it was supposed to be a short trip.
𝐎𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐖𝐀 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐔 keeps telling himself those eight words as he steps out of his convertible car, making his way towards your shared house’s front porch, arms filled with a bunch of vegetables, fruits and argentinan food.
what is he gonna tell you ?
tooru sighs, ruffling a hand through his chestnut locks, looking over at the large wooden crates sitting on the back seat. he lifts two of the crates, placing them under his left arm and grabbing the last crate with his right hand, making his way to the house’s front door.
the brunet manages to find his keys in the back pocket of his pants, opening the front door and stepping inside of your shared residence. tooru place his keys inside of the light-pink, ceramic, hibiscus-shaped trinket bowl you made at very start of your pregnancy, a few months ago. the chestnut-haired man smiles as he remembers the day you came up to him, a bright smile on your plump lips as you showed off the small object you had just made.
tooru kicks his shoes off, sweeping them somewhere towards the front door, before walking over to the kitchen.
he places the three crates on the soapstone countertop of the kitchen island, the white gold metal of his engagement ring tapping against the counter. he sighs, putting his hand on the side of his neck, cracking his neck, a breath escaping his slightly chapped lips. he places his arms behind his back, cracking the bones of his arms and back.
he grabs a large wooden bowl, placing it next to the sink. he takes the lemons off the fruit crate, rinsing them under the sink’s water and drying them before placing them into the wooden bowl. he does the same with the apples, limes, mangos, passion fruits and the other citrus before onto the vegetables : avocados, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and spinash. he grabs the freshly washed vegetables, opening the fidge to stock them into one the fridge’s drawer.
tooru turns on the water, washing his hands in the kitchen sink when his ears perk up at the sound of bare footsteps against the laminate floor of your shared house, which makes a smile appears on his slightly chapped lips.
“g’morning, princess.” your fiancé greets you when he feels your arms wrap his torso, turning off the water, drying his hands with a towel. you mutter a small ‘morning’, snuggling your head deeper against tooru’s back, which makes him laugh.
he loosens your grip from his muscular torso, earning a whine of protest from you — which makes him chuckle. he turns his body around, now facing you, gently resting his arms on each side of your neck, his hands resting on the back of your shoulders — fingertips drawing random patterns against your skin.
“how did ya sleep ?” he asks you softly, watching as you tilt your head upwards, your eyelashes fluttering open as you look up at him, slightly scrunching your nose as he places a kiss on the tip of it.
“good until i woke up to a cold bed.” you answer your fiancé’s question, a subtle pout on your plump lips, still annoyed with the fact that he left you, his five months pregnant fiancée, all alone in your king-sized bed.
the chestnut-haired man laughs at your words, muttering a small ‘sorry about that’ as he presses a small peck on your forehead. “ya smell s’ nice. . . ” he mutters, closing his eyes as he snuggles his face in the crook of your neck, taking in your sweet scent. “ya took a shower ?”
you nod your head ‘yes’, opening your mouth in order to answer him when you spot the large wooden bowl placed next to the sink, the fruits almost falling on the countertop. “tooru.” your fiancé cringes at the tone of your voice, knowing damn well that he’s in trouble. “what the hell is all this ?”
“just— listen to me, ‘kay ?” he sighs, placing his left hand on the soapstone countertop, watching as you let go of him, taking a red apple in one of your hands. he tubs the back of his neck with his right hand. “i went to the market downtown this morning, y’know the small local market that ya love.” he starts, glancing a you. “the locals were sweet, as always, and kept asking me pictures about ya, how ya were nd all. when i told ‘em that there was only four months left before our little girl comes they shoved a bunch of products in my arms.”
you can’t help but smile as tooru explains the whole story, your heart swelling with deep fondness at the thought of the locals’ sweet actions.
the chestnut-haired man chuckles as he watches a timid smile appearing on your plump lips, noticing how the red apple is still in your hand. “want me to cut it for ya ?” he suggests, moving closer to you. “so that ya can have it for breakfast.”
“i want. . .” you think out loud, glacing downwards at the large apple in your hand. “. . .cheesy apple swaddles.”
a weird silence settles between the two of you right after those words left your lips. a stunned expression appears on tooru’s face, visibly at a loss for words. “cheesy apple swa— baby, the hell is that ?!” he asks, not believing your words, which makes a subtle pout appearing on your lips.
“cheesy apple swaddles.” you repeat, insisting on each syllables of the three words before sighing. “canned croissant dough, apple slice, brie cheese slice, honey. you swaddle it up, like a baby, butter, cinnamon sugar and bake it.”
