How are you so funny and cute and elegant at the same time???? (I need some tips fr 😭)
Start taking notes dude...
Tumblr media
First of all, thank you. I am positive attention starved, this made may whole week.đŸ„Č
Now, how am I funny?
Honestly, my initial goal when I started to make Red Queen memes was to alter the fandom's perspective of Mare Barrow.
I started posting memes at a time that the Fandom has settled, since the series officially ended a couple of years back. Not a lot of people were posting BUT when they do it's mostly paragraphs of why they HATE Mare Barrow and how she was the WORST FMC they ever read.
And me, being easily hurt and highly protective of my FAVORITE character (it's Mare Molly Barrow, but the way). I wanted to do something about it.
I was not confident at my writing and I didn't want to confront someone with my main argument coming from my emotions.
So I tried posting memes about Mare and other Red Queen characters. I post about two memes every other day.
My plan was to BOMBARD the Mare Barrow tag with memes to BURY the Mare Barrow hate posts.
Which worked for a time and I started to feel more confident with my meme posting because of people like you that find my post funny and not annoying or terrible.
Also, being funny...I guess I watched a lot of tv series back then and I have very funny friends that I talked to during my collage years. I also talk to myself a lot.....it helps to reflect ya know.
How am I Cute?
Well, I have very attractive parents. So, I kinda won the gene pool (minus the oily skin and the risk of diabetes on my mother's side).
How am I Elegant?
If this compliment is directed again at my appearanceđŸ„°:
As the eldest sister of three younger sisters who are heavily influenced by Tiktok fashion and Korean cosmetics. I pick up some fashion style here and there, and they would usually nag me to try other cosmetics that "compliment" me more. 💅 I also stock up skincare for them just in case they ran out. (Especially those pimple patches, cause they have been uses them quiet often lately due to our humid weather.)
If this compliment is directed at my online interactions/online etiquette😚:
Whenever I plan on posting something that might ruffle some feathers. I would as my friend @nymphenberger if I am writing it correctly and choosing words that are not damaging to the character or actual person that I was making a post about You can disagree with their post but don't attack them as an individual. (It won't hurt to ask for help. Nym kept me from doing anything rash that I might regret and saved my butt a couple of times.)
But even with precaution, you might make a mistake. You must address them as soon as possible and acknowledge your mistakes (don't beat around the bush).
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that I screw up sometimes. So please "Do what I say not what I do." Because there are days that I let my emotions get the best of me and I just become a mess.
Thank you dude for this ask, and I'm glad you find humor in my memes. ❀

Top Skin Care Mistakes Men Make | Best Skin Care Product
Many men think skincare is just for women, but that’s a big misconception! Men's skincare routines often fall short compared to their female counterparts. Men produce more androgens, a hormone that increases oil production, making their pores more prone to getting clogged and dirty. Keeping up with a daily skincare routine using the best skin care products for men is essential for preventing acne and premature aging. But with so many products out there, how do you make sure they do not affect your skin negatively? Don’t worry, we’re here to help you figure it out!
Tumblr media
Mistakes to Avoid While Using Skin Care Products
Using skincare products incorrectly can lead to irritation, breakouts, or even long-term damage. Learn the common mistakes and how to avoid them for healthier, glowing skin.
Skipping Sunscreen
Many men skip sunscreen, thinking they don’t need it unless they’re at the beach. Sun exposure without protection leads to premature ageing, sunspots and an increased risk of skin cancer.  Make sunscreen a daily habit. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 and apply it every morning, regardless of the weather or your plans.
Not Moisturizing
Some men assume their skin doesn’t need moisturizer, especially if they have oily skin. Skipping moisturizer can lead to dryness, irritation and even more oil production as your skin tries to compensate. Use a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer daily. For oily skin, opt for an oil-free formula that hydrates without clogging pores.
Over-Washing Your Face
Washing your face multiple times a day, thinking it’ll help reduce oil and prevent breakouts. Overwashing strips your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation and even more oil production. Wash your face twice a day with the best skin care products for men-morning and night—with a gentle cleanser. Avoid harsh soaps that can dry out your skin.
Ignoring the Neck and Ears
Only focusing on the face and neglecting other exposed areas like the neck and ears. These areas are also exposed to the sun and environmental pollutants, leading to signs of ageing and potential skin issues. Extend your skincare routine to include your neck and ears. Apply sunscreen and moisturizer to these areas daily.
Using the Wrong Skin Care Products
Using generic products or those not suited for your skin type. The wrong products can cause irritation, dryness, or increased oiliness, leading to breakouts and other skin issues. Identify your skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive) and choose  for men specifically formulated. If you’re unsure, consult a dermatologist for personalized recommendations.
Shaving Mistakes
Using dull razors, dry shaving, or skipping aftershave. These habits can cause razor burns, ingrown hair and irritation. Always use a sharp razor and shave with a lubricant like shaving cream or gel. Finish with a soothing aftershave to calm your skin and prevent irritation.
Ignoring a Consistent Routine
Inconsistency with your skincare routine, or only taking care of your skin when problems arise. Inconsistent care won’t give you the long-term benefits you’re looking for and it may lead to more skin problems down the line. Establish a simple, daily skincare routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection. Stick to it, even when your skin looks good, to maintain its health and appearance.
Don’t Pick at Blemishes
It can be really tempting to pop that pimple in the mirror, but it’s best not to. Your hands carry germs and when you pop a zit, you’re spreading bacteria from both your fingers and the pimple itself, which can lead to more breakouts. Plus, picking at the same spot over and over can cause scars and discolouration.
Most Important: Pay Attention to Your Diet and Drink
Drinking too much alcohol can dry out your skin, making it look dull. To keep your skin hydrated and fresh, drink plenty of water every day, especially if you’re drinking alcohol. Also, try to limit processed foods and those with refined sugars—they can spike your insulin levels, leading to hormone-related breakouts. Instead, focus on foods rich in antioxidants, which fight skin damage from within.
By avoiding these common skincare mistakes and incorporating a regular skincare routine, men can achieve healthier, more radiant skin. Remember, taking care of your skin is an investment in your overall well-being.

