Dark Side Of The Ring - Bash at the Beach 2000
Vince Russo, Eric Bischoff, & Hulk Hogan made out of fool of Jeff Jarrett. Yet, Bischoff & Hogan never like Russo, and the other way around. What a joke, and no wonder why Jim Cornette, never like Russo in the first place, Because he was a prick.

I always feel like I wasn’t that into wrestling… until I spend hours watching wrestling documentaries and old footage and remember that I actually have quite strong opinions on it and I’ve somehow retained a lot of knowledge that I’ve apparently buried

PJO SERIES HOT TAKES/UNPOPULAR
OPINIONS. Sorry if I offend anyone, it's just an opinion. NO HATE I LOVE RICK AND THE ACTORS 💙(I just don't like Disney directing tbh)
The Athena kid in me is screaming at the top of their lungs because they think they could make a better script than Disney. BRO FINISH 2
Chapters in like 5 minutes- AND THE FIGHT SCENE BETWEEN MS DODDS AND PERCY
WAS RUUUUSHED Slow down Disney that was a good bit. They also made it happen outside instead of having her lead him inside. How hard did the mist have to work with all those people there???
Is it just me or is Sally kinda mean, where's our mom figure? Im crying over Luke's acting it was so good but also why are you dropping bombshells on us the second episode??
No offense to the actors but some of the lines felt like they were from Disney channel in the 2000s. It feels almost like a completely different story I understand why but I thought it was going to be more accurate
Love Annabeth’s "you drool when you sleep" but why was the scene setting so weird??
1 I drastically miss the Hellhound scene. It was one of my favorite scenes. They should have made the first two episodes *| accidentally vaporized my math teacher" and "My mom teaches me bullfighting" then they wouldn't have had to rush it so much. So much information was thrown at us in the first episode I couldn't process it. Also the convo between Percy and Sally in the Cabin was really unrealistic... Why did she have to drop that on Percy so fast I thought Mr. D and Chiron were supposed to have that conversation with Percy.
The bathroom scene was fine but I really wish Annabeth could have been there, instead of making her look like a huge stalker. We could have had her show him around camp like I get we want to build that relationship with Luke so it hits harder but Idk I personally wouldn't want her on my team if all she did was go "Im stalking you to see if your worthy" ditch me and watch me fight 3 v1 and then push me in the ocean. The Ares kids bashing... but Clarisse's acting was great. That scream of anger was amazing.
I feel like they took the first book and went
"eh don't need this, or this hmmm nah that doesn't seem important" and then shook it all about. They changed so much to save time but they didn't even make it a movie so there wasn't much point??
The intro was fine. I didn't really like the dialogue between Percy and Sally at the beginning. The museum was okay but we didn't get a lesson about Kronos so no foreshadowing for that at all. No one really seems to remember this but Percy didn't keep the pen and it doesn't make sense for him to as-well with getting kicked out of school. In the Book Percy was given the pen while fighting Miss Dodds. Afterwards he was still unknowingly clutching the pen when he went to talk to Mr.Brunner who took his pen back saying he should bring his own pen next time, making Percy more confused because Mr.Brunner had given him the pen.
Later when he's leaving for the quest Chiron gives him the pen saying it was from his dad. That means Percy wouldn't have had the pen during his time at camp and his fight with the minotaur. So it wouldn't make sense for him to defeat the minotaur with its horn rather than his pen if he had the pen. In the book he HAD to defeat the minotaur with his own horn because he had no other weapon.
He had a hard time on the beach and during sword training because no other sword felt right. I could rant forever on everything they overlooked.
Sorry no one asked for this rant i'm just so upset because Rick said it was going to be accurate and he chose these Actors because they would be able to play the parts more accurately but the script doesn't work so I there's no point in having actors who would do a good job if the script doesn't do a good job

Lady Madness: Gorgeous George
Gorgeous George is known for her time in World Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling , Total Nonstop Action Wrestling , and other wrestling promotions on the Independent Wrestling Circuit.