“bake it ?” tooru repeats, one of his eyebrows raised as he rubs his chin with his right hand, glancing down at you. “then eat it.” you add, nodding your head as you speak.
“sometimes i wonder what’s happening in that silly head of yer.” he says before sighing, a small smile appearing on his slightly chapped lips. “but i’ll make that for ya.”
the subtle pout on your lips disappears as the last words leves his lips, the corner of your lips turning into a bright smile. you place your hands on each side of his face, the white gold metal of your engagement cold against his warm skin, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek, muttering a small ‘thanks, you’re the best !’ before moving over to the large couch in the living room.
tooru lets out a chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck as he glances down at the red apple you placed on the soapstone countertop. He moves over to the fridge, opening it with his free hand. he grabs a can of pre-made croissant dough, a stick of butter along with some brie cheese. he closes the fridge, opening one of the kitchen’s drawers, taking the small jar of cinnamon sugar and the pot of honey.
the chestnut-haired man opens the canned croissant, unfolding the pre-made dough and cutting it in five small triangles. he cuts the red apple in ten slices, along with the brie cheese. he places a slice on apple on one of the dough triangles, followed with one of the cheese slices and a trail of honey before rolling the swaddle up. he does that for more times, putting a bit of butter in the microwave, just enough time for it to melt, before covering the five swaddles in melted butter and cinnamon sugar and placing the in the oven.
while waiting for your craving to bake tooru decides to make the both of your your favorite morning drinks : a lungo for him and a mocha for you. right after adding some whipped cream on top of your drink, the chestnu-haired man walks towards you, placing his drink on the coffee table and handing you the mocha, smiling as he sees the home decor mag on your lap, your new obsession of the moment.
“thanks, tooru.” you say as you grab the mug he’s handing you.
just as your fiancé leans down to sit next to you, the time alarm rings, making him groan in annoyance. you chuckle as you watch tooru make his way to the kitchen, opening the oven and placing the five swaddles on a plate, cutting the rest of the apple for him. he then walks back to you, a plate in each of his hands.
the chestnut-haired man places the two plates on the coffe table, grabbing the television’s remote, turning it on to watch the news. as he leans back into the couch, tooru wraps an arm around your shoulders, watching as you take a small bite out of one of the swaddles, a pleased hum leaving your lips as you nod your head.
“it’s good ?” tooru asks you as he turns his head towards you. “so good !” you exclaim, licking the tip of your fingers. suddenly, he leans down, taking a large bite out of the snack in your hands, to which you shout a protest, hitting his chest with your fist.
“it’s kinda weird but not bad.” your fiancé declares, shrugging his shoulders, unfazed by the light hit on his chest. “guess that‘s cuz i’m the one who made it.”
you slap the back of his head at his cocky words. “shut up.”

Imagine if South America/Mexico got hit by an S rank gate, what would be the world wide repercussions of the avocado industry going down? Would people beg Sung Jinwoo to clear it? Would he already be on his way as soon as he hears about it?
I don't think avocado is big enough to result in people begging Sung Jinwoo to clear it per say. A polite invitation from the avocado cartel? Sure - but I think the Korean Hunter Association filters out such requests before it would even be sent to Jinwoo and his guild lol. Plus there's S ranked Hunters in South America too! I think people would look to their local hunters first for help - and for domestic pride too. It's kind of embarrassing to be needing to request foreign aid plus what kind of compensation can the countries really provide when they have already been decimated by such a gate? They can't afford it nor afford to own a favor. That's a pretty risky political position to be in, to say nothing else of the geopolitical implications and existing alliances they have to balance.
If this was a staple crop like a wheat, rice, or potato where it would be a catastrophic failure, sure. But the good news is that staple crops are far more diversified in where they are grown so while one region getting hit raises prices (cough see Ukraine war, wheat, and fertilizer), it's not going to result in massive shortages akin to the toilet paper crisis of 2020. Avocados are a large export item. The United States is the number one market for Mexico's avocado exports, with an 81 percent share, followed by Canada, Japan, and Spain, so I think the first foreign hunters called in to help would be the American guilds. (Plus they would be more personally motivated to keep their supply of guac going.) Koreans? I don't think they are as keen about avocados.

Hey so, I've been doing this for a while now (few years) but looking through your blog gave me some sudden concerns for my pokemon's diets (noibat and noivern, i live in paldea btw)
My bat buddies diet includes
-mixed assortment of berries for their fruits (cheri, pecha, oran, mago, apicot, and micle, specifically)
-scatterbug for protein
-on a few occasions, we share a sandwich with ham, they get more of the meat than bread.