Is Your Skin Care Routine Really Effective? Insights from a Dermatologist
We all strive for glowing, youthful skin, but with the multitude of products and skincare advice available, it's easy to wonder: Is your skincare routine truly effective? With so many options on the market, evaluating the efficiency of your current skincare regimen can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, dermatologists have specific insights that can help guide you toward a more effective routine.
In this blog, we’ll explore signs of an effective skincare routine, common mistakes that may be sabotaging your efforts, and how to improve your regimen for better results. Whether you’re struggling with acne, pigmentation, or general skin health, we’ve got you covered. And if you're seeking expert solutions in Bangalore, treatments like skin lightening treatment in Bangalore, tan removal treatment in Bangalore, and pigmentation treatment in Bangalore can offer targeted help.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Basics of Skincare
Before diving into how to determine if your routine is working, let’s look at the fundamental components of a solid skincare regimen. Whether you have oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin, a typical skincare routine should include:
Cleansing: Removes dirt, oil, and impurities from your skin. This is the foundation of any skincare routine.
Exfoliating: Sloughs off dead skin cells and encourages cell turnover, revealing fresh, radiant skin beneath.
Toning: Balances your skin's pH and preps it for better absorption of serums or moisturizers.
Moisturizing: Helps hydrate the skin and lock in essential moisture.
Sun Protection: Shields your skin from harmful UV rays, which are the primary cause of premature aging and pigmentation.
While these are the essentials, you may also want to add specific treatments like skin whitening treatment in Bangalore or anti-ageing treatment in Bangalore to address more particular concerns.
Signs Your Skincare Routine is Effective
1. Your Skin Feels Balanced
One of the earliest signs of a good skincare routine is balance. If your skin doesn’t feel too oily or too dry, you’re on the right track. A balanced skin texture indicates that your cleanser, moisturizer, and other products are suited to your skin type. If your skin often feels tight after cleansing or too greasy, it could mean your current products aren’t the best match. For those dealing with issues like uneven skin tone, treatments such as skin lightening treatment in Bangalore can also help restore balance.
2. You Notice a Healthy Glow
Does your skin have a natural, healthy glow? An effective skincare routine encourages radiance by providing proper hydration and protection from environmental damage. Regular exfoliation, along with the use of antioxidant-rich products, helps maintain this glow. If sun exposure has left your skin dull, tan removal treatment in Bangalore may offer a fast solution for restoring a brighter complexion.
3. Improvement in Specific Skin Concerns
Your skincare routine should be designed to target your personal skin concerns. Over time, you should see improvements, such as fewer breakouts, reduced pigmentation, or a more even skin tone. If acne is your primary concern, investing in the best pimple treatment in Bangalore could complement your at-home efforts. For hyperpigmentation and uneven skin, opt for the best pigmentation treatment in Bangalore or melasma treatment in Bangalore to achieve noticeable results.
4. Minimal Irritation or Sensitivity
Irritation or sensitivity are red flags that your products may not be compatible with your skin. If your skin becomes inflamed after applying certain products, it's time to reconsider. Effective skincare enhances your skin’s barrier, rather than compromising it. Look for gentle, hydrating options or professional solutions like skin whitening treatment in Bangalore if you want to lighten skin without irritation.
5. Long-Term Benefits
While quick fixes can be tempting, skincare is about playing the long game. An effective routine should offer consistent, long-term benefits such as improved texture, elasticity, and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. For aging concerns, anti-ageing treatment in Bangalore or wrinkle treatment in Bangalore can support your routine by delivering professional-grade results that last.
Common Skincare Mistakes That Could Sabotage Your Routine
Even if you follow all the steps above, some habits can still undermine your efforts. Here are common skincare mistakes you should avoid:
1. Over-Exfoliating
Exfoliation is crucial for removing dead skin cells, but too much of it can strip your skin of essential oils, leading to irritation and breakouts. Stick to exfoliating two or three times a week, depending on your skin type. For pigmentation concerns, consider complementing your routine with pigmentation treatment in Bangalore to achieve smoother, even-toned skin.
2. Skipping Sunscreen
Sunscreen is an absolute must, even on cloudy days. UV damage is the leading cause of premature aging, and ignoring sun protection can undo all your hard work. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily is essential. If you’re already experiencing sun damage, treatments like tan removal treatment in Bangalore can help reverse the harm.
3. Layering Too Many Products
Less is often more when it comes to skincare. Using too many products simultaneously can overwhelm your skin, clog pores, and cause irritation. Simplify your routine to include only essential products, and introduce new items gradually. If you’re seeking significant results without overloading your skin, opt for the best skin whitening treatment in Bangalore for a more streamlined approach to achieving brighter skin.
4. Not Giving Products Enough Time
Patience is key in skincare. Many people expect immediate results and abandon products too soon. Most products take at least 4-6 weeks to show visible changes. Treatments for more stubborn issues, such as pimple treatment in Bangalore, may also take time, so consistency is crucial.
5. Ignoring Your Skin Type
Using products not suited to your skin type can lead to more problems than they solve. For example, oily skin requires lightweight, non-comedogenic products, while dry skin benefits from richer, more hydrating formulations. Consult a dermatologist for professional recommendations tailored to your skin type, and explore options like skin whitening treatment price in Bangalore to find a treatment that fits your budget.
How to Optimize Your Skincare Routine
If you’re wondering how to fine-tune your regimen, follow these tips to ensure maximum results:
1. Assess Your Skin Type and Concerns
Your skincare routine should be tailored to your skin type. Whether you have oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin, understanding your skin’s needs is the first step toward choosing the right products. For concerns like pigmentation, the best pigmentation treatment in Bangalore can make a significant difference.
2. Simplify Your Routine
Sometimes, simpler is better. A basic routine of cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen will suffice for most skin types. If you want to add targeted treatments like serums, make sure each product serves a specific purpose. For instance, adding a skin-brightening treatment like skin whitening treatment cost in Bangalore can be beneficial without overloading your routine.
3. Pay Attention to Ingredients
Understanding the active ingredients in your products can help you choose better. For example:
Hyaluronic Acid: Great for hydration and plumping.
Retinoids: Effective for anti-aging and acne treatment.
Vitamin C: Helps brighten skin and fights free radicals.
Niacinamide: Reduces redness and improves skin texture.
If pigmentation is your concern, options like melasma treatment in Bangalore can address stubborn dark spots and leave your skin more even-toned.
4. Be Consistent
Consistency is crucial for seeing results. Follow your routine daily and give products time to work. If you're serious about long-term skin improvement, treatments like permanent skin whitening treatment cost in Bangalore can complement your daily efforts.
5. Adapt as Your Skin Changes
Your skin's needs can change due to various factors, such as age, weather, or lifestyle changes. Stay flexible and adapt your routine as necessary. Seasonal dryness, for example, might call for more moisturizing products, while aging skin may benefit from anti-ageing treatment in Bangalore.
FAQs: Is Your Skincare Routine Effective?
How long should I wait to see results from my skincare routine? Most products take 4-6 weeks to show visible improvements. However, treatments for pigmentation or acne might take longer. For faster results, consider consulting a dermatologist about the best pimple treatment in Bangalore or best pigmentation treatment in Bangalore.
Can I use too many products in my routine? Yes, overloading your skin with too many products can cause irritation and breakouts. Stick to the essentials, or consider professional treatments like permanent skin whitening treatment cost in Bangalore for a simplified yet effective solution.
How do I know if a product is not working for me? If you experience irritation, breakouts, or no improvement after several weeks, the product may not be suitable for you. Switching to targeted treatments like pimple treatment in Bangalore can help address specific issues.
Is it necessary to see a dermatologist for skincare advice? While over-the-counter products can be effective, a dermatologist can provide personalized advice and recommend treatments tailored to your unique skin concerns, such as skin whitening treatment in Bangalore.
Conclusion
A truly effective skincare routine is one that is tailored to your skin type, addresses your concerns, and delivers long-term benefits. By choosing the right products, being consistent, and avoiding common mistakes, you can achieve healthy, glowing skin. If you're looking for professional treatments, options like skin lightening treatment in Bangalore and pigmentation treatment in Bangalore can help you reach your skincare goals faster.

