hiya lola! how about 8, 15, and 24 for the ask game?
Hi Tam! 💕💕💕
I admit I really wanted to answer these ones, so they will be long, but hopefully the best ^^ Thank you so much for your ask
Guys read these please!!! I wanted to share them so much! Let me know what you think 😊
8. Pacific Rim Au Nozelena
15. Klance go to the Arcade
23. Wildest Dreams (although a lot of the fic was inspired by multiple songs overall)
8 . that hurt my own feelings to write
So this one is not going to be from Paper Hearts, because spoilers… those bits just happen later and surprisingly I actually bawled my eyes the most at a Solid and Nebra scene, not Nozelena (I think I had these scenes planned too well to get super emotional, while with Solid and Nebra I just went with it and started crying...)
So the excerpt I'm going to show you is in my opinion one of the best pieces I’ve ever written and it’s from the Pacific Rim Au, that myself, @thoughtfullyrainynightmare, @lyranova, @loosesodamarbleare and @koneko-pi are working on 💕
Angels like you song fits it perfectly Spotify Youtube and gosh it made me cry
“Are you alright mi amor?” Helena blinked cautiously. “You don’t seem overly excited about us having a winning chance against Kaiju.”
“It’s just… not as simple as it seems,” Nozel answered quietly and looked down, not daring to meet her eyes. However Helena did not let him. She touched his chin and then lifted it up.
“It’s not,” she admitted. “However I believe that we can manage. Without hope our chances are pretty slim.”
“Then what do you hope for?” Nozel asked and he just adored how another warm blush spread across her cheeks.
She lifted her finger and twirled a single strand of her hair around it.
“I’d love to show you Europe,” Helena spoke up. “Mi familia’s sunny hacienda by the Mediterranean Sea… And then after we rest, we can go to Madrid,” she smiled and with each word her eyes brightened, she let go of her hair. “And after we’re done with sightseeing in España, we could visit other countries,” her tone picked up its pace, swiftly accentuating the words, and she pulled out of his hold, because her energy was not letting her stay in one place. “Italy!” Helena exclaimed. “Or Greece,” she pondered and Nozel softly looked down at her. “Both of them actually. Oh, then we should go to Malta! They have amazing scuba diving sites there. Do you know how to dive?”
“I..?” he raised his brows and blinked, confused by how quickly this escalated.
I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s Helena after all, one full of life idea after the other.
“You don’t,” she nodded to herself. “Don’t worry we’ll find you a fitting diving course. I mean you’re going down into the depths of the Pacific in a metal can, what’s eighteen meters to you?” she flashed a smile.
Helena then paused and chuckled to herself.
“They have moray eels there,” she said and grinned. “Sooo I know, that you’re not scared of kaiju,” she playfully pointed at him and winked, “but what will you do if a moray eel shows up?”
“Obviously I won’t be bothered by it,” Nozel stated arrogantly, but he felt, that it was just for show. Because he may not have been scared of moray eels, but something else clouded his mind.
“So cocky mi amor. You know how to get a girl excited,” she laughed and the sound of it would have normally made his heart flutter, but instead the strained muscle sunk deep into his chest.
“After moray eels…” Helena continued on happily chirping, but as much as he wanted to listen he could not. It pained him too much to do so.
You don’t know that I won’t be there with you. That you will have to dive with moray eels by yourself and I won’t be able to scare them off for you. You will once again see Madrid and then hopefully go to Rome, before hopping on a plane to Malta. And I will be dead, because if I don't die in a jaeger, my poisoning is getting worse and worse with each day. It’s getting harder to hide it from you, but how could I speak and shatter your hopes? Especially, when hope is what we need right now. We need people like you, not run down by this war, people ready to happily move forward and build a brighter future, not the likes of me, stained by their past and living in their memories. The drift never lets me forget how I’m the cause… This is my punishment, the poison, everything that follows. I don’t deserve to be happy.
He gazed at her prancing around the room and shooting him excited glances with each new idea she came up with. The red scrubs she wore, so beautifully complimented her tanned complexion. Brown hair fluttered and dark eyes shone brightly. It was as if stars decided on a new home in the depth of those round, deep orbs. She was chuckling to herself and the sound was sweet, heavenly.
I don’t deserve happiness, but you do. I am staining your life with my shades of gray. They may seem silver, but only after reflecting your light. You will be better off without me. You may grieve, when I die… Actually I’m sure you will, because I’ve already been selfish enough to let you care for me… to let you picture a future, where we… There’s no “we” in the future.
Nozel squeezed his eyes shut and looked down. He felt the blue Silva pendant bounce off the tip of his nose, only to hit it back a second later.
“Nozel?” he heard Helena ask and he looked at her, angry with himself for letting anything show. She became very good at reading him, so the tiniest slip up would let her know that something much darker was lurking in the shadows. “You do not wish to go to Paris? I know that the Eiffel Tower got destroyed during one of the first kaiju attacks, but the city had been mostly rebuilt,” she paused and looked up at him hopeful. “I suppose that I’d like to take you there,” Helena said quietly and smiled shyly, twirling a strand of her hair around her index finger. “I know it may be a bit cliche, but it’s a city of love…”
Love?! She cannot love me! Nozel pulled back. I may have these feelings, that I cannot properly name, but she…
Helena blinked upon noticing him get startled. The round eyes darkened into a shade close to black and he noticed the corners of her lips fall down. Her jaw tensed and she looked at the floor.
“So no Paris?” Helena asked quietly.
“No,” Nozel answered flatly and a tight knot squeezed his chest, not letting his heart free.
Okay this still hurts :( every time I read it and the misunderstanding at the end! 😭
15. from an old piece that i like
Klance go to the Arcade from my old fic (this is so hilarious)
Because I love my other Red x Blue OTP
I hope you like them @iamatriangle 💕 and for the rest of you just read the funny gay ship 😂
START
From the upper side of the screen some low quality ships appeared and started soaring to meet them halfway. Lance's lion jumped into the fight. It shoot two of the incoming hostiles. Keith just snored and also got his hand in the game. His playing involved more calculated manoeuvres than Lance's chaotic strategy, but to Kogane's surprise they were both equally successful. When the bigger ships came lions needed to avoid getting hit with their Ion cannon blasts. Their score rose with each second and Keith noticed a small crowd behind them watching the game. On the right side appeared a small ship, more agile than the others. It aimed at Lance. Kogane pressed the 'SPECIAL' button and his lion blasted a big cascade of digital fire at the opponent.
