Sweet things
@bucktommyfluffebruary - day two prompt ‘cooking together’
Notes: established relationship, domestic fluff, Tommy is too busy staring at his boyfriend to be an effective sous chef | Rating: G | Words: 700
[Read on A03]
——-
“Sorry I’m late!” Tommy calls through the house, “there was an accident, traffic was a nightmare.”
“That’s okay,” a familiar voice calls back. “I had to start without you.” Tommy comes into the kitchen to find Evan whisking a bowl of egg whites. “Need to keep on schedule so it has to bake and cool before we put it together.”
Tommy half remembers the 20 minute run down of why you have to let a meringue cool slowly, something to do with sudden temperature change causing cracks? In his defence he had been half asleep at the time, laid out on the sofa with Evan’s fingers carding through his hair.
Ever since Athena had assigned them the dessert portion of the menu for their barbecue this evening Evan had been spending every spare minute searching for the perfect thing to make. Several internet deep dives, three new recipe books and countless conversations later he had come to the conclusion that a pavlova would be perfect for the job.
“It’s the best of all things.” He had explained one evening, plastered against Tommy’s back while he did the washing up. “It’s crunchy and chewy, sweet but if you choose the right flavour crème, I was thinking passion fruit, then it’s not too sweet. Plus it’s light enough for after a big meal, perfect for a summer barbecue.”
Tommy comes around the kitchen island, rests his hand on Evan’s hip and presses a quick kiss to the back of his neck.
“Hope you didn’t do all of my jobs for me. I want to look Hen in the eye and tell her I helped make this thing, I’m pretty sure it’s high on her list of things she doesn’t believe are possible.”
Evan laughs,
“I need you to separate some more eggs, 3 yolks should do and then they need to go on a double boiler-” he shifts out of Tommy grasp, pulling the scales out of a nearby cupboard and measuring sugar into a bowl.
“I thought we were making meringue.”
“We’re making a pavlova, three key components; meringue, crème and fruit.”
“Oh yes of course, how could I forget the three key components.”
Evan pulls a face of mock shock at Tommy’s sarcastic tone.
“How indeed” he reaches up and taps the recipe card taped to the cupboard. “All the instructions are there if you need them.”
Tommy separates the eggs carefully, and puts them in a double boiler on the stove. He is stirring them gently when he feels Evan’s gaze boring into the side of him.
“Can I help you with something?”
Evan waggles his hand in the direction of the drawer Tommy is stood in front of.
“Can you pass me a spoon?”
“Sure.”
He digs one out and gives it to Evan, their fingers brushing over the handle. His gaze lingers on Evan for a moment too long.
“You know you have to stir those constantly right?”
“Mmm?” Truth be told, Tommy is a little less focused on the steaming bowl and more on his gorgeous boyfriend. He feels a bit lost with the way the afternoon sun is catching the lighter tones in Evan’s hair, lifting the golden tones of his skin.
Evan reaches over with the hand not currently occupied whisking egg whites and closes it over Tommy’s wrist, forcing him to stir the mixture.
“If you don’t they will scramble.”
“We can’t have that.” Tommy murmurs softly, still entranced by the way the light makes Evan’s eyes shine, picking up the different shades of blue in his eyes and making them sparkle.
Evan catches Tommy’s eyes and stops for a moment, his trademark frantic cooking energy slowing down as he looks at Tommy. He knows realistically that 24 hours is not a hugely long time to go without seeing someone but the way he feels immediately lighter under Tommy’s gaze makes him realise how much he misses him when he’s at work.
“Sorry,” he mumbles “I didn’t even say hello.”
“That’s okay baby, I know how important the structural integrity of meringues is to you.”
“You’re important to me too.”
Tommy smiles and Evan thinks he may never get tired of seeing it.

Bad Batch Modern AU Headcanons Under the Cut
Echo
Does not like red wine. It gives him a headache and heartburn (he’s just like me fr).
Plans Friday Fundays with Omega after she gets out of school.
Great at cooking and baking, but absolutely needs to follow the recipe. If he’s tries to improvise or experiment, the food is not edible at all.
Can flawlessly do a shot with no hands.
Has done a keg stand.
Before the loss of his limbs, he used to NEVER get hungover, no matter how much he drank. Even now, his hangovers are pretty mild. He’s just built different.
Was recruited to be one of the room parents for Omega’s class.
The only one who can get through to Crosshair when his mental health gets really bad.
Has their house decorated like the most stereotypical suburban mom. I’m talking Live Laugh Love signs, a beach-themed bathroom, so many throw pillows and blankets that you can barely sit, a rotation on of seasonal decor, the list goes on.
Hunter
Cannot sing for shit.
The king of dad jokes.
Has absolutely no fashion sense. Negative drip. He’s wearing socks and sandals unironically.
World’s worst cook. Managed to burn and undercook a pancake. Gave Crosshair food poisoning.
Banned from grilling after he set all the food they got for their 4th of July barbecue on fire.
Gets migraines. He gets extremely sensitive to sound and smells.
The only person Crosshair lets look after him when he isn’t feeling well.
