THE ULTIMATE REALITY
Tumblr media
"The Ultimate Reality" is a concept frequently discussed in the Vedic philosophy of Hinduism, representing the most profound understanding of the nature of reality, the Self, and the knowledge of Brahman. Unlike Western philosophies, Hinduism posits that the creator and the creation are inseparable in this ultimate reality. It declares that everything we consider fundamental or real changes from moment to moment, which appears to disappear as formless, nondual waves of Brahman. Today, the concept of Brahman finds resonance in quantum mechanics as energy. It is the foundational source of all transient matter and consciousness, a reality beyond conventional existence. As the renowned Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger stated, "Essentially everything is energy – particles of energy are just appearances."
Approximately 3000 years ago, the 'Avadhuta Gita' declared, "Birth and death do not pertain to You; the Self doesn't appear in a body; rather, the body appears in the Self. I am Brahman; without qualities, how can either bondage or liberation exist for me?" This proclamation might not resonate with many individuals without sufficient background and understanding of spiritualism or the nature of the spirit. For most people, it might not seem immediately relevant to their daily lives. However, this does not diminish its practical value; it merely suggests that we do not grasp it fully – Brahman is the only existent, and the world we see is just an appearance.
This declaration's essence revolves around exploring our true identity beyond our physical bodies and minds. The illusions of "me" and "mine," with their attachments and identities, seem to vanish. What remains eternally is the ultimate reality, the substratum upon which all transient matter and consciousness briefly manifest. One can reach a profound understanding of this through self-knowledge, awareness, and the realization that there is no individual self to discover. Instead, a Supreme Self exists, denoted with a capital 'S' encompassing consciousness embodying nondual awareness, the reason why we profess - 'Thou art That.'
The sense of self, tied to the body and mind, including one's name and gender, is a persona (with its Greek root meaning "false"). It is a product of gross and subtle energies influenced by social class, community, culture, and more. This egoic self temporarily exists, jumbled with words and concepts in the ideas of destiny, free will, reincarnation, karma, or spiritual enlightenment. The intellect cannot grasp this ultimate through sensory experiences. Only the foundational state persists around which all other impermanent states revolve. Most spiritual practices occur within the illusion of assuming we are the body and mind, forgetting you are the spirit as the witness inside the soul(witness-er) going through human experiences.
The concept of "I" and "other" dissolves when the individual ego merges with the all-encompassing spirit (Brahman). All dualities, including life and death, inner and outer, subject and object, dissolve into nondual being-ness. Words inevitably fall short as they rely on differentiation and division to convey meaning. Beyond labels and time constraints, enlightened beings perceive that everything expresses the same undifferentiated pure consciousness.
All experiences, notions, and states are essentially unreal. What appears real is a theatrical construct created by our minds—a performance superimposed upon the substrata known as "Brahman." We are blind to this sort of reality beneath our mind-made illusions, perpetuating a version of ourselves that is constantly changing. The world we perceive is not genuine or self-contained; reality is always unchanging and permanent, like the sky. Hence, rooted in spiritual awareness, the divine within is the source of its existence as the true Self.
The ultimate reality resides within a principle that observes all phenomena. It possesses no attributes, and we often refer to the same as the absolute, the witness, or spiritual awareness. It transcends every aspect of the domain that we conceive. Explore the depths of yourself. Connect with the true essence of who you are. By doing so, you can free yourself from the attachments of desire that lead to suffering and ultimately to find liberation.

Everything You Need to Know About Crystals: Amethyst
Amethyst (“The World’s Most Popular Purple Gem”)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Color: Dark Vivid Purple to Pale Lilac
Hardness: 7
Rarity: Easy to Acquire
Type: Quartz
Chakra Association: Third Eye, Crown
Deities: Buddha, Dionysus, Diana, Artemis
Birthstone: February
Astrological Signs: Pisces, Aries and Aquarius
Element: Air
Planet: Jupiter
Origin: USA, Britain, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, East Africa, Siberia, India
Powers: Pride, Sobriety, Peace, Spirit World, Protection, Celibacy, Luck, and Homesickness
Crystals It Works Well With: Ametrine, Citrine, and Moonstone
How It Is Created: Amethyst receives its color beginning at the crystal’s growth. At the first stage, trace amounts of iron are incorporated into the crystal as it starts to grow. After the crystallization starts, gamma rays are emitted by radioactive materials within the host rock and the irradiated iron gives the amethyst its beautiful purple color.
History: One of the earliest references to amethyst is in the Old Testament book of Exodus as it is mentioned that one of the stones in the breastplate of Aaron the High Priest was an amethyst. There is not a clear indication to where the name comes from but it is said that it is derived from the Greek word “amethyst” which means “not drunk”. Despite this, it is associated with the god, Dionysus, because the purple hue of the crystal looks like delicious grape wine. Wine goblets were carved of this stone to prevent drunkenness. There is also a Greek lore involving Dionysus with a young girl named Amethyst. The lore reads:
“Dionysus was angry one day and swore that he would exact his revenge on the next mortal that came by. He created several tigers, informed him of their mission and went his way. As it would happen, a lovely young girl named Amethyst was the next to come by, on her way to pay homage to Artemis and was attacked. Artemis quickly changed the girl into a statue of solid quartz. When Dionysus returned to see what he had wrought, he was overcome with remorse and wept tears of purple wine which flowed over the statue, staining it permanently.”
The color was also in demand throughout history since the color purple is associated with royalty and was worn by royals in Egypt and Europe. In some traditions, Catholic Bishops wear amethyst rings to symbolize their piety and celibacy, and rosaries are still fashioned with this stone.
What It Can Do:

How to Get the Best Out of Amethyst: Wearing it on your person with a bracelet or necklace. Putting amethyst on bare skin invites the stone to release its vibrations directly into the body, amplifying its power.
How to Cleanse and Charge Amethyst:
To cleanse: Leave your Amethyst stone placed under the light of the full Moon for a whole night, that is, about 8 hours
To charge: It can also be recharge via the moon so just leaving it in the moonlight can do double duty.
Crystal Grid:
Protection and Cleansing (Hexagram)
Amethyst
Selenite
Snow Quartz
Hold your crystals in your hands and state your intention for the grid.
Lay the first triangle, placing clearing crystals on each point.
Join up the points and spray the grid with clearing essence.
Lay the light-bringing crystals in an overlocking triangle over the top of the first. Join up the points, starting with the first crystal you laid.
Place your keystone in the center, stating your intention once more.