Is this good? Pokemon center said they were all healthy at their recent checkup, but looking through this blog made me a little worried I wasn't giving them the right foods
aww bat buddies! it can be hard to provide for these guys, since there aren't always great commercial diets available for them.
the berry selection you've got there is great! i'd try adding some avocado and dates for the fat and extra fiber, but those are perfect for a noibat.
a little scatterbug is okay for both the noibat and the noivern, but noibat should eat a diet that's 95% fruit, and noivern need meat as well. their diet in the wild consists of a mix of bug types as well as small mammals such as pichu, meowth, and deerling, and sometimes bird pokemon they catch in the air. a noivern's diet should be about 70% meat, 20% bug, and 10% fruit.
i wouldn't give bread at all, since their digestive tract can't process it. a tiiiiiiny bit of ham as a treat for the noivern is okay every once in a while, but definitely not for the noibat- far too high in sodium. a good treat for the noibat would be a little bit of flower nectar; you can buy the kind marketed for oricorio. if you can get your hands on it, roseli berry is also a great treat for both of them
make sure you've got a mineral block for them to lick, and that's a great diet for your bats!

MEXICO CITY — In a small town in Mexico’s western state of Michoacán, members of a criminal group forced residents to pay for high-cost internet service — or face death.
After these threats, residents made monthly extortion payments while simultaneously reporting the situation to authorities.
After months of investigations, officials raided three properties, finding evidence such as antennas, internet repeater equipment and connections, which were handed over to the prosecutor's office.
While it may sound surprising for Mexico's drug cartels to be involved in internet service, those who follow the criminal groups' activities aren't at all surprised.
"Drug cartels have diversified their operations since their inception," security analyst David Saucedo said. "Many of them started as criminal organizations whose main activity wasn’t drug trafficking."
Some gangs were involved in, for example, fuel theft, others were involved in vehicle theft and others specialized in robbing public transportation, Saucedo said.
“Criminal groups that joined drug trafficking already had these other activities beforehand.”
Besides the billions of dollars cartels make from the drug trafficking industry, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says the most powerful drug cartels, Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), are involved in many illegal ventures that result in profits.
“The Sinaloa Cartel is most closely identified with drug trafficking but is also engaged in extortion, the theft of petroleum and ores, weapons trafficking, migrant smuggling, and prostitution,” the 2024 National Drug Threat Assessment states.
CJNG directs the theft of fuel from pipelines, extorts agave and avocado farmers, migrants and prison officials, and taxes migrant smugglers, the report said.
"The portfolio is extensive. However, while drug trafficking is the most profitable activity, it has a longer recovery time for the investment compared to other ... criminal activities, which yield almost immediate profit," Saucedo said.
From cartels calling older Americans to offer timeshares in Mexico, leading to the loss of nearly $40 million, to cartel-backed smugglers reaping growing profits in the trafficking of migrants across the U.S-Mexico border, their criminal range is extensive.
Here are some ways where the cartels have extended their reach:
Fuel theft
Fuel theft, known as huachicoleo in Mexico, is a highly profitable activity for organized crime groups. In the first nine months of 2022, Mexico's state-owned oil company, Pemex, lost $730 million from illegal pipeline taps.
Cartels in Mexico have developed a sophisticated approach to fuel theft, which involves corruption, precision and violence.
This includes tactics such as bribing Pemex employees and local officials for information, drilling precise illegal taps into pipelines, and using modified tanker trucks to transport stolen fuel for distribution in black market networks.
Several cartels are involved in this criminal activity. For instance, the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, led by Jose Antonio Yepez, also known as El Marro, established its dominance through fuel theft before entering into drug trafficking.
Additionally, CJNG and the Gulf Cartel are also linked to fuel theft, which supports their criminal activities.
Avocados
Mexico's multibillion-dollar avocado industry, which continues to break records for exports every year, has also been one of the main targets for drug cartels.
Avocados are known as “green gold” in Mexico, and the country has become the world’s largest producer of the popular fruit.
But as growers’ fortunes have risen, they have faced increasing threats from drug cartels seeking a share of the profits.
In Michoacán, the only state authorized to export the fruit to the U.S., CJNG and local gangs demand payments from farmers, often referred to as "protection fees."
These fees can range from $135 to $500 per hectare monthly, depending on the size of the farm and the level of perceived threat.
The extortion process begins with cartels identifying and targeting profitable farms. Armed cartel members then approach the farmers, issuing threats of violence or property damage if the farmers refuse to comply.
In February 2022, the U.S. suspended avocado imports from Mexico after a U.S. official received a death threat while working in Uruapan.
