I always thought I wanted Shen Jiu to heal from his trauma and cope in a way that doesn't hurt himself and the people around him, hence why I read all the Shen Jiu fanfics that I do. But now it's just like... did I really want that, or did I want him to still be bitter and resentful misanthropic jerk that he is, but still at peace somehow. Him using his anger doing smt productive in his life rather than misplacing it on his disciples. That anger should be fuel to cause greater destruction ykwim.

Imagine if Shen Jiu was like Jin Guangyao and manipulated people into thinking he was an understanding or compassionate person and used crumbs of his backstory to really sell it just to further his own agenda. Much easier to get shit done if ppl aren't always suspecting you even if you didn't do smt. Like the book keeps calling him two faced, and I'm like was he tho???? Was he ever acting two faced?? Pretty sure he made his true personality clear from the start idk what Luo Binghe or Shen Yuan were on abt XD
