Excerpt from this story from Hakai Magazine:
In March 2024, about a dozen scientists and crew members ventured into the Gulf of Mexico armed with an underwater rover, crab traps, and other research kit. Led by Craig McClain, a deep-sea biologist at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the team set out to study the site where, on April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, killing 11 workers and setting off one of the worst environmental disasters in US history.
It was McClainâs third trip to the disasterâs ground zero, and despite the 14 years that have elapsed, he found that wildlife surrounding the exploded wellhead was still suffering. The absence of life is noticeable, says McClain, and what is there doesnât seem healthy.
Unlike other wrecks, which tend to become habitats for marine species over time, the sunken Deepwater Horizon has remained comparatively sterile. Organisms that typically inhabit the Gulfâs seafloorâsuch as sea cucumbers, giant isopods, corals, and sea anemonesâare simply missing, says McClain. Perhaps more concerning are the crabs. Naturally red, the crabs McClain and his team pulled up in their traps were tinted an oily black; many were also missing legs, while others had lesions.
When disaster first struck, scientists and locals couldnât help but notice the mass die-offs of dolphins, pelicans, oysters, and other marine species. But as the years have rolled on, many of the remediation efforts meant to clean up the spillâwhich coated the Gulf in four million barrels of oilâhave been focused on land.
âWhen we have a disaster like this,â says Mark Benfield, a Louisiana State University oceanographer and participant in the recent expedition, âitâs easy to look at the beautiful clear blue waterâit was gorgeous out thereâand say everything looks good.â On the seafloor, however, the improvements have been incremental at best.
For those who embarked on the most recent expedition, the dire sight has them questioning how the Gulf will fare in the future. âWe may not actually ever see recovery,â says McClain. Each trip to the wellhead comes with âa lot of mixed emotions,â he says. âItâs always sobering, no matter how productive the trip is.â

Hypnotic Poison Eau De Parfum The QUINTESSENCE of sensuality.
â
Dior Addict Lip Tint (fav tints: 771 & 661 though I can't find her anywhere anymore đ„Č) I use it for blush as well!
â
Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation This is the only foundation that doesn't feel heavy on my skin. When looking for the right fondation in general I recommend going to places like Galleries Lafayette or Macy's, they have the perfect lighting for shade matching. I think they also tend to be more knowledgeable if you're into subtle "clean girl" make up.
â
Dior Addict Lip Glow This is honestly supper hydrating. It's actually very pigmented so I prefer the 000 Universal Clear one to avoid looking like a clown.
â
Miss Dior Rose N' Roses My favourite Rose perfume! I'm currently wearing this and I feel like this is a scent you can't go wrong with. It also doesn't trigger my allergies which is the main reason why I tend to stray away from rose perfumes.
â
Versace Woman The bottle is not the cutest but it smells so good!! To me it smells like youth and pleasure. It smells like birthday cake self care.
â
Carmex Baume Ă LĂšvres Hydratant et Apaisant Its available pretty much everywhere! There's no better lip balm in my opinion.

My Hamilton Review
So I had the ability to go see Hamilton in Dallas recently and oh god, it was lovely! Everyone was wonderful and a few interesting takes in this production really stood out to me in the most lovely ways!
The cast I saw was:
Hamilton- Blaine Alden Krauss
Burr- Deon'te Goodman
Eliza- Kendyl Sayuri Yokoyama
Angelica- Lencia Kebede
Peggy/Maria- Milika Cheree
Lafayette/Jefferson- Jared Howelton
Laurens/Phillip- Tyler Fauntleroy
Mulligan/Madison-Eddie Ortega
Washington-Carvens Lissaint
King George-Paul Louis Lessard
HIGHLIGHTS!:
Okay, right out the gate, a lot of the cast had more R&B voices, including Hamilton and I genuinely loved this. Washington and Angelica had the most beautiful control when it came to their voices and it was just gorgeous to hear them every time they were singing. And Lissaint as Washington had some booming growl to his voice that just absolutely grabbed and held onto your focus during Right Hand Man and just the most perfect soul like riffs during History Has Its Eyes On You and of course One Last Time.
The biggest differences in character portrayal were Hamilton and Burr, but I really liked these takes.