Views expiration dates as suggestions. Somehow has never gotten sick.
Constantly going on Tinder dates.
Tech
Total chick magnet.
Does not realize this.
Constantly drives over the speed limit (except in school zones) but miraculously has never gotten a speeding ticket.
Best at making cocktails.
The most intense one about making sure they all eat healthy.
His shoulders and neck get really tense, from sitting at a computer and from carrying most of his stress there.
Does not like crispy bacon.
Wrecker
Grill master.
Actually great at cooking and baking. He can improvise and experiment with ease and the food comes out even better.
Always showing off photos of Omega when he’s at work.
Saw the Barbie movie more than once. He cried each time.
LOVES to listen to Kesha.
His music taste is basically just 2000’s-2010’s party girl music.
Used to choreograph dances that he would then perform with Crosshair and Fives for the rest of their family when they were kids.
Gives the best massages.
Wears the New Balance dad sneakers. Crosshair HATES them.
Crosshair
Banned from their local Applebee’s for getting extremely sloppy off their dollaritas.
Gets motion sick sometimes, mostly in cars.
HATES air travel.
Top three artists on Spotify are My Chemical Romance, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey (he’s just like me fr)
Also gets migraines. Unlike Hunter, he isn’t that sound sensitive, but he gets extremely sensitive to light and smells and gets auras with his migraines.
Also saw the Barbie movie more than once (he went with Wrecker). He also cried.
Has a crush on Tony Soprano (don’t ask why the thought came into my head and wouldn’t leave)
Babies and toddlers love him for some reason.
Will not eat or drink something if the expiration date is within two days. Gets extremely grossed out by Hunter not caring for expiration dates.
Secretly a hopeless romantic.
Omega
Learned her first curse word from Echo when he let one slip while driving.
Repeated the word in front of Hunter, who nearly had a heart attack.
Looks just like Crosshair when he was a kid.
Likes going out with Crosshair because he almost always gets her a little treat.
Gets annoyed by how many people in her class and some of their parents have a crush on one of her brothers.
Has tried to play matchmaker for her brothers before.
All of her brothers give amazing hugs, but she secretly thinks Echo’s are the best.
Batcher
She was a rescue dog.
She’s a gray pittie.
Her favorite person is Crosshair and she’s always following him around and is always at his side.
Goes crazy for cold cuts.
Was originally going to be brought to the shelter if they couldn’t find an owner, but Hunter agreed to keep her when he saw how happy she made Omega and Crosshair.
Her tail has a kink because it broke and didn’t heal properly.
Feel free to add more if you’d like! I have included some of these in my Modern AU works.

from one admirer to another : runny?
Tumblr media
pairing: leon kennedy x reader || masterpost: from one admirer to another
Tumblr media
synopsis: from one admirer to another, an online penpal service, allows for two people with common interests to write to each other without ever revealing their actual address! Luckily for both you and Leon, you get matched up! What do eggs and Christmas even have in common anyway? sure hope it's that modeling business and NOT that Ada Wong addiction.
Tumblr media
featuring: reader as model number two // leon as Leon
Tumblr media
My dearest, model number two,
I've always been rookiecookie, but I guess that flew past your notice back then during the cupsleeve event. There's nothing I find strange about trusting you. If anything, I find it to be as natural as breathing.
What do I fall back to on a hard day? I like cookie dough ice cream with a marathon of my favorite show, huddled into the corner of my couch with Sunny on my lap. When I'm out ordering... typically it's a gelato of some kind. You know, family roots and all. I still have a family recipe — if you're down to come over again to make it.
I like hundred-petaled roses. My dad used to bring them home for my mom, and she used to keep everyone he had. She'd dehydrate them, and then she had a pretty clear bottle with every single petal she had ever received from dad. I found it kind of disgusting back when I was a kid, but thinking back upon it, it was kind of cute. Does that count as a fond memory as well?
You don't need to glance through that veil of mine. I'll let you in willingly, and then when you are comfortable, I'll lay myself bare by you, telling you findings from the heart. Who knows, maybe that can be at your place? (and if not, please let me visit anyway. I'd like to meet sesame bun.)
If we do end up dating, then I'll definitely fly you in for my shows and shoots. You can take exclusive backstage photos of me as well. Who doesn't like behind-the-scenes content of their favorite model? I'm sure they'd like content of me looking at you all stupid in love too. The people are desperate.
Oh, right. Before I forget. I'm hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at my place on in the club room. Come over? We start at 5. I can take you home after.
Please? Leon
Tumblr media
Leon drops his letter off a week before he even thinks about buying groceries for the dinner. To be fair, it isn't until Claire texts him a grocery list that he remembers that he should probably get ready to cook. He'd suggest Chris' place, but he has a grill, and it had been a while since they got to get dinner together. The club room has a pretty good barbecue... and it wasn't like the turkey was going to be fried like all the other times at Chris' place... Leon wonders how the hell the turkey's going to work out. Yes, Chris is making it. No, he doesn't know what it's going to be if not fried like all the other years.
