What gifts to buy for each Venus sign
Christmas is among us, my favourite season and time of the year. Venus is the planet of love, by nature it can display what we like to receive from others but if you don’t know their Venus or the house it’s in you can try to look at the persons Sun sign instead but Venus is ideal.
A gift based on their:
Sun sign will make them feel seen and like you know them well, it will be a gift they may appreciate
Venus sign is all they’ve ever desired it’s the pinnacle of their ideal gift. Especially as Venus represents how we like to receive and experience love

They need gifts that match their decisive nature and to let out that pent up energy they have in them, I honestly think experiences are the best for them. Or a box of hair dye for their impulsive moments

so since I've basically seen all the seasons at my house now I've got a decent understanding of the micro-climate of my yard, and i need to document it somewhere so here goes:
front yard gets scorched. straight up. it doesn't really let up until 2-3 pm so i need full sun drought tolerant plants in the front area. (i dug some swales to redirect runoff from the foundation of the house, so its a little more moist than it was when we first moved in) this can be slightly mitigated by planting a couple dwarf trees in the very front area of the yard but that'll only help a little. i got a hardy hibiscus 'dark mystery' (Hibiscus Moscheutos, native perennial) that i plant to take cuttings of next year that has been loving the heat. This area i also plan to plant a bunch of milkweed (current varieties I'm planning to get are sandhill milkweed [asclepias Humistrata] green milkweed [Asclepias Viridis] Purple milkweed [Asclepias Purpurascens]) I'm also planning to get some native ornamental grasses to place around the entire property (including the front yard) some other plants i planning to plant are cardinal flower (Lobelia Cardinalis), liatris (liatris Spicata), Gaillardia (Gaillardia Pulchella), prairie sage (artemisia Ludoviciana), mountain mint (pycnanthemum muticum). more to be decided after i put this wave in. (definitely want some bee balm)
right side of the yard (by the house) is dark, cool, wooded, and wet. the rhododendron i put in was doing great until my brother in law took a lawnmower to it. :( but at least i can replace it. this is also where i have my feijoas (he also ran over them but they bounced back). probably will just add some rhododendrons & hydrangeas. i need to look up some more native shade plants for this area.
left side of the yard (by the house) gets even more sun than the front yard. i want to get a green house eventually (i have to replace all the windows in my house so I'll repurpose those for it) so this is probably the best place to do it.
backyard is large, part is dry and sunny, and towards the back is wooded. this is where i plan to put the fruit & nut trees i want. i need to thin out some of the less mature trees because they're extremely dense at the moment. (got a battery-powered chainsaw. i would have just borrowed my stepdads tools but hes convinced i would break them if i used them. :/ but at least now my father-in-law can borrow mine if he needs it) in the center of the backyard is where i have 2 12x4 gardens beds, and in the future i plan to add 2 more. this is where i have a lot of passionflower maypop plants, i transplanted some to the fenceline but i want an archway trellis as well. (i have watched probably over a hundred gulf fritillary caterpillars turn into butterflies, they're everywhere) the right side of the yard is where i plan to put the taller fruit & nut trees, (wont block sunlight) but i also want to get some dwarf fruit trees to place around as well. also this summer i saw lightning bugs in the backyard (!!!!!!!) so i plan to put in some grasses around an area that's like 12x12 ft across that dips down a few feet. (this area literally looks like a dried up small pond) i looked up how to use clay to create a natural lining for a pond, so this area will be good for lightning bugs, frogs, toads, salamanders, etc. this is in the lowest part of the yard, so its an optimal place for it.
this is just some basic plans for the future- i got a lot of seeds online so its not too break-the-bank expensive, and i get a lot of bushes and trees from etsy which can be great for saving money, despite the slight increased risk for mislabeled plants. i save money with this so i can get some nicer varieties of fruit trees that i really want (fuji apples, hosui pears, bing & rainier cherry trees).
my father-in-law really enjoys canning and preserving so I'm growing all the trees so i can give him some fruit to preserve (he lives in a very low-laying area, and a lot of it is swamp so he doesn't have as much room for fruit trees, his blackberry jam is amazing) also a guy my partner works with is into gardening as well (dudes he gave us so many peppers literally pounds of them) so i want to be able to return the favor with fruit. :) my mom and stepdad also have some fruit trees but I'm hoping to grow some that they don't have so we can trade.
ultimately i just want to grow as much food as possible and give it away to everyone who wants it, while also hosting the ultimate butterfly rest stop.
if you read this and enjoyed it, I'm glad! I'll post about these projects as i do them (which will be slowly) so i hope maybe this will inspire some of you :)

I was forwarded this post by someone on my university campus:
"•DEI BOYCOTT PLAN.
• THIS IS THE FIRST STEP.
• LET’S FOLLOW AL SHARPTON’S LEADERSHIP.
• HERE IS THE DEI BOYCOTT PLAN THAT HAS BEEN SENT OUT TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS.
