(Lmao I realize that I never actually post but for the maybe 5 people that follow me…)
Meet my newest character, Yvaine Abernathy! She’s a Dhampir Bloodhunter that I’m playing for a Curse of Strahd module. She’s 30, a bisexual mess, and might be a secret lycanthrope (yes, even a secret to her). We havent held all that many sessions so far, but I’m really excited to
Surrendered to a church as an infant, Yvaine can recall very few instances in her life where her presence felt genuinely wanted. She was ostracized by her peers, abused by the clergy, and eventually groomed by The High Priest in order to become a weapon he could use for his own selfish means. She had spent so many years under his control, serving as his faithful hunting dog, until she had found that she had had enough, leaving him bleeding out on the steps of his own church. She now finds herself traveling with a group of… rather interesting individuals, but their company is not unwelcome. As a dhampir, she will never not have need to spill blood, but perhaps this time around, she fight selflessly, rather than for more selfish needs, promises that would have never been met.

Trans Putty truther here so I’m gonna blabber on about how I think his life went up until the period we see in Moral Orel.
Born AFAB in the 1930’s, had inclinations towards masculine things from a young age. His parents weren’t exactly *abused,* that is, not like how Orel was corporally punished, or how Joe and Doughy were genuinely neglected physically and emotionally, but his parents were simply not emotionally present for most of his life. Being a kid during WW2, his father would have been drafted, leaving his mother (emotionally distant, short temper, but fulfilled her children’s physical needs at the time) as head of the household. Putty had his hair short, had aversions to dresses, took interests in more masculine things, and his mother was too apathetic to care. His sister got more care on account of being younger and more conventional. When his father came back, their family was pretty badly shaken at how he had changed. Putty flied under the radar for his entire childhood because his parents simply did not care (in the bad way) so long as he wasn’t openly queer or doing something illegal.
As a young adult he began to learn about queer spaces and identify as a butch lesbian in safer spaces. He went to University and didn’t cut contact with his parents, but didn’t humor his family much with interactions from him. His father died when he was 20, and this is the event that I think would really rock his world for two reasons: one, his interactions with his mother and sister would worsen under the stress, indirectly feeding his internal and external misogyny as he begins to identify as a male, and two he would further develop a deeper-seated fear towards war (in my cis headcanons, this is the catalyst towards him pursuing clergy— he is scared of going to war in the future and wants to avoid a draft at all costs). He resolves himself to not be like his father (at this point, not being a “weak” man, in the future this changes into not being emotionally distant to Stephanie like his parents were to him).
He formally begins his medical transition under the radar in the 60’s (he had been publicly identifying as a male before, let’s pretend we live in a world where he could have been consistently passing at this point) and moves to Moralton to begin God’s Favorite Protestant Church.
His mother dies while he is in his 30’s and his presence at her funeral is not taken well by his sister. They are officially cut off at this point. She has always been more successful than him and this has been a point of contention for years, and the combination of his bitterness and this event makes him kind of despise and ruminate over his family.
Until he moved to Moralton, he had not been focusing on romance as much as he could because of anxiety and internalized homophobia/transphobia. He begins to pursue women when he believes himself to be able to pass consistently but by this point he’s so awkward around women that any advance he makes does worse than the last (doesn’t help he developed his “flirting” style from misogynistic movies and men growing up, believing it would make him more manlier/fit in better). He becomes even more bitter towards the idea of women, because of his own hatred of himself, his bad experiences with his female family members, and now his failed attempts at romance. Good time to mention that he is a repressed bisexual: at this point, he believes that loving both/all sexes is impossible, and that liking men would make him less of a man (poor guy). He vehemently refuses anything that he sees is feminine because of his deep seated fear of being exposed or invalidated or feeling like he isn’t acting like he should.
So we get to the events of Moral Orel. Ginormous plot hole of how Stephanie came to be aside, when he meets her he sees so much of himself in her. How she talks about her mom, and what he saw himself of Gladys when she was alive, reminds him of his own mother and this helps him connect with Stephanie. I believe that over time as they connect and become family more Steph would help abate a lot of his internalized homophobia/transphobia/misogyny, even indirectly with just her presence and connection.
And he becomes friends with Agnes Sculptham the end roll credits (I’ve written too much).

he tried to remain impassive as they approached through the crowd of his clergy, but his jaw was notably taut. "and here i thought i wouldn't see you until much later in the afternoon." his tone is polite, but the narrow squint of his eyes is telling: he's disappointed. "what can i do for you?"

