Ace, have you read Project Hail Mary? I remember you being a fan of the author's other book The Martian (which I haven't read either). I adore Project Hail Mary so much. Actually I just love all of Andy Weir's books. They're all so good. He's one of my favorite authors. But PHM especially is amazing. I loved it.

My favorite things about Andy Weir's books is that they're all super hopeful. The main characters go through some serious crap but the books all end with hope and I love that. There's like ZERO romance in them which I love. Mark Watney and Ryland Grace are so ace coded. And Weir includes a lot of science but he presents it all in such a humorous way that it's fun to read. He's really good at explaining the scientific aspects in simple ways. Some examples of the humor:

“Me: “This is obviously a clog. How about I take it apart and check the internal tubing?” NASA: (after five hours of deliberation) “No. You’ll fuck it up and die.” So I took it apart.” - The Martian

“The screen went black before I was out of the airlock. Turns out the “L” in “LCD” stands for “Liquid.” I guess it either froze or boiled off. Maybe I’ll post a consumer review. “Brought product to surface of Mars. It stopped working. 0/10.” - The Martian
