#BUT NO ELEPHANTS

hi Lindsay! I saw that you were bored; what do you think of elephants? I think they're the cutest :)
I FREAKING LOVE ELEPHANTS!!!
People think I hate them because I'm a Democrat, but NO. Donkeys are a dumb logo. The GOP has it MADE with elephants.
I have bright pink Lilly Pulitzer shorts with white elephants all over them and they look SO cute with a strapless white top with ruffles, white wedges, and a white purse with bright pink Kendra Scott jewelry!!! I LOVE THEM SO VERY MUCH!!!
AND REAL ELEPHANTS? OMFG. The babies are ADORABLE. Even the grown up ones are adorable. And they have memories like I can only dream of.
God, elephants. They are one of the best animals. Not as good as flamingos, but definitely in the top 5!!!
Also, I learned to read when I was three, and the first book I read by myself was a book called "But No Elephants" (but the elephants were the good guys), and reading is my first love, so clearly elephants rule all.
There is also a great song called "Elephants" by Rachael Yamagata.
I THINK that's all I have to say about elephants... that's kind of probably more than you expected.
BEST QUESTION EVER.

Jason, freshly adopted from the streets. Still freaked out, wondering downstairs for breakfast.
Kid!Tim, munching on cereal: hi!
Jason: who are you?
Tim, wiping his hands clumsily on his pants and sticking it out for Jason to shake: Timothy Jackson Drake. Pleased to meet you!
Jason, shakes nervously before looking around: ah. Yeah. Jason.
Tim, seriously, eyes wide and innocent: did he steal you too?
Jason: What?
Tim: Did Batman steal you too?

i made a playlist of song titles in chronological order
update/disclaimer: not all of the songs on the playlist are in these screenshots! i think it would've been too many pics but the link is there if you want to see all of them. i've also added dozens of suggestions from other users since posting this so these screenshots are outdated
#music#playlist#spotify playlist#mine#adele#bo burnham#vampire weekend#jonas brothers#charli xcx#troye sivan#birdy#bowling for soup#owl city#erykah badu#anne marie#mac miller#ben folds#cage the elephant#they might be giants#arctic monkeys#Spotify#1985 by bo burnham was one of the songs that sparked this idea and it's not in these screenshots oops#1985 by bowling for soup was on there the whole time too no need to keep commenting it#that song is a cover but nobody seems to care about that it's all about year 3000 for you people#i dont think anyone on earth is reading these tags anymore but if youre gonna suggest a song please check the playlist first#or if you dont want to do that you can check the number of replies and comments/tags#and decide how likely it is that you're thinking of a song nobody's suggested yet

I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"
Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.
imagine this exchange happens between pages 28-29 in The Crab with the Golden Claws
#tintin#adventures of tintin#comic#captain haddock#archibald haddock#snowy#milou#fanart#the crab with the golden claws#i remember tintin crafting a trumpet to communicate with an elephant#and he remarks he must get the accent correct#very odd scenario but it shows he would be a stickler for that sort of thing#i also have to say accents do not indicate how smart someone is#a lot of pundits use an english accent to sound more credible#but i have to say there are a lot of fucking idiots here#me included#thank you 2011 film for validating my scottish haddock headcanon#any french speakers who have read to this point i wonder what your hcs are for his french speaking accent

Elephants call out to each other using individual names that they invent for their fellow pachyderms, a study said on Monday. While dolphins and parrots have been observed addressing each other by mimicking the sound of others from their species, elephants are the first non-human animals known to use names that do not involve imitation, the researchers suggested. For the new study, a team of international researchers used an聽artificial intelligence聽algorithm to analyse the calls of two wild herds of African savannah elephants in Kenya. The research "not only shows that elephants use specific vocalisations for each individual, but that they recognise and react to a call addressed to them while ignoring those addressed to others," lead study author Michael Pardo said. "This indicates that elephants can determine whether a call was intended for them just by hearing the call, even when out of its original context," the behavioural ecologist at Colorado State University聽said in a statement.