1919 – Paul Moore, Jr. (d.2003) was a bishop of the Episcopal Church and served as the 13th Bishop of New York from 1972 to 1989. During his lifetime, he was perhaps the best known Episcopal cleric in the United States, and among the best known of Christian clergy in any denomination.
Moore joined the Marine Corps in 1941. He was a highly decorated Marine Corps captain, a veteran of the Guadalcanal Campaign during World War II earning the Navy Cross, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
Returning home after the War, Moore was ordained in 1949 after graduating from the General Theological Seminary in New York City. Moore was named rector of Grace Church Van Vorst, an inner city parish in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he served from 1949 to 1957. There he began his career as a social activist, protesting inner city housing conditions and racial discrimination. He and his colleagues reinvigorated their inner city parish and were celebrated in the Church for their efforts.
In 1957, he was named Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis, Indiana. Moore introduced the conservative Midwestern capital to social activism through his work in the inner city. Moore served in Indianapolis until he was elected Suffragan Bishop of Washington, D.C., in 1964.
During his time in Washington he became nationally known as an advocate of civil rights and an opponent of the Vietnam War. He knew Martin Luther King, Jr., and marched with him in Selma and elsewhere. In 1970, he was elected as coadjutor and successor to Bishop Horace Donegan in New York City. He was installed as Bishop of the Diocese of New York in 1972 and held that position until 1989.
Moore was widely known for his liberal activism. Throughout his career he spoke out against homelessness and racism. He was an effective advocate of the interests of cities, once calling the corporations abandoning New York "rats leaving a sinking ship". He was the first Episcopal bishop to ordain an openly homosexual woman as a priest in the church. In his book, Take a Bishop Like Me (1979), he defended his position by arguing that many priests were homosexuals but few had the courage to acknowledge it.
His first wife, Jenny McKean Moore died of colon cancer in 1973. Eighteen months later Moore married Brenda Hughes Eagle, a childless widow twenty two years his junior. She died of alcoholism in 1999. It was she who discovered his bisexual infidelity, around 1990, and made it known to his children, who kept the secret, as he had asked them to, until Honor Moore's revelations in 2008.
Honor Moore, the oldest of the Moore children and a bisexual, revealed that her father was himself bisexual with a history of gay affairs in a story she wrote about him in the March 3, 2008 issue of The New Yorker and in the book The Bishop's Daughter: A Memoir. In addition, she described a call she received six months after her father's death from a man, identified in the article by a pseudonym, who was the only person named in Moore's will who was unknown to the family. Honor Moore learned from the man that he had been her father's longtime gay lover and that they had traveled together to Patmos in Greece and elsewhere.

1939 – Réal Lessard was born in Mansonville, Canada. He led a quiet life until he was eighteen years old. He he had always dreamed of traveling and becoming an artist.
Hitchhiking, he set out to conquer the world. In Miami, he met his fate: Fernand Legros. They began an uneven relationship. Legros occasionally accused Lessard of infidelity, although he himself slept with other men. An unscrupulous art dealer, Legros quickly discovered the innate talent of Réal Lessard who painted, without knowing it, in the manner of great Fauves fromturn of the century.
Promising an art show that would never happen, Legros sold Lessard's paintings, without the knowledge of the artist, as authentic Dufy, Matisse, Derain, Van Dongen, Modigliani and many others. He managed to get everyone in his pocket – experts, beneficiaries, and even widows of the painters. The world was awash with raw Réal Lessard.

Reál and Legros on the beach at Cannes
Lessard discovered the scam but dared not speak. It will not take long for the Association of Art Dealers of Americans to intervene and the affair would culminate in a trial. Real was cleared but he had to prove that thousands of paintings, dating from his first from his meeting with Legros, were from his brush.

1941 – Holocaust SS chief Heirich Himmler orders the arrest and deportation to concentration camps of all homosexuals in Germany, with the exception of certain top Nazi officials. He also announced a decree that any member of the Nazi SS or the police who had sex with another man would be put to death.

