Dick Grayson sets Jon and Damian up, Completely accidentally.
So, years from now, Damian has finished his degree, med school, and is starting his residentancy. Jon is Superman, and his career as a science researcher is in full swing.
Both grew apart after Jon took up his fathers mantel, and Damian left crimefighting to pursue medicine. They are still friends, but nowhere near as close as they once were. ( Jon still listens to Damians' heartbeat every day, and Jon is one of the few people outside his family that Damian puts on the cape for now.)
Dick has been Jon's mentor for years, and he and Damian have only gotten closer as brothers (father and son) over the years. One day, after seeing Damian and Jon meet by chance, when Dick is injured and he makes Jon fly him to Damian to be patched up, Dick decides to get them to be best friends again.
Dick doesn't know why they grew apart, but they still seem fond of each other if the friendly greeting he witnessed is anything to go by. And both of them need more friends, each having been isolated by their responsibilities over the last few years.
So, he hatches a plan.
If they are going to be Best Friends again, they need to spend time together one on one. The few times he hung out with both of them at the same time, Jon and Damian tended to focus on him or a larger group activity.
So, Dick starts asking Jon to drop Damian over food or coffee after long shifts. Tells Superman how worried he is that Damian will overwork himself because he is doing so many extra hours in Peadatrics and the NICU. Jon happily agrees, armed with Damians' favourite vegan meals and a smile. Damian is confused at first but is so tired that he doesn't question why his childhood friend is suddenly feeding him a few times a week.
Next, Dick tells Damian about all the humanitarian work Jon is doing, and wouldn't it be so nice to go with him? The next time he heads off to refugee camp, Damian can come to provide free health care. Damian likes that idea immensely and asks Jon when he next shows up with food.
Jon and Damian start spending more time together, but only during times when they are too busy or exhausted to actually talk to one another. Neither have mentioned anything other than how tired and busy the other seemed.
So Dick enacts stage three and attempts to get them to actually hang out and relax together. Since they both desperately need it. So Dick asks them both to come over for pizza and movies at his place, and then just doesn't show up. Damian is always early and has a key to his apartment so he can let Jon in. The plan is foolproof.
He sends them a text 30 minutes after they were supposed to meet and tells them Barbara needs him for something, but go ahead and order the pizzas he will be there in a few hours.
After about four hours of celebrating his success and annoying Babs. Dick finally goes home to check on the besties.
What he did not expect was to find Jonathan Kent defiling his baby on his couch.
Some of their clothes are off and strewn around the space, and thank God all Dick sees is Jons naked back and Damian kissing him before he runs out of the room.
Only after he calls Babs in horror and she laughs in his face, does he gather the courage to confront them again.
When he enters the house this time, Jon and Damian are waiting for him, thankfully fully dressed.
Dick doesn't get a chance to speak before Damian is apologising for impropriety and looking like he did at ten when he didn't know how Dick was going to react to his mistakes. Jon takes his hand to settle his nerves, and it works.
Dicks feels like he fell down the rabbit hole.
"So, you two are a thing?"
"Yes."
"Since when?"
"Since I saw Damian save 10 children in Sudan a few weeks ago."
"Oh."
"Jon was good with them, comforting and gentle." Damian sounds dreamy in a way Dick has never heard before.
"Is it serious?"
"I love Damian, and I plan to marry him as soon as he will let me." Jon is so confident and serious when he says this, Dick almost doesn't believe the words coming out of his mouth.
"WHAT?!" The pair ignore him choking on his own spit. Rude.
"You do?"
"If you want?"
Damian nods and smiles. "We could go to vegas tomorrow?"
Jon smiles back so wide Dick is sure his face is going to split in two."Or we elope tonight?"
Damian kisses him before whispering yes against his lips
He then turns to his brother.
"Richard will be our witness!"
Dick doesn't know how he ends up in a chapel in Las Vegas at 3am,on a Tuesday, giving his baby brother away. But they look so happy Dick decides he doesn't care at the moment.
Damian had rings already, for some reason, and Jon and Damian get married in jeans and hastily thrown on shirts. All three of them cry at sappy spontaneous vows.
Afterwards, Jon thanks him for helping him realise he already knew the love of his life. Damian just hugs him tightly and says something in a language Dick doesn't know.
It occurred to Dick in that moment that Bruce was going to kill him. Probably after he killed Jon.
He can't even stage a shovel talk because this is all his own damn fault.
Barbara and Stephanie never let him live it down. (But they can suck it, Jon and Damian name their first kid after him and make him godfather.)

Hello! How about arcane charaters reaction to the reader wearing a pretty dress/outfit?
Please and Thank you
Arcane reacting to the reader in a pretty outfit

Jinx:

Whistles, like straight up
She'll stop whatever she's doing to give you all of her attention and I mean all of it
It's funny that you think that your walking away walking
If your a girl or a trans fem? She's got a strap in her workbench drawer ready for the occasion
You wanna top her? She's alright with that go straight ahead
Your male or trans masc? She will ride you until your shaking or give you head whatever you want
Your either passing out or crawling out of her workshop
"Oh! Hi bab- *whistles* well damn your a pretty thing!" Jinx giggled out excitedly,"cmere cmere! I wanna love on you!" Jinx insisted
"Ok ok ok what's up?" You said walking closer.
And then Jinx pulled you closer, whispering in your ear while letting out little laughs "yknow~ you look so pretty, but what if we just take it off?"
Your neck will be marked and hell she might even get you a collar with her name on it, just for a good precaution yknow?
Vi:

You're now not allowed to go anywhere without her
Your gonna go shopping and it's topside? She's got a hoodie on
You have to go to work? She's staying right where she can see you
Your working for silco? She knows how to follow and be undetected
She marks you, not even in a sexual way, she's just possessive
It's either your getting marked and she's going with you
Or your staying home and changing
"Little mouse? Oh, oh my..where do you think you're going?" Vi asked, leaning her side against the doorway
"Huh? Oh, I was gonna go shopping up topside and wanted to look nice. Why? Do I not look good?" You asked paranoid
"No, you just look a little too good, little mouse." Vi moved closer
Yea, on the other hand, if she decides you look too good, she'll just take it off herself
Silco:

He doesn't care
Like genuinely
He always has someone watching over you to make sure your safe
You insist you can take care of yourself? He'll agree with you(and send sevika after you)
He's borderline asexual and doesn't particularly feel the need to make sure your marked by him or anything
He knows he's feared in the underground, so there's nothing to worry about
You knocked on silco's door carefully hearing a muffled "come in" from behind it
Silco took a moment to glance up from his papers when he heard you walk through the door. "Ah good morning, my dear. I hope you slept well," silco said, setting his pen down
You nodded "yea I was gonna go out, so I was just letting you know "
Silco nodded. "ok dear, have a good time." Silco waited five minutes after you left to call sevika into his office. "Follow them," he ordered sevika
And this is the routine every time
Ekko:

You think your leaving your shared room like that? Hahaha no.
He will lock you in your bedroom till you change or will change you himself
After the day is done he'll insist you put it back on so he can admire you properly
Intimate moments were rather rare due to him running the firelights
So he definitely took advange of this
Those clothes aren't lasting through the night and neither is the grease paint on his face
"Morning firefl- no. Get back in that room now. " Ekko cut himself off, setting his coffee cup down on the counter and pushing you into the room gently
"Ekko nooo! Cmon, I look adorable!" You insisted
"Yea I know and I don't wanna have to deal with certain problems of my own and keep people from looking at you in the way only I'm allowed to, so change" Ekko finished before locking you in the bedroom and standing there until you were done
He loves you so much if you can't tell

