as part of the getting-worse-before-it-gets-better portion of aziraphale and crowley's season 3 relationship arc we NEED a desperate "i love you" from aziraphale met with a hissed, spiteful, and quickly regretted "i forgive you" from crowley

I think David’s reaction to Michael in sleeve garters would be a stream of Crowley noises. And then probably something x rated. Joking aside, given that we know David brought a costume home and Michael used something of his for part of another costume, they’re clearly happy to blur the lines with their characters and I’m ridiculously happy at the thought he might have stolen this idea from Crowley.
Oh, Anon. I have had an unbearably exhausting couple of days this past week due to family-related issues (which is why I haven't been posting on here much), and I love everything about this.
Well, let's first get a picture of Michael in those sleeve garters up here again, because you can never really see it too many times...
Tumblr media
"A stream of Crowley noises" probably describes the sound that most of us made seeing Michael in this new video with those sleeve garters...and yet coming from David, I think it would definitely be something special and just uniquely him. And just as we know Michael has more than appreciated David in his sparkly suits and recent flamboyant fashions (notably, the kilt at the 2024 BAFTAs), I have no doubt David would just as thoroughly appreciate Michael in those sleeve garters. Maybe a bit like this, if he'd been on that couch next to him...
Tumblr media
As to the rest of what you said, absolutely yes to the blurring of the lines. I think that's something Michael has been doing since 2019, is constantly and consistently blurring the line between him and Aziraphale (saying he doesn't know where the character began and Michael ended, using "I" and "we" to refer to Aziraphale and Crowley in the first person instead of third person, and so many other examples). And now David is doing the same, is taking bits and pieces of Crowley for himself, but also putting much more of himself into Crowley.
Thinking of Michael stealing the idea from Crowley, so many things come to mind--that he loved seeing David in the garters and complimented him on how good they looked; that while he's bemoaned the lack of costume changes for Aziraphale in the past, we now know of at least two instances of Aziraphale being in disguise, and maybe some of the process that went into that was inspired by David/Crowley; and that seeing David/Crowley in the sleeve garters has inspired Michael to get back to making more daring fashion choices of his own.
The clothes/costumes also feel like an externalized representation of what has happened with them on the inside (especially over the last few years)--that Michael and David are willfully and happily blurring the lines between themselves and Aziraphale/Crowley, both when it comes to them as individual characters, and when it comes to the relationship they have with each other. And I just really, really love that.
So thank you for this, Anon. You've given me something delightful to think about. I also hope Michael stole this idea from Crowley, and I hope that one day we might actually get to find out for sure...

The fact that the reason crowley and aziraphale have such awful communication skills and never talk about their feelings for eachother is because for the past 6,000 years thats how it HAD to be. If Heaven and/or Hell found out that they were even friends it would risk their very existence. So they had to be very careful to keep eachother at a distance for fear of getting too close, too obvious, and letting their respective head offices take notice. They had to pretend they didnt care because it was the only way they could stay in eachothers’ lives safely.
And even though they dont really have to worry as much about that anymore, how do erase 6,000 years of training yourself not too get too obvious about your feelings? 6,000 years of fear and adherence to those rules? And if the opportunity were to finally arise to change the rules, how could you say no?

May I propose: David Tennant and Michael Sheen in Rosencranz and Guildenstern are Dead
Their patter would be amazing and also Michael Sheen would find some way to make it gay

aziraphale and crowley CAN’T turn human at the end of s3 because where the fuck would they go when they die? crowley’s definitely not going to heaven, aziraphale’s not going to hell, and i’m sure by the end of s3 neither of them will want to return to hell (crowley) or heaven (aziraphale), so
1. they’d be split up when they die (presumably)
2. where the fuck would they go after death?
would they lose all memory of ever being an angel & a demon and only remember the important parts of their 6,000 year long lives as little bits of their human lives? then would heaven/hell accept them once they die? but they’d still be split up, probably (crowley’s really not as bad as he likes to think, though, so maybe he has a chance at heaven? but they’d probably recognize him, even if he doesn’t recognize them). i don’t WANT them to lose their memory of the last 6,000 years though, i feel like nobody wants that, so what would the purpose of turning them human even be? they wouldn’t be allowed to be together for the rest of eternity, there’s a chance their memories of their lives will be altered, and when they die, they probably won’t even be together, so where’s the happy ending in that? the happy ending would feel.. temporary? because we’d KNOW they’re going to die, and we wouldn’t know where they’d be GOING if they do.

In season 2 we see Crowley introduce the pleasure of food to Aziraphale.
What if in season 3 it's reversed and we see that it's Aziraphale who introduces the pleasure of affection to a somewhat reluctant Crowley? I know Crowley was the one who kissed Aziraphale first, but the kiss was a last ditch attempt to communicate, not a gesture of intimacy. What if after their reconciliation Aziraphale is the one who not only gives Crowley his first tender kiss, but also gently guides Crowley into intimacy beyond kissing? I don't know if Aziraphale has ever been with another person before, in fact I highly doubt it, but as a being of love affection would come to him naturally. He could be the one to ease Crowley into hugging, cuddling, and gentle touches. Crowley, as a despised tool of satan, is definitely not inclined to tenderness the way Aziraphale is, and in an interview David once said that Crowley finds affection laughable. I think Crowley might tense up the first time they truly embrace one another, but Aziraphale would show him that it actually feels good to be soft.
The more I think about it the more inclined I am to believe this is going to be the case. Aziraphale is the one who needs to bridge the gap between them, anyway.

*wakes up in cold sweat from a hundred years long nap* Aziraphale's 1941 love realisation was a LITERAL BOMB FALLING ON HIS HEAD FROM THE SKY that he was forced to MIRACULOUSLY SHIELD THEM FROM and they both have performed so well, he and Crowley were not only NOT discorporated, but ALSO his most precious belongings, the symbols of the human part of his identity, were not harmed in the process. and it was all within mere minutes of their reunion after a major fallout. do you. do you see what I'm

So Crowley’s specialty as an angel was making stars that’s why as a demon, he always expresses a strong desire to go visit or run off to Alpha Centauri.
Meanwhile, Aziraphale’s specialty lies in the creation of Man (remember that dialogue on s02e01 about people they’re “currently designing”?) that’s why he’s knowledgeable about the natural birthing process (Job minisode) unlike the other angels.
So wouldn’t it be truly such an ineffable plan that goes full circle if the progenitor of the vast swathes of the universe and the progenitor of humankind got together in the end because “aren’t the stars put out there to twinkle for people to enjoy?”

I'm hearing a lot of "Crowley deserves to be petty after what Aziraphale did"
And I get it? But hearing "I forgive you" after throwing ALL his chips in at once and watching Aziraphale leave (for who knows how long) was traumatic. It doesn't seem likely he'd pester him about it after they make up just for the sake of being petty.
They'll need an open and uncontained conversation (a big one) to apologize, understand each other, and forgive. Given where they ended off, it's so dire for them to have each other that I think Crowley would make it past any residual anger, not by sweeping it under the rug, but by facing his emotions head-on. Even if it takes a fight, he won't want to leave things unsaid.
It wouldn't be unfair for Crowley to hold resentment, but their falling out isn't the kind of thing he'd keep reliving just to guilt Aziraphale about. It was a heartbreaking fight, and he'll want them to heal from it properly.
I think he'll simply offer his forgiveness. Even if it's more than Aziraphale deserves in the moment, Crowley would give him mercy. He has a good heart. He's full of what heaven lacks. When it's all said and done, he'll want the pain between them to just be over.