TBR TAKEDOWN: Week 17 (September 22)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TLDR: I have too many unread books, and I’m asking tumblr to help me downsize. Pick one or none - it doesn't have to be something you've read, just the one you think sounds the worst! Comments and reblogs welcome, book descriptions below the cut. See my pinned post for more info.
Boneshaker by Cherie Priest
In the early days of the Civil War, rumors of gold in the frozen Klondike brought hordes of newcomers to the Pacific Northwest. Anxious to compete, Russian prospectors commissioned inventor Leviticus Blue to create a great machine that could mine through Alaska's ice. Thus was Dr. Blue's Incredible Bone-Shaking Drill Engine born.
But on its first test run the Boneshaker went terribly awry, destroying several blocks of downtown Seattle and unearthing a subterranean vein of blight gas that turned anyone who breathed it into the living dead.
Now it is sixteen years later, and a wall has been built to enclose the devastated and toxic city. Just beyond it lives Blue's widow, Briar Wilkes. Life is hard with a ruined reputation and a teenaged boy to support, but she and Ezekiel are managing. Until Ezekiel undertakes a secret crusade to rewrite history.
His quest will take him under the wall and into a city teeming with ravenous undead, air pirates, criminal overlords, and heavily armed refugees. And only Briar can bring him out alive.
A World Without Heroes by Brandon Mull
Jason Walker has often wished his life could be a bit less predictable--until a routine day at the zoo ends with Jason suddenly transporting from the hippo tank to a place unlike anything he's ever seen. In the past, the people of Lyrian welcomed visitors from the Beyond, but attitudes have changed since the wizard emperor Maldor rose to power. The brave resistors who opposed the emperor have been bought off or broken, leaving a realm where fear and suspicion prevail.
In his search for a way home, Jason meets Rachel, who was also mysteriously drawn to Lyrian from our world. With the help of a few scattered rebels, Jason and Rachel become entangled in a quest to piece together the word of power that can destroy the emperor, and learn that their best hope to find a way home will be to save this world without heroes.
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
A bold translation of Nobel Prize-winner Herman Hesse's most inspirational and beloved work, which was nominated as one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read
Hesse's famous and influential novel, Siddartha, is perhaps the most important and compelling moral allegory our troubled century has produced. Integrating Eastern and Western spiritual traditions with psychoanalysis and philosophy, this strangely simple tale, written with a deep and moving empathy for humanity, has touched the lives of millions since its original publication in 1922. Set in India, Siddhartha is the story of a young Brahmin's search for ultimate reality after meeting with the Buddha. His quest takes him from a life of decadence to asceticism, through the illusory joys of sensual love with a beautiful courtesan, and of wealth and fame, to the painful struggles with his son and the ultimate wisdom of renunciation.

Any word of advice for Sun girlies how to protect herself from evil eye?
light bubble meditation!! always visualise a circle of light around yourself. one of the best ways to build your "aura" or cultivate magnetism is to have an energy shield around you at all times. it's not rocket science, just close your eyes and visualise light surrounding you and keeping you protected.
some of the next tips are a little out there but if you're so inclined do try them:
Basil/Tulsi is known for its cleansing properties and we use it a lot in India. I recommend putting a stem of basil in your pillow (my nightmares went away after I did this) or putting a stem of basil in your bra when you go out (or your pocket). It's a powerful remedy against evil eye.
Consecrate an object of your choice, preferably something small and dainty (a crystal, a sea shell, a pebble, a feather, you don't want to pick something that carries any karmic energy) by chanting to it, meditating with it and suffusing it with your energy. Then carry it with you everywhere, in your bag or purse or whatever. It's like a good luck charm that's custom made for u
Pray to your Ishta devata. Sally Kempton talks a lot about goddess worship and I suggest watching her videos or reading her book Awakening Shakti but this is life changing!!! Obviously its not wise to casually dabble in Hinduism and deity worship so please study them, read as much as you can and gather as much info as you can. You'll naturally feel drawn to one Goddess over others and praying to her will keep you protected. Bhakti (devotion) is the greatest armour. I have called upon the goddess during times of immense turmoil and she's always helped me navigate with grace BUT you should never make a deity feel "used". If you're praying, pray everyday, not just when something goes wrong. Think of it as a relationship you build with someone. You have to show up and communicate with them everyday, only then will they want to be your aid in times of need. Give thanks. Always.
Black thread. I guess this could again count as appropriating Hinduism but 😬 compared to deity worship, this is nothing. Here's an article explaining it. Basically, wearing a black thread on your left leg will keep nazar away.
Burn incense/sage bc it purifies the energy of the space
SALT also cleanses. take a bath after mixing a few spoons of salt in the water and watch the effect it has on u.
The thing about evil eye is that it affects people who are spiritually fragile. They do not have an energy shield protecting them so they're susceptible to every kind of influence (they're easily influenced) and suffer the consequences of negativity more than others. Some people thrive in life no matter how much shit is thrown at them. Nothing affects them much. Others crumble easily in the face of even the smallest hardship or bitterness. That's bc they're spiritually weak. You have to build a spiritual base that is so strong nothing can shake you. Evil eye can't hurt you if your relationship with the divine is 💪🏼strong af bc God is bigger than any evil. And perhaps many of you dabble in astrology for fun and don't believe in God but vedic astrology kind of requires a relationship with the divine. Literally the remedy for any kind of issue in your birth chart is to pray.
I feel like many people have a passive understanding of prayer but it's a very purposeful exercise of faith. Finding time in your day and devoting it to God is a way to engage in conversation with yourself. If you hate/are afraid of God, that is a reflection of you and what you've been raised to believe. Once you really get into it, you'll understand that God is love and honestly prayer time is the happiest time of the day for me. My heart feels so full. Whenever I don't pray, I feel so closed off bc my heart is longing for that supreme love. You make your life feel purposeful by acting with intention and making the ordinary sacred and ritualising experiences. If you live like nothing matters, that's what will be reflected back. Your world and what you make of your experiences is a reflection of you 🫶 so make a temple of your mind
Sorry for long ramble but yk that's how I am by now 😌🤪