Bury Him with the Roses Pt. 1
Masterlist
Summary: Damian learns that his twin is alive only to learn that he was dead and buried a few hours before his impromptu arrival to the Fenton household. When he goes to visit Danyal's final resting place he finds two individuals digging up his brother's grave. Word Count: 1302
Damian will say time and time again that school is a waste of his time. Which is why he'll never admit that he enjoys projects that allow him to truly deep dive on subjects he wouldn't normally have any reason to.
This specific school project has him doing research about animals that were once thought to be doomed for extinction only for their numbers to rise once more. Which is how Damian found himself looking at the face of a familiar looking boy that disappeared so many years ago; his twin.
Apparently, his brother saved the purple-back gorillas from going extinct a year after his disappearance from the League. Instead of reading further into the article, and wondering how so many professionals were able to miss something so critical to an animal's survival, he's stuck on the photo of Danyal smiling at the camera.
It feels as if he was staring at that face for hours when a knock on his bedroom door breaks his concentration.
"Master Damian, dinner will be served in a few moments if you wish to join us downstairs." Alfred calls out from behind the door.
"Thank you Pennyworth, I'll be down soon." He replies as calmly as he can, and it isn't until he hears footsteps heading away from his door does he feel like he can breathe again.
Before this Damian was fine with keeping the secret of Danyal close to his chest. He knows how this family deals with death, and he didn't want to put them through any more grief for a child they would never meet.
So how is he meant to reveal something so frightening. How are they going to react to this kind of betrayal; keeping a brother and son from them all because he didn't think they could handle it.
These thoughts are like a whirlwind as Damian slowly makes his way to the dining room. Upon entering he finds that everyone else is already seated. Which is when he remembers that this is one of those rare dinners where even Jason has agreed to attend.
Silently, he takes a seat with Bruce on his right, and Dick on his left. Damian would have been glad to just sail through the meal without saying anything, but of course Dick had to notice his voice missing from the choir.
"Baby bat, is everything all good? I don't think I've heard a single quip out of you tonight." Damian can tell he's trying to be casual with his question, but his concern is not hard to miss.
This was his moment to just confess everything wasn't it? He takes a calming breath and clears his throat before speaking. "Actually Richard, there is an announcement I must make. Something that I have kept to myself for far too long."
It's clear that everyone heard him as the table goes quiet, and all eyes look toward him. "I have a- a twin brother."
There. There it is. Finally out in the open.
That doesn't calm his heart thundering in his chest though as voices explode all around him with questions and demands. His father's though is the one that he pays any attention to.
"What is his name?" With the look on Bruce's face Damian wonders if stabbing him would have been kinder than doing this.
"His name is Danyal al Ghul, though I've recently discovered that he goes by the name Daniel Fenton now."
With the mention of a name Damian sees both Tim and Babs pulling out their phones to seemingly try, and find any information that can on his brother.
"Wait! A twin? Why didn't he come to Gotham with you then?" Duke, who is sitting across from him, questions.
"As of an hour or so ago I believed him to be dead." He feels Dick put a comforting hand on his shoulder, "He- he went on a mission with Mother, and never returned. I was told to forget all about him; that he was nothing but a weakness that would hold me back."
"Dami, I'm-" Dink starts to say something, but is interrupted by Bruce speaking up.
"You said you found out he was alive today, how? Are you sure it is him." Damian recognizes that tone, it's not his Father speaking anymore, it's Batman.
"Bruce." Dink's voice has a warning tone to it as he clearly doesn't like the way he's speaking to him. If anything though Damian prefers it right now. It allows him to think of this conversation more as a mission report than a personal one.
"I was doing research for school, and I came across an article about purple-back gorillas. It featured his name as well as a photo of Danyal due to his impact on the species."
"And you're positive it is not someone who just looks like him?"
"I gave Danyal a scar on his jaw before he left with Mother. The same scar can be seen in the photo."
"Found it." Tim announces, "And a scar is on the kid's jaw."
Jason, who is now leaning halfway out of his seat to look at Tim's phone, gives a whistle as he gets a look at the photo. "Yup, that is definitely your kid B. Looks just like the demon brat too minus the eyes of course.”
Without a word Bruce holds out a hand for the phone, and silently Tim passes it down to him. Everyone can tell he’s trying to keep his emotions to himself, but when he takes a look at the photo it’s clear something inside him is breaking. Knowing that he didn’t just miss the youth of not just one son, but two.
Slowly he slides the phone back to Tim before focusing on Babs, "Have you found any other information about him?"
"I'll have to do a more in depth search once I get my hands on an actual computer. The article is so far the only thing I've been able to find so far." Her face in a frown as she continues to search for more.
"Could the kid just not have any socials, and that's why nothing is popping up?" Stephanie questions.
"I would normally assume so if it weren't for the fact that I can barely find anything about his hometown that was listed in the article."
"Hm." Bruce's face is set in a deep frown as he stands up, "Let's continue this in the cave. I want a full report on every single thing found about Danyal, and who he's currently living with."
Practically everyone at those words rushed down to the cave, Damian on the other hand stayed seated. His eyes closed, and head slightly bowed. He couldn't help but wonder if he had done the right thing revealing Danyal's existence to everyone.
His twin must know that he is in Gotham after all. Why hasn't he reached out?
Despite the table now being empty Damian knows that he is not alone; behind him is a looming presence.
“Damian, sweetheart.” Bruce lays a gentle hand on his shoulder, his mask now completely gone as every emotion runs through his voice. “I wish you would have told me about your brother sooner. I’m sure you have your reasons though, and will want to hear them later. For now though I’m just going to ask if you’re alright.”
He didn’t know how to answer that question so instead he just stands up, and says, “I’ll be better once I see Danyal again. I assume you’ll be going to him once we have his location.”
“... Yes, I will be.”
“Then I will be joining you, and you can not stop me from doing so.” With that said Damian turns and strides towards the cave. A new goal now set in his mind.
Bring Danyal home.

[141 + Konig] Surprise! I'm Naked
Masterlist
Synopsis: You've been watching videos all day when you come across a genre of people surprising their S/O in lingerie at unexpected moments. You decide to give it a try.
John MacTavish
You decide to surprise John when he comes in from grabbing a meal with his work buddies. You're laying out on the couch, watching a TV show and nibbling on a snack or two.
This man slams the door shut, blue eyes turning a shade darker when his eyes land on you. "Got some new clothes?"
You laugh at the joke and he's joining you on the couch, pushing one of your legs off while he tosses his own clothes off
Simon Riley
There's nothing more he loves than seeing you lounging around his place, totally relaxed. When he finds you on his bed, a flimsy, cheap lacy ensemble, his mouth runs dry.
He chooses to wait to touch you, giving you a little show as he peels off his clothing. His hand smooths over his Adonis belt, gripping his cock. "Little minx, you see what you've done?"
You swoon as he climbs over you, testing the strength of the material - he's happy that he was right about it being filmsy. Knows you like when his biceps flex when he tears it in one go, fucking you with the tattered remains hanging off your body.
John Price
John is stepping out of the shower when he sees you on his side of the bed. You aren't naked - not completely. You've got those stockings he loves on and his hat. He chuckles, swaggering over to you with his smile.
"What's this, doll?" He asks, tilting your chin up with a finger. You smile just as big as his, spreading your legs open. He drops his towel, grabbing your thighs.
He doesn't mind getting on his knees to lap at his favorite meal as long as you keep his hat on while he does it. The minute it falls off, he's going to show you how good of a day he had.
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick
You've thought and thought about how to surprise Kyle - when he's home, he's always loving on you. It's hard to sneak away until finally another trend catches your eye - naked yoga. You've never done yoga a day in your life but that would surprise him.
You buy a yoga mat, set an alarm to a few minutes before he's about to get home and turn on a random yoga video on YouTube. You hardly notice him come in until the door slams shut.
Kyle comes up behind you as you're sitting with your legs together in front of you, gripping the back of your knees. You pretend you're focused. He surprises you, pushing gently on your back, "Babs, you can do better than that."
He's helping you get a little further than you're actually attempting. The routine shifts into a standing. One leg is in front of you while the other is behind, stretched out as you feel your thigh muscles straining. He's right there again, hip pushing you to move to a deeper stretch. "Gotta get you limber for everything I'm going to do to you when you're done."
König
You've never slept with König which is exactly why you want to try surprising him with your nude so maybe the big lug will get it. You're wearing a trenchcoat as you show up to his home. He eyes it but doesn't say anything.
You step in and follow him to the living, getting nervous. The couch creaks as he sits down, expecting you to join him for the movie he lined up. You stand in front of him, ripping the proverbial bandaid off and dropping the trench coat.
You can tell he doesn't know where to look - how to react until he's leaning forward with admiration in his eyes. "This is all for me, Sonnenschein? For me?" You laugh at his reaction and he drags you down into his lap, sucking on your breast immediately.
You gasp, grabbing hold of his hair to tug on it. "Thank you. Thank you so much. This is all for me.." He groans, bullying his fat cock into you as he continues to thank you.

