I was originally going for more of a complex design but came to the conclusion that drawing barf and belch was really hard, so I went with a simpler design with a fun color scheme 🪄🐀🫶

After seeing the live action trailer, I can just say the dragon designs are definitely.....something.....so I felt inspired to draw the main 5 dragons, + a terrible terror, a hobgobbler, and Cloudjumper because why not.

httyd sketches I’ve compiled from the past couple of days v_v;;) I’ve been learning to draw the dragons and am studying a lot of nico marlet’s art for it…… barf& belch hold a special place in my heart so of course i also had to draw their silly humans. And their silly humans’ fave too. but no one told me the real struggle wld be drawing stoick the vast in all his glory. Omfg. His beard is awesome it’s shaped like a star.

and modern au………..!!!! have been debating this with a friend. toothless is a cat until he is a service dog. do you feel me? and hiccup wears his fishinf get up to his classes after getting up at 4am to help his dad draw in the fish that morning.snug little cozy coastal town that has more secrets than it should. just found out dreamworks did barf and belch's gas and spark ability the wrong way around in httyd 3. ruffnut sits on barf who breathes gas, left to the audience, but in the hidden world, barf is the one sparking

In love with how the gang interacts with one another's dragons.

Like, these dragons are their friends too just as much as their own are.

Tuffnut will give Toothless high fives and talk to him, Astrid will bring Hookfang fish and laugh with him at Snotlout and they'll give each other's dragons nicknames and communicate with them like friends and Hiccup will be sassy at Barf and Belch and he loves all dragons so so much but especially the ones he bonded with first and they're so close to him and one of the riders will look after Meatlug if Fishlegs is unavailable and share a look with Toothless when Hiccup is being stupid and they'd get so protective of Hookfang, Tuffnut will tell them bedtime stories and Snotlout will vent to them and Hiccup treats them like one would humans and Fishlegs will infodump about something to them and Astrid will give them The Look™️ that she gives her friends if they're being stupid and Ruffnut will involve them in her prank plans and they all talk to one another's dragon like those dragons are their best friends and any of them would recognize one another's dragons even in hoards of wild monstrous nightmares or nadders or gronckles or zipplebacks

I'm just so normal about the gang and their dragons.

Heyyy a bit different from my usual posts but I've been on a httyd kick lately and you will have to suffer with me. <3 I drew Barf & Belch because they were my favorites when I was little and still are. That first scene with them is engraved in my mind forever.
