hello, do you have any tips for getting more creative titles? Like going for a more poetic style without it being too much. I like for example, "These Violent Delights" and "Our Violent Ends" by Chloe Gong. They're simple, telling, and short - and I just think it's different (from "The" type titles, and the Blank of Blank and Blank format). I also think "The Folk of the Air" is simple yet creative. I feel like I don't know enough words to get the title. I appreciate any advice! Thank you.
Coming Up with Poetic Titles
Some of the most beautiful, poetic titles often stem from actual prose quotes, either from poetry, classic literature, song titles, public domain lyrics, plays, etc.
These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends, for example, are actually derived from a quote from Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet ("These violent delights have violent ends...") which is appropriate since the These Violent Delights duology is a Romeo & Juliet retelling. Other examples are The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (I knew a woman, lovely in her bones... “I Knew a Woman” by Theodore Roethke), The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars/But in ourselves... Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare), Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger (What immortal hand or eye/Could frame thy fearful symmetry? "The Tyger" by William Blake), Across the Universe by Beth Revis ("Across the Universe" by The Beatles), To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han ("To All the Girls I've Loved Before" by Hal David and Albert Hammond, made famous by Willie Nelson and Julio Iglesias.)
Series titles, like The Folk of the Air series and A Song of Ice and Fire series are usually broad references to what the story is about. I haven't read The Folk of the Air, but I know it's about faeries, so I'm assuming that's a reference to the fae in that story. A Song of Ice and Fire is a reference to a prophecy and history book in the series, but the imagery also references many of the themes and events in the story.
So, whether you're titling a book or series, here are some places you can look for a title:
-- references to relevant source material, such as original fairy tale if you're doing a retelling (Ash by Malinda Lo)
-- references to relevant poems, song titles, lyrics, plays, music, classic literature (Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson)
-- relevant quote, title, person, place, or event that appears in your story (The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Cruel Prince by Holly Black)
-- beautiful imagery that appears in your story (Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes)
-- who or what your story is about (The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, The Martian by Andy Weir, All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater)
My post Coming Up with a Book/Story Title has more tips!

That makes me question what was the point of the Atlesian Knights. I guess Ironwood only wanted mindless robots that wouldn't ask questions to work for him.
you know how in Jurassic Park, Hammond keeps talking about how he 'spared no expense' when it came to the running of the park, and the film reveals some massive, gaping problems with the management because the IT system was run by one guy that they didn't even pay well enough that he was willing to sabotage InGen for their competitors?
it's like that. the image of security and safety and Atlas superiority (prioritising the aesthetics over practicality for. robot soldiers. 'a little less scary' why is that a priority to you James? where are you deploying the robots in places that civilians might be scared of them?) and 'removing the human element from the battlefield' was more important than designing those things to be able to take a hit, or programming them to actually use what they're working with (we see in volume 8 when Watts takes control of one that they're capable of sprinting and have explosives in their chests that can be remote detonated, which would both be really useful if you're sending them into Grimm territory. but no, it's always a constant slow march, and they're down in one hit to a Grimm. or a civilian armed with a trash can. or Qrow ripping them apart with his bare hands - plus they were likely made by whichever military contractor bid the lowest)
the only times we see them used to any degree of effectiveness was a) with older models which were clunkier and more durable, b) in larger numbers and c) within enclosed spaces (Black trailer where they were able to pressure Blake and Adam for a minute within the train car, and in the opening to JLxRWBY part 2 when the girls were trying to connect a portal to Earth when there were more deploying than they were destroying)
it's also just a demonstration of how fucked the priorities were in Atlas that the fragile robot drones were primarily deployed for the military when there were much better jobs they were suited for (like. Dust mining. which is repeatedly shown to be horrendously dangerous and life-threatening. cheaply produced robots that can be piloted remotely would reduce the risk to life and limb, not to mention the established long term health risks inherent to Dust mining)
but no. Ironwood doesn't trust anyone so we get his papier-mâché tin cans consistently wasting military money, which is super funny when it keeps backfiring on him

