At 𝟷ˢᵗ hearing about 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐧'𝐬 tryst greatly upset them… but after considering the political reason for his decision, they were able to bury their jealousy deep down (but it still festered 🫠)
𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐦 prefers their friends to call them by their nickname: “𝐂𝐚𝐥”
They're touch-averse (but are comfortable PERSONALLY making contact with a select few people... & even enjoying it if it's 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐧, his touch is warm & kind 🥺), the only loving touch they experienced growing up was from their mother & 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐨𝐧; after her death, & their 𝟷ˢᵗ time on a battlefield, they began to HATE physical contact 😣
Even though their fathers DESPISE each other, 𝐂𝐚𝐥 & 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐧 get along surprisingly well (agreeing to be fake-date partners has the added bonus of annoying their fathers >:] + they've been mutually crushing on one another since that time at the fountain)
They don't enjoy killing or looking at dead bodies, but their upbringing & unfortunate personal experiences have left them desensitized to a degree (they sadly still have nightmares about everything, though) 💀😮‍💨
𝐂𝐚𝐥 is extroverted, yet shy (mostly due to how others tend to view/treat them), they enjoy going to parties but prefer to “soak in” the atmosphere instead of “actively” taking part in whatever the partygoers are doing
While they've been able to keep their face scar-free, even after all the intensive training they've had, the same cannot be said about the rest of their body (their most noticeable scars are the multiple 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘴 on their shoulder/neck from the bear attack) 🩹
𝐂𝐚𝐥 struggles when dealing with people who genuinely care about their well-being (as most are either afraid of them or want something from them), they're left feeling unsure if they really even deserve it
Most people (i.e. those that don't know them personally) assume their “flat” expressions are due to them being cold & unfriendly; instead they're simply nervous about being around strangers that most likely already have negative preconceived notions about them (😐 <-screaming internally)
𝐂𝐚𝐥 always tries to be as formal/polite as possible with anyone they're unfamiliar with, but when they're around those they consider friends, their behavior & manner of speech become much more casual/sarcastic
They did their best to avoid completing the 𝑏𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒 (the very thought of killing another HUMAN made them feel sick, even hunting animals was hard for them), but watching their mother being beheaded broke something inside them ... ending in a room full of frozen corpses with only their mother's body left unscathed 🥶
In the aftermath of their icy explosion, 𝐂𝐚𝐥 spent their days in a semi-catatonic daze (they finally came back to themselves the day their father returned home; sobbing into his chest as he held them which was sadly the only time he's ever done so)
Everytime 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐧 calls them “𝐻𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑦” they melt inside (despite knowing he's just teasing them & that his choice of words don't mean anything in the end... not that they'd want him to 😳!!!)
Despite their father's teachings, 𝐂𝐚𝐥 prefers to approach life/others with an empathetic attitude (but will NOT hesitate to “dispose of” anything that threatens them or those they care about)
After the death of their mother, they began hiding their emotions; only revealing their “vulnerabilities” to those they trust & feel completely safe with 🥹 (like 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐧/𝐍𝐢𝐱 once they're officially together ❤️‍🩹)
𝐂𝐚𝐥 is very attentive when it comes to the needs & comforts of those they care about (physical, mental, emotional, etc...)
When it comes to conflict, they always try to resolve things peacefully… & unlike their father, they show mercy to those who honestly seek it (killing is only a last resort for them)
In a rare moment of rebellion, 𝐂𝐚𝐥 refused to execute 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐨𝐧 & instead swung their sword at their father 🗡😠 (they would not kill the only positive male figure they had in their life)… they also demanded that 𝐅𝐢𝐨𝐧 be buried with dignity
𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐦 means “𝘥𝘰𝘷𝘦” (Latin-> Scottish)

On Peter and Violence
I think there’s two popular fanon camps regarding Peter Pevensie’s relationship with violence, and though there are certainly plenty of others who, like me, would disagree with both of them, it is those two versions of Peter that I keep seeing pop up again and again.
The first is that of the powerful, raging, warrior king: the version of Peter that speaks more to his mythologized persona within the books than the Peter we actually witness and interact with inside the narrative. His temper is hot, and his sword is fast, and his legacy is soaked in blood. It’s this Peter that lends itself so readily to the (equally fanon) idea that Edmund is the more diplomatic of the two.
The second is that of the pacifist. This idea of Peter is opposed to violence, and only fights under great duress, or because he has been given no other choice; it’s the version of his character that people have snatched from a deleted scene in the “Prince Caspian” film in which he claims he is “thinking about a career in medicine,” and in doing so, distances himself from the war back home. (Although, I would also blame the PC film for the angry, impulsive version of Peter who dominates too much of the fandom; that movie’s interpretation of him is a tragedy.)
Now, of the two, I would prefer the second. It’s at least marginally truer to the boy who “didn’t feel very brave” but did his duty in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” and I appreciate that. However, I also have a personal vendetta against the extreme version of this viewpoint which prioritizes Peter’s peaceful nature over his dutiful courage, and this is why I’m writing out what I believe are the nuances of his character that sometimes get overlooked in favour of idolizing either his strength or his softness.
There is a statement in my mind to describe him that I avoid using, because I know it requires more context than I usually want to give, but here and now, we’ll call it my thesis: Peter prefers problems he can hit.