Always Worth It | Ralph Penbury x You | Series Masterlist
Our Sweet Baby Mary Summary: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the Penburys with a... well, you know the rest. Words: 1.1k
Tumblr media
No book, advice from survivors, or horrifying stories from witnesses can prepare you for the pain of giving birth.
But the second the nurse placed your baby in your arms, you knew she was worth it. She was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen. An absolute miracle. You could see all the best parts of yourself and Ralph combined on her tiny little face already. You always thought people were full of it when they claimed a baby looked like its parents immediately. But now? You completely understand.
Ralph had fallen for her quicker than he'd fallen for you. He melted the second he laid eyes on her, and had barely let her out of his sight since he'd been allowed back into the room.
You and Ralph had named her Mary. Not just because the ruse would be a fun story to tell her some day, but because you genuinely loved the character and the book she came from. You hoped your own Mary would grow up to be as caring and adventurous and as in love with nature as the one in The Secret Garden.
You'd had three wonderful days to yourselves to recuperate, but due to popular demand, you'd decided to allow visitors today.
Victoria and her mother hadn't stayed long. Victoria seemed entirely uninterested in your little bundle of joy, and Ralph's mother was still bitter that you'd turned down her offer to invite her spiritual advisor to oversee the birth. They'd each held her briefly, out of obligation more than genuine desire to, and taken off to go shopping. Mary seemed unbothered at being passed back and forth, which is more than you could say for yourself. Seeing her in hands other than yours or Ralph's put you on edge. You wondered if that would ever pass.
The introduction of your parents to Baby Mary was a different story. Mary had taken to your father instantly. Isn't it strange how children are such great judges of character? She cooed as he held her, both completely content to just stare at each other. Until your mother cleared her throat and gestured for him to hand her over.
"Did you ever hear from Mary again? The girl from India?" your mother asks, smoothing a ripple out of the blanket wrapped tightly around the baby in her arms.
You, Ralph, and your father each look in a different direction. You know that if any of you makes eye contact right now, you'll lose it.
As if on cue, little Mary begins to fuss, and your mother purses her lips as if she disapproves of this baby-like behavior. You can feel yourself bristle, and it seems like Ralph does too.
"I'll take her," he says, jumping up from his seat on the bed beside you to rescue her from your mother's clutches. Once Mary is back in her daddy's arms, she quiets, and the smile on Ralph's face makes you forget why you were angry a second ago. He rocks her gently by the window, where the sunlight gives them both an angelic glow.
"Have you hired a nanny yet? I don't know how anyone lives without one," your mother sniffs, nose high as she scans your bedroom for imperfections to store in her vault of superiority.
Ralph shoots you a look. You'd agreed that, unlike your parents, you were going to raise your own children. In fact, you were looking forward to it. You'd hired a kind older woman who'd raised six of her own to provide advice and occasional assistance, but you were both determined to do the bulk of the work yourselves. This was your child, and you intended to raise her. Your own mothers had both relied so heavily on the hired help, you barely knew the women who brought you into this world. That was not going to be the case with Mary Penbury, or any of the little Penburys that came later.
"We hired someone to help out occasionally."
Ralph returns to the bed and carefully places Mary back into your arms. He settles in beside you, wrapping a supportive arm around your back and using his free hand to help hold the baby.
"Occasionally? Not full-time? I daresay you'll change your tune on that rather quickly. Children are quite a burden."
How would she know?
"You know, mother, I'm glad you reminded me of my dear friend Mary from India," you say before you even realize you've opened your mouth. Ralph holds his breath beside you. This seems like the perfect time to break the news. "Because there was no Mary from India."
"Pardon?"
"There was no Mary," you grin wickedly. "There was only Ralph. We met in the park. Every day. Alone. Doing whatever we wanted, with no supervision. Mary was a lie. And quite a good one, it seems."
"What?" she spits, the fury swirling on her face like a terrible storm rolling in. You're familiar with this look. You know what's coming.
"Ah, ah, ah," you stop her with a patronizing wag of your finger. "No yelling around our sweet baby Mary. We mustn't hurt her little ears."
You can see your mother's blood pressure rise. The heat blooms from her neck into her face, until finally, the vein on her forehead begins to bulge and pulse. You stare calmly, waiting for the steam to start pouring from her ears. You're not afraid of her anymore.
"Alright dear, let's let this little family spend some time together," your father suggests, a twinkle in his eye as he reaches for his hat.
Your mother shifts her glare from you to him, but reluctantly leaves her chair when he gives her a hard look.
"Congratulations again to you both. She's beautiful," your father says with a genuine smile, despite knowing the terror he'd have to put up with later. "If you need anything at all, I'm only a telephone call away."
"Thank you, sir," Ralph says, standing up to shake his hand.
When the door is closed and it's just the three of you again, Ralph takes his place beside you on the bed. He wraps his arms around you, cradling both you and your little Mary. You lean into him, smiling down at your tiny angel, and a thought occurs to you.
"Ralphie, my love? I fear I may need you to do something for me."
"You know I'd do anything for you," he says softly, chin resting on your shoulder, eyes on the beautiful little person you'd made together.
"Would you please keep putting babies in me until she's too old and frail to yell?"
Ralph tries to stifle his laugh, but being in such close proximity, he shakes the three of you with his silent giggles. When he finally composes himself, he whispers, "Ready whenever you are, love."