Sapphire & Steel have been reassigned!
Big Finish’s acclaimed audio dramas based on the ITV Studios sci-fi/fantasy series Sapphire & Steel are now available to buy as downloads for the first time.
Tumblr media
All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic, heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel.  Sapphire and Steel have been assigned.
Sapphire & Steel, created by P. J. Hammond, was originally broadcast between 1979 and 1982. It starred Joanna Lumley and David McCallum as a pair of “interdimensional operatives” tasked with protecting the flow of time. Each story would see them take human form as they showed up in a new location, to investigate a dangerous anomaly.
Between May 2005 and August 2008, Big Finish released 15 full-cast audio dramas based on the TV series. The late David Warner took on McCallum’s part to play the stubborn Steel, whilst Susannah Harker slipped into Lumley’s role as Sapphire.
For three of the audio stories, original TV guest star David Collings returned to recreate his performance as Silver. Other notable guest stars in the range included Mark Gatiss, Colin Baker, Sarah Douglas, Richard Franklin, Angela Bruce, Arthur Bostrom and Louise Jameson.
The audio series was only ever released on CD and has been unavailable for more than a decade.
Now, in association with ITV Studios, all three series have been re-released as downloads, giving fans the chance to relisten or indeed discover the adventures for the first time.
Each series comes packaged with a brand-new 30-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, offering an insight into the production of these beloved adventures.
All three series are available to buy at an exclusive early-bird price for the first month; Series One (comprising five stories) is available for just £19.99, Series Two (comprising six stories) is just £24.99, and Series Three (four stories) is £19.99.
Big Finish chairman Jason Haigh-Ellery said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with ITV Studios to bring back our Sapphire & Steel releases as downloads. We have received regular requests over the years for it to be made available again, so we’re pleased that a whole new generation of listeners will be able to hear the late, great David Warner as Steel and Susannah Harker as Sapphire.”
Nigel Fairs, who produced the series, added: “I’m absolutely delighted that people will be able to hear our version of Sapphire & Steel again, as it really was a labour of love. Re-imagining such a visual television series for audio was no easy task, but I think my decision to concentrate on the emotional story arcs of the characters who encountered ‘Time’ and our two agents bore some really tasty fruit! Dear David and Susie were the perfect leads, and the recording sessions were amongst the happiest I ever had at Big Finish. Creative times indeed. ‘Roll back time, Sapphire…’”
The four-part stories in each series are:
Series One:
The Passenger by Steve Lyons
Daisy Chain by Joseph Lidster
All Fall Down by David Bishop
The Lighthouse by Nigel Fairs
Dead Man Walking by Nigel Fairs (based on a story by John Ainsworth)
Series Two:
The School by Simon Guerrier
The Surest Poison by Richard Dinnick
Water Like a Stone by Nigel Fairs
Cruel Immortality by Nigel Fairs
Perfect Day by Steve Lyons
The Mystery of the Missing Hour by Joseph Lidster
Series Three:
Second Sight by Nigel Fairs
Remember Me by John Dorney
Zero by Steve Lyons
Wall of Darkness by Nigel Fairs
All three series are available exclusively here. Series One is available for just £19.99, Series Two for £24.99, and Series Three for £19.99.
All the above prices include the special pre-order discount and are subject to change after general release.
-- Well bugger me!
I wonder if this means I've got access to the downloads now, since I bought the CDs way back when?
*goes to check* No, huh. Guess I'll go on using the rips of the CDs then!

Watched the mash movie for the first time and here's my thoughts
Honestly, it was pretty good in my opinion, even as a fan of the TV show, I like the differences in the portrayal of the characters. The humor is pretty good, but different from the mash we all know. I don't like how sexist it is, especially in the treatment of Houlihan, and the nicknames for Jones and Mulcahy haven't aged well. There isn't one straightforward plot, but I do think it works for this, and it's a miracle ring lardner managed to cobble the book into a proper movie script. I wish they did keep two subplots they ultimately cut, the plot where General Hammond visits the 4077th and it's pretty similar to S1e4s chief surgeon who? And it was another plot from the book, I wish they kept in the plot about Ho-Jon getting drafted and subsequently injured, 1. Because it explains why the 4077th is trying so hard to win the game (because they're trying to raise money so Ho-Jon can go to college), even if it doesn't work out in the end and 2. Because it could've been potential for character development. I wish they kept the idea of multiple surgeons and other specialized doctors in the TV show, because it would be more realistic to have more surgeons than the four at a time we see in the show (they did initially have more surgeons early on, such as Sam Pak and Jones). Blake is more similar to potter rather than the shows Blake, more self assured and such, but still befuddled. I'm pretty sure McLean Stevenson requested to not have Blake be a military man and instead be drafted like the rest of them. Overall, it was a pretty good movie with its moments that haven't aged well. Honestly, I prefer the show (and the show has aged better tbh) but this was a pretty solid watch. 7.5/10

I don't know if I should ask this question, but knowing that Billy West (voice actor for both Ren and Stimpy) is finishing his autobiography that he's been writing since the pandemic, so here goes.
Billy West has been involved in some controversies since the beginning of the 2020s, which could have caused him to be permanently removed from voicing Ren and Stimpy if Paramount Global (formerly Viacom) had found out.
Some controversies Billy West has been involved in include:
He supports Ivermectin "curing Coronavirus"
Blocked for unrelated reasons, some users who criticized some of his questionable takes (his hatred against Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton and he gave misinformation about Glyphosate to a voice actress who blocked Billy because of it) or did nothing wrong with he (he didn't handle a non-offensive joke from a former fan where he called Billy a tiger)
Followed an account that makes false conspiracy theories full of misinformation called Primo Radical
He is still friends with voice actress Grey DeLisle, who was harshly criticized recently for comparing artificial intelligence to assault and also impersonating her own voice actor son, Tex Hammond, for wishing old people a fatal end in 2019
Not a controversy, but it needs to be mentioned, but Billy West was married to Violet Benny between 1992 and 2009, when they divorced and he never mentioned her again, but instead of remembering his ex-wife Violet, he said that he wants to marry other women instead of her, which is cheating
I was very disappointed to find out what Billy West did, especially despite him being highly acclaimed by fans for voicing Ren and Stimpy to this day, I don't know if he will be permanently removed from voicing Ren and Stimpy by Paramount due to this and if this will harm his image as a voice actor, especially in the Ren and Stimpy franchise and whether it will also harm the Comedy Central reboot of Ren and Stimpy, which unfortunately could officially be permanently canceled as a result of Billy West's actions :(
I'm sorry, friend, I don't get the question. I don't follow Billy West's work (I'm more involved with the Latin Spanish dub of R&S), so I'm not well-informed about anything you mentioned. I can't comment on something I'm not familiar with. Thanks for your understanding. Have a great day!