I don’t think Peter is a violent character. Genuinely, I don’t. And so I imagine those two statements seem pretty contradictory, because how can he not be violent, if violence is also the ideal solution to his problems?
Well, here’s the thing: Peter’s growing up in a war. Heck, he’s growing up in two.
He’s thirteen in the first book, and World War II is breaking out above him, and, more than that, there is nothing he can do about it. What could he do? He’s a kid.
And then, suddenly, he’s in a new world. They tell him he’s meant to be there. They give him a sword, and he takes it silently. They tell him he will be king.
We see him in his fight with the wolf: “Peter did not feel very brave; indeed, he felt he was going to be sick. But that made no difference to what he had to do.” We are told there that violence is not something he takes to lightly; it is a matter of duty for him: to the country that stands behind him, and his sister who is in harm’s way.
He fights a battle. Years pass, and he fights more. He returns to the war he is powerless to fight against, and then finds himself King again, where he comes up with a plan to fight a duel which -- if everything had gone to plan -- would have put no one but himself at risk.
Yes, Peter is steeped in violence. C. S. Lewis tells us at the end of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” that he is a “great warrior,” and when he is mentioned in “The Horse and His Boy,” it is said he’s off battling giants. He is High King, and as such, he has to be a soldier. He chooses to be a soldier. He consistently fights, especially so that others may not have to. He fights to protect. To shield. To provide freedom.
And then he goes back home, and is trapped under war again.
Depending on his birthday, Peter turns eighteen around the time of the end of World War II, meaning I have no reason to believe he ever fought within it; however, National Service continued after the war. And this is where I thought that Peter, ever being driven by duty, would sign up without question. It’s what would be expected of him. And, even more, it’s what he’s been doing for years for a country that isn’t his anymore; how could he not do the same for England?
(I put that in a fic. I had a scene where Peter, freshly eighteen, confessed to Susan he would still have to serve, and Susan said, “But not in the war, and I’m glad of that.” And then -- because it was what Peter did within canon time and time again -- I had him tell her, “But I hope you understand that I’d fight for you. For all of you. If my fighting had any chance of helping to keep you all safe, I would go.” ......And somebody told me that was out of character.)
I don’t mind if somebody really likes the idea of Peter becoming a doctor rather than a soldier. Truly, I understand the appeal. But I do have a problem when somebody tells me I’m wrong for believing Peter would continue to do what he had always canonically done after coming back to England.
Because Peter does have a relationship with violence. He doesn’t have a love for it, but he has been tangled in the necessity of it too many times not to follow through when it needs to be done.
And what happens when you raise a boy in war? What happens when you let him fight it? What happens when he learns the chain reaction: fight the battle, win the war, set them free? And then what happens when you put him into situations that can’t be solved with his hands? Give him enemies he can’t fight? Give him wars he can’t be a part of?
And that’s what I mean by “Peter prefers problems he can hit.”
Not that Peter rushes to violence when it isn’t called for, or that he craves war when he finds himself in peace, or anything else of that angry, vicious nature that some people have come to believe--- Gosh, I think Peter would far rather lay the sword down than ever have to pick it up again.
(But it’s what he does. Time after time.)
Peter is a big brother, ever looking after the others. Peter is the High King, ever doing what Narnia requires. Peter is the loyal servant, ever following Aslan’s instruction. Even if it scares him, it’s what he does.
So I don’t think he likes feeling helpless. I think he likes knowing what to do, and I think intangible problems drive him a little crazy, and I think a sword is a very physical thing that has served him well too many times.
Despite my very obvious complaints against “Prince Caspian’s” movie characterization here, I have to say that this is something I love about “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” Peter’s older in the film than he is in the book. He’s closer to going to war himself. And what do we see him do? We see him distracted by passing soldiers-- not much older than himself. We see him reading on the train: “Biggles Goes To War.” We see him consumed by the war, even up to the point that he mimics WWII battle strategies against the Witch’s army.
This is the Peter I’m talking about: the one who feels sick at violence, and shakes and cries and hugs his sisters when its done, and yet...... does it. Every time.
I feel like there’s a dozen things I may be missing, but I think that’s the gist: Peter’s an unwilling soldier who doesn’t know how to put down his sword.
He’s a great warrior, but not an indiscriminate one. He’s a gentle spirit, but not a passive one. Violence made him, but he is so much more than his violent acts. He’s complex. He’s dutiful. He’s faithful. He’s capable. He fights because he has to, and as long as it’s asked of him, he will continue to do it.
So that’s where I stand. That’s why I may seem to show contradictory versions of Peter throughout my fics and edits and commentary; why I may say he’s not violent and then paint an image of him that ties him to violence anyway.
Whether you disagree is your prerogative. This is, by nature, a nuance-based take, and while I do think there’s wrong interpretations of Peter Pevensie out there, I also believe that there is a lot of room within that nuance for various interpretations to be equally right. This isn’t me making an end-all-and-be-all analysis that everyone else must follow to the letter.
This is just me explaining -- for myself or for anyone else who cares to listen -- what I believe, and how it affects the things I create. <3 So there’s my take on Peter’s complicated relationship with violence: the way it coats him, and yet, doesn’t define him: the way he’s so softhearted, and yet not himself without it.