Instead, he follows Claire's orders on what to buy and not to buy, pushing the cart through the aisles as he checks the chat history for any other item to buy, before your phone call rings in.
"Hey."
"Got your letter. Wesker's hosting us for Thanksgiving, unfortunately." You mumble. "I sent my letter earlier today, so it should arrive right before Thanksgiving."
"You can't make it?"
"How 'bout a date instead?" You check your phone. "I can come over to help cook. Wesker refuses to let any of us cook, so I'm not doing anything in the afternoon. What do you make for Thanksgiving?"
"I was thinking cookies or pie."
"Oh... cookies..." You mumble. "I'll bring ingredients then! I'll also bring a pie because, well, there's a really good pie place by mine and I thought I'd share the joy."
"Will you bring the leftovers home?"
"Hm? Am I not allowed to visit you over the weeks?"
Leon malfunctions, blinking. "What?"
"Leaving leftovers at your place? So I have an excuse to visit later? Forget I said—"
"NO! No, oh, please come over. I'd love to have you at my place over the weekend." Leon saves himself. God.
He's.
Yeah.
He's down awful.

apologies its not a prompt from the headcanon list but may i request a cg!peter hale headcanon post 👀
- @bebbie-bilinski
Caregiver Peter Hale headcanons
Tumblr media
makes the best food imaginable!! he’s a trained professional chef and he puts it to good use
super accommodating to any food sensory issues or other aversions, he will make up his own recipe on the spot if his little isn’t keen on the previous one
ready and waiting to spoil his little!! he’s rich okay, how can he not spoil them
such a menace and fully encourages his little to be one too
he likes to help his little play pranks on Derek or other members of the pack (mostly derek tho)
secretly super sentimental and keeps every single picture drawn or rock gifted from his little
likes to share stories of the Hale family from before the fire with his little
maintains that his older sister was not as cool as he is
if he needs someone to watch over his little his go to is either Derek or Melissa, but Chris or one of the older kids from the pack is fine
he doesn’t like Noah. Noah and him are enemies but in a playful way and Peter will make a point to hand his little over to Melissa (or whoever) in front of Noah with a wide grin that usually gets him at least an eye roll
will cave almost immediately if given puppy dog eyes
loves to carry his little around!!! he finds it really special that his little trusts him in that way
trust is a big deal to him, he has and will cry thinking about how vulnerable his little is comfortable being around him - or any little that slips around him tbh -
Melissa occasionally has barbecues and Peter will help cook the food before him & Mel sit and watch the chaos of their littles and the pack interacting - cg duties fall to derek during this as he’s the youngest adult -
he’s lowkey gotten Mel to show her chaos side around him in the form of wine tastings and heavy discussions about proper caring methods for littles
they’ll scroll on reddit and read over peoples posts then discuss them like it’s a debate, even if they almost always agree on it
always has the best nicknames!! super sappy too
he’s a night owl and loves sitting out on the balcony of his apartment with a telescope to show his little the stars & constellations
has a photo album that’s just Malia and his little, those are his kids and he is damn proud!!
finds any excuse to have a family dinner/pack dinner or a party
he likes having everyone around and seeing them all getting along without the stress of the supernatural threats they have to deal with
kisses the top of his littles head/their forehead before he leaves no matter where he’s going
he’s got a box of story books he reads to his little but he also likes to make up stories on the spot
when Derek was a kid he had nightmares and occasionally went to Peter for comfort so Peter got pretty good at making up stories quickly
sometimes he’ll get Derek in on it and they’ll go back and forth with plot points and such

Horizon
The ship moved lazily with the waves, every so slowly shifting from one tilt to another. The seas were easy though and the movements subtle, easy to miss if you weren't paying attention. Still, every so often Jovana would feel sensitive to that gradual list and have to remind herself that she didn't get seasick. So far so good thankfully and they were near the end of their passage.
Up on deck she looked out to the horizon. The crew had said they should be able to make out the coastline this afternoon even if they wouldn't dock until the morning. Nothing yet though.
She had a proper boat drink in her left hand, bright and colorful with citrus and rum, and a frilled kebab in her right. Alternating bites of barbecued shrimp and mango were lined up and ready for her attention but her gaze was focused ahead.
Verboten moved to stand beside her, a bouquet of skewers held in his left hand for sharing. "I love the sauce they used on this, I'm going to have to get the recipe before we get off." He looked over to her then with an affectionate smile. "You're not actually worried about meeting up with them are you? You'll see, they're a great group."
"Uh huh. It's not my first time meeting them and I've heard your stories. No, it's fine. I'm just looking forward to getting back on land I think." She smiled and wiped a bit of barbecue sauce from his muzzle. "And maybe a little nervous."

There is: (i got too excited and it's a bit long sorry)
What kind of brazillian foods/drinks the mercs would like the most
Tumblr media
Scout:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would love any kinds of street foods, his favorite ones would be coxinha, a fried snack stuffed with chicken; Hot dogs in the São Paulo way, they usually have mashed potatoes, corn, peas and shoestring potatoes above (with ketchup and mustard, of course) and pastel, a fried dough (the texture is similar to a puff pastry) that can have many kinds of fillings, the most usual one is mozzarella cheese. He also would love eat this while drink sugarcane juice (it's a classical combo).
