me how does it feel
When your heart grows cold, grows cold...
Peter Hook / Gillian Lesley Gilbert / Stephen Paul David Morris / Bernard Sumner
SongFacts:
'Blue Monday' is the most successful and best-known song by the British new wave band New Order and, due to its innovative sound engineering and early sampling sounds, is considered a pioneering piece of electronic dance music and synth pop as well as a pioneer of techno. The original version of the track was released in 1983 on the 12″ maxi single of the same name.
The song, consisting of four verses, begins with a pounding sixteenth-note drum machine beat (Oberheim DMX), into which keyboardist Gillian Gilbert slowly fades in a melody as a sequencer loop. According to the band members, they did it in the wrong place, causing the melody to run out of sync with the beat; the supposed "bug" was eventually retained as a welcome feature. The piece then builds up in a cascading fashion; after an unusually long intro, consisting of a pulsating Moog synthesizer sequence and Peter Hook's electric bass line and hi-hat breaks, the vocal part of the piece finally begins, performed emotionlessly and somberly by Bernard Sumner. Uncharacteristically for a "hit song," Sumner, as the song's lyricist, chose not to use a standard verse as the chorus. A staccato of sound effects follows: a succession of drumbeats resembling machine gun fire, and the then-popular synth pitch-bending sound of a "crashing airplane" that can also be found in the long disco version of Soft Cells' Tainted Love' (1981). The piece culminates in a spherical chorus sample and multi-track superimpositions (overdubs) of synthesizer melody and bass line, until it finally fades out.
As with most New Order tracks, the title bears no relation to the lyrics, which again leaves a lot of room for interpretation; Although Sumner rarely comments publicly on his lyrics, a reference to the suicide of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis and statements about the effects of Curtis were constructed, as has often been the case since the former Joy Division band members began as New Order ' Death imputed to the remaining. Hidden allusions to drug experiments were also suspected in the text, and that the band had been on an LSD trip during production.

8/12-13/24
monday - tuesday
fighting through my stupid sleep schedule still.
trying to push it to at least 5pm today. let's see how far i can go. it's almost 4 pm now.
here's a weird dream i had today:
video game crowdfunded, connor omalley on the team, he makes a video saying they were over-funded, they met all the stretchgoals with extra cash to spare and they don’t want to overdo the game so they’re donating all of the money.
the game is a strange survival horror game. it’s one of these ones with low poly graphics. but it’s weird, it’s more pixel-y, i guess like signalis but it doesn’t look quite like that and honestly after a while in the game/dream it just turns over to be real life, like it was a portal and now i’m there. the game’s about a girl and there’s this refuge for humanity that’s at the shore of some huge city, it’s like a giant boat or something. there’s people living on the boat in villages but there’s also huge abandoned zones because of the monsters. i don’t really know what they are. they hunt you though and some of them are unkillable. resources are rare, there’s a point where i was collecting more things in my inventory that were made for holding random things like bullets or like anything, than anything to attack with. the cutscenes were bizarre. i wish i could remember the monsters more. they weren’t absent, they were just, i don’t know, they felt vast and concept-like, almost, at least now they do, there was an over-arching sense of dread from them, like they meant doom no matter what, there’s doom no matter what, it felt intensely futile, they didn’t feel nautically themed, they didn’t come from the sea, they just came, at all, i remember one’s face was something painted, like rothko but childish, little lines and it could be the shape of a face if you squinted but it was more elemental than that, is wore a cloak i think, it hunted you. the cutscenes, there was one character, or i remember this one cutscene, arriving at the first village, the people of the village try to kill you by making this stairwell fall, when the only kind person living there saves you rebalancing it. there’s one character, he’s wearing a plugsuit, a lot of his cutscenes are from his pov, maybe it just turns into a different game, he’s inside a mech and he’s trying and failing to fight this thing destroying the city. the cutscene ends, next time you see