#BTS makes history yet again

been trying to come up with a BattleTech “pitch” for fans of The Expanse, but honestly?

this is probably enough, plus the official “primer” document if you want actual information rather than just a bunch of pretty images and a banging soundtrack by Jon Everist (who I’m fairly sure admitted he wanted this piece to sound kind of Expanse-y)

politics-heavy hard-SF space opera, thrilling heroics, (almost) zero easy answers to the dilemma of the day, main themes are “people are always going to be people” and “the end justifies the means, but there is no end”. obviously this describes both settings nicely.

one just uses that to explain why people are hopping into big war robots and slapping the shit out of each other.

im sorry your takes are generally pretty great and i appreciate the space you make in fandom but i find the dismissal around lestat's queerness to be diminishing.

louis is a fantastic gay character and u r right about how he represents his queerness which is fabulously. he is mother he is fashion he is wife, a lot, and lestat is a lot more masc in aspects of their dynamic. louis also struggles with it, had internalized homophobia, and his relationship to his sexuality is fraught. now you can have that complexity and still be a "gay icon" sure but what i see here is a gay man existing. not every gay man existing has to be ~iconic~. louis is working on himself.

lestat is a different person and is going out there to make a mark on culture actively, regardless of why. he's not putting on a dress for five seconds (which btw was still pretty impactful in context but ok), he is being meaningfully gnc and making art. this is what queer culture is. it's frustrating to see this element diminished like it's just a meme or a bunch of people being thirsty.

im all for critiquing fandom being weirdos about it but i think the showrunners are doing something spectacular and pretending like fans are making lestat into something he is not just isn't the vibe.

reading this made me realize that I left out a sentence in this ask, so it did come off differently than I intended. I'd meant to say there's already been a lot of exploration of characters / ppl like lestat, but there's never been a character like louis before. I wasn't rly ever talking about lestat's queerness itself, I was talking about how he's prioritized bcuz he's white.

if u personally identity with him in this then that's ur right to, obviously. no group is a monolith and I was never trying to say one way is more "right" than the other. I rly do apologize if it came across like that, cuz I can see why it did.

I don't rly know what u mean here bcuz within the show, nobody comments on the dress. ppl react to the baby but everything we know of the dress otherwise was only revealed by carol cutshall bts. I don't know what impact ur meaning here. to the tv audience, sure, but the NOLA audience?? or is it the fact he designed it in the first place.

tbh the thing I most noticed was that once again a white, european immigrant got to be center stage in an event that louis, as a black, louisiana native, isn't (like the card game lestat already had a place at more favored than louis earlier in S1). he also was able to wear that dress in public without public scorn (being european prbly helped here too, he's "other'd" but not the same way as louis is "other'd" for being black), which is something louis could never have done and actually survived at all. it's not that lestat doesn't experience homophobia otherwise, but he's still got a lot more room to confront it than louis, claudia, or armand would have, as ppl who would be confronting homophobia *and* racism with no access to white privilege (claudia literally dies in the same hour we see lestat confront a homophobe otherwise on his and louis' behalf and "win").

idk what they're going to explore for S3 yet, but what we've seen so far is....not that deep tbh. it's not even especially "queer." we're aware he is so we know it is, but straight men have worn makeup and flashy outfits and done homoerotic shit as musicians before too. very often. nothing we've seen from lestat so far has been pushing any boundary as a queer artist or making any kind of statement. I'm not trying to sound like a total bitch here, but a lot of what ur saying is pushing this white fandom agenda of the "importance" of so much that any white, queer character does that....just isn't. lestat's image and sound is taking a lot from other ppl in real music history who *were* doing groundbreaking things at the time, straight or not, but what he's doing is just wearing it as a costume rn. his lyrics even say "I'm an actor / in my makeup." like I said, S3 in full will bring more to the table, obviously, but for what we've seen so far....this hasn't said anything in any objective way that's "deep." u can still like it and identity with it, but idk how u'd argue that it's doing anything tbh. ur welcome to do it tho, I'm not trying to shut down the conversation here. I'm just giving my perspective. I *do* actually think this is stuff we should talk about exactly *bcuz* fandom rides so hard for it all the time. it should be explored why that is, what's the logic behind it. I rly am interested.

edit: wanted to add too that p much everyone we see in this show is queer and creative so literally why is nobody ever saying all this about louis' photography, claudia's acting and interest in fashion (or her general observations on the world thru so many diaries that are referenced in multiple ways as she's not around anymore to speak otherwise), armand's theatre work, madeleine's dressmaking. that's usually why ppl comment on lestat, bcuz he's the most noticed and praised but he's literally not the only one doing it at all.

bts jealousy scenarios

someone asked for this but I'm an idiot who doesn't know how asks work so I lost it.

anyways the ask was just 'jealousy' and that lack of instruction made my autistic ass scared. Here it finally is.

warnings: one (1) sad ending, angst, drunk person, history student writer finding it necessary to put one historical au in there. (why do i try to be funny in these intro/warning thingies? nobody reads this. I am a jester putting on a clown's show for the deaf and blind)

KIM SEOKJIN

She's dancing. Not only is she dancing, she's dancing with her husband...and it's not him. He watches her swaying along the dance floor with the better man. Seokjin knew he was the better man. If he wasn't you wouldn't have married him. Your new husband Jinyoung lifts you up and twirls you around and you laugh, a sound clear as water. You smiled brighter when you were with Jinyoung, laughed harder, moved with more energy. Seokjin knew he had lost. Still he couldn't bring himself to be angry. You were happy. That was all that mattered. When he lost you years ago he'd signed up for a life on the sidelines and now he had to bear the consequences.

The song ended and you let your husband go. Seokjin walked over to you right after gathering all his courage and swallowing the frog in his throat. "dance with me!" you said before he could. He couldn't find any words so just took your hand and walked you back to the dancefloor. once you've found your rhythm and are softly rocking back and forth on the shiny floor of the gorgeous venue, he finally finds his voice. "Are you happy?", He asks. "of course", you beam. "Just wanted to make sure", he says almost whispering. your smile drops: "are you okay?" you ask concerned. "When you're with me always". "You need to let me go Jin". He sighs, tears welling up in his eyes: "I'm sorry". It's the last thing he says before walking away out of the venue into the night. He'll take enough with this. As long as you're in his life he would never truly be unhappy. He'd be the dry dust of the savannah spending his time waiting to be blessed by your rain. He'd be the moon yearning for the moments he could take some of your sunlight every once in a while. If this was all the both of you could be then that's how it would be.

MIN YOONGI

You were dancing with Mr. Fleatwood again. Yoongi knew he'd been courting you for more than 10 months now. It was killing him. Why couldn't he just work up the courage to ask you. To go to your house as a caller instead of just waiting for you to look in his direction. His family was much wealthier than yours so there was no need for him to be embarrassed, and yet he was. Something about your divine beauty, your quick wit and sharp intelligence made him a nervous wreck.

"why don't you ask her to dance? What's the worst thing that could happen?" Namjoon, his best friend had come to stand next to him, his wife on his arm. "She could look at me". "oh you melodramatic piece of work!" Namjoon's wife exclaimed. Yoongi sighed melodramatically: "I'm too late, she's been courted by Mr. Fleatwood for over 10 months. A proposal can't be far away". "exactly!" Namjoon said with a smile Yoongi found way to optimistic looking. "they've been courting for over a year and no proposal yet. They're taking too long. If you ask me, she's trying to shake him off". "I've learned not to ask you things", yoongi chuckled, but while his friend walked of he considered what he had said. Maybe he did have a chance. "worst case scenario she dumps her glass over your head. It's a hot summer night, it'll be refreshing. Just go for it before I do it for you", Namjoon's equally optimistic wife whispered near his ear. All right then, here goes nothing. Yoongi walks over to you. "Miss, might I have this dance?" "If you take me away from that bore of a Mr. Fleatwood you can have anything", you smiled.