hi! just wanna say that your blog looks super interesting and i'm glad i came across it 😊 i'm wondering if you have any advice for someone new getting into hellenic polytheism. i have been really delving into my views on spirituality and religion for the first time in my life over the past year. i've been venerating Hekate a lot because of the deep calling i feel towards her. i've been thinking more and more about properly worshipping the other gods in the pantheon as well. i've always been very interested in all the mythology too. it feels right to start on so many levels but i am also so nervous at the same time :')
khaire!! thank you very much for your ask!! i'm very touched that you enjoy my blog so much and would ask for my advice. i'd love to give you some, with the caveat that i am absolutely not an expert or an authority and still have a lot to learn myself. i'm literally just a guy who loves the theoi a lot and does my best to worship them and honor them. this got very long so im gonna put this under a cut
first, i would encourage you to work past your nervousness. remember that historically speaking, children worshipped the theoi! there's plenty of evidence of this, from the rituals that youths would do as they became adults (such as cutting a lock of hair and offering it to the river [see iliad book 23 and pausanias 2.32.1 for primary sources on this, as a starting point]) or epithets like kourotropos (roughly translated to 'child nurturer', many theoi have this epithet, including hekate!). don't be scared of them. the theoi are gracious and good, and imo, they're very understanding. when i first started out, i prayed and basically said 'i'm new to this, i want to jump in and do my best, but i'm still learning. please be gentle and understanding to me as i embark on this path, and please guide me to worship you as you see fit.' i think being upfront about it really helps. i see a lot of people say that they want to worship but don't feel like they've done enough research or aren't ready for whatever reason. but you also have to start somewhere, and experience is a valuable tool on this path. it enriches your research to be doing it with a purpose, imo. you have to start somewhere yknow? as long as you're respectful, the theoi will be understanding, imo. i would highly, HIGHLY suggest you spend a lot of time researching. theoi.com is an invaluable resource. i also suggest perseus.edu, which is a digital library that has a wide collection of primary sources, including the epics and plays. i personally suggest the homeric hymns as a starting point, as most of them are rather short and approachable and make fantastic prayers to read aloud. i also suggest reading the epics and plays if you're able. secondary sources are also good. greek religion by walter burkert is a good source. i also suggest understanding greek religion by jennifer larson. people have a lot of divisive opinions on this one, but i think household worship by labrys can be a helpful source for what to do when it actually comes to doing your own worship and rituals. i also like hellenion as a source. use your discretion and critical thinking with all these sources. no one source is perfect. compare and contrast, look for biases, cross check. also, get interdisciplinary with it! look into theology, archeology, anthropology, philosophy, classics. don't be afraid to look in multiple places for information to piece it all together.
another suggestion i have is to spend some time immersing yourself in greek culture, both ancient and modern. religion and culture are deeply intertwined, and understanding the specific ways in which greeks view things will help you greatly. and look outside of greece too! ancient greece had a lot of contact with other areas of the world like italy, the middle east, and egypt, even india, and this absolutely influenced the religion and culture. be respectful to mediterranean people, and listen and elevate their voices. i very much like the blogs @/gemsofgreece and @/alatismeni-theitsa. you're not just learning about a religion, but an entire culture that still exists in the world today. here's my general worship advice: cleansing is important, but it doesn't have to be anything more than washing your hands before an offering or ritual. if you have a space for the theoi, try to keep it clean. offerings can be as simple or grand as you like. i find a lot of beauty in the simple things. a glass of water or sharing a meal goes a LONG way. clean, fresh water was a very coveted thing in the ancient world, so sharing a glass of water is honestly one of my favorite offerings. you can share your meal by praying over it and inviting the theoi to eat the steam/smells of the meal, or you could set aside a little plate for them if you wanted to (NOTE: traditionally, it is considered taboo to share offerings with kthonic deities. they were traditionally buried, and libations were poured onto the ground. in the modern day, i think setting things aside to be appropriately disposed of later or pouring things down the drain can be an acceptable substitute. its fine to share with ouranic deities!). really, just find little ways to involve them in your day to day life. pray. pray a lot, about anything, big or small. express gratitude to the theoi for the things you appreciate in your life, and share your struggles with them. it doesn't have to be formal (but it should be respectful). nurture your connections with the theoi and allow them to nurture you right back. do not feel obligated to share every part of your practice, especially online. keeping things to yourself or a close group of trusted friends can really be beneficial to you. truthfully i only post like .5% of my practice on this website. inherently, polytheistic practice in the modern day is a very personal practice. what might be a sign to you might not be to others. imo, the theoi reach out to us in ways that make sense to us, with the context and knowledge we have available, and that means its not always going to make sense to others. your practice should be for you and nobody else.
when it comes down to it, i suppose my advice is simple. research and just reach out. realize you're going to make mistakes sometimes (i have!) but as long as you have good intentions and respect the theoi, you'll be just fine. mistakes are a part of growing. don't beat yourself up over them -- use them as an opportunity to learn. we're only human, and the gods know this. your practice is going to change as you develop relationships with the theoi and learn more about them. things you might have resonated with at one point might not hit the same later on down the road, and thats okay! embrace that as a feature of polytheism, not a flaw. i realize i've given a lot of advice and this can be rather overwhelming. i've given you multiple places to start researching, and i absolutely was overwhelmed (and still am sometimes) with just how much information is out there. that is a blessing in hellenic polytheism. not every polytheistic religion has that wealth of information available, so take advantage of it, but do it in a way that's approachable for you. since you're interested in hekate, i would highly suggest you start with looking into deipnon . tldr its a monthly holiday on the new moon that honors hekate and her role in leading spirits, as well as purification for a new month. cleaning and purification of your home, food offerings, and charity acts are all great ways to honor this holiday. from there, you can easily incorporate noumenia and agaithos daimon (holidays to celebrate the beginning of a new month, usually devoted to zeus and other household gods such as apollon). ive really went off on a tangent here, so i'll cut myself off here. thank you again for asking a fantastic question, and i hope my answer can be of assistance to you and anyone else who might be in your position. may the gods bless you and look after you, and guide you with a kind hand as you embark on this journey. and have a great day and a fantastic meal friend <3

