My first post in the “ur fave is” category:

Yuno Gasai from Future Diary is lovesickgender! Mikan Tsumiki from Danganronpa is lovesickgender! Ayano Aishi from Yandere Simulator is lovesickgender!

Before yesterday, you chose the main protagonist Ayano Aishi from Yandere Simulator, so I thought why not. Besides it’s the most iconic character in the game and everyone knows her. I made an analysis of Ayano Aishi’s design and oh boy that’s a lot of things which we need to talk.

All points I wrote down below and placed in every part.

First at all I left her iconic ponytail hairstyle with an accurate school uniform, but I changed her casual and made for Ayano a different hairstyle. Plus I added for her a red little rope as an accessory. In addition, I changed the form of eyes and them as mysterious and ominous. The form of her eyes I was inspired by Junji Ito’s character from his manga series: Tomie. When I look at her black eyes, I’m having a goosebumps, like she’s thinking of something that I shouldn’t know, that’s the effect I wanted to approve it.

ayano/taro/kokona redesigns!!

Aiko Yumoto replaces Ayano Aishi. (The Aishi surname still exists, her mother just took Jokichi's surname. 11/25) She’s nice but kinda struggles to talk with new people. (A member of the Newspaper Club. If she were in an actual game, she likely wouldn’t be a part of the club.)

I think a cuter look would actually help the audience root for her rather than feel like they’re just doing tasks for/reading the life of some random girl.

Yuto Tanaka replaces Taro Yamada. He’s the leader of the Newspaper Club. While introverted, he's certainly not shy. His articles are very positive, typically about mental health and self-care.

The awkward vibes that he gives makes him a lil cuter imo. Similar to Aiko, the additions to his character hopefully make the audience feel some sort of attachment to him. Credits to Kotohime/peachiime for the inspo<33

Kokona Haruka’s name remains the same; it’s iconic. She’s a very bubbly new gal who adores idols and actors.

I didn’t hate her original design but it kinda bothered me? I preferred the looser drills from her casual look, so I added them to her design.

Finally! I got a clear idea on what Red looks like and drew them with permission! And now bit of "development history".

Based off what they told me, at first I tried to imagine like - Ayano Aishi from YanSim but adding therapy (and longer hair) with jail, because she's pretty much the blank slate for a yandere type. But then I was like naahh, too obvious.

I don't exactly have a favorite yandere as I like a lot of interpretations especially now that mental health is becoming better written. So I considered a mashup/parody of a yandere... but was like nah.

Then I thought of those anime characters who are usually so lax or cheerful that their eyes appear to be closed. But then once they open them they're amazingly intense or frightening.

And then I got to using their icon as inspiration. Because I was like... "idk who that bleeding person is, but they look like they've gone through shit". And now here's Red!

When I find my stylus, I'll draw them digitally, and they'll be much cooler.