Krauss played Hamilton as angry. And I don't mean like quick to anger, but really has angry moments with everyone in his life, including anger towards Eliza when she explains she wrote to Washington that she was pregnant but not Alexander. But it also created some beautiful 'calm down' moments as well. When Washington calls him back, he plays Alexander as hesitant to leave Eliza while she's pregnant, even bends down to kiss her belly before he leaves. Just a beautiful touch. He played young, scrappy, playful Hamilton so well, I wondered if he'd sell the older version in Act 2 and he really did, he slides into it slowly. Makes his voice quieter, more gravelly as the descent starts and it's just so beautiful the way he progresses.
Goodman plays Burr as reserved, but you can feel this constantly simmering resentment towards Hamilton the whole way. This is less charismatic than Leslie plays him, but again, it works for Goodman's portrayal. He still gets loud during the right parts, goes full tilt during The Room Where It Happens . But his anger, his emotions are cagey, like you are waiting for the last straw to break the camels back and its goooooooood when he finally snaps in Obedient Servant. He makes you wait for that moment all musical and it delivers in the last two confrontation songs.
Howelton also has a slightly different portrayal of Jefferson. He has the same physicality and charm that Daveed has, but he has this wonderful deep gravel to his voice that made him sound older, and he leaned more into the limp in What'd I Miss? Daveed always seemed like his Jefferson was around the same age as Hamilton, but Howelton acts and sounds like he is the appropriate decade older and it really works, I constantly thought he was looking at Alexander like a yappy puppy he had to deal with and I really loved it.
Lessard as King George chewed on every song and scene he was in and I giggled at parts of the songs I've never reacted to before. XD He was a delight and we all cheered every time he returned to stage. I would love to see this man as the King every time if I could!
Goofy Notes:
EVERYONE besides Washington and Angelica are shorter than Hamilton in this production. I about wheezed when Jefferson and Hamilton square up in the first Cabinet Battle and Jefferson had to crane his neck to look up at a fucking smirking Hamilton, who had to look down at him. It was like a hilarious au reality and it made me giggle every time they stood close enough to notice. Eliza also only came to Hamilton's shoulder and he had to bend fully at the waist to kiss or hug her, but that man dipped her like a fairy tale prince to kiss her in Helpless. I bought that man loved her!
Stage Direction Differences:
The most differences in stage direction all happen in Take A Break, and I ate up this entire song because it was so different. It's all about the same till we get to the first 'take a break'. Hamilton buries the letter from Angelica. Not just covers it, he pulls various papers and opens a book to start writing in ontop of it, boy knows he is doing wrong in the letters. He's adorably affectionate with Phillip, softly affectionate with Eliza's plea for him to go with them.
Then Angelica shows up, and it's not the soft/nervous 'hi' Lin does. It's a giddy 'hiiii' and arms spread wide with 'gimme' hand gestures before Angelica even gets to him, wraps her up in his arms, etc. The back and forth between Eliza, Angelica and Alexander is very playful after that as well. During the 'tell this man/tell my wife' exchange, they stage Angelica in between Eliza and Alexander, having the married couple do a playful game of telephone with the eldest Schuyler. Alexander even taps Angelica on the shoulder before the 'Angelica tell my wife' line. It's fun and dangerous. Another change is how Alexander responds to the sisters making their final plea for him to go with them. Lin has Alexander panic pull away from Angelica first. Krauss lets that anger/frustration show here instead. He snaps at them, emphasizing the losing his job line here and storms away. I really loved this scene. It boths leans heavy into the playful family and the emotional affair between Angelica and Alexander.
I might have thrown in my lot for some Lucky Seats to see this cast again before they leave...no shame!

Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur - Fan-fic.
Episode 1:
A HARE-NDOUS THIEF
One beautiful day, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur returned to the laboratory after a victorious day fighting crime.  ̶ Phew! Productive day, right Devil?  ̶ said Moon Girl, taking off her superhero costume to become Lunella Lafayette. The red dinosaur responded with a confident and cheerful grunt.Â Â Ì¶Â ÂĄClaro que sĂ, chica!  ̶ replied a well-pleased Casey  ̶ After thwarting yet another bank robbery, your approval rating is positively solidified. Casey showed her friend Lunella the phone screen displaying statistics on Moon Girl's official page. Looking at them, Lunella saw that everything seemed to indicate that users' esteem for her was now more than solidified. She thought of the adventures and challenges she had faced up to that point, and it felt like a century had passed since she had met Devil and Casey, since the first time she had worn the superhero costume, since her first victory. From there, she reflected on all her adventures, the difficult moments, the people she had helped. She felt fulfilled with it all, as well as with her life as a school genius.  ̶ After everything you've been through so far, I'd say nothing can go wrong for you  ̶ said Casey. And Lunella could only agree.