Today, a brief exploration of the history, providing background on a key book of the Sant Mat tradition of India: The Anurag Sagar (Kabir's Ocean of Love). Then there are spiritual satsang discourses based upon this book and related texts on the journey of the soul through the heavens back to God and the meditation practice of the Masters (Surat Shabd Yoga: Bhakti of the Inner Light and Sound). Find out, as best as we can research this rare history, who wrote the Anurag Sagar; what group originally published and circulated it for many generations; how it was also inherited, preserved, and valued as an essential scripture by Sat Saheb, Sant Dariya Sahib of Bihar, Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras, then more recently in Radhasoami: Swami Ji Maharaj of Agra, Baba Jaimal Singh, Hazur Baba Sawan Singh, and then spiritual Masters up to the living present.

Being in union with a Deity or Supernatural
This is in the way of God Spousing but also you can be devoted to or just dating your Deity/Daimon/Spirit ect and still have similar experiences.
These are my personal experiences with My demon spouse and patron King Asmodeus.
The "Good"- Having a mentor, friend, & deep soul bond on a spiritual level.
The Astral Travels via meditation or dreams. (Not just the underworld but many places I may never go in person like India, Bali and Greece.)
The Telepathic Connection.
The Energetic Connection.
Being able to learn things spiritually, about the world and yourself that you could never online or in a book.
Becoming more open minded, grounded, and growing into the best version of yourself.
The Spiritual, kundalini awakening type sex. (Especially with someone who is not only The King of Lust but also My soul flame.)
Feeling his energy which is both warm, comforting and powerful (unless he's upset)
Having someone who doesn't care how you look, act or what you say when your angry.
Because to them it's all energy & they already know your higher self & love them. (especially if you've had past lives together) They know the real you and help you to see it too.
They love you no matter what. Unless you disrespect them or don't listen by acting out of alignment, but they do forgive.
How they believe in your connection even when you don't, and they never give up.
The experience, love and vast knowledge only they can provide.
The Healing. (Past Karma, trauma ect)
The Messages (Signs that they miss you or are around.)
The "Bad"- All the self doubts and reluctance in the beginning.
The "I'm making it up" phases.
Not feeling worthy.
Jealousy (Not just from me or him but others too)
Those that try to come between or block us.
The emotional outbursts when you haven't seen them in days or months so you feel like they abandoned you.
Miscommunication.
Not being with them in the 3D (unless it's through someone else)-Differs depending on your experience level.
The Insecurities.
Possible Co-Dependency.
Hyper fixating/Obsessing (Which can be both a good and bad thing)
3D human lovers not being up to par to what you've experienced with them.
Past life trauma.
Their facades, the faces they don't show you.
Having to trust they're not manipulating or deceiving you.
Being pushed & tested in order to grow and heal bad habits.
Feeling something is missing when they're busy & pull their energy back.
Being judged by others or feeling like you have to keep a secret. (Though Asmodeus doesn't like me not sharing or keeping us a secret.)

