First acts as monarchs:

Reasons for support:

Viserys declared his daughter, Rhaenyra, to be his rightful heir, and named her Princess of Dragonstone. In a lavish ceremony at King’s Landing, hundreds of lords did obeisance to the Realm’s Delight as she sat at her father’s feet at the base of the Iron Throne, swearing to honor and defend her right of succession. “Thrice have mine own kin sought to replace me,” Lady Jeyne told Prince Jacaerys. “My cousin Ser Arnold is wont to say that women are too soft to rule. I have him in one of my sky cells, if you would like to ask him. Your Prince Daemon used his first wife most cruelly, it is true…but notwithstanding your mother’s poor taste in consorts, she remains our rightful queen, and mine own blood besides, an Arryn on her mother’s side. In this world of men, we women must band together. The Vale and its knights shall stand with her…if Her Grace will grant me one request.” “King,” insisted Queen Alicent. “The Iron Throne by rights mustpass to His Grace’s eldest trueborn son. Rhaenyra had taken House Baratheon for granted for too long, his lordship told Aemond. “Aye, Princess Rhaenys is kin to me and mine, some great-aunt I never knew was married to her father, but the both of them are dead, and Rhaenyra…she’s not Rhaenys, is she?” He had nothing against women, Lord Borros went on to say; he loved his girls, a daughter is a precious thing…but a son, ahhh…should the gods ever grant him a son of his own blood, Storm’s End would pass to him, not to his sisters. “Why should the Iron Throne be any different?”

Love for remaining children:

She could not sleep and would not eat. Nor would she suffer to be parted from Prince Aegon, her last living son; day and night, the boy remained by her side, “like a small pale shadow.” The old man’s words fell upon deaf ears, however. Queen Alicent had reluctantly agreed to the betrothal of her granddaughter to Rhaenyra’s son, but she had done so without the king’s consent. Aegon II had other ideas. He wished to marry Cassandra Baratheon at once, for “she will give me strong sons, worthy of the Iron Throne.”

Queen Rhaenyra had believed herself victorious after taking King’s Landing, the northman said, and Aegon II thought that he had ended the war by feeding his sister to a dragon. Yet queen’s men had remained, even after the queen herself was dead, and “Aegon is reduced to bones and ashes.”

Review:

Royal alchemist Kaethe is on a mission to find her brother whom she was separated from after their parents were killed by raiding orcs. She has to keep her mission a secret because she is traveling into dangerous lands and what she least expects is to find herself being saved by an orc general and taken to his village where he has been secretly protecting humans.... but he has his own secrets that could unravel everything. Bazur is the General of the Black Claw Clan, he is one of the strongest orcs and has been secretly protecting all the humans and orcs in his village while complying with the king of orcs.... who had murdered his own family. Bazur is going to do anything to protect his village but when a bright haired gorgeous human lands in front of him he can’t help but want to help her. But both Kaethe and Bazur have their own secrets but their is a pool between them that they can’t deny. Can they find a way to trust one another or will their secrets destroy any chance of a relationship before they even have one? This was the spinoff to the first book and you do get to see the original couple in this one. Though you don’t have to read it in order, it’s much more enjoyable if you do. I liked the relationship between Bazur and Kaethe because they both want to make sure the other is happy and being helped but at the same time they both have their own issues to deal with. Their chemistry was great and I honestly had such a fun time with this one.

Fire and Blood: Rhaenyra’s wedding

How the scene depicted in the book:

“The wedding was celebrated with seven days of feasts and jousting, the greatest tourney in many a year. Amongst the competitors were Queen Alicent’s siblings, five Sworn Brothers of the Kingsguard, Breakbones, and the groom’s favorite, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth, known as the knight of Kisses. When Rhaenyra bestowed her garter on Ser Harwin, her new husband laughed and gave one of his own to Ser Joffrey. Denied Rhaenyra’s favor, Criston Cole turned to Queen Alicent instead. Wearing her token, the young Lord Commander of the Kingsguard defeated all challengers, fighting in a black fury. He left Breakbones with a broken collarbone and a shattered elbow (prompting Mushroom to name him “Brokenbones” thereafter), but it was the Knight of Kisses who felt the fullest measure of his wroth. Cole’s favorite weapon was the morningstar, and the blows her rained down on Ser Laenor’s champion cracked his helm and left him senseless in the mud. Borne bloody from the field, Ser Joffrey died without recovering consciousness six days without recovering consciousness six days later. Mushroom tells us that Ser Laenor spend every hour of those days at his bedside and wept bitterly when the Stranger claimed him.

A bit disappointed that the fight scene in the tv show with Ser Criston Cole and Ser Joffrey took place during a feast celebration. It would make much more sense if it were to take place on a tourney ground rather a feast brawl.

How the hell does Ser Criston escapes justice with all the witness around them. He just plainly commits murder in front of all the lords and ladies. If the scene were to take place on a tourney, it would make sense given how people occasionally die during a tourney. 

Tv Show Ser Criston beats up Ser Joffrey just because of a heart break.  The book version is ten time better.

Alysanne Blackwood and Cregan Stark Lord Corlys was spared a trial by the machinations of Baela and Rhaena Targaryen, who convinced Aegon to issue an edict restoring to him his offices and honors, then by Black Aly Blackwood when she gave Lord Stark her hand in marriage in return for the boon of allowing Aegon’s edict to stand.

Joffrey Lonmouth and Laenor Velaryon He shattered Breakbone’s collarbone and elbow, leading Mushroom to dub him Brokenbones, but the worst injuries he meted out were to Laenor’s favorite, the handsome knight Ser Joffrey Lonmouth, who was called the Knight of Kisses. Ser Joffrey was borne from the field senseless and bloody, and lingered for six days before dying, leaving Laenor to weep bitter tears of grief.

Mors Martell and Nymeria But Mors Martell, the Lord of the Sandship, saw in the newcomers an opportunity … and if the singers can be believed, his lordship also lost his heart to Nymeria, the fierce and beautiful warrior queen who had led her people across the world to keep them free.

The Second Quarrel, however, is of note, as it was due to Jaehaerys’s decision in 92 AC to pass over his granddaughter Rhaenys— the daughter of his deceased eldest son and heir, Prince Aemon— in favor of bestowing Dragonstone and the place of heir apparent on his next eldest son, Baelon the Brave. Alysanne saw no reason why a man should be favored over a woman … and if Jaehaerys thought women of less use, then he would have no need of her. They reconciled in time, but the Old King outlived his beloved queen, and in his last years it was said that the grief of their parting hung over his court like a pall.

Jaehaerys II and Shaera Targaryen Though King Aegon had acquired a distaste for the Valyrian custom of incestuous marriage during his years amongst the smallfolk, Prince Jaehaerys was of a more traditional bent, for from a very early age he had loved his sister Shaera and dreamed of wedding her in the old Targaryen fashion. Once aware of his desires, King Aegon and Queen Betha had done their best to separate the two, yet somehow distance only seemed to inflame the mutual passion of this prince and princess.