“For never since we four were Kings and Queens in Narnia have we set our hands to any high matter, as battles, quests, feats of arms, acts of justice, and the like, and then given over; but always what we have taken in hand, the same we have achieved." ~Peter [The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: Chapter XVII: The Hunting of the White Stag]
Disclaimer: none of this is anti-Aslan “look how he traumatized this poor boy” propaganda, and if that is your viewpoint, kindly do not interact with this post. :)

LES FOISFOIS FAVORITE SONG FROM EACH TOUHOU SOUNDTRACK
th01 highly responsive to prayers: gotta be eternal shrine maiden. angel’s legend is good, but eternal shrine maiden just has what the PC-98’s soundboard did best. little beeps and boops that somehow sound so chock-full of emotion. fantastic stuff.
th02 story of eastern wonderland: love-colored magic is, of course, legendary, but my favorite for this game is complete darkness. absolutely masterfully work with that melody.
th03 phantasmagoria of dim.dream: obligatory respects to strawberry crisis to make sure i don’t get mauled for saying this, but reincarnation is my personal favorite off this soundtrack. there isn’t really a place to note this, but the SC-8850 version of reincarnation is fucking phenomenal, too.
th04 lotus land story: blah blah blah bad apple okay no but seriously it’s maiden’s capriccio. that’s reimu’s theme. i don’t care about this mystic oriental love consultation shit, this spring path crap. maiden’s capriccio. the imperishable night version fucks hard too.
th05 mystic square: this one is really hard. romantic children rules. plastic mind is unreal. the grimoire of alice fucks. but the best one in my opinion is alice in wonderland. extra stage themes tend to be really good, but i looooooove this one.
th06 embodiment of scarlet devil: locked girl ~ the girl’s sealed room. again being a contrarian here and not picking UN owen was her. cuz. i dunno. i like it.. be nice to me.. side note, but i love how the instruments in eosd and dolls in pseudo paradise sound.. idk, out of tune? it’s nice.
th07 perfect cherry blossom: there are a lot of really good ones here but i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t necrofantasia, contrarian though i may usually be.
th08 imperishable night: i don’t knowwww this one’s too hard they’re all so good.. illusionary night ~ ghostly eyes, nostalgic blood of the east ~ old world, flight of the bamboo cutter ~ lunatic princess, and extend ash ~ person of hourai all come to mind, but honestly i think i have to give it to love-colored master spark. i know it’s not “from” this game but it’s my favorite on the soundtrack, sooooo.. whatever. my list.
th09 phantasmagoria of flower view: wind god girl. “that’s from shoot the bullet” i knowwww shut upppp i’m not doing side games.
th10 mountain of faith: faith is for the transient people, full stop. the gensokyo the gods loved is practically the “touhou theme” to me, but sanae’s theme is like. in my top 3 favorite songs in the series. those guitars kick ass. this game’s soundtrack is phenomenal.
th11 subterranean animism: green-eyed jealousy. followed closely by satori maiden ~ 3rd eye. literally every song on this game’s soundtrack is a banger. a real no-skip album. but i am fucking addicted to parsee’s theme. it’s like bitter, ugly crying as music. i can’t sing its praises enough.
th12 undefined fantastic object: this game sucks ass but the music’s good. emotional skyscraper ~ cosmic mind is the best song.
th13 ten desires: it’s shoutoku legend ~ true administrator, but i wanna give a shout-out to night sakura of dead spirits anyway, because it’s great.
th14 double dealing character: kobito of the shining needle ~ little princess. but i mean. i am kissing reverse ideology on the mouth with tongue. i love you seija i love you shimmy you’ll get ‘em next time
th15 legacy of lunatic kingdom: honestly? unforgettable, the nostalgic greenery. i love the spacey sound of this soundtrack, and none of them capture that sound better than that. the lake reflects the cleansed moonlight is good for the same reason. i have a lot of love for the sea that reflects one’s home planet, too.
th16 hidden star in four seasons: not huge on this soundtrack, but my favorite song is swim in a cherry blossom-colored sea.
th17 wily beast and weakest creature: electric heritage. what a tasty piano in this one. the gorgeous melody is also present in entrust this world to idols ~ idolatrize world, but i like the piano in electric heritage better. idolatrize world is an easy second, though.
th18 unconnected marketeers: this soundtrack is so romantic. very lovely melodies. my favorite is the perpetual snow of komakusa blossoms. it’s memorable to me for whatever reason.
th19 unfinished dream of all living ghost: i’m gonna choose to limit myself to the songs that aren’t covers of existing touhou songs, cuz some of them are pretty similar even if i might like them “more”, like corpse voyage ~ be of good cheer. so i’ll go with the deviants’ unobstructed light ~ kingdom of nothingness. the vocal samples are cool.
i’ll list my favorite songs from the doujin albums in a separate reblog, because damn this is getting long!!

Hello! Hope all is well, I wanted to ask what do you think is best to do about Da:tv? Considering the layoffs and like, Initially i wanted to wait a couple of weeks after release, specially after the catastrophe of everything about The Sims 4, Da:tv feels like its going down the same path? Like both games owned by EA that where too many years in development hell, first being made as multiplayer then burned to the ground and made again, much of the previous lore ignored, Da:tv will probably be also patched to hell and back like ts4.