The imports resumed a week later following new safety measures applied by Mexico’s government in the region.
Two years later, locals say the situation hasn’t changed much, and avocado growers continue to deal with criminal organizations in the area.
Tortillas
The average Mexican consumes about 70 kilograms of tortillas annually, according to the Mexican Agriculture Ministry. It is a staple in Mexican cuisine, which is why cartels have decided to profit from it.
Extortion from cartels affects nearly 20,000 tortillerías, directly impacting the prices paid by Mexicans.
According to the National Tortilla Council, in an interview with The Washington Post, out of more than 130,000 tortillerías in the country, between 14 to 15% percent suffer from extortion.
Homero López García, the organization's president, told El Sol de México that establishments must pay between $135 and $190 weekly to multiple criminal groups to continue operating.
"Well, look, nothing surprises me anymore," Saucedo, the security analyst, said about cartels extorting tortillerías. "Perhaps it's a somewhat insensitive and cynical posture from me, but the truth is that I remain open to all possibilities in this regard."
Chicken
In a video posted on social media two days before Christmas 2023, an armed group was seen arriving at a poultry shop in Toluca, Mexico, kidnapping four workers and putting them into a white van.
The Mexico state prosecutor's office said the victims were retailers who were forced to buy chicken in some establishments. Likewise, they had to pay a fee of $2.50 per kilo in exchange for not getting killed by the Familia Michoacana cartel.
Authorities said as a result of their efforts to combat extortion, the criminal groups La Familia Michoacana and CJNG lost over $43 million from threatening poultry and egg vendors in municipalities of the Toluca Valley and the southern part of the state.
The state prosecutor's office said in 2023 alone, they received 4,010 complaints for this crime, of which they determined that only one in four was made in person, with the rest being indirect through phone calls, social media, and emails.
Three months later, the four workers kidnapped in December were found alive, and four perpetrators were detained, but those behind the abductions remain on the loose and the extortion of poultry vendors continues, officials said.
'Piso' fee
"They were asking me for $600 monthly for cobro de piso; we reported it, and we had to close for a month," Guillermo, a businessman in downtown Mexico City, told local media, recalling the extortion from the cartel.
The cobro de piso, which is the fee cartels charge business owners in exchange for "protection," has been the main problem for merchants in Mexico City.
"The first group of affected businesses are restaurants, followed by convenience stores in second place, and then jewelry stores in third place," said Jose de Jesus Rodriguez, president of Mexico City’s Chamber of Commerce.
In the past few years, extortions have been on the rise. Depending on the areas, some establishments would receive calls, emails, or in-person visits from armed men asking for the cartel's fee.
"They have tried several times, it's through calls," restaurant owner Israel Zavala told Mexican media. "The trust in the authorities isn't very high; complaints have been filed, but they don't proceed."
Analyst Saucedo said the problem with the metrics is that we have never had access to their accounting books.
“We will never have the total amount of the taxable fee because many do not report it to the authorities.”
In Mexico City, there are many criminal organizations involved in activities such as drug dealing, but also charging extortion fees to small business owners like tortilla shops, street vendors, and taxi drivers.
"Since Mexico City is a densely populated area, and we have a very large informal economy, many people are unfortunately susceptible to paying protection money. Consequently, it is a profitable activity for the local mafias," Saucedo said.
"Besides paying an official tax to come to work, you have to pay another one to them," Angel Campos, a vendor at a street market in Mexico City, said.

7 ways to RAISE YOUR VIBEZ
7 ways to RAISE YOUR VIBEZ
Journaling. Journaling is the MOST important way to transform into your highest self. Get your thoughts, ideas, traumas, fantasies out of your head and on paper. If you sit and evaluate your life and question, are you happy? What will make you happy? What will satisfy you? What are your desires in life? Short term goals? Long term goals? What type of person do you aspire to be? Now how cool would it be to write your responses on paper and watch them unfold in your reality. Journaling allows you to look back at your old notes and see what was once a desire or manifestation that you are now living. It is easier to take action on your goals and hold yourself accountable when you jot it down. This journal should be sacred and hold value to your life's desires and your journey to raising your vibe.
Be still/Spending time with yourself. For so long we give ourselves away whether it is to our job, kids, our spouse, social media, school, honestly anything! Practicing stillness means you're resting in God’s presence. Silencing your mind can be challenging when you are busy living your day-to-day life. But taking the time to sit with yourself and allowing God into your inner being will silence the chaos and allow you to align with His guidance and connection. Find a quiet place when you rise from resting like nature, the beach, park, or bath time just to name a few and begin by inhaling deep breaths through your nose and releasing deep breaths through your mouth. Invite and share your quiet moments with God. Allow God to calm your mind and be within the moment. Start your day with prayer and conversations with God. Release what no longer serves you, show gratitude for all things and make this a habit. It will for sure transform your vibes.
