04/10/23 WIP WEDNESDAY
Am I finally gonna jump on this? I'm finally gonna jump on this. Amazing WWgame by @/kedreeva
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited! If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write. Feel free to sent multiple asks There's gonna be some AFTG pieces and a TRC pieces
1. Come Back (AFTG) Kevin is present for Riko's execution 2. Dove & Scarecrow (TRC) Whelk regrets his decision right after murdering Noah and begs the Ley Line to bring him back. The Ley Line answers, but it's not flawless at reinstating life 3. Can't Wait To Be King (AFTG) Continuation of this au, where Riko genuinely believes that he's a prince of a kingdom (Evermore). Now has to learn to live in the real world
Feel free to send more than one ask

Male werewolf x female human | Regency era | SFW but slightly suggestive | autumn fluff
Part 1 of Colin and Susannah | Part 2
“I do so love autumn leaves.” Susannah bent to pick one up, a crimson red brighter than fresh blood, and twirled the stem of it between her slender fingers. “I will never tire of their vibrant colors.”
“That’s fitting, for I believe you’re a painter, are you not?” Colin asked her.
Her face brightened with a mixture of surprise and pleasure. “Indeed I am. But I don’t recall telling you so. How did you know?”
“More than once when we have met, I have smelt paint upon you.” She lifted her hands to peer at her fingers, as if the paint were still upon them, and he smiled. “I do not smell any now, but even if you had washed off all visible traces of it, I might still be able to detect that it was recently there. Werewolves have a very keen sense of smell.”
Ah yes. Sometimes it was easy for her to forget that Mr. Barrington was a werewolf. Her eyes roved over his face, so perfectly human and normal, save for his golden eyes that seemed almost to glow. She wondered what he looked like in his wolf form, but did not feel they were acquainted well enough to ask such a thing. “Even in your human form?”
“My senses are a bit dulled in this form, but very little. Even like this, I can smell that you used rosewater in your hair, and you ate raspberry preserves with your breakfast.”
Her cheeks flushed a pretty pink over her freckles, and she reached up to wipe at the corners of her mouth. The werewolf chuckled. “Don’t worry, Miss Oakden, there is no jam still on you; I simply can smell it.”
Her eyes widened. He was the first werewolf she had ever been personally acquainted with, and she found him endlessly fascinating. Thankfully, he was always patient with her questions, never acting offended by them or mocking her ignorance. “That’s remarkable! How can you smell it if it is gone?”
He shrugged. “I don’t pretend to understand the science behind it. It is simply an innate skill I possess. I can smell many things I cannot see.”
For instance, he could smell that she was his mate.
He did not mention this out loud. She would not understand; as a human, he knew she could not smell mating bonds, as his kind could, nor even feel the bond beyond the faintest vague sensation. He did not wish her to think he only cared for her due to the bond, when in reality, it was his admiration of her as a person that had caused the bond to form, not some higher power dictating his feelings. Even though she must feel at least some degree of affection for him as well, in order to enable the start of that bond, she might not realize her own feelings yet, and he did not want to distress, frighten, or confuse her.
He could smell her matehood even now, intangible yet so very real, thick and sweet in the space between them as they walked beside each other along the garden path of her parents’ estate. It urged him to stay close to her and protect her. It urged him to touch her, lick her, mount her, bite her—to make her his.
But he kept his hands clasped behind his back and a respectable distance between them as they slowly strolled the grounds, colorful leaves rustling under their feet. He could wait to have her, while he courted her in the manner of a gentleman, as she would expect. He would earn her love the way a human man would.
And once he had it, he would claim her the way a werewolf male would.

The New Hampshire House passed a bill to ban child marriage in the state and raise the minimum age of marriage to 18.
The measure passed the Senate unanimously in March. On Thursday, it passed the House, 192-174. The bill now goes to Gov. Chris Sununu for signing into law.
One of those voting against was Representative Jess Edwards, whose comments sparked immediate gasps from colleagues.
“… If we continually restrict the freedom of marriage as a legitimate social option, when we do this to people who are a ripe, fertile age and may have a pregnancy and a baby involved, are we not, in fact, making abortion a much more desirable alternative, when marriage might be the right solution for some freedom-loving couples?” he said.
In a state where 18 is not old enough to drink, Edwards believes girls at 16 are old enough to get married. Edwards’ daughter, Elizabeth, served as a state representative, and Edwards said her service was the inspiration for his run for office. He is in his third term.