1952 – ONE, the official publication of the Mattachine Society, Articles of Incorporation signed in the Los Angeles law office of Eric Julber. In January 1953 ONE, Inc. began publishing ONE Magazine, the first U.S. pro-gay publication, and sold it openly on the streets of Los Angeles. In October 1954 the U.S. Post Office Department declared the magazine 'obscene'. ONE sued, and finally won in 1958, as part of the landmark First Amendment case, Roth v United States. The magazine continued until 1967.
ONE also published ONE Institute Quarterly (now the Journal of Homosexuality). It began to run symposia, and contributed greatly to scholarship on the subject of same-sex love (then called homophile studies').
ONE readily admitted women, and Joan Corbin (as Eve Elloree), Irma Wolf (as Ann Carrl Reid), Stella Rush (as Sten Russell), Helen Sandoz (as Helen Sanders), and Betty Perdue (as Geraldine Jackson) were vital to its early success. ONE and Mattachine in turn provided vital help to the Daughters of Bilitis in the launching of their newsletter The Ladder in 1956. The Daughters of Bilitis was the counterpart lesbian organization to the Mattachine Society, and the organizations worked together on some campaigns and ran lecture-series. Bilitis came under attack in the early 1970s for 'siding' with Mattachine and ONE, rather than with the new separatist feminists.
In 1965, ONE separated over irreconcilable differences between ONE's business manager Dorr Legg and ONE Magazine editor Don Slater. After a two-year court battle, Dorr Legg's faction retained the name "ONE, Inc." and Don Slater's faction retained most of the corporate library and archives.

The Umbrella Class assignment: bring in an object that tells your life story. Friends bought a music box, a painting of a cowboy being tamed by a mountain, a jeweled Buddha, but I was poor and had to risk being modest. Then I saw the broken umbrella, turned it inside out and exposed its ribs. There was a pun in it, rain and Rane, but the teacher said, how sad is your life? The other students nodded for their grades, but I opened up the umbrella, holding it by what was left of the handle, and it blossomed before the astonished class. Once again, when dismissed, I made magic and I got an A for seeing among the blind. - Rane Ramón Arroyo

1967 – François Ozon is a French film director and screenwriter whose films are usually characterized by sharp satirical wit and a freewheeling view on human sexuality, particularly gay, bi, and lesbian sexuality. Ozon is himself openly gay.
He has achieved international acclaim for his films 8 femmes (2002) and Swimming Pool (2003). Ozon is considered to be one of the most important French film directors in the new “New Wave” in French cinema.
Ozon often features LGBT people in his films. Some examples include:
Une robe d'été: a young gay man strengthens his relationship with his boyfriend through a brief encounter with a woman.
Scènes de lit: this features a lesbian couple and a gay couple.
La petite mort: a gay man's relationship with his estranged father.
Sitcom: this spoof comedy has numerous lesbian and gay references. The family's son comes out, engages in sexual orgies and begins an affair with the maid's husband, a sports teacher. The maid, herself, finds out she's a lesbian and seems to have a relationship with the mother, who has tried to cure her son's homosexuality by sleeping with him - she, of course, fails.
Les amants criminels: the main male character is gay and in the closet; he kills his (male) object of desire out of jealousy and enjoys his relationship with an ogre-like man who's kidnapped him and his female friend who was, more or less, his beard.
Gouttes d'eau sur pierres brûlantes: the two male characters, Léopold and Franz, are lovers - they are either gay or bisexual, while Véra, a former boyfriend of Léopold's, is now an M2F transsexual/trans woman.
8 femmes: one woman is lesbian and two others are bisexuals; the maid is ambiguous towards her female boss all the while she is her male boss's mistress. This film presents a lesbian kiss between Catherine Deneuve and Fanny Ardant. It's a gay cult movie in France.
5x2: a happy gay couple is used to highlight the unhappiness of the heterosexual couple in the film.
Le temps qui reste: this deals with the end of life of a young gay man dying of cancer.
Le Refuge: this film explores the relationship between a homosexual man and the pregnant girlfriend of his deceased brother.

1974 – Todd Klinck, born in Windsor, Ontario, is a Canadian writer, nightclub owner and pornography producer.
Klinck moved to Toronto at age 18 to study theatre at York University, but dropped out to focus on his career. In 1996, his novel Tacones (High Heels) was the winner of the Three-Day Novel Contest, and was published by Anvil Press to strong reviews in the Toronto Star and Quill and Quire.
Klinck also collaborated with John Palmer and Jaie Laplante on the screenplay for the 2004 film Sugar, which garnered a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 25th Genie Awards, and he was a columnist for fab until 2005. He wrote an online only column for Xtra! called "Sex Play" in 2009, and a column called "Porndoggy" in the same publication for most of 2010. His writing has been published in the National Post, Saturday Night and Bil Bo K (Belgium).
Klinck and his business partner Mandy Goodhandy have launched several sex businesses in the Toronto area, including a transgender strip club, "The Lounge", an adult DVD production company, "Mayhem North", and a porn site, "Amateur Canadian Guys". In 2006 they opened a pansexual nightclub, "Goodhandy's", located in downtown Toronto. Klinck has also worked as a professional BDSM dominant, and has appeared on the television series KinK.
With Goodhandy, Klinck was chosen to be the Grand Marshall of the Pride Toronto 2010 parade.