KIM NAMJOON

Namjoon's watching you on set. He came here to surprise you at work. This way he could drive you home to the dinner he made for you. When you told him you would be acting in a romantic comedy he thought he would be able to handle it. Turns out he couldn't. Your co-star just threw you on the bed and was crawling over you. When he kissed you Namjoon decided it was time to take a bathroom break.

When he comes over the scene is done and you're getting ready to leave. "Hey honey!", you beam at him. "Yeah, hey honey", he huffs. "What's up with you?" you ask frowning. "Nothing, I'd just like to get home", he answer dramatically looking away from you. You chuckle and figure you have an idea about what's going on here. "okay, okay, I'm almost ready". When you're out of costume you leave with Namjoon to the parking lot. He doesn't say anything the whole way. When he starts driving and you look over to him to see him angrily sticking his tongue in his cheek you can't take it anymore. You try to hold in your laugh while you ask him: "Are you upset about the scene?" "Don't laugh at me", he says curtly. "Oh come on Namjoon don't be ridiculous, it was only a scene for a movie". Namjoon dramatically looks out the window. "Would it help you if I told you that my co-star is an absolute dick that I can't stand?" "Would that be true or just something to shush my hurt feelings?", Namjoon says with a small smile on his face. "It would very much be true". "Do you need me to beat him up for you?" You laugh: "I shouldn't have to ask you things like that, you should just do it". "I prepared a date for us", Namjoon says after laughing: "I'm sorry I overreacted". "It's okay, I get it".

JUNG HOSEOK

You're sitting in front of him at the restaurant you agreed on. Next to you is your boyfriend and next to him is his girlfriend. God how he hates this. Why did he agree to go on this double date? Why was he dating Jinae? He didn't love her. Why were you dating this douchebag? He didn't love you and Hoseok didn't even want to think about the possibility that you truly loved him. Lastly, why oh why was he not the one next to you? You should be dating him. Hoseok was sure he could give you everything you wanted, make you so much happier than he could. He saw the way your boyfriend looked at other women. How he made little comments that made your smile drop. Hoseok had spent this entire date moping and barely talking. "So how long have you been dating again?", your boyfriend asks. "eeuhm...", Hoseok hesitates just long enough to make it awkward before Jinae saves him: "almost a month". An awkward silence falls before you ask your boyfriend to go dance with you. Oh God that's right, this godforsaken restaurant has a dancefloor and romantic music playing. Your boyfriend manages to catch himself right in time but Hoseok saw he was about to roll his eyes. He would never do that. If you asked him to to dance with you he would be the happiest man on earth.

You're on the dancefloor slow dancing with your boyfriend and Hoseok stares holes into the back of your head while ignoring his girlfriend next to him. He knows he's being horrible to her. That she doesn't deserve this, but he couldn't stand to be alone while you were with someone. "they're so cute. Do you think we could ever be like that?", Jinae asks with an endeared look in her eyes. "no". "What is up with you? Why did you bring me here, you've been ignoring me all night", Jinae sounds clearly offended. "I don't know, I think we should break up".

PARK JIMIN

You're laying on your couch watching some romantic movie. An empty container of ice cream is laying on the floor in front of you and the tear streaks are still clear on your face. You and your boyfriend just broke up. Apparently He couldn't handle your close friendship with Jimin. It had started with him making sly remarks towards him and ended with him accusing you of cheating. Doors had been slammed and tears shed but it was over now, for good. You'd gone straight home and hadn't contacted anyone. you Just wanted to be alone.

All of a sudden your shaken awake by the ringing of your doorbell. After blinking your sleep away you get up to open the door. On the way there you look at the clock and see it's 2am. The bell rings again right before you open the door. Jimin almost falls onto your floor. "What are you doing here?" You ask softly. Jimin leans against the wall and manages to slur out: "You've ruined my life". He smells of alcohol. "Jimin, what are you talking about?" "I can't stop thinking about you and your stupid boyfriend. I haven't been able to stop thinking about you for years and now you have this idiot of a boyfriend. I hate him. he's so pretentious. You should be with me because when you're not it burns and I need you to make it stop. I know you love him. I know I don't have a chance with you. You're so smart and he's also smart and I'm not. You always talk about how amazing he is and I can't fucking take it. Maybe I should get out of your life, it hurts too much". All of this was rambled and a lot of it incomprehensible. after a moment of silence and Jimin trying to stay standing by holding on to the hallway mirror you say: "We broke up". "Come on Jimin, you can sleep on the couch and we'll talk tomorrow". "Okay, I love you", Jimin slurs while following you to the living room.

KIM TAEHYUNG

Your new fiancé has been proudly strutting around all night with you on his arm. You're gorgeous as always. His name was Dokyeom and he was annoyingly perfect. He was everything you deserved and everything Taehyung wasn't. You were the heiress of your mothers company and so you were always meant to marry the son of a rich family. That wasn't him. Taehyung came from an average family. The only reason he was here was because he was your best friend and you invited him to every single one of these events.

Dokyeom puts his arm around your waist, pulls you closer and Taehyung almost recoils. He couldn't take this. He had to get out of here. Since you were teenagers he'd been in love with you. Never once did he say anything. It would ruin your friendship with no point because he's always known you were to marry rich. And the worst part about all of this; you were happy. This would be so much easier if you hated Dokyeom. If you called Taehyung every night to complain about the horrible man your parents had arranged you to marry, but you didn't. You liked your fiancé.

He left. He had to. On his way out he asked one of your mutual friends to tell you he was sorry. He was just about to step out the door onto the street when he heard you call his name. "Taehyung, where are you going so early?" "oh, I'm just tired. Thought I'd head out early". "Without saying goodbye?" He hated this look on your face. Your face had fallen when he said that and now he felt horrible. You frowned and said: "you normally love these things. What's really going on?" He figured there was no point in lying. Maybe Namjoon had been right when he said that the best thing to do would be to be honest with you. So here he went; finally taking his chance after almost 10 years. "I can't do this Y/N. I can't watch you marry that guy. I love you. I love you so much and yet I can't stand to watch you be happy with someone else. I can't keep hurting myself.

"Run away with me", was all you answered.

JEON JUNGKOOK

He was going to kill that guy, and after that you. No, he would never do that; he loved you. He was just mad. Earlier tonight you had fought. You wanted to go out with your friends but when Jungkook saw the dress you were wearing he told you to change. It turned into a fight. You said he had no right to tell you what to wear and he had accused you of not respecting him. In hindsight he'd realised you were right. So now he was here at the club he knew you were at, to apologise. He didn't want to wait until you were back because then he'd be asleep and he knew that you wouldn't talk about it the next morning.

When he arrived he'd spotted you after a mere 2 seconds of looking at the dancefloor. You were dancing closely with some guy. He had his hands all over you but you seemed to drunk to realise. A couple seconds later you seemed to sober up a bit and told the guy to back of. He didn't of course. This was Jungkook's cue to step in. He marched up to the guy and pulled him away from you. "When a lady says back off, you back of alright you piece of filth". He wrapped his arm around your shoulders, "let's go home Y/N". "Okay, but I'm still mad at you". "Yeah about that", he lead you out of the club while saying: "I'm sorry about that, you were right I totally overreacted". He opened the car door for you and then went over to the driver's seat. "You should be able to wear what you want, I'll shut up about it next time". "Good". You said curtly. After a few minutes of silence you softly said "I'm sorry I stormed out without solving the argument". He looked over and smiled, "Forgiven and forgotten".

The Grammy's - Part Two

The GRAMMY’s.

The Grammy Awards are awards presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognise “outstanding” achievements in the music industry…if you believed what you read on Wikipedia and if you didn’t see the artists who had brought exceptional change to the music industry like Lana Del Ray, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and even Diana Ross.

BTS were included in that list of people who had changed the music industry, had made Billboard change their rules every time they brought out a new single or album, had streaming numbers no one else had and yet for all the Grammy nominations, performances and making an appearance, there was no Grammy. 

Until they had received a notification from Bang-PD to their phones, though five of those messages had been delayed in getting to their recipients. 

Grammy Nominations have come through - Grace has got 3. 

