Hello, Biscayne National Park!
flickr
Hello, Biscayne National Park! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This image captures a setting to the northwest with a view beyond some nearby mangroves to the waters of Biscayne Bay. I captured this image while walking along a boardwalk at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center. In composing this image, I used an opening through the mangroves to create a desired depth of field, emphasizing the distant groves and island/keys. The rest of the image was metering to avoid overexposing the highlights in the far-off areas while still being able to pull out the shadowed details in the foreground through post-production adjustments.

Lake Waters and a Mountain Peaks
flickr
Lake Waters and a Mountain Peaks by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the northwest while on a ferry boat ride before pulling into the Lucerne Campground in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. What I loved about this view wasn't just a look across the blue waters to the ridgelines and mountain peaks. It was also that far off view with the clouds seemingly hugging and just above the snowcapped peaks of McGregor Mountain off in the distance. It was as if there were two sets of color contrast between the blues of the lake waters and skies above and then the green, browns, yellows of the mountains and ridgelines in the middle.
