Autumn means I put up the bird feeders on the window like I did in Wisconsin so the birds will have food in winter, and we will have a delightful show out the windows. The day after I put them up, the whole of the woods in back had been notified, all by one little chickadee who was the first to find them. The seed we have there is a mix of sunflower, peanuts and assorted tree nuts, and they are loving it. I also put a tray on the table because I know the cardinals don’t like to come to the feeders. So far we have cardinals, finches, chickadees, tufted titmouse, one I have not yet identified, and a soon to be quite fat squirrel. Pendleton the cat is over the moon with his bird TV but disappointed that despite his best efforts, the glass thwarts him from catching them. Nevertheless he will keep trying. Because there is mulch on the ground as well, the robins and juncos have been feasting on the worms. I want to get some suet out there too and some other treats and see who else will come to dinner. To all my soul friends I say get thee a bird feeder and watch the magic. Work in progress.... The Western Rosella is a really striking bird and we are lucky to have them here in the South Western Australia.. This is an oil painting on custom made wood panels. I had to wait for this layer to dry and am now about to continue. It has a really different feel when working on a solid non flexible surface. Enjoying painting these equisite birds! Feeling blessed to have art in my life especially now during covid19 lockdown. Keep your creative spirit alive as it can save your sanity! Boo and Arthur changed their minds and kept trying to kill Coco last night. It was true hell and traumatic for everyone except the evil twins (Misha was put to work as a stress absorbing sponge bird). My guys just do not like girl birds at all. Luckily a new friend that we made a few weeks ago, who has cockatoo experience but no cockatoo currently, was able to take Coco. She will be an only bird in a quiet mellow household.