Ted Nebbeling & Jan Holmberg
2003 – With same-sex marriage recognized by the courts, British Columbia cabinet minister Ted Nebbeling becomes Canada's first serving cabinet minister to legally marry Jan Holmberg, his same-sex partner of 32 years, one of the world's first same-sex weddings of a serving cabinet minister.
The day after his marriage was announced in the media, Nebbeling was dropped from cabinet in a shuffle. The government stated that the timing was coincidental and that there was no prejudicial motive behind this, as Nebbeling was openly gay at the time of his election. Nebbeling and Holmberg are both immigrants to Canada, Nebbeling from the Netherlands and Holmberg from Sweden.

I just sent in an ask but I forgot I had another question! (the nature one)
When I said I was Catholic I meant Roman Catholic, but in my research for affirming churches and denominations I came across other groups/churches (I’m in America) that were technically Catholic but had slightly different names, and were very affirming. I was wondering if you had more information on these types of groups? I know at this point in my life I probably will not stay Roman Catholic but I know staying Catholic to an extent is important to my family.
Ok thanks again!
Whoops, forgot to post this one!
Yes, there are other Catholic groups beyond the Roman Catholic Church :D
There's the Liberal Catholic Church, the American Apostolic Old Catholic Church...I wish I had more information about them — followers?
____
Within Roman Catholicism, there are also many LGBTQ+ affirming groups, including:
DignityUSA works for respect and justice for people of all sexual orientations, genders, and gender identities—especially gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons—in the Catholic Church and the world through education, advocacy, and support. You can see if there’s a local chapter near you on the site! .
New Ways Ministry has been advocating for justice, equality, and reconciliation within the larger church and civil communities since the late 1970s. .
The Progressive Catholic Voice is an “independent and grassroots forum for reflection, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas within the Catholic community of Minnesota and beyond.” It’s not LGBT specific, but here’s a link to all the posts that have been categorized as LGBT. .
The Wild Reed is a blog by Michael J. Bayly, an Australian who resides in the US and who served as the executive coordinator of the Catholic Pastoral Committee on Sexual Minorities (CPCSM) from 2003-2015. This blog has been churning out posts since 2006(!), with the most recent post being about Lil Nas X coming out. Lots of older posts review books, talk about queer Saints, and more.
As well as supportive clergy and religious, including:
Father James Martin, a Catholic priest who advocates for LGBTQA+ folk
Brother Robert Lentz, a monk and iconographer who frequently features queer Saints in his icons

Quick & Easy Tarot Card Meanings (Yes, All 78)
The Modern Phrasal approach is a novel method of learning tarot.
It queers older card meanings by applying them to a wider context of human life.
Each phrase is built for modern concerns, attention spans, and situations.
I developed the Modern Phrasal Approach during my twenty-two years of tarot study.
Temperance Queer Tarot, my tarot service for queers, feminists, and leftists, has been in operation for the past twelve years.
The Modern Phrasal Approach also comes out of my lifelong work as a poet. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University.
SLINGSHOT, my first book of poems, won several awards. It also reminded me of the importance of the phrase to language.
The primacy of the phrase is what poetry understands better than all other forms of writing.
The Modern Phrasal Approach combines tarot, storytelling, and poetry to paint a picture of possible futures.
You may notice that there are no reversed card meanings.
This is because the reader is intended to read reverse as a return to the unlearned lessons of the previous card.
That is the best method of reversal reading for this system. Of course, you may elect not to read reversals at all.
Ok, let’s go!

To Clergy boiz:
"Would you love me if i was a guy?"
The characters here are all some flavor of bisexual or pansexual. While they can have male obsessions, I personally only write for female readers (sometimes neutral/ambiguous reader).
The only exceptions to this rule thus far are:
Bregina - Who is pretty much a confirmed lesbian;
Jayde - Who I've joked with a friend is hilariously unintentionally straight-coded.