Unfortunatly with all this said i think I will buy the game anyway, not pre-order! But still buying it, because truth be told, even if its garbage i will enjoy it, as much as i enjoyed the Sims 4, but i still wanted to hear your thoughts!
Like, maybe romance Lucanis as my first playthrough? Im sure EA/bioware have player stats and if the most romanced companion is by someone you laid off... I don't really know where Im going with this, Im not too knowledgeable, but i would like that Mary Kirby to be properly compensated :(
Dear listener I'm on a midnight train going nowhere (though i did sign the lease to move into a house in my favorite beach town this morning so maybe the train is flipping a sick Uie) a general rule of thumb I've seen is to wait a few days after a AAA launch for the first patch to come out or to see if it's playable in the first place...But Veilguard did have that giant player event earlier this month and all the bugs I could see were folds in fabric and hair clipping (though those folks were playing on optimized pc's) and BW has mentioned a few times that they're trying to not repeat Andromeda
Regardless if you preorder the game or not, Steam takes 30% of your payment. Speaking as someone who works in production, I know that devs/crew get paid either weekly or monthly for the work they've already done and will do until their contacts end from funds that have already been allocated to their payrolls. The vast majority of BioWare's crew, the people who actively coded and worked on Veilguard, will see none of the money from any sales, preorder or otherwise. AAA sales line EA ceo pockets, not that of the people we care about. Which sucks but that's the way it is. (if a BW crew member sees this please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken)
Tumblr media
This is a bit from a Eurogamer article if you want to read more into the logistic of where your money goes
I'm not preordering Veilguard out of personal preference, and while I know my money is still going to the people who laid of Marry and a bunch of other folks with no warning, I feel better withholding my contribution until Halloween
But yeah, I think it'd be a bitter-sweetness if Lucanis becomes the fan favorite romance just like how Varric is the favorite BW is squeezing the blood out of until there's nothing left. They can't repeat that same shade of success a third time. I want her legacy to be a ghost that haunts whoever made the call and when the round of obligatory congratulations goes around, there's a deafening silence when if they purposely leave out her name. Regardless, Marry's already been paid for all the work she did on Veilguard and now it's the recognition I'm worried about.
I don't know if the folks who got laid off's correct severance pay got resolved though, last I checked 14 were suing the company about this time last year

Mai is the successor to Shiranui-style ninjutsu. Following an important tip-off from dutiful monk Sokaku Mochizuki, this modern-day kunoichi proceeds to South Town with purpose—her intense flame and ever-refined techniques lighting up the darkness therein.

Headcanons - Glitchtrap ✷
What a silly rabbit! Have some thoughts on William Afton's latest and certainly not greatest form of supposedly "living forever".
☆☆☆
❋ Glitchtrap is first and foremost, a ghost. He may be taking the form of an annoying little computer virus, but this is still William Afton in the non-flesh. He has the ability to jump between electrical currents with relative ease, giving him access to all sorts of screens and wires. His favourite digital spots to hang out are various security cameras in the Pizzaplex, and most of all, Vanessa's home PC.
❋ As a ghost, Glitchtrap's anatomy is very unique. He could technically take the form of whatever he wants to look like, but of course he chose what appears to be a very personalized version of Springbonnie. He has fabric for skin with a hand-stitched kitschy appearance, complete with plasticky eyes, nose, teeth, and whiskers. The polyester faux fur fabric conceals cotton-white plush innards. Glitchtrap still has organs of course too, but they're suspended in cotton and poly-fil rather than the good old blood and tissue.
❋ By the time that Glitchtrap exists, he is a shell of a man. A pathetic excuse of a representation of William Afton. In fact, he barely truly remembers who he used to be. Strongly affected by a form of post-traumatic amnesia, he only remembers selective details about his life. He remembers the most about his kids, his goals and aspirations, his talents, and particularly his past business partner, Henry. His warped memory only kept things that were deemed "important", naturally. He fantasizes about Henry frequently still, daydreaming about a romanticized version of his past with him, even remembering some events that didn't actually happen. Subconsciously, part of him believes they'll be reunited again somehow someway. Ignorance of reality is to blame for that belief.
❋ This form of existence has, for lack of any better words, royally fucked up his sense of personality as well. Most of the time he acts like a bastardized version of his past stage personality of Springbonnie. This manifests as him being overly childish, stubborn, careless, apathetic, selfish, manic, and reactive. Glitchtrap prefers not to think about such things, and acts without thinking most of the time. He is very much aware of who he is, William Afton, but in the way that he might do a double-take if addressed by that name for the first time in a while. He is still just as murderous, dramatic, and cunning as he once was as well, encouraging Vanessa to carry out his vague "legacy" for him since he is largely unable to do so as a ghostly computer virus. He does have the ability to possess her as well, but is simply too lazy and prefers to watch her willfully do his bidding.
❋ Glitchtrap struggles with his sense of identity. This has carried over from his time spent as Springtrap, and his dissociation of self has only gotten worse. The contrast between Glitchtrap and William is vast and unnerving. He believes himself to be better than he's ever been, and worse at the same time. If he were to look in the mirror and see his past human face, he would not fully recognize it as himself any longer.