7 Rings - Record of the Year

In My Head - Album of the Year

7 Rings - Best Pop Solo Performance. 

Each had a different reaction to the news, which was understandable. At first, there was elation over the fact that at least one of them got a Grammy nod, second was amazement that she had scored three big major categories and then worry mixed in with disappointment. Why hadn’t they had the nomination? Whether solo or as a group, the Grammy’s had left a bitter taste in their mouths. 

Namjoon, Yoongi and Seokjin knew Grace would flat-out refuse to perform or even go to the awards. They knew her back to front - her loyalty stood with the group and if they weren’t getting a nomination, then neither would she. 

However, this was a defining moment in her career, their careers, their history and for the country. 

And for those who knew what kind of start Grace had, this would be the perfect way to celebrate that career. 

She started as an admin assistant, straight out of school and into employment with Big Hit Entertainment who then saw that she could do ballet dancing, and ballroom dancing, who could sing though that skill was untouched, spoke perfect English, could speak German as well and had all the charm of an idol.

Yet there was no place for her. 

Everyone knew Bang PD wanted a hip-hop group and that’s what he started with in Namjoon, then Yoongi and Hobi. Grace was added as a backup for the ability to sing their ad-libs and rap alongside them without any problem. Then along came Seokjin & Jungkook, Taehyung and Jimin and suddenly they were an idol group. 

A woman shouldn’t be doing hip-hop with a boy group and so she had signed a two album contract which had left her on tenterhooks as to whether all the skills she had gained while working with Bangtan Sonyeondan would now be worthless. But along came Skool Luv Affair and Dark & Wild and everything fell into place. 

Now they couldn’t see the group without their eldest member, the only female, their noona. The woman who protected them in every sense of the word and who had always been there for their solo projects and careers. Her own started very late after their military careers had started so she had full reign of being the BTS representative. 

If her upcoming tour was a testament to how well her solo career had taken off, then a Grammy nomination would just solidify that. 

Updates were coming in every day and then it was the date of the Grammy Awards themselves. Jungkook, Jimin, Taehyung, Namjoon & Yoongi were given special permission for absence of leave for two days so Seokjin planned a private viewing party just for the boys, their close friends who knew Grace as well and some of their team. 

Seokjin had been up till late preparing snacks and food as the Grammy’s would start at 10am their time. There was plenty of alcohol covering his kitchen counter and there was food everywhere when Hobi had arrived first.

“Hyung, have you been stress cooking again?��� 

Seokjin paused where he was putting out plates and cups, chilling the expensive alcohol that had been gifted to him by someone and making sure there was enough kimchi in the container. Multitasking at its finest. 

“Maybe? I can’t help it. I’m nervous, more for Grace than anyone else.”

Hobi sighed, having had the same conversation with every other member of the team and Grace herself. She had massive reservations about attending and performing, believing it all to be a big farce so they could have big viewing numbers. 

“I know, but noona will be fine. She’s a lot stronger than us and a loss at the Grammy’s won’t affect her like it did us. As she said, as long as her performance is killer, who cares.”

Nothing more could be said as the front door opened and the rest of his boys poured through, Jungkook first then the rest following with bags of more food and alcohol. 

“How drunk are you all getting?” Hobi laughed, receiving hugs and pats on the back as he looked at the various sized bags that were being dumped in the kitchen.

“It would have been more but Yoongi-hyung stopped us,” Taehyung shrugged as he dropped his bag and then lifted his arm, flexing it to show off his muscles which caused Jimin to roll his eyes and push at him. “We’ve all got muscles. It hasn’t been that long since Hobi-hyung has seen us.”

“Are you feeling okay?” Yoongi and Namjoon asked Seokjin at the same time, causing the two to pause, look at each other then back at their hyung. 

Jungkook, while looking every inch the military man he had become, had wrapped his arms around Seokjin and pushed his face into his back.

“Nervous,” Seokjin admitted while patting Jungkook’s hands. “I’m more nervous for her than about the whole thing. But I know she can handle it. It’s just a big thing.”

“For everyone,” Namjoon smiled slightly and reached over to give Seokjin’s shoulder a squeeze, causing the man to squawk at how strong that grip had become. “Ah, sorry hyung.”

“Come on, let’s get the TV sorted before everyone else comes. And start cracking the bottles open hyung, let the champagne breathe before we get started,” Yoongi grinned as he took control of the situation, shooing people to start doing jobs.

Even though it was early in the morning and most people had been up all night working, everyone was in bright spirits as the coffee churned. The living room was filled with about 20 people, some on the couch, some on the floor, some on chairs they had brought over. Jungkook had even stolen the spare mattress in the other room and had laid it out on the floor for some.

BTS, however, had taken control of the couch. 

They barely listened to the people talking on the screen as they all settled down with their various glasses of drink though Seokjin, Hobi and Namjoon had stuck to iced coffee for now. They wanted to be sober enough to get to her performance before drinking any type of alcohol.

Their phones went off at the same time.

“Oh my god, look at her!”

Taehyung lifted his phone up and began showing it around to the others. Sejin had sent a picture of Grace between her parents, dressed in her Elie Saab dress and made up to the nines as her father stood in a suit to her left and her mother stood to her right in a gold dress. They all matched perfectly to what Grace was wearing. 

Messages quickly flew out of good luck, hope it all goes well, kill the stage, etc. None were read by Grace but Sejin sent a thumbs up emoji back with a winky face. 

There was silence in the room as they watched the red carpet, pointing out the various celebrities they knew of or had met. They had immediately spotted Liam McEwan, one of the reporters who they actually liked. And then they saw Bang PD step out of the car with Grace’s parents, a member of staff leading them past the red carpet and inside.

“Here we go,” Seokjin muttered as Namjoon’s hand squeezed his shoulder again, a bit more gently this time. 

The noise from the crowd was instantaneous. 

Hands reached forward for the remote control to turn down the volume a bit as screams were heard, many heads turned as the camera switched to Liam McEwan. “Everybody, Grace Chu from BTS has arrived! The queen is here.”

The boys held their breath until the camera caught up with where it was meant to be, showing Grace in front of the Grammy backdrop, cameras flashing in her eyes as she smiled for the photographers. The dress sparkled each time the camera flashed and then she was moved along, straight towards Liam. 

“Seee! Told you she could do it,” Yoongi said as he raised his glass of whiskey, not at all a bit tipsy as Jungkook reached over and filled it up for him. When did he get started on that?

“She hasn’t even gotten inside yet hyung,” Jimin laughed, already opening another bottle of champagne as if Grace had already won her three awards and had been crowned Queen of Korea. 

Seokjin and Namjoon as well as Hobi, the only three who had been determined not to drink until the end, slowly sipped on their iced coffee and laughed as they watched an excited maknae open Taehyung’s bottle of wine for him. 

“But she’s won everyone over! I mean, that dress is amazing on her,” Taehyung said as he stood, pushing over Jimin who spilled himself into Hobi’s lap. Obviously, a career in the military had done nothing to dampen their enthusiasm. 

Taehyung stood next to the large TV screen, pointing at various parts of her dress. “I mean, it’s pretty low. I wonder who signed that off but either way, she looks amazing. And look! Cleavage! No one has seen noona with cleavage yet.”

Yoongi groaned, covering his eyes. “Don’t mention Grace and cleavage in the same sentence. I’m not drunk enough yet.”

Seokjin hid a grin behind his hand and tried not to chuckle, ignoring Hobi who was cackling into his back and Namjoon who stood ready to defend his noona’s honour until he was pulled back down. 

“What?” Taehyung asked, grinning. “Okay, okay. But this is history in the making here. She’s got everyone eating out of her hand already and she’s not even inside yet. Is that Taylor Swift she’s saying hello to? Oh, it's Nicki Minaj. Ah, another collab being set up there.”

“Tae,” Seokjin started and threw a napkin at him. “Sit down before your eyes turn into the same shape as the TV. You’re blocking the view as well.”

There were plenty of voices who agreed with him as Tae pouted and sat back down, ignoring the maknae line’s giggles. 

The next time they saw Grace was sitting with her parents in the main room, taking a glass of water and gulping it down before Sejin and the Grammy team led her away. 