Soldier:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is funny, bc in my head all the other mercs had to lie to him that they were getting 100% american food so he could at least try some, and he keep eating it without knowing the thruth. His favorite ones would also be ones of the most iconical ones, by irony of the destiny, such as feijoada and pão de queijo. He would also love farofa (is made either with corn or cassava, braised with oil and can have diverses other igredients too) but since Soldier is build diferently, insted of eating it as a side dish he just cook a huge ass pan of farofa and eat all of it with a spoon.
Pyro:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would love brigadeiro, because is sweet as him (awwn). He would love churrasco (brazilian barbecue), so much that he, engineer and sniper would be the ultimate churrasqueiros of the team (however only engineer and sniper are alowed to touch on the grill since the incident). From the many things that can be made in a churrasco, Pyro likes garlic bread the most (because it gets burned at outisde really quickly but still ok to eat). The last thing from his list would be cuscuz paulista, recipe that blend corn flour and many other igredients, and that people from other brazilian states keep saying its ugly but THATS UNTRUE YALL JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT - me, a sad paulistana.
Engineer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As said before, he would love churrasco, and any kind of red meat should be his favorite (picanha, striploin…). He would also like the local beer options and condensed milk pudding (pudim). No special rasion on the last one (besides giving all the mercs at least 3 itens).
Demoman:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would LOVE drinking cachaça (alchoolic drink made with sugarcane) and caipirinha as well (drink made with cachaça, lime, sugar and ice). For eat, his favorite food should be torresmo (pork skin with fat cut into small pieces and fried until crispy), that is also a good side dish in brazilian bar's.
Heavy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His first favorite option would be estrogonofe, wich is actually a brazilian version of a russian recipe (stroganoff), with some alterations. He would also enjoy virado à paulista (plate composed of a beans and cassava flour mix, together with pork chop, tuscan sausage, fried egg, braised cabbage and a piece of breaded banana), it's a really big meal to a really big guy. Finally, he would go for "caipiroska" for drinking, with is a caipirinha variation but with vodka in the place of cachaça (wich i didn't know existed until i started writing this kkkkkk)
Medic:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cuca de banana (a cake with bananas and a sugar & cinnamon on top) would be one of his favorite desserts (it also has a germanic origin i also didn't knew kkkkkk). He also would like specific foods from Bahia, such as Acarajé (dumpling made from black-eyed pea dough, onion and salt, and fried in palm oil, can be stuffed with shrimp or other options of filling) and cocada (candy made with coconut), but I can't specify why yet bc it envolves a headcanon/AU i'm still making and i want it to be a silly surprise, i'll edit here once it's done.
Sniper:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last one of the ultimate churrasqueiros, his favorite item would be chiken's hearts. Aparently pumpkings are very used in australian culinary, so i like to imagine he would also like doce de abobora (dessert made with pumpking). Finally, i guess tapioca (cassava gum, can be fried like a pancake and stuffed to taste, among other uses) just suits him idk.
Spy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would love Carolina (looks like a éclair, but is smaller, rounder, and filled with dulce de leche) and sonho (fried dough, usualy filled with vanilla cream and with sprinkled sugar above. The name of this recipe translate to "dream" in a literal form btw kkkkk). Ending this list, Spy would enjoy queijo com goiabada (a slice of minas cheese thogeter with a slice of guava paste).
Thank you for reading until here, and sorry if i made you fell hungry hihihi
holy shit this is so good
also i want carolina that looks so good
i also want the sugarcane drinks, please god i’ll do anything

Hi Jen! 👋
Just popping into your ask box today to ask: what personal headcanons about LS have been floating around in your head nowadays? This is kind of a broad question, but I guess... ones surrounding food?
Okay starting with my firmest food headcanon: TK can cook. Simple as that lol. But if someone else offers to cook for him, he definitely won’t be saying no. That’s one of the many reasons he and Carlos work so well together.
That being said (which is basically canon at this point), Carlos loves to cook for people. Love language!! I think Carlos learned to cook from his mom and he loves those memories with her even if in the moment, his internal thoughts on if his father saw him as too soft were growing
Paul is the best cook at the firehouse hands down and everyone loves when it’s his night. That firehouse table is full and half of the people don’t even work there. No one bats an eye when Carlos or Grace or Wyatt show up and grab a plate
Judd can make a mean barbecue. He also handles all things breakfast. Grace takes care of the rest and makes sure that man eats things like eggplant or squash which Judd is always skeptical about but ends up loving it, prompting a ‘why do you doubt me?’ from Grace
Marjan is always down to go out and try any new cuisine. She can get them a table at the new restaurant in town that has like a three month wait list
Nancy likes baking and the first time she shared this hobby with the group is the first 126 hang she went to when she felt a little out of place and still on the outside. She wanted to give them a reason to like her, but she hasn’t told anyone that
Mateo lived on takeout, frozen pizza, and boxed mac and cheese at his old place with his idiot roommates, but now that he has a full kitchen and learns things like what a pasta cutter is, he starts slowly trying his hand at cooking.