Later, on that same night ...
DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT CANNON â FUNCTIONS CEASED This message was what the control panel kept repeating as the pilot tried to manage the situation amid the loud alarms and simultaneously manoeuvre the spacecraft to dodge the shots from another hostile spacecraft. He did not understand what the problem was. He had suddenly found himself up against it while manoeuvring the spacecraft on a course to approach planet Earth. But they understood they had to stand their ground if they wanted to save their skin. He'd come a long way to go back home. He had no intention of giving up. So, moving the stick, the earthling pilot made an offensive manoeuvre to use the only cannon still in operation. The targeting system locks onto the target. The pilots of the respective spacecraft fired a volley of shots at each other. The adversary spacecraft took a hard shot to the engines, but the earth spacecraft suffered hits to its sides. Holes appeared in the walls inside the Earth spacecraft. But his assistant came to block them with whatever they could find. The spacecraft was almost ready for an emergency landing, but at least the Earth pilot had managed to slow down the hostile spacecraft. FAILING ENGINES â PREPARE FOR IMPACT repeated the control panel amidst the sharp sounds of the alarms. The spacecraft began to pick up speed as the temperature increased for impact with the atmosphere. The earth pilot's assistant found himself pressed against a wall due to gravity. The spacecraft delved deeper into the Earth's atmosphere, passing through the clouds until the emerged lands of the blue planet became visible. At one point, the distinctive shape of Northern America became evident before the pilot's eyes. Finally, He was about to come home after Devil only knows how much time away, although he wasn't sure if he and his little assistant would arrive in one piece. In the end, the spacecraft impacted the surface. The impact of the spacecraft on the ground left a gigantic crater. Everything was silent until a strong little arm raised the cockpit glass. The being that emerged carried the unconscious earth pilot on its shoulder. It was only a matter of time before someone arrived at the scene attracted by the deafening roar. So, he left with his companion on his shoulders.
The next day
At I.S. 833, the day was going on with classes and various activities. In the cafeteria, Lunella joined the S.T.E.M. club guys. Amidst the casual conversation, Jurnee came out with news:  ̶ Hey! Have you heard the news? ̶ No! What's up?  ̶ Eli asked. â This morning, on TV, they talked about a strange object, similar to a spaceship, that landed in the countryside near Albany. The impact on the ground and the poor condition of the spaceship made the investigators think it was an emergency landing! ̶ Interesting Jurnee!  ̶ Anand said.  ̶ But how can you say it's an object from space? ̶ From the images they showed on the news! It was clear that it was a spaceship! ̶ Wow!  ̶ Cecilia said.  ̶ It could have belonged to a being from an alien civilization! ̶ Yeah, well, I don't believe that  ̶ Anand said.  ̶ It's more likely that it's a spaceship belonging to some Earth astronaut! ̶ It could be as you say, Anand  ̶ Eli said. ̶ Yes, but from the news on TV, it seems that the spaceship was empty at the time of the discovery  ̶ Jurnee said. ̶ How strange!  ̶ Lunella said  ̶ Which surviving astronaut from an emergency landing would abandon the vehicle and disappear? ̶ Say what you want  ̶ Anand said  ̶ but this story seems far-fetched for me. ̶ Oh, yeah?  ̶ Jurnee replied.  ̶ Then take a look here. She took out her cellphone, accessed the news site, scrolled through a social media page, found what interested her among millions of posts and then showed the phone to her peers. On the girl's screen phone, the images of the damaged spaceship found by the investigators, taken directly from that morning's newscast, were playing. Lunella watched the video with the others, as surprised as everyone in the S.T.E.M. Club. It was not surprising that such news had spread so quickly. It could not have been just an emergency landing. For the rest of the day, Lunella continued to think about that spaceship. The shape of that spaceship suggested to her that it couldn't have come from Earth. But not even from a Kree spaceship. And if there had been an alien in there? What intentions would it have? Good or bad? These and other thoughts filled Lunella's mind for quite a while until she was brought back to reality by her grandma Mimi just in time for dinner. After an initial embarrassment, Lunella reassured her family, and everything proceeded as usual. Whatever had arrived on Earth was certainly nothing that Moon Girl couldn't handle. This was the thought with which Lunella concluded the day.