Warning: Dark, Suicidal Tim, etc. Also small spoilers for the Injustice movie
Had a random thought, slightly inspired by the Injustice movie: what if Tim, in a mental health slump, decided to teach the bats a final lesson? Every time he defends himself against Damian’s attacks, he’s criticized for it. So one day, he just doesn’t.
Damian gets angry and decides to take it out on the person he won’t be criticized for attacking. After Tim doesn’t respond to his taunts, he gets physical, and throws a knife or slashes his sword, expecting Tim to get out of the out of the way or block the blow, and Tim doesn’t. The sound of a blade parting flesh and a body falling to the ground gets the other bats attention, and they turn to see Damian standing there with blood on his blade and Tim’s body on the ground.
(Inspired by the scene in the Injustice movie where Damian kills Dick by throwing a baton (escrima stick? IDK) at him, expecting him to catch it (which, earlier in the movie, he did), and Dick, being distracted, doesn’t, and it hits him directly on the temple. Accident, sure, but caused by recklessness)
Basically Damian needs to learn that attacking other people because you are angry is NOT OKAY. Seriously, if youre pissed, go beat up a training dummy or scream into a pillow.
Does Damian learn the lesson? Or not? What about B and Dick and the others? How do they react?
[Thank you for the TWs! WARNING: This is bad batfam. I love them, but we're chucking them under the angst crack bus for this]
Tw: Dark/Suicidal Tim, domestic abuse, psychological warfare, manipulation, mentions of suicide attempt
Tim is tired of constantly fighting back and defending himself. He's tired of Damian and Jason attacking him. He's tired of Dick and Bruce pushing his boundaries.
If Tim just allows Damian to stab him, *he'll* be the one to get lectured for not dodging. It will become Tim's fault, as a trained vigilante, for not preventing himself from being injured.
What does he decide to do?
Resist with extreme psychological warfare no matter the damage to himself.
He starts small.
He curates cases/stories of sibling abuse and starts to leave them in places Dick will find (hacking/messing with Dick's fyp, newspapers around the Manor, files on the batcomputer, a case Babs is informed about, etc). They aren't reflective of Tim's experiences, not yet, but they show common patterns: adult figures not stepping in, siblings being pushed to compete, escalation, negative behaviors transferring to people/things outside of the siblings, etc.
For Bruce, Tim tricks the man into reading an intimate relationships psychology textbook by stating it was necessary for a case. He then keeps tricking the man into reading gentle parenting, boundaries, and other such information.
Jason is much easier. Tim just leaves books of various siblings relationships within the man's safehouses (healthy ones, distant, cruel, enemies, abusive, recent siblings [like adoption], etc). Jason doesn't know Tim is the one leaving those books, but he is intrigued by the "recommendations." A lot of them have other lessons Tim has prepared mixed in as well [which, if Jason finds out Tim is the one who recommended the books after he starts getting along with him, then they can have book clubs ^^].
Tim sends a ton of empathy animal related movies/shows Dick's way so that the older one ropes Damian into watching them.
This takes months, but at no point does Tim relate the lessons to Tim himself yet.
He then starts pouring in warnings. When Damian tries to hurt him again, Tim asks Dick, "What if I was too tired to dodge it?" This is the only time he asks. Dick waves it off cause Damian "knows better" now. I
Tim almost gave up the game right there and then to prove a point. He held back, though.
For Jason, Tim throws in shock-value trauma dump phrases when they meet up to prevent the older one from attacking.
Jason: *pulls out a gun*
Tim: "Damn. You'd think after threatening to kill myself to prevent my future from occurring that I'd be okay with guns. For some reason, they still make me nauseous."
Jason: *holsters gun* "What the fuck?"
Tim: *nods and then disappears*
It kind of trains Jason from attacking Tim unless he wants to hear really fucked up shit that will have his mind spiraling for days.
For Bruce, Tim just points out how and when the man crosses other people's boundaries (but doesn't point out Tim's). He doesn't put any expectation or remedy out. He just indicates it to start Bruce's thought process of "Did I just cross someone's boundary?"
Then Tim feels that it's ready. He won't get blamed for not dodging Damian's attack.
So, he lets himself be seriously stabbed.
This cues Damian into having a mental breakdown. Dick and Bruce oscillate between blaming everyone else and then themselves. Jason, after seeing the shitshow of these reactions, assigns himself (without telling the others) to suicide watch Tim [those trauma dump phrases are working against Tim here].
Once Tim awakens and realizes the mess he's created, he fucking regrets it all. He doesn't want to have to clean it all up and manipulate them into being better. He's also kind of pissed at Damian for not aiming for his heart or something. Damn.

