IMPORTANT LORE for the Abattoirs magic workings! This is the avenue through which those in divine service can attain their all cool magic-y stuff AND more. All this found below the cut!

So basically while magic can be attained and harnessed by an individual since all life is inherently 'magic' in this setting. You need to be taught the method of accessing this ability. Which due to the multiple apocali the world has gone through at this point, this knowledge is pretty much dead. Only those old enough to remember (ie the godly worms of the abattoirs) or those lucky enough to figure it out (certain dragons) can practice individual magic!

All those who operate in service of the gods are working under a NEW system. A funner system! This one involves the end user manipulating the magic gifted to them by their godly worms. Starting with ingesting a small amount of their flesh and soul, followers can use this dedicated portion of the gods to sort of have them cast on demand. So if one wants to manipulate the flesh of their own body, the fleshmancing meat within them knows what to do without bothering the main body. The magic they can perform is very limited though, typically to just the body that the god flesh is housed within. And there are draw backs!

The biggest one is that the flesh of gods is malignant in nature. When ingested the desired outcome is for the stomach of the newly anointed to be devoured and replaced. This is NOT the norm though. More often than not they will be fully consumed from the inside out! The gods hunger is innate to their very existence, so they can only retain their rational thinking at a certain critical mass of meat. This only applies to our flesh worm though, soul worm is a lot more restrained thankfully. When you have issues on her end you just get booted from your body before things get crazy. So most of the time the flesh wont settle and will just consume all it can!

Now that isn't to say once your stomach is settled you're homefree. Lest we forget these worms are HUNGRY. You need to keep this flesh fed because it is going to eat no matter what. Specifically it craves human flesh because of course it does. It will eat animal and plant matter at well but it's kind of like trying to live off water. Nothing of substance there. Never forget you are made of its favorite food! All it wants is to eat you and make a giant worm from as much meat as it can gather. Which factors into a big plot line during the god's absence.

But as long as you get your meals down then there shouldn't be any issues!