Purdue's Best Kept Secrets
Purdue is a prestigious university, well known for churning out top-notch engineers and astronauts. Thatâs not what itâs been to me. Growing up, itâs just been where my dad works. A super nerdy school for super nerdy people. A place that I was never going to attend. Turns out it is exactly the school I would end up attending. Iâm glad it turned out that way because now I know there is so much more to Purdue University. Thereâs a lot that the tours donât tell you. Purdue has some of the best kept secrets and Iâm going to share them with you.
Firstly, Iâd like to expand your perception of Purdue's alumni for a moment. Youâve probably heard of Niel Armstrong and Amelia Arhart. But have you heard of the horticulturist Jules Janick? He invented many disease-resistant apples and gave them fun names like The Enterprise, Pixie Crunch, and GoldRush. What about the home economist Ruth Siems, the inventor of Stove Top stuffing? Perhaps youâve heard of some more recent alumni such as Nickey Ramsey? While she was still an undergrad founded Junobie which sells storage products for breastfeeding mothers. Maybe youâve of Ethan Hirsh, the founder of BarrelSense? Purdue churns out all types of inventors and entrepreneurs across industries - not just engineers. Of course, to create a variety of alumni they need a variety of resources for their students. I'm going to be talking about the lesser known resources.
Nickey Ramsey, founder of Junobi and Shark Tank contestant
Ethsn Hirsh, founder of BarrelSense
Did you know that Purdue offers free courses? Thatâs right! If youâve ever been interested in learning programing, 3D modeling, or electronics, there are free courses you can take called Milestone courses. You even get a certificate at the end. I've always wanted to learn 3D modeling but struggled to teach myself and I definitely didn't want to spend money on another course on top of my tuition. I took this free 3D modeling course and it was a lot of fun. Now I have another skill under my belt I didnât have to pay a dime.
This is a beautiful airplane that I created in the 3D Modeling class.
If you prefer to teach yourself how to make things, there are many maker spaces around Purdue. Just last year, The Knowledge Lab opened in WALC. This space provides everything a creative could want from Arduino parts, to sewing machines, to cardboard, to a podcast booth, to a sticker printer. Thatâs just scratching the surface of what they have to offer! If you want to make anything you can make it in the Knowledge Lab. They also offer free workshops to learn.
An outside show of the Knowledge Lab. All are welcome to use any of the materials and machines for free.
And thatâs not the only place on campus for creatives. There are several places where you can bring your ideas to life.
The Design Technology & Innovation Lab and 3D Printing Club are located on campus. The Creativity Lab is in the public library, walking distance from campus.
What if you need a break from all the learning and just want to have fun? A lot of people claim that thereâs nothing to do in the Midwest. Those people arenât looking close enough. Thereâs lots of different types of restaurants and establishments to explore. Here are some of my favorites:
Baked by Brittany - a bar/bakery/restaurant on the edge of campus
Great United Skates - a roller skating rink
Mission: Breakout Lafayette - an escape room
Baked by Brittany's raspberry cheesecake is to die for! They've also got other mini pies and giant cookies.
Great United Skates is a great place to relax and cruise to music. If you're lucky, you might get the whole rink to yourself.
Mission: Breakout Lafayette offers coupons to anyone who can solve their puzzle in the lobby.
However, I'm only one girl. What do other students believe Purdue's best-kept secrets are? I went around and asked a few of them.
The Purdue campus is big. The surrounding town is even bigger. The best way to discover Purdue's secrets is to go exploring yourself. To get you started, hereâs a map of some of my favorite places.
Have fun exploring! Boiler up!