Widows rest
My take on a Black widow! Reader x Batman and Batfam but with a slight twist, reader doesn't know the Bats but they seem to know them...
Warning: contains avengers infinity war spoilers, black widow spoilers, mentions of violence, mentions of being drugged, mentions of death, hospitals, poor writing, possible ooc,
Part 6: dreamcatchers…
“straighten up luv, don’t slouch in the photos.” you murmur gently as you lean over to tuck a loose strand of tim’s hair back into it’s neatly styled look, a practiced smile on your face as bright shutters flash around you.
“wha-dukes on his phone right now! tell him to look good in the pictures…” tim grumbles quietly as he straightens up beside you and puts his hands in his suit pockets, cringing slightly when his back audibly creaked from the movements.
“duke only agreed to attending and a few group photos, besides he’s not the newly announced board member on wayne enterprises. the cameras are gonna be glued to you all night luv.” you pointed out gently as you reached over to gently tug on damian’s arm and pull him closer for a few more photos, he does a good job of not reacting despite the fact that tim and damian were bickering in the car on the way over, he just crosses his arms behind his back and tilts his head back like a proud cat posing.
the paparazzi were loud tonight, shouting questions at everyone that walks by and shoving cameras in peoples faces while trying to follow after them. the security guards are having a field day tonight, you’ll need to remember to give them all extra tips. duke and jason both wander over when bruce gestures for them, duke shoving his phone in his back pocket and jason crosses his arms over his chest and subtly leans into your side.
“either of you seen richard and cass? please tell me they’re not in another interview.”
“cass is at the macarons table” jason grunts out, glaring half-heartedly when duke starts trying to subtly shoulder check him once they’re side by side.
bruce clears his throat to try to put a stop to their playfighting before it escalates, smiling and wrapping an arm around your shoulder as the cameras continue flashing, his thumb gently rubbing circles on your upper arm.
duke leans over. “think i saw dick talking to babs near the minibar.” duke whispers while now trying to step on the back of tim’s shoe, snickering when tim tries to elbow him in the gut.
“knock it off.” bruce mumbles, tired already. the boys all relent and eventually go on their way once enough pictures have been taken in front of the name wall.
“I'll go find Cassie, meet me up by the stage?” You murmur in Bruce's ear, not waiting for a reply as you saunter off.
🔹🔹🔹
damian sticks close to you as you approach the snack bar, grumbling quietly under his breath about how unprofessional everyone else is. you think it’s cute how he treats galas like a personal mission.
“-i’m just saying! they don’t take things as seriously as we do, our public image is in jeopardy every time we put them together, especially Tim and jason.”
you suppress a smile as you look for cass’s figure in the crowd, smoothly grabbing a sample plate and putting a few vegan friendly options on it. “they’re trying to make the best of a situation they don’t care for, luv. as long as no one starts backflipping off tables they’re fine.” you hand him the plate as you spot cass, already approaching you with a passive look on her face.
“hello, my shoes are uncomfortable.” she's straight to the point as always, standing ramrod straight in the kitten pumps in what you can guess is an attempt to not look awkward.
“Hello back, do you wanna go change them?” You gesture her closer as you start walking away from the tables.
“I told you they're impractical footwear.” Damian grumbles as he pokes at the zucchini bars you handed him, still following you like a shadow.
“I'm not walking barefoot, don't trust the floor's are clean.” Cass ignores Damian's comment, she wanted to try the heels and now she's done with them.
You smile amusedly as you start leading her towards the restrooms, “i have a pair of your flats, Cassie. Change into those and I'll hold your shoes, okay?” You start fishing for the rolled up pair out of one of your many pockets, handing the ballet flats to her and ushering her in.
She just nods and takes the shoes, disappearing into the bathrooms while you turn around to converse with Damian.
“Now then, once she's back let's -” you pause when you realize you don't see Damian anywhere, that was literally just a few seconds where did he go?
You twist around and glance behind and beside you, he's disappeared and…when did it get so quiet? Suddenly you hear a voice from the front of the room, grating and loud, slightly tinny, a recording?
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of Gothams finest. You've all been selected for a very special trial tonight, you get to take part in valuable research...”
You'd recognize a monologue anywhere, you quickly start moving towards the voice, who is it tonight? The riddler? Your heart is already racing even though you try not to rush, not wanting to stand out. The guests murmur loudly around you, some already starting to dart towards an exit. The voice continues.
“.. Your participation is…unfortunately mandatory…in the study of fear.”
Your blood runs cold as you realize who exactly it is, you quickly grab a handkerchief out of one of your pockets and hold it over your mouth and nose, it's better than absolutely nothing you figure. you pause and consider going back to the bathroom, checking on Cass. But the need to find Damian is just a touch stronger, a gas can goes off across the room which causes a few people to scream and scramble away from it, shit. Where's your family?
You hear a scuffle behind an ice sculpture to your left which gets you to glance over for a second, Damian was being grabbed from behind by two guys in gas masks while he half-heartedly struggles. Your whole body freezes at the sight, is he pretending or has he been gassed? You hear more shrieks across the room as chaos sets in. You can't look away from Damian though, fuck what to do!?
You watch one of the guests slam their shoulder into another guest and try to smash a bottle over their head while shouting, the gas is taking affect already. You need to do something.
Without thinking you shove into the ice sculpture as hard as you can, sending the nude angelic lady toppling to the floor near the two men in gas masks and Damian. As soon as they look over you throw a food tray at one of them and start to go onto one of your other pockets, you curse as you realize pepper spray won't work on gas masks.
You panic and grab a cheese knife off the table instead, the two men start to approach you as Damian shouts something and starts to aggressively struggle, kicking one of them in the groin and trying to twist out of the other man's hold. The kicked man pulls out a canister and it drives you into such a panic that you rush over and drive the cheese knife into his shoulder and try to wrestle the can away from him, he shouts something muffled and it drops to the floor.
You kick it away from the first man and try to tackle the one still holding Damian, the elbow you get to the face makes you drop the handkerchief but you keep hitting at him after a brief stumble. Finally he releases Damian, he proceeds to grab both your shoulders and drive a hard knee into your gut. As soon as you double over you see movement out of the corner of your eye, the first man behind you swinging something at your head…
…You hear Damian's voice somewhere nearby…
…Loud thudding near you, when did you wind up on the floor?….
….What's that green stuff? It smells strange….
…..
…
🔹🔹🔹
You wake up with a loud grunt, your heart monitor beeping wildly beside your hospital bed Your eyes darting around frantically for some threat.
What the fuck was that? You're dreaming about this place now? You're sweating, You gasp quietly for air and slowly pull your legs up to your chest as you try to regulate yourself. The darkness of the room giving you a slight sense of privacy as you try to gather your bearings.
“You're not insane. you're not insane. You're not insane.” You mumble to yourself like a mantra, that reminded you of one of Wanda's visions. It felt so realistic too…
You really wish you had access to alcohol right now.

Here, I'll feed y'all a little with a "What If scenario" I've been playing with for my J.J. AU fic.
Context: Tim finds out that there's a new Robin, not just Batman's biological son, but that Dick himself handed Robin to Damian. Now, he has no clue who this kid is, but Jason's even defensive of him, insists he's a good kid and that they can't control what the Bats do. He says to leave Damian alone, so Tim does, and instead confronts Dick...
(Fun fact: There was originally an idea where the Titans Tower incident still happens where Tim, after dawning the Spoiler name as a mantle following Stephanie's break to be pregnant and all that jazz so he could troll the Bats. Anyways, Tim was meant to attack Damian at the tower! :D)
The rain made his hair all frizzy, the warmth that burnt in his core clashed terribly with the summer night of Gotham where droplets of rain splashed audibly at a steady rhythm to match the beat of the earth that synchronized beside the thumping of Tim's heart as he stood supposedly solo against the dark cover of night. He wasn't naïve, neither was Dick, they were both aware of the others presence, it was simply a dare to the other, who'd reveal themself first?
Tim, apparently, because he had no patience and his fingers were fidgety and he'd left his flamethrower at the apartment.
Tim: You took Robin from me.
It was said numbly, for some odd reason that's all Tim had in him as far as tones and volumes went, at first. At first it was hurting and ached then rose to accusations as he flips out his shaky red pistol to fiddle with the trigger— It was empty, Jason didn't let him have bullets unsupervised anymore—
Tim: YOU ABANDONED ME! AND TOOK IT! FROM ME! I was... I was a good Robin, I was a great Robin, you said so! Why replace me!? I was good, you said I was good!
His voice was wobbly, free hand now burying into his hair to yank at his scalp till tears stung at the corners of his vision, the action finally drawing out Dick, Nightwing more specifically, looming and tall with pain in his own expression as if he hadn't caused Tim all of his in this very moment! He practises the breaths Leslie taught him, not Bruce's because Bruce's made it worse so he practiced the ones Leslie taught him that Jason's helped him perfect, because Dick didn't! He didn't...
Dick: T... Tim—
He always stuttered, like he was naming someone that died, like he wasn't Tim, but he says it with so much hurt, self loathing, like he blamed himself for everything and knowing Dick he probably did. Does.
Dick: I know it doesn't make sense, that— that you're not Robin anymore—
Tim: I killed the Joker! I broke the rule and the vow! I know why I'm not Robin, Dick! I'm crazy now, not a child! Can't exactly be a child in Arkham...
Dick: . . . I'm sorry, Tim.
Tim: If I have to hear you or Batman or Babs say that one more time—
He tries to keep the laughter under control, twirling the gun around once just to see Dick's eyes widen and his hands twitch and feed shift like his instincts screamed to move — dodge— but refused to let himself react in such a way. Tim knew why, his brain screaming Joker, heart screaming "It's Tim!" And he himself knew the feeling, he'd looked in a mirror recently...
—
Anyways, hope you enjoyed that snippet! :D I am working on the AU, it just takes time because of other obligations, life stuff, and hobbies, and all that mess 🙏🙏🙏