"Thanks buddy." Lance said a little too loud from the adrenaline.
The next wave contained some small fighters, but also three ship like the one Keith took out a moment ago. He needed to admit that he had never reached a level this high in this game and Lance had probably something to do with it. McClain had also used his special blast, so they were practically defenceless, but somehow they defeated the wave. During the next one Lance was the first to get blasted. The blue lion flickered and boy shook his head in disbelief.
"Quiznak! I barely had them. It looks like it's up to you Mullet." A cocky grin once again appeared on his face and this made Keith loose focus. Just for a moment, but a moment was enough to get hit.
"Quiznak!"
"You're right quiznak it!" Said Lance and then he noticed people standing around them. A small applause came from them. McClain bowed and winked at Keith. "I actually don't hate you right now."
"Gee, thanks Lance."
'New high score!!!' A caption appeared and Keith watched it with disbelief. He turned to Lance, who was as cheerful as he could be. A wide smile spreading across his face made something change in Keith's own expression. He laughed as McClain put both of his hands on Kogane's arms and shook him.
"Aw man we did this! Let's choose our duo name."
"A duo name?"
"Yeah so it will appear next to DUO HIGH SCORE."
A face palm was definitely the accurate reaction, but something stopped Keith from this. McClain not being rude or jealous towards him was something new, but quite pleasant. Why ruin it.
"Got any ideas? Not connected to Hamilton."
"Aww buddy, why do you have to be so mean?"
"Sorry, not sorry."
"Anyway it doesn't matter. I've already chosen our DUO NAME."
"Hm?"
"What about Klance?"
Keith rose his brows and then tried to give Lance the most unappealing look he could.
"You just added K to your name," he said reluctantly.
"Yeah I know. I'm not stupid."
"But this name is."
"Why can't you appreciate my efforts?" A tease was so easy to notice in Lance's voice and the puppy eyes he made.
"You're the worst."
"So is it Klance?"
"No..." He looked at those blue begging eyes once again. "Yeees?"
"Yes!" McClain shouted and jumped in the air to show his satisfaction. Keith just chuckled. "Klance it is." He started pushing accurate buttons and the caption appeared brightly on the screen.
"So now the rival mode?" Asked Keith actually not willing to change from cooperation to different mode.
"Well if you want to we can now play against each other, but there are so many games in which we have high scores to beat."
"Are you suggesting to play 'Arcade's fast and furious' in cooperation mode?"
"Yes?"
"Alright."
"Yeah!" Lance shouted. "Watch out high scores team Klance is coming."
"I still think that this name sucks."
Lance gave him a deadpan stare.
"You suck."
❤️💙
23. that was inspired by a work from another medium (music, visual art, dance, etc.)
Paper Heart so much! There is this one singer who inspired a lot of this fic and I have a whole playlist made for it, but most of the songs fit latter chapters better (that vocalist’s as well, let me tell you, when I was coming up with it one song played 53 times one day -> Spotify summary told me that)
So actually this Friday’s chapter is the one I told you I made a whole separate playlist for and I will post the first illustration with that playlist tomorrow. But for now I’m letting you know that the vibes will set by this song.
Bailando by Enrique Iglesias (Spanish version please) Spotify, YouTube
As for what we have so far ^^
The whole of chapter 21. The waves was inspired by Wildest Dreams by Taylors Swift (this version please)
I’ll chose parts from it and show you as I paraphrased the lyrics:
“Where are you taking me?” Helena asked poking at his feathery mantle, that was not fully covered by the cloak.
“It’s a surprise,” he said determined. “Let’s get out of here, fly out of the city. Away from everyone,” his voice was low and made Helena shudder. He was extremely attractive at the moment. His lilac eyes pierced right through her. Helena’s heart was racing from excitement.
“I wish it could always be like that,” Nozel spoke up for the first time in a while. His voice was quiet and he looked down.
Helena lifted his chin and made him meet her eyes.
“Say that you’ll remember this,” she smiled. “Us.”
“I will remember you,” he said in a serious tone and Helena blushed. “We shouldn’t spend the whole night here, but I think that we still have time for a little stroll,” he changed the topic. “Are you interested?”
Also I already added this song in chapter 15
“We don’t have to go public with it,” Helena said and Nozel looked up curious. “We can just meet each other in secret. No one has to know what we do.”
And let me reblog the art with fitting song lyrics, because the art is just perfect.

Suit
The truth was somewhat more complicated than that, he was told.
“City life,” grumbled Hakan.
“City life,” agreed Raif.
In truth, Raif Kermani was a Nagxian… or half-Nagxian, as it were. He had been born to Satir Kermani, his father, and Shion Okeya, his mother. Satir had considered himself a lucky man, to have met with such a match, but he had not known – and never discovered – that Shion was a Domain shinobi, sworn to the service of her lord. Life in Nagxia was village life, not city life, and so – for great stretches of each sun – Satir was away from home, working to provide for his new family. Shion had been the one to raise Raif, and she had been the one to train him from a young age. She had taught him loyalty, secrecy, serenity, dedication, and all of the skills required for the initiation and induction into the ranks of Doma’s most covert agents.
Besides his mother, he had met and known only one other shinobi in all his years: their contact, who on infrequent occasions bore messages to and from Doma for them. Only after the passing of his father, when his mother was too old and weak to travel, had Raif been summoned to the Land of the One River, where he had met with the direct descendant of Lord Shoen. There, he had found his lord a most honorable and just man, and there he had renewed his oath and pledge to his lord.
Raif had been bidden to abide in Nagxia for a time, and to await any opportunity whereby he might move West into Dalmasca. The Nagxians posed no great threat to Doma, but Dalmasca was a rising power, strong and terrible; his lord feared that, without certain precautions in place, the insatiable appetite of Dalmascan conquest would look East. So Raif had gone home. Moons rose and fell, turns passed, before opportunity presented itself in the form of one Malta Gavvar.