Tommy is constantly trying to make food like Charles once did because she doesn’t want the girls to miss his cooking and they notice this, telling her that they love her cooking just as much. When they get a little older, they all start to make Charles’ recipes together on nights when they miss him a little more than usual
Owen’s health food craze is powered by his need to keep his body appearing strong and healthy to hide the fact that his mind isn’t always in the same state. It’s why we see him eating a bucket of chicken when he thinks he’s alone for the night.
I think it was Paul in season 1 who called the 126 the hardest bunch to cook for but even with everyone’s differing diets, everyone always leaves firehouse dinners, 126 hangs, birthdays, whatever it may be with a full stomach because everyone is so considerate of what people can and can’t eat and the spread is for everyone

Sauces Master List
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mayo
1 egg at room temperature (I use my grandmother's farm fresh eggs)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp red or white wine vinegar
1/4 tsp kosher salt,
1 cup canola oil (or other neutral oil)
In a blender or with a stick blender, process everything but the oil until well combine (more is better). Slowly drizzle in oil until the mayo gets a bit thick. After that, it is safe to dump in the rest and mix until homogenous. Refrigerate to allow it to thicken.
Tumblr media
Ranch
1 c mayo
1 c sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tsp ranch powder (Hidden Valley sells packets and bottles)
1 tsp dill
⅓ cup milk
Combine and refrigerate to allow it to thicken.
Tumblr media
Chick-Fil-A Sauce
1/2 c mayo
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp barbecue sauce
2 tbsp honey
salt & pepper
Combine and refrigerate to allow it to thicken.
Tumblr media
Bang Bang Sauce
1/2 c tbsp mayo
1/2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
2 tbsp sriracha (use with caution)
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 tbsp honey
salt
Combine and refrigerate to allow it to thicken.
Tumblr media
Dijon Aioli
1/2 c mayo
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
salt and pepper
Combine and refrigerate to allow it to thicken.
Tumblr media
Lav's Tips For Prep:
To make mayo I personally use a stick blender and double the recipe to fit in a wide-mouth quart-sized jar. I make the whole thing in the jar and then put on a lid and it's done.
Once you have mayo, you have the base for most dressings.

Cultural tradition
Tumblr media
Paring: Agent Whiskey x Female Reader
Word counting: 840
Rating: +18
Warning: Brief implied smut.
A/N: Let's pretend I ain't late with this. I'll already apologize for any possible mistake related to Christmas celebrations in the USA because Google may have confused me a bit hahaha. This is based on the Christmas traditions we have here where I live (south of Brazil), but I believe it can work with any other cultural habit if you ignore a few details.
Main Masterlist | Cowboycember Masterlist
Tumblr media
You always had wondered what it would be like to have your own Christmas night, at your house with people you really cared about, and that moment was finally becoming a reality.
Of course, you bugged Jack’s mind for a moment when you started to talk about your plans for December 24th, and only then did you remember that you two had been raised into different Christmas traditions.
“I understand that this might be confusing to you, but it’s so weird for me to just celebrate on the 25th.” You shrugged with a soft expression, playing with one of Jack’s hands.
“To be honest, I liked the idea of having celebrations.” He chuckled softly “I’m totally up to do it.”
“Fine!” you sounded excited “Then we’ll have to do some groceries tomorrow and I hope your barbecue skills are not rusty.”
“Barbecue?” Jack questioned with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, because turkey ain’t an item of the party.” You answered calmly.
“This gonna be quite interesting.” Jack shook his head with a smile.
Tumblr media
The further you got into the grocery list, the more confused Jack was while trying to realize what would be the result of it, since you bought some stuff he couldn’t promptly associate into any familiar recipe like rice, corn, peas, and short ribs.
As time passed in the kitchen, Jack could only get more interested as the whole dinner started to take shape. The peas and corn jointed with potatoes, mayonnaise, and a bit of parsley, turning into a salad; the rice would be cooked to be a side dish, and the short ribs having the barbecue grill as their destination, but not without you making Jack surprised and confused once more with your instructions to season the ribs only with coarse salt and nothing more.
“Honey, are you sure about this?” Jack questioned one last time with the salt jar in one hand, making you laugh.
“Yes, Jack. I’m sure, I’ve helped my father and watched my uncles do this a thousand times, I’m sure about what I’m telling you.” You affirmed while moving your attention from the onions you were cutting.
“If you say so…” he chuckled and started to add the salt to the ribs, then looking at what you were doing “What’s that?”
“Well, back home we call it vinaigrette, even though it has nothing to do with the French dressing.” You shrugged after finishing chopping the onions and added them to a bowl with chopped tomatoes, gently mixing them.
“Only gets more interesting.” Jack said sincerely.
