Lance one time did not speak to another person for over 10 days

there are days when red would shut down and not listen to Lance if the castle or the paladins are not in immediate danger.

Lance forgets what his grandma looks like after he uses the group exercise machine. He puts it on and realizes the picture of his grandmother comes up blurry.

Lance secretly never gives up in piloting the black lion and at times still tries when he knows no one is watching.

Also Shen Jiu is always like, one wrong move from tearing the throat of any nearby Alpha out of their bodies

Oh the disciples love Shen Yuan, and in return Shen Yuan adores the disciples. Shen Jiu is constantly rolling his eyes and telling him that he coddles the children too much but Shen Yuan just gives him a sweet smile, unhidden by one of his stolen fans that he seems to like so much, and tells him someone has to if he won’t.

Shen Jiu is more willing to accept Shen Yuan spoiling his students after the first time he hears one of them call his A-Yuan shimu. Well he is after he dragged Shen Yuan back to their home and showed him exactly what he thought of his students thinking Shen Yuan as his wife did to him. (If he himself starts to treat his students a little more gently so Shen Yuan doesn’t frown at him and sleep in the spare room then that is his business and anyone stupid enough to say anything about it frankly deserves what he does to them)

Shen Jiu is always willing to murder any alpha. At all times. This man would tear an alpha’s throat out with his teeth if given the slightest reason… which is unfortunate for his martial siblings who are mostly alphas. His is however incredibly protective over other omegas, particularly his disciples. He and Qi Qingqi have an understanding when it comes to new omegas and by understanding I mean they will go to war over claiming them as their disciples but will team up if it means one of the alpha peak lords not getting them.

He has even growled at an alpha on Shang Qinghua’s behalf and to this day neither of them will admit it ever happened.

okay I’m thinking about it being the Island Sanctuary—especially the sanctuary part. here is Tataru who watched you tentatively walk into the waking sands. probably did all the paperwork to get you settled in with the scions. watched with bated breath as adventure after adventure swept you up in its path. Carried you to greater and greater heights and watched you grow. Watched you take on all these burdens out of love and duty.

How through all of that she probably still thinks back to you so fresh faced and walking through those doors. how much she loves how far you’ve grown, but is so scared of how hard it’s been. She can only do so much to help; she’s just a simple girl—she knows money, politics and how to sew. she cannot do fantastical things.

So she does what she does best and she comes away with a whole island. just for you. a place all to your own—to do with as you please. A place to rest. A sanctuary. far far away from the stress of life. because god if she doesn’t think about that baby faced adventurer who came through her doors so very very long ago

The two timelines structure of yellowjackets is so interesting as a story device because we find out that despite appearances the adults are still very much in the same places that they were to begin with in the teen timelines. They are all marked and stunted by the trauma they underwent and none of them fully moved forward in their development. So then the challenge becomes; how do we give their teen selves enough dimension and development to be interesting and realistic while finding some way of circling back and keeping them in this state of arrested development as adults, without there being an unrealistic disconnect between where they are as teens and adults.