Malta was one of those Dalmascans orphans fortunate enough to have drawn a patron’s attention. They had sought and found good service in her, from her; even as a child, she’d shown a proclivity for the preparation of food and drink in all their forms. Ever was she drawn to the kitchens, and so she’d been brought on board as a scullery maid, rather than adopted. In time, she had shown such promise that the kitchen maids had recommended a furtherance of her education. So it came to pass that she had been sent to the best cooks, chefs, bakers, and winemakers in Rabanastre. There had been no schools for such things in the city, but from each of them she had absorbed a great deal, until there was little to be left for her to learn at home.
Lately, her patron had acquired a taste for more exotic fare. Naturally, rather than deprive the household of the more experienced maids, Malta – who was very nearly a kitchen maid herself, by that time – had been sent East to Nagxia, to learn of that region’s dishes. Somehow, Shion caught wind of this girl long before her arrival, and so she prepared for Raif to make her acquaintance under the most favorable of circumstances.
Malta had been a beautiful woman, to be sure, but Raif had found that he was not attracted to this woman on a physical level. Her smile, however… her radiance, her general exuberance, was intoxicating. She stayed in his village for the better part of two moons; by the end of the first, she had met his mother and shared a meal with them on the regular. It had been his mother who had interceded with her on his behalf, had begged of Malta in those final days to permit Raif to accompany her back to Dalmasca. The village had little to offer him in the way of a future; Shion wanted the best for him, for him to travel and to see the wider world, to become a man of means in his own right.
She had taken Shion’s suit to her chaperones, who – not knowing better – agreed to assist the young man. One more on the road would not be a terrible inconvenience, and there was always safety in numbers. They would return the way they had come: through the jungles back to Valnain, and from there they would south along the coastline, around Greylic’s Bend, until they came to the river delta which would see them across the Westersand to Rabanastre.
He courted her on the road and on the sea. Slowly, as he’d been taught, and carefully, as he’d been bid.
Her homecoming was not as she’d expected. She had gone to the maids, who had in turn relayed her request to the household staff, who had in turn relayed her request to her patron. It turned out that her patron was a jealous sort; that she sought assistance for this young man to make his start here, in the city, prompted all sorts of heinous thoughts and foul accusations. There was a scandal, and Malta – despite all her good service – was thrown out.
She was distressed; he was supportive. She didn’t know what to do; he had no contacts in the city who could help. Hers was a distraught state, turbulent and emotional; his was a steady presence, calm in a storm. Once she had her bearings again, they spoke for a time and they came up with a plan. They went around, together, to see the many cooks and chefs and bakers and winemakers she had apprenticed under. They started a collection, which grew in time. With that collection, they went around, found, and bought their own building.
“The restaurant,” Hakan said.
“The restaurant,” Raif said.
It was a struggle, at first, making their own way. But she knew what they needed, she had the skills, and he was both a willing student in the kitchen and a charming face out on the streets. In short order, they stocked the pantries and cupboards, they gathered pots and pans and spatulas and ladles and plates and cups, they distributed pamphlets and rumors, so on and so forth.
The opening was a success, and their success was a relief. The celebration afterwards… well, no one could have blamed them. A young woman and a young man, together alone, making their way in the world.
They were married not long thereafter, and the restaurant became their home, the city their world. They did well together, but Shion’s teachings were deeply rooted: Raif met regularly with his contact, though he had little of worth to report for a long time. Still, he was in place, as had been the plan: an agent of Doma in the city of Rabanastre, capital of Dalmasca. It was not until some turns later that his world turned upside down.
He walked into the kitchen one morning to find her there.
She told him that she was pregnant.
This changed things. He was struck dumb by the news, and by the dawning comprehension that he would be expected to raise the child as he’d been raised. Something in him broke… rather, it was more accurate to say that, after all the scheming in which he’d had no say, he picked up a metaphorical hammer and broke it himself. Enough was enough.
Enough was enough, he realized, because – at some point along the way – he had fallen in love with his wife.
She’d been concerned at his lack of response, but he assured her that was overjoyed at the news. This brought out a bright smile in her, though he dashed it with his next few words. He had a confession to make, something he ought to have confided in her long ago, and nothing he could say now, he knew, would ever make that right.
He told her.
She didn’t speak to him, didn’t deign to remain in the same room as him, for three suns.
She forgave him, after a fashion, but she made him pledge to her that never, ever would he treat their child the way Shion had treated him: as a tool, rather as a person.
He swore. He swore, and within a moon he had informed his contact that he would no longer be able to serve his lord. His honor would not permit it, for he’d be staining his lord’s honor in turn by abusing the trust of such a woman… a woman who had been a girl, and had deserved no such ill fortune. The contact had not been pleased to her this, had reminded him that shinobi dispensed with honor to serve Doma, but Raif had held his ground. He was then told that his message would be relayed.
Life went on. There was a celebration held in their community at the news. Iona and Elias were born many moons later, unexpected twins, with the girl preceding the boy by mere minutes.
“Then she grew sick, you said. Something about the birth?” Hakan asked.
“Yes,” Raif said, not looking at him. “She grew weak. Fell ill more often. I suspected my lord’s hand in it, at first. I sought an explanation. I was convinced there was foul play at work. I drew her blood, examined, ran all the tests I knew for any substance I was familiar with. Nothing.”
“Misfortune,” Hakan said.
“Misfortune,” Raif said. “You know the rest. We had a few happy years together: Malta, Iona, Elias, and I. But sickness took her in the end. I was left with the children, a desperate need to protect them, and no one to turn to. Oh, the community promised to remember us, to drop in, to assist a single father, out of their love for Malta, for her memory’s sake… but time lays waste to lies, and Rabanastre is a dangerous place. I took up their education, though I have ever kept my promise to her. They are not tools.”
Off to one side, Iona and Elias both raised their chins with pride… as if daring Hakan to disagree.
“You reached back out,” Hakan guessed.
“...I did. My lord understood. And he could provide what no one else would: stability, protection, and somewhere we could call home, if our home was ever taken from us.”
“In exchange for your renewed loyalty.”
Raif shot him a look. “You have seen much since you came to the city, Hakan, but you have not seen everything. You have not seen the soldiers at Nalbina. You have not seen what goes on in the palace. You have not heard what I have heard.”