Tumblr media
Not that later, the guests showed up, your dear best friend, Ginger, Tequila, Jack’s parents and sister, and Theo, their dog. You were a bit worried if they would engage the idea when you made the invitations and all of them accepted without thinking twice, then suddenly you had been transported back to your child and teenagerhood, having a lot of people you loved and cared about sitting on the backyard and having a good time while drinking and eating.
You were prepared for any strangeness from them about the unusual meal, but as you listened to the compliments and saw the food you were sure would result in a bunch of leftovers disappearing, you couldn’t be happier for having been able to provide a good Christmas dinner for your family.
Which, for sure, included your cowboy.
Of course, you knew that Jack was a man of appetite, that soft stomach hadn’t appeared out of nowhere, but he definitely exceeded your expectations, eating everything as if it was the best thing in the world, probably because it tasted very much like that. He liked the food he had grown up eating on Christmas period, but something prepared by you with that whole emotional meaning would unquestionably be his favorite, what with the addition that everything on that dinner had hit right on his tastes was the recipe for a complete success.
“Finally, I can break free.” Jack said while watching the cars leaving the ranch, undoing his belt and opening the button of his jeans.
“Maybe you should try a non-vacuum-packed one next year.” You joked holding one short rib, finishing eating it.
“I’ll ignore your audacity because that dinner of yours was a masterpiece of food.” He shook his head and sat on the chair in front of you, taking advantage of the fact that you were sitting on the table to caress your thighs.
“Wise decision.” You chuckled and cleaned your hands on a napkin.
“I can’t with you sometimes.” He smirked and leaned forward to plant a kiss on the side of your knee.
“Daniels…” you sighed quietly as his lips moved further on your skin.
“C’mon, sugar, y’really didn’t expect me to want some dessert after such a good dinner?” Jack concluded his question with a nibble on your inner thigh.
“Can’t say you don’t have a good point.” You smiled already running your fingers on his hair and relaxing on the table, more than happy to be eaten out by your once more hungry husband.

Fuck me, so I got into Stardew mods, right? On this my second modded run, I add LoveofCooking and pretty much the whole PPJA suite. Amongst others, but let’s focus here
BECAUSE I ENJOY COMPLETIONISM, I want to get Perfection from Qi, right? Requiring all shipped things, all cooked things, etc
There’s shit you CAN’T GET in the game but are REQUIRED for Perfection. When I say “can’t get” I mean either the recipe is broken, there ISN’T a recipe, or there isn’t a recipe AND you can’t buy the fucking thing. I don’t code yet, but I can adequately poke shit until it works, so I went into the various .jsons to figure it the fuck out. SUCCESSFULLY, much to my satisfaction
Buuuuuuut at least for the PPJA stuff, there’s no section I can find anywhere to post my solutions for whomever else is losing their mind? Maybe there’s a discord I’m ignoring, but on Nexus the mod authors took away the posts/bugs tabs, and I didn’t see any comment sections on any of the, like, five or eight semi-defunct wikis and githubs and everything. Love the PPJA stuff, it’s a massive endeavor. Probably stripped out the interaction options because they have enough to do, but it definitely leaves the users in a “figure it out or get fucked” situation
So anyway here’s some of my fuckin notes, added as I find and figure them out
”Broken” = recipe / producer rules exist in .json, but can’t be used in-game (for machines, sometimes because of duplicate InputIdentifiers)
”Missing” = recipe / producer rules straight don’t exist in .json, but item is required for Shipping or Cooking perfection. You can tell what these are by using LookUpAnything (or checking every Objects folder, if you hate yourself) (Updated w/ more fixes) PPJA - ARTISAN VALLEY
Sorbet Machine -- go into the PFM folder to the ProducerRules.json
BROKEN: Strawberry Dragon Fruit Fruit Sorbet, Dragon Fruit Sorbet
swap duplicate InputIdentifier and one of its AdditionalFuels. Make sure all InputIdentifiers are unique
MISSING: Mango Passion Fruit Fruit Sorbet
copy/paste one of the working rules and change out the InputIdentifier/AdditionalFuels. Use item description and/or culinary judgement for ingredients
Ice Cream Machine -- this ain’t the mod’s fault, but the 3rd party Documentation erroneously lists banana sapling as an ingredient for Banana Ice Cream, but you just need a damn banana. IQ of lots but that took me WAY too long to figure out
Keg / Still -- go into the PFM folder to the ProducerRules.json
BROKEN: Cauim
move this to Still section, change “Keg” to “Still”    {        "ProducerName": "Keg",        "InputIdentifier": "Cassava",        "InputStack": 1,        "MinutesUntilReady": 2360,        "OutputIdentifier": "Cauim",        "Sounds": ["Ship"],    },
Various -- go into the JA folder, Objects folder, relevant item folder, object.json items needed for the Shipping collection that don’t have a recipe BECAUSE THEIR INGREDIENTS DON’T EXIST YET.