❋ In one way, Glitchtrap could look in a mirror and see himself. His real self. Due to some innate retained sense of humanity, his virus form's head can be ripped off and removed to reveal a shadowy and glitchy form. Underneath the rabbit's face, lies the broken visage of a human. Behind glossy purple eyes, there will forever be silver-blue ones. No facial features can be visibly discerned besides those haunting, iconic eyes now surrounded in black or white shadow. Perhaps it is better for this silhouetted version of the self to be hidden, since seeing its existence greatly distresses Glitchtrap. He pretends it doesn't exist, but why would it exist if he didn't secretly wish for it to still be there? He controls his own ghost's appearance, after all. Part of him craves humanity.
❋ And through all of this dissociation and amnesia, there are infrequent short periods of lucidity. A precious few hours when this miserable ghost is more William than Glitchtrap. It's horrifying. Distressing. Agonizing. He doesn't know where he is. He screams for help, no one answers. Vanessa is no help to him, he refuses to speak to her when he's like this. She keeps her distance. William despises who he's become, filled with self pity. He cries and thinks to himself that it isn't fair that he should have to live like this. Oh, but isn't it fair? Isn't it justified? Shouldn't a murderer such as himself have to live in the very same life that he condemned others to? A ghost in a machine. Trapped. It's rather fitting, I think. Glitchtrap is indifferent, he quite likes his life in a poor woman's desktop computer. William disagrees.

The Thing: Remastered announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC - Gematsu
youtube
Nightdive Studios has announced The Thing: Remastered, a remastered version of the 2002-released horror third-person shooter. It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2024.
Here is an overview of the game, via Nightdive Studios:
“Many of us at Nightdive Studios are ardent fans of the horror genre, so it’s been an incredible honor to work within the world of the iconic The Thing,” said Nightdive Studios’ director of business development Larry Kuperman in a press release. “The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful pieces of art in the horror genre. With The Thing: Remastered, we’re honoring that legacy and Computer Artworks’ incredible game inspired by the story that further expanded the lore.”
About
The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the cult-classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter game inspired by Universal Pictures and filmmaker John Carpenter’s genre-defining 1982 film, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has upgraded this horrifying classic for the modern era through its proprietary KEX Engine for play on current-generation gaming devices up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS. Improvements to character models, textures, and animations have been hand-crafted by Nightdive Studios, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects—for a suspenseful and disgustingly detailed remaster that reanimates the thrilling game for modern audiences. In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them… or himself.
Key Features
Return to U.S. Outpost #31 – Continue the story of The Thing and face off against terrifying monsters, from scuttling head-spiders and human-like walkers to gigantic multi-tentacled level bosses.
Who Goes There? – Command a squad of up to four NPCs from Soldier, Medic, and Engineer character classes through the game’s 11 frightening levels.
The Warmest Place to Hide – Someone in your squad may not be who they appear to be. The shape-shifting alien hides inside an imitation, so keep a watchful eye.
Don’t Lose It – Gain the trust of your squad members and minimize their fear levels lest they become defiant or, worse, succumb to paranoia.
Ultimate Alien Terror – Upgraded models, textures, and animations hand-crafted by Nightdive, plus enhanced lighting and atmospheric effects.
Stunning Visuals – Up to 4K 120 frames per second visuals on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Checkmate – Trophies and Achievements on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Sometimes you've just got to stop what you're doing and stare at the wall for a minute because you've realised another piece of genius in Legacy of Kain. Even the damn blood drinking mechanics serve the themes of fatalism, predestination and the futility of choice even with free will (BO2 fully dropped the ball on this, but without it I probably wouldn't have noticed the pattern in the other games so I can't be too mad).
With the exception of a few important characters, every NPC's blood/soul doesn't give you any special powers, doesn't progress the narrative, all it does is feeds you. I'd guess well over half the hostile NPCs in BO1, SR1 & SR2 can be pretty easily avoided. You don't have to fight them, and every time you do you're choosing to kill them. It's not a big choice from the player or PC's perspective, nor from the game's. It's just someone who will live or die by your whim.
Possibly the best example of this for me is the humans in SR1. Raziel can become worshipped by them as their saviour from the vampire scourge or he could slaughter all of them. The entire fate of humanity is in his hands. And then he travels back in time and in doing so rewrites history. No matter what choice you made, the pre-written events of the game make it not only irrelevant, but prevent those people from ever existing.
Practically any given denizen of Nosgoth is spared or damned at your whim, but fate ultimately dooms them all.

Generational Play: Great RPG Mechanics #RPGMechanics Week One
I love the idea of a generational game: a game which takes place over many years. For a long time it was a ‘White Whale’ game for me. I hadn’t seen systems which leaned into that kind of play.
We did have some, in particular The Great Pendragon Campaign, which with the right group provides an amazing story over decades. There have been others: The Darkening of Mirkwood, there are hints of it iirc in Blood & Honor, and even Microscope to some extent.
But Legacy: Life Among the Ruins offered us mechanics which were both adaptable and captured the sense of time passing. They also used it, with some changes, as the basis of Free from the Yoke. These games split play between Family level and Character level. You move back and forth between them. Character play “Zooms In,” but on the Family Level the things you do take time.
Things and events build up, with community projects– and the success or failure of those– offering a clock for play. When a project reaches its end point, the age turns and we go through a procedure to resolve what has happened. Customs may change, the society may shift, and importantly player characters may age and even age-out of play. The players collaboratively decide how much time has passed.