• THE 24 HOUR BLACKOUT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AS THE FIRST OF MULTIPLE COUNTER MEASURES TO THE ATTACK ON DEI
OUR FIRST OFFICIAL ACT:
• As our first initial act, we “TURN IT OFF”.
• For one day we show them who really holds the power.
• WHEN:
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 28TH. from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
• Do not make any purchases.
• Do not shop online, or in-store
• No Amazon
• No Walmart
• No Best Buy
   Nowhere!
• No McDonalds
DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON FOOD:
• Fast Food
• Gas
• Major Retailers
• Do not use Credit or Debit Cards for non essential spending.
WHAT YOU CAN DO IF NECESSARY:
• Only buy essentials of absolutely necessary items such as
(Food, Medicine, Emergency Supplies)
•If you must spend, ONLY support small, local businesses.
SPREAD THE MESSAGE
• Talk about it.
• Post about it.
• Document your actions that day!
WHY THIS MATTERS!
• Corporations and banks only care about their bottom line.
• If we disrupt the economy for just ONE day, it sends a powerful message.
• If they don't listen we make the next blackout longer.
• This is our first action.
• Our numbers are powerful.
• This is how we make  history.
AGAIN,
• FEBRUARY 28TH.
• The 24 Hour Economic Black Out Begins.
WE MUST USE THE POWER WE DO HAVE AND SEND AN ECONOMIC MESSAGE WITH OUR NUMBERS AS DR. KING DID IN THE 60’S.
NOW SHARE THIS MESSAGE AS OUR FIRST OF MULTIPLE ACTIONS AND STAY TUNED FOR FUTURE ACTIONS."
And to that I say, why not take it further? For all those that are able, why not extend it to 2 days? What about 3? What about 1 week? Make it a friendly challenge between you and your friends and family on who can last the longest. Companies have enough money that they can take the hit of losing one day of business. But what about an economic blackout lasting as long as we can hold out? What if we truly bought only our essentials instead of buying into the rampant consumerism that plagues our generation?
Their power lies in what we give them. They may have seeded their way into almost every aspect of our lives, but we have a chance to take some of that away from them.

hi so i know you know a lot abt hair stuff and my best friend lost a lot of hair due to illness (she's okay now) and if there was anything to help with her? she still has shoulder length ish hair but its uneven and thin due to her medications
thanksss!
I'm afraid I'm no biochemist, so I won't pretend to be able to help, especially with hair loss due to illness. I knew someone once with fabulous ginger hair, right down to their shoulders, which started thinning. The same thing happened to me after antibiotics but to a lesser extent.
While I won't facade that I can fix anything, and I'd always caution against people promising "natural remedies" to things like this assuming im going to mentally treat this as Telogen effluvium, my standard recommendations for hair loss from the scalp rather than breakage would be as follows:
-black seed oil. This was a GODSEND for me. It can be purchased online or from costless at tallaight. I would say there's maybe moderate evidence of its effectiveness. There are some very solid studies, but like most things, you can find evidence of anything if you look hard enough. I can say from experience it did work for me, and was a lot more effective than mint/rosemary oil.
-mint/rosemary oil. There was some preliminary evidence that it's as effective as minoxidil, HOWEVER, no one mentions that it's as effective as a dose of minoxidil that they literally never prescribed because it's so low. I still reccomend it, I use the cantu one, but pair/mix it with black seed oil. The use of the oils is said to improve blood flow to the scalp.
-gelatine hair masks. Sound bizzaire but there's some decent evidence behind this. I can't preach for it since I only started using it but check it out. Make sure your sources are reputable.
Idk the logistics like how long to leave it in or whatever, but it's cheap and could be worth a try.
-massage. When you use any of the oils you should always be massaging them in for about five minutes and leaving them for 1-4 hours. I use the oils every time I wash my hair.
-topical caffeine. Works in vitro, but not enough in vivo studies. I can see the logic behind it though so I'd give it a try
-avoid irritants like SD alcohol, benzoates, ect. If you're really picky you cna avoid phenoxyethanol.
-piroctane olamiene in shampoos. Very strong evidence, in fact I think it's definite. You can find them in shampoos like head and shoulders (which im not a fan of), or in moogoo products which are non irritating and cruelty free.
-pretty strong evidence as well behind copper peptides. The most popular serum (and basically one of the only peptide hair serums on the market cheap enough to be used by individuals and not stylists) from the ordinary costs enough to break a bank though, so I wouldn't favour this method.
-when dying the hair, try to avoid the roots and scalp and put the dye only as far on mods and ends as you need to.
-doctor. My prefered method. I had acne for years. Went to the doctor. Cream cleared it up in a week. Been off the cream for months and acne is pretty much still annihilated.
If your thinning is really bad a doctor may be able to help you or send you to a trichologist (which I am not).
-focus on methods that prolong the telogen phase of growth, and do research before you try anything new to see if it's suitable for you.
Things that DONT helo hair thinning listed below.