Can Hydrocolloid Acne Patches Help With Scarring
Tumblr media
Hydrocolloid acne patches are popularly known for their skincare routines such as fast healing, reducing inflammation, and preventing picking. But people often ask if they can help with acne scarring.
Acne scars occur when the deep layers of your skin are damaged, causing pits, raised bumps, or changes in skin color. Acne patches are a great solution for active pimples, while limited efficacy for existing scars.
How Hydrocolloid Acne Patches Work?
Hydrocolloid patches are tiny and protective bandages. The hydrocolloid seals the wound securely, absorbs and retains these fluids, creates a moist environment suitable for wound healing, and minimizes the severity of a pimple. They help the skin to regenerate without scarring.
How Effective With Scars?
Acne patches cannot magically remove existing scars. However, they can efficiently prevent new acne scars by protecting pimples and promoting faster healing. It has waterproof and UV protection functions, and it minimizes scarring by not forming scabs on the wound. It also relieves pain by protecting it from external impact directly applied to the wound.
Acne patches indirectly contribute to healthier skin and maintain skin integrity. Remember, healthy skin can repair itself and improve the appearance of old scars over time.
Moreover, Hydrocolloid acne patchesat an excellent solution for preventing new acne scars, ensuring a quick healing process. Consult with a dermatologist for the best treatment as well for your skin.
When it comes to acne scars, show your patience, protect your skin from the sun, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. It helps you to enhance your skin texture and tone.
How to Use Hydrocolloid Acne Patches for Best Results?
Before applying the acne patch, cleanse your skin thoroughly and remove dirt and oil
Let your skin dry well before applying the patch
Choose the right size of pimple patch
When applying the patch, peel off the backing carefully and place the adhesive side directly over the pimple.
How To Maximize Results?
Leave the acne patch on for several hours, often overnight.
Replace it with a new one when the pimple patch becomes full.
Remember, it takes time for pimples to fully heal. Be patient.
At the same time, you can use any prescribed acne medications
Common Mistakes To Avoid:
Don’t use a pimple patch too soon
Don’t use patches excessively
Don’t ignore other acne treatments as a pimple patch is a spot treatment, not a complete acne solution.

We all want to have healthy skin but we make several mistakes due to wrong care which leads to various skin problems. To achieve healthy skin it’s very important to follow such a face care routine with ingredients that are suitable for your skin type and solve your skin issues. For achieving glass-like healthy skin using the right face care products is not only enough but you also need to be mindful of not making these below common skin care mistakes.
Are You Making Any Of These Common Skin Care Mistakes?
Popping Your Pimples
This is such a mistake that most people do a lot. Popping the pimples may cause a variety of problems to your skin such as leaving an acne scar, worsening the acne, or even turning into an infection. So, it is always advised to use face care products that are specifically designed for your pimples. You can also opt for Fun Formulae skin care products that can help you get rid of pimples with ease. Fun Formulae provides a variety of products for pimples which are chemical-free and made with natural ingredients such as the best Face wash, Face  Scrub, Face Pack, and many more.
Not applying SPF On Your Neck & Hands
This is one of the most common & huge skincare mistakes that most people do which is skipping out on an SPF product. Well, we know clearly that exposure to harmful sun rays can lead to early signs of ageing. The sun’s UVA rays are known to penetrate your skin through windows & can get absorbed in your skin which can lead to various skin issues like wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots. So it’s recommended to get a chemical-free sunscreen with at least 30 SPF or above so that your skin can be protected from harmful rays. You can also use Fun Formulae Sun Tan Protective Day Serum With SPF 30 | For Normal, Oily and Acne acne-prone skin as it is ideal for treating hyperpigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring and wrinkles.
Regular use of Exfoliation
No matter what type of skin you have, it is not recommended by experts to exfoliate your skin regularly. If you over-exfoliate your skin then it can lead to skin irritation & redness. Hence, it is always recommended to exfoliate your face, body, and legs not more than once or twice a week.
If you want to use a chemical-free face scrub to get youthful and radiant skin then you can use our Face Scrub and Face Pack | 2 in 1 | Clarifying & Soothing | For Oily and Acne Prone Skin.
Not doing Patch Tests of  New Skincare products
A very common mistake most of us make is not doing patch tests before using new skincare products. Sometimes it can cause various skin problems like Skin irritation & redness. So always do a patch test before trying any skincare product which is done by applying the product to a less noticeable & small patch of the skin, to see if it suits your skin or not. You can do a patch test by applying a small amount of product to a spot on your neck or inner arm. For proper results, keep it on for about 12 to 24 hours or overnight. If your skin turns itchy or red after the time duration then the product is not appropriate for you. You can use Fun Formulae's best face care products without any issues as they are natural & don’t contain any such chemicals that can harm your skin.
Using Face Wipes To Remove Makeup
Today the most convenient option to remove makeup is facial wipes but they might be bad for your skin as they can cause skin irritation as well. So try to remove makeup with a gentle cleanser from Fun Formulae to remove excess dirt, makeup, and oil from the face.
Conclusion
If you want to get beautiful & spotless skin, first check on the above skincare mistakes as they might harm your skin. You can also use Fun Formulae skincare products as they can help in maintaining your skin at its best.
With proper skin care, you can keep your skin healthy & glowy. Fun Formulae has an amazing product range like face scrub for men, face wash for oily skin, and many more that can enhance your skin health with natural plant-based ingredients as it doesn’t contain any sort of chemicals.