what would be the reaction of each one of the bats to peter hugging them out of the blue ?
i actually have an entire page in my notebook dedicated to keeping track of this (mostly it was a prompt to get in the writing mood but now it's a reference)
Dick: obviously met with joy and an immediate hug back, they will not be letting go until 30 minutes later. he is crying but trying not to let Peter tell that he is. yes he does this nearly every time
Bruce: i think he would cry. Bruce doesn't cry often (in front of people at least) but if this happened he would get all teary eyed. mostly because he's thinking back to when Dick was that age and he would hug Bruce + he knows it's a big sign of trust if Peter is hugging you. he'd also hug Peter back but it'd take him a second to figure out what's going on
Jason: freezes for long enough that Peter pulls away and says 'sorry.' this happens a few times before Jason is used to it and he hugs Peter back. he also now has to make up for how he reacted before so Peter's the only one allowed to hug him for more than five seconds (I hc that Jay isn't great with physical affection like he was Before but he does like physical affection.)
Tim: he's used to Dick's random hugs so while he wasn't expecting it the first time and he took a second, he gets the hang of this very fast and he hugs Peter back every time
Steph: absolutely overjoyed. she'll be confused but she's the one who hugs him back and swings him around. she will continue to be happy for the rest of the day. she's more used to Peter hugs (1. because of Dick, just like Tim but also 2. because Peter isn't as hesitant around her).
Duke: confusion, awkward hug with a pat on the back the first few times. the more hugs he gets, the more comfortable he is with it. the first hug = "If anything happens to this kid I will end the world as we know it." and by the fourth surprise hug Duke has learned to hug Peter first
Cass: she's not surprised at all. she knew it would be coming and by the time Peter figures out he wants to hug her, she's opened her arms. i think Cass would love gentle hugs for herself, but often knows what type of hugs other people need/like best. like sometimes you just need a hug that crushes you a little bit and other times you just want someone there. Cass has it figured out
Dami: SWEARS that Peter is being so weird and so awful but the longer he's away from the League and the more he hangs out with his family the more he understands that he likes physical affection. He hugs Peter back but it's hesitant the first few times. Later on, though, Dami accepts and gives hugs. and if Dami is sitting on the couch Peter will flop onto the couch with his entire body weight. Dami promises to kill him every time but never goes through with it. they'll chill there for a little bit. classic sibling bothering.
Babs: has been used to hugs from Dick for a while, but she's surprised to realize that Peter trusts her that much. that's also when she realizes how much she cares about him and, like Duke, decides that if anything happened to Peter, she'd make someone rue the day
Alfred: just like with all of his grandchildren, Alfie doesn't initiate the hug first. but they know that if they want a hug, Alfie's there for them.
#we've had three surprise hugs so far:#alfred pennyworth#damian wayne#and#dick grayson#it's funny that this is asked now because peter gives dick another surprise hug in chapter 14#i have to collect all the surprise hugs#i also can't wait to write peter interacting with the girls more#bruce wayne#cassandra wayne#cassandra cain#stephanie brown#steph brown#jason todd#babs gordon#duke thomas#tim wayne#tim drake#erinwantstowrite#leap of faith#leap of faith ao3#leap of faith (catch me if you can)#leap of faith catch me if you can

Hi there! I just read battle for the cowl (i hadn't managed to finish it last time because I was so angry but this time i did manage! Yay! Someone save me.) I'm very sorry to bother you, but you are the Cass Cain reference and I find myself in need of your insight if that's alright with you.
Anyway my actual question is, what would be Cass' greatest struggle wrt Bruce's death/taking the cowl after Bruce's death? Like how do you think the grief would manifest, what would be the biggest conflict?
Hi!!! First off congrats for finishing Battle for the Cowl, everyone who gets through it deserves a medal. Secondly it makes me happy to hear I'm your Cass reference because there are so many amazing and knowledgable Cass blogs on here <333.
Anyway your question is SO interesting because. AGH. Cass deserved to be in BftC so bad!!! Okay in a world where Cass became Batman, I'm going to pretend she doesn't set up Batman, Inc. I'm also assuming in this world Steph still takes up Batgirl/Cass still gives it to her.
There are many considerations for how Cass would react, and this is a jumble of thoughts (other Cass fans might have better answers than me tbh). But here are some factors:
Besides her lame non-reaction in Reborn era, we do have some hints on how Cass would react to Bruce's death in Batgirl (2000) #15. When Cass gets hit by a beam that makes the brain come up with a scenario to kill, Cass imagines the Joker killing Bruce and her killing the Joker. This 'killing' reaction is due to the beam, but it's significant that Bruce dying was her justification. Her brain had to come up with a reason to break her most sacred vow, and Bruce's death was what it found. His death broke a fundamental part of her. Ofc this was very early on in their relationship, but I think Bruce's death would take a toll on her sense of internal 'goodness' (which was always shaky to begin with)
Bruce adopts Cass in 2008, basically right before he dies. His adoption words to her: "You'll always have a real family... as long as I'm around". Just. AHHHH. Although Bruce didn't intend this, this is phrased as a conditional: Cass' 'real family' depends on Bruce's presence. For Bruce to die immediately after this would severely impact Cass' sense of belonging to the family.
We know from Bruce Wayne: The Road Home: Batgirl that Bruce had ordered Cass to give the Batgirl mantle to Steph (in the case of his disappearance/death). We don't know how he said this - it may have been an order before his death, or a 'last message'-type deal like with Dick/Jason. Regardless, this would impact Cass' belief that she deserves the Bat mantle. We know from what actually happens that Cass gives up the symbol after Bruce's death. In a scenario where she takes the cowl, I think this seed of doubt would wriggle at her. What did Bruce mean when he told her to give up Batgirl? Was it because he wanted her to become Batman, or because he wanted to strip her of the symbol entirely?
If Cass takes up the cowl I'm assuming Dick doesn't? Or he's a simultaneous Batman? Either way, Cass + Dick would be very interesting in this era, not least because they're coming off the backs of their fight in Batgirl (2008) + reconciliation in Batman & The Outsiders (2007). That reconciliation addresses Bruce's absence: Dick says, "I suppose we need to work together to fill the void he left." So Dick-Cass would be this tense and grieving relationship that's filled with a strange solidarity. On the other hand, I think Babs would not want Cass to be the Bat, so this might drive a wedge between them (and I think Cass, in her grieving state, would likely evade or lash out if Babs shows any concern). So Cass' relationships to Dick and Babs would change.
Cass' relationship to Tim would also be changed by Tim's Brucequest, and honestly it would probably fracture because both of them are not in the best state of mind. Cass' relationship to Steph would also be tense, in my opinion Cass would shut her out for a variety of reasons (not least because of the aforementioned 'give Batgirl to Steph' order). So Cass' relationship to Steph and Tim would most likely worsen.
A final consideration is that, when Stephanie died, Cass left Gotham for Bludhaven. Steph's death changed her entire relationship to Gotham, leading her to say (in her internal monologue) that Blud was the first place to ever be hers. Both Steph and Bruce are Gothamites through and through, so I think Bruce's death would also change Cass' relationship to Gotham City.
Okay I am so sorry for that essay because you were only asking for the biggest conflict 😭. I think all of the above build up into her biggest conflict being whether or not she belongs here/whether or not she's doing the right thing. Don't get me wrong, she knows she can make a great Bat and she knows Gotham needs a Batman. But with Bruce dead, with her grounding relationships to Steph and Babs under heavy strain, with Tim steadfastly believing Bruce is not dead, with her relationship to Gotham in shambles, with the adoption in the air, and with Dick (who's been Batman before) hanging around and probably clashing with her sometimes, her self-belief would probably be more fragile than it's ever been. I'm thinking end of BG 2000 levels of 'do I even deserve to the Bat symbol'.
I'm also thinking of Gates of Gotham, where Cass and Dick talk in the car and Cass says it's a choice to stay in Gotham, whether or not the city wants you. I think, if Cass was Batman, this would have to be a choice she makes everyday - with everything she's ever known in jeopardy or flat-out gone, she'd have to choose to go out there, choose to assert herself as the Bat. And despite it all I think she would do it. She never loses, after all.
(I didn't mention Damian but for a non-serious answer if he was her Robin he would be the biggest pain in her neck and she would punt him off several roofs).
#cassandra cain#ask#batman#bruce wayne#i'm sorry this is like dissertation length😭 turns out i have a LOT of thoughts on how this would go#everyday i rue battle for the cowl#seriously what was anyone thinking#oh i forgot jason. OMG wait that one winick issue in b&r but with cass 😭😭😭 that would be so good actually#not morrison jason to be clear i think cass would just throw him in jail she would not have patience for jason's games#hm actually i don't have any ideas/thoughts about jason. wonder if anyone else has any?#anyway i loooved this ask so much so no need to apologise!! gave me an excuse to dump all my stray thoughts about cassbats#meta