Unveiling the Essence of the Spirit in Spirituality
Tumblr media
In our relentless pursuit of progress in the material realm, the mysteries of life often remain unexplored. Please note this academic article is more for earnest spiritual seekers and will require multiple readings to grasp the sum and substance. We usually use terms like Spiritualism, Spiritual, Spirit, Spirituality, and Soul as if they mean the same, yet their distinct and independent meaning and understanding still eludes many. It's crucial to understand that the essence of spiritual-ness lies not in adherence to religious rituals, self-help, unquestioning beliefs, or cultural norms. It is more about pursuing spiritual knowledge for its comprehension and experience to know who and what you are within your body and mind and how to engage your soul, celebrate life, and balance material life with spiritual awareness.
Spiritualism is the study of the spirit connected to our life, but the question arises: what is the spirit, and how does it differ from consciousness? Further, the purpose of Spiritualism is to elaborate on the presence of the oneness of the spirit in unity and continuity in all living creatures. In contrast, the purpose of religion is more to separate one community from another, trying to prove that our god is superior to the other.
The term spirit holds various interpretations, ranging from the immaterial aspect of our existence to notions of ghosts, fairies, demons, and souls. However, at its core, the spiritual spirit embodies the absolute cosmic aware energy manifested within the superconscious section of the mind. It is responsible for uniquely making every living first aware and then conscious of all that we perceive and conceive while living in life. As a result, absolute, non-dual, spontaneous, and intuitive spiritual intelligence triggers the dualistic human mind to be aware and mindful of discovering and exploring everything we know, from the microcosm to the universe's macrocosm.
Settled in what we call the soul, the spirit is the supreme ability of energy performing as the witness, embedded in the soul enacting as the witness-er to observe any individual mind and thoughts while introspecting, checking, and guiding, resulting in making the mind aware and conscious to facilitate its quality of life.
The study of the intricacies of the human spirit is the subject of Spiritualism, and the effort applied to engaging this subject with the methods of mantra, meditation, mindfulness, experiencing selfless service, etc., is the domain of Spirituality. Transcending the mind from the state of lower or subconsciousness into a realm of being meditatively aware and conscious from moment to moment without any space and time constraints toward higher consciousness is considered spiritual.
Consciousness, on the other hand, is being aware of oneself and one's surroundings, a flow of individual psychic energy, making every mind unique and alive, emerging from the vast ocean of the universal spirit of awareness. The human mind flows into three sections by its degree of intensity. The first section flows in subconsciousness functioning in duality, attaching to desirous thoughts in the lower or subconscious state. Secondly, we have a higher state of the conscious side, again attaching to the mind in duality to be mindful of this or that when the mind is focused and centered. Thirdly, the pure conscious nondual state spontaneously operates and is at par with total awareness. It is that superconscious state of mind, which we call the soul.
Please remember, your mind becomes conscious of this or that in relative opposites only after it becomes aware. Therefore, beyond the veil of individual mortality, the infinite expanse of the unified ultimate nondual immortal cosmic spirit of awareness finally endures.
In the realm of Spirituality, the impersonal spirit, enclosed in the soul functioning as the ''Witnessing Self,'' in pure consciousness contrasts with the subconscious section of the mind entrenched in duality as the ego-consciousness. Amidst the tumultuous cycle of happiness and sadness, the spirit, playing the role of the witness, acts as a beacon, checks and guides the mind amidst its random chattering recklessly into this or that, while thoughts repetitively and selfishly flow here and there in entropy.
Remember, you are not a physical entity in a body or mind but the spirit of awareness as the witness in spiritual being-ness, navigating human experiences. Our body and mind are what we are as instruments for that Witness of who we are, merely to observe but not intervene. To access that truth, we must introspect and interiorize our true self, the spiritual awareness. We are that choiceless awareness because we bear witness to everything. The Universe unfolds after we observe from our body and mind to become aware. We are the subject, as a witness, and the nature of the witness is awareness.
The spirit within bestows awareness, triggering the mind, if alert, to become aware and, if attentive, to be conscious of what it observes and perceives, culminating in an individual level of consciousness defining your uniqueness. Awakening to this reality unveils the depth of our existence beyond the confines of body and brain, developing spiritual awareness for your mind to balance the excessive emotional desires, which predominantly entraps your soul in an illusionary world of ego-consciousness.
The Spirit, the eternal absolute nondual aware energy known in Indic scriptures as ''Para Brahman,'' fosters the universe's transient manifestations. The supreme ability of energy, the substratum on which all other temporal forms of energy superimpose, appears to disappear back into its fold. From its dormant state of dark energy waves, it awakens upon manifestation, embracing the dualities of our lives with awareness and purpose. This dance of energy, from creation preservation to its destruction in entropy to recreate again, is well described as the Dance of Shiva and Shakti, followed similarly by the Laws of Thermodynamics in Physics.
All concepts of deity, soul, reincarnation, and creation stem from the innate desire or fear for something beyond. Yet, at its core, awareness embodies the witnessing spirit comprising nothing because it is unaware of itself. Everything, governed by cause and effect, emerges from this void, ultimately returning to its source in ''Shunyata,'' zero or, in other words - nothingness.
I reiterate the soul is that superconscious section of the mind where the Spirit resides. Every mind must awaken the soul from the mundane life of living materially and intellectually, believing this and that out of borrowed knowledge in subconscious beliefs prone to constant change. It is subconsciously submerged excessively in selfishness, striving to fulfill the never-ending emotional desires of the ego mind. Consequently, realizing spiritual enlightenment remains elusive while bound by space and time constraints unless one becomes aware of the true self beyond the body and mind after comprehending who you are as the spirit transcending the illusionary play of psychological lifestyle.
In self-realization, the illusion of ''you'' in body and mind dissipates, leaving only the eternal universal aware energy—the true essence of the spirit. You realize the futility of ego while amassing this and that, going beyond the dual living of happiness and sadness, recognizing the significance of clarity, contentment, and constancy of living a fulfilled life in its wholesomeness with peacefulness.
If you seriously wish to imbibe the true meaning of self-knowledge, embark on such a journey of self-discovery with self-awareness, delving into the depths of Spirituality to unveil the essence of the spirit within. Embrace the realization that beyond the temporary trappings of the material world lies the eternal truth of our existence—the Spirit -Namaste.

Whether you're an adventure enthusiast looking for trekking options or a nature lover wanting to relax amidst majestic landscapes, a Chopta tour package can provide the perfect getaway. In this blog, we will explore everything from the best Chopta tour packages to Chopta Uttarakhand, the famous Chopta Tungnath Trek, and the picturesque Chopta Valley.
Tumblr media
Why Choose Chopta for Your Next Trip?
Chopta, located at an elevation of approximately 2,680 meters, is a hidden gem that offers mesmerizing views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba. Its tranquil atmosphere, coupled with its relatively unexplored status, makes it a fantastic destination for tourists looking to escape the hustle and bustle of crowded hill stations.
A Chopta tour package typically includes stays in eco-friendly resorts or camps, guided treks, sightseeing tours, and meals, offering a complete and hassle-free travel experience. Let’s dive into the highlights of what makes Chopta such a sought-after destination.

