Beyond Goodbye
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Beyond Goodbye (2024, Japan)
Director: Hiroshi Kurosaki
Writer: Yoshikazu Okada
Mini-review:
I feel divided about this. On the one hand, the cinematography is really nice and the locations are downright stunning. And the entire cast is great too, especially the leads; these roles play to all of Kentaro Sakaguchi's and Kasumi Arimura's particular strengths. On the other hand, the plot didn't fully convince me. The conceit makes for a very interesting portrayal of grief, but the whole thing was just a bit too... odd for me. It didn't help that I kept feeling bad for the male lead's wife, even if the central relationship isn't exactly a romance, not with the foundation it's built on. So yeah, I can certainly appreciate Beyond Goodbye's aesthetic, acting and directing, but I'm not quite too sure about the rest.

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger with Tonbo-Ohger (2024)
What is meant to be an April Fools joke turned into reality with this romance comedy tokusatsu, which is a spinoff to the Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 20th: Fireball Booster (2024). A fun trivia is that the actor, Aoto Watanabe said that he had a crush on Ayumi Kinoshita after watching Dekaranger when he was younger.

For potential link rot purposes, this is from M-Line Music episode 125, featuring a perf of Inspiration from 2023. Funnily, the arrangement is J=J's, but they still go with the original MM adlibs formula instead (albeit purely solo).

It features the 02 group, Rui and Ukkomon -- their VAs will be there, after all. Alongside with AiM, Miyazaki Ayumi and Ohta Michihiko.
If I remember correctly, we will learn more news about the upcoming 02 movie in this same event!
(seems like the event won't be streamed this time...?)

SPIDERLILY AU - SHIPS
Tumblr media
This is something we need to discuss about: ships are the best thing ever, as long as the ship is legal and not completely fucked up (minor × adult or victim × killer) I think they're all valid and fine, shipping is funny. (You'll see some rarepairs here, so if you don't like that kind of things you have been warned).
[I am a multishipper too, so I'll probably write something else about other ships I have in mind]
Tumblr media
🍓 Canon x Canon
Rengiyuu
It's one of my favourite ships ever, it's healthy and switch, they look cute togheter (if we talk about aestethic), they fit in the Sun/Moon dynamics and in my AU this is switch too because Kyojuro isn't always happy and a ray of sunshine and Giyu isn't always delusional.
Saneoba
I've seen people starting shipping this when season 4 came out and I couldn't be happier, they're both rude and usually hostile but I like to think they'd make an exception for each other and thay they would make a great duo.
Sabimako
Childhood friends becoming lovers even if they are opposite in some characteristics are one of my favourite tropes; they both have too much energy, definitely. But while Sabito is aggressive but icy cold, sometimes Makomo seems to be literally crazy, she enjoys being sarcastic with him about his behaviour, he appreciates her ways.
Enmu x Kanae
I know you're thinking this could be random if you're new here, but if you know about who they are in my AU, this is the least random ship I came up with. They're both doctors so they spend much time togheter seeing each other try their best, they're both really attractive and smart so... it's pretty obvious they would like each other and eventually end up together.
🍓 Canon x OC
Mitsuri x Ayumi
Again, the Sun/Moon dynamics gets me every single time. In my AU they were both traumatised by men, suffering from violence and assaults, traumas bring people togheter and since they're both respectful when it comes to contact, they could also overcome trauma togheter, it's just a very cute thing and I love this ship.
Muichiro x Rei
They're both the same age and I headcanon Muichiro as a very curious kid, so they'd get along pretty well. This would be a teenager crush of course, but I can see them sharing moments togheter trying to learn stuff from the older Hashiras and helping each other becoming a better slayer.
Tengen x Fujiko
Tengen loves everything that's flashy and I think that a beautiful half-American singer would be the best choice for him. He ran away from his clan so he didn't have to marry three women, he married a woman he actually loved and who matches his personality, honestly there's nothing better.
Shinobu x Hiromi
This couple would be fire. Shinobu likes Hiromi because she's strong, she looks like she's scared of nothing and Hiromi likes Shinobu because she's smart and her right eye looks mystic. Since Kanae is alive and well in this AU Shinobu has kept her tsundere personality, her and Hiromi would be partners in crime and I'd love it.
🍓 OC x OC
Fukuge x Asuka
I actually have a lore for this: since both the Rengoku and the Miyazaki families are/were wealthy families their was an arranged marriage. Of course Asuka wasn't happy with it: Fukuge is clumsy and not regal (he reminded her of Kyojuro, that's the reason why she disliked him), but lately they both started to feel attraction and eventually their marriage became way happier.
Nezha × Harriet
I'll just cry, these two are heavily inspired by Adam and Lute from Hazbin Hotel. Nezha is a complete idiot, Hariet is serious and hostile but they both like each other's energy... and in some way I want Nezha to die saving Harriet and being killed by her in person because she doesn't have any choice but to kill him too to kill her target (I binge listened to DiE4u by BMTH thinking about this scenario and literally cried, I'm crazy I know).
Tumblr media
Aaaand those were my ships, let's say that I'll use these as "canon", but since my multi shipper ass already has some other ships in mind ehehe.