Her deaths being unknown to everyone makes me so sad but her first one especially because she just doesn’t care to think twice about having died of course she wouldn’t divulge to anyone else
RIGHT like in canon Babs is aware of her first death and tells Steph who reacts with appropriate wtf ness. My theory is that when Cass came back from her fight with Shiva she gave the most detached mission report she could, which Babs later listened to in horror. Babs then makes the decision not to tell Bruce the full story, because he's been doing a shit job at parenting recently and is at the point of his spiral where he's only going to get worse. So as far as the others are aware, Cass fought Shiva and won. That's all they need to know.
Her second death she wouldn't even tell Babs about. Not because of the death, but because of the shame she feels at what came directly after. Shiva can joke about that part, Cass feels like she deserves the brand of killer whenever her mother chooses to mention it. But no one can find out about the death that happened right before it. They can't see her as a victim, not when she ended that day by killing her mother. She fought Shiva and won. Again. That's all they need to know.
Sometimes I wonder if she gets tempted to talk with Steph and Damian and even Jason about their experiences in the afterlife. Because from what she gleaned it was different for each of them, and she wonders how it would compare to hers, if she could figure out the pattern of what certain people experience.
(Why Damian got trapped in hell at one point and she felt peace every time she died. That's not fair. No one should be in hell but if someone is, then Cass should be burning right alongside with them. How could the universe get that key fact so wrong?)
Bruce talking to her one night, when he's very tired and the painkillers are getting to him after a rough and fruitless fight, about all the ways he failed the children he was responsible for. Jason's death, Steph's death, Damian's death. None of them deserved it, and he knows he can never make up for the failures. He was supposed to protect them.
Cass listens and nods along and never once thinks to bring up her own deaths. She wasn't a child, stopped being one at the age of eight. It wasn't his responsibility, Bruce is supposed to protect the kids but Cass is supposed to protect everyone. It's not even about sparing him the additional guilt, she simply doesn't think he has anything to be guilty for and it doesn't cross her mind that he would think differently. He knows Cass isn't like the others, knows she's trying to be good instead of born with it. It's just different. Her deaths don't matter, not like the actual children.

how would dick react to seeing Jason broken after what happened to journalist reader ?
oh mannnnn
so this is a very fanon interpretation of them, bcz depending on the run their relationship is always done very differently. but im thinking abt after jason’s arkham knight arc when he's not quite a villain but not really a vigilante either & dick still sees him as his younger brother responsibility despite his violent tendancies. he's always trying to bring jason back home, but jason of course always pushes him away because he doesn't feel like he's the version of himself that dick is chasing, and he just doesnt see the batfam as his family. so dick is alway trying to reconnect and jason just refuses to engage.
and then dick starts noticing some changes. nothing too extreme: a new stack of books and other knickknacks in his apartment (by stalking outside his window—ykw damn well jason is never inviting him over lol), maybe jason hovers over one part of gotham more often on his patrols, and of course the gazette is writing more and more positive stories about red hood. dick would not be a wayne prodigy if he didn't do his research, and he sees that one particular journalist is writing all these stories about red hood. he makes the mistake of teasing jason, and the man almost bites his head off.
(because jason thinks you're too good of a person to ever “share” with his family. he doesnt want you to know about that ugly part of his life)
but other than the obvious blowout, dick notices that jason is happy. really happy. and if this journalist is the source of that, then he'll back off if it means jason gets to be happy again. if dick can't be there for jason, maybe you'll be the one to bring him back. he hasn't even spoken to you, and he's already planning to invite you to the manor for thanksgiving and christmas and new years and
and then babs calls him, and dick loses his brother all over again
(the fic in question)
#sorry idk if this is anything i always over think my batfam stuff bcz the comics are always doing something different jsjsjsk#not to be corny but a part of jason died with you in that alley#as soon as babs calls dick knowsss he just knows that he's never gonna see jason again#at least not the jason he knew#ahhhhh#red hood x reader#jason todd x reader#inbox