-castor oil
-coconut oil
-ginger juice.
Actual trichologists/biochemists, please feel free to make corrections/additions !! 🙏

Lavender Weed Strain Review & Information
Tumblr media
The best Lavender strain review will look into the genetics that make this strain so unique. It will also delve into growing potential and yields while also examining the user experience and essence that come along with the cannabis strain.
Lavender Strain Genetics
Is Lavender strain an indica or sativa? Lavender, also known as Lavender Kush and Soma #10, was bred by Soma Seeds. It is a 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid that is the result of crossing 4 unique strains from different parts of the world: Super Skunk, Big Skunk Korean, Afghani, and Hawaiian. Super Skunk As you can probably deduce from its name, this pot strain features an ultra-skunky essence. Skunk #1 is one of the parent-strains to Super Skunk. It is derived from Afghani, which plays a large role in creating Lavender. If you want to know how important the Super Skunk strain has been to the cannabis world, it is one of the parent strains to the world-famous Sour Diesel! Big Skunk Korean Strains Big Bud, Skunk #1 (again), and a Korean landrace go into making Big Skunk Korean. While it lacks a unique name, Soma Seeds used it throughout their breeding process to create much more than Lavender Kush. Somativa, Kahuna, and Somango are all descendants of Big Skunk Korean. This bud strain is rare but appears to be quite energizing in nature. Afghani The Afghani indica landrace comes from where some of the oldest cannabis plants were ever cultivated! It treats insomnia and pain like a champion and is used to pass on its resin-drenched buds through many breeding programs. So many marijuana strains can be traced back to Afghani, including classics like Northern Lights and Amnesia Haze. Hawaiian The Hawaiian sativa landrace produces an energetic experience that is both happy and creative. The light green buds contain and tropical fruit essence reminiscent of its growing location. It has spawned strains like Pineapple Express and Amnesia Haze. Availability Of Lavender Strain Genetics You can find Soma Seeds Lavender through many online seed banks. If you purchase feminized seeds, you are aiming to grow consumable bud. If you find regular seeds, you can grow males and females, which have the potential for breeding new generations and phenotypes. Derivative Strains Lavender Kush is popular on its own, but it has also created a few child strains that are popular as well. Two of the more well-known spawns are Cotton Candy and Wookie strains. Cotton Candy is Lavender crossed with Power Plant, which results in a balanced experience and an essence rich in cherries and floral tones. Appalachia and Lavender combine to create Wookie. It delivers a sour floral essence with a balanced high that is well suited for reducing the effects of stress.
Lavender Strain Yield
Lavender is easy to grow and does well in any climate that doesn’t have frost-producing temperatures through the growing season. Unfortunately, the yields aren’t very high with this weed strain. Growing this pot strain indoors will typically result in around 1.2 ounces per square foot of plant, while outdoor growers can let their plants stretch to their heart’s content and harvest about 9 ounces of bud per plant. It’s not on par with ultra-heavy producers on the market today.
Lavender Strain Flowering Time
Tumblr media
The flowering period for Lavender will last about 9-10 weeks for optimal potency and terpene profiles to develop in the buds. Outdoor growers will be harvesting in mid-October. Dark purple and violet infiltrate the leaves and buds through the flowering stage if low temperatures are present during the early flowering stage. The curly orange hairs wrap around the bud and attempt to cover the crystal appearance of trichomes below.
Lavender Kush Strain THC Percentage
Lavender has so many parent strains that it puts out a variety of phenotypes. With this many phenotypes, it’s understandable to have a wide range of potencies in the buds produced. Lavender has been tested between 14-27% THC. Everyone from absolute beginners to daily smokers can find a batch of this strain with optimal potency for their needs. The high is quite similar to a generic indica. The cerebral effects are euphoric and happy while the body relaxes and melts into sedation. Many users find it useful to fall asleep at night, but it can be used any time of day.
Lavender Strain Flavor & Aroma
The aromatic qualities of Soma #10 put off a spicy and floral essence that resembles lavender itself. The flavor is quite similar, with a hashy presence as well. Lavender Strain Terpene Profile Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Pinene dominate Lavender Kush. Myrcene acts as an antioxidant, induces relaxation, and is thought to be the culprit of couch lock. Pinene is a catch-all for medicinal uses, treating pain, inflammation, and anxiety. Caryophyllene brings spiciness to the plate and helps fight the effects of inflammation. While Lavender is certainly unique, there are other strains with similar effects and terpene profiles, like Grape Ape, Cherry Pie, and Pineapple OG.
Medical Conditions Lavender Strain Can Help
If you are looking at using Lavender for medicinal purposes, you are in good hands. It can be used to treat many ailments, including: - Chronic Stress - Pain - Insomnia - Anxiety - Nausea - Arthritis - Depression - Headaches & Migraines - PMS - PTSD The only thing it lacks is a good dosage of CBD. If you consume Lavender Kush and combine it with a CBD supplement, you have everything that cannabis has to offer for medicinal purposes! Cannabis strains recognized for their ability to induce feelings of peace and relaxation are common, and one such strain is lavender. This indica-dominant hybrid has a flavor profile as well as a scent that is unlike any other strain, which helps it stand out from the crowd. In this post, we'll take a more in-depth look at lavender, discussing its history, as well as its affects, growing suggestions, and more.