In a recent interview, Olivier Bron, CEO of Bloomingdaleâs, highlighted some critical challenges facing the American department store sector today. With a career that spans reputable institutions like Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Central Group in Thailand, Bron has an outsiderâs perspective on the traditional American retail landscape. His insights reveal that rather than a full reinvention, what these establishments need is a deeper connection with customers and a more dynamic alignment with brand partners. Bron asserts that a pivotal issue confronting retailers like Bloomingdaleâs is an overemphasis on immediate financial returns. âWeâve lost the element of inspiration over the last 30 years,â he remarked. The relentless pursuit of profits, often driven by Wall Street pressures, has diverted attention from enhancing the customer experience, investing in exceptional service, and providing fresh, innovative offerings. To counteract this trend, department stores must rediscover their core purpose. At its essence, a department store like Bloomingdaleâs is designed to be a rich environment of variety, beauty, and elegance, where customers can explore an array of products. Yet, the modern shopper craves more than a straightforward retail experience; they yearn for inspiration. Bron emphasizes the importance of fostering a sense of discovery through unique collaborations and themed events that create unforgettable shopping experiences. Since assuming leadership, Bron has initiated a growth strategy named âDream Big.â This strategy focuses on updating Bloomingdaleâs stores to meet local market demands while investing in strong relationships with vendors. It encourages incremental improvements such as more vibrant shop-in-shop designs and the inclusion of smaller, emerging brands that can invigorate the storeâs offer. For instance, ongoing campaigns like "From Italy With Love" illustrate his approach. This campaign includes in-store events involving over 150 brand partners, showcasing exclusive products and immersive experiences for shoppers. The role of Bloomingdaleâs within the broader landscape of its parent company, Macy's Inc., cannot be underestimated. Retail analysts suggest that Bloomingdaleâs accounts for approximately 12% of Macy's overall revenue, contributing nearly $3 billion in sales. As Macy's consolidates its physical footprint, closing underperforming stores, Bloomingdaleâs plans to open 15 new locations, including smaller formats and outlets. In light of the recent consolidation trends in the luxury department store sector, Bron's timing is essential. The merger of major players such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus signifies a pivotal moment in retail history. If executed successfully, Bronâs vision could position Bloomingdaleâs as a distinct and compelling option in a saturated market. As Janet Kloppenburg, a retail analyst, notes, Bloomingdaleâs unique identity as a fun and accessible brand sets it apart from its competitors, who may offer luxury but lack the entertainment factor. Furthermore, Bron is keen on winning back the trust of fashion brands that have moved away from traditional wholesale partnerships. He acknowledges the demographic shift among Bloomingdaleâs clientele, which tends to favor a less formal shopping atmosphere compared to high-end boutiques. To re-engage this consumer base, Bron has implemented personal shopping experiences, such as co-hosted events with brands like Saint Laurent, allowing top clients to engage directly with their favorite collections. In-store activations, a crucial element of Bronâs strategy, have already demonstrated significant impact. The extensive âFrom Italy With Loveâ campaign serves as a prime example, featuring large-scale promotional events and creatively designed displays that captivate customers from the moment they walk through the door. The innovative integration of culinary experiences, such as co-branded collaborations with popular local restaurants, adds further allure to the shopping environment.
Bronâs focus on enhancing the customer experience is paramount. He describes Bloomingdale's shopping atmosphere as intimate and inviting, aiming to eliminate any intimidation that shoppers might feel. His approach is deliberate, emphasizing a bottom-up strategy that tailors customer service and product offerings to meet the expectations specific to each storeâs location. Planned improvements to existing storesâranging from aesthetic upgrades in lighting and layout to substantial renovations in flagship locationsâsignal a strong commitment to modernizing the shopping experience. For instance, future developments in the flagship store on Manhattan's 59th Street will expand luxurious offerings, introduce new shop-in-shop concepts, and refresh entire departments. These ongoing advancements are designed not just to attract shoppers but to ensure they have an enjoyable and memorable shopping experience. âItâs not just about products, but the joy and pleasure of shopping,â asserts Bron, reinforcing that every aspect, from the store's exterior to the details inside, influences customer satisfaction. Under Olivier Bron's leadership, Bloomingdale's is striving to redefine the department store experience while remaining a critical player in the broader retail market. With innovative strategies and a customer-centric mindset, Bloomingdaleâs may very well lead the way in rejuvenating the American department store experience.