Feed your mind with positivity. It is extremely important to be mindful of what you are feeding your mind. I cannot say this enough. What type of music are you listening to? I get it, the beat may be bumping, but what are the lyrics saying that you are essentially feeding into your subconscious mind. The same goes for television, movies, who you take advice from. Music is such a beautiful source of expression, it should be divine, sensual, upbeat and soft. You should feel good listening to it and after you turn it off. Find the music that enhances your vibes for the person you are trying to become. Read books of substance or listen to helpful podcasts.
Feed your body with High Vibe food. Not only should you be feeding your mind with positivity, but also your body. Pay attention to the food you eat and how it makes you feel. Are you feeling bloated or tired when you're done eating a meal? You should feel energized! You just refueled your body, why would you not feel like it energetically? Start your day off with fruit or a less heavy meal like avocado toast with tomatoes. For lunch, instead of eating, chick fil a, decide to make your own chicken sandwich. (Sourdough bread, thin chicken breast, arugula, tomatoes, pepper jack cheese (or what you prefer) and with chipotle aioli or just avocado spread) WAYYYYY healthier and is so quick and easy to make. Trust me! Swap unhealthy mainstream brands for organic, healthy options that can be found at local markets, sprouts, trader joes, Publix and yes, sometimes Walmart. 😉
Spend time in nature. If you have been researching how to raise your vibe or transform to your highest self, I think you must know this is key. Getting back to source. Getting sunlight on your body. Connecting with the sun and forming a great relationship to enjoy its awesome benefits. Breathing in fresh air, actively moving your body, enjoying nature, and simply acknowledging nature. Watch your vibe rise high.
Practice gratitude and positive affirmations. Looking at yourself in the mirror and expressing gratitude for the blessings in your life speaks volumes for the frequency you operate on and raising that vibe. Speak positive to yourself. Tell yourself you love yourself! See and acknowledge the divine within you. 😊
Workout. Moving your body is essential to feeling good about yourself. And of course, if you feel good, you are already raising that vibe of yours. Moving your body doesn't always mean you need a gym membership. Home workouts are just as effective. Set a schedule and plan what you are working on for the day. Remember, this is going to take time. You will not see your desired results within a week or month. It takes dedication, and persistence to get to that goal you wrote down in that journal of yours. Keep going and take journey pictures. Simply moving your body is just increasing your vibe. How do you feel when you complete a workout? Exactly.

He said that he was craving Aztec soup.
Because he is my dad, of course I made it!!
Now, I'm sharing just because I'm saving MY recipe here and for the ones who would like to eat some decent fucking Mexican food.
INGREDIENTS FOR THE 3 LITERS OF SOUP.
6 big tomatoes
4 garlic cloves
1 big ass onion
2 chiles guajillo (dried mirasol)
2 chiles de guisar/ancho (dried Capsicum annuum)
120g of chile chipotle
1 chicken leg (or just a chicken bone... any bone)
2 chicken breast
carrots to taste
potatoes to taste
Cucurbita to taste (that green veggie)
2 Avocados
Fresh cheese to taste (when I mean fresh, I mean; go and buy it from your local market, not the shit that has probably 6 months in a fridge, this needs a cheese that breaks once you slightly press it between your fingers) if you can't get it, use mozzarella.
15 tortillas (please use tortillas made of CORN, but if you don't have them... well then the dish you will prepare can't be called "Aztec," but hey, you have my permission to use bread or even those shitty nachos BUT YOU CAN'T USE DORITOS... or I'm personally chasing you over and murdering you.)
Spices
METODOLOGY!!
1) Bring half a liter of water to boil, turn the energy down (fire or ignition WHATEVER!), and add there the dried chilis (this will help them soften.) Leave them to rest. (just look how sad they look and how happy they turn after a nice hot bath 🥺✨ if you are weak and can't tolerate spicy food take away the seeds and the little veins, Omacatl is going to curse you without friends bc of your puny palate.)
2) In a pot, add 2 liters of water, add salt to taste, and put there the chicken; (as it cooks, take away all the foam.) Cook medium-high heat for 35 min.
3) Cut the tomatoes and the onion into big chunks, and peel the garlic cloves (do it with your fingers pretend they are the eyes of your enemies and release some anger.)