The Genealogy and Family Tree of the Lavender Strain
A mix between Super Skunk, Big Skunk Korean, and Afghani Hawaiian resulted in the creation of the hybrid strain known as Lavender. In the 1990s, Soma Seeds was the first company to breed this strain, and it immediately rose to prominence due to the distinctive flavor profile and effects it exhibited.
Description of the Appearance and Smell of the Lavender Strain
The buds of lavender have a purple tint, a medium size, and a dense structure. Additionally, they are covered in trichomes. The name of the plant comes from the pleasant and fragrant scent it gives off, which has undertones of lavender. Lavender has a distinct flavor profile that is equally as distinctive as its perfume, with a taste that is both sweet and spicy that lingers on the palate.
The Effects of the Lavender Strain, as well as Its Medicinal Benefits
Due to the fact that lavender is well-known for its ability to soothe and relax, it is frequently recommended to people who struggle with conditions such as anxiety, stress, or sleeplessness. It is also known to promote appetite, which makes it an excellent strain for people who suffer from illnesses such as anorexia or nausea caused by chemotherapy. Lavender is a strain that has a THC level that normally runs from 17-23%, making it a strain that is fairly potent. Linalool, a terpene that is renowned for its relaxing effects and potential anti-inflammatory qualities, is present in large amounts in this substance as well.
Advice on Cultivating the Lavender Strain
It is recommended that growers of all levels of experience start with Lavender because it is a strain that is not overly difficult to cultivate. It thrives best in dry climates that are warm and range from 70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit in temperature. Flowers can be produced by lavender plants after an average of eight to nine weeks have passed since the plant was planted. Growers should also be aware that lavender plants, when in their flowering state, can produce a potent odor; therefore, enough ventilation is absolutely necessary.
Conclusions Regarding the Lavender Variety
Those who are looking for an experience that is both tranquil and relaxing will find great success with the Lavender strain, which is both distinctive and tasty. Its aroma and flavor profile, which are both sweet and floral, set it apart from other strains, and its medicinal properties make it an excellent option for people who struggle with anxiety, stress, or appetite loss. Lavender is an excellent option for your next harvest, regardless of your level of experience as a gardener (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).
Final Words On The Lavender Weed Strain
Lavender Kush, or Soma #10, is a beautiful melting pot of what cannabis around the world has to offer. It’s no wonder why this strain pleases consumers and continues to be used for breeding new child strains to utilize its traits. Learning about cannabis strains like this is awesome, right? If you care to learn more about cannabis, from growing it to the commercial industry, we have plenty of training courses here at Cannabis Training University. Check them out and find out why knowledge is power! Is Lavender Strain Indica or Sativa? The Indica-dominant hybrid strain known as Lavender (sometimes referred to as Soma #10) has a THC content that can reach as high as 19% and has won first place in a number of competitions. Growing food, such as planting seeds teaches children about nature, nutrition, responsibility for caring for something, and about where their food originated. It could even help picky eaters develop more of an interest.
𝟯. 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

I highly suggest everyone reads this. Anyone can be caught unaware by fraud. Through calls and texts, emails, skimmers at ATMs and PoSs, and more. The best way to protect yourself is stay aware - stay up to date on the way scammers behave.
This one's apparently hitting Credit Union customers, so heads up if that includes you. With banking especially, if you get an unexpected call - Always remember to say thanks for the information, then hang up. Look up the bank's number yourself (and I mean from your statement or website you use regularly, not a fast google search - even those search results have been seeded by scammers lately.) Never trust the number some stranger on the phone gives you.
One of my regular grocery stores recently found skimmers at their checkouts. I've had two likely phishing emails forwarded to me by co-workers in the last week or two. One was a pretty legit looking 'Your QuickBooks subscription has expired!' notice that was forwarded with a note saying, 'Please pay this'. Luckily we use QB Online not desktop and I was paying attention. Right at USA tax time. Ya gotta watch out for yourselves out there.
How I got scammed

I wuz robbed.
More specifically, I was tricked by a phone-phisher pretending to be from my bank, and he convinced me to hand over my credit-card number, then did $8,000+ worth of fraud with it before I figured out what happened. And then he tried to do it again, a week later!
Here's what happened. Over the Christmas holiday, I traveled to New Orleans. The day we landed, I hit a Chase ATM in the French Quarter for some cash, but the machine declined the transaction. Later in the day, we passed a little credit-union's ATM and I used that one instead (I bank with a one-branch credit union and generally there's no fee to use another CU's ATM).