Gorgeous George ( Stephanie Bellars ) met Randy Savage when she was working as an exotic dancer at Thee Dollhouse Nightclub in Tampa, Florida. During the match between Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair on the December 28, 1998 episode of ‘ WCW Monday Nitro ’ when Randy Savage made a surprise appearance during the match. She was unknown when this happened. Bischoff vs Flair was also the main event for this episode of ‘ Nitro ’. This would also mark her first appearance on WCW programming.
At the ‘ Spring Stampede ’ Pay-Per-View in 1999, Stephanie Bellars would actually make her debut under her signature ring name , Gorgeous George. She would be accompanying Randy Savage to the ring as his manager/valet. Her in-ring debut came the same year at the ‘ Slamboree ’ Pay-Per-View in a match against WCW referee , Charles Robinson in order to save Savage’s job with the company . She was successful by defeating Robinson. She would also be a member of Team Madness alongside Randy Savage , Madusa , and Miss Madness ( WWE Hall of Famer Molly Holly ) . This would also mark Savage’s fourth run with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, which he won at ‘ Bash At The Beach ’. Her final WCW appearance would come in October of 1999.
She would go on to appear in ECW in 2000 and in NWA-TNA in 2003-2004. She would also make a few appearances on the Independent Wrestling Circuit before retiring in 2014.
My Final Thoughts:
I wrote about Sapphire, Dusty Rhodes’ manager , yesterday. If you haven’t read that mini article , check it out ! Like Sapphire, I feel like Gorgeous George isn’t really talked about a lot. She was a huge part of Macho Man Randy Savage’s later career in my opinion. From being his solo valet to Team Madness. I hope this article can help you all get to know her and her career.
As Always I Love You All,
- Kay

Steve Johnson's still fighting the good fight

Steve Johnson's still fighting the good fight
Tumblr media
Steve Johnson sat down with QNews to tell us about his book A Thousand Miles From Care and his role as the victims’ families representative on the newly formed LGBTQIA+ Consultative Committee.
Steve Johnson is in town for the launch of his book A Thousand Miles From Care at Qtopia Sydney’s The Substation in Taylor Square.
The book is a triumph, serving as both a memoir of Steve’s three-and-a-half decade fight for justice and a biography of his brother Scott’s life and achievements before his untimely death at Manly aged just 27.
A feature film adaptation with a working title of The Surface of Venus is already in the works.
That title is a reference to Scott Johnson’s early work at Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory that was instrumental in revealing the face of Venus for the first time by mathematically inferring the surface of the planet from reflections and scatterings of radar waves.
A Thousand Miles From Care tells the story of a family’s love and loss that ultimately ends in victory and the conviction of a man that Steve had brought to the attention of the police as early as 2007.
“I wrote the book for several reasons,” Steve tells me.
“I wanted the world to know my brother better. But I also wanted people to see that standing up to intransigent institutions like the NSW Police can sometimes end up succeeding.
“I am hopeful that the NSW Police will change and by writing this book I hope to send a message that the government needs to take the recommendations of the Special Commission seriously. To get to work trying to solve some of the other deaths that occurred around the time Scott died. To move the NSW Police into the 21st Century and heal the wounds caused by their mistakes of the past and reform the institution so that it takes seriously their sacred duty to protect and serve all people equally.
“Then I would have succeeded in accomplishing something for my brother and for the other victims that are still awaiting justice.”
In the book Johnson reveals that he’s still not sure that Scott White, who later took his wife’s name of Newman, has been entirely truthful about the circumstances that brought him into contact with his brother Scott.
“I’m grateful that Scott White pleaded guilty and spared us a trial,” Johnson tells me.
“I’m also grateful that he confessed to having killed my brother. But I’ve always wished he would tell us more. I hope for a time where I can hear straight from Mr White why he was there with my brother and why he did what he did.”
It also paints a picture of the level of closeness between some police with known gay bashers that were operating around Manly in the years close to Scott Johnson’s death.
“I discovered through the proceedings of the Police Integrity Commission in 2000 called Operation Florida that the Manly Local Area Command often had close relationships with the drug crime and the drug criminals in the Northern Beaches,” Steve reveals.