4) in a very hot comal (or if you are basic, in a nonstick pan,) put your tomatoes and onion to cook, DO NOT USE OIL!! just let them cook on a hot surface.
k: omg!! they look burnt!! are you sure is that the right way???
c: STFU YOU WEAK HUMAN, THEY NEED TO LOOK LIKE THIS if they don't look like this you are doing it wrong; if you don't do it like this the nearest Mexican human corpse is going to haunt you down.
5) Take away the chicken from the broth, and put it in a bowl.
6) Take away from the jacuzzi those dried chilis and put them on the mixer, add the cloves of garlic, tomatoes, and onion you just cooked, the 120g of chipotle chilis, and now my fellas, dear colonizers reading this, pay attention, this is crutial THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT TASTE GOOD:
add a pinch of:
salt, black pepper, cinnamon, powder of cilantro seeds, brown sugar, thyme, AND 3 PINCHES OF DELICIOUS GLORIOUS CARAWAY. Add a liter of water and mix it well, once looks as homogeneous as it can be, pour it into the chicken broth.
Just look at how pretty that looks!!! That looks like decent food, that looks like something my ancestors would be proud of!!! *honestly I got some tears after tasting this, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!*
7) Use any method you like to make eatable those chunks of meat, I like to separate the meat with my hands.
8) Add the meat again to the chili-spicy/broth and add the minced veggies
9) cook for 40 min, low heat.
10) Mince the coriander
11) If you are a cool decent human cut the tortillas into small rectangles and fry them until they are hard 🔥😏 2 to 3 tortillas per serving. If you are not cool use your shameful nachos.
12) TIME TO FUCKING SERVE AND TASTE THE FRUIT OF YOUR 3 HOURS OF WORK!!
In a bowl, serve the meat and veggies, add some chili broth, put in the center your tortillas, around the tortillas the cheese, on top the minced coriander, and decorate with slices of avocado.
now that is decent food 😌🔥 you are very welcome.
#grandmacore#my dad loved it *sighs* he deserves the world!!! he is the sweetest <3333#wanted to share bc I ate this in a pretentious ass restaurant and lmao; I think I outdone them kkkkkkk#probably to make this even better I need to work with the broth and a good selection of veggies#grannies would be proud 💕#mexican food#recepies#aztec soup recipe#if you try it; send pics over I'D LOVE TO SEE

“Happy #batappreciationday!
If your day includes soap, shampoo, cosmetics, a toothbrush and toothpaste, coffee, margarine, paper or ink, cushions, wood furniture, fuel or lubricating fluids, rope or twine, timber, boats or canoes, ornamental trees, life saving medicines, air fresheners, candles, rubber, chewing gum, spices, vegetables, fruits, chocolate or even margaritas or beer, you are not only involved with bats, you are dependent upon bats. Bats pollinate or disperse the seeds of many valuable plants and trees including wild banana, avocado, date, fig, mango, eucalyptus and balsa wood, just to name a few. It is the fruit bats that are responsible for 98% of the reforestation of the world's rain forests (the lungs of our planet). Without fruit bats we would lose entire forests without felling a single tree.
About seventy percent of all bats are insect eaters that feed on a tremendous diversity of bugs including the pests that consume the crops we need to survive. Each bat is capable of eating a whopping 5,000 insects per night; a lactating female will eat twice that amount. The 20 million bats (the single largest warm blooded mammal colony population on earth), that roost at Bracken Cave in Texas, eat 200 tons of insects each summer evening. Bats eat crop pests that cost farmers billions of dollars annually. Insect control by bats keeps down prices of fruits and vegetables at the market place.
Bats are a keystone species and they have long played essential roles in our lives. Their loss today would compromise the health and stability of our environment. Bat Appreciation Day is a tribute to these little agricultural vacuum cleaners in the sky, controllers of fruit flies, dispersers of seeds, and pollinators of products we both need and desire.
We had to share one of our favorite photos from @Bat World Bulgaria again, because we also appreciate just how stinking cute bats are!
Thank you, dear bats, we would be lost without you.”

hello health queen can you share any strategies to eat healthily on a low budget…. i love produce but it feels like a luxury these days. do you grow your own fruits and veggies? thank you 🤩
i’ve been meaning to build a raised garden bed/look at facebook market place for untreated wood. but i’ve been very busy. have not started a produce garden, well on my way to. an herbal garden tho.
the trick is…. i steal LMAO. oh i have 6 avocados? i’m abt to say i only have 2. oh a bag of organic zucchini? how abt i put in that it’s non organic. idc what anyone says abt how unethical this is or how horrible it is. i have to do what i have to do, and so do u!! i also go to the health department and get farmers market vouchers to pick up fresh produce from the farmers market, i get tomatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, all with farmers market vouchers. i also have EBT, which does help but they’ve cut my balance by -100 so it’s been an even more struggle.