A couple days later, I got a call from my credit union. It was a weekend, during the holiday, and the guy who called was obviously working for my little CU's after-hours fraud contractor. I'd dealt with these folks before – they service a ton of little credit unions, and generally the call quality isn't great and the staff will often make mistakes like mispronouncing my credit union's name.
That's what happened here – the guy was on a terrible VOIP line and I had to ask him to readjust his mic before I could even understand him. He mispronounced my bank's name and then asked if I'd attempted to spend $1,000 at an Apple Store in NYC that day. No, I said, and groaned inwardly. What a pain in the ass. Obviously, I'd had my ATM card skimmed – either at the Chase ATM (maybe that was why the transaction failed), or at the other credit union's ATM (it had been a very cheap looking system).
I told the guy to block my card and we started going through the tedious business of running through recent transactions, verifying my identity, and so on. It dragged on and on. These were my last hours in New Orleans, and I'd left my family at home and gone out to see some of the pre-Mardi Gras krewe celebrations and get a muffalata, and I could tell that I was going to run out of time before I finished talking to this guy.
"Look," I said, "you've got all my details, you've frozen the card. I gotta go home and meet my family and head to the airport. I'll call you back on the after-hours number once I'm through security, all right?"
He was frustrated, but that was his problem. I hung up, got my sandwich, went to the airport, and we checked in. It was total chaos: an Alaska Air 737 Max had just lost its door-plug in mid-air and every Max in every airline's fleet had been grounded, so the check in was crammed with people trying to rebook. We got through to the gate and I sat down to call the CU's after-hours line. The person on the other end told me that she could only handle lost and stolen cards, not fraud, and given that I'd already frozen the card, I should just drop by the branch on Monday to get a new card.
We flew home, and later the next day, I logged into my account and made a list of all the fraudulent transactions and printed them out, and on Monday morning, I drove to the bank to deal with all the paperwork. The folks at the CU were even more pissed than I was. The fraud that run up to more than $8,000, and if Visa refused to take it out of the merchants where the card had been used, my little credit union would have to eat the loss.
I agreed and commiserated. I also pointed out that their outsource, after-hours fraud center bore some blame here: I'd canceled the card on Saturday but most of the fraud had taken place on Sunday. Something had gone wrong.
One cool thing about banking at a tiny credit-union is that you end up talking to people who have actual authority, responsibility and agency. It turned out the the woman who was processing my fraud paperwork was a VP, and she decided to look into it. A few minutes later she came back and told me that the fraud center had no record of having called me on Saturday.
"That was the fraudster," she said.
Oh, shit. I frantically rewound my conversation, trying to figure out if this could possibly be true. I hadn't given him anything apart from some very anodyne info, like what city I live in (which is in my Wikipedia entry), my date of birth (ditto), and the last four digits of my card.
Wait a sec.
He hadn't asked for the last four digits. He'd asked for the last seven digits. At the time, I'd found that very frustrating, but now – "The first nine digits are the same for every card you issue, right?" I asked the VP.
I'd given him my entire card number.
Goddammit.
The thing is, I know a lot about fraud. I'm writing an entire series of novels about this kind of scam:
https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250865878/thebezzle
And most summers, I go to Defcon, and I always go to the "social engineering" competitions where an audience listens as a hacker in a soundproof booth cold-calls merchants (with the owner's permission) and tries to con whoever answers the phone into giving up important information.
But I'd been conned.
Now look, I knew I could be conned. I'd been conned before, 13 years ago, by a Twitter worm that successfully phished out of my password via DM:
https://locusmag.com/2010/05/cory-doctorow-persistence-pays-parasites/
That scam had required a miracle of timing. It started the day before, when I'd reset my phone to factory defaults and reinstalled all my apps. That same day, I'd published two big online features that a lot of people were talking about. The next morning, we were late getting out of the house, so by the time my wife and I dropped the kid at daycare and went to the coffee shop, it had a long line. Rather than wait in line with me, my wife sat down to read a newspaper, and so I pulled out my phone and found a Twitter DM from a friend asking "is this you?" with a URL.
Assuming this was something to do with those articles I'd published the day before, I clicked the link and got prompted for my Twitter login again. This had been happening all day because I'd done that mobile reinstall the day before and all my stored passwords had been wiped. I entered it but the page timed out. By that time, the coffees were ready. We sat and chatted for a bit, then went our own ways.
I was on my way to the office when I checked my phone again. I had a whole string of DMs from other friends. Each one read "is this you?" and had a URL.
Oh, shit, I'd been phished.
If I hadn't reinstalled my mobile OS the day before. If I hadn't published a pair of big articles the day before. If we hadn't been late getting out the door. If we had been a little more late getting out the door (so that I'd have seen the multiple DMs, which would have tipped me off).
There's a name for this in security circles: "Swiss-cheese security." Imagine multiple slices of Swiss cheese all stacked up, the holes in one slice blocked by the slice below it. All the slices move around and every now and again, a hole opens up that goes all the way through the stack. Zap!