him he is trying to strategize and a little character in his hud speaks to him, says, why are you trying so hard, have you considered dealing with this any other way? he realizes then he’s not really working for one faction who is trying to kill them outright, he doesn’t really know what’s going on, he gets out of the mech, and looks for a certain resource. he finds on the ground a giant version of his own head, he has to feed it a special kind of blood, and he goes and finds it, when he feeds it to the face, it vomits it back out, and the pool foments a blue nest, from the blue nest another of his heads emerge, giant with small stocky limbs, he wonders what is going on, he watches the second of the heads eat the first head, and this character begins to die, he is injured terribly, he watches as this other head eats himself, he runs to his mech i think, and sits on life support trying to escape. there’s a character who looks like damon rush with long purple hair, he’s on the other side of the mech people, trying to fight what seems like an infection in earth i guess. there’s a way the world in the dream recalls bloodborne. weird. anyway there’s a point where the protagonist says someone couldn’t tell if he’s a boy or a girl, he says, people act so confused these days. he is mostly not in a mech, he seems to be trying to help you. they remind me of parasite eve, maybe, or the sequence where the rat turns into the monster, it’s the points between, like the mutation and the obvious and itchy kinda pain, that’s what some of the monsters felt like. they seemed zombielike in the way any monster kind of seems zombie-like after resident evil but they weren’t. they were like from a hole in the world and they were destroying all kinds of things. i guess like crow country too.
inexplicable dream, weird how my dreams end up referring to evangelion and survival horror games with some kind of regularity. i guess i just really like those things!
i edited some writing a bit today, just a bit, i think i'm going to put a rule in effect that if i open twitter i should just go edit instead. though i don't want to make editing a punishment, just remind myself it's something that would be better for me to do, instead of looking at twitter. really this is coming up because there's only so many good posts on that website, i already hardly go on there but i feel like it's starting to creep back up in use, and i should just curb that as much as possible.
i've also been playing guitar a bit today, mostly out of frustration... i cannot get that synth sound right, i feel like, or i get close but it still feels sterile and i think that's from focusing on it too much and not really working on writing anything out. i've put my guitar in standard tuning and have been fooling around w/ tabs from some bands trying to figure out how they play/what chords / riffs they do that feel cheeky. cuz i need that... idk... i really would like to have some more of that going on too.

and definitely part of it w/ the red light sting is the synth sound... which i really like... but idk, i want that cheeky guitar riffing down in some way. even if it's not perfect. so i at least want to figure out how to write some riffs like that.
really though i can't sit here and force it or anything, i guess just trying to understand at all and sleeping on it can help me out though, that's all i'm really hoping for. in the one tab i can find for the red light sting i notice a lot of octave chords, which is crazy to me and part of why i tried so hard w/ the guitar sound, not because they sound bad normally w/ the synths i make but they're kind of indistinct, i suppose.
here is the song:

lotsa half step moves too which i'm naturally fond of. really it seems like maybe i should try writing songs in lower bpms... a bit.. maybe... just maybe...... maybe 160+ always is kind of limiting...... but i love it.... i love to be #fast and #freaky.
also of course in that song it's barely holding itself together time signature wise, maybe i can focus on that too? idk. writing lyrics around that seems like it might be fucked up. but also i do like the idea of having riffs that loop out of sync w/ the drums so they line up in strange ways and then that cycles into the next riff. we'll see. i'd also like to mix in like, more pv-y emoviolence-y style riffing into the cheeky stuff too. which just seems like a recipe for making myself irritated with myself because what does any of that even mean?
without the labels, what i means is i want there to be super disso weird power chord parts, scrape-y and freaky, and not power-chordy also, sometimes just pure freakout 16th note psycho stuff.