10 Skincare Mistakes You Should Avoid for Healthy and Glowing Skin
Tumblr media
Skincare isn’t just about slathering on creams and serums; it’s a delicate science that requires attention and care. However, despite our best intentions, we often make mistakes that can hinder our skin’s health and appearance. In this blog, we’ll explore ten common skincare mistakes that you should avoid to achieve radiant, healthy skin.
Skipping Sunscreen:
One of the gravest skincare mistakes is neglecting sunscreen. UV rays from the sun can cause premature aging, dark spots, and even skin cancer. Make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your skincare routine, applying it daily, regardless of the weather. You can opt for Leafon Advanced Clarifying Natural Sunscreen with SPF 35 PA++.
Over-Exfoliating:
While exfoliation is crucial for removing dead skin cells and revealing brighter skin, overdoing it can lead to irritation, redness, and even breakouts. Limit exfoliation to 2-3 times per week, and choose gentle exfoliants suited to your skin type.
Ignoring Moisturization:
Many people with oily or acne-prone skin tend to skip moisturizer, fearing it will make their skin greasier. However, failing to moisturize can disrupt the skin's barrier function, leading to increased oil production and potential breakouts. Opt for Leafon Advanced Clarifying Natural Face Day Gel which is lightweight and non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores.
Using Harsh Products:
Aggressive cleansers and skincare products may promise quick results, but they can strip the skin of its natural oils and disrupt its pH balance, leading to dryness, sensitivity, and inflammation. Choose gentle, pH-balanced products like Leafon Advanced Clarifying Natural Face Toner which is formulated for your skin type to maintain its health and balance the pH level.
Picking at Your Skin:
The temptation to pick at blemishes or pop pimples can be strong, but it can cause more harm than good. Picking can introduce bacteria, leading to infections and scarring. Instead, treat blemishes with targeted skincare products containing ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Not Removing Makeup Before Bed:
Sleeping with makeup on is a cardinal sin in skincare. Makeup, along with dirt and pollutants accumulated throughout the day, can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Always cleanse your face thoroughly before bed to prevent skin congestion and promote overnight repair and renewal. Before taking your beauty sleep, make sure to apply Leafon Advanced Clarifying Face Night Cream to promote a luminous and rejuvenated complexion.
Neglecting Your Neck and DĂ©colletage:
Your neck and chest area are often overlooked in skincare routines, leading to signs of aging like sagging skin and wrinkles. Extend your skincare regimen beyond your face, applying moisturizer, sunscreen, and anti-aging products to your neck and décolletage to maintain a youthful appearance.
Inconsistent Skincare Routine:
Consistency is key to achieving and maintaining healthy skin. Skipping skincare steps or constantly switching products can disrupt your skin's equilibrium and hinder progress. Establish a simple, yet effective routine tailored by Leafon Skincare as per your skin's needs, and stick to it diligently.
Using Dirty Makeup Brushes:
Dirty makeup brushes can harbor bacteria, fungi, and old makeup residues, which can cause breakouts and skin infections. Clean your brushes regularly with mild soap or brush cleaner to keep them sanitary and your skin clear.
Neglecting Lifestyle Factors:
Skincare isn’t just about what you apply to your skin; it’s also influenced by lifestyle factors like diet, hydration, stress, and sleep. Aim for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids, stay hydrated, manage stress levels, and prioritize quality sleep to support overall skin health.
Conclusion:
By avoiding these common skincare mistakes and adopting healthy habits, you can nurture your skin and achieve the radiant, glowing complexion you desire. Remember, skincare is a journey, not a destination, so be patient and consistent in your efforts to maintain skin that looks and feels its best.

5 Mistakes to Avoid for Glowing, Healthy Skin: A Beginner's Guide
Welcome to our blog on achieving healthy, radiant skin! We all want to look and feel our best, and our skin plays a huge role in that. However, with so many conflicting opinions and products out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. That's why we've compiled a list of things NOT to do in order to have healthy skin. From excessive sun exposure to neglecting a daily skincare routine, we'll be covering the most common mistakes people make and how to avoid them. So, whether you're a skincare beginner or just looking to improve your existing routine, keep reading to learn how to take the best care of your skin.
Excessive sun exposure is one of the most common mistakes people make when it comes to skincare. UV rays can damage the skin, leading to wrinkles, age spots, and an increased risk of skin cancer. To protect your skin, be sure to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days, and try to limit your time in direct sunlight, especially during peak hours.
Smoking and using tobacco products can have a detrimental effect on your skin. The chemicals in cigarettes can cause wrinkles and discolouration, making skin look dull and aged. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your overall health, as well as the health of your skin.
Neglecting a daily skincare routine is another common mistake people make. Cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating are essential for keeping skin looking and feeling healthy. Skipping on these steps can lead to clogged pores and dull, dehydrated skin. Establishing a consistent routine will help to keep your skin looking its best.
Picking at or popping pimples is a bad idea for several reasons. Not only can it lead to scarring, but it can also cause further breakouts. Instead, use a spot treatment or see a dermatologist for advice on how to properly treat and prevent acne.
Using harsh or abrasive skincare products can be damaging to the skin. These products can cause irritation and dryness, leading to damage to the skin. It's important to use gentle, non-irritating products that are appropriate for your skin type.
In conclusion, by avoiding these common mistakes, you can achieve healthy, radiant skin that makes you look and feel your best. Remember to protect your skin from the sun, quit smoking, establish a daily skincare routine, avoid picking and popping pimples, and choose gentle, non-irritating products. Are You Washing Your Face Correctly?
Tumblr media
Wash Your Face | Cleansing | Skin Care Products Online | The Herbal Blend
Here’s What You Should Know
Knowing how to wash your face correctly is the most basic step in your skincare routine. It’s a simple step that makes sure all impurities, dirt and pollution are efficiently removed from your pores, leaving you with healthy, breathable skin. But there’s more to note when washing your face. Let’s get into it.
How to Wash Your Face the Right Way?
It may seem very simple but sometimes, we all make the mistake of missing out on basic points and it doesn’t hurt to remind so here are some of our tips:
Wash face in gentle, circular motions. Try not to wash your face with rough and heavy force as this will cause over cleansing and strip your skin dry
Wash your face for 1 minute maximum
Avoid washing your face more than once or twice daily as over cleansing is not good for skin and will cause irritation and sebum production
Use a face wash best suited for your skin concerns and skin type
If you use makeup, sunscreen or makeup remover, it’s best to also double cleanse your face. More on double cleansing below.
Why is Double Cleansing Important?
If you wear makeup or sunscreen, double cleansing is highly crucial because your regular face wash isn’t enough to properly penetrate deep into your pores and cleanse effectively. So, your pores will be clogged and lead to skin concerns such as pimples and blackheads.
Here are our tips on how to double cleanse your face:
You can double cleanse by using a mild micellar water
Soak some micellar water on a cotton pad and gently take off makeup or sunscreen with light motions
For heavy eye makeup, place a cotton pad saturated with micellar water on your eyelids for some seconds and then gently wipe it off
Or, instead of a micellar water, you can also use a cleansing oil or a cleansing balm- these are popular in the market these days
Once you remove the sunscreen and makeup with double cleansing, move on to the second cleansing step with your face wash
Well, that’s all then! That’s our simple and easy guide on how to properly cleanse face.