when i get donations from my amazing friends, i’ll stock up on meat and freeze it, i’ve done this 3 times and we have meat to use, im very thankful for that.
i budget everything, like i’ll go in to sprouts and budget out how much everything will be, i have a costco card that my ex husband got me, so i can buy bulk produce from there too. i freeze some of my fruits too.
it works out best for me because it’s just me and my son, and i can go a couple hours without eating/fasting. produce used to be the cheapest thing to buy, now organic blueberry’s are $6… ass.. and these stores are still making bank.
oh i also go to food banks whenever i can!!! there isn’t much :( but i sure do try :(
i need to get in touch with more churches and organizations.
i’m sorry i couldn’t be much help :(

༘˚⋆𐙚。⋆𖦹.✧˚"Beauty Product Manufacturers and Eco-Friendly Cosmetics”༘˚⋆𐙚。⋆𖦹.✧˚
Hi beautes! 👋🏻 🎀. I want to share one of my opinions and research from what I found that Beauty Product Manufacturers and Eco-Friendly Cosmetics” are really important. Skin irritation and allergic responses are less common with natural and oleochemical substances. Sustainable products are made from naturally occurring substances that humans have been utilizing for centuries: plants and animals. These ingredients have therapeutic qualities and are free of synthetic, poisonous chemicals and artificial colors. Take glycerine, an organic byproduct of palm oil. Cosmetics, medications, and soaps all employ the clear, non-toxic liquid. Glycerine retains moisture well since it is a humectant, which makes it a great moisturizer. By enhancing the body's hygroscopic properties, glycerine helps the skin to absorb and retain water. It can be put anywhere on the body because it doesn't cause irritation. It works well as an anti-aging component.
Because The average Asian or American is thought to use 100 kilos of plastic every year, with over half of the plastic generated going toward single-use disposable products. Typical suppliers of environmentally friendly cosmetics include: Natural oils, including avocado, coconut, and olive oils. Plants used in agriculture, such soybeans and corn. Environmentally friendly formulas are the foundation of eco-friendly cosmetics, which are then produced and packaged using eco-friendly procedures. Ingredients that are made from natural substances are used in the creation of these "green," sustainable cosmetics. Eco-friendly beauty products can be an excellent choice for people with sensitive skin since, in addition to being good for the environment, they are typically made of natural and organic ingredients.
Additionally, harsh chemicals are likely to be absent from eco-friendly cosmetics, which lowers your chance of skin damage and flare-ups. Harsh chemicals are also probably not included in eco-friendly cosmetics, which lowers our chance of skin damage and flare-ups. Consumers nowadays are more concerned with social and environmental responsibilities and have a developing global consciousness. The softer environmental impact of sustainable products is one of their key advantages. There are new reports every week about massive garbage floating in the water or risky carbon outputs. Conventional cosmetics include several dangerous substances called petrochemicals that harm both our bodies and the environment. Customers seek organic, low-polluting items as we grow more conscious of the environment. How are we gonna make the world change? so here’s the tip that you should know:
1. Recognizing Ecological Natural beauty
The following are a few of the most well-known, eco-friendly, sustainable cosmetic brands and their offerings: Native:
-Native uses natural, organic components to make its deodorants. Native's brand is based on "easy-to-understand, nontoxic ingredients." Herbs like castor bean oil, coconut oil, and shea butter are generated from oleochemicals.
-Burt's Bees: From modest beeswax candles to a massive empire of lip products, Burt's Bees has emerged as a global pioneer in sustainability. The company uses natural and organic components in its cosmetics and personal care products, and it follows a "no-waste" manufacturing philosophy. They use beeswax, herbs, and botanical oils to create their well-known goods.
- Blissoma: Specializing in skincare, Blissoma provides a vast selection of green skincare products divided by skin type and need. Their preservative-free cosmetics use natural components such as fruit enzymes, Vitamin C, organic herbs, and cereals.
The job Manufacturers of cosmetics have a rare chance to emphasize corporate responsibility by focusing on green cosmetics. Going above and beyond with sustainable sourcing or packaging can have a big influence, in addition to the good effects green marketing can have on a company's image. A business assumes responsibility for its effects on economies and world health when it ramps up its sustainability initiatives. A company can earn authority and respect from suppliers, customers, and other distribution chain participants by assuming corporate responsibility for its manufacturing.