!!!!oh sure i love showing them :]]]
Tumblr media
Augustine... auggie... my one and only gold watcher fellow. Effeminate bisexual ass mfer. His weapon of choice is a rapier but hardly uses it. Much prefers standing and taunting humans. Other hobbies include flirting with other gold watchers, sometimes humans too!
Tumblr media
Gabriel and his god Rogue.
Gabriel is a lovely old man who is a priest in his world. Genuinely a nice man who is pretty progressive compared to other priests/the clergy in general. He loves reading and gardening and when he's not leading sermons or in his church he has a lovely little garden by his rectory that he maintains.
Rogue is. Well. It's a God. One of the gods in its world (ive turned @a-rogue-god into the main lore/story blog if you're interested) unlike its siblings who have abandoned humanity, Rogue keeps an eye on them. Rogue comes off as scary but really it's just a jokester shithead. (That isn't to say rogue is never scary. If you try hurting Gabriel, Rogue Will make you experience Some Nightmares) believing in the rogue is kinda like a death sentence in Gabriel's world, but Gabriel gets a pass by and large simply because he's such a beloved nice figure
Tumblr media
Victor is. Um. Something.! They will sum up what they are as a vampire. They're not though. Their species do eat people, and I mean that literally. Victor just has a code where they eat the worst of humanity lol. You're an asshole? Well lol. You're their snack now! They're flirty and love interacting with people
Tumblr media
Romeo is my oldest oc I currently have any semblance of thoughts about. Idk what to do with him though! He's had a lot of story changes and whatnot. He loves writing poetry?? He loves flirting with women?? He's. Um. He's there certainly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MICHAEL!!! MICHAEL MICHAEL M-
Yay michael he's like. My favorite oc of all time I used to talk about him A LOT... all the time. He's an oc of the archangel michael. Um. He's very nice and very lovely. Kind of sad. Tired. Loves being on Earth and pretending to be a human. Um. Very comforting presence to be around. Come to him sad? Oh you bet your ass he's giving you the best hug in your LIFE!!!
Tumblr media
Mariel.... mariel is an interesting uh. Angel. It's kind of insane! Silly thing loves being taller than everyone else in the room! Will ramble on and on about some random object and how cool it is. Mariel is actually a cherub who somehow lost its mind so it tends to not be allowed around other cherubs and sticks to earth or other lower angels. Gaining Mariels trust is suuuper easy which is beneficial if you want to use it to get whatever you want :) it is quite quite naive.
Tumblr media
Mariel's true form holding Michael ^
I have a couple others but I don't like. My brain isn't as huge about them as these ones. But here's a bunch that I enjoy and like sharing info about ^^

How long has Burnout John been aware of Father Cleven? Maybe this is explored in your fic. I’m curious if he’s been watching him for awhile. I assume yes, since he had an inkling he’d be able to get Gale do what he did. But yet Gale also didn’t seem to recognize him.
Does Gale even believe in God and all the elements of priesthood—I’m assuming early on yes but seems to be questioning it now. I know in your first one it sounded like he joined because he as lost and lacking that familial support. What was his life like before the priesthood?
John seems to be bi/pan, how do you perceive Gale’s sexuality?
As someone who was raised in a religious background but now am agnostic/atheist, I’m intrigued by this whole fic set-up and where it goes.
Not for long, he grew up in Sheridan but hasn't lived there for almost the last decade. He recently came back to take care of his ailing grandmother
This close John could take in the details of him. He was as pretty as the first time John had seen him two months ago at six pm mass. Angular face softened by sleep, hair that was no longer tamed by gel and fell around his forehead and in sweet waves. A plain white t-shirt that stretched across his broad shoulders handsomely and clung to his tapered waist. His briefs were black and hemmed to mid-thigh, showing off the curves of him deliciously. -New WIP
Generally what happens with the church is they will assign priests where they are needed across the country/world. For instance my byzantine ortho church has a pastor from Ireland because he knows how to give the sermons in Ukrainian. Yes, it's a weird accent combo.
(Pastor whapped my brother right in the face with the holy water hence my giggle)
Gale does believe yes! Which is different from my KfaK Gale who doesn't go to church at all. But in this one I think Gale does believe but also wrestles strongly with his faith and feels like he's a fraud for not going into the clergy for the right reasons which furthers his issues with belief. I don't wanna get too into his life because spoilers but he was very much raised in an oppressive and unhealthy environment. Both his parents made it very clear to him that they did not want him around and resented him for it. it's a large influence as to why he struggles so much with fear surrounding his desires as well as this deep-seated need to be Seen. He learned from a young age it was dangerous and pointless to want things to be more or better, and was never given healthy attention by his caretakers so he craved it. I think pre-entering the seminary Gale did a couple of years community college and debated getting into astrophysics with a focus on black holes.
Gale is always gay to me! I can't picture him desiring women idk the show made him so sexless with Marge in my eyes I just can't see it haha. John is bisexual with a penchant for men in this au.
I was raised pretty religious to, at least surrounded by it. I was never pressured into it beyond getting my first communion to please my grandparents lol. But my Family are all Catholics of various denominations and my great aunt is a nun so