What Makes a Family? Pt27
Beginning Previous Next
Marinette walked down the stairs to find Cass scowling at Bruce and signing rapidly. Selina was whispering with her Maman, who looked far too amused, so Cass had to be laying into him pretty hard. Damian was looking on in confusion, but the other boys were nodding along with whatever her twin was saying. She really needed to have Cass teach her to sign. Chloe appeared next to her.
"I'm actually learning new terms. You sister is extremely creative with swearing." Of course, that would be what impressed Chloe. Mari had to wonder how much of it was just not knowing common terms, so she made up her own.
"I don't want to mess up her relationship with him." Chloe scoffed.
"Given the way the others are reacting, this isn't the first, or worst, of his overstepping. I'm thinking this is a long overdue rant."
"You did what when I was with Babs?" Dick's indignant shout startled most of the room. "Yeah, I'm never bringing anyone home ever again. Not unless I've been married for two years." Mari sent Chloe a questioning glance.
"Trust me, you don't want to know." Yeah, if Chloe was saying that... she really didn't want to know.
"You've never known when to butt out, old man. The difference this time is that you don't have any right to butt in in the first place." Jason's tone was downright hostile.
"She's my daughter."
"A biological connection doesn't mean you own me. I'll be eighteen in three months anyway and I'm completely financially independent, so if you want any type of relationship with me, it's going to be on my terms, Mr. Wayne. Those terms will include not interfering in my relationships with others, romantic or otherwise, and not telling me how I'm allowed to live my life." He looked like he was going to argue, but Cass signed at him before standing beside Mari. He looked at the boys for help, but the only one not glaring at him was Damian.
"Marinette, you're young. You have no idea the danger-"
"Do not pretend you know anything about me or my life, let alone what I do and do not know. I assure you, I know what I'm doing, and Luka and Kagami are not a threat or a problem. If you can't accept that, then you can leave." She hadn't wanted to get to this point so soon, especially since it put Cass's ability to stay in question. Unfortunately, she also wasn't willing to set a precedent with him by letting him think he could act this way with her. She'd been around enough powerful people to know that if she didn't set boundaries now, she'd never be able to enforce them. Jagged was proof of that.
"Perhaps we should discuss this privately." No way was that happening. She could almost see the hero lecture waiting to burst out of him.
"After what you just tried to pull, and your apparent history of browbeating your kids into things, we're not about to let that happen." Tom's voice was harder than she'd ever heard it. "If you won't respect my daughter's boundaries, you'll be asked to leave." The emphasis he put on 'my daughter' caused Bruce to flinch. She would feel worse about it if not for the fact that all her siblings, besides Damian, seemed to approve of it.
"I think we should separate for the time being, and try this again later. Tempers are high, so we all need space to calm down." Sabine sounded cheerful enough, but there was a hard edge to her words that everyone caught. As much as Mari thought it was a good idea, they were in a bit of a time crunch.
"Given that they're only going to be here for a week, it might be best to get things settled. But, if Bruce isn't willing to compromise, there's not much point in continuing this discussion." She could hear how tired she sounded and given the concerned looks at her and glares at Bruce, everyone else could, too.
"By compromise you mean letting you decide everything." The sulkiness in Bruce's voice made her roll her eyes. Yes, this had to suck for him, but he couldn't honestly expect her to let him just take over her life.
"No, but there are going to be things that aren't negotiable. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life, and I'd appreciate the same courtesy. We know next to nothing about eachother, and until we do it's not really fair to have an opinion on each other's lives." He didn't seem to know what to do with that. She was sure that, for a man used to being in charge, it wasn't something he had experience with. "I want to get to know you, all of you, but I'm not going to change who I am or how I live my life to do it. If you can't accept that, you can leave."
Cass hugged her from behind, and Mari could feel her twin glaring at Bruce. As much as she had hoped it wouldn't be necessary, it was obvious who Cass would side with in this. Of the boys, Jason seemed firmly entrenched on her side, Dick and Tim were more of a neutral, and Damian just seemed confused, but he'd most likely side with Bruce for the time being. Hopefully, it wouldn't destroy her chance of getting to know him permanently. When it became obvious Bruce either couldn't or wouldn't back down, Selina went over to start whispering in his ear. Alfred had been scarily silent through everything, and Mari really wasn't certain what to make of it.
"You need my help." Selina rolled her eyes, and Alfred just shook his head. The man really needed to learn when to back down.
"I need Cass. That's it." He flinched, and even the boys were trading looks. Bruce was closing off. She could see it. "I need to show Cass her new school. Why don't you take the evening to think things over? We can try this again tomorrow when everyone is calmer." Bruce looked about ready to explode.
"That sounds like a good idea. Master Bruce, we should head back to the hotel." The glare Bruce sent Alfred didn't phase the man at all. The stern look he sent back had the boys looking like they were ready to wet themselves.
"Fine." Bruce signed something at Cass and she felt her twin stiffen up behind her. Chloe looked like she was about to start screaming at him, too.
"Miss Cassandra will be staying with Miss Marinette. Indefinately." Alfred's tone was frigid and just about everyone seemed to be cowering or eyeing the man like he was going to explode. Even Bruce hunched in on himself a tiny bit. "Now we really should be on our way."
Mari had a feeling Alfred was going to be having a long conversation with Bruce. She just hoped it had the desired outcome. The man obviously had control issues, and she couldn't afford to have him try to take over her life. She had a feeling she was already going to have a major issue with Batman trying to step on her toes once he actually went through an Akuma attack. She couldn't count on there not being one before he and the others went home. Not to mention, if she'd heard right, he could just use some tech the Justice League had to teleport back at any time. She'd have to ask Cass about that, too.
Selina practically pushed Bruce out the door, while the boys followed under Alfred's gaze. Before going joining the rest, Jason shoved a piece of paper in her hand with a wink. She had a feeling he was one brother she could count on not to run to Bruce with information.
Once they were all out of the door, Mari felt herself relax. She felt terrible that things had gone downhill so quickly, but there really wasn't another option at this point. She couldn't afford to show weakness. There was far too much at stake, both in her personal life and as a hero. Cass tightened her hold on Mari.
"He needs time. He'll calm down."
"Unfortunately, time isn't something we have right now. If this doesn't get better, I'm going to have to force him to leave Paris before Hawkmoth is back in fighting form." She didn't even want to think about how much that would piss him off. She had a feeling Batman's ego wouldn't take too well to being thrown out of a city by another hero. Alfred and Selina would take her side... at least she thought so.
"Alfred will make things right." She wasn't quite sure what Cass meant by that, but she hoped she was right. She opened the paper that Jason handed her and heard Cass giggle behind her.
If you need someone to help you hassle B, give me a shout. ~Jason
It had five phone numbers on it. If she didn't know his 'occupation', it would seem excessive. It did mean she had at least one of her brothers on her side when it came to Bruce though. Whether that was a good thing or not was yet to be determined.
"Why don't we head over to the school? There are a few clubs meeting, so I know the building is open. That way, you can get a feel for the layout before tomorrow." She knew it would stress Cass out if they didn't scope out the building. It was going to be bad enough being around so many new people.
"You don't want to eat first?" Given the looks her Maman was shooting at the door, she was more worried about them running into Bruce than the actual food, but it was a good idea anyway.
"Of course, Maman. We wouldn't want it to go to waste." Especially since she made enough to feed the whole city again. Maybe she should text Jason and see if he wanted to meet them at the school and they could bring him some. "Maybe we could take some to go as well. I wanted to show Cass the houseboat, and if it's late enough, we might stay there." It wasn't a lie, just not the whole truth.
"Probably a good idea. It'll give your father and I time to talk to Bruce should he decide to come looking for you." She really hoped he didn't. Her Maman might actually kill him. She would text Selina or Alfred to make sure he didn't come over, but she had a feeling that would have the opposite effect she was looking for. After they ate and while her Maman was boxing up food, her Papa motioned her out into the hallway.
"What's wrong?" She heard the panic in her own voice and her Papa winced.
"Nothing's wrong. I didn't mean to worry you. I just wanted to make sure you were handling everything alright. I know things have been tense, and you tend to overthink everything without letting anyone know." She leaned forward slightly, and that's all it took for him to envelop her in a hug. Her Papa gave the best hugs.
"What if he makes her go back?" She knew it was an irrational thought, but it wouldn't go away. Her Papa hugged her tighter.
"That's not going to happen. We won't let it, and more importantly, Cass won't let it. I truly don't believe there's a force strong enough to separate the two of you. And if there is, Plagg will get rid of it." Marinette started giggling and couldn't stop. It was a little disturbing that she found the image of Plagg getting rid or Bruce amusing, but she was willing to chalk it up to stress.

I remember seeing a panel of Bruce and Barbara(?) talking how Dick's feelings for Starfire(?) Is just a phase and Babs(?), and thought about if Bruce had ever pushed/or try to direct Dick to date a girl he (Bruce) liked/preffered Dick to date? I mean I don't think Bruce will forcibly do so, but he clearly has preferences (cough titans is Nono to him cough).
Batman: Gotham Knights Issue #43
This one!
Even though he said this to Barbara, Bruce has drawn a line in overtly interfering with Dick's love life. Actually he makes it very clear that he's not going to interfere with Dick's love life after bringing up the topic.

Nightwing (1999) Issue #14
Which is....what just happened? Was he saying he disapproves? Clearly not because he says he believes in Dick and that sounds genuine. But then does that mean he approves? Then why didn't he give a clear answer, actually why did he even bring it up because Dick wasn't even talking about that in the first place.
He's openly supportive of Tim's choices so why doesn't he just say what he thinks about Dick? I guess it doesn't help that Dick reacts like a cat in hot water when it comes to Bruce's involvement in his life so this is probably that Bruce doesn't know what to say. I don't know if he doesn't want Dick to date anyone, which tracks from his thoughts on Dick's relationships with people in general, or if he has a particular inclination toward someone but he's afraid of saying it because he doesn't want it to blow up in his face.
Obviously the Titans are a no way. Like the Titans aren't even on the table for Bruce when it comes to acceptable Dick Grayson dating choices. They're probably in the neighbor's trash can lol.
He's against civilians in general, even for himself, so that wouldn't fly with him. Anyone from the league or heroes are just as bad as the Titans for Bruce because he's terrified of Dick leaving him and has canonical attachment issues to him. So it would have to be someone in Gotham or in direct attachment to the batfamily so he can gatekeep Dick Grayson.
That only leaves two available choices - Barbara and Helena - that Bruce would ever be okay with Dick dating. You know how sometimes people compromise or say things like "I love you and would do anything for you but in the end it's up to you and I respect that", yeah...Bruce just leaves off the last part indefinitely.
Although this comic issue is older, it shows that he's not particularly keen on Barbara either,
Detective Comics (1937) Issue #369
But that was then when it was just Dick, Barbara, and Bruce. Now there are more players in the game than just Barbara so compared to how much Dick would pull away if he dated or married one of them, Barbara looks like a shining star of a choice because all of Bruce's actions are inherently selfish although he tries his best not to be.
I think the issue with Bruce and Dick's dating life is the problem he has with Dick's life in general. He clearly wants to interfere, but he's worried about the backlash he's going to get.

Nightwing (2016) Issue #38
Because Dick loves to help others but he hates receiving help much to the despair of literally the entire rest of the hero community. But he's particularily sensitive about Bruce's involvement in his life because he only became Nightwing to prove to Bruce he can take care of himself. Since then, Bruce's relationship in term of helping Dick or giving him his opinions has been a series of "Can I-should I-" thoughts.
So although he'll never tell Dick his opinions because he's scared of the backlash, but he definitely has opinions.