i think sometimes i am afraid of going chromatic, looking at more tabs, my writing is sometimes bogged down w/ the notion that idk, more complexity and jumps in notes = something being more freaky but really one of the special things abt usurp synapse for instance is their really high trebly riffs that are just kinda totally chromatic, i should try and mess w/ note timing a little more and get jerkier grooves down in those bits, though.
anyway i am making stuff too complex for myself probably... but it's good i guess, i am challenging myself re: writing songs and figuring parts out. it's usually good for me to experience that.
it's for some reason very relaxing to hear usurp synapse right now. that's nice, to have that. it's funny how this kind of music works for me, it feels like a positive kind of fire. if that makes any sense.
other stuff today.... well i made ramen,,, my gf ordered ihop since we're staying up so late to fix things, , , just usual house stuff. i'm looking forward to sleeping honestly. we sat here at my computer and i put my headphones on her head and clicked through all these recent kpop songs, just because it seemed funny, we did that for like 2 hours it felt like. i merely heard some of the songs, i mostly just saw the videos. there's so much to kpop videos, i think the really impressive thing is how void of any meaning they are. they're such total platforms for presenting these people to you, no concept, nothing, it's looping imagery to offer a support for another image, it's like, i dunno, if there's arguments to be made about which is not communication, or the non-communicative, here we can maybe point to like brakhage, where he breaks from all narratives right, it's pure image, but there is something else there animating it, it's non-communicative, it's not art that exists within the bounds of having to "say" or admit anything, it is and operates, k-pop music videos are hyper-communicative, they lack the evil of literature in that they are profoundly useful, sometimes they do have character but that's the rare thing. my gf's favorite group i think win a lot in that way, ateez, but honestly that is probably personal bias, but their music video for their song "work" is like... goofy, it's meaningless but it's got a sense of humor about itself. this is kind of rare with k-pop, typically, even if it's silly or something, the silliness is cute and it's supposed to make people likeable, with ateez, one of them is buried in sand and one rides a really hideous cgi ostrich around and it makes strange faces at the camera, they seem kind of goofy and stupid almost. not in a bad way, the affect is still positive, but they're able to be more like, i dunno, i guess it gives the impression of them having a sense of humor, and they seem to actually have one. the other ones are so laser designed, it's almost like it passes through you, it communicates on a level where there's no thought even needed, which i guess brings me to a thought i had, upon noticing how many videos had a lot of ai generated stuff going on. k-pop is probably the farthest ai art has gone i think, in use, in the assumption that like, someone made that but really it's the broader cultural assumptions regarding images that make up those databases ai pulls from that are actually at work and creating things like backdrops and so on, just to make the central figure, whoever is singing, a group dancing, whatever, more... i dunno, digestible feels like the wrong word/notion to pick up on. it reinforces that custodial function almost i feel like. this isn't like some great horror or fear, if anything it's a bit of a relief for me, to come to this thought, because i imagine that if we're going to see ai art popularized, this is the channel by which that will come, and if that's the case, it really defangs all the claims made by anyone who would like to suppose it's some kind of avant-garde. this is what every silly accelerationist really dreams of, the shallow commercial reality of k-pop, which isn't to say anything about the people who decide to make music in those channels, the people in the groups, the producers, it's an industry, they're subjects of wealth, they're frequently very tortured, they aren't shallow themselves probably, it's the structure that subsumes them, it's the channel of commerce, the flow accelerationists fantasize about, it's right there! but for the most part they're blind to it because they want to think... oh i dunno how to put it, it's like that book cute/acc, where the idea is furries and being a cute anime girl and kawaii culture are post-human accelerationist points, pc music, all that stuff, in truth, k-pop's rather fierce and tasteless absorption of all musical history into a modular and faceless thing, this is more what they imagine the future to be. but to say this to them, it feels like they'd dismiss it.
nonetheless i am convinced.
maybe i am just biased here though. i dunno though. frankly most accelerationists are not worth the mental energy i am putting towards them it's just interesting to see something that they'd deem as uncool express what they want/imagine, or at least some formulation of that, it feels like a hole in their theoretical armor. i am probably full of more holes than they though... because i am so stupiddd.
i have to sleep now though, i made it to 6 pm, that's good, hopefully i wake up at like 2-3 at minimum,
byebye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