inspired by @whimperandabang tagging me in a post about fantasy worldbuilding in terms of gender and sexuality, i felt like i should probably explain what the hell goes on in idris about it.
the standard idrisian is considered and assumed to be bisexual, and most would look at you strange for suggesting people can be anything other than attracted to whomever whenever. who you partner with, however, is seen as a distinctive lifestyle choice. opposite-sex relationships and same-sex relationships are not regarded the same way in society, although both are respected relatively equally and are able to marry.
opposite-sex spouses are expected to have children. the belief goes that if you fall in love with someone of the opposite sex, then you are best fit to have children and chosen by halcyon and the gods to continue your lineage. this is why many firstborn children in the aristocracy are arranged in opposite-sex marriages. it is seen as an obligation to have as many children as possible within opposite-sex marriages, which is common among the upper class, but members of the lower class rarely have more than three, the societal “bare minimum”. opposite-sex spouses who have fewer than three children, or at the worst no children, are looked down upon as dismissive of their duties to the divine. the only exception to this is for the royal family and the family of the high priest, whose singular child as mandated by tradition is seen as worth the lives of many children.
same-sex spouses are seen as quality and dedicated workers of society, so concentrated on their own contributions to their nation and their faith that to dilute their lives with child rearing would be a waste. it is seen as a noble act to marry the same sex, and generally also functions as a commitment to higher pursuits. same sex marriages are less common in idris, but still very frequently seen. many academics, clergy, and non-firstborn aristocrats marry partners of the same sex. there is no formal way for same-sex spouses to adopt children, and to do so even informally would be off-putting and slightly taboo. when marrying a partner of the same sex is perceived first and foremost as an assertion of one’s lack of desire for children, the practice of adopting one is confusing and contrarian. as all things, it does sometimes happen, but most do not even conceive of such an idea.
legal divorce is not permitted in idris in any capacity.
sexuality is a topic much more open and discussed in idrisian society than in our own, and experimentation is explicitly encouraged. orgies and other sexual rituals are included as part of halcyonist doctrine, so most are not shy about it. before one makes the lifelong commitment of choosing to marry the same sex or the opposite, it it seen as necessary to try multiple sexual partners.
monosexuality, as well as asexuality, are unheard of. society accepts that some may have preferences for one sex over the other, but a claim of total non-attraction to one or both sexes is ridiculed. idrisian society will not accept non-partnership either, believing it to be a signal of social failure and rejection of halcyonist doctrine.
there is no functional gender binary in idris. people acknowledge biological differences among the sexes, but do not divide labor or power structures differently because of it. intersexuality is not acknowledged. pronouns are based on one’s relationship to a given person and their authority—whether they are your social superior, inferior, or equal. a shift in one’s use of pronouns within a relationship is seen as a great marker.
at some point i’ll make a post about different characters’ relationships to these societal standards. there’s lots to say about that for most of them, and there are various deviations from what is socially expected throughout the whole cast.

came to a breakthrough: I’m not afraid of my ADHD-weird-homeschooler energy freaking people out— I’m afraid of people picking up on my Bisexual Energy and assuming I’m into All Women and only friends with women so I can look at them with my Perverted, Lecherous gaze.
hysterical realizing the reason people othered me and watched me extra closely wasn’t because they thought I was going to steal something, or because i’d lie or cheat. It was because they were afraid other kids would catch my Gay if I got my grubby little hands on them. Which to be fair I DID bring a queer energy to the potluck that the clergy didn’t LOVE.
Dunno what to DO with this info but it FEELS like a breakthrough.

isaac de la cruz (26) || priest | (closeted) bisexual | nicholas alexander chavez corrupt pastor (w/ a bad habit of seducing clergy members) who came into the clergy very young!! took over his father's parish after his pop's untimely death and he's been enjoying the power a lil too much (may or may not be possessed???????)