MISSING: Carolina Reaper Extract, Ghost Pepper Extract, Poblano Extract, Scotch Bonnet Extract, Serrano Extract
add this to the line after recipe, adjusting From/Price as needed "CanPurchase": true, "PurchaseFrom": "Gus", "PurchasePrice": 1000,
PPJA - FRESH MEAT
DNA Sequencer -- go into the PFM folder to the ProducerRules.json
BROKEN: Chicken DNA, Duck DNA
either: change OutputProbability from 1 to .5
or: remove this from select Chicken/Duck input options, using a list of Vanilla item codes to figure out InputIdentifiers (I took it off duck feather & void egg):        "AdditionalOutputs": [        {            "OutputProbability": 1,            "OutputIdentifier": "Bird DNA",        }, ],
Recipes -- go into the JA folder, Objects folder, relevant item folder, object.json
BROKEN: Barbecue Sausage, Beast n’ Onion Handpie, Chicken Nuggets, Chippy Curry, Cottage Pie, Fish and Chips, Phoenix Au Vin, Schnitzel, Spaghetti Bolognese, Sweet and Sour Pork with Rice, Sweet n’ Sour Bites, Teriyaki, Venison Handpie,
either: add this line after PurchasePrice, adjusting requirements if needed "PurchaseRequirements": ["HasCookingRecipe Batter", "y 3",],
or: add missing comma after quotes in PurchaseRequirements (or at end of PurchaseRequirements line)
or: add this line above PurchaseFrom (if the IsDefault line is there, replace with this)        "CanPurchase": true,
or: make sure the brackets above PurchaseFrom are }], not },],
BROKEN: Roasted Fowl
just replace all lines between Count and NameLocalization with this (it’s all sorts of fucked up)        }],        "PurchaseFrom": "Gus",        "PurchasePrice": 2000,        "PurchaseRequirements": ["HasCookingRecipe Batter", "y 3",],    },    "NameLocalization":    {
BROKEN: Tonkatsu
same as above, replace all lines between Count and NameLocalization with this        }],        "CanPurchase": true,        "PurchaseFrom": "Gus",        "PurchasePrice": 2000,        "PurchaseRequirements": ["HasCookingRecipe Batter", "y 4",],    },
FRESH MEAT FOR BUG NET
DNA Sequencer -- in ProducerRules.json
BROKEN: every single goddamn one
for each, replace “Critter Cage - ” with “Critter Cage: ”
fucking hell
MISSING: Critter DNA
where appropriate (I did everything except birds), add this after Sounds line        "AdditionalOutputs": [        {            "OutputProbability": .5,            "OutputIdentifier": "Critter DNA",        }, ],
PPJA - EVEN MORE RECIPES
Cooking - go into the JA folder, Objects folder, item folder, object.json
MISSING: Black Coffee, Milky Coffee, Milky Strawberry Juice, Peach Milk, Pathos Cookie, Cola can purchase product from Gus, but recipe itself doesn’t exist. Needed for Cooking perfection
replace Recipe line through PurchasePrice line with the following. Edit Ingredients/From/Price as needed (this was Pathos Cookie)    "Recipe":    {        "ResultCount": 1,        "Ingredients": [            {                "Object": 246,                "Count": 1,            },            {                "Object": 260,                "Count": 1,            },            {                "Object": "Mint",                "Count": 1,            },        ],        "CanPurchase": true,        "PurchaseFrom": "Gus",        "PurchasePrice": 700,            },
BROKEN: Lemon Pie, Meuniere, Halloumi Burger, Salmon Fillet
either: add missing comma after quotes in PurchaseRequirements
or: add this line above PurchaseFrom (if the IsDefault line is there, replace with this)       "CanPurchase": true,
**Halloumi Burger, might need to delete “Bread” from PurchaseRequirements, leaving just “Halloumi” (I edited several things, so not sure what all fixed it, but “Halloumi Bread” isn’t an actual recipe, so requiring it means you’ll never meet that requirement)
LOVE OF COOKING
Various -- go to assets --> (eg)NettlesPack --> Objects --> (eg)Nettle Tea --> object.json
MISSING: Nettle Tea, Cider, maybe others?
change “CanPurchase” to true (default.json in i18n folder says you learn how to brew Nettle Tea as a cooking skill level-up bonus, NO EFFING CLUE how to make that not glitched. Game currently requires it for Shipping, not Cooking)
FORAGE OF FERNGILL
Kombucha Jar --  go into the PFM folder to the ProducerRules.json
BROKEN: Salty Kombucha, Sour Kombucha
replace ContextTags in the InputIdentifiers with object names or vanilla Item IDs
duplicate entire entry w/ new InputIdentifier to have multiple possible inputs

Research has revealed the most hated Christmas traditions as adults slam Elf on The Shelf and fresh sets of pyjamas.
Tumblr media
The study of 2,000 Christmas fans, commissioned by bakery brand St Pierre, also listed the festive traditions from around the world many would like to adopt.
The poll found 27 per cent loathe Santa’s mischievous little helper, while a fifth turn their nose up at getting new pyjamas for the whole family to wear.
Emailing the big man a wish list, receiving a Christmas Eve box, and keeping tabs on Santa’s sleigh via an online tracker also made the list of most disliked modern rituals.
However, receiving a stocking, pantomimes, and eating turkey on Christmas day were among the most loved British festive traditions.
