Hello! This might sound far out, but even back in 2011 I was wishing if it would be possible to somehow save my blog theme settings, before trying a new theme on for size. Like videogame save slots. I was afraid of trying out new themes, because I’d lose all the settings and custom CSS from the previous theme if I went back to it. Even a single previous save slot would go a long way in motivating exploring new themes, risk free. (I know y’all are crazy busy with more important stuff, just throwing an idea into the pot!)

Thanks for your question, and we are delighted to have good news for you, here.

We actually already have this—we store “versions” of your custom theme whenever it’s changed, so you can roll it back as and when you like.

We do have a little guide over at the Help Center! It’s in a little “tips” blub here at this link in the “Choosing a Theme” section just before “Third-Party Themes.”

Go to blog settings and make sure "Prevent third-party sharing" is enabled. Do this with the side blogs as well.

Unlike what happened with DeviantART, you only need to do this for each blog, not each post. But still, tell Tumblr support to have this enabled by default

Also, apparently, if you reblog a post by someone who's opted out, that reblog will also automatically be opted out

There's also nothing wrong for designing with mobile users in mind, but there is a difference between "Blog that can be navigated with an Android phone" and "Blog that is visually identical to every other blog, which happens to be navigable for mobile users." (Alt text under "Keep Reading")

I just made a new sideblog and found out this setting is disabled by default.

This means that ALL new blogs will NOT have a [username].tumblr.com page. Not only that, but they will not have any themes besides the mobile-default.

As someone who really likes custom themes and Tumblr still having a fully customizable profile page, please turn this on!

You can make a website for your tumblr blog that is entirely your own!

Visiting your mutual’s tumblr pages will become much more fun if they do the same! I used to always associate blogs with the themes they had , but that’s sadly not possible anymore :(

If Tumblr themes die out, it will truly be an end of an era for the internet, and the future will hold only mobile-orientated, endless-scroll design devoid of personality.

Even if you don’t like themes, this is a move that almost destroys Tumblr’s origin as a blogging website and showcases the takeover of social-media-sameness.

you really need to raise your standards for what's considered "a phrase" because if it only makes sense in the specific context of the post it was originally found in and it isn't repeatable in other situations, that's not a phrase that has entered the lexicon, that's just something someone said one time.

What doesn't alter your vocabulary may alter, or may have already altered, someone else's. This is not about adding to The General Lexicon - I have an entire tag for things that change this site as a whole, which has a higher bar; this is largely about novelty and humor. This is us curb-stomping whatever the fuck we want into the right form for our needs, whatever those needs may be, including altering aspects of the phrase to fit the necessary format or context. It's a linguistic shotgun.