The fraudster who tricked me out of my credit card number had Swiss cheese security on his side. Yes, he spoofed my bank's caller ID, but that wouldn't have been enough to fool me if I hadn't been on vacation, having just used a pair of dodgy ATMs, in a hurry and distracted. If the 737 Max disaster hadn't happened that day and I'd had more time at the gate, I'd have called my bank back. If my bank didn't use a slightly crappy outsource/out-of-hours fraud center that I'd already had sub-par experiences with. If, if, if.
The next Friday night, at 5:30PM, the fraudster called me back, pretending to be the bank's after-hours center. He told me my card had been compromised again. But: I hadn't removed my card from my wallet since I'd had it replaced. Also, it was half an hour after the bank closed for the long weekend, a very fraud-friendly time. And when I told him I'd call him back and asked for the after-hours fraud number, he got very threatening and warned me that because I'd now been notified about the fraud that any losses the bank suffered after I hung up the phone without completing the fraud protocol would be billed to me. I hung up on him. He called me back immediately. I hung up on him again and put my phone into do-not-disturb.
The following Tuesday, I called my bank and spoke to their head of risk-management. I went through everything I'd figured out about the fraudsters, and she told me that credit unions across America were being hit by this scam, by fraudsters who somehow knew CU customers' phone numbers and names, and which CU they banked at. This was key: my phone number is a reasonably well-kept secret. You can get it by spending money with Equifax or another nonconsensual doxing giant, but you can't just google it or get it at any of the free services. The fact that the fraudsters knew where I banked, knew my name, and had my phone number had really caused me to let down my guard.
The risk management person and I talked about how the credit union could mitigate this attack: for example, by better-training the after-hours card-loss staff to be on the alert for calls from people who had been contacted about supposed card fraud. We also went through the confusing phone-menu that had funneled me to the wrong department when I called in, and worked through alternate wording for the menu system that would be clearer (this is the best part about banking with a small CU – you can talk directly to the responsible person and have a productive discussion!). I even convinced her to buy a ticket to next summer's Defcon to attend the social engineering competitions.
There's a leak somewhere in the CU systems' supply chain. Maybe it's Zelle, or the small number of corresponding banks that CUs rely on for SWIFT transaction forwarding. Maybe it's even those after-hours fraud/card-loss centers. But all across the USA, CU customers are getting calls with spoofed caller IDs from fraudsters who know their registered phone numbers and where they bank.
I've been mulling this over for most of a month now, and one thing has really been eating at me: the way that AI is going to make this kind of problem much worse.
Not because AI is going to commit fraud, though.
One of the truest things I know about AI is: "we're nowhere near a place where bots can steal your job, we're certainly at the point where your boss can be suckered into firing you and replacing you with a bot that fails at doing your job":
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/15/passive-income-brainworms/#four-hour-work-week
I trusted this fraudster specifically because I knew that the outsource, out-of-hours contractors my bank uses have crummy headsets, don't know how to pronounce my bank's name, and have long-ass, tedious, and pointless standardized questionnaires they run through when taking fraud reports. All of this created cover for the fraudster, whose plausibility was enhanced by the rough edges in his pitch - they didn't raise red flags.
As this kind of fraud reporting and fraud contacting is increasingly outsourced to AI, bank customers will be conditioned to dealing with semi-automated systems that make stupid mistakes, force you to repeat yourself, ask you questions they should already know the answers to, and so on. In other words, AI will groom bank customers to be phishing victims.
This is a mistake the finance sector keeps making. 15 years ago, Ben Laurie excoriated the UK banks for their "Verified By Visa" system, which validated credit card transactions by taking users to a third party site and requiring them to re-enter parts of their password there:
https://web.archive.org/web/20090331094020/http://www.links.org/?p=591
This is exactly how a phishing attack works. As Laurie pointed out, this was the banks training their customers to be phished.
I came close to getting phished again today, as it happens. I got back from Berlin on Friday and my suitcase was damaged in transit. I've been dealing with the airline, which means I've really been dealing with their third-party, outsource luggage-damage service. They have a terrible website, their emails are incoherent, and they officiously demand the same information over and over again.
This morning, I got a scam email asking me for more information to complete my damaged luggage claim. It was a terrible email, from a noreply@ email address, and it was vague, officious, and dishearteningly bureaucratic. For just a moment, my finger hovered over the phishing link, and then I looked a little closer.
On any other day, it wouldn't have had a chance. Today – right after I had my luggage wrecked, while I'm still jetlagged, and after days of dealing with my airline's terrible outsource partner – it almost worked.
So much fraud is a Swiss-cheese attack, and while companies can't close all the holes, they can stop creating new ones.
Meanwhile, I'll continue to post about it whenever I get scammed. I find the inner workings of scams to be fascinating, and it's also important to remind people that everyone is vulnerable sometimes, and scammers are willing to try endless variations until an attack lands at just the right place, at just the right time, in just the right way. If you think you can't get scammed, that makes you especially vulnerable:

Stock Market Basics for Beginners: How to Start Trading in India
Picture this: You open a stock market chart for the first time, and it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Been there! When I first started, those squiggly lines and mysterious numbers might as well have been ancient hieroglyphs. But here’s the good news—if this confused beginner could figure it out, you absolutely can too.
