hi guys. i didn't expect my original post to blow up like it did, but thanks! i know it's been like a few weeks since my last post wondering about my girlfriend's questionable eating habit but i finally have an answer!

so last night, we had dinner over at my apartment and as usual, she didn't finish her burger. so i (once again) asked her but this time i tried guessing why she never finishes her food. using the theories about siblings sharing and the bad luck one and all that were commented by you guys.

she laughed and finally admitted the real reason:

she feels guilty and sad when she finishes a food she really enjoys (or just food in general).

my girlfriend said that finishing the last bite makes her feel like she's saying goodbye to it forever. so she kind of just leaves the last bite as a coping mechanism. (and the reason why she never tells me is because she's embarrassed of it)

i found it to be so cute and so ridiculous. we made a deal that from now on, i'll eat her last bite so it doesn't go to waste. she said it'll make her feel better knowing the food gets a proper send-off.

anyway, thanks to everyone who commented and replied! turns out, i'm just dating someone who is emotionally attached to her food, and not a girl who performs strange food ritual (i don't think i mind that either). i think i just fall in love for the nth time. thanks guys, again.

Been battling anxiety and depression myself for many years and even the psychiatrist who I went to see because I was spiraling some years ago, dismissed my symptoms because I was young and "I had nothing to be depressed about". Oh and roasted me as well,lol. I feel exact same way now post-grad. I think thats why I felt like I could relate to Luigi. I'm just finding different methods to numb the brain. Its so devastating to see so many of our generation feel the same way and yet we still feel alone, because the people around us seem to not understand. Hihi welcome to nikkiverse :] This is quite a long reply, thats y it took me so long to get to ya.

I summarised the 7 nations and their respective styles/names across the franchise, and included a link to a more in depth explanation of the nations of Miraland if you feel like doin research- but then i saw that post had a much better and much more succinct TLDR than i made oops. So i ll keep what i wrote but if u dont feel like readin it, just go to the reddit.

I'll give you a v brief overview of the other games too, thats y im tryna save u from my rambling lol- it aint over once u get past the nations pfft. Put it under a readmore cuz it was gettin looong

Ninir/lilith/Heartcraft kingdom: cutesy and/or fairytale-esque designs. Most people call it Lilith, from Love nikki. I can see why they started with Lilith, it s the most "whimsical" of the bunch, and they love that word. Its true that there's been a good amount of Lilith-styled suits released so far, but there's a decent amount of apple and north and now we have cloud styles too- hold on,

Apple Federation/Starhail Federation- It's basically modern styles, and anythin that doesnt quite fit into the rest of the nations. Styles are very varied and range from Regular Girl from Class to Worlds Most Overdesigned Gacha Character (and they fuck hard). The trend is just that the clothes are inspired by (relatively) modern fashion trends.

Cloud/Linglang empire- chinese/east asian traditional clothing. Devs loove cloud, ofc they do, bcs theyre a chinese company. If ur into this style too, ur in for a wonderful time playin these games buddy

North kingdom/ Empire of light: Millitary style, knights, soldiers, cool bitches w guns or just cool bitches in general (istg sometimes they put apple suits in north for no reason) oh also fluffy warm clothing. Its cold in the north after all. They dont get a lot of suits.

Pigeon/Twinmoon Kingdom: European style clothes, as well as religious inspos, and demons/angels (pigeon has always had some connection with the church). Academia, steampunk, uhh idk victorian clothing etc. U get the vibe yea?

Wasteland/Terra Alliance: Racism land. Or more accurately, whatever seems "exotic" to devs, they throw it in there. Ancient egyptian, middle east, indian, uhh idk dreamcatchers r wild right? Put that in there. they have some native american ones too and yeah they re all pretty questionable. Wasteland doesn't have a great reputation. Idk if infinikki will be better about this, but when u throw half the planet's traditional clothing styles into a mixer you re already doin somethin wrong imo

Ruin island/Whale port: Futurism babey. Wires and glowy things and tech and robots n shit. Pretty simple really

Here s the reddit post. Very helpful, a Nikkiverse veteran that explains the world of Miraland for people just getting into it in Infinikki. I just realised at the very bottom of their post, there's a much more compact TLDR of the nations than I cooked up.... coulda saved me a lotta trouble writing it and you a lotta trouble reading it...

So. In the other games (Love/Shining Nikki) we get whatever style the devs feel like throwing at us. Sometimes there s craftable ones related to the main story thus the location we're in. But in Infinity Nikki it's slightly different.