Child safety and gun control advocate Shannon Watts tweeted that “Child marriage is currently legal in 38 states (only Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont have set the minimum age at 18 and eliminated all exceptions), and 20 states do not require any minimum age for marriage.”
It would be the second time the New Hampshire age of marriage has been raised in the past six years. In 2018, Sununu signed a bill to raise the minimum age of marriage to 16. For more than a hundred years, the law had allowed 13-year-old girls and 14-year-old boys to get married with parent and court approval.
On Thursday, two amendments were proposed to allow some exceptions for those under 18 to get married if they have been legally emancipated.
Rep. Cassandra Levesque, D-Barrington, was a senior at Dover High School and a Girl Scout when she pushed for the bill in 2018. Now, she is one of the seven co-sponsors of SB 359.
“For the past 10 years, I have researched child marriage,” Levesque said. “I’ve learned about the devastating effects of child marriage.”

Edwina's Children
For @edwinaweek I thought I'd share my headcanon for Edwina and Matthew Bagwell's children as part of my Bridgerton: The Next Generation series.
Jeremy Bagwell is born the day before his cousin Edmund's first birthday, and throughout their childhood the Bridgerton and Bagwell families would celebrate the birthdays together at Aubrey Hall, which was always an anticipated highlight of Jeremy's year. He was a very easy baby and rather quiet much to his parents curious disbelief, especially in comparison to the energetic chaos his cousins wreaked on a daily basis. But as he grew, it became apparent that Jeremy was simply a boy of a quieter nature, who was more than content with his own company and much preferred the peace and tranquility of his parents' library than the rough and tumble of the great outdoors. His favourite pastime was being read to by his parents, an activity which he didn't want to limit to just bedtime alone and he would eagerly run up to either parent throughout the day with books in hand requesting to be read to. When he was old enough to read himself he permanently had his head buried in a book, and he could often be found alongside his father in the library as they separately studied their favoured texts. Much like is father, Jeremy would go on to be a scholar, but instead of philosophy, Jeremy opted to become a professor of his lifelong passion; history. So engrossed was he with his educational role, he never showed much interest in settling down or even courting any of the eligible young ladies of the Ton. He never much cared for balls and parties, with the only social events he ever made an effort to attend being those hosted by his Aunt Kate. While he tended to stick close to his relatives, at one particular ball he slipped away to the library of Bridgerton House in search of a textbook he hadn't reread in several years; only to find the season's diamond tucked away reading the exact book he was after. Miss Theodosia Barrington was a reluctant diamond and had been shocked to named as the season's incomparable, especially when she hadn't wanted to take her bow in society in the first place. Much to his surprise Jeremy felt an instant bond with her, and then to his even greater surprise by the end of the season he had married a diamond of the first water, just like his father had before him.
Three years after their first, Edwina and Matthew welcomed baby number two, Francis, into the world. From very early on Francis was an incredibly smiley baby who adored every show of affection he was spoiled with. While his brother was happy to be independent and do his own thing, Francis loved being surrounded by others and would trail after his Mama, Papa, his brother Jem, the household staff, and any guests that came to visit. Someone he adored in particular was his dear Grandmama Mary, who he always ecstatically greeted with a great big hug and whose lap was his most favourite seat. In turn (as much as she claimed not to have favourites among her grandchildren), Mary couldn't help but possess a special fondness for Francis, not just in the way he loved her abundantly, but how his smile and shining eyes were the most reminiscent of her late husband out of her four grandsons. Francis thoroughly enjoyed his stays at Aubrey Hall throughout the years and loved running after his older cousins Edmund and Miles, as well as his cousins' cousins too, happily integrating himself among them as they played games together and hurtled around from one end of the estate to the other. His outgoing and personable nature carried on into adulthood, making plenty of friends along the way during his years abroad, as well as befriending perfect strangers in any ballroom and assembly room he stepped foot into. As delightfully affable and pleasing as Francis was, there were two weaknesses he possessed; pretty girls and suggestibility. With the former he often tended to fall hard and fast for ladies with winsome smiles and sweet temperaments, and had ended up suffering from a string of heartbreaks as a result. The latter was arguably the bigger flaw for him because as confident a young man as he was, he still relied on the approval of those in his life who he looked up to the most and would end up swaying to agree with whatever his role models advised of him in spite of his own thoughts and feelings on the respective matter at hand.