A Miraculous TikTok Account
Part 3
First
Previous
Next
It was a good thing that Master Fu was giving them a month to get used to each other before he was going to make them start posting, because Chloe doubted any of them would give a convincing performance if they were supposed to start acting as friends.
It’s almost like suddenly shoving five people into a confined space and saying ‘play nice’ caused tensions. Who knew?
They were, for the most part, avoiding each other.
After all, even before the whole ordeal, their best relationships with each other were tense. Ladybug had something against Chat, Carapace didn’t see eye to eye with Ladybug, and everyone definitely hated Chloe.
The only person who didn’t seem to be mad at anyone was Rena
but she was also relatively new, and Chloe was pretty sure everyone agreed with her when she said that Rena was annoying.
Chloe walked into the kitchen and fought back a wince when she saw Rena at the table eating cereal. She turned around as slowly as possible. Maybe she wouldn’t notice her, she was on her phone after all --.
“Chloe!”
Dang.
Chloe turned back around and tried for a smile, exhausted as she was. The worst part of all of this was that none of them could properly express their grievances without fear of someone being akumatized.
“I have some questions for you!”
She was still going to be super passive-aggressive, though.
“Again? Didn’t you get enough information the first few times?”
“Nope! Every answer just gives me more questions.”
She supposed she should just be glad that she wasn’t currently in costume. Her wings tended to buzz when she was annoyed and she doubted Rena could take any of them being angry with her.
“Okay. Go ahead, I’ll answer while I make myself food,” said Chloe.
Rena started questioning her about her powers. Luckily they just seemed to be the basics of her powers (Do all bees listen to her or only worker bees? Does she need to eat a lot of honey to create honey in battle? How do her wings carry her if, by all known laws of aviation, there is no way --?). Sure, they were awkward questions to answer because she only had theories, but the words ‘I don’t know’ seemed to satiate Rena just as much as proper answers.
She saw people shuffling in to make food and take it back to their rooms as quietly as they could while Rena was distracted with Chloe. She sent them glares out of the corner of her eyes but she didn’t call out to them or anything. This was a consequence of her own screw up, she would have to be the one to deal with it.
So, she drizzled honey on her cheerios and resigned herself to answering more questions.
~
Know what? Even if this is the direct result of her own mistake, she was allowed to complain.
And complain she would.
These people are the worst.
You already know why Rena was annoying to live with. Her constant questions gave Chloe no peace outside of her room.
And, inside her room, she had to deal with listening to Ladybug working on
something above her at all hours. Did Ladybug sleep? Signs point to no. Chloe wished that Master Fu hadn’t let her convert the attic into a room, it was very clear at this point that the people who made the house had not expected people to live in the attic. For some reason.
Chat Noir was
a cat. He slept almost the entire day and left things everywhere in the few hours he was awake. (Chloe understood that he likely had a maid back at his house, she wasn’t used to not having her normal butler around herself, but even she was better about picking up after herself.)
The only slightly tolerable one was Carapace. He spent most of his time hiding out in his room, studying.
Chloe had considered getting a job to get away.
(She wouldn’t actually get one, obviously, that was peasant stuff. Still, the fact that she even briefly thought about it is proof enough of the stress she was under.)
Beyond that, chores were just
not getting done. Have you ever seen a cat do something it was told to? Seen a turtle do anything at all? No? Chloe hadn’t seen that, either. The two bathrooms were a mess of different products. The washing machine was constantly in use because people kept forgetting that they were the last person to put anything in. She was beginning to forget whether or not the floors were carpeted she hadn’t seen them in so long

(The only things that got done were the garbage and dishes, and only because no one wanted the house to smell. Chloe wasn’t sure who did them. Chloe also didn’t care as long as it wasn’t her.)
So, yes, things were not looking good. The only reason no one got akumatized during that first week was that everyone was working to stay calm.
Eventually, they adapted like all humans -- or partial humans, because at this point she was pretty sure everyone was at least a little bit their animals -- do when put in a new situation.
Chat, after getting a single pimple because he couldn’t find one of his skincare treatments in the mess, ended up cleaning the bathrooms. It was here that the girls realized that some of the products in their own bathroom were, in fact, Chat’s products, but they were fine with it because now they didn’t have to bother cleaning.
Rena took up the rest of the cleaning. Apparently even the five of them were less messy than her younger siblings were. Whatever she found that had been there for days that wasn’t hers was thrown into Chat’s room -- which ended with a lot of things going ‘missing’ but it was better than finding stuff everywhere.
Ladybug ended up doing laundry. It seemed that Ladybug had some kind of knowledge about clothes (maybe it had something to do with the job she apparently had?), because they found that their clothes were completely devoid of wrinkles and that the colors were bright even after a few washes. They weren’t going to question it.
After seeing Chloe and Chat’s spending habits, Carapace had decided that he would be the one to go to the grocers. It may be Master Fu’s money, but apparently he couldn’t handle the idea of spending that much more than they needed.
And Chloe? Chloe did nothing.
Just kidding. She tended to all of the plants in and outside the house. She rather liked gardening, she thought, but she figured that it was just a side-effect of the bee miraculous. Either way, it led to the group having fresh herbs and vegetables on hand for cooking.
Hardly anyone cooked, but still. It’s the thought that counts... or something.
~
Chloe had finished her gardening for the day and now she looked at the sign up sheet for patrols.
She huffed a little when she saw that Chat had signed up for the night. Again.
She walked to Chat’s room to ask him to just let her have patrols tonight or at least take her with him.
She fought the urge to roll her eyes when she opened the door and found him curled up in a tiny patch of sunlight, asleep.
Wait
 asleep

She smiled at her kwami. Pollen never talked -- and she was pretty sure she’d never heard any of the others’ talk either -- but that didn’t mean that Chloe couldn’t tell that Pollen was disapproving of what Chloe was thinking.
“Oh, shut up --.” The kwami frowned and Chloe gave a little huff. “I didn’t mean -- whatever. Sorry. Buzz on.”
Chloe flew over to where Chat was sleeping and considered him for a minute. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep

Well, who was she to disturb that peace?
She picked up his phone and turned off the alarm to wake him up for patrols. A finger pointed at him, she mumbled the embarrassing call for her powers (“Don’twakeupdon’twakeup ‘Sticky Situation’ stayasleeeeep -- nice.”) and smiled when he was almost instantly coated with honey. She hardened the honey around him to make sure he was properly stuck.
(The honey stopped at his shoulders, a good distance away from his face and hair -- she was pretty sure he’d kill her if she did that and, with his power, that wouldn’t be hard.)
She stepped back and admired her handiwork.
She loved her power.
She snapped a picture and left the room.
Chloe hummed as she flew down the stairs to the main room. She crossed Chat’s name off of the list and replaced it with her own.
She made her way over to the couch and laid across it on her stomach to wait for patrols to start. She scrolled through TikTok absently, looking for ideas on what to do

“WAIT WHAT’S GOING ON --?!” She heard Chat’s voice yell, confused, but it cut itself off. There was a beat and she heard him yell again: “PLAGG, CLAWS OUT! CATACLYSM!”
Ah. Dang. She’d been hoping that she’d already be gone when he woke up...
“CHLOE! WHAT THE HECK?!”
Did he really need to figure out it was her so quickly? Sure, she was the only one that could use honey, but come on!
She looked back at her phone for the time.
One more hour

She saw Chat’s red face at the top of the stairs and tensed.
Well, there really is no harm in going early.