Musings on celibacy
So.... I've been thinking a lot lately, after coming back from the Roman-Catholic pilgrim trip in France I go to every year, about rooms for queer people in churches, as I often do.
And why I, a bisexual probably-woman who never had a romantic relationship and doesn't plan to have one soon, feels so much more at ease over there than in my original congregation.
And it's simply because I feel a lot less pressure about that fact in Roman-Catholic circles than in New-Apostolic ones, even though these two churches have very similar opinions on my "life choices".
Because as much as I'm hating on obligatory celibacy for clergy (That should simply not be the only way to enter priesthood, how will families ever be heard with their needs if decisions are made by a bunch of dudes who never had any familial responsibilities?), there is one thing I really like about it: It presents an actual and respected alternative to the married life. And that is something I really miss in the ""Protestant"" world.
How often do I have to hear in my circles something like "Oh, when are you going to stand at the altar??? :D :D" and me internally going "Well Janet, I would first need a partner for that and even if I had them, there would be about a 50-80% chance that we would not even be allowed to stand at said altar because we happen to have the same set of genitals. 😃"
And of course, in the Roman-Catholic world, I would be even less allowed to do that (If you can maximize "not-allowing") and yet, I experience a lot less pestering with that question from my Roman-Catholic friends. Because they see me participating in prayer with the priests, monks, nuns and sacred virgins (that's basically a nun who doesn't live in a coven but works for congregations instead, don't ask me why the call them that), they see me having theological discussions with them and for some, it makes sense that because of this, I am not in a romantic relationship. Maybe never will be. Maybe "am not called to marriage."
Of course, some simply leave me alone because I am not in their denomination, therefore work on different rules. And some may just be relieved that they have not to deal with a sapphic couple in their direct contact.
But it is just so relaxing to find other people, even older than you, who do not live a "romantic" life. Whose closest persons are also "just" friends. And who are happy when in my church, I was always told that this is impossible. Meeting persons who are even respected for that.
Am I neglecting the very sex-negative aspects of Catholic belief that led to this institution? Oh by G*d, no. Some of my very real sexual intrusive thoughts come directly from that environment.
But when I think about the big entourage of queer nuns, monks and priests, who could escape the burden of a heteronormative life through celibacy, I find myself the tiniest bit glad that it exists.
Even though there are of course aro-/ace people who experience discrimmination in the Roman-catholic world because not everyone feels drawn to become ordained. And even then, they still have to hide what makes them different and this hurts my heart. This is not how you help Christians to "Let their light shine"
In the end, I would just wish for us to find an actual and respected alternative to the married life in our modern world. To let people live the life they chose for themselves. To see friendship as just as valid and crucial as romantic relationships.
That's all.
Any thoughts?

Round 1 - Side B
Tumblr media
Propaganda below ⬇️
Leliana
Ex thief/assassin after her ex-girlfiend leaves her for dead she tries to go on a revenge quest but fails and becomes a nun to repent her previous sins. During the first game she joins your party because she had a vision of God telling her to do so (nevermind that her faith belives that god has left humanity to die after the death of his human spouse). If she survives the events of the game, meaning you don't try to destroy an extremly valuable religious relic in front of her causing her to turn on you and fight you to the death, she goes on to become the spymaster for the pope. During the third game she becomes your spymaster and you can even make her the new pope, if this happens her policies bring her many enemies but they all misteriously disappear after challenging her publically. If she dosen't survive the first game she still shows up in the third one with the same role but instead of beign a normal person she is a magic ghost of misterious origin that is somehow connected to rocks that are also blood and is pretending to be a normal human beign. She is even bisexual
her introduction is her walking up to you and going 'god told me to leave being a nun and help you.' she's a spy who worked for the pope. she's bisexual. she can have an elven mage partner and then immediately go 'okay guys mages and elves are cool now also the clergy can fuck now' and then she goes and fucks her (well known) elven mage partner. her views on religion are really accepting but also she founds An Inquisition with the intent of threatening someone into the position of 'inquisitor'. (This never happens but she would have done it.)
early leliana dragonage propaganda. the way leliana is introduced is by walking up to the player and telling them she got a vision from god saying to help them defeat evil. she also works for the catholic church and can be the literal pope. she helps start the second inquisition, which is like, really bad morally, but also very catholic of her. if you defile the ashes of her prophet you have to kill her and she comes back as a magic ghost to work for the church
Dracule Mihawk
Okay so he wears a cross necklace and his sword looks like he has a cross on his back. Like yeah hes a gothy bitch but got that Catholic vibes trust me also got that catholic vampire 18th century facial hair
his weapon is a giant bedazzled cross sword and if he held up his arms he’d look like he was being crucified on it. he’s spanish *and* dracula coded. puss in boots has been accepted and this is his human counterpart.
he keeps sipping red wine, what’s that if not the blood of christ?? also his hobby is gardening and he adopted two orphans. catholic mom.
a vote for mihawk is a vote for all of the forgotten one piece characters