Visiting a Christmas market, carol singing, and leaving milk and cookies out for Santa also made the ‘nice’ list of Christmas activities.
Some also revealed the worldwide traditions they would like to adopt — including tucking into Japan’s fried chicken dinner and marking ‘little Christmas’ on December 23rd like they do in Norway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Iceland’s tradition of giving a book on Christmas, having a barbecue instead of a turkey dinner with all the trimmings as they do in New Zealand, and enjoying a Christmas Eve sauna in the style of Finland also made the list.
A spokesperson for St Pierre said:
“For a lot of families, keeping up with Christmas traditions is an important part of the season and it is what makes this time of year so special.
However, there are some modern customs, which have made their way into people’s homes over recent years.
It’s been interesting to see the nation’s take on these and even more interesting to hear, which global dining traditions Brits would most like to adopt.”
When comparing countries, 32 per cent think our festive customs are mostly inspired by other cultures, rather than being original.
And 20 per cent even believe certain places are better at celebrating Christmas than we are, with the US, Germany and Norway taking the top spots for this.
As a result, 30 per cent are keen to spend this magical time of year in another country, with 22 per cent already having done so.
The study, carried out via OnePoll, found a third enjoy any rituals that involves food or family recipes and 36 per cent claim most of what they do at home revolves around it.
But 21 per cent have their own rituals outside of what is considered ‘typical,’ with 16 per cent seeing Christmas as the perfect time to start a new tradition.
Although 24 per cent claim they take part in certain things each year because they feel like they have to.
Nearly half (48 per cent) also admitted they still carry out some of their family heritages they experienced as a child.
A spokesperson for St Pierre added:
Tumblr media
“It’s great to see food coming in as the number one thing people most enjoy about Christmas – and it’s no wonder as not only is it the perfect time to indulge but it’s also a special time for making memories.
Food is more than a meal on your plate; it’s the nostalgia of growing up, the family recipes that come out once a year, and a wonderful way to bring people together – no matter where we are in the world.”

National Mojito Day
National Mojito Day on July 11 deserves a drink, so let’s toast. What more do you need on a hot summer’s day than to cool off with this classic minty cocktail? The mojito ranks among the nation’s favorite cocktails and is traditionally made with white rum, lime juice, sugar, mint, and sparkling water. It’s a cocktail that is enjoyed for its fresh and unique taste and although the recipe has been revamped many times over with herbs and fruits the classic is still the most adored. So, there’s only one thing left to do. Fill up your glass, put your feet up, and enjoy a mojito or two (we won’t judge) in the sun.
History of National Mojito Day
The mojito is a Cuban creation dating back to 1586. An old tale claims that Sir Francs Drake was seeking out a cure for scurvy and dysentery after his invasion of Cartagena de Indias on his way to Cuba. He returned with a solution – the mojito. It included aguardiente (a distilled South American liquor), mint, and sugarcane. The unusual concoction went down a treat with his crew and many reported reduced symptoms. That mojito was said to be created on La Bodeguita del Medio, an island in Cuba with a bar that the owners still to this day claim was the birthplace of the mojito.
In 1931, a ‘‘Sloppy Joes Havana Bar’’ gave away a cocktail menu and listed on it was a pair of mojito’s – one with gin, one with rum. The recipe was then published in the ‘‘El Floridita Cocktail Book’’ in 1939. Since then, the drink has grown in popularity.
The drink’s rise in popularity in the early 20th century is partly attributed to the author Ernest Hemmingway. It was rumored to be his favorite drink. The mojito is a drink that has become synonymous with summer. It’s fresh taste and cool temperature mixes perfectly with a hot summer’s day. A survey in 2016 found that the mojito was the most popular cocktail in both France and Britain.
National Mojito Day timeline
1500s The Draque Remix
Francis Drake mixes lime, sugar, and mint and calls it ‘‘El Draque’’ as a medicinal mixture.
1800s Havana Ooh Na Na
The mojito is popular in Cuba and the drink becomes refined over the next hundred years.
1930s Boisson
The likes of Brigitte Bardot, as well as other celebrities, admit their love for the drink.
2002 The Name’s Bond
Pierce Brosnan drinks a mojito in ‘‘Die Another Day’’ popularizing the drink.
National Mojito Day Activities
Make your own mojito
Create your own mojito ice cream
Try Mojito cupcakes
Follow the original recipe or be creative and add other ingredients according to your mood. For the classic, put together lime juice, rum, sugar, syrup, soda, and mint. Add some crushed ice and stir. Put it in a pitcher and share it with your guests.
Blend some condensed milk and whipped cream and voila! These two ingredients will freeze without needing an ice cream maker. Then later add 150ml of rum, four limes, and fresh mint leaves.
Try making mojito cupcakes using recipes online. A popular approach is to create a lime-flavored cupcake with a mint-lime syrup covered in rum and lime buttercream. This will impress even the most skeptical guests.

It was discovered that lime juice by itself would have cured the scurvy, but people believed that it was the cocktail that did the trick.