Tumblr media
The Story That'll Surprise You:
Did you know something fascinating? Right here in India, our National Stock Exchange (NSE) isn’t just big—it’s the world’s largest derivatives exchange by volume. Pretty impressive, right? But wait till you hear this: from 2019 to 2023, Demat accounts in India exploded from 35 million to over 110 million. Think about it—that’s like the entire population of a small country joining the investment world!
And if you’re thinking, “Isn’t this just for rich folks?”—the Sensex has a story to tell. From a modest 1,000 points in the ‘90s to dancing above 60,000 today, it’s proof that patience pays off in the market.
Getting Started: Your Step-by-Step Journey
The Essential Toolkit 🗂️
Just like you wouldn’t cook without ingredients, you can’t trade without these basics: ✔ PAN Card (Your financial identity) ✔ Aadhaar Card ✔ An active bank account ✔ Proof of address ✔ A few passport photos ✔ Recent bank statements (especially if you’re eyeing derivatives)
Setting Up Your Trading Hub 💻
You’ll need two key players:
A Demat Account – Your digital share vault.
A Trading Account – Your market gateway.
💡 Pro Tip: Check out platforms like Zerodha Kite, ICICI Direct, or Angel Broking. They’ve made the process so smooth that you can set everything up online in just 2-3 days!
Speaking Stock Market Language 📚
Remember how confusing cricket commentary was before you learned the game? Market terms are similar:
Market Cap = A company’s league ranking.
Volume = Today’s popularity contest.
P/E Ratio = The “Is it worth it?” number.
Dividend Yield = Your patience reward.
Volatility = The stock’s drama quotient.
Your Path to Success 💰
Let me share some wisdom I wish someone had shared with me:
The Golden Rules ✨
✔ Start tiny (seriously, no need to go big). ✔ Only invest what won’t keep you up at night. ✔ Mix things up (different stocks = better sleep). ✔ Keep emotions in the backseat. ✔ Always have an exit plan (for both wins and losses).
Smart Money Moves 💡
The 20% Rule: Save first, then invest.
Age-Based Planning: 100 minus your age = stock percentage.
Time Horizon: Think 5+ years for real results.
Mistakes to Skip (Thank Me Later!) 🚫
We all stumble, but here’s your cheat sheet to avoid the big ones: ❌ Going in blind (research is your best friend). ❌ Following random “experts” (social media isn’t your financial advisor). ❌ The one-stock gamble (spread those wings!). ❌ Playing with borrowed money (just… no). ❌ Emotional trading (your gut isn’t always right).
Level Up Your Market Game 📈
Think of this like building a skill tree:
Foundation Skills:
✔ Make financial news your morning coffee companion. ✔ Join investor communities (learn from others’ wins and oops moments). ✔ Attend Mudrank webinars & workshops (knowledge = power). ✔ Practice with paper trading (free mistakes!).
Track Your Journey:
✔ Keep a trading diary. ✔ Note your “why” for every trade. ✔ Monthly review sessions (celebrate wins, learn from losses).
Your Reading List 📚
Want to dig deeper? These books changed my game:
📘 Trading Adventures:
Technical Analysis of Financial Markets – Murphy’s chart magic.

Trading in the Zone – Master your trading mindset.
📗 Long-term Wealth Building:
The Intelligent Investor – Buffett’s bible.

Best Agriculture Loan Services of Chandel, Manipur
Tumblr media
Agriculture plays a vital role in the economic structure of Manipur, a state located in the northeastern part of India. With its fertile lands and a climate conducive to diverse crops, the agricultural sector in Manipur is a significant contributor to the livelihoods of its people. However, farming in this region faces numerous challenges, from unpredictable weather patterns to limited access to resources and capital. One of the most crucial resources that farmers need is financial support, especially in the form of agriculture loans.
In this article, we will explore the best agriculture loan services available in Manipur and how they cater to the needs of the state's farming community. These loans offer an essential lifeline to farmers, enabling them to grow their businesses, adopt modern techniques, purchase necessary equipment, and overcome financial barriers.
Understanding Agriculture Loan Services
Agriculture loans are designed to provide financial assistance to farmers for various purposes, such as buying seeds, fertilizers, machinery, irrigation systems, and paying for labor. The loans are also critical for managing the costs of production during off-seasons and when unexpected circumstances, such as droughts or floods, impact crop yield. Agriculture loan services in Manipur aim to improve the overall financial stability of farmers, helping them to thrive in their profession and contribute to the local economy.
The state of Manipur has a wide variety of agriculture loan services offered by financial institutions such as banks, cooperative societies, and government schemes. These loans vary in terms of eligibility, interest rates, loan amounts, and repayment schedules, which allows farmers to select an option that best suits their individual needs.