“You fear Dalmasca will turn against Doma.”
“And Nagxia, too. My village, the people there… and yes, my lord’s people as well.”
“It was you. The assassin who struck at the dignitary. You, on the rooftop with Iona.”
“I was spotting for Baba and Elias,” Iona said. “We were out of harm’s way. I… I didn’t expect you to–”
“To attack me,” Raif finished. “We had thought that you had fled. But you drew on me, for Iona’s sake, and that is when we knew you could be trusted.”
“Hakan,” Elias said, “we could use your help.”
“Politics are not for me,” the Viera snapped, heat rising in his voice alongside his anger. “I will not kill for you.”
“We are not asking you to,” Raif said. “The business with the Bozjan was… unfortunate. A desperate measure. But they will send another, and their security measures have improved, and my lord must know what will be said behind the palace walls. If we are to maintain the peace and forestall war… conquest… then my lord must know the worth of Bozja’s offers, so that a counteroffer can be proposed.”
“My ears,” Hakan grumbled.
“Your ears,” Raif agreed.

I should have known she was trouble from the moment she walked into my office. But I was late on the rent again, and I hadn’t had a case in a while.
It had gotten to the point where I had all my collectibles spread out on my desk, trying to decide what I could hock so I could get the rest of the rent I needed, and maybe a taco. I looked up when the door opened, and this bird strolled in like she owned the place; I half wondered if she was maybe the new landlord. She was wrapped up in pink, with legs that just wouldn’t quit, going up and up, all the way. I jumped up on the desk to take a better look.
“Are you Sam Bird?” she asked.
“Who wants to know?” I was being a little rude, but for all I knew she was a process server.
“I’m not trying to ruffle any feathers,” she assured me. “But I hear you’ve got a reputation. That when someone’s missing, you can find them.”
“I’ve been known to do that once or twice,” I said.
“Heard you found that missing falcon. The one from Malta?”
I cocked my head, looking up at her. “Someone’s done her research.”
“I need to find someone. If you’re Mr. Bird—”
“A lady like you, you can call me Sam,” I said, strutting a little.
“I don’t have any money—”
“Sweetheart, nobody in this town’s gonna work for free.”
“—But I do have this,” she said. Standing on one leg, she pulled something off a cord around her neck, and dropped it on my desk.
Now that was shiny. It was a circle, gold-colored, and what a shine it had. There was a glittering thing attached to it, like a piece of green glass, except even shinier.
I could pay my rent for months with something this shiny. Or—I glanced over at my office window, where I could see the remnants of my partner’s name, left behind under mine where I hadn’t managed to scrape it all off with my beak. I could afford to hire someone to reglaze that window, or get someone to finish the scraping…
Oh, who was I kidding? I wasn’t ever going to hand that shiny over to anyone. That was going straight to my nest and staying there forever. Maybe some lucky lady might share it with me, someday. But I sure wasn’t gonna spend it on rent.
I picked it up with my beak, and dug in a bit, checking to see if any of the shine came off. It didn’t.
“All right, then, I’m on the case. Who’m I looking for?”
She fluffed up her pink feathers and leaned her long neck down into my face.
***
Yes, eventually the crow detective may be called on to solve a murder. Of crows.
I'm sorry, was that a spoiler? I don't know if there was anyone who didn't get by the end that Sam Bird is a crow. I hope everyone at least figured out that he was a bird, even though I did my best to hide it up until the end.
I stopped here because I don't actually know what the flamingo wants, but I was going to go into a bunch of stuff about Sam's feelings toward his ex-partner, a raven named Annabel, who went into business for herself. Sam's agency is still called Corvid Investigations. Maybe he will get a new partner.
I have no idea where this is going and traditionally I suck at writing mysteries so i don't even know if I can pull it off. But a crow as the hero in a noir detective mystery is just too irresistable not to try.

Eurovision Special!
It's my favorite time of year, Eurovision time! Every year I make a post talking about my five favorite songs from the year and generally talk about what I thought of the whole competition.
Uhh here's the thing though, this year SUCKED. Like I have been following Eurovision for six years and there has never been a more mid year in my experience. There were literally only 5 songs I liked, which while it made writing this really easy, is terrible given I usually playlist around 10 songs each year. I don't know what was happening but the countries dropped the ball on picking entries and the jury decided that only boring songs were allowed to do well. I cannot express how disappointed I was this year. (I just realized in my last post I wrote "Eurovision is getting too good, and what comes up must come down sometime" and unfortunately I was right)
Anyways, if you haven't read my last two Eurovision posts (which you can find here and here) I give each song a score from 1-10 in four categories: singer, song, catchiness, and performance. While technically a perfect score is a 40, there are available bonus points based on whether it isn't in English, it makes me laugh really hard, embodies Eurovision, etc. Each song also gets a fun little note so I can remember what it sounded like. Listen it's really hard to keep track of 37 songs.
Without further ado, here are the only good songs in Eurovision 2023:
5. Lithuania - Stay by Monika Linkytė
Score: 28/40
Notes: chutoh aahh tootoh
Final Ranking: 11th
I was really on the fence about including this one since it didn't really grab me at first, and in all honesty its not that great or unique and I kind of wrote it off as your standard Eurovision song.
But then as the days went on, I found the chorus - ‘Čiūto Tūto’ haunting me. I have never had more fun than dancing along with the chorus and there has not been a day I haven't sung this song. I'm re-listening to it now and honestly, I'm fine never listening to it again, but it has changed my life.
4. Austria - Who the Hell is Edgar? by Teya & Salena
Score: 30/40
Notes: Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe
Final Ranking: 15th
Now this is why I listen to Eurovision. I come here for camp nonsense and this year Austria delivered. A feminist song about being possessed by Edgar Allan Poe?? Perfection. The song itself is really catchy, the singers are incredibly fun and charismatic, and the music video is just such a great time. I am really sad this song didn't place higher, especially since a lot of people were praising it. You deserved more girls!