“When we discovered during the third inquest that the police in charge of one of the most prominent arrests of a gay bashing gang in the year before my brother died had attended the wedding of the leader of that gang it made me question whether there was more to the reason the Manly Police were reticent to investigate Scott’s case than met the eye.”
“In 1988 the police did considerably less than not investigate Scott’s case. They went so far as to convince me that my brother’s death was a suicide and withheld information about the violence against gay men in their own streets during that time and in particular areas like where Scott died which were places that gay men would go to meet each other and teen gangs would go to attack them.
“Their failure to share even the most basic information about the circumstances of Scott’s death led to a decades long mystery about why he died and permitted the person who we later learned killed Scott three decades of freedom in which he could continue carrying on violence.”
Steve’s role on the LGBTQIA+ Consultative Committee
Steve’s fight for justice ultimately led to the establishment of the Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ Hate Crimes, a process that he’s still intimately involved in as the victims’ families representative on the LGBTQIA+ Consultative Committee that is working with NSW Police and the NSW Government on implementing its recommendations.
He says it has been slow going so far, though that should start to change when the NSW Government releases its formal response to the Commission of Inquiry, something that Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council, Penny Sharpe, said at the book launch will be happening in the very near future.
“The committee has had two meetings but as yet has not had a substantive conversation about the recommendations,” Steve tells me.
“There’s some preliminary work that we’ve been apprised of and our next meeting is in October.
“We have been told very little about what the government intends to do or what the police intend to do except that the government’s response is imminent.
“During the first meeting we discussed the membership of the committee and I suggested that the committee be entirely open to the public. That way anyone who wished to listen and submit questions could do so, so that the process could be seen as very engaged and open, whereby everyone could see the earnestness of the government and the police to work out the reforms that were recommended by the Sackar Commission.
“I said that the NSW Police took quite a hit during the year-and-a-half that the Special Commission was underway in terms of the public trust because it fought so assertively against what the Sackar Commission was attempting to do.
“Namely, to get to the bottom of how best to serve the men who had lost their lives and who had not yet received justice and how best to avoid the failures of the past to serve the LGBTQI community well.
“I said the NSW Police could best regain some of that trust by immediately opening the committee proceedings up to the public so the public could see a good faith effort to follow the recommendations of the Special Commission.
“That was taken under advisement.”
US election hopes and fears
When Steve boarded his flight to Sydney to attend his book launch Joe Biden was still the Democratic nominee for the US Presidential Election.
But by the time he arrived in Sydney, Biden had stepped aside. Johnson is proud of Biden’s record but feels that it’s for the best.
“I think President Biden was one of the best presidents we’ve had in my lifetime and I’m glad he’s stepped aside and made room for candidate Kamala Harris and I hope she becomes the Democratic nominee,” Johnson tells QNews.
“My wife and I are one hundred percent behind her.
“I’m very much worried that things will go backwards for gay and transgender Americans under a second Trump Administration. I’m worried about all kinds of things going backwards if Donald Trump becomes president again.”
-Steve Johnson’s A Thousand Miles From Care is available now from all good booksellers.

Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (515): Mon 14th Aug 2023
I watched the Dark Side of the Ring episode covering Bash At The Beach 2000. Russo maintains that everything that happened on screen that night was supposed to happen but Bischoff contends that Russo wasn't supposed to go out to the crowd after the Jarrett / Hogan match and cut the promo on Hogan. Russo also says that he came up with the idea to have Jarrett lie down for Hogan so that he and Booker T would have two versions of the WCW title and they could do something with that down the line. Bischoff says that when Russo submitted his idea to have Booker win the belt and Hogan not to be involved Hogan poopooed this idea and came up with the Jarrett lying down story in order to set up a title vs title match a month later. I really don't know who's side of the story I believe because Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff are both proven liars. I think that Russo most likely flipped when he found out that Hogan's creative control card would override anything he wrote. The one aspect of Bischoff's version of the story I've struggled with is the idea that the pay per view was supposed to end with the Jarrett / Hogan match but if it had then the pay per view would only have been an hour and half long because after this segment there was still a Kevin Nash vs Goldberg match. I often fantasize about being able to go back in time and witness first hand the solutions to all the unsolved mysteries (who Jack the Ripper was, who shot JFK etc) and I would love to be able to go back and find out which version of events from this controversial night is the correct one. I watched a video where Jordan Peterson suggests speed dating for getting over a fear of talking to women. I've been wanting to do this for a while and there are several venues in Newcastle that do speed dating events so I might give one a go. The next time I go to Edinburgh I don't want to be spending my whole time bemoaning the fact that I can't say anything to the legions of beautiful woman that show up for the festival but the only way to get good at talking to women is to practice. These speed dating events won't even necessarily be about meeting a potential partner but rather developing the skills one needs in order to search for one. You would think that someone who has spent a considerable amount of time working in call centres would be better at talking to people than I am but the only skills I gained as a result of working in this environment was how to pretend to give a shit when customers ring up angry that their bogus fraud claim has been turned down. Before I go to one of these speed dating events though I need to get into decent shape because I can't imagine there are that many women will want to go to bed with someone who looks like they've drawn a picture of Bono onto their kneecap.

Why Vince Russo Doesn't Respect Eric Bischoff Or The Wrestling Business
Feedzy Read More  By /Aug. 2, 2023 3:06 pm EST The latest episode of “Dark Side of The Ring” opened up deep wounds, recounting the Rashomon”-like story of Bash At The Beach 2000 – the WCW show where everyone involved has a different recollection of events, and none of them align.  The four men at the center of the incident were Hulk Hogan, Jeff Jarrett, Eric Bischoff, and Vince Russo.…

you know what, actually have batfamily & co as song from midnights because i LOVE to mesh my obsessions together at any given time
lavender haze — tim timmy timmy boy, with pretty much any of his love interests, although since the song itself is purple coded it mostly feels like timsteph or timtam to me
talk your talk and go viral // i just need this love spiral // get it off your chest // get it off my desk
maroon — the sultryness and the eerie feeling of it makes me think about damian a little beat, so imma say damijon? kind of dark, angsty damijon (they initially feel very angsty to me btw, idk why. like they are either early 2000s romcom funny or just straight up fucked up in a way that is not exactly "right person wrong time" but more like "right person fucking wrong literally everything else")
when the silence came, we // were shaking blind and hazy // how the hell did we lose sight of us again? // sobbing with your head in your hands // ain't that the way shit always ends?
maroon also has a strong dick feeling to it tho
anti-hero — tim's song through and through as i said, especially in his red robin era. i could actually write a whole ass essay that's how strongly i feel about it
i have this thing where i get older, but just never wiser // midnights become my afternoons // when my depression works the graveyard shift, all of the people // i've ghosted stand there in the room
and also
i wake up screaming from dreaming // one day, i'll watch as you're leaving // and life will lose all its meaning // for the last time
like hello??
snow on the beach — timkon & damijon from tim's and damian's perspective
life is emotionally abusive // and time can't stop me quite like you did // and my flight was awful, thanks for asking // i'm unglued, thanks to you
literally obsessed
but your eyes are flying saucers from another planet // now i'm all for you like Janet // can this be a real thing? can it?
you're on your own, kid — look. we all know yoyok is kon's song. look me in the eyes and try to tell me it's not a kon el song i won't listen. might as well argue with the wall. the way those lyrics carry so much loneliness but also so much hope at the same time. the way this songs feels like the most heartbreaking thing you've ever experienced in your life but still manages to also feel like a hug and a pat on the back from a big brother/sister? c'mon
'cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned // everything you lose is a step you take // so make the friendship bracelets // take the moment and taste it // you've got no reason to be afraid
you're on your own, kid // yeah, you can face this // you're on your own, kid // you always have been
midnight rain — the more i listen to it the more it feels like birdflash, even though i'm not the big dick/wally shipper but i like the whole concept of them being best buddies who took a shot at trying to be something more than friends but it just didn't work out in a long run. and they are both pretty much okay with this now but sometimes they can't help but wonder if one thing had been different would everything be different?? if you know you know
'cause he was sunshine, i was midnight rain // he wanted it comfortable, i wanted that pain // he wanted a bride, i was making my own name // chasing that fame, he stayed the same // all of me changed like midnight
question...? — timkon & damijon once again. what can i say, midnights very tim and damian coded. though i feel like this one could be more of a kon's and jon's perspective
can i ask you a question? did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room // and every single one of your friends was making fun of you // but fifteen seconds later they were clapping too? // then what did you do?
