I’m currently eating chocolate pudding mix and whipped cream mix (both in powder form) with a bit of powdered vanilla to simulate drink a good mug of hot cocoa. best brownies in the known universe (at least, according to my grandma)
some year and a half ago when i was getting ready to move out i combed through all the family recipes that lay lost to time and one of the ones that i found was my grandmas brownie recipe. idk where she got it from (nor can i ask cause she has dementia) and its a printed out email she sent to my mom in june 2000. but by george these the best brownies i have ever tasted. would she be pleased that i am sharing this recipe with my vast following? absolutely.
YOU WILL NEED:
5 tablespoons butter (unsalted) 1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate (or as much as your heart desires) 2/3 cup unsweetened good cocoa powder 1 cup sugar (white) (superfine preferred, normal works fine) 1 cup sifted white flour (can use gluten free) 1/2 teaspoon baking powder as much cinnamon as your heart desires (your heart needs to desire at least some cinnamon. its essential to the recipe) 3 egg whites 1 egg splash of vanilla extract (again, non negotiable step!)
preheat your oven to 325 degrees. grease a square baking pan (9x9 preferably).
in a small saucepan over medium heat melt the butter and baking chocolate. while that is melting, sift together the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a small bowl. once the butter and chocolate is done melting add the cocoa powder and cook it together for 1 minute. add in the sugar and stir. it will get very thick. this is correct.
set that aside to cool. while thats cooling take a large bowl and put in your egg whites, egg and vanilla. beat it up with preferably a whisk but you can use a fork if youre fresh out of whisks. once the chocolate is cool enough to not scramble your eggs dump it in the eggs and mix it together. add the flour in gradually and keep mixing until its smooth and happy.
spread into your greased baking pan. put it in the oven for EXACLTLY 18 MINUTES. very crucial step. they will come out slightly under done. that is what we want. as they cool they will continue to cook in the pan. we dont want them to get hard and sad. they are not good when they are hard and sad. do not overbake them. you will be sad.
slice them up and as the official last step on the original recipe says: EAT ENJOY AND MAKE MORE! (theyre very good with mint chocolate chip ice cream)

5 of my favorite drink recipes for regressors ☆´ˎ˗ ︶︶︶
As someone who generally prefers non-solid food, I often find myself making drinks for my regressed self because they bring me a very unique kind of comfort.
So here's a small (likely the first of many) compilation of recipes that I usually make for myself when regressed!
🍓 Yogurt Smoothie🍓
This one is the simplest of them all, and one I make pretty often! Though I don't think I'm the only one who does this, I came up with the recipe myself!
Ingredients: 100g or 3,5oz of a yogurt of your choice; 2/3s of a cup of milk Method: Blend them together until it's all creamy and foamy Servings: 1 cup
🍎 Apple and Banana Smoothie 🍎
My mom used to make this for me when I was a kid! Has a porridge-like texture.
Ingredients: 2 slices of apple; 2 slices of banana; a cup of milk; a tablespoon of oatmeal; a teaspoon of sugar Method: Blend it all together and serve! Servings: around 1 1/2 cups
🍋 Swiss Lemonade 🍋
Funnily enough, the "swiss lemonade" is neither swiss nor a lemonade. I'm unsure if anyone here is familiar with this one, but for me it's the best creamy drink for a sunny afternoon
Ingredients: 2 whole limes, 600ml or 20oz of cold water, a can (395ml or 13,5oz) of condensed milk Method: cut the limes in 8 pieces, without removing the peel, blend all ingredients for less than 10 seconds (blending for too long might make the drink bitter!). Strain through a fine strainer to remove rinds and serve. Servings: around 3 cups
🍼 Burnt Milk 🍼
Another one my mom used to make for me before bed, she says it's good for sore throats. Has a unique burnt/caramelized taste.
Ingredients: 1 cup of milk; 2 teaspoons of sugar; a pinch of cinnamon (or a cinnamon stick) Method: Pour the sugar on a small saucepan, cook and stir on medium. Right when the sugar starts caramelizing (burning) add the milk and stir in. Serve and sprinkle the cinnamon on your drink! Cinnamon is also good for sore throats Servings: 1 cup
🍫 Hot Chocolate 🍫
Classic? Mayhaps. But this recipe has a little special ingredient that gives it a thicker texture
Ingredients: 1 cup of milk; 3-4 tablespoons of cocoa mix powder; 2 tablespoons of corn starch (the more you add the thicker the drink's texture); a pinch of cinnamon Method: pour the milk, cocoa and corn starch on a small saucepan, cook and stir on medium until hot. Serve and sprinkle the cinnamon Servings: 1 cup