We are Not region locked in terms of aesthetics- as i said, we got Apple and North style clothes as well as stuff from Cloud, alongside the cutesy Lilith style clothing. A lot has been "Lilith Kingdom coded" as you put it, because we are in Lilith equivalent. (I Think we have some Pigeon coded stuff too- but sometimes Apple/Lilith/Pigeon's styles blur together a bit)

However, i d guess it's gonna be some time before we get Ruin style suits, let alone Wasteland- they're already the least popular in devs minds, they have the least amount of suits in every single game so far. So ima guess we're only half region locked, but not at all completely stuck with bows and frills.

Now, I don't really know if you're currently Playin any of the games. Ima guess infinikki is ur gateway drug?

Love Nikki is a lot of people's first Nikki game. 2D and incredibly detailed, it's been running for- close to 10 years now. It's Old, and feels old, and isn't very friendly to newcomers- but if you get past it's clunk you'll get the most robust 2D dress up experience there is. Except that yes, we have bunch of skintones, but none of them work with 99% of makeups..... devs have a bad track record with diversity.

Shining Nikki is the new shiny (ha) 3D game that got a global release in 2021. I was there day 1 i was so fuckin hyped for it- and it does it's job damn well. Much more intuitive and more f2p friendly than Love Nikki, but it will fry your phone. Monkey's paw curls.

And Infinity Nikki is "what if Sn was open world" except that we're not even in the same world as Sn do nvm.... Clothes are every bit as detailed as in Sn, and i'll stop here cuz my guess is that ur comin from here. If sn fries ur phone tho, infinikki destroys it- cant really enjoy the beautiful dresses unless u got a nasa phone or play on pc. If u can tho, it's the most straightforward of the bunch in terms of gameplay- really made for beginners of the franchise.

Soo pick ur poison, or play all 3 if ur insane. Read the main story, or don't, make pretty outfits, save diamonds so u can get more pretty clothes to make pretty outfits with- now Nikki has cemented herself in your life. You can never leave. You will wake up in a cold sweat at 12 am thinkin "oh fuck shit i didnt do my dailies-"

That is to say, remember these are all gacha games, Infinikki being the purest form of them 3. Thus, they all have inherently predatory monetization. Be conscious of it and spend responsibly if you choose to do so. It's not necessary per se, i haven't spent in love nikki in- 3 or so years i think? (I got mad at devs so i did my own lil boycott lol- long story,) and ever since sn came out, i think i gave em like, 60? 80? I dont remember. Its a lot when put in plain numbers, but when i think this was across 4 years, it makes me feel better lol.

And well, i think these are the essentials to know- honestly, the whole nations stuff isn t even needed to get started, but you asked specifically about it, so i gave u the rundown. Nikkiblr is a much smaller community than others, but it's cozy in here- hope u stick around~

okay so origin story: i only found my way back to RWBY in 2022 after I came back from the hospital. naturally I engaged with rwby reddit first (i grew up with reddit, not tumblr) and the artist that I found myself really liking was 🥁🥁🥁 @lesbianneopolitan eventually i tried to find more art from her and stumbled over her tumblr that also led to me joining the cinder simps server (shoutout to my G's (gays)) because of an invite she had reblogged from the owner and after meeting so many people on there, I decided to make a tumblr blog myself and here we are lmao

Pyrrha is similar, except instead of hiding her emotions, she places her own wants, needs and passions below others (theres this post that got really big about how some trans women live in a way where it feels like theyre trying to see how little it takes for a person to stay alive and *ahem* same)

hey, thanks for stopping by!! I definitely know what you mean with regards to SQQ, but I will assure you that there are very much still plenty of dedicated "sqq mains" out there. My sphere of influence on twitter is heavily biased toward people for whom sqq is their favourite character, so maybe I'm not getting a representative sample of the fandom overall, but he's definitely a very well loved character and has more than his fair share of people who do him justice in their writing and for whom he's their primary blorbo!! I remember posting this on reddit a while back and more than half of the responses (though admittedly a small sample size) had him as their fave. So, I don't think he's without appreciation!

But with that said, I do get where you’re coming from. I’m not gonna talk about readers who take his actions in bad faith and actively dislike him (HOW??), but as you’ve said, even among people who do like him, we don’t always understand him as well as we could. Most fans do get on some level that he’s an unreliable narrator, but it’s still very common for people to take him at face value and completely miss his depth. He’s a funny little guy with amusing narration, but he’s also kind and selfless, and he’s also smart and witty, and obnoxious and annoying, and frankly pretty insensitive, and deeply, deeply traumatised—and a million other things! He has layers.