vigilante shit — selina & jason. it's bruce bashing o'clock my dudes
draw the cat eye, sharp enough to kill a man // you did some bad things, but i'm the worst of them // sometimes i wonder which one will be your last lie // they say looks can kill and i might try
i don't dress for women // i don't dress for men // lately i've been dressing for revenge
bejeweled — dick grayson & stephanie brown. sorry i will not elaborate on this one. this is dick grayson and stephanie brown
sapphire tears on my face // sadness became my whole sky // but some guy said my aura's moonstone // just 'cause he was high
and we're dancin' all night // and you can try to change my mind // but you might have to wait in line // what's a girl gonna do // a diamond's gotta shine
labyrinth — having hard time with this one actually. either dick or tim i guess, the whole "oh no, i'm falling in love again" narrative seems to feet them the most (i love the way they both love people around them so deeply, to the point where it sometimes becomes painful. like i GET it. you know)
you know how much i hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back // just like that
karma — just batsiblings in general (mostly dick tho i would say)
sweet nothings — timkon & damijon & birdflash. honestly i don't even want to explain, the song speaks for itself in a much better way than i ever could
'cause they said the end is coming // everyone's up to something // i find myself running home to your sweet nothings // outside, they're push and shoving // you're in the kitchen humming // all that you ever wanted from me was nothing
industry disruptors and soul deconstructors // and smooth-talking hucksters out glad-handing each other // and the voices that implore, "you should be doing more" // to you, i can admit that i'm just too soft for all of it
mastermind — top timkon song and top tim drake song fr, i could write essays. with this beautiful plot twist at the end of the song... like it's just them my guys. and the bridge has the most tim-coded lyrics i've ever seen
no one wanted to play with me as a little kid // so i've been scheming like a criminal ever since // to make them love me and make it seem effortless // this is the first time i've felt the need to confess
and i swear // i'm only cryptic and machiavellian 'cause i care
"you're on your own kid" kon-el/"anti-hero" tim drake can be something so personal actually

TftW: Were-Russell.
Nathan to Russell Brand tf/were-celeb theme.
The concept of people turning into animals has indeed been around for centuries, some say even more than that, the fact it is that is nothing new, werecreatures weren't anything new either - they were common and almost every country has one, you just have to look in a variety of unusual places in order to locate some of them.
That is where our hero comes in - Nathan or Monstermaster13 as he was referred to was not like others, far from it - he went with a more 'unique' approach, he went with the more satirical 'werecelebrity' gimmick, but hated it when people who bashed his work didn't get the joke. But the truth was that he wasn't the only one on DA who did the whole 'werecelebrity' gimmick despite nay-Sayers claiming that he was only the only one who did it, after all there were plenty of captions and stories with a theme almost like his.
Nathan always could relate more to the actual monster than the human characters in horror movies as he felt sorry for them and knew how they felt, after all - they couldn't help being what they were. He especially had a fondness for werecreatures, it started when he watched the Teen Wolf cartoon back in the 90's, he would go over to his best friends house and watch it on VHS.
Later on he discovered the movie the cartoon was based on in the late 2000's and became a huge fan of it, his interest in werecreatures came full circle with the introduction of Big Wolf On Campus. He loved that show to pieces and because of that show he developed a fascination with monsters, so much so that he went through several stages of wanting to be a monster.
When the live action version of the Grinch came out, he was obsessed with it and wanted to become a 'Grinch' himself. Which came true when he got bitten by Jim Carrey and became the Weregrinch known as Growler. When the LOTR movies came out, he went through a 'Hobbit' phase, and there were many more to follow.