“Oh this is it,” Jungkook whispered as he somehow managed to squeeze in next to Seokjin. If there were two people in the room who were close to Grace and could feel her nerves from here, it would be them. 

“Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to 5-time Grammy nominated member of BTS, Grace Chu,” the loud announcement came.

“Okay. This is it,” Namjoon said as he went into leader mode. “Everyone shut up and let’s enjoy it.” Nothing more needed to be said as everyone went into quiet mode, 20 sets of eyes on the TV that showed a black curtain being lifted as the opening to the Sound of Music’s ‘Favourite Things’ was being played by a small orchestra, dressed in black dinner suits and dresses.

Jungkook reached over and held onto Seokjin’s hand tight.

Each light in the middle came on to show her standing there, in her blazer dress that was very short but presentable and caused some uproar from the boys the moment they saw it but a quick look from Namjoon and they settled again. 

Her eyes met the camera as it slowly zoomed in and she gave a small smile as she started to sing, four female dancers walking on stage to meet her dressed in white suits. 

“My wrist, stop watchin’, my neck is flossy,” Grace and Jungkook sang at the same time, though he did it under his breath as he watched the choreography on the TV. By the time the chorus came, the four female dancers spread further apart to allow the seven male dancers to come alongside though they were dressed in matching black suits.

“Wearing a ring, but ain’t gon’ be no Mrs,” Grace sang as she flashed her left hand, wiggling slightly causing Jimin and Taehyung to giggle.

There were more outrage noises when it came to the second pre-chorus, the female dancers were back as the lyrics “my smile is beamin’, my skin is gleamin’” were sung but instead of Grace doing the usual choreography that the boys were used to, it had been changed for American tv.

All five women turned and leaned forward, resting heads on backsides as Grace shifted hands to turn her head towards the camera as she sang the rest of the lyrics, “the way it shine, I know you’ve seen it” as her hand went down the thigh of the dancer who she was resting on. 

“I bought a crib just for the closet,” Grace sang as she rightened herself, not paying attention to the crowd’s delighted noises or what her parents were going to think. Right now, it was a cause of getting through this song to get to the rap part and then done.

All dancers were back for the chorus and Yoongi, Hobi and Namjoon shifted towards the edge of the seat. They had seen the many comments around this song and whether Grace could perform the rap part live, since it was so fat, not realising she covered their rap parts with ease when they needed her to. 

“When you see them racks, they stacked up like my ass yeah,” she sang/rapped, turning her body a little to camera to show her hand grabbing a chunk of her backside to match the lyrics. She then fully turned to the camera, the dancers in formation on either side of her as she continued the verse.

“Shoot, go from the store to the booth. Make it all back in one loop, gimmie the loot,” she continued as she danced her way through the verse without stopping to take a breath.

In complete jubilation, every single person in Seokjin’s living room sang along with her.

“Nevermind I got the juice. Nothing but net when we shoot. Look at my neck, look at my jet!”

“Ain’t got enough money to pay me respect. Ain’t no budget when I’m on the set If I like it, then that’s what I get,” Grace continued from where they left off singing. 

The dancers all left the stage as the orchestra took over the last chorus, letting the song play out once Grace stopped singing. The audience stood, clapping and cheering for her and even though the camera’s didn’t show it, she did a full bow to the crowd.

“Okay, that was amazing!” 

The alcohol was flowing now the worst of the nerves were over with and Seokjin happily accepted the glass of wine, Namjoon a whiskey from Yoongi and Hobi a washed down glass of white wine. All seven boys, their close friends and team lifted their glasses in cheers.

“Namjoon, you do it,” Yoongi said as everyone looked to Seokjin to lead the toast.

“Oh right,” their leader said as he stood, making his way to stand next to the TV where the awards were flowing.

“When I first met noona, I was a shy teenager who had no clue, probably like many of us. She didn’t care that I was into hip hop, that I had big dreams and that I wanted to be something. All she cared about was Namjoon - what did he want? And I never knew the answer to that question until the day she and I were out buying plants,” Namjoon paused then laughed when he realised he was getting teary as was the rest of the boys in front of him. 

“She asked what I wanted? And I picked up this plant pot because it was cute. And I realised there and then, that all noona wanted from me was to be happy and if a plant pot made me happy because it was cute, then that’s what she was going to get for me. Seeing her come from someone who didn’t know their place in the world to now seeing her up there on the Grammy stage, I’m very thankful that I have Grace Chu in my life. So fuck the Grammy’s, who gives a shit. Grace Chu just made history!”

Everyone’s glasses went up with cheers. “To Grace Chu!” they all said then downed their alcohol in one go, only for glasses to be filled again just as quickly.

There was complete and utter silence when she didn’t win Best Pop Solo Performance, though Jungkook could see the storm brewing over his leader’s head. “Noona isn’t bothered,” he muttered as he pointed to her on the screen as she laughed and talked to her parents, completely unbothered by the fact she didn’t win. 

It turned out to be a very long morning as each award came and went. 

“The nominees for Record of the Year are,” that sentence interrupted all the conversations in the room, heads turning on a swivel to stare at the screen. 

BTS turned to look at each other and as if they had the same thought, they each reached over to clasp hands. Namjoon closed his eyes, let out a breath and prayed.

“And the winner is,” there was a giant pause and Grace on the screen turned to her mother to say something before the answer was revealed:  “7 Rings - Grace Chu.”

There was complete and utter pandemonium in Seokjin’s living room. Namjoon had fallen to the floor on his knees, Jungkook on his back. Taehyung and Jimin were hugging each other, Hobi stared at the screen in utter confusion and Yoongi reached over to wrap an arm around Seokjin’s shoulders.

“She did it, hyung. She actually did it.”

They missed most of her speech, only calming down enough to hear the last part of it. 

“Holy shit,” Namjoon muttered as he wiped a hand down his face and stayed where he was. Jungkook grabbed hold of his shoulders and whispered hurriedly at him. “Hyung, hyung, look.”

On screen, Chris Martin from Coldplay was walking across the stage.

“No way,” Seokjin whispered as Yoongi grabbed hold of his hand, squeezing tight. If there was anyone who was important to the couple and to the rest of the band, it would be Chris. The fact he was there to present the biggest award of the night was not missed by anyone.

“The winner for Album of the Year,” Chris paused and turned to look at Grace. “In My Head" by Grace Chu, produced by Bang PD & PDogg from Big Hit Entertainment. Congratulations.”

There was silence for a moment and then a multitude of noise. Cheers, screams, crying, hooting, laughter and some kind of noise Taehyung had produced at the news. Each man had a different reaction as they watched Grace stand and walk up to the stage, greeting Chris the traditional way before hugging him. 

They went silent again as Grace started her speech, each of them holding their breath as they were standing. It wasn’t missed that she had said her boys, ARMY and her man separately and for her to acknowledge Seokjin like that on American TV was another big moment.  

Jimin’s phone rang just as Grace walked off stage and he quickly pulled it out, seeing Sejin’s name on the screen.

“Ah Sejin-hyung,” Jimin said while he put the voice call on speakerphone so they could hear their old manager. 

“Grace is just coming backstage now so I’ve got you on speakerphone, one moment.” They could hear the tears in his voice over the noise in the background. “Grace, the boys are on the phone.”

They were all screaming their congratulations on the line and suddenly they heard Bang-PD on the line.

“Boys,” he started crying again. “I’m so proud of you all. So proud. I’m letting Grace have a moment with her parents but I just wanted to say I’m very proud of you all. Thank you.”

It was hard to even get their words out but there were promises for a celebration dinner when they got back and Grace would speak to them later once she got back to her hotel. 

“She did it,” Namjoon whispered as he saw the notifications on his phone on various media outlets across South Korea and America reporting on Grace winning her two Grammys. CL, IU, TXT and others were posting on their social media, tagging BTS and Grace in their posts. Even Billboard had put up a post.

“She did it,” Namjoon repeated as he rested a hand on Seokjin’s back and an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders. Hobi joined them at Jungkook’s side, pulling Jimin and Taehyung in and Yoongi joined them by wrapping an arm around Taehyung and Seokjin. 