After another three year gap, the Bagwells welcomed their little girl, Maryam, born a month after her Cousin Charlotte. Edwina and Kate loved having daughters so close in age and much to Mary's amusement, Maryam was practically identical to Edwina as Charlotte was to Kate, and watching her granddaughters play and spend time together was just like watching Kate and Edwina twenty odd years before them. Maryam loved her big brothers and copied them both despite their contrasting natures; she'd lark and dance about with Francis as often as she would take a seat next to Jeremy and read a book alongside him (which she adorably did even before she had learnt how to read). She also loved to copy her Mama and enjoyed playing dress up in her mother's gowns and having her Mama style her hair to match hers. From a young age she adored bedtime stories of handsome princes and falling in love after a single dance, and naturally Edwina couldn't help bracing herself for the day her daughter wanted to make her debut into society and all the hopeless romantic antics it may bring - however Edwina was surprised when Maryam came to her about her debut and made the odd request to spend as little money on her gowns as possible. When Edwina asked why, Maryam expressed her worry of impressing the Queen too much and potentially ending up as diamond of the season just like her, not wanting to suffer the same pressures as Edwina had during her season. Sympathetic to her woes, Edwina assured her daughter that regardless if she was the diamond or not, she shouldn't feel burdened by any pressures of securing a prosperous match for the sake of bettering their family; all she wanted for her daughter was to find a love match and secure her happiness. With the reassurance that she would only be expected to marry for love, Maryam enjoyed her debut season alongside her Cousin Charlotte. Sure, not all the suitors she danced with or who called upon her impressed her much, but she was in no real rush to find her perfect match just yet - that is, until she attended David Basset's wedding and was introduced to the bride's brother, Mr. Benedict Woodson.

Fuck Genocide Joe, but fuck Trump harder
To say I'm angry with President Biden over his continued support for and general failure to stop the genocide in Palestine is quite an understatement. He has the blood of countless innocents on his hands. That said, while I'll be cursing and grinding my teeth all the while, I'm still going to vote for him. The bottom line is that with our current political system, it's going to be him or Trump. I see people say sometimes that Trump actually managed to do less harm while he was in office, but let's be clear: Trump only cares about Trump. He's hopelessly corrupt, and straight up said he'd do whatever the fossil fuel industry wants for enough money. (and I'm sure for anyone else who's willing and able to pay.) He's said that he plans to be a dictator if he gets back in (for his first term, but like he'd stop?) He's also said that Israel should "Finish the job".
I saw this earlier on another social media platform, and I think it's a good summary of the issue. Professor Barrington Wolff wrote on Threads (bolding mine):
"A note to progressives who resist voting for President Biden:
There are policies and moral issues on which I disagree with President Biden, including the largely unqualified nature of the support he has provided to the Netanyahu regime after seeing the way they are conducting the war. I think about a vote for Mr. Biden partly as support for the policies and moral issues where we do agree, the climate crisis and the urgency of bending the carbon curve while it is still possible being foremost among them. But I also think about a vote for Mr. Biden as a question of which opponent I want to fight when we disagree. When I disagree with a President and an administration, do I want to be fighting Mr. Biden and the people he will hire when he makes what I view as bad decisions on immigration or foreign policy — a President and administration who respect the rule of law, will not try to destroy institutions and undermine the independent judiciary in order to get their way, and can be negotiated with on areas of disagreement? Yes, that is who I want to be fighting on these issues. The alternative is a corrupt, society-destroying sociopathic fascist who will fill his administration with criminals and destroy anything in his path to stay in power.
If you revile President Biden and can never forgive him for actions he has taken, recognize that this election is about picking which opponent you will be struggling against to try to accomplish your goals -- which enemy you will be fighting, if that is how you think about it. And if you want to win these fights, you want to be contending with an opponent who will respect the rule of law, respect the authority of courts, and negotiate with the advocates who disagree with him. Choosing to empower an enemy who will burn down everything you care about is not a righteous way to express your outrage at President Biden's failings, it is just an orgiastic act of self-immolation and it is always the most vulnerable people who are the first ones to get burned in that kind of conflagration.
Even if you view President Biden as an enemy, recognize that he is the enemy you want to be fighting against for the next four years."