A philosopher once said that a gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected with trials. If that was the case, these past few weeks can be viewed as the trial of your and your boyfriend’s lifetime. With him being wrongfully arrested for murder and with you attempting your best to be a stable pillar for him and his mother to lean on.
With tears brimming in your eyes, that was how you found yourself elbow deep trying to bake chocolate muffins at three am in the morning, hoping to chase the nightmares away. It had been a routine almost—pitifully sleeping for only a few hours, waking up before dawn breaks, baking or cooking depending on your feeling, putting a smile on your face, getting ready for work, going to the office, coming back home, and repeating again. And again. And again and again.
Routines that once brought you comfort, now seemed to be the only barrier keeping away well-deserved nervous breakdown. Your hands begged for a distraction and your mind whirled, wanting to help find a solution to this trial. An act that you have no say on. The rest of the team was doing their best, you trusted them, but being a civilian did not make you privy to the ins and outs and red tape that came with Spencer’s arrest. All you knew was there was a female serial killer hyper-fixated on your boyfriend—and in extension, you and his mother.
The cocoa powder was missing. The cocoa powder that you knew you shelved away before catastrophe struck. The most important ingredient nowhere to be found. You sighed, aggressively wiping away errant tears. This, this might be the breaking point that would send you to a spiral—a breakdown caused by cocoa powder. A giggle escaped your chapped lips. There could be worst triggers, really.
You steeled yourself for another search that would no doubt end up with a failure. Maybe Spencer moved it? Maye he moved it out of your reach? You tilted your head to the side, loose strands falling out of your bun. Maybe it was up high on the cupboard?
Looking back, The idea made no sense but in that moment when lack of sleep and terrors plagued the crevices of your mind, you found yourself scaling up to your knees onto the kitchen counter—no doubts or second guessing.
You stretched out your fingers, further motivated when the tips felt a foreign object just within your reach. A triumphant sigh escaping your lips when the item was finally wiggled within your palm. The very same sigh that turned into a sharp intake of breath as the warm kitchen light gave away the mystery.
A black velvet box. A ring size velvet box.
“Oh my god,” you repeated under your breath. “Oh my god.”
The temptation to sneak a peek was overwhelming, to know if your hunch was correct. A peek wouldn’t hurt anybody, would it? No, it wouldn’t but this wasn’t how you wanted to find out about his intentions. Pretty sure this also wasn’t how he planned to ask. Clambering back up the counter, you pushed it back to where it was found—wanting to save your reaction for his eyes to see and for his lithe fingers to slide the ring into yours.
Out of sight, out of mind as they would often say. So there must be some truth to it, right?

Wrong. The box never left your mind. In fact, it had created it’s own quarters within your brain—whispering temptations for just a small glimpse. It was all too much, really. The stress, anticipation, and secrecy made you spoil it for Spencer, an act that you’re not at all proud of.
“It’s a yes,” you blurted out as you sat down for a visit.
He raked through his unkept curly hair. “Yes? Yes to what, sweetheart?”
“I love you. Don’t be mad.”
“Now, why would I be mad?” his voice coated with sweetness, coaxing the truth out. You never did have the will to deny him anything.
“Top most shelf on the left kitchen cupboard.”
His body stiffened before slouching into his seat. A breathy laugh escaping him. “You saw?”
You nodded.
“And after all this, that’s still your answer?”
“Yes.”
A smile broke through. The type of smile that showed warmth in his hazel eyes and the same type that had your heart melting like a puddle of goo.
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too, Spence, till death do us part.”

I’ve decided to stop gatekeeping the best brownie recipe I’ve ever made
Ingredients:
1/2 cup melted butter (make sure it’s HOT) I use salted butter and don’t add any salt later
1 tablespoon oil (I use olive oil) This is what makes the FUDGY
1 1/8 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs (fresh eggs make this better tbh)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder (I use Hershey’s)
if using unsalted butter add 1/4 teaspoons salt
Recipe:
preheat oven to 350° F
grease/ line 8 inch cooking pan and set aside
combine oil, sugar, and butter, whisk well for about a minute (I do everything by hand bc I don’t have a stand mixer or anything)
add eggs and vanilla and beat until lighter in color, about a minute
add flour and cocoa powder (and salt), at this point you wanna switch to a spatula to mix these until they are just BARELY combined
pour into your pan, smooth out the top, and COVER the top in chocolate chips (and/or nuts)
bake for 20-25 minutes (I usually bake mine for 21:30) they are done when the center of the pan DOESNT jiggle
allow them to cool to room temperature before slicing (I’m very bad at this part bc I get impatient )
if you cut the too early and they seem super like doughy (?) it’s fine they will harden a little bit as they cool

Nanami makes the best hot chocolate. He boils milk over the stove, uses good quality cocoa powder, breaks your favorite chocolate bar into it, then whisks it until it's super smooth, adding a dash of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla at the end. He takes his time making it, knowing that it's one of your favorite drinks to consume this time of year.
He pours it into your favorite mug with a dollop of fresh whipped cream. With both his and yours in his grasp, he walks carefully to the couch, setting it down on the coffee table before taking his seat beside you underneath the blanket. You beam at him, wrapping your chilly hands around the ceramic, indulging in the delightful heat. You toast each other before taking a sip, both of you giggling at the other for the frothy mustaches on your upper lips. He licks his off while he wipes yours away with his thumb, eyes crinkling at the adorable sight of you.
"Are you still cold?" he asks, snuggling closer to you, his radiant warmth instantly comforting you.
You rest your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes, enjoying the moment. "Not anymore."