2. The Effect of Modern Beauty Products on the Environment
The Intensity of Resources and Waste Production: - Sourcing of Ingredients: Resource-intensive procedures are a major part of the manufacturing of traditional cosmetics. One such component that contributes to habitat loss and deforestation is palm oil, which is widely used in cosmetics.Packaging Waste: Take into consideration the chic plastic cases that hold your go-to lipstick or moisturizer. A major contributing factor to the worldwide plastic pollution problem is that these containers frequently wind up in landfills or the ocean.
Toxic ingredients included in many traditional cosmetic products, including parabens, phthalates, and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, contribute to chemical pollution and water contamination. In addition to endangering human health, these pollutants contaminate rivers. Ecosystems that are aquatic are impacted by the chemicals we rinse out of our hair or wash off our makeup, which ends up in rivers and oceans. - Tiny plastics: Small plastic particles called microplastics are present in toothpaste, exfoliating scrubs, and some shampoos. These particles are non-biodegradable. Microplastics can harm marine life and possibly make their way into our food chain when they amass in water bodies. Part 3: Greenhouse Gases and Climate Change - Distribution and Transportation: Cosmetics are produced all over the world and distributed extensively. Storage of some goods (such serums) in a refrigerator also adds to the energy usage.
For example: Parabens. - Toxic Substance: Preservatives including methylparaben, ethylparaben, and propylparaben are frequently found in skincare and makeup products. On the other hand, they may increase the risk of breast cancer and cause hormone imbalance. - Alternative: Look for natural preservatives like vitamin E, rosemary oil, or grapefruit seed extract, or choose items that are labeled "paraben-free".
3. Producing Your Own Eco-Friendly Items
Do-it-yourself Beauty Recipes: - For a calming and purifying effect, mix oatmeal, honey, and chamomile tea to make a mild face cleanser. For a luscious and nourishing treat, combine shea and cocoa butter with your preferred essential oils to create a moisturizing body butter. Shake some lemon or orange peels into some apple cider vinegar to create a revitalizing and pleasant citrus hair rinse. Sustainable Packaging Options: To cut down on plastic waste, put your homemade beauty products in reusable glass jars or metal tins. Take into consideration giving empty containers from completed commercial cosmetic items a new lease on life.
Be healthy always, love 🎀🪞🩰🦢🕯️

1 February 2024 - I rode my scooter to the pickup spot in Henderson. When I got to Henderson, a really nice New Zealander wished me a good morning and a lovely day! He was just a dude in a high-vis shirt with a bucket of cleaning supplies and some nitrile gloves cleaning graffiti, and he wanted to make my day 🥰🥰 As Cam and Jordan pulled up, Jordan gave me a mana wave out the window before they pulled into the parking lot, and I could immediately feel the mana! A huge smile appeared on my face, and my day was made! I hopped in the van, and we drove to Piha. I led most of the day, and it went really smoothly! Cam brought six sandwiches for six clients, but only five showed up... so... I got to eat a client sandwich with beetroot and avocado😋🤤😋🤤. I felt really good about running the top of the fourth abseil. The clients had a blast!
When I got home, I hung out with Jimmy, Maddie, and Arnie. We took Maddie to the night markets, and it was both Maddie's first time as well as Arnie's first time going to the night market. We all had a good time, walking around, and smelling the delicious food. I got some veggie dumplings, and I shared some with Maddie; she LOVED the veggie dumplings! Arnie bought some dessert to share. We went home, Jimmy dropped Maddie off, and the three of us enjoyed our desserts (Arnie is dishing out the desserts in the photos above) while watching my GoPro videos of Piha Canyon from today. Jimmy and Arnie loved watching the canyoning videos! They asked to see more videos, so I showed them the video from rafting the Zion Narrows and the canyoneering descent of Heaps Canyon. They LOVED watching these videos! Jimmy is going to take me to Massey to check out a motorcycle for sale on facebook marketplace 🤞.
I'm grateful to the nice stranger that started off my day with a friendly greeting. I'm grateful to Jordan for giving me some of his mana first thing in the morning. I'm grateful to Cam for his mentorship. I'm grateful for a fun-filled day in the canyon. Now that I'm getting the hang of the canyon, I'm able to be more fun and less serious, which is really cozy. I'm grateful for Jimmy, his energy, his enthusiasm, his generosity, and most of all his friendship. I'm grateful for Arnie and his generosity and friendship too. I've got a really good thing going here. I can't believe how different I'm feeling here and now in New Zealand than I was in Cairns in December. I'm so lucky to have ended up here - like geographically here in New Zealand, but also like here at AWOL with Cam and Jordan and like here at the sharehouse on Fitzwater Place with Arnie and Jimmy (and sometimes Maddie). How lucky am I!