flawless - s.mg
pairing: song mingi x reader
angst/fluff
warnings: low self esteem, insecurities, anxiety, swearing
author’s note: lowkey, crying while writing this because mingi’s actually the bestest boy ever
Tumblr media
8:13AM.
i looked over at my phone and turned off my alarm that was going off. once the blaring tone was turned off, i laid there in silence and felt weirdly at peace. i somehow managed to get a full nine hours of sleep last night and now i woke up with no hesitation at all.
could today be the day?
i cautiously sat up and swung my legs off the side of the bed as i looked around. nothing seemed to be out of place. everything was how it was last night when me and mingi went to sleep. yes, the apartment was eerily quiet, but mingi must be out doing our breakfast run today since he was the first of the two of us to be awake.
shaking any hints of anxiety out from my head, i finally stood up and made my way to the bathroom to get myself ready for the day. as i stood over the sink, i grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste and brushed my teeth without a second thought. i stared at my reflection in the mirror as i observed my surroundings and mindlessly counted how many seconds i’ve been brushing my teeth.
when my eyes fell upon my face, i felt my chest tighten as i noticed the smallest blemish on the side of my face.
it’s okay, it’ll go away once you wash your face or do a face treatment. that should do the trick.
i finished up brushing my teeth then went on to start washing my face. i already had my face dampened and was getting my cleansing brush set up for use. when i tried turning it on, the brush did a small vibration then shut itself off. the tight feeling in my chest slowly began to increase as i tried to fix this issue myself but nothing seemed to work until i referred to possible scenarios that might be causing this issue on the internet. i tried everything and finally resorted to letting it charge before testing it out tonight.
i let out a deep breath then looked myself in the mirror, trying with my entire being to avoid turning my head to look at the blemish and freak out over its presence.
“you’re okay, (y/n). it’s just a small imperfection, it’ll heal soon.” i reassured myself.
i tried again with my skin care routine but turns out i’m also out of my personal facial cleanser as well.
okay, this is fine. it’s fine, i can just run out and get some with mingi when he comes back home.
i took a shower to somehow try and relax myself as i felt myself getting worked up, but turns out, the water was too hot when i first turned it on to get the water heated and i ended up stepping out of the shower with scorching hot skin and hissing in pain.
i wrapped myself in my fluffy bath robe that was hanging on the back of the door before waddling out of the bathroom and laying myself down on the bed to cool down.
so much for things to work out today because i couldn’t even wash my own face or take a shower without fucking everything up. the air around me felt heavy and everything felt cold and numb to me despite feeling like i just took a shower in lava.
i faintly heard the front door open then the jingle of keys and the patter of footsteps making their way around the apartment. the footsteps made their way towards the bedroom and in popped mingi’s head.
“baby, you awake?” his deep voice soft and husky as he asked the question.
i tried my best to respond but the words got caught in my chest as i struggled to breathe, instead letting out a gasp.
mingi made his way over to where i laid on the bed and pushed my hair away from my face.
“(y/n), you’re skin is so hot.” mingi pointed out
his eyes flickered across my face, before wiping underneath my eyes.
was i crying? i had no clue. everything feels like nothing.
i heard mingi sigh in defeat before scooping me up in his arms and taking me to the bathroom again.
“it’s okay lovely. we’ll try again. nothing to get worked up about.” he spoke softly.
the sound of running water echoed throughout the bathroom before it stopped and mingi was holding onto the hem of my bath robe.
“i’m going to take this off and put you into the bath okay? you’re okay, lovely. they were just little accidents that we can fix together in a few minutes.”
he placed a kiss on my forehead before loosening my bathrobe and settling me into the bath, keeping eye contact with me the entire time and not daring to wonder his eyes elsewhere.
when my body hit the warm water, that was slightly on the cooler end, some feeling came back to me as the temperature was just right to cool down my suffering body. soft sniffles escaped my nose as i averted my gaze towards mingi and stuck my hand out towards him.
“mingi...” i softly cried out to him.
he hushed me and sent me a soft smile before holding onto my hand and placing a soft kiss on my cheeks.
“it’s okay, you’re okay. you didn’t make any mistakes, just little accidents. we’ll make sure you turned the knob for the shower a little bit to the right next time so you’re not burning yourself alive.” mingi tried to lighten the mood with a small joke, but that still didn’t help the small pang that hit me in the chest.
“i messed up everything though. i-i was brushing my teeth and i noticed a small pimple on my face. i tried to wash my face but there was no more cleanser, then my cleansing brush wasn’t working, and now i have this on my face, and i’m ugly now and everyone’s-”
my gasps for air and sudden sob quickly cut me off as mingi took a hold of my face and gently placed a kiss on my lips to help calm me down.
“breathe, baby.” he reminded me.
he exaggerated his breaths in order for me to keep up with him then continued to talk everything out with me to help ease my mind when he helped me get my breathing on track.
“first of all, you are not ugly, baby. you are beautiful, so beautiful. and what pimple on your face? i can’t see it and i’m looking everywhere on your face right now. but if it makes you feel better, i got you some cleanser while i was out because you told me you were out of it last night so i made sure to get it while i got us breakfast too. as for your cleansing brush, i’m sorry you had trouble with it this morning baby, but hopefully it’ll work for you tonight. another thing that’ll might help you is if i help you with your skincare routine. i can do it for you while you just lay here and relax. don’t worry, my love, you’re not burdening me at all.”
after mingi finished talking, i didn’t know how to respond, but instead shut my eyes and let him do as he said. mingi’s hands gently working themselves onto my face then wiping away the foamy cleanser away from my face then working themselves against my neck and shoulders helped me to relax as i listened to his soothing voice mindlessly talking about nonsense shit that came to his head.
without realizing, mingi was then gently lifting me out of the water and wrapping a towel around me before sitting down on the bed and we just sat there together.
i opened my eyes and looked up at him with heat rising to my face.
“i’m sorry.” i said with a weak smile.
“don’t apologize for nothing. you didn’t do anything bad, you’re okay, baby. we’re okay.” mingi reassured me.
i breathed out a deep breath before nodding and saying what mingi tells me to say every time i’m having a hard time, “i’m making progress everyday, so it’s all going to be okay.”
author’s note: i just wanted to add this note at the end because i know not many people will be able to relate to this or maybe there will people who will, but i personally struggle with anxiety and this imagine was inspired by personal experience. this exact scenario never actually happened to me personally, but it’s similar to the other scenarios i’ve had where i would wake up first thing in the morning and have an anxiety attack because my mind would be too overactive. anxiety is different for everyone and there are different things that could set someone off. please take the time to look out for others who are around you and make sure they always feel safe and secure at all times. if you suffer from anxiety as well, remember that, yes, things will be difficult to handle at this moment in time, but it’s not forever. you’re making progress everyday and you have someone thinking about you and feeling so proud of you for getting through another day no matter how hard and difficult it was for you to get through it. you’re wonderful, lets keep moving forward together, okay?