Grace would return back to Korea, to them, as a twice Grammy awarded artist. And no one would be able to say that Korea’s Noona hadn’t broken the barrier that they all needed to be broken and no one could say that they as a group and individually weren’t leading the way for other Korean idols and groups.

The Lighting and Colour of Calypso's Birthday

Ended up doing a slightly large rambling thread over on bsky about the use of lighting and colour in Calypso's birthday, so I'll bring it over here to inflict it on you as well :D

The lighting is so important and so reflective of what's happening. Lemme take a minute to yell about it because when I was watching it back, I was flailing in so many directions and we know the choices were deliberately made because bts folks have mentioned it.

Take a look at the start of the party and the colours that are on display and look at the colour-grading for all of the people at the party. Specifically, you'll see that a lot of the lighting is warm-hued, with reds and golds showing in the skin highlights.

Warmth and joy and brightness.

But I also rly rly need to take a moment for the specific lighting on Ed and Stede in this moment. They're both finding their feet together, finding their balance, but the colours here? Hark back to their subconscious minds attacked them: Stede's fever in 1x4 and Ed's gravy basket in 2x3:

This episode began with Ed having a wobble, fearing "a storm's coming but I just can't see it", so the underlying unsettled vibe is already there for him. And as much as Stede wants to act like he has it all together, he has so much bottled up and suppressed and ready to explode unexpectedly.

So the lighting reflect an element of their fears that is still there, even if they're both acting like all is well. And then… aaaaaa! Ned Low attacks and the warmest colours, the reds, oranges, purples and pinks are gone.

With only yellow, greens and cool blues, the entire tone and vibe changes.

Green colour grading, especially tinted with with yellows and blues, is often used in media to represent villains and invoke a sense of trepidation or unease. Perfect examples of this are the hyenas marching in TLK, the Big Bads in the Ghostbusters films, when Neo is inside the Matrix:

So we've gone from a party that was all the colours of the rainbow to a space with sickly green lighting with cold tints through it. It's a visual cue our brains have had pointed at us for years and it gives the ship a deeply unsettling vibe, especially with Ned's reflective silvery colour palette.

Not to mention the fact Ned's entrance is lit by a green lantern. Green as a villain code is common, but also there's other colour symbolism happening here. Green is infamously the colour of envy and Ned is the embodiment of the green-eyed monster, come because someone took what he claimed as his.

Hell, even the way they colour-grade Ned in the cabin is subtly different from Ed and Stede. Those two still have a red undertone to their lighting, a warmth, but like Ned's outfit and hair, there's a coldness to the candlelight on his face.

All three are lit by flame/candles and yet different.

Even in a frame when all three are together, there's a kind of greyness to Ned's hue. Not massively, not something obvious, but enough to make him look just a bit uncanny next to two people with the flush of vitality. It fits with the vibe that he is rotting from the inside out.

And back out with the crew, it's still all yellow and green lighting but I especially love the cut to the moment when Ned is torturing Ed and the main colour there. We've seen Ed tinted in that colour before, only that time, he was torturing himself. Only this time, overlaid with sickly yellow.

But oh, what's this? A single red lantern has survived. And it's the one illuminating Stede when he's tied to the mast. One again, our man's lit in the colour that he was lit in during his trauma fever dream/mini-basket. His fears are being realised, just as they were then.

The fact that both Ed and Stede are lit in their trauma-nightmare colours is tasty enough, but then you add in the fact that there is also a shade of yellow overlaying both of them? Nom nom nom because yellow has form and history in the show, from all the way back in episode 1 of season 1.

Yellow is the colour of Stede's battle jacket that he wraps himself in when he has a panic attack. Ed wrap himself in it too. It's the colour of the pillow fort. It's the blanket Ed hides under at Anne and Mary's. It's the colour they surround themselves with when distressed.

Brief interlude to appreciate the sheer aesthetic frostiness of Ned :D Look at how they've lit and matched every bit of him so he's as fake and shiny as his silver painted suit and violin. All on the surface. All shimmer, no substance.

Am feeling things about this shot with the line "killing in cold blood, you can't come back from that". Man's all lit up in yellow while Ned cheerfully pokes at his fears and makes him doubt himself again, even more. He's never been good enough his whole life. What if he's not good enough now?

And the second Stede kills Ned, the lighting on Ed switches pretty much instantly from mostly blue shades to shades of yellow all over his face. Like Stede, Ed believes he ruins people and because of his actions, he's the one who brought Ned down on them and now, Stede has killed because of it.

Shout out to this shot for the juxtaposition of the yellow and blue.

And then Stede, in shock, having flashbacks to his worst day ever ("this is what a man's work looks like"), ends up shaded in yellow and green as he retreats to hide as he always does when he's upset. Scared and feeling sick 😭

There's probably more, but I am cold and sleepy and have work to get done.

But safe to say they do so much subtextual story telling purely through the lighting and I adore it 😍

While rehearsing for Carrie: The Musical, she was Chris Hargenssen while Spencer, her boyfriend at the time, was playing Tommy Ross, and during one rehearsal, she pulled the rope with the bucket (empty) and accidentally hit him in the back, he was okay, only a bruise for a few days (they broke up in january because he moved to Iowa)

The one sided feud with Kira started because she thought Y/N last name was weird and funny, until she found out who was her father

Sometimes when she doesn't have space in her room or closet, she uses her siblings room as storage room

Earthshot giving us a 6 episode documentary series about their winners narrated by Cate Blanchett or a 2-hour special about Cape Town and South Africa (and every Earthshot city) by David Attenborough or a local expert? A 30-minute travel program about Cornwall by the Duchy of Cornwall? 3-minute YouTube videos about their charities and patronages produced by the people who work there or who benefit from services posted ahead of their visits? William narrating a documentary about his homeless initiative in Cornwall? A summer exhibition in KP’s display hall of Kate’s dresses or a Kate-curated show of the Royal Collection or loans from her patronages?

Yes, yes, and yes!!!! William and Catherine really are the first gen of royals to belong wholly to the social media generation. They should use it’s global reach much more expansively and more expertly. 

For Catherine: yes to beekeeping lol! Show the children - during small, limited vignettes - helping her. Further though, she has a degree in Art History. The BRF/RCT has a priceless art collection, most of it largely unseen/unknown by the greater public. Pair these two gems together in some (“fun yet informative”) documentaries…even a series. Same for the BRF photo collection. The BRF has been photographed by iconic photographers…Cecil Beaton, Richard Avedon (D/Dss of Windsor lol), Annie Leibowitz, Mario Testino (those stunning Diana photos). Sure, some of it’s been done before, but let the people see these treasures again in an updated modern media presentation - interspersed/“edited” :) with pertinent film footage and interviews - and hosted by Catherine.

And not just the BRF art/photography treasures, but ditto for their fashion (an entire series in itself!), jewelry/tiaras (what exactly IS inside the Royal Vault, anyway, hiding unseen?), castles/palaces/homes (let’s see inside Balmoral, Sandringham, Kensington, Adelaide Cottage (limited access), Frogmore House - but minus Frog Cott…we already know what Soho House design looks like, although Frog Cott cemetery might be informative…), priceless antique furniture, properties/gardens, horse stables and animals, even their vehicles (rare carriages, automobiles, boats, aircraft)! How about a documentary on the Royal Ballet, hosted by Catherine and Charlotte, w footage included of Granny Diana at the RB? Each of these categories could easily fill an episode, presented by C. The catch, of course, would be to present all of this “to the people” in a way that doesn’t scream “let y'all eat cake!” but rather “this is yours, be proud of its beauty and history, which also is yours” ala Jackie Kennedy at the White House.

And separately from the above “fine arts” themes, yes, let’s also see much more in-depth coverage - by William and Catherine - of their charities and the bts work/progress involved, especially as related to Early Years research and work!