In Legacy this can be a short period, decades, or even generations. Free from the Yoke tightens that range a little bit, with two clocks happening: the yearly gathering of the PC families to attend to the ruler and the completion of a set project which may push things forward even further.
Incidentally I didn’t understand the scale of all this when I first ran Legacy. I still approached an actions as doing a small, discrete thing. I assumed doing something important required steps and multiple actions, rather than getting resolved on an interesting, sweeping scale.
I love the continuity implied with this approach. You have the family line drawn all the way through history. But you also have the characters who make up that family. A character might only be there for one age, or they might remain for multiple eras. That makes for a really interesting interaction between the PCs, where an older character has to deal with the offspring of one of their companions. I enjoy play with those kinds of stories and I love that we’ve seen more generational play these days (like Fight to Survive: Role-playing Martial Arts Meets Heart)

Pls pls pls tell me about Dee I am so intrigued
Dee <3 <3<3<3
She's a real sweetheart, she's the barons childe in new orleans and her (anarch) job is essentially to keep good ties with the other anarchs + pass messages along + etc. Not really a sweeper*, but she has a mental index going on wrt who the anarchs are + where they hang out. Which is an incredible feat considering several nights out of the week shes at her REAL job... where she's busy working at her aunts funeral home!! :3c I quite like the funeral home, i need to think about it more but shes a third generation mortician, eventually she'll inherit the home herself. (This is how she eats!! That blood would all be going to waste otherwise! [picture] <(this is her)) She takes a lot of pride in her work + her family's legacy
*They recently got a real sweeper so she's been leading him around town taking a census. They are becoming good friends and its very cute. Some old ex-sabbat-would-join-again bitch herpetologist from london (216, looks 50) and the person trying to get you to volunteer at the homeless shelter (33, looks 22) just hanging out in the bayou. imagine this with me.
Also, worth noting, she and her sire are in a double blood bond. Dee has the bond junkie flaw so naturally she never really wanted to get off the initial bond. And Josephine (her sire) felt really uncomfortable with the arrangement so. Make it mutual? Sure. What can possibly go wrong. (It is now very easy for the camarilla to make the baron Very Upset and Act Irrationally)
ALSO...!! How could I possibly forget. In literally every single second she has to herself she's swimming in the bayou as either a cottonmouth snake or alligator. SOMETIMES just herself but i can't imagine natural hair likes swamp water that much. I have seen some tricks though so it does happen. But tbh if i could turn into a little creature i'd spend all my free time that way too
She has mostly functioned as the welcoming committee for anarch pcs because shes otherwise busy most of the time. Which makes her a very pleasant character to play and it's always a delight to get a new anarch
I colored this in once but decided i didnt want to look at it anymore. Secret unreleased color ver

I know this is magical girl blog, but i wanna ask, what's your opinion on pizza tower game?
You're only asking me this because of the The Noise Update that came out just recently, aren't you? Come on, be honest.
Anyways, I absolutely adore the aesthetics of that game. It's just so absolutely bonkers and it oozes lots and lots of passion. Those five years of hard work were worth it. I haven't played it yet, but once I get myself a potent and faster PC, I'll try it! So, I'll just talk about the aesthetics!
I like how Peppino is a Wario-expy, but not in personality. Sure, he is fat and ugly like that greedy garlic-munching goon, but his personality and life are totally different: He's a stressed middle-aged man, who struggles financially and constantly oscillates in anger or anxiety. Totally the opposite of Wario, who's absolutely confident in his brute strength and will take stuff without any awareness or care of the consequences that'll soon follow.
Also, did you know that "Peppino" is a legit real life name? It's a nickname of "Giuseppe" (an italian version of the name "Joseph"). And the person behind Funiculi, Funiculá (the funny pizza meme music) was named Peppino. Giuseppe "Peppino" Turco.
While the gameplay is obviously inspired by Wario Land 4, its visuals take cues from those Gross Out medias from the 90's/00's (Earthworm Jim, Cow & Chicken, Ren & Stimpy, etc.), which it really helps in the shaping of the game's identity. Not to mention how the game was projected to give major priority to speed mechanics, hence why the reason why it was firstly showcased at Sonic Amateur Games Expo.
Another interesting thing about it, is that this game almost became a Horror game! It almost became a FNaF copycat! But for some reason, Tour de Pizza felt the need to change the concept into a Wario-like midway, BUT! The Horror elements still remained with Don't Make a Sound and Fake Peppino (the game is one year old already; everyone already knows of Fake Peppino by now).
One interesting thing about FP, is back when the game has made its official debut, people made vows of not spoiling his Boss Fight, as TdP would keep him under the shadows in the development vlogging/lives. An addendum: This happened at the same time Hogwarts Legacy came out, and people were spoiling its ending on purpose! Meanwhile the froggy abomination (affectionate) was carefully kept a secret until the time was right.
...even though FP was already spoiled in WAR, but that's just me...
And the MUSIC. Oh my God, the music. It's so divine. Some of them feel severely out of place with the goofy aesthetics of the game, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The use of leitmotifs is clever and adds a lot of charm to the player character. They didn't have to go hard on the Ha Ha Funny Pizza Man Game, but they did it.