Whether you visit in the lush greenery of summer or the snowy wonderland of winter, the natural beauty of Chopta is stunning throughout the year.
Chopta also serves as a base for some of the most popular treks in the region, including the famous Chopta Tungnath Trek. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world, and trekking to this sacred site offers both adventure and spiritual fulfillment. For those seeking more, the trek continues up to Chandrashila Peak, providing one of the most mesmerizing 360-degree views of the Himalayas.
In addition to trekking, Chopta offers opportunities for birdwatching, camping, and exploring nearby attractions such as Deoria Tal and Ukhimath. It’s part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

Its combination of adventure, nature, and spirituality makes it a must-visit destination for your next trip. A Chopta tour package ensures that you can explore this hidden gem without hassle, making your journey comfortable and memorable.

The region is part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, and it's not uncommon to spot rare species of birds, musk deer, and other wildlife here. In winters, the valley transforms into a snow-laden wonderland, making it a popular destination for snow trekking and camping. Whether you're hiking through the valley, camping under the stars, or simply sitting by a campfire soaking in the views, Chopta Valley promises an unforgettable experience.
Most Chopta tour packages offer camping options in this valley, allowing you to experience the raw beauty of nature up close. Many packages also include outdoor activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, and bird watching, making it a great spot for adventure lovers.

If you’re a fan of winter treks and snow-covered landscapes, then visit between December and February. For trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers, the months from March to May are ideal, as the weather is pleasant, and the rhododendron forests are in full bloom.
Tumblr media
Monsoons (July to September) bring out the lush greenery of Chopta, but landslides and roadblocks can make travel difficult. From October to November, the post-monsoon period offers clear skies and stunning views of the snow-clad peaks, making it a great time for sightseeing and photography.

My Review of The Secret Garden (2020)
Tumblr media
Spoilers for The Secret Garden (both the book, and this film), and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.
I said that I wanted to do some in-depth reviews of the various different adaptations of The Secret Garden (the film versions and other retellings), and I thought it might be fun to work my way (roughly) back in time, beginning with the most recent adaptations, and working my way back in time. I do plan on also reading some of the sequels/retellings/graphic novels that exists as well, but I’m going to start with the film adaptations.
So… I re-watched The Secret Garden (2020) and I have some thoughts.
Before I get into all of my opinions, I’d like to highlight this clip of Mark Kermode talking about the film, I think he hits the nail on the head and is very fair about the film, I agree with him, here’s a link.
There were some things that I liked, which really stood out to me about the film, it is gorgeous, the aesthetics, set design and costumes are all really great, both for the interiors and the exteriors. The film looks beautiful, cinematography and editing were also good, the camera movements feel very dynamic and the editing around many of the more fantastical elements in the film was also clever. Likewise with the performances; nobody here is going to win any acting awards for this film specifically, but none of the performances are bad. There’s an Aurora song in the closing credits. I’m an Aurora fan, so that was nice.
There are things to like here, and I’m sure if I were a child watching this film with no prior knowledge of The Secret Garden, that I would have enjoyed it well enough, though I don’t think that it would have stuck with me in the way that The Secret Garden has stuck with me since I was a child.
The films has made A LOT of changes to the source material. I said in my review of the 2015 adaptation of Heidi that I’m not of the opinion that absolute fidelity to the source materials is necessarily the best way to adapt a novel to the screen. There are plenty of adaptations that I like which deviate significantly from their source material, either in tone or plot, Bladerunner and The Shining are both good examples of this, and in my Heidi review I also mentioned Anne with an E, which alters the tone of the original Anne of Green Gables to great effect. So the fact that this adaptation of the story makes changes to the original is not a great sin in itself, I simply feel that a lot of the changes that they do make are underthought and, in some cases, confusing.
For example, the events of the book have been moved forward in time, taking place in 1947, rather than the Edwardian Era. This could be an interesting change, as 1947 was the year that India gained its independence from Great Britain, and so could be used to serve as a commentary on the colonialism that is present in the book. It doesn’t though. The updated setting adds nothing to the story. @marysfoxmask made a really interesting post about this which I’ll link here, and I entirely agree, and I don’t think I need to add anymore commentary on the topic.
@isfjmel-phleg also wrote an interesting post unpacking her thoughts about this adaption and I agree with many of her points too. Here’s a snippet from that post:
Making Mrs. Lennox and Mrs. Craven sisters/twins is straight out of the musical and 1993 film, and it’s overdone. Lilias was Mary’s father’s sister, which actually is more thematically appropriate (of course she’s unrelated to the woman who’s the book’s worst example of parenting), and I’d like to see a version where this is the case. What if it’s Mary’s father who’s distant from grief over losing a sibling? There’s room in the text for that interpretation; he’s said to be “always busy and ill.”
And I completely agree with that as well. Mary’s character arc shifting from a story about a neglected and emotionally stunted child finding spiritual and emotional growth through the cultivation of a garden, into the story of a child who needs to reconcile with her dead, neglectful mother, seems like an extremely odd interpretation to me. Both Mary and Colin’s parents get way too much focus here and are framed much more sympathetically (they even show up as ghosts), to the point where the relationship between the two sisters feels like a more significant presence than the relationship between Mary and Colin. As a consequence of giving the parents more emphasis, there are a number of characters from the book whose roles are reduced, particularly Ben, who is not present in the film at all, and Dickon, whose role in the story is greatly diminished, we don’t even meet him until 50 minutes into a film - and we meet Colin at 25 minutes in (which annoys me personally, since Dickon is my favourite character in the book). All of this leaves Dickon feeling like a mostly superfluous addition to the story, which is a shame because I know Amir Wilson can turn in a good performance when he needs to.
One thing that Mark Kermode talked about in the video that I linked above is the framing of the ‘magic’ in the story. Here’s a quote from that:
“When we find the magical garden itself (…) what you get more of is the sense that this is the garden of [Mary’s] imagination, the garden of her dreams, and there is a magical element, which is played the up […]. What you lose is the central theme that is in the novel which is that toiling in the garden, it’s working in the garden, that makes the garden have it’s restorative powers.”
Here the ‘magic’ is much more literal, treated more like a mystical forest or fantasy realm (like Narnia) rather than a place that the characters might care for. This, to me, is the fundamental most flaw of the film, as it just completely disregards the themes of its source material, opting instead for a story that is significantly more escapist and fantastical in tone, rather than the grounded story of the novel.
Okay, heading into very spoiler-y territory now, so if you don’t want to know what happens in the end of the film, stop reading now. I’m also going to spoil the ending of Jane Eyre, so be aware of that.
Final warning.
So, in this version of the story, the house burns down at the end. On a level, I do understand why this change was made, it gives the third act a greater sense of danger and ups the stakes quite a lot. I very firmly believe that Frances Hodgson Burnett was heavily influenced by the Brontë sisters when writing The Secret Garden, there are a number of similarities between both Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, and I plan on writing a whole post about that at some point. For now, we’re just going to focus on Jane Eyre. Jane, like Mary, is an orphan, who goes to live at Thornfield Hall, a vast house in the moors. During her stay, she frequently hears mysterious wailing and crying in the night. In The Secret Garden, this is revealed to be coming from Mary’s sick cousin Colin, while in Jane Eyre, it is revealed to be a woman named Bertha, who is the wife of the master of the house, Mr Rochester, and who is plagued by violent insanity. At the climax of Jane Eyre, Bertha sets fire to  Thornfield Hall, burning the house to the ground. I am almost 100% certain, that  Misselthwaite being set on fire in this adaptation, is a nod to the influence of Jane Eyre on the original book – in this case, it is Mr Craven who sets fire to his own house, in a fit of drunken confusion and grief. As an element of the story, I don’t hate it, but I don’t think it was set up very well either. It just kind of happens randomly. Fire isn’t established within the narrative at all, it’s not set up, and it’s not part of a motif either. It’s Chekov’s gun, but you never see the gun before it goes off. In Jane Eyre it works since fire is a frequent motif within the story, often used as a metaphor for Jane herself, as the narrative repeatedly associates her with images of fire, brightness, and warmth. It could have worked here, but it mostly just feels random and not very well thought out.
With all of these underthought changes, I think that the thing this film suffers most from is the fact that it is an adaptation of The Secret Garden. The film disregards many elements the plot, themes, setting and characters of the original book, but fails to truly divorce itself from the source material. I think that the resulting film would have been better if they had simply disregarded the book entirely  and instead used the story as inspiration to create something new and original. But that’s just my opinion.
I’m sure that I’ll have more to say about this film in the future, but I’ll sign off with another quote from Mark Kermode’s review, which sums up a lot of my feelings quite well:
“It’s a strange mix. It’s perfectly fine. I don’t think it’s one of the classic, timeless adaptations, but it is a story that will always work if you treat it with a certain degree of respect […]. It’s not great, but it’s not bad, it’s a perfectly workable adaptation of something which I’ve seen adapted better.”
I couldn’t agree more.