(although edgar allan poe was actually very pro-slavery so they should be canceled /j)
3. Malta - Dance (Our Own Party) by The Busker
Score: 30/40
Notes: Perfect sax part
Final Ranking: didn't make it to the grand finale >:(
As the comment suggests, the strength of this song is the killer sax riffs (riffs multiple!! they just kept delivering!). The song as a whole is a super fun time, with a fun message and a goofy music video, once again things that I look for when I listen to Eurovision songs. Plus they're from Malta! A micronation represented by people actually from there! I feel like that alone deserves bonus points (I mean Malta only has half a million people, less than Wyoming).
2. Portugal - Ai Coração by Mimicat
Score: 38/40
Notes: Cabaret flamenco
Final Ranking: 23rd
This song reminds me a lot of Fanfare Ciocarlia in the best way. Its quick, full of brass, and makes me want to dance. It's also all in Portuguese and the live performance was absolutely mesmerizing. I don't know exactly what this genre is called, but I'm such a fan. Give me fast-paced music and some brass and I'm in love.
Finland - Cha Cha Cha by Käärijä
Score: 39/40
Notes: Why did the bridge keep going
Final Ranking: 2nd
C'mon, did you really think that I would put any other song at number one? This song hooks you from the beginning, has an aggressively European synth riff, nonsense Finnish lyrics, an inexplicable heavy metal chorus, this song is absolutely wonderful and one of the best to come from Eurovision. This song clearly stands out from all the others, and is the only one that I know of that made its way into international Tiktok. I mean if my roommate knows a Eurovision song without my involvement that means that it has some cultural power.
Unfortunately, I don't think this song is perfect. The bridge kind of ruins the momentum of the song by steering it into generic pop and for some reason they keep that overtone for the rest of the song. They were so close to committing to the bit, then they weirdly tried to make it sound normal. That aside, this is clearly the best song of this year and I am convinced that they rigged it.
I think the only songs I actually liked enough to keep listening to in my daily life are the last two, which is pretty bad for a Eurovision year. I just hope they do something good next year in stupid Sweden.
(and my least favorites this year were Georgia and Greece, really bringing down the letter "G." Luckily Germany brought a great song to make up for those two.)

My thoughts on Eurovision 2023 entries (part 2)
Here is the second part of my original post
https://www.tumblr.com/bettyg196/712764636834988032/my-thoughts-on-eurovision-2023-entries
Enjoy.
Denmark: REILEY - Breaking My Heart
Rank: #37
Rating: 3 / 10
The worst entry of the year for me. It's too generic and maybe too overproduced, this song has no soul and authenticity. The verses aren't too bad, but the chorus with Reiley's robotic voice chilled me so much that I caught a cold just listening to it. It's a big no for me, unfortunately my opinion on Denmark is rather unpopular in the fandom and Denmark will qualify for the final thanks to young kids who spend too much time on TikTok.
Romania: THEODOR ANDREI - D.G.T (Off And On)
Rank: #26
Rating: 7,5 / 10
Indeed, D.G.T was not necessarily the best choice that Romania could make but it is not a musical horror either. It is a nice entry with personality. Despite his young age, Theodor Andrei is a very good vocalist and performer, he has a lot of stage presence and he gives everything. On the other hand, please change the staging !
Latvia: SUDDEN LIGHTS - Aijā
Rank: #13
Rating: 9 / 10
Latvia has bet on originality this year. Aijā is an experimental and unique song. I love how the song is musically chaotic most of the time and has a smooth ending. Sudden Lights deserves the final for me, but the band are in the toughest semi-final, I wonder how they'll fare.
Croatia: LET 3 - Mama ŠČ
Rank: #32
Rating: 5,5 / 10
Well, I'm nice, I gave Croatia the average, but it was originality and 5 other songs that saved it from the last place in my ranking. At least it's daring but musically it's too messed up. I appreciate the anti-war message of the song but I remain convinced that it is a bad choice coming from Croatia. It deserves to stay in its semi-final because it reminds me of the period of unclassifiable Eurovision songs in the 2000s, but the televote will send this entry to the final because Europeans will appreciate the chaotic side of Let 3.
Malta: THE BUSKER - Dance (Our Own Party)
Rank: #24
Rating: 7,5 / 10
The song is not that bad, it's even good. We didn't have the Moldovan Epic Sax Guy this year but we have the Maltese equivalent. I appreciate Malta's choice even though Brooke would have been a better option imo. If Malta is lucky, it can be the surprise qualifier of the year (there is always a surprise Eurovision finalist country).
Italy: MARCO MENGONI - Due Vite
Rank: #15
Rating: 8,5 / 10
A very emotional, passionate and powerful ballad as Italy knows how to do. The song's only real flaw is the lack of surprise, but otherwise Italy hit the mark with Due Vite even though there were better options for Mahmood's country this year (Elodie 💔 Madame 💔 Rosa Chemical 💔 Lazza 💔 Levante 💔).
Lithuania: MONIKA LINKYTĖ - Stay
Rank: #22
Rating: 8 / 10
Very nice Lithuanian entry. Monika Linkytė is an excellent vocalist and has a good stage presence. Lithuania can go to the final I think.
France: LA ZARRA - Évidemment
Rank: #9
Rating: 9 / 10
What a splendid chanson ! “Évidemment” fits well to La Zarra's musical universe. It's well produced and built, the lyrics have been researched. This entry leaves no one indifferent. I don't know how it will go in Liverpool, but whatever happens I'm proud that this song represents my country.
Australia: VOYAGER - Promise
Rank: #4
Rating: 9,5 / 10
Thank You Australia! I love it ! “Promise” is one of my favorites songs of this edition. This is easily my favorite Eurovision song from this country. Finally, Australia is taking a risk by sending something that is not Eurovision encoded. In addition, I really like the universe of Voyager, the group will fly to Liverpool to my great happiness. Considering the weakness of the semi-final where Australia is, I think the country will go to the final easily.
To be continued in the next post.

How to Find Authentic Indian Food in Valletta: A Guide for Food Lovers
Valletta, Malta’s historic capital, is a melting pot of cultures, and this diversity is reflected in its vibrant food scene. While traditional Maltese cuisine takes center stage, the city is home to an impressive range of international restaurants, including those offering delicious Indian cuisine. For food lovers who crave the rich flavors and spices of authentic Indian food, finding the best Indian fare in Valletta can be an exciting journey. In this guide, we’ll share tips on how to discover the most authentic Indian food in Valletta restaurants.