Skincare catch-up
Below are all the products I’ve used or currently use in my skincare routine. Some do their job but are nothing fancy, some are bad purchases, and some I’ll actually repurchase.
My skin type is combination/oily, and I get acne when I’m stressed (not all over my face though, just 1-3 big pimples). I also have milia all over my cheekbones, and I’m looking into a way to have them removed by a professional since I wasn’t able to get rid of them on my own.
Cleansers
Currently using: Purity by Philosophy
Tumblr media
Rating: 6.5/10
It does its job, but I don’t think it worked better than a Garnier cleanser I tried a year ago, and it’s more expensive. Also, the smell is a bit odd. Clean, but odd. I got this as a free gift for signing up for an Ulta credit card, and it’s definitely smooth and feels good rubbing into my skin. This will probably work fine on most skin types. However, for the price tag (and my skin type), there’s probably something better out there for me.
Currently using: Daily Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash (Philosophy)
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
It’s a gentle-enough exfoliant that I can use it every morning as a cleanser in place of Purity (though if this is a big skincare mistake, someone please let me know!) It smells a bit like oranges and has a thick jelly texture. It feels refreshing and all, but again, I’m not sure how much it’s doing given the fact that I get breakouts whenever I’m stressed and I have to use other products to even out my skin tone again and get rid of acne. It does its job, but for the price, I could probably find something better for my specific skincare needs. That being said, I got the full size on sale for $15 at Christmas last year (normally $42) and it lasts a long time.
Trial: Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser by Drunk Elephant
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
Everyone can get their hands on this in one of the options for your free birthday gift at Sephora this year. If you missed your birthday, you can still get your gift by going on sephora.com and logging into your Beauty Insider account to temporarily change your birth date before you go shopping. Not a huge fan of the packaging, since it’s a little messy when my hands are wet from washing my face and I don’t want to get cleanser all over the sink and it’s hard to close if your fingers are slippery (if you’ve used this, you probably know what I’m talking about). Like Purity, the smell is a bit funky, but that could be a good sign since things that smell good usually have fragrance that can cause irritation. Still trying this though, will update later.
Sample: Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
Only had a sample size that lasted a week, but I liked this when I used it. You didn’t need much product to cleanse your whole face, and it smelled really clean and refreshing but not overpowering. Lathered nice, and I’ll probably try this someday when I get more than a little sample packet.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Foaming Wash
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
For a drugstore product, I really liked using this. The only reason I stopped was to try out the Philosophy products. My skin felt tight and clean after using this, and I could really lather to remove dirt and excess makeup. This is kind of my fallback, and my sister (age 20, combo skin) and my mom (age 50+, combo skin and rosacea) both like it too. Garnier also sells one in a blue bottle with aloe, but it’s not as good as this one and doesn’t have the micellar water.
Toner
Currently using: Thayers Witch Hazel & Rose Petal Toner
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Does its job, doesn’t irritate, is inexpensive, and you can find it at the drugstore and Target. In the future I want to try a toner more targeted to my acne-prone oilier skin, but this toner is a catch-all, and overall a solid option in online reviews.
Sample: Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
I only got a baby sample that lasted 3 days, but this was really nice when I used it. It’s definitely for oily skin since it has alcohol in it, but it didn’t dry me out and made my pores feel nice and tight. Wish I could review more in-depth, but didn’t get a chance to use this long enough.
Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner
Tumblr media
Rating: 6/10
I guess it worked (it’s been over a year since I’ve used this, though) and the smell was good, but I remember liking the Thayers better so I switched. Didn’t irritate or anything, nothing bad to say, but it didn’t leave an impression.
Serum
Currently using: The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA
Tumblr media
Rating: 9/10
For my first real foray into serums, this has worked pretty well. I wanted to increase my skin turnover rate and bring my milia to the surface, and this works well, is under $10, and is gentle enough to use every night. I didn’t want to try anything too drastic since I hadn’t used serum before, and this one was great. Will keep using, and will likely try other products from The Ordinary in the future.
Sample: Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
I got a small sample packet of this when I went to a Kiehl’s store for a free consultation, and it lasted about a week. I started to see results, but I ran out of the sample and went with The Ordinary since this little sucker is expensive. Seems like a great product, but not good on the budget.
Sample: Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-texturizing Serum Concentrate
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
Seems like a good product, and I liked it for the week I used it. No smell, smooth texture, all good. However, the price is steep, so I don’t think I’ll be buying this anytime soon.
Spot Treatments
Currently using: Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
I just bought this yesterday, so I’ll post more of a review after at least a week. First impressions: this is a spot treatment, and I don’t know who would use this all over their face like the box says you can do. It’s strong and a bit sticky (like superglue?) and you have to be careful not to touch your eyes or anything while you have some on your fingertips. It absorbs quickly, and while it’s definitely drying, you can put moisturizer over it just fine.
Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Gel
Tumblr media
Rating: N/A
I feel like I can’t “rate” this since it’s not OTC and I got it through a doctor’s prescription, but I loved this and if the doctor I switched to this past year hadn’t screwed up, I’d still be using it twice a day. Gentle, didn’t smell like anything, and kept my acne away pretty well. More of a preventative measure than something to use once you already have the acne.
Moisturizers
Currently using: Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer
Tumblr media
Rating: 8.5/10
I started using this a month ago, and I really like it, especially for a light morning moisturizer in the summer. It feels so smooth when you put it on, and the citrus smell is amazing. I like this one better than the Drunk Elephant one (below), and it’s half the price. I don’t think I’ll use this in the dry winter months, but it’s been great in warm temperatures and sunshine.
Trial: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream
Tumblr media
Rating: ~6.5/10
For the price, I don’t understand the hype here. Yeah, it’s a nice thick creamy moisturizer, but it doesn’t smell fabulous and I don’t think it works better than other moisturizers that are under $40. However, my sister is in love with this stuff, so maybe it’s just me.
Trial: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
I picked this one up at Ulta yesterday, so I haven’t had a long enough time to test it. However, it gets rave reviews, and my first impression was that it went on smoothly and felt nice, but I’ll have more to say later.
Sample: Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer Moisturizer
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
I liked this moisturizer a lot better than the other one I got as a free sample from Kiehl’s (below). No strong smell, applied smoothly (I’m saying this a lot, but there’s a reason), but I didn’t notice any “stress-minimizing”.
Sample: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm
Tumblr media
Rating: ?
Not for me. Didn’t go on my skin smoothly, I didn’t like the smell (vaguely oat-like? Or am I crazy?), didn’t feel great on my skin. I still had some left in the sample when I threw it out, it just isn’t for anyone with oily skin. Not sure why the girl at Kiehl’s gave me this, but whatever.
Garnier Skin Active Soothing 3-in-1 Face Moisturizer with Rosewater
Tumblr media
Rating: 6.5/10
Not good in the summer. I might go back to it in the winter, but this probably just made the milia on the thin skin under my eyes worse when it was humid out. More for dry skin, and the fragrance was a bit strong. Also, I felt like you needed a lot of product to use on your whole face, since it didn’t glide on like some of the more gel-textured moisturizers I’ve tried. Not too bad for the drugstore, though.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
I liked this, it definitely mattified my oily t-zone. The only reason I really stopped using it was because I wanted to try a moisturizer with SPF...
Neutrogena Moisturizer, SPF 15
Tumblr media

This didn’t work for me. The SPF made it more irritating if I got it close to my eyes or touched my eyes too soon after applying, and my nose in particular seemed really oily when I used this. Maybe only use this if you have normal-dry skin?