A Jihad for Love is produced by Halal Films, in association with the Sundance Documentary Film Fund,Channel 4 (UK),ZDF (Germany),Arte (France-Germany),Logo (US) & SBS Australia. The director & producer Parvez Sharma & co-producer Sandi Dubowski raised more than a million dollars over a 6 years period to make the film.
In an interview with The NY Times,Parvez Sharma said that he "would shoot touristy footage on the first 15 minutes & the last 15 minutes of a tape", with interviews for documentary in between, to avoid having his footage seized at customs. He compiled 400 hours of footage from a dozen countries ranging from Iraq to Pakistan to the UK.The nature of the work placed him at considerable personal risk.He adopted hardcore guerrilla film-making tactics, pretending to be a tourist in one country,a worker for an AIDS charity in another country.Wherever he went,he asked his queer friends to keep copies of footage and destroy the tapes once he had successfully smuggled the masters out of the country.
During his filmmaking Parvez traveled several countries including Pakistan, Iraq, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, USA, UK, Turkey, France, Saudi Arabia, South Africa,[...].
Interviews
In an interview with NY Times magazine,Parvez Sharma said,"Being gay and Muslim myself,I knew that this film had to be about us all coming out— as Muslims. It's about claiming the Islam that has been denied to us." With a target audience of "faithful Muslims," he undertook a variety of outreach tactics, including leafleting mosques, blanketing MySpace, screening in Astoria for 15 key progressive Muslim leaders. In an interview to Der Spiegel, Sharma explained the significance of the title: "I'm not looking at jihad as battle.I'm looking at the greater jihad in Islam, which is the jihad as the struggle with the self.I also thought it was really compelling to take a word that only has one connotation for most -- to take that, reclaim it and put it in the same phrase as love, which is universal.I really think it explains it very well.
Film Screening
A Jihad for Love first premiered in Toronto International Film Festival(TIFF) in September 2007.At its premier, the director was given a security guard for safety reasons. After this film festival A Jihad for Love got huge applaud internationally.A Jihad for Love film premiered as the opening film of Panorama Documente of the Berlin Film Festival in February 2008.