The #Digimon Partners X account announced on Friday that the 25th anniversary of the Digimon Adventure #Anime will conclude with a new video titled "Digimon Adventure -Beyond—" set to debut at #DigimonCon 2025 in late March.
This video will continue the story from Digimon Adventure 02 while offering a fresh perspective on Tai and his friends as adults. It will be directed by Hiroyuki Kakudō, feature character designs by Rie Nishimura, and be animated by Yumeta Company.
The video will also include the iconic song "Brave Heart" by Ayumi Miyazaki. In August, YouTube released a separate anniversary video and new comics and manga on the Digimon Web platform.

Bandai Cardfest 2023-2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I attended the Bandai Cardfest 2023-2024. Overall i woul say it's a good experience. Can it be improved? Yes. But is it still enjoyable? also yes.
Main Event
Main Event was fine...
Was there hiccups? Yes. Bandai changed the main event this year to an open tournament and gave players with invites a two round bye. This means people with invites will have wins for the first two rounds without having to play.
How they handle it was the issue. During pre-regeistration, it wasnt made clear to the players what they have to do. These players had to get in line first to make sure that they do not have a pairing (matches) for the first two rounds. Then after the first 2 rounds, they had to get in line again to make sure they have a pairing.
Because of that, players had to get in line twice. And that somewhat affected the overall runtime of the main event. I believe only One Piece had to extend into late in the night.
6/10
Side Event
Should've had more events running (especially day 1). Regeistration should be faster. Announcement should be made when event starts.
5/10
Product Showcase (annoucement?)
This refers to the day 1 show on mainstage, where new products were showcased. It was overall entertaining and have exclusive news and giveaway. However, giveaways were held after the show, and players had to rush back to their tables for main event. So lots of players weren't able to get them.
8/10
Concert/Performance by Ayumi Miyazaki
Amazing performance.
The Japanese versions of the songs are just iconic.
10/10
Finals
If you're into the card games, its a good watch. You have two of the best players fighting for the title of the national champion with good commentary. 9/10
Otherwise, 3/10.
OVERALL
If you're not a player, it might still be worth it to experience it at least once. There are many demo events/free giveaways.
For players, make sure you know what you're expecting before participating. If you're aiming for the top, you better try your hardest and do your homework. If you're just here to participate, the plan out your exit. Make sure you know when you want to drop out of the main event and do other things.

Last Song: Brave Heart (Digimon Adventure) by Ayumi Miyazaki
Last Movie: X Large starring Ahmed Helmy. Note about this movie: at first glance, it’s a stereotypical romcom between an overweight guy and his crush (a regular-weight girl). But the implicit commentary on how differently obese people are viewed and treated is sad. And the movie doesn’t shy away from showing the health consequences that happen due to obesity.
Currently Watching: Desperate Housewives
Last thing researched for writing purposes: how does rust form