I think all popular characters in fandom will inevitably start getting boiled down to a few key traits. And as somebody who’s been writing fic for 15 years, it’s really hard not to let your own biases colour your portrayal? I absolutely do it with SQQ!! I focus on his kinder, warmer aspects and downplay his flaws, I’ll readily admit that. We all get drawn to a favourite character for a certain trait, and that trait becomes the grit around which our interpretations form. If you’re somebody that likes silly characters, you’re going to write SQQ and dial his silliness up to eleven. If you like kind characters, you’ll write SQQ with emphasis on his kindness. None of these traits are OOC in and of themselves, but if you start to only read fanfic and don’t revisit the source material, you can get lost in what’s popular and forget all the depth that actually made them interesting in the first place. And once you’ve grown attached to a particular version of the characters in your head, it can be really hard to let go of it. I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I'll add that I think protagonists are just particularly prone to this happening because they're usually the one the audience relates to most.

Idk if any of that really addresses the stuff you were talking about. You mentioned dom top Binghe/pillow princess sqq and to be honest I’m kind of reluctant to talk about this in depth because I’ve received negative comments in the past for supposedly being anti-bottom Binghe, when all I’ve ever said on this matter is that I think it’s a bit weird to insist that “I’m scared of hurting you so I might as well let you do it” is proof that Binghe is canonically a bottom. The fact that someone found that statement so threatening to their view of the characters that they would go to my ao3 page, click on the first fic they saw that happened to feature bottom SQQ and leave their holier-than-thou anonymous opinion there is just bizarre to me.

To be honest tho, it tends to be Binghe characterisation that puts me off moreso than Shen Qingqiu. The only SQQ characterisation that truly bothers me is when people write him as willing to hurt Binghe, or willing to do anything with underage Binghe, but there is a LOT of Binghe stuff that I’m sensitive too. Idk if you read this thread of mine but like, even my friends whom I love make “Binghe stalking/imprisoning/"atticwifing" SQQ” jokes and these bother me way more than any random stranger saying SQQ would get off on spanking Binghe.

And like, it’s kind of hard because objectively, Binghe is a very dark character, so it doesn't feel particularly OOC to say he would do those things, but it's about framing. It bothers me when the emphasis is on how fucked up he is and not how hard he's trying, because it implies a level of futility that I just don’t think is there in canon. To me the beauty of him is in how much doing right by SQQ doesn't come naturally to him, but he ultimately decides to do it anyway because he wants SQQ to be happy. (I feel it needs to be said that I don't mean this in a judgy "if you write dark Binghe you don't understand him and are a bad person" way. Just that I myself can't handle that, and I strongly disagree if you think it's where Bingqiu's relationship is headed).

but idk, I've found my corner and I'm very happy here. I actually don't read fic as often as you'd think, mostly because I am sooooo picky, so I totally get where you're coming from :) but the fandom is still decently sized and very diverse, so there are always going to be at least a few people who share your feelings, if you can find them!

ive been really interested in reading fanfic by published authors lately, and recently i found the account where the author naomi novik (who i think is very talented and whose books i have read two of) has posted fic from the late 1990s to literally this year (over 500 fics), and its like . these fics are such perfect examples of their kind. im fascinated by the depth thats added to the characters i recognize, but im also deeply amused by the stereotypical way that characters are mischaracterized, and ive been going thru old livejournal posts from novik as well. my original goal when looking for published authors' fic was to find holly black's old handles so i could look up what she was writing in the late 90s and early oughts but i havent been able to track it down....so disappointing. ive found a few pdfs of c*ssandra cl*re's work too (censored bc shes on tumblr) but since its all hp stuff i have very little interest in it. it is, however, very funny to see the origins of the writing styles that you see in the published work....

the most interesting part of reading novik's fanfic is seeing the care with which she treats female characters, making them way more complex than they are in the source material, which is also very evident in the way she wrote the main characters of original work spinning silver and uprooted. i also found transcripts of the very amusing drama that novik was involved in a while back on a reddit ama, wherein she was asked why, even though her fic is majority m/m slash fic and is mostly explicit, she hasnt written an original story featuring gay men. her main reason was that she typically leaves it up to the interpretation of the readers, letting them draw their own conclusions, but there was some messiness to her phrasing that didnt lend to a favorable reasoning and which garnered her some distrust in fandom spaces. however, this mainly just interested me, and didnt have any negative impact on the way she writes or what she writes about.

this is all to say that im proud of the fact that i was posting fic in 2012 on fanfiction dot net, and where i used to feel a lot of shame about it because of various forces in my life, i now have more respect for this tradition within the last two generations of writers lol ive never been particularly interested in the way that fandoms interact with each other but im deeply fascinated by the way you can analyze people based on what they write and how their voice comes thru ...