Currently using: St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

Rating: 7/10
I use this about 3 times a week at night, and I don’t find it too irritating like some people say the apricot or walnut scrub is. Pretty sure the beads in here are silicone, so it doesn’t tear up my face. I stopped using this for a few weeks, and when I picked it back up to try and get rid of an acne flare-up, it really helped. I definitely noticed that it was doing something when I went off it for a bit. Drugstore BHA (Salicylic Acid) that works for me.
Freeman Charcoal + Black Sugar Gel Mask and Scrub
Tumblr media
Rating: 4/10
Are you a scrub? Are you a mask? Make up your mind. It doesn’t really work as either, with a weird thick jelly texture and huge scrub beads. Only used twice, maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but even though this didn’t break me out or anything, it didn’t seem to do anything at all. Weird product.
GlamGlow Super-Clearing Mud Mask Treatment
Tumblr media
Rating: 6.5/10
For the price and with all the ingredients including a blend of AHAs, I thought this would do more. It’s satisfying to watch the mask turn lighter gray as it dries on your face, but you’re only supposed to use it once a week, and I haven’t noticed results after a month. A fun mask to try, but I won’t be repurchasing since it’s too expensive for not enough of a result.
Burt’s Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub
Tumblr media
Rating: 4/10
Chapstick would accomplish pretty much the same thing this does. It’s hard to scrub it into your lips, since the honey “beads” like to congeal into larger blobs, and it’s surprisingly expensive for a small little container at the drugstore. There have to be better lip scrubs out there, save your money.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Rosewater
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
A nice product, but I don’t get the hype or cult status. Good for a refreshing pick-me-up, but I don’t notice anything different when I don’t use it. Not really a setting spray, just extra hydration during the day if you’re into that. Good for wetting a beauty blender, though.

Skin-care for Beginners
Tumblr media
Since long back with the increasing amount of skin-care products, I’ve always wondered how I would start a regimen without having to consult to a dermatologist or waste money on a product that turns out to be incompatible with my skin despite reviews in YouTube. I was in my mid-teens then with interests of starting a new habit to benefit from, but my mom never allowed me to do such things as she believed that I was still young to do such skin-care (and also makeup). I wanted have a skin-care regimen to help and ease the irritations from my dry and dehydrated skin. Now that I’ve grown up, yeah, my mom finally allowed me to put light makeup and use some skin-care products.
This page will focus on various things related to skin-care based on my research (don’t worry, I’ll include the respective link), though it will mostly be for dehydrated and dry skin:
the types of skin
difference between “dehydrated” and “dry” skin
how to read labels
the generally “good” and “bad” ingredients to look out for in products
the order of using products
Types of skin:
There are about “5” different types of skin, namely:
Oily: due to an overproduction of sebum (an oily substance secreted by sebaceous glands in the skin; helps to keep the skin and hair moisturised).
Normal: a well-balanced skin; skin is neither too oily nor too dry.
Dry: less sebum production, leading to the skin having difficulties retaining moisture.
Combination: areas of the skin (particularly the “T” zone (forehead, nose and chin)) that varies in sebum production. For instance, an oily T-zone but normal/dry cheeks.
Sensitive: skin that deals with irritation and redness, even if the skin is oily, normal, dry or combination.
Our skin can be due to genetics and/or our environment, so you might’ve noticed your skin’s status changing from time to time.

Dehydrated and Dry Skin:
Dry skin is a skin condition from birth that involves the lack of sebum production, leading to a flaky, itchy and tight skin. To those with dry skin, oil-rich products and a moisturiser is a necessity.
Dehydrated skin focuses mostly on the lack of water in the skin leading to a dull, flaky, itchy and tight skin. Unlike dry skin, dehydrated skin varies according to the individual’s diet intake and environment. This requires water-rich products.

How to read labels:
As you’ve seen in skin-care products, they have a list of ingredients that are painful to look at due to the scientific chemical names it contain. Ingredients used are listed in descending order (highest concentration to lowest concentration). With that, you can deduce if a product is good/effective for a certain skin type if the “good"ingredients are more than the “bad” ingredients.
Along with the ingredients, this type of icon:

Those icons, also known as the “period after opening” icon, simply indicates the product’s expiration date once it is opened.

The main “good” and “bad” ingredients:
Let’s start off naming the bad or toxic ingredients that should be monitored in skin-care products.
Bad/toxic ingredients:
Parabens: potentially an endocrine (hormone) disruptor preservative used in products. Search out for the suffix “-paraben”.
Triclosan and Triclocarban: these ingredients are used in skin-care products as it contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. However, these ingredients are also potentially an endocrine disruptor.
Ethanolamines (MEA, DEA and TEA): those abbreviations are monoethanolamines, diethanolamines and triethanolamines respectively. They cause mild skin and eye irritations, however when it reacts with other ingredients, it is potentially carcinogenic.
Fragrance: any product that has a good smell contains fragrance. While it does smell good, its effect on the skin is the reverse. Fragrance is a mixture of chemicals to achieve that satisfying scent but it has been reported to cause allergic reactions and respiratory distress.
Alcohol: alcohol is a prominent ingredient used in cosmetics and skin-care products. While not all alcohols are bad, the main concern is the “drying” alcohol which can lead to a drying and flaking effect on the skin. Search out for: Ethanol, SD alcohol, Denatured alcohol and Ethyl alcohol.
Formaldehyde: used as an anti-bacterial preservative, it is safe to use in low levels, but a high concentration can lead to skin irritation.
Good ingredients:
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs): may help with fine lines, acne, irregular pigmentation, age spots and shrink enlarged pores. However, the side effect is that it leads to a mild irritation and increases sun sensitivity, therefore it is best to use a sunscreen during the morning.
Beta-hydroxy acids (salicylic acid): used to remove dead skin cells, improves texture and colour of sun-damaged skin and acne. This is less irritating than skin-care products containing AHAs.
Hyaluronic Acid: this can boost the skin’s moisture content and defend against moisture loss. Hyaluronic acid is the best as it is the optimal hydrator for all skin types.
Glycerin/ Glycerol: helps to restore normal skin hydration; helps maintain a healthy appearance and moisture level.
@Cleveland Clinic  @Paula’s Choice
If you’d like to know if the ingredients (that hasn’t been mentioned above) in a product is safe or not, please do search it out in Paula’s Choice (just click that). While not allllll ingredients are listed, it still contains detailed information about certain ingredients.
The order of using products:
Tumblr media
(picture @Cosmopolitan)
Cleanser: to remove the makeup, dirt and oil on the skin.
Toner: to clean, hydrate and nourish the skin; it acts as a primer for a better absorption of ingredients later on
Serum: basically concentrated hydrators, nutrients and antioxidants for the skin. Do not layer different serums at a time as it can result to irritation and decrease the serum’s effect on the skin.
Eye Cream: to protect the delicate skin of the eye area.
Spot treatments: refers to dark spots, pimples and acne scars treatment. Dab the treatment and let it dry before proceeding to the moisturiser.
Moisturiser: helps to maintain the water content in skin by avoiding water evaporation.
Face oil or Retinol (depends if A.M or P.M): Face oils are used to retain the moisture in the skin; it is used last because no products can penetrate an oil. Retinol helps to make the skin smoother over time; it also helps with exfoliation.
Sunscreen or Face oil (depends if A.M or P.M): should be the last after face oils as it is used to protect the face from the sun.
Tip: when applying something on the face, the lightest products goes first and the heaviest are the last.
@Cosmopolitan @Dermstore
And that is all for some skin-care knowledge for beginners. There are of course more than what was mentioned here, but that would be an intermediate or expert skin-care knowledge. Let’s take one step at a time in this skin-care journey y'all! I hope you guys find my skin-care notes helpful... this is my first time doing a somewhat informative post so please do excuse me for my mistakes.