For William: yes to a documentary tour and inside look at the Duchy of Cornwall (that is much larger than just Cornwall lol)! William could pilot the helicopter - filmed up-close-and-personal inside the cockpit - as he takes us on the tour, with on-the-ground coverage as well, of course. And YES to expanded coverage of Earthshot and the ongoing progress of its winners (and nominees). Show the people what innovations Earthshot is catalyzing. This also has the built in advantage of appealing to youth, diversity/CW, and cutting edge climate change concerns….ie, the future. BTW tie in Earthshot with the Duchy of Cornwall and show us how the Duchy is incorporating climate change initiatives…organic farming, wind power, sustainability, re-planting, etc.

All of this could be widely and easily disseminated to a large, young, global audience both on social media/KP youtube and via media networks (ITV, BBC, etc.). Get busy, William and Catherine! Make your impending future reign a glorious one, a British Renaissance! (From an American fan with British ancestry)

Episode 5: WELCOME!

BTS continues to break records with Butter and Permission to Dance.

Whereas Dynamite was intended to be a feel good song for the fans during trying times, Butter was a little more intentional. BTS did not think they would release another single after Dynamite and the BE album but the pandemic was wearing on so out of many songs that they were sent to consider, they chose Butter. Namjoon rewrote most of the rap and the rest, as we keep saying, is history.

Butter broke Dynamite's Youtube premiere record of peak concurrent viewers with 3.9 million as well as other viewer number records.

Butter debuted at #1 on the BBHot100 and charted at #1 for 10 non-consecutive weeks. "Smooth like butter" became the catch-phrase of the summer of 2021.

And FINALLY, BTS heads to Los Angeles at the end of November 2021 for their first performances with a live audience. The world is still trying to emerge from all the covid restrictions but this is their chance. The U.S. has opened the doors and they go for it.

They will be one of the first artists to perform at the brand new SoFi stadium.

They are going to give it their all because things are still uncertain. Performing concerts with live audiences, being able to perform physically after such a long break and the fear or dread of NOT being able to perform again with an audience was the biggest thing weighing on them. Yoongi seemed optimistic and Namjoon said he hoped so but was afraid of having his feelings hurt again.

They realize their bodies are aging and that before the pandemic, as we know, they were driving their bodies into the ground physically with their grueling schedules.

It was 2 years between performances with a live audience – Love Yourself/Speak Yourself in Seoul, October 2019 to PTD LA, November 27, 2021.

Watching them prepare, as a group, for a major concert is awesome. These behind the scenes are very precious because they now know what it feels like to go through the motions of a live performance WITHOUT an audience.

The quality of their preparation and rehearsals increased. They had time to talk about the performance and production. They changed some things that they previously did during concerts. They said their energy levels were even higher than ever.

(PTD concert remix of Fire needs to be released this year. Just sayin.)

After they finally perform in front Army, they have mixed feelings. Relief, excitement, trepidation that this might be the last time. It was still a time when they didn't know if they'd get to perform again after PTD LA. One thing we learn is that they realized if they didn't get to perform once back in Seoul, that would be it for three years because of enlistment. Enlistment was the wall they faced every single day.

But as we know, the Seoul shows did go on in March 2022 and the Las Vegas shows in April and we also know how the rest of 2022 went.

We see them enjoying some free time in Los Angeles while in-between concerts, something they never got to do before. I think they made the free time a requirement when doing concerts. Their bodies needed to rest.

We see them win AOTY at the AMAs.

It is more serendipity because Namjoon mentioned a little bit before in this episode that he'd thought about quitting until he realized they belonged on that stage and knew that's what had to happen. Jin says the previous 2 years were a time for them to reorganize themselves and they were able to release Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance and reach even more overseas fans and make their concerts even more exciting.

Jungkook says they were not expecting to win AOTY at the AMAs. Winning Artist of the Year at the AMAs enabled them to view it as yet another door opening to their future.

Holding sold out concerts in huge stadiums, performing at the top of their game, winning huge awards at western award shows, these things legitimized them being asked to represent their country at the UN and other global and international diplomatic conferences.

I know... they were asked to do this BEFORE they won the Artist of the Year at the AMAs, and BEFORE the PTD shows, and it is because of what they'd accomplished before those things, but it further drives the point home that BTS will continue in the future to be a big player in the music industry worldwide and they already know this.

Jungkook says they aren't sure what the future holds yet but ignoring what's happened is not an option.

Tae says they want to remain the artists who impart a positive influence.

They have finally realized what their purpose is and they are realizing the influence they wield.

It being said Buck and T*mmy are still dating and getting to know each other, and Eddie feeling left out is all well and good. It’s at the least a decent start to developing something (not that I want that anymore, but still).

However, couple those words with L*u FJ having not been seen on set at all… I don’t know how much of it I’m believing will stretch behind the first three episodes. I’m not trying to give Tim credit for being sneaky or anything, and I’m still not looking to watch the premiere. I’m going to hold off, but how far under the radar can they truly fly with his filming, and why would they want to, given Buck is openly bisexual and there was a positive reaction to the relationship even with Buddies being unhappy?

There’s no reason for me to believe L*u is so beloved by Tim and ABC that they’re sneaking him on and off set. I’m not saying he can’t have “snuck” on once or twice, but again… for what reason? No one in the cast is talking about him, the behind the scenes hadn’t really posted him, and no one has spotted him on set. So how well can the relationship be going if the actor playing Buck’s boyfriend has not been seen, heard, nor mentioned anywhere near the show this season?

The only way this supposed developing relationship keeps going, is if it’s over the phone or we get it in slices where T*mmy is never actually present. As in, Buck tells Eddie he’s meeting up with T*mmy, yet we never see them together. Or we see Oliver sharing the screen with a stand-in, and we only get arial shots of them.

I guess they could always be indoors. In a car or something, but idk. Something is very fishy. Tim and co either managed to slip that man on and off set for weeks, or they’re talking around a quick breakup. Because “getting to know each other” and “not much time has passed” equals Buck and T*mmy don’t know each other enough to have developed a deep connection. Which allows writers to write both an attempt for Buck to make it work and a breakup within the first 3-5 episodes without making the general audience feel like it ended abruptly or was pointless.

Buddie may not happen even if Eddie comes out this season, but if they do want to get rid of T*mmy, I will admit I can see them doing it this way. It would avoid starting the season with Buck being single yet again (which truly would not be an issue if they didn’t try shoving him with a woman every damn season in earlier seasons), but also give BT stans a little food. Make Buck try and want it to work, but ultimately have it fail. That also tells general audiences who are neutral about him “suddenly” being “gay” that he is serious about wanting to date men, but couldn’t make it work with the first one he dated.

Whether or not Buddie will be a result? I don’t know, but I can’t say I’m on team hopeful, lol. I think this is the last shot, and unless they cast partners for Buck and Eddie that knock it out of the fucking park in terms of chemistry, I do not see s8 being the place to start anew yet again. So Buddie really and truly makes the most sense if Buck and T*mmy breakup and Eddie comes out. Main characters getting together is tv normalcy.

There isn’t a single show or film in history where the mains don’t end up together, that’s why they’re mains. And if they wanted an outside relationship, T*mmy unfortunately is the only other choice outside of Josh, because he’s already here. So they either gotta make T*mmy worth the choice to not have Buddie, or they make Buck single and have Josh and Eddie randomly get together. Which would lows be just as unnecessary as BT, but at least Josh is likable.