I've been thinking of Young Justice season 3 episode 23 (also called "Terminus" if you Google what the name of the episode actually is) and how in that episode, it's basically confirmed that Dick Grayson (aka Nightwing aka the first Robin) had feelings for Wally West (aka the first Kid Flash). Not platonic, brotherly feelings. It basically confirmed that he had romantic feelings.
(Not in so many words, obviously. But the way he reacted when M'gann said it "also hacked into old memories... Old feelings" and he looked shocked then guilty pretty much confirms it in my book. Sorry not sorry. I love the gays.)
And in the accompanying comic of Young Justice on his birthday and how Babs said at the end when she's waiting at his apartment and he asks why she doesn't get together with him if she has feelings for him the same way he does and she says "because Wally's right, you're a dog. And you're not ready for me yet" but they're dating in season 3. After Wally died. After the man that Dick had feelings for him for who knows how long and didn't act on them for whatever reason (most definitely because he knew Wally didn't feel the same and Dick didn't want to ruin their friendship because he still wanted Wally in his life despite not having him be with him in the way he really wanted)
But then in season 4, Babs and Dick aren't dating anymore. (Who knows what happened, and who knows who broke it off, but they're not together in season 4.) And the previous season (which was a year before that season) he pretty much tells his best friends from the moment he formed bonds in the hero community that he was in love with one of their boyfriends who was also his best friend.
Don't even get me started on my theory of the Suit Change when he finally makes an appearance and the thing with trauma and how if you have a similar item or set up (or suit design) that it can make things worse... (If anyone wants the theory, lemme know and I can make another post, but this is it for now)
#birdflash#dick grayson#nightwing#the team#young justice season 3#Dick doesn't know how to deal with his feelings. prove mw wrong.

I present to you like a cat with a dead bird, my idea based on this prompt <3 (also its super late I actually forgot this in my notes)
It was hard to notice, but after it's been pointed out, it was even harder not to notice.
He doesn't know what kind of fucked up game the two were doing, but it absolutely fucking sucked.
"Jason." Bruce says casually, unaware of Jason's eyes lingering on Tim as he tenses slightly from where he was seated. After a moment, his shoulders relax again and he continues his video game.
"...what."
Bruce blanks for a moment. He shakes his head. "Sorry, I meant Tim."
Tim turns to look at Bruce, pausing his game. "Yeah, B?"
"Update me on the missing heart case, I need to know how far along you are, I might have new ideas on who the thief is." Tim nods.
"I'll send my files tonight." He turns back to his game and unpauses it. Bruce nods and leaves, and Jason just stares at Tim.
"You're trying to burn me with your glare or something? Do I have something on my back?" Tim remarks.
"You reacted to Bruce calling me. Why?"
Tim pauses the game and looks at him. "Uh, cause he came out of nowhere?"
Jason knows that was a fat lie.
"You never react when Bruce calls Damian or Dick. Just me. Why?" Logically, it could've been a fear thing. However, Jason knows that Robin number three only feared three things. Alfred, parental supervision, and Joker. (which, fair. Who *wasn't* amiright?) So to have the pretender flinch or tense at the mere mention of his name, specifically from *Bruce's* mouth, means something, and it better be good or else he was shooting both of them on the foot.
Tim shakes his head, scoffs, turns his game off and stands up to leave the room. "I don't know what to tell you, Jay. It just happens."
Jason's brow furrows together. "Yeah, but only with *my* name from *his* mouth. The fuck is up with that, birdbrain?"
Tim leaves the room, a loud call of "leave it be, Jason!" following after him.
......
Jason, obviously, does not leave it be. "I wanna know. Why can't I know? Is it some weird game you and B have?"
"Sure, Hood." Another fat lie. Jason's been stalking the duo for a few weeks. Bruce calls Tim 'Jason' even without him, Jason, being present in the room. And Tim, on instinct again, tenses, flinches, looks and freakin *responds*. Pavlov or something. Jason frowns at him.
"You're lying. You're a lying liar who lies, liar." Tim rolls his eyes.
Alfred smiles at the duo as he dries some dishes on the dish rack. "And why, may I ask, is master Timothy a, and I quote, 'a lying liar who lies'?"
Jason pouts at him. "He and B do this weird thing, and it's been buggin' me out, Alf!"
"He's lying, B and I don't do a 'weird thing', *He's* the lying liar who lies." In a moment,
Dick walks in wearing Barbara's barbie crop top. "Why is everyone a liar all of a sudden?" He asks, sitting on the barstool beside them. "Did I miss anything?"
Jason grumbles. "B keeps calling Tim by my name and he keeps responding. Tim's trying to gaslight me into thinking it's not a big deal." And Jason could be daydreaming, but he knows he's not. Alfred just flinched.
Dick hums. "I don't think it's a prank. B wouldn't play along with Tim's pranks, maybe he's growing senile." Dick laughs. Tim laughs with him and Jason stares at Alfred.
"That's what I said!" Tim snorts.
Alfred catches Jason's gaze and looks away. Dick was right. It wasn't a prank.
"Ooh! Actually, Timmy. Babs was working on this new coding system that's meant to prank a few rogues. Wanna work on it with us?" Tim's eyes *sparkle*.
"Yes." He says, breathless. He hops off and leaves the room, Dick following right behind him, excited babbles fading as they move farther away. Alfred continues drying dishes.
"You know."
"I know a lot of things, Master Jason."
"But Alf, you *know*. Why does-"
"Peace very rarely comes to this manor anymore, Master Jason. Perhaps Master Timothy was right. Let the matter pass, lad."
Jason flinches. Alfred never calls him 'lad', not unless it was important. Despite his instincts telling him not to, he lets the matter go.
......
So maybe he *is* a lying liar who lies, because he does not let the matter go.
He may not be as dedicated to the screens as Babs and Tim were, but he knew his way around it a bit. His eyes scan through the years of catalogue, finding anything and everything worth something.
(And thats where this ends cause idk where I was going with this?)
I very much so appreciate a link ^^
Hmm... Let's see...
~~~~
He's not sure what he was expecting to find, but it certainly wasn't hundreds of videos dated and organized. The computer highlights a collection of them as relevant to his search.
With a glance around to check his surroundings, Jason presses play.
Bruce is sitting facing the batcomputer's camera with his head in his hands as his elbows rest on the desk. He drags his palms against his face until he peers dejectedly up at the camera. He's practically mumbling through his fingers as he confesses,"I called him Jason again."
With a sigh, he drops both hands onto the table. "I had promised him I'd stop doing that." His gaze drifts to the side and his lips purse into a frown.
"I just- They're so different. I know that. I do. Those two boys couldn't have been more different if they tried.
Jason would spend hours holded up in the library with a classic in his hands. When asked, he could go on for hours about the greater meaning and plot devices. He could give a lecture on the color of the fucking carpet the author chose.
Tim, on the other hand, I don't even know if he knows which shelf in the Manor's library stores those novels. He'd rather be buried under a pile of metal scraps or files of cold cases.
Where Jason was cocky, Tim is snarky. Where Jason would bristle, Tim deflects. Where Jason's smile was beaming, Tim's is crooked.
They aren't the same... But fuck."
He glances at the camera as his shoulders slump.
"Fuck." He worries his bottom lip between his teeth as his forehead creases in anguish.
"I love Tim like a son. I care about him and worry for him. He means the world to me."
He huffs, his lip twitching upwards in dismayed humor. "And I can't stop failing him. I can't even get his fucking name right."
His nose scrunches in disgust at himself. "I-"
He shakes his head with a scoff. Laying his arms on the chair's armrests, he leans back. "No. There's no excuse. Even if they look the same, even if that look in their eye is the same, the one where they seem to think Batman is some kind of hero, that's no excuse. Tim's his own person. It doesn't matter that I want Jason back. It doesn't matter that I just want my son back."
Bruce's breath hitches as his eyes flutter shut. "Jason won't ever come home. He's not here and he'll never be here again."
The armrests creak under the grip of his hands.
"But Tim's right there, Bruce. I need to get this right."
His eyes open to stare at the camera.
"For Tim."
The video ends.
Jason wouldn't have clicked on it if he knew it was... a video diary? The Bats are nosy and invasive on a good day, but this feels like a major breach of boundaries and privacy. He shouldn't have watched it.
Yet, he doesn't click away.
He's not processing the rest of the video (those are 4am in the bathtub with a bottle of rum kind of realizations), but one thought sticks out to him.
Bruce still calls Tim "Jason." Why?
And Jason should leave. He should exit out of the folder and flee to his apartment. He should buy out a liquor store or smoke through a pack of cigarettes.
He shouldn't be clicking on the next video... But nobody else will tell him. He tried asking them.
Fuck it.