the boleyns came into jane’s life and changed everything, not only in her name, the creation of her own family and circumstance but in the entire english court. as the political climate changed within court so did jane’s loyalties, turning her away from former queen catherine to be in favour of the future queen and her new sister-in-law; anne boleyn. in her loyalty jane found herself mistrusted by those who supported queen catherine and later banished from court by the late king for aiding the removal of his newest mistress, but in spite of it all she remained firm in her loyalty to the boleyn cause and continues to do so now that a boleyn king sits upon the throne and her beloved children hold the boleyn name.

Bramley's Book Of The Week - Master Thread
I've been adding to a thread over on my twitter (bardicbramley) every week-ish with a new Children's or YA book that I have read recently and would recommend! With everything happening on twitter, I'm going to make a master list of all my recommendation so far here, and then continue adding them to a tag on this blog as well, just in case!
So, without further ado... #bramleysbotw so far!
31/10/22 - Home by Tonya Lippert and Andrea Stegmaier
A gentle story of homelessness giving so much space for understaning & discussion. A great tool for deeper talking ab houseless people, different types of homes and unstable living situations with gorgeous, simple yet detailed art.
Tumblr media
7/11/22 - How To Be More Hedgehog by Anne-Maire Conway
So much deep and true emotion, a relatable MC and great messages of self advocacy, confidence and activism. As someone with selective mutism and tics, I enjoyed every second of Lily's proudly stammer-filled journey.
Tumblr media
14/11/22 - Lifesize by Sophy Henn
Over to my library kids for this #bramleybotw A new addition that they've not stopped talking about...Even my most energetic readers are sitting on the floor, reading the animal facts to their friends and comparing their hands to that of a polar bear!
Tumblr media
21/11/22 - Me and My Dysphoria Monster by Laura Kate Dale and Ang Hui Qing
In honour of #transawarenessweek2022 and as a personal thank you from a trans educator. An amazing addition to trans children's literature (& kidlit in general) that I would highly recommend to other educators!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
28/11/22 - Love Your Body by Jessica Sanders and Carol Rossetti
A beautiful and uplifting non fiction to support girls in loving and appreciating their body for all the amazing things it can do, and all the incredible ways it can look.
I needed more words to also talk about the incredible art in this week's choice. The colour pallet just so comforting and the style is a new favourite of mine!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5/12/22 - Paws by Kate Foster
My younger self would have loved this book and even now I adore it. It has authentic #actuallyautistic representation (without negativity!) and is all round a lovely story.
Tumblr media
6/1/23 - When I See Blue by Lily Bailey
An emotional and gritty real world adventure with Ben, as he navigates making friends, protecting his alcoholic mother, and battling the bully in his head, his OCD. A tough but beautiful read.
Tumblr media
30/1/23 - Star Knights by Kay Davault
A Graphic Novel filled with self acceptance, incredible worldbuilding and animals that turn into magical adventurers?! I mean come on, how could I not rec this one 💖 bonus points for queer rep too.
Tumblr media
9/2/23 - All To Play For by Eve Ainsworth
It's recommended by Empathy Lab UK this year and I couldn't agree more. It has Barrington Stoke's signature dyslexia friendly pages and font - but so much more than that. A story of family, class and determination.
Tumblr media
20/2/23 - Birdsong by Katya Balen
I'm a bit late to the party with this one. I've seen so many people sing it's praises! A gorgeously honest, emotional and raw story that any child will love, but will strike a chord with certain ones especially.
Tumblr media
27/2/23 - Speak Up! by Rebecca Burgess
A graphic novel about a secret teen pop star with a wonderful autistic main and genderqueer side character representation? Of course it was amazing!
Tumblr media
6/3/23 - Tyger by SF Said
Much like Phoenix, the dedication to world building, the layered, lovable characters, and the beautifully descriptive language had me gripped from the very start. Dave McKean's incredibly detailed and emotive illustrations surely helped!
Tumblr media
13/3/23 - Needle by Patrice Lawrence
An incredible heartfelt read for UKS2/MG/KS3 - exploring often avoided topics of fostering, UK police and court systems, racial profiling, when to be honest (or fake it), whose voices matter most and questionable justice.
Tumblr media
20/3/23 - Twelfth Grade Night by Molly Horton Booth, Stephanie Kate Strohm and Jamie Green
Sometimes you really just need a queer, unapologetically corny modern Shakespeare smash retelling of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and that's 100% okay! I got you covered!
In all seriousness, with all the hatred filling queer spaces atm, it was great to just float in a fun, sweet, dramatic world full of lovable ✨fairies✨The illustrations caught me instantly - the pining faces, the dramatic lighting! A teen romcom Will'd be proud of.