1. Look for Authenticity in the Menu
The first step to finding an authentic Indian restaurant in Valletta is to look closely at the menu. A truly authentic Indian restaurant will offer a diverse range of dishes from different regions of India, not just the familiar curries like butter chicken or tikka masala. Indian cuisine is incredibly diverse, and dishes vary greatly depending on the region.
Look for dishes like dosas (a South Indian specialty), biryani (a flavorful rice dish often made with meat or vegetables), or chaat (a popular street food made with chickpeas, tamarind sauce, and yogurt). The presence of these items on the menu is a good sign that the restaurant is offering more than just the basics and is focused on providing a more comprehensive Indian dining experience.
Additionally, authentic Indian menus will often include vegetarian dishes like paneer butter masala, dal tadka, and aloo gobi (a potato and cauliflower dish), reflecting India's strong tradition of vegetarianism.
2. Check Online Reviews and Ratings
Online reviews can be a helpful resource when searching for the best Indian food in Valletta. Websites like TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, and even social media platforms can provide insights into the quality of the food and the overall dining experience at Valletta restaurants offering Indian cuisine.
Look for reviews that mention the authenticity of the flavors, the use of fresh ingredients, and the attentiveness of the staff. Often, reviewers will highlight standout dishes, giving you a better idea of what to order when you visit. Be sure to read both positive and negative reviews to get a balanced perspective.
3. Ask for Recommendations from Locals
One of the best ways to find authentic Indian food in Valletta is by asking locals for recommendations. Whether you’re staying at a hotel, visiting a local market, or chatting with residents, don’t hesitate to ask for their favorite Indian restaurant suggestions. Locals often know the hidden gems that tourists might overlook.
Many residents of Valletta are familiar with the city’s diverse restaurant scene and can guide you to places that serve high-quality, authentic Indian cuisine. Getting recommendations from people who dine out frequently will help you find Valletta restaurants that prioritize both flavor and authenticity.
4. Look for Traditional Cooking Techniques
Another key to finding authentic Indian food is to observe the cooking techniques used in the restaurant. Indian cuisine relies heavily on traditional cooking methods, such as tandoor ovens for grilling naan, kebabs, and marinated meats, and slow cooking techniques for rich, layered curries.
If a restaurant highlights its use of a tandoor oven or if you see dishes like tandoori chicken or naan prominently featured on the menu, it’s a good indication that the restaurant is committed to offering authentic Indian flavors. Tandoor cooking gives food a distinct smoky flavor that is a hallmark of authentic North Indian cuisine.
5. Check the Ambiance and Décor
The ambiance and décor of a restaurant can also provide clues about its authenticity. Many authentic Indian restaurants aim to reflect India’s vibrant culture and heritage through their interior design, featuring traditional Indian artwork, textiles, and music.
While décor alone doesn’t guarantee the quality of the food, a restaurant that takes pride in creating an immersive Indian dining experience is more likely to prioritize authenticity in its menu and preparation methods. An inviting atmosphere can enhance your overall dining experience and make the meal feel more genuine.
6. Talk to the Staff or Chefs
Don’t be afraid to engage with the staff or even the chefs if possible. Asking questions about the dishes, their origins, and how they are prepared can give you insight into the restaurant’s commitment to authentic Indian cuisine. Knowledgeable staff who are passionate about the food they serve are usually a good sign that you’re in the right place.
You can ask about the spices they use, the cooking techniques, or even request recommendations for dishes that best represent their culinary expertise. This interaction can enhance your dining experience and ensure you’re getting a true taste of India.
Conclusion
Finding authentic Indian food in Valletta restaurants is a rewarding experience that allows you to explore the rich, diverse flavors of one of the world’s most beloved cuisines. By paying attention to the menu, reading online reviews, asking locals for recommendations, and engaging with the restaurant staff, you can ensure that your culinary journey through Valletta’s Indian food scene is as authentic as possible. With its blend of traditional dishes, bold spices, and vibrant flavors, authentic Indian cuisine is waiting to be discovered in Malta’s capital city.

The MGA Gaming License: Why You Want to Have One
Malta has become a gambling paradise in the last few decades. Many major gaming companies consider it to be the perfect location due to affordable taxation laws. However, the true reason Malta provides the ideal operating environment is the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) license.
The MGA gaming license meets all the standards of a high-end online gambling license, and it’s sanctioned by the EU. Thus, you’ll be able to find many online casinos who were lucky and competent enough to obtain this popular license. There are many reasons why online casinos are gravitating towards Malta and its gaming license, but it’s not the only option for offshore sites. Many instant withdrawal casinos choose to obtain their licences from Curacao for similar benefits as those we will discuss below. These sites often have to head offshore for their licence, as they primarily use crypto to give players faster access to their winnings. Crypto-based gambling sites usually struggle to apply for licences in the US and UK, for example, and so have to turn to places like Malta and Curacao instead.
It’s a symbol of player trust
Unless this is your first rodeo, you already know that the Malta Gaming Authority is the ‘gold standard’ of casino regulation. Even the best online casinos that hold this license are regularly inspected to ensure that player safety procedures are being respected. Therefore, players know that they have every chance to enjoy their favorite games in a safe way.
But the Authority doesn’t stop there; they go one step further to ensure all online games are examined by licensed testing organizations. This way, they give access to fair games that fully rely on a Random Number Generator, so players don’t have to worry about rigged slots and table games.
That being said, it’s common knowledge that Malta’s gambling license is among the most difficult ones to obtain. Online operators have to comply with strict rules if they want to operate under MGA. Thus, players have the security of knowing they are putting their trust and money into one of the best casinos on the market.
It stays on top of trends
Even though the MGA license is one of the most coveted online gambling licenses in the world, they don’t let that stop them from constantly evolving and improving. This regulatory body is always willing to adapt its gaming legislation to future trends, and the finest example of that came in 2018.
Malta Gaming Authority was quick to notice new and emerging trends in online gambling, such as the introduction of virtual currency. They had no problems revising their gaming regime and introducing a new set of online gambling laws that would cater to crypto players. Therefore, players who gamble in MGA-licensed venues can gamble by using various cryptocurrencies—such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and others—if they choose to do so.