i'm going back to what 16 year old me used to do in full swing i think. type to myself on dead forums. wanna know a story about me? i used to post on that nazi reddit alternative website voat. for years. not anything political, i just made a subreddit that was my username and made posts everyday about how obsessed i was about a girl called rebekah in the grade above me. i never talked to her a single time in my life. she was just pretty. hundreds of posts. eventually randoms on the website found my posts through the new section and started commenting how creepy i was. and then i guess i referred to myself as a waitress and they started thinking i was a girl who had a lesbian crush. of course i did nothing to disavow that notion. and then when i was with my friend finlay in class, i was on a school provided laptop, seeing what the suggested autocomplete web searches for a, b, c, etc were. and when i looked up 'v' it came up with 'voat [my username]. i guess on this laptop sometime before i had searched it up. i begged him not to look it up and deleted it all the moment i got home but he just went on internet archive and essentially held this blackmail over my head for about 3 months. at the end of high school finlay wasnt popualr in our group (there was always someone who was the cyberbullied person of the day in our group.) and i honestly did a fucking asshole thing. i always say that i was nice and just a victim of this mean group but i did this thing, which completely undoes all that. there was a barbeque for the entire grade on a saturday, school organised but essentually our own thing. in the discord finlay was wondering whether to come, lots of us were there already. i said that there was barely anyone here lol. and that was a complete lie. i lied and made him miss this event for no reason other than to dogpile on him. that night everyone was fighting and i chimed in and he told everyone about my voat account and also about how we had accidentally discovered each other in a league of legends erotic roleplay discord server. so yeah that was fun. i refused to talk to him for like 2 years lol. anyways. the point of this is to say. that im gonna start doing that again i think. post a bunch of stream of consciousness text posts of angst and self loathing and envy and hatred. cus i feel like shit and that's my self harm. im too much of a pussy to do anything else when i feel like shit. i just sit on the computer and make myself feel worse. this can be my self therapy. getting my thoughts out instead of letting them fester inside my brain forever. i can't be fucked going to therapy properly. it doesnt help cus idk how to articulate anything properly. ill get asked whats wrong and ill be like. i dont know. and honestly thats barely a lie. i dont fucking know whats wrong with me. i know that there is something wrong with me, but i dont know the reason why ive turned out like this. im just a fucking weirdo i think. i literally thought that i wasnt a creep anymore after transitioning, that i figured it out. but nope. im still a fucking creep, thinking about girls that i know, obsessing about them. urgh. i feel like. i've fucked my transition up. i fucked up the choices that i didn't know were choices and now im someone i don't want to be. i just want to be someone else but thats not possible because the person that i am, currently, isn't someone that can be someone else. i know that you can just change who you are ! you can do new things and stop doing old things. you can be someone else. but i just cant. i try but i just always circle back to this. uninteresting blob of a person. who does nothing except sit in their room and wish they were someone else. an uninteresting blob of envy. that's all i am and will ever be, i feel. and that sucks. i dont want to be that, but there's nothing else i can do about that. im too uninteresting and unadventurous and afraid to reach out and form connections to people that i wanna. cus thats how you change as a person. by being with other people. you slowly give each other parts of yourself

I love her and hate to see the negative media attention drawn, and im sure she fared no better under a predatory conservatorship... but look through the whole ig and tell me she is not posting like a mentally ill person

okay for one, i cant say for sure what a mentally ill person posts like because im not a professional, and thats what some ppl who are speculating arent understanding. second, a lot of people are just seeing one snippet of what she’s doing (dance routine) and judging her based on that alone even though dancing is basically what she’s done for her entire life. im willing to say most of the people reacting to her vids like she’s crazy are just basing it off that alone. thirdly (lol is that the right phrasing) i do know what you mean because i’ve read some of her posts on instagram that seem incoherent but i saw someone on reddit (lol again) kind of parcel her words into something that made sense (sorta translating it) and it made me realize that a lot of those long winded paragraphs she writes are actually conveying a coherent thought, but maybe not typed out as coherently as you or i may do it, which makes sense considering she only started writing her own posts like yesterday and she’s not a teenager who grew up on instagram or smthn. okay fourthly, i think it isnt for the sake of her mental health that strangers on social media + actual media outlets are posting out of context videos of her dancing and speculating about her mental state, i think its done selfishly and without care for the climate theyre creating around her public image. like i said, ppl speculating that she is “unhinged” are really just feeding into the same narrative that her parents and family used to control her decisions for her entire life. i mean we all know she’s been thru some shit, so im sure she has mental health issues. but there’s a difference between actually caring VS freaking out saying she is unhinged because she’s doing a dance routine w knives