Tumblr media
28/3/23 - Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga
A beautiful UKS2+ novel in verse following Jude's journey across oceans, growing up, making friends and finding her voice. Rich and realistic, not shying away from subjects often avoided, and with poetic Arabic intertwined.
Tumblr media
3/4/23 - Frizzy by Claribel A. Oretga and Rose Bousamra
Whilst not my own cultural story, it resonated deeply still 💖 an incredibly honest, beautiful and joyous graphic novel with gorgeous colours and rebellious questioning of generational trauma!
Tumblr media
12/4/23 - Sir Callie and the Champions of Helston by Esme Symes Smith
I put it off for so long bc I was a little scared it might not live up to my hopes, but it was so much more than I imagined. The love I have for these kiddos (and Callie's dads 😭) is intense. Kidlits often shy away from big, scary or rebellious topics. Neither Callie nor Esme are afraid to speak up ab what trans kids (and so many others) need/deserve to hear, and I am so proud of them for that. This is the book I needed as a kid - I am so glad it exists now 💖⚔️
Tumblr media
24/4/23 - Jamie by LD Lapinski
A powerful story of never backing down and demanding your full self to be acknowledged. I'm so excited to see a story encouraging children to stand up for themselves and recognise that adults can be (& often are) wrong.
Tumblr media
5/5/23 - Dungeon Club: Roll Call by Molly Knox Ostertag and Xanthe Bouma
Great for those who haven't played and incredible for those who have - the use of D&D stat blocks and dual narrative (irl and in game) 🙌🏻 simply amazing! Can't wait for the next!
Tumblr media
15/5/23 - Call Me Lion by Camilla Chester
Being autistic, sometimes partially or non-speaking, and having struggled with confidence all my life - I just loved this little joyful tale. Realistic but hopeful, with easily likeable, well rounded mcs!
Tumblr media
22/5/23 - My Brother is Away by Sara Greenwood and Luisa Uribe
A /beautifully/ illustrated and gently poignant picturebook of a child whose brother is incarcerated. I've seen this kind of book before, but this is it done right, well, and to a v. high quality.
Tumblr media
19/6/23 - Front Desk by Kelly Yang
Been meaning to read this for so long, finally have, and of course its been added to my all time favourites list! What an incredible, reflective and honest piece of art for children. I don't do mandatory reading, but if I did: top of the list.
Tumblr media
26/6/23 - The Golden Hour by Niki Smith
A gorgeous graphic novel, upper KS2-3 cusp/YA. It takes a beautifully artistic and honest look into managing childhood PTSD from gun violence, with help from an eye for photography, a cute calf, and a first queer crush 💖
Tumblr media
3/7/23 - My Aunt is a Monster by Reimena Yee
A sweet and exciting story of adventurers, curses and mysteries with a healthy dash of queer and disabled representation, all whilst learning to see past first impressions.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shares Map of Roswell Georgia Best Wedding Venues
North of Atlanta there is the historic downtown Roswell, where there are some of the best historic wedding venues in the United States. The main road going through town and most of the buildings have been untouched for over a hundred years.  It will take you back in time and give your wedding a touch of grandeur.
The crown jewel and my favorite of the venues in the area is Naylor Hall.  Naylor was built in 1840 by the founder of Roswell Barrington King for H.W. Proudfoot, and his wife.  Proudfoot was the bookkeeper at Roswell Mill, the anchor business of the town.  In the 1930’s Colonel Harrison Broadwell purchased the property and named it Naylor Hall in honor of his wife’s family.  The Colonel added many of the improvements that you can still see today such as the large columns, the handcrafted woodwork, and the large porticos encompassing the original structure. Finally, the property was purchased by Sunny Bailey 30 years ago.  She had the vision and fortitude to transform this historic landmark to the wedding venue it is today.  They have the best staff in the business with Abbey at the helm.  Please stop by and see how they can help your vision come true.
Primrose Cottage is owned by Magic Moments and A Divine Event.  Primrose Cottage was also built by Roswell King for his daughter.  It has a stately lawn and garden in the back for your wedding ceremony.  The interior has a luxurious Bridal Suite with ample room for your bridal party and make up team.  Also, upstairs is a balcony that overlooks the garden and the entrance to the large ballroom downstairs.  The Ballroom has hardwood floors and floor to ceiling windows with a picture window to the English garden.   It is a venue swimming in charm.