Anyway, that’s my 5¢. They’re either setting BT up to be roadkill, or they did somehow manage to sneak that man on set for weeks, thus cementing the implication he will become an important character. Because again, there is no reason a recurring love interest is important enough to hide on set, just because he’s unliked by some fans. They didn’t do that with Edy, and people wanted her head on a fucking spike.

ok i'm bored so let's lock in some theories

somewhere in episodes 4-6: i think the bt issues are gonna come up somewhere around here, and they're gonna be dealing with something either a) gerrard related, or b) related to buck's past as a player + his questionable behavior with taylor, but i think (a) is more likely. with (a) i imagine they could add in some manufactured t*mmy backstory with gerrard to frame him as a victim and frame gerrard as his "father figure" in the way that bobby is buck's. and i'm almost sure they're gonna do their damnest to NOT bring up anything related to his or gerrard's racism/sexism. if they focus on the bigotry aspect of it at all (which i'm not really sure they will tbh) it's probably gonna be homophobia-focused. if they don't focus on the bigotry at all and just focus on gerrard being a bad boss, i think there's more of a possibility that they'll actually frame t*mmy as being the one causing problems, which does line up more with how oliver was talking about everything related to their issues this season and how it seems like they're gonna genuinely consider breaking up with each other over this, although i don't think they will in the end (at least not yet).

with (b) they could do a bit of a callback to early s7 with the buck's player history stuff, combined with t*mmy finding out about how he cheated on taylor then subsequently asked her to move in and how their relationship has kind of been mirroring that one. honestly not sure how they'd tie this into anything other than maybe getting into buck's insecurities in relationships, so i think (a) is lot more likely, but i also think this is still possible.

i also think somewhere around when this is happening, eddie's gonna be having his own separate storyline about go to church to seek 'forgiveness", which will hopefully end in him being able to forgive himself and stop ruminating in his own guilt and punishing himself every time he fucks up. maybe he'll finally get to yell at his parents and tell them he deserves better :)

episode 5: this sounds like it's gonna be a funny kind of ridiculous episode for buck with a little seriousness sprinkled in, and seems to point to the gerrard stuff that happens after he recovers. i think buck's gonna spend episodes 2-4 feeling super guilty while gerrard's in the hospital (possible callback to s7 where buck didn't know whether he meant to hurt eddie), then gerrard is gonna be recovered in episode 5. then my guess is that gerrard's gonna start trying to be super buddy-buddy with buck, which on one hand is gonna satisfy buck's need to be liked and issues with authority, but on the other hand is gonna put him in a weird spot with the rest of the 118 now that he's being obviously favored and doesn't know how to react to that. if they were smart this is where they'd bring up the racism/sexism of it all, but i still think they're resolutely not gonna touch on any of the bigotry given the fact that this episode is supposed to be so funny. so i think it's mainly gonna be an authority issues + selfish need to be liked sort of thing.

also i think it's possible eddie won't be in this episode given the shaving timing of it all

episode 6: for buck, this is probably gonna be a continuation of whatever his story was in episode 5, so, again, gerrard related. with josh being seemingly heavily involved in buck and maddie's conversation, my guess is that it's either a) homophobia + t*mmy related (but again, i think it's unlikely) or b) authority-issues related, which could make sense given we've been seeing josh navigating being a boss to people as well, so ig he could provide a different perspective there. or that conversation could have nothing to do with buck and be related to a maddie storyline, who knows.

they also said this is gonna be a big episode for eddie, although i don't think it's gonna be a big episode for buddie. i'm pretty sure eddie shaves his mustache in this episode so we'll be getting some focus on that. my guess is that it has something to do his feelings about being a father and the whole "i'm broken" thing from s7, which will probably tie into eddie's whole church thing. i'm very doubtful that it will have anything to do with his sexuality (at least directly, could be indirectly implied/foreshadowed)

჻ While for the first weekend the girls had sent everyone into delirium with their interactions, for the second they literally made their mark on kpop history

჻ In fact, they gave birth to the very first collaboration between BTS and Blackpink

As soon as she emerged from behind the two huge pink feather fans that had hidden her from the public up to that point, she could see the crowd in front of her going wild. The screams of the fans so loud that they almost covered the music that echoed and shook meters and meters of the ground where the festival was taking place.

"Cause I'm that girl that drive you crazy, but you can't leave me alone. Got you thinkin' maybe I went supernatural Put you under spells or look into a crystal ball I'm not like these other girls at all"

"Coachella, are you seeing this? We've got a very special guest with us tonight. She's part of the BTS family, but tonight she's one of us. So give it up for Chaeri!" Jennie screamed to the crowd, setting aside for a moment the next verses of the song.

The fans went wild once again, the screams getting even louder as Chaeri took the center stage, twirling around and joining the other four girls in synchrony. They looked like a perfect unit, like they had been rehearsing together for years. Every move was timed to perfection, every step in sync with the beat.

When the song reached its crescendo, the crowd erupted with thunderous applause. Chaeri and the girls, their faces beaming with elation, gave a triumphant bow that seemed to linger in the air.

Chaeri's cheeks were flushed, her eyes sparkling with emotion, as she stepped forward and addressed the audience. "I just want to say," her voice carried over the applause, "these girls right here are some of the most amazing people I've ever met. During this song, I was in awe of their talent and dedication. I feel so blessed to have been able to join them on stage. Thank you for including me in this!"

"What? One more song?" Lisa cupped a hand around her ear, leaning more toward the fans in a theatrical gesture, "Let us hear how hard you want one more song!"

The mass pulled out all the stops to show their approval, clapping, shouting, stamping their feet

"I can't fucking hear you Coachella!" Chaeri riled up the fans even more, the adrenaline of being by her friends' side rising higher every second.

She didn't know she could hear so much noise despite the in-ears in her ears, yet her eardrums vibrated in fury from the screams that rumbled around

For Bruno I chose a breed from Italy, "The Spino degli Iblei "

Info about the breed:

(A lot of livestock/herding breeds share common traits with Bruno, which made it hard narrowing it down~ lol very hard working dogs, loyal, serious about what they do a bit stubborn but also loving towards their pack. Good leadership skills in regards to the flock/livestock. The other breed I was considering was the "Sila Shepherd".)

(Couldn't choose between these two so I put both. Carolina Dog because my s/I isn't too sure about others intentions and only truly expresses/trust herself to those closest to her. Boston Terrier is her personality when she opens up! Sweet, friendly, etc. Also I think Bruno and my s/i both share the Carolina dog's pack mentality. Also the Carolina dog could be considered as a sort of bridge between their personalities.)

As someone who actually followed Ryan and Oliver before, they came to 911 and was excited to see how quickly they bonded. Then I fell in love with them both even more. I am curious if you would agree with me on something.

My thing is, I actually think they were probably both disappointed if that's how their storylines ended. Again, having seen their prior work, 911 , to this moment, is still their defining work, and had it really been canceled, it could have served as a launching pad for their next gig. They could have potentially walked away, having played a groundbreaking queer couple for all the reasons you always stated. To make it even better playing against someone who you were completely comfortable with. I mean , that would have plastered them all over the place. Yet.... It would have ended like that? I just feel like there had to have been some level of disappointment for them. Or am I being to dramatic?

Hi lovely! Oooh, nice, I bet you can feel so proud of yourself, having an eye for talent that early on. ;) I hadn't heard of Oliver before 911, I did hear of Ryan because he landed a coveted part starring opposite Jennifer Lopez, but not much more than that.

I really loved what we saw of Oliver and Ryan BTS during s2, so I get exactly what you mean. And yes, I do think they wanted Buddie to go canon. It was evident to me from the moment they were the ones to choose our ship's name. I think they have both been around the entertainment business long enough to know that Buddie going canon would have given them both a boost in popularity, plus it would have made them a part of a significant TV moment. Being an actor is HARD. Finding a STEADY job is HARDER. Finding a GOOD steady acting job is HARDER STILL. But finding one that is also going to go down in TV history, make a difference, push the bar in terms of queer rep and be remembered even after the show is over? Possibly also helping them be recognized in the years that follow 911 going off the air, when they look for their next good acting job? Yeah, I think they understood this would have been meaningful and really good for them.

Are they disappointed? I think understanding that they're still among the lucky ones when there are so many struggling actors out there might help curb any disappointment. It's also a different thing when a realization gradually sets in than when it lands on you like a slap in the face. But most importantly, thanks to ABC, it's not over just yet. So hopefully, we will all still get to be a part of this historical gay TV moment, they as actors and we as viewers.

Did everyone who watched Charlie and the chocolate factory as a kid get nightmares from at least ONE scene, but everyone from completely different scenes? Because I discussed this with my friends.

One of my friends got super scared of the squirrel scene. She spent time being afraid real squirrels would attack her.

One of my friends chewed gum the first time she saw Violet's demise and got very scared from that.