Also, the Final Boss has given me the adrenaline rush and catharsis that no modern-era Shounen has managed to do for me. No items, no power-ups, just pure, raw, and italian strength and blood-boiling rage (and the occasional tag-teaming of good ol' Gustavo).
As for The Noise Update, it's still pretty fresh, so I won't spoil anything major about it. However, I'll say that he is different than Peppino in every single way, not just in gameplay. While Peppino functions on Fight-or-Flight mode and is only concerned about getting things done and over with, The Noise does stuff for the shits 'n giggles, and WILL shamelessly gaslight you into getting the highest rank. And also with violence. Lots 'n lots of violence.
Also, The Noise's full name is "Theodore Noise" (yes the "The" in the name is not a definite article, it's short for his birth name). But I guess everyone already knows that, too. Just felt like remembering it, just in case.

OC INFO PACKET: VALAS D*VIR (Galdur Bait 3 PC / Companion)
Tumblr media
NAME: Valas D*vir (assumed alias) AGE: 110+ HAIR: Snow white Eyes: Violet blue Height: 5'11" Occupation: Researcher ; Lifelong adventurer ; Menace to the Population Family: G*rion's Ward (father, deceased) ; V*conia D*vir (mother, status unknown) ; Bh**l (grandfather) ; Bh**lspawn (paternal relatives)
It was never going to be easy for him. Oh, his parents had their delusions, putting down their arms and taking up more common ambitions towards power and wealth after years shaping the Sword Coast, dreaming of building a dynasty in the famed city of B*ldurs Gate. And what good is a dynasty without endurance? Valas was born into both love and expectation, son of two of the most powerful figures in the known world. It was a boyhood of privilege, jewel-stitched velvet clothes and the finest tutors his mother could cow, his pride and potential honed to perfection. His father had turned to politics and his mother kept her whisper wars and ambitions burning from their fine manse. But all childhoods end, and as is the case with many Bh**lspawn, Valas' was severed by blood.
He doesn't remember what happened, really. He had been so young, still fat and jovial and exuberant, when his mother vanished. Some said she had been killed by rivals, and others by old enemies, and Valas' father would speak of his great love no longer. There were no more velvet clothes, no more tutors, no more mansion in the finest district. His hero father left it all behind, refusing to call the old manor a home in absence of his beloved wife. Father and son returned to the road that the hero had known so well, and what they sought, Valas can recall no longer. Only that his feet were blistered and his sleep fitful, and his father the only steadfast thing in those days. He nurtured Valas' innate magic and his endless questions with his characteristic patience, and saw his son grow to manhood with a quiet pride. The real tragedy is that the hero was only a Human man, and divine blood only bought him so much time. He passed quietly, and while his name is still sung in taverns and immortalized in tales, the only legacy that mattered to him by the end was Valas.
Valas has wandered alone ever since, with no fancies towards his father's heroics or his mother's grasping ambitions. However, their mark is stark upon him. He possesses his father's probing mind and intrigue, a man determined to understand the world that so changed and then stole his mother. He has fastidiously traveled every corner of the world available for him, and boldly stolen into what locations would bar him entrance. His notes are meticulous, his knowledge sharpened to a blade's cruelty. It has been enough, for a Half-Drow denied most comforts and companionship that many take for granted. A hero's son he might be, but his mother is always a Drow, and he will never deny her by look or by word.
Loneliness has its end, too. He had put his father's kin out of mind, until they crawled out of whatever Hell was put aside for Bh**l and his spawn. The woman in red had been many things to him, a fellow traveler, a rare friend, a child in need, but by the end, she was always herself. Their blood called to one another, and it needed to be spilt. But Valas has always been the escape artist. He had only just put some miles between he and that blasted woman when the ship caught him, dragging him out of one inferno and into a far less metaphorical one.
Joins the party out of self-preservation. Their odds are improved together, and if he must rectify the larval situation himself, he would sooner use his medical implements on a third party than default to self surgery. He is equal parts a mentor and a source of fury, not a team player but a great asset to have. A glory hound, a master mage, and a smirking pretty boy all in one, he's as divisive as he is divine. however, when the cards are down, proper effort might see his carefully crafted walls crumble when his companions have need of him as a man more than a myth.
A scholar, but never a gentleman. He can infodump with the party nerds one day and then have them ready to kill him the next. He's not here to be understood or please others, and while he has moments of sincerity, he smothers them almost immediately. He's spent so long running and surviving that it's hard for anyone to take root in his heart. Still, he feels a keen pull towards the cleric and her situation, and can match wits with the rogue and relish leaving him high and dry. More than anything, he pities the more heroic members of the party: he knows firsthand how their tales end, no matter their choices or strengths.
A prodigious Storm Sorcerer, built around high mobility and explosive damage. He's been on his own too long to really account for team tactics at first, aiming to act for himself alone as swiftly as possible. He can, however, be sufficiently persuaded to help more than he hinders, and to spread the thrill of battle around. Just keep in mind he will never stop preening and posturing about his prowess. He's chock full of Lightning and Thunder spells just waiting to be unleashed and enhanced.
