Hey, remember like 10 years ago when many of us were in our teens and twenties? Remember how there were all those news articles making fun of “millennials and their avocado toast,” that they didn’t know certain skills that had stopped being taught in school, that they were ruining the economy by killing various industries?
Remember how we rightfully said that was bullshit and we would be the generation to end it, that we would be nice to the generation after us?
I’ve seen a couple posts shitting on gen alpha kids. Don’t do that. Remember that they’ve already been through climate disasters, political unrest, and a global pandemic in their young lives. Talk to them. If they’re being rude, it’s probably because they’re struggling, not because they’re evil. Treat them as we wanted to be treated when we were their age. Children are people.

“Yoda is blind to his flaws and the Jedi orders flaws and he needs a wake up call—”
Actually Yoda is the reliable narrator of all time, and lowkey I think a lot of the dislike of him is based in the same ideology that says, “don’t even worry about it gen-z and gen alpha are gonna fix everything save the world,” because so many people that dislike Yoda are also like, “yeah anakin and Ahsoka had everything perfect.” Which, don’t get me wrong I love both of them, but they are very much learning (Ahsoka) and or failing (Anakin) most of the time.
Yoda (and the rest of the council) do not fit into the current generational dynamic in the US (idk if other countries even bother splitting up generations this way, let alone in the same groupings, especially because no country got to have the same post-WWII experience as the US), and neither do any of the other Jedi.
Stop projecting your problems with boomers onto the Jedi Council; *waves hand mysteriously*: those are not the old people in leadership positions you are looking for
You know you're actually looking for? Tarkin, Orn'free Ta, Palpatine, and the ENTIRE SENATE. They are seriously right there.

Random garbage articles from online news networks are like "Gen Z agrees..." "Baby boomers think..." "millennials are all..."
Like where? Was there a summit? Where is this info coming from?? Show me one article that isn't at best poorly sources polls and at worst a single self-selected reddit thread or like 5 tweets. Did you make sure these people are even part of that age bracket?? Or are you just trying to drive a narrative???? Shut the fuck up.

Very much off topic but it has occurred to me that the half-life of intergenerational discourse has shortened considerably over the last few years.
I made a post not too long ago where I was surprised Gen Z was redefined as 1996-2009 (or any such similar range) and I've been thinking about it- and the more I do the more I'm sure of one thing:
Gen Z and Alpha are being exposed to more ire at their existence at much younger ages and much faster than Millenials did from their elders.
When the whole "Blame Millenials for everything" era was in full swing, the vast majority of Millenials were adults (the fact Millenials were adults and not children was a pretty big part of the backlash against the ire). All the "avocado toast rhetoric" peaked when most Millenials were adults.
But Gen Z (my apparent generation) is half adults, half minors at the time of writing. I was born in 2000, I'm 23. But Gen Z kids born after 2005 aren't adults yet. So all of the current doomerism about our generation is annoying for me, but must be so demoralising if you're born after 2005. Like, I can't escape the feeling current generation discourse has given up on finding hope in late Gen Zers. It doesn't seem to know how to categorise early Gen Zers. We straddle Millenial and typical Gen Z experiences and so kinda get the worst ire from both.
Not to mention I've recently seen a whole lot of ire directed at Gen Alpha. C'mon these are literal children now being roped into generation discourse about how they're apparently hopeless or ipad babies.
It was one thing for Millenials to deal with this as adults. It's annoying as fuck for me to deal with it now as an adult. But I worry so much for younger Gen Zers and Gen Alpha who have to bear the brunt of grown ass adults using generations like they're star signs. If you find yourself saying "Gen Z/Alpha are so doomed lol" genuinely take a look at yourself and remind yourself you're talking about literal children. Especially if you're a Milennial yourself who went through the banality of being shit on by every generation preceeding.
It's so easy to not be a dick, yknow?

This dude spitting facts! Please consider listening to this if you have the time, it's just under 3 mins. :)
(Inb4 all the people who claim this video is 'defending boomers' when there's a big difference between explaining something and justifying the outcomes.)

This is easily the most interesting take I've ever seen discussing why the older generations seem to struggle so much with the discussions and changes with gender identity, and I think it's absolutely worth reading.
Obviously it doesn't cover 100% of intolerant people, but I think it explains a decent chunk tbh.

I think I’ve realised every generation had their own sitcom. Millennials have The Office, gen z has Young Sheldon. I can’t think of what the previous older two have however

So many of the newer House MD fans are shocked by House's casual racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. remarks and microagressions, and all I can think is... did y'all forget that House is literally a Baby Boomer?
I know that you are seeing a 45-year-old man on your screen, but you should not expect Xennial values and behaviors from that man because the show is 20 years old. House was born in 1959. He would be 65 now.
So yeah, next time House shocks you by saying something offensive or making a joke that really didn't age well, just think "okay boomer" and move on. No need to twist yourself up in knots trying to analyze or explain it away -- his generation was just Like That.