Milk of Lime 'Dozen'
âThe fly is marking a mundane and uninvited companion of our human life. Its sudden appearance evokes a strange sense of familiarity while carrying heavy symbolism for our fleeting existence. It is an animal on the fine line between revulsion and beauty. Portraying the black iridescent body of this seemingly profane insect repels and attracts the eye equally and is forgotten with one incidental gesture of our hand.â A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the making of this show. Your support means the world to us

Shopping coolest stores
Harrod's London Shopping coolest stores, best shopping stores in the world with also online websites, plus some useful quotes to better understand the human shopping philosophy. It is truly an amazing and special feeling when you see something beautiful in a shopping mall or online shopping site and you get it for yourself. I feel really proud and happy when I can buy some stuff for me. Shopping is no less than therapy. You might have heard people saying I have just had retail therapy. The kind of happiness, excitement, and satisfaction that comes with shopping is real and undeniable. Shopping enables you to try new brands and products and have many new experiences. Also, consumer demand increases the competition in the market, which contributes to the growth of economic activities. Governments are deemed to succeed or fail by how well they make money go round, regardless of whether it serves any useful purpose. They regard it as a sacred duty to encourage the countryâs most revolting spectacle: the annual feeding frenzy in which shoppers queue all night, then stampede into the shops, elbow, trample and sometimes fight to be the first to carry off some designer junk which will go into landfill before the sales next year. The madder the orgy, the greater the triumph of economic management. George Monbiot Happiness is not in money but in shopping. Marilyn Monroe
Galeries Lafayette Paris For me, shopping is a way to unwind. Stacey Dooley Shopping is my cardio. Carrie Bradshaw I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist. Tammy Faye Bakker I need these cashmere gloves because itâs winter⊠and I have hands. Rebecca Bloomwood I love shopping. There is a little bit of magic found in buying something new. It is instant gratification, a quick fix. Rebecca Bloom Christmas shopping! I can do all my Christmas shopping here! I know March is a bit early, but why not be organized? And then when Christmas arrives I wonât have to go near the horrible Christmas crowds. Sophie Kinsella
Destiny Usa New York Shopping is better than sex. If youâre not satisfied after shopping, you can make an exchange for something you really like. Adrienne Gusoff Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice. Dave Barry I shop, therefore I am. Heather Chandler Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase. Erma Bombeck Show your confidence. Show youâre not afraid. Go to restaurants. Go shopping. Rudy Giuliani Men are like shoes. Some fit better than others. And sometimes you go out shopping and thereâs nothing you like. Janet Evanovich
Amazon store Buy what you donât have yet or what you really want, which can be mixed with what you already own. Buy only because something excites you, not just for the simple act of shopping. Karl Lagerfeld I love shopping. There is a little bit of magic found in buying something new. It is instant gratification, a quick fix. Rebecca Bloom I think, they should list shopping as a cardiovascular activity. My heart never beats as fast as it does when I see a reduced by 50 percentâ sign. Sophie Kinsella The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one. Erma Bombeck Recreational shopping is the shortest distance between two points: you and broke. Victoria Moran Shopping is actually very similar to farming a field. You canât keep buying the same thing, you have to have a bit of variety. Sophie Kinsella
Aliexpress store For some, shopping is an art; for others, itâs a sport. Pamela Klaffke The quickest way to know a woman is to go shopping with her. Marcelene Cox. Shopping is a bit of a relaxing hobby for me, which is sometimes troubling for the bank balance. Rebecca Hall I went window shopping today! I bought four windows. Tommy Cooper I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet. Carrie Bradshaw I did a lot of shopping for her in Tokyo because the colors here are very conservative. A shopaholic would have a coat in every color and lots of accessories. Sophie Kinsella
Milan fashion chamber Italy If a man doesnât fit, you canât exchange him seven days later for a gorgeous cashmere sweater. Rebecca Bloomwood The only consolation I had was buying things. If I bought some pretty thing it cheered me up for a while. Iris Murdoch Never give up on something you really want. However impossible things seem, thereâs always a way. Sophie Kinsella One good thing about Christmas shopping is it toughens you for the January sales. Grace Kriley There are 17 more shopping days until Christmas. So, guys, that means 16 more days till we start shopping, right? Conan OâBrien Christmas is the time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Richard Lamm