Several people have claimed they need to close their eyes during Wonka's welcome song due to the uncanny dolls that burn up and lose their eyes (the doll whose eyes pop out did always make me uncomfy tbh)

I know one person being scared about the glass elevator and have been having nightmares about being stuck in it and it drops to the ground.

Then... there is me. Watched this movie for the first time at the ripe old age of 4, an age where children still have a hard time separating reality and imagination. We rented this movie from the library thinking "ooh! They're going to a candy land!! How fun!!"

I thought the opening was a little eerie with the camera going inside a pipe, and the burning dolls were a bit uncanny, but it didn't bother me too much.

And then... Augustus falls into the river. I immediately feel very uneasy. He gets sucked up the pipe. It looks so uncomfortable. I feel so bad for him. And then, the camera decides to have a CLOSE-UP SHOT OF HIM IN THE PIPE. THIS CLOSE UP SHOT IS THE REASON FOR ALL OF MY NIGHTMARES.

It would be one thing if it was just a 2 second close-up shot, but NOPE. They CUT BACK to this very close-up shot SEVERAL TIMES, and EVERY TIME I get jumpscared.

The rest of the movie is absolutely fine, but this one scene took a big toll on 4 year old me. But, being so young, as you probably now, you wanna watch movies over and over again. And I wanted to watch this movie again, and again, and again... but every time this scene came, I ran out of the room and hid. I couldn't do it. I didn't care that the song was a banger, I couldn't watch it, due to that close-up shot constantly showing up.

Then when I was 9, I started getting interested in searching up everything catcf, and I loved watching clips of it online and hearing bts information about it, and watching people play the games they released of it. And I literally had to COVER MY HAND on thumbnails on youtube, in case any of them would have Augustus in the pipe on it. This is still a problem I have today. It doesn't matter how many times I see it, I may stare at it and stop being scared, but the next time I see it I will be jumpscared again. When I watch video essays of catcf, I can't watch the video in case it shows up, and have to rely on just listening. It's a curse, I'm genuinely interested in catcf, not only this movie but also the book and the history behind it, and yet every time I look for content online I have to cover one hand when scrolling in case someone decides on the bright idea to have the close-up shot of chocolate-covered Augustus in the pipe as a thumbnail.

Me and my friends talked about how we all loved the movie as kids and we all wanted to watch it all the time, almost breaking our dvds because we watched it so much. And yet we all had one scene that just scared us. Some closed their eyes during the dolls singing Wonka's welcome song. Some closed their eyes during the squirrel attack. Some closed their eyes during Violet's blueberry transformation. And some were like me, and closed their eyes on Augustus going up the pipe.

It's a shame the Augustus Gloop song is such a banger. I want to see the Oompa Loompas bust a move watching the drowning boy. But I need to close my eyes, because in-between their dance moves they suddenly cut to the goddamn close-up shot that makes my heart stop.

But I have also met people who found nothing in this movie scary.

So I know the S19 cast are really going through it and it must be tough knowing the show could potentially be over forever. But c'mon they're not helping any by not even trying to give fans BTS. At least something!? I'm not being insensitive here but it's kinda ridiculous that there's absolutely nothing from anyone.

Stefania tried in the beginning but then stopped immediately after the announcement.

Jaina tried abit but tbh the Marina Fandom can sometimes be abit mean to her. Which is insane cos she seems like such an awesome person and her podcast is super funny and entertaining.

Danielle isn't doing anything. Idk she seems over everything. Perhaps she doesn't want to carry the load of promoting the show anymore. She really only posts stuff about her and Kevin and her besties kid. So that ship has sailed awhile ago it seems.

Overall if ABC is not going to do much promoting and the cast isn't going to do any BTS and social media stuff... the Fandom will eventually get exhausted.

What is with this revisionist history when it comes to Jaina and the Marina fandom with people...all of a sudden everyone is ready to defend her and love her as if things have changed....she has never been supportive of Marina and as soon as they got popular she stopped acknowledging them completely. She clearly has her issues with Danielle (which makes it even more confusing that these so called Danielle fans are suddenly all about Jaina), only acknowledges Stefania when it's convenient for her, barely interacts with fans or promotes the show she's a lead on, has yet to acknowledge that said fans are trying to save the show that again, she's the lead on...I have truly never seen a lead act like she does and somehow she gets excused for it and it's all blamed on Marina fans when she's hardly been professional about things.

How are you going to say Danielle seems over everything? She was literally in tears at the convention just a month ago when it was brought up that the show could be ending. She was the first to speak publicly like that about fighting to save the show. She actually does not post Kevin and hasn't really posted him in months so I don't know where you're getting that from...it's not her fault that people in this fandom are creepers and find stuff from whatever they do over the holidays together and decide to post it.

Apologies in advance for the monster ask. This got typed out because after watching that clip of old Bangtan ganging up on Jimin, I'm struggling right now to think of any time - just any time in these past 10 years where Tae has done anything positive for Jimin.

Jimin says Yoongi helped him out in those initial days and helps him even today in his music and I guess I'll take his word for it even if I don't think Yoongi probably did much. Plus he's 'made' songs for Jimin even if he probably had his own motives for wanting the most popular member to sing his songs.

Hobi can be insensitive at times but at present we're all well aware that he's probably Jimin's best support from the group. RM had his ego hit in chap 2 because of Jimin but putting that aside he has always had a high opinion of Jimin which he shares to army (which atleast counters the other negative bs narratives people like tkkrs make about Jimin) plus I do appreciate his work helping Jimin with Promise (and Serendipity to a lesser extent)

I know we're all sour on JK (rightfully), he's not the greatest friend (to anyone) and he's acted like an ass to Jimin in the past but they still have good bits of history too. The Tokyo trip and it's importance based on the way they talked about it their book. The way he used to massage Jimin's shoulders when his chronic pain would flare up. And JK has tried to make up for being an ass to Jimin. Years after those rankings he tried to do a redo and rank Jimin #1, after the UN speech when they all ganged up on Jimin /again/, at least this time he spoke up defending Jimin and in festa he mentioned that the thing he regretted most was his behaviour that led to the rainy day fight (so presumably he regrets the way he used to treat Jimin). I'm not making excuses but at least that's something.

As for Jin and Jimin, they have fun and hang out but they don't have emotional intimacy on camera but they seem fine with each other. Not really coming up with anything but Jin doesn't actively target Jimin for anything so there's nothing to make up for either I guess.

And we know Jimin acts as an amazing friend to all of these guys in return. For ex. with Tae, Jimin is always there to comfort him in his times of need and yet is there any instance of reciprocity in all these years?

Friendship isn't transactional but it isn't good if it's unbalanced. Jimin has talked about how every member has helped him out but anything related to Tae has come from Tae's mouth. He talks about how much he loves Jimin or about how the management asked him what he thought about Jimin and he held it up as if he singlehandedly got Jimin into BTS with his comments (yeah right 🙄). But where is the action? Where is the acknowledgement from Jimin? I'm sincerely blanking on anything apart from introducing Jimin to his friends at school (is that big enough to even warrant a mention?) On the other hand, we constantly see him trying to undermine Jimin even now. Jimin tried to put out something by saying yeah people don't know how much Tae helps me back but could give no further info. Jimin is the same guy who always pinpoints when people help him out, and yet he was totally blanking (like me) to think of anyway Tae has returned that.

I can't believe these are the presumed soulmates of BTS. Their relationship has always been give and take or more specifically Jimin gives and Tae takes and takes.

I completely agree. Taehyung just talks about how much he loves jimin but when it's time to actually be there for him, he's nowhere to be found.

Hoseok have been weird too sometimes in the past but they were teenagers. Now that they have grown up hoseok has always been supportive of jimin. If anything he seems like jimin's real friend in the group.

Though I hope jimin has good friends outside of bts.

And with vmin all that soulmate thing is bullshit. Tae is only real friends with wooga. I feel like he prefers wooga because he's the youngest so he's kind of the centre of attention most of the time and they baby him unlike bts so he probably likes wooga more. Tae seems that kind of person to me ngl.