born to a hardworking rugweaver named hebe graybleak, iliad is the oldest of four siblings raised by hebe alone. though he had never known his father, iliad had never lacked for anything thanks to everything his mother did for him. practically a saint, she instilled in him a deep respect for sacrifice and the suffering she endured to raise their family. when his mother fell ill and was close to death, iliad prayed over her night and day until the god, ilmater, answered his prayers and saved his mother. since then he has been a loyal worshipper of the crying god. he has devoted himself to worship of ilmater, and has joined his clergy to better serve him, moving to baldur's gate in order to be able to also slowly gather enough finds to move his mother close to his temple there so that he can better provide for her. iliad has three other half-siblings: thekla, his younger sister; ilektra, his youngest sister, and aeson, ilektra's twin brother. iliad is intended to be written as 'tav', and his primary love interest is shadowheart.
Tumblr media
FENLEAF 'FEN' QUICKQUARRY : wood half-elf beast master ranger/thief rogue. 26. bisexual (pref. for women).
a would-be member of the zhentarim, fenleaf was ejected from their ranks after she was blamed for a stolen shipment –– something she actually had nothing to do with. since then, she's sworn to take down every last one of them, with special exception for her partner, abad el-kareem, who sold her out and let her take the blame for his botched attempts to betray the group. for a time, she had made a deal with auntie ethel in which she gave up her voice for a year –– the year has since passed, but the places in which her mouth was sown shut have been inked as a reminder of the deal she'd made with the hag. she often travels with her dire wolf, snaggle. she can be recruited by the missing shipment quest area, while tracking the gnolls.
Tumblr media
ZEPHYR WYND : firbolg swarmkeeper domain. 25. heterosexual.
an outlander, zephyr and his druid sister, breeze, grew up far from baldur's gate. they were happy traveling the wilds alone for many years. but when the cult of the absolute split them up, zephyr decided he would do whatever he needed to in order to get his sister back and make sure she was alright. he can be recruited as a companion within the myconid village in the underdark in act two, believing that wherever moonrise towers is he'll be able to find breeze there.
Tumblr media
KE'NAH MASRANI : fire genasi spirits bard. 22. lesbian.
ke'nah used to travel with her human mother (hudan), a weaver, before the two settled down together with her lover (s'samira, the half-wood elf) in the forests of barovia. one day when she was 10, she was taken by a hag named noma'nomanar, who had lured her away after a big fight with her mother. the hag made a deal with ke'nah that she would let her leave safely if she could find her way back home, but ke'nah could never find the cottage. for five years, ke'nah kept trying to return home, but eventually gave up, realizing she'd never see her mother or her lover again. ke'nah allowed noma to raise her until she was old enough to depart, using ke'nah until she found a new, younger assistant to keep by her side. now, she travels as a side-show act, telling fortunes and contacting the spirits of the departed, hoping to see her mother again once more. ke'nah can be used as a bg3 npc, and has a dark urge verse as well.
Tumblr media
NOVAKARI : kalashtar stars druid. 21. bisexual (no pref).
plagued by the strife of the quori soul within her, nova is on a quest to heal the fracturing minds of her people, and searching for a way to free them of the dreaming dark. she grew up in a kalashtar settlement called uv-suvir, hidden behind a massive waterfall in adar (eberron) –– as part of her quest, she was teleported to faerûn, seeking to collect one of three asters: pieces of stars that she could then bring back to adar to help craft a barrier for her people that would keep the dreaming dark away. her quest takes her first across eberron to find the first aster, then over to faerûn, and inevitably to the world of exandria to seek out the other two asters she needs. nova can be recruited as a bg3 companion.