His character is nebulous and his moral compass is a roulette wheel. He's haughty, but experienced enough that it doesn't come across as arrogance. He's rightfully proud of what he's achieved, but allows little more of him to rise to the service than his bit as a seasoned traveler and handsome devil. He refuses to yield to another's will, but a part of him longs to be part as a whole. He gets a read on others with relative ease just based on his age, there is nothing new under the sun, but Gods, he's waiting for someone to surprise him and prove him wrong. It's hard to get on his bad side/net disapproval, but it's also best to consult a walkthrough if trying to curry favor. Loves pragmatic self-service as it affirms his beliefs, but will feel funny and eventually approve of unpretentious heroism.
His arc is do or die. Either the apathy takes him and he ends the journey very much like he began it, he reawakens to being an active player seeking to save the world his parents gave so much for and he has so much to learn from, or he becomes ruled by his baser impulses and seeks conquest and power like the worst of his blood. It all depends on how the PC approaches him, and in fact, investing in him at all is the first step towards his agreeing to saving or damning the world.
He wants to understand the tadpole. Will do whatever it takes the understand the tadpole. Will volunteer to examine the PC's tadpole... which involves breaking out his medical implements. What sounded like innuendo of a 'private physical' is instead dead serious, he wants to basically trepanate the player. If they refuse him he'll later be found trying the same schtick on Astarion who also intuits this as a seduction rather than scientific curiosity. We love a creepy king.

Romance. Craven. Grabby hands
well yes~
from the companion ask meme <3 for craven, dark urge tiefling necromancer
1.Is your Tav a romanceable character?  Are there any specific requirements to romancing them?
ostensibly he is, though the better question is Would you romance him. considering his dark urge-ish nature i'd imagine there's some specific questline to recruit him, but once he's around he's honestly pretty easy
2. Does your Tav need to be flirted with to start the romance, or will they approach the PC themselves if approval is high enough?
though he won't approach the PC on his own, his feelings will be almost painfully obvious, and you might not think he even notices his own brazenness. there comes a point where the pc can ask him directly about what he thinks of them, and he all but trips over himself to take it back - the pc will kind of have to push him to admit it, at least early on, and then reapproach the conversation later.
3. Are they a polyamorous or a monogamous option?
he will be open to his partner exploring other relationships, but he himself will not involve himself in them. he understands the idea of it and wants his partner to find happiness wherever they may, but admittedly has something of a one track mind himself.
4. Do they have a special romance scene at the tiefling/goblin party?
either way, it's the first time he lets slip his feelings for the pc, and he offers them a gift - a handcrafted pendant inlaid with emerald and a fine silver chain, the first item he'd enchanted as an apprentice. the enchantment has long since worn off, but he's kept it all this time, and feels a need to pass it on, as proof of his existence, his mark on the world outside of blood and death.
at the goblin party, he laments that his actions this day have brought him no pride; in fact, this is exactly the sort of thing he feared he might be built for. still, in the face of such carnage, he's glad you're here with him, and he has something to give you, as a reminder, if you want it.
at the tiefling party, he remarks that this is the happiest he's felt in quite some time - he's done good for these people, and he has you to thank for leading him down this path. he'd like you to have this, as thanks.
5. Does the romance have different branching paths, or just one route to take?
as the dark urge, he can be encouraged to embrace his power, or to reject it. he fears the urge and its effect on his personhood, so pushing him to embrace it changes him greatly. he becomes hardened, desensitized, and quite cruel, but also unerringly devoted to the pc. helping him to push through the urge and create his own identity outside of it makes him more confident and willing to share his feelings, and he often expresses his gratitude to the pc for remaining loyal to him despite everything.
6. How do they react to the player character breaking up with them, or choosing another character over them?
if the pc says they were just looking for some fun, or never had feelings for him - "I see. You can be - affectingly cruel. Not to worry. I understand."
if the pc says they've found someone else - "Ah. That's understandable. Thank you for telling me. I hope they make you happy - no, I know they will. Apologies, I should leave you to - well. We'll speak later, yes?"
7. What questions can Zethino ask the PC about Tav in the Love Test?
what is craven's favorite color? [a: brown, like grave-earth] what is craven most thankful for? [a: his life] what is craven's greatest failure? [a: his master's legacy]
by this point in the romance, though none of it is what he wants to hear, ultimately craven approves of brutal honesty in this situation. he thanks the pc for it, and for knocking some sense into him on your travels.
8. If they’re poly, do they have a reaction to the PC engaging in a relationship with Halsin?
"...really? that is to say, he will make you happy, of that i'm certain. i suppose i understand. he's a bit much for me. have your fun, my dear."
9. How do they react if the PC has sex with Mizora? The Emperor?  Haarlep?
overall, he only cares that the pc enjoyed themself. he's entirely ambivalent to the emperor, believing him to be harmless, but with mizora and haarlep he only expresses concern over the pc's risk evaluation, though he's hardly one to criticize them over it.
10. Will they join in with the PC and the Drow Twins, or no?
oh, he's far too insecure for that. he will only tell the pc that he'll wait, though not for too long, and to report any, ah, new findings as soon as they are willing.
11. What are Tav’s plans for the future?  Do they propose to the PC, or is marriage not something they’re interested in?
the pc can propose to him, to which he will be surprised, but aggreable. he will not propose to the pc, though it quietly crosses his mind - something he admits if the pc proposes to him, instead. he only asks that they take the process slowly, to allow him to adjust to the idea.