However what he found to be the most fascinating part was that like with fellow werecreature Tyler, his transformations often varied and weren't just into one form, but often a different one every night.
What intrigued him more was that the transformations were sometimes influenced by whatever he was watching or listening to at the time or by things he did to influence the process. Like for example if he had just gotten back from a trip to the beach he would become an aquatic werecreature, or if he was watching a movie like Cat People he would become a werecat. He could control the changes as well, and he could direct them in the way he preferred as well.
But one night a transformation happened to him that shocked him to the core, it all started one night when he was in the living room watching MTV, something he hadn't done in years. He was watching a re-run of the 2008 VMA Awards, he remembered watching the commercials for it and liking them but he felt the RussellXBritney thing was kind of weird. He was also talking to his friend Joel on his Smartphone, posting various comments and photos.
"You know, I think that the women he's seen with are just pretending to like him."
"Oh, I don't know. I think Russell and Britney made an adorable OTP."
"Russell Brand's relationships with human females don't last long though."
"Oh? But what about KatyXRussell? Or Krussell as they call it?"
"Oh please, the two of them broke up in 2011-2012."
"But it wasn't his fault though."
"In my expert opinion it was. He was awful to her."
"That's not true!"
"Oh yes it is - depending on the source."
"I really do think he's not that bad though!"
"What you see in him is something I don't understand. Why if I was Russell Brand - I could have done so much better."
"Oh well, see ya buddy! Talk to you later, bye!"
He stopped for a while and turned his Smartphone off before continuing to watch the rest of the ceremony before heading into the kitchen to grab himself a biscuit, a slice of apple and a glass of lemon water, hitting pause on the DVR. He sat back down on the couch to watch the rest of it, hitting play as he did so.
As he continued watching, he noticed something very weird going on in the background, everything around him was changing including where he was sitting, it was all warping and altering - and within seconds he found himself backstage at the MTV 2008 VMAs, he looked around for a few minutes, feeling a little bit confused.
"Huh? Where am I? I'm at the MTV Vmas? But how?"
Indeed he was at the MTV 2008 Video Music Awards and from the looks of it he was standing on the stage where the host - Russell Brand, stood. He was slightly confused and puzzled as to how exactly he ended up there.
But he knew something weird was definitely going to happen and just as he was about to try and call his friend to inform him of where he was, it was time - he saw the full moon peering out from behind the clouds, which of course meant one thing…it was definitely time for his transformation.
As the moonlight shined through the windows, he began to feel rather strange and disorientated as eerie sensations jolted through his body - causing him to double over slightly. The sensations that were jolting through his body were giving him a mix of both pain and pleasure, that felt oddly soothing.
His transformation started with his black shirt and grey cardigan peeling away and reforming into a black leathery shirt and jacket as his torso and chest slimmed down along with his arms which were also growing longer. Silver chains wrapped themselves around his wrists as his skintone also changed.
"What the hell is going on?"
He looked down and saw his jeans also peeling away and losing color, before reforming and blackening to reform into a pair of black leather pants with a couple of chains wrapped around his belt, in the process he saw his slippersocks melting off before reforming and hardening into a pair of black boots.
Although it looked and seemed really painful, it was really quite tame - almost relaxing and intoxicating. He arched his back as it slimmed down as well, his legs also becoming longer and thinner as well.
His skintone lightened a bit, becoming a bit rugged in the process as his shoulders slimmed down and he elevated in height to 6'2, he didn't know what it was exactly in terms of his changes, but it was very entrancing and intoxicating.
"Mmm….this process is oddly soothing."
Even though he had no clue as to how this was happening to him, he was oddly enjoying it - it was a much more pleasant process than he thought it would be - he was entranced by his changing appearance, he felt that it was more natural to allow it to happen as his hair lengthened, growing longer and messier, cascading down a bit until it reached his shoulders a little - in the process it turned black and developed a wild looking backcombed style.
His eyes turned a darker shade of brown and widened as black eyeliner appeared around them, his eyebrows blackened and thickened, arching and giving him a more dangerous look - his forehead slightly enlarging as it became more pronounced, his nose narrowing a little and altering as his lips altered as well to match.