Christmas markets in the world Style Strategy is about shopping smart, staying chic, and making it all last. Itâs about showing women how to shop for value without compromising style. Nina Garcia From a commercial point of view, if Christmas did not exist it would be necessary to invent it. Katharine Whitehorn Xmas Trivia: Before it became a major shopping holiday, Christmas is believed to have had a âreligiousâ meaning. Andy Borowitz Iâm a last-minute shopper. I end up at the mall or somewhere on Christmas Eve. Itâs a shame. Brad Paisley If I have free time, I want to go to the beach, walk around a shopping mall, go grocery shopping. Live a little bit of life. James Wan I still believe in the Holy Trinity, except now it's Target, Trader Joe's, and IKEA.â Jen Lancaster
Best Chinese Watches They said I was a valued customer, now they send me hate mail.â Sophie Kinsella Shopping is really complicated if you are a girl. Helen Salter I've no idea when I'm going to wear it, the girl replied calmly. I only knew that I had to have it. Once I tried it on, well... She shrugged. The dress claimed me. Isabel Wolff Whoever said that money canât buy happiness simply didnât know where to go shopping. Bo Derek Women usually love what they buy, yet hate two-thirds of what is in their closets. Mignon McLaughlin If men liked shopping, they'd call it research. Cynthia Nelms
Original T-shirts When I shop, the world gets better, and the world is better, but then it's not, and I need to do it again. Sophie Kinsella For in some ways the world was like a shopping centre, and he himself was a doubtful customer, often ineffectual, being talked into buying things he didn't want, things indeed which nobody in their right mind would want to buy. Margaret Mahy The saving of money is usually the delaying of the wasting of money. Mokokoma Mokhonoana Once a culture becomes entirely advertising friendly, it seizes to be a culture at all. Mark Crispin Miller Always be polite to possible murderers: that was the twenty-four-hour-shopping philosophy. Kate Griffin Hanging onto a bad buy will not redeem the purchase.â Terence Conran
Diagonal Mar Barcelona The wise find pleasure in using a product until it is no longer usable; the foolish, in replacing an old but still usable product with a brand new one.â Mokokoma Mokhonoana COVID-19 may be the final nail in the coffin of the traditional store model as the isolated people of the world switch to internet shopping. Steven Magee Shopping: one of my favorite pastimes. Adrienne Posey Therapy is a good grocery store. Adrienne Posey When deciding what to buy, remember that some things are easy to buy - but then we have to use them. If they're not used, they don't enhance our lives; they just contribute to guilt and clutter. Gretchen Rubin In this era of oversupply and super-abundance in fashion, one doesnât need more. Well, definitely not more of things...whereas we all could use MORE of wisdom, education and ethics of consumption. Anastacia Plastinina
The Rockefeller Center New York The need for social interaction ... is very much a part of why women shop. All our interviewees commented at some point that social interaction was part of the shopping experience. Stella Minahan ...I get home and there's a box on my front porch. My serotonin surges and Jeff Bezos is a rich man because he knows how much we all just love to get a present, even if it's a present we bought for ourselves. Caroline Kepnes If shopping helps them to forgive you, I think you won't find an easier and cheaper way to be forgiven. Sarvesh Jain Happiness is not having what you love, it is loving what you have. Amit Kalantri Paying or having paid for something often makes it seem necessary; or better, more important, or more useful than it is. Mokokoma Mokhonoana I hate department stores. They're too bright, too loud, and too crammed full of junk that nobody needs. Whenever I'm forced to spend time in one I start thinking about how consumer culture is just one long, expensive, planet-killing distraction from the fact that we're all going to die eventually. Karen M. McManus
Black Friday Shopping Our caring about what others think about us is one of the pillars of the economy. Mokokoma Mokhonoana When unmoderated materialism is the world's norm, consumer is the product, product does the consuming.â Abhijit Naskar During the shopping process, Amazonâs AI offers suggestions of items that it predicts you will want to buy. The AI does a reasonable job. However, it is far from perfect. In our case, the AI accurately predicts what we want to buy about 5 percent of the time. We actually purchase about one of every twenty items it recommends. Considering the millions of items on offer, thatâs not bad! Ajay Agrawal Happiness is all too often pursued through the use of a credit card. Mokokoma Mokhonoana For most people who board, the experience of shopping or acquiring is so overwhelmingly rewarding that it erases all thoughts of consequences. Randy O. Frost Consumerism is based on the illusion that you can fill spiritual or emotional emptiness with physical products. Mokokoma Mokhonoana
Cyber Monday Shopping Just because you purchased something costly doesnât mean you have to use it every day to feel its worth. Sarvesh Jain There are two ways to shop, one is to try until you find exactly what youâre looking for. Or second, find something that feels good and hope that youâll like it along the way.