The 2018 changes went beyond crypto gambling, as they aimed to simplify the licensing process and ensure a higher level of protection for players and operators. The MGA changed the licensing procedure so that it includes only two types of licenses – B2B and B2C.
The validity period for licenses has also been changed; thus, online casinos have to renew their license every ten years, instead of five. Moreover, a different fee structure has been introduced, and it now includes a cap on the variable license fee.

130 Days in Malta
February 24, 2024: Touchdown Malta
We came here with not enough pocket money, not enough winter clothes, no friends, and no idea where or what to do first. On our first week, we roamed around Sliema, got used to the place, got used to the weather, got used to the transportation, tried new restaurants, and of course, processed all the paperwork.
The second week, we were able to settle into our new flat and got excited the first 2 days. We get to cook our own food and no more resto-foods. Until I got bored and started to feel something was missing - friends, lots of it! So I decided to download Tinder, not to look for what it was intended to do but to look for new friends.
March 8, 2024: And so I met this guy
We matched on Tinder and had a good chat with him. He doesn't seem like a perv. He asked me out for dinner, and I agreed. He picked me up, had dinner, had a good talk, a little tour around Sliema, and dropped me off. To be honest, in my 36 years of existence, that was my real date. Well, there's always the first time.
March 9, 2024: The Beginning of It All
As I have told you, we don't have enough pocket money for this Europe life. We're on our last euro and we're just in the middle of the month. Ana and Tita Jess decided to buy Tequila (always bound to wrong decisions), then when we were almost drunk, we decided to invite over my very first friend in Malta, the gentleman Indian guy, with the hopes of him bringing along his other friends and more booze. To more friends, salud!
It turned out, he's kind of an introvert so he didn't bring along any friends, but hey! He brought Vodka, that will do - and that's when it started.
March 19, 2024: Holiday - No work, 2nd Date
So I got bored. Again. Asked him for lunch. Got to know him better. There are signs of a little red flag (existing soul-mate) which I thought was in India but turned out also living here in Malta.
So the chatting continued until I realized I was kinda into him. He's gentleman, he's sweet - he went to our house to let me see the moon and he was under the tree, waiting for me to go to the balcony, he took me to beautiful places here in Malta, and I started being competitive with this existing soulmate. My stupid mind was into it! I had a goal to get his 100% attention, I wanted it all. I didn't like the idea of him having other dates. Besides, my adjustment phase of living in a totally different country was taken out from me, in a very good way of course, and I want it to stay like that forever.
Weeks passed. Weekends usually start on Wednesdays til Sundays, I've been drunk texting him almost every freakin' night. I laughed, cried, had butterflies, didn't sleep, got me smiling like crazy, etc. - it was a roller coaster ride in just 2 months.
More than Friends, Besties
June was still a roller-coaster ride. Every weekend we're together, cooking, drinking, watching sunsets and the full moon on top of the world, waiting for sunrise, binge-watching, star-gazing on the rooftop, and talking while cuddling. This is when I realized I was not in love with him, I was attached to him - meaning, I'm happy and at peace when I'm with him, and when we're not together, I'm a wreck. It's like my world starts to revolve around him. Which shouldn't be the case.
I was used to being single for 6 years. I enjoyed doing things I love without getting permission from anyone. I enjoyed meeting and mingling with other people without worrying about someone's feelings. I enjoyed staying out late with friends. I enjoyed being single and being happy just by myself.
I tried my best to accept that we wouldn't be together, that someone else had his heart, that never will I ever be part of his future plans. He said it, loud and clear. I can still hear every word - it still echoes in my head. I know I have to let go.
You will always be my incomplete favorite wish.
Is my happiness enough to stay? Or is it sufficient for me to let go if it’s the only thing I’m holding on to? We're starting to drift apart. I can tell. We're no longer asking how our day was. No constant texting. No longer giving updates on what we're currently doing, where we are, and who we're with.
I set a day to be our last day, June 16th - our 100th day, because I was hoping that by this day, you’ll get to like me, fall in love with me, and even choose me. But I was wrong, instead, I was the one falling in love with you every day. Whether you spent the whole day not texting me or being on the phone with her, I still like you. I’m still falling in love with you. And I still choose you. I thought it was just because I was in a foreign land where I didn’t know anyone or had no diversion that’s why I was falling in love with you, but no. I know what I feel and I was sincere about it.
I thought i was selfish for wanting you to want me so bad. But it turned out it was her who’s selfish for not letting you go. You always tell me to be “present”. I am. You’re the one who’s not. You’re the one living in a parallel universe where it’s just you and her.
I hope, next time you see me, i won’t be in love with you anymore. I’m raising my white flag, this battle i’m fighting alone is over. I’ve worn myself down. I am exhausted making myself worthy for you, so this is my surrender. She won.
I know it will be so damn hard to forget you. You have her and your friends, and I only have you. You’ve been so transparent with me since time immemorial. I’m the one who disregards all the red flags and insists on being with you. I wish you nothing but happiness.
The real goodbye is the one that happens slowly. Overtime. Wordlessly. There is no "see you again". There are no future plans. You stop checking up on each other. And eventually, you go back to being strangers.
So this is me from ignoring everyone else just to be available for you, to being available to everyone else just to forget about you.

Stockholm Week 11-1: Aurora Hunting and Anniversary Party
I know I have been hyping up for the Barcelona trip, but sadly I had to post these extraordinary days I had before posting all about Barcelona.
I promise next post is all about Barcelona!
3/25 Mon: Aurora Hunting
Yes, aurora hunting in Stockholm!
It was just another ordinary day until the Professor mentioned the possibility of seeing aurora in Stockholm today. As soon as I processed that information, I made eye contact with my friends and my fingers began searching for the best places to see Aurora in Stockholm.
Lappis Beach was rated the top in Stockholm, and it was only a 30-minute metro from the DIS building. Naturally, I started planning for our night at the beach.
Finally, the time had come. Before we left, I put on layer after layer, preparing myself for the chilly wind from the beach and the forest.
The beach was small but beautiful.
I could have stared at the lights for hours and hours if it wasn’t for the freezing wind
To make this new excursion even better, we put on music on a speaker and listened to the waves and the music making harmony together. We had so many small conversations that night.