By this point the light yet rugged tone reached his face and neck as his neckline grew longer and thinner, the slight rugged tone becoming slightly visible facial hair as it grew around his jaw-line, giving him a very scruffy look too. At this point his features morphed and reshaped themselves, making him look more like Russell than his normal self.
Looking at his reflection from the other side of the Moon Man trophy, he saw Russell staring back at him, which startled him at first and mortified him a little but he didn't mind it all that much. He gasped a little as his voice changed, changing to match his appearance - altering to become Russell's voice complete with the Essex orientated British accent.
He had a bit of time to react before his transformation completed, Russell's mindset and personality taking over as he was finished transforming, he was now completely turned into Russell Brand.
"So…i'm Russell now? Hmmm…this may not be a bad thing after all. I do look rather glamorous in black."
The new Russell skipped up back onto the stage before carrying on with the ceremony, introducing the musical acts and making quips along the way - all the while getting rather used to his new self.
The man once known as Nathan was completely gone, he was Russell Brand, and like it or not - he was here to stay, and he knew that he was going to take the US by storm with this ceremony - Sure, he was going to make some new enemies - but to him it was all a new and exciting experience.
He hosted the ceremony all through the night and the ceremony proved itself to be the best VMAs celebration ever - so much so that he was called on to host the next year's one at all. When the show was over, he left the stage and decided to make one last call on his Smartphone - he received a response from Joel.
"I'm sorry if I said anything that may have offended you in anyway….it's just well…I was hoping you would understand Russell a bit more, I understand that not everyone likes him. But please don't be mad at me."
"I'm not mad at you, after all - you're still my companion and close friend. But nonetheless I forgive you."
"You do?"
"Yes.."
"Hang on a second! What's going on here? Who is this speaking?"
"Why it's me!"
"But your voice…you sound like Russell!"
"Well…I can't explain that, it's complicated."
"Is it some kind of supernatural issue? Do you need my help?"
"No…that won't be necessary, I can handle this on my own. But thanks for the offer, talk to you later…good bye!"
Russell turned the Smartphone off and stalked off into the night, for even though the ceremony was over - the fun was far from over, as he knew there was more fun to be had. And he was right.
He spent the rest of the night as Russell but when the dawn came and morning arose, he was back to being Nathan, he awoke to find himself sleeping on the floor of his own apartment - with an elephant standing nearby and a Moon Man trophy on the table next to him. His Smartphone beeped once more as he got another call from Joel.
"Nathan? Is that you?"
"Yes…or at least I think so."
"What happened to you last night? I was worried about you, buddy."
"Welll…it's a long story."
"I tried to call you but Russell Brand answered it instead."
"About that…"
"And another thing…you didn't tell me that you got a pet elephant!"
"Oh, well… I just woke up to see him there."
"And…woah! Is that a Moon Man trophy you have there?"
"Uh..yeah!"
"Nice! By the way…how did you do manage to get Britney Spear's phone number?"
"I'm just a lucky guy I guess."
"Well, whatever it is and whatever you were doing last night, you must have had a lot of fun."
"You could say that."
"Well thank goodness you are safe, you know I would be lost without you."
"Don't you worry about me, I told you I could handle it."
"Well…when you're right, you're right."
"No hard feelings?"
"No hard feelings."
With that Nathan turned the Smartphone off and went to change into his night-clothes - he then decided to go and watch a bit more TV, the commercial for the 2008 MTV VMAs was on, and Russell was flirting with Britney.
As for what he did after, he crouched down and gave a rather sly smile as he morphed into Russell briefly, mimicking the end scene in Trilogy of Terror when Karen Black's character was possessed by the spirit of the Zuni doll.
Of course after doing so he morphed back to his normal self, luckily for him - Joel wasn't aware that his own close friend had undergone so many transformations each night and also it was good that he didn't realize that Russell actually was him, of course that was just one of many secrets that Nathan have that came to life at night, specifically on nights like this one.
Remember, when you have someone like Nathan for a friend - to always be on the lookout, for you may never know what secret he's got hidden away or what or who he'll turn into next when the night calls.