Key Features of Agriculture Loan Services in Manipur
Affordable Interest Rates: One of the main attractions of agriculture loan services in Manipur is the relatively low interest rates compared to personal or business loans. Government schemes often offer subsidized rates, making it easier for farmers to repay the loans. Lower interest rates reduce the financial burden on farmers and improve their chances of success in agricultural ventures.
Flexible Repayment Terms: Agriculture loan services in Manipur typically offer flexible repayment schedules, allowing borrowers to repay the loan in installments based on the crop cycle or harvest season. This is crucial for farmers, as they may not have a consistent income throughout the year. Such flexibility helps farmers plan and manage their finances better.
Loan Amounts Based on Needs: Loans are disbursed according to the specific needs of the farmer, with the amount varying based on factors such as the scale of the farming operation and the type of crops being cultivated. This ensures that farmers receive the right amount of financial support to cover their production costs without being overburdened.
Government Subsidies: Several government schemes aim to provide subsidized agriculture loans to promote the development of the agricultural sector. These schemes often target small and marginal farmers, providing them with financial support to boost their productivity and income levels. The government also provides interest subvention for timely loan repayment, further reducing the financial burden.
Use of Technology: In recent years, several agricultural loan services have begun incorporating digital platforms to simplify the loan application and disbursement processes. Online applications and mobile banking services make it easier for farmers in remote areas to access loans and manage repayments efficiently.
Loan for Varied Purposes: Agriculture loan services in Manipur are designed to cater to the diverse needs of farmers. These loans can be used for purchasing agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers, investing in modern machinery, setting up irrigation systems, and even for land development. Additionally, there are loans available for post-harvest management, storage, and transportation.
Government Initiatives for Agriculture Loans in Manipur
The government of India, along with the state government of Manipur, has introduced various initiatives to support agriculture and farming in the region. These initiatives have been instrumental in improving access to credit and ensuring that farmers have the resources they need for growth. Some of the prominent government schemes for agriculture loans include:
Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme: The KCC scheme is one of the most popular financial assistance programs for farmers across India, including Manipur. This scheme provides farmers with access to credit for meeting their short-term and medium-term agricultural needs. Under the KCC scheme, farmers can obtain loans for purchasing seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs. The loan is repayable in easy installments after the harvest season.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme: This is a direct cash transfer scheme that provides financial assistance to farmers, especially small and marginal ones. While it is not a direct agriculture loan, the funds provided under this scheme can be used by farmers to meet their immediate financial needs, which may include taking out an agriculture loan.
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA): This scheme is primarily designed to provide employment to rural households, but it also offers the potential to boost agricultural productivity. Through MGNREGA, farmers in Manipur can get labor for agricultural projects, which helps them to save on labor costs and invest in other critical resources, such as loans for equipment.
Interest Subvention Scheme: The government offers interest subvention for short-term crop loans under certain conditions. This scheme is designed to make loans more affordable for farmers and incentivize timely repayment. It plays an important role in encouraging farmers to take loans for seasonal crop production.
NABARD’s Agricultural Loan Schemes: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) offers a range of agricultural loan schemes in Manipur. These include loans for crop production, infrastructure development, and agricultural business ventures. NABARD’s focus is on providing credit to farmers who are involved in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Benefits of Agriculture Loan Services in Manipur
Improved Productivity: Access to financial support through agriculture loans helps farmers adopt modern farming techniques, purchase quality seeds, and invest in the latest machinery. This directly leads to better productivity, higher yields, and improved crop quality.
Mitigation of Risks: Agriculture is inherently risky, with natural calamities and unforeseen events affecting production. Agriculture loans help farmers navigate these risks by providing funds during difficult times. These loans act as a safety net, allowing farmers to recover from losses and continue their operations.
Boost to Rural Economy: When farmers succeed, they contribute significantly to the local economy. Agriculture loan services create a positive ripple effect, helping not just the farmers but also the associated industries, such as transportation, fertilizer supply, and storage services.
Encouragement of Sustainable Practices: With access to credit, farmers can also invest in sustainable agricultural practices, such as organic farming or the use of eco-friendly technologies. This not only benefits the environment but also improves the long-term profitability of farming operations.
Conclusion
The best agriculture loan services in Manipur have a transformative potential for the state's farming community. These loans provide farmers with the capital they need to invest in modern technology, increase production, and ensure sustainability. Government schemes and financial institutions are constantly working to improve access to loans and make the process as simple and farmer-friendly as possible. With the right support, Manipur’s agriculture sector can continue to flourish, ensuring food security and economic prosperity for generations to come.
Agriculture loans are not just about financial assistance; they are about empowering farmers to achieve success, build resilience, and contribute to the growth of Manipur’s rural economy. Whether through government initiatives, bank loans, or cooperative schemes, the best agriculture loan services in Manipur play a crucial role in shaping the future of the state’s agriculture.