With the hope that the clouds will break soon, we stayed there for approximately 2 hours. We didn’t see the aurora, but the views and the talks we had that night will be in my memory for a long time.
3/26 Tue: School, Pack, PARTY, Fly!
It was a truly hectic day!
After Swedish class, I went directly back home and started packing for a week-long journey to Barcelona and Malta.
I was invited to go to the 25th-anniversary event of a shoe store called SNS.
I thought packing would take a while, but as a frequent traveler, I got most of the packing done before the party.
I was debating whether to go or not, but since it was free and I got done packing early, I decided to go.
It was much more fun than I expected: there was a variety of engaging events with prizes (official soccer uniforms, long-sleeve and t-shirts, bags, hats, shampoo and conditioner, chocolates and candies, etc.) and free food like pizza and cake. I returned home with a handful of prizes!
What I gained from this event: a jersey that is apparently worth $100, travel-size shampoo and conditioner, and chocolates
I carefully chose clothes for the rest of the night before leaving the house at 3 am with my friend to catch the night bus.
My roommate asked me if I were moving to Barcelona…
The next post is all about my time in Barcelona! It will be followed by my time in Malta too.
I’m breaking up the weeks so that I don’t bombard you with content ;)
Hope to see you soon in THE Barcelona post that I have been so excited about!
Vi ses,

You're Awful, I Love You: Part 28
Enver Gortash/Trans Male Tiefling Durge
Sentry returned to The Feast, continuing to lovingly detail the fur and finery on each gnoll in the picture. Each little droplet and splatter of blood adorning their beautiful clothes and jewels, every stray rivulet of saliva. He sighed gently, relaxing into the serene peace of his art. He thought of guiding a little long nailed hand across canvas, holding a little body up to reach the very top and make a marking. He thought bitterly of how that had not been his childhood, of the breeding cage, of his visitors. He shook it off and inhaled deeply through his nose, squeezing his eyes shut. Another headache, another 'gift' from father for his defiance. It was getting worse. Something small and soft rubbed against his leg and he paused, for a moment the pain in his head faded, replaced with a serene calm. He opened his eyes slowly and looked down. “Oh, hey Malta. Still haven't headed home, huh? Well, you can stay as long as you need to, I'll smooth it over with Wysp when I have a chance to visit him...” The cat let out a sad little mew and pawed at Sentry's leg. The tiefling sighed and set down his brush a moment, picking the cat up in his arms and burying his face against the soft fur. “It's alright, buddy, when I come back from this little outing, we'll go straight away and talk to Wysp. Whatever you two fought over can't possibly be that bad.” He carried Malta over to the bed and set him down on the pillow before returning to his painting.
Back at Gortash's home, Enver was preparing for the excursion, taking another item stolen from The House of Hope, a fine bag of holding, and beginning to place potions and throwing devices inside of it. He was just beginning to wonder what weapon he should carry on his person, when there was a timid knock at his door. With a sigh of annoyance, he set his things aside and crossed the room, opening the door and giving the servant standing there a look that plainly said this disturbance better be important. The well dressed dwarf stammered anxiously before swallowing his fear and taking a deep breath.
“My lord, some of the um...the patriars that you've reached out to, some of them have sent meeting requests...The Jannaths have in fact sent an invitation to the theatre....Two tickets, in fact. Yourself and a companion. It seems they wish ask your advice on...” Enver couldn't help but roll his eyes. Of course the old fool and her clueless husband were all but under his thumb. That had been easy. Still, he supposed it would be best to put in an appearance and the illusion of being a useful 'friend of the family' for a bit longer, enough to grease the wheels on his way to a place of real power. Besides, it might be amusing to bring Sentry with him. It could be amusing to see the elder Lady Jannath realize what actually drew his attention, especially when she couldn't make a fuss about it without confessing to her husband. It would be an afternoon's amusement at least. Besides, Sentry would enjoy the artistry, it might, perhaps, inspire him. “Yes, good. I'll attend. Now leave me, I'm extraordinarily busy at the moment.” He waved the servant off, shutting the door in his face before he could protest or try and relate further duties and responsibilities to distract from tonight's important work. Enver approached his wardrobe and thumbed through fine jackets and robes, reaching all the way to the back. Another little trinket stolen from his 'adoptive father'. Raphael's best coat for visits home to Cania. It was lined with the heavy fur of a dire polar bear and enchanted with a warming spell from some of Mephistar's own resident wizards. The material was a rich deep red with that heavy white fur around the cuffs and collar and lining the inside. Along with the coat, he packed a pair of thick goggles that would shield his eyes and finally decided on a hand crossbow to carry with him. All of this, he packed into the bag of holding for the trip to The Devil's Fee. Sentry, meanwhile, was just finishing up today's work on 'The Feast' when he realized he ought to leave for The Devil's Fee. He'd read a bit about Cania while looking for inspiration for his paintings, but wasn't entirely sure what might be useful other than winter clothing and his faithful halberd. Then again, he supposed Enver would have planned for it, so with a shrug, he simply grabbed a rich purple coat lined with soft black fur from a displacer beast, the neck and cuffs trimmed with thicker black werewolf fur Sentry had decided to add himself from an early victim. He packed his usual satchel with art supplies and a few poisons and healing potions and stepped out of his room. Gabraela stopped him again, arms folded across her chest. Sentry raised a brow, matching her posture. The older tiefling pointed to Fel and gave Sentry a stern look.
“I was going to bring him. Gods, Gabraela.” He groaned. “Fel! We're off on quite an adventure tonight, you're up for it?” “Always ready and willing to go where I am needed, young master.” Fel bowed low. “Where will tonight's devious plot take us?” “Mephistar...well...hopefully...here's hoping it doesn't deposit us right in some snow drift in Cania where we'll absolutely freeze before we get anywhere near the glacier.” He shrugged. “My rotted master, are you sure you're dressed for the weather? Bundled up all nice and snug? Perhaps a hat...some gloves, maybe a scarf?” Fel suggested, hurrying after Sentry as the tiefling simply walked straight past him on the way to the door. “I'm fine. Now hurry up or we'll be late meeting up with Enver...do you remember which sewer grate lets out nearest the graveyard?” He asked, frowning as he tried to settle on a path once they were outside the temple.
