Indigenous Empowerment: Address Inequality and Building a Bright Future
Imajica Agency: Indigenous Peoples - Australia
The actions of the current Australian Government, Federal, State, Local and their Agencies to undertake a positive outcome for the Indigenous People of Australia has serious implications of a zero result as from the history of the Australian Government’s and their Agencies with regards to the Indigenous People of Australia.
Despite efforts by various governments, Indigenous communities in Australia still face significant inequality and challenges. While some progress has been made in redressing past injustices, much more needs to be done to improve the livelihoods and opportunities of Indigenous Australians. One of the key issues is land rights. Indigenous communities have long been dispossessed of their land, and efforts to restore land rights have been slow and insufficient. Additionally, Indigenous people often face discrimination and marginalization in areas such as education, employment, and healthcare. The government needs to take concrete steps to address these issues and work closely with Indigenous leaders and communities to find solutions. Another area where progress is needed is in closing the gap in health outcomes. Indigenous Australians suffer from a range of health problems, including higher rates of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease, as well as mental health issues. In order to achieve real change, the government must work in partnership with Indigenous communities to develop policies and programs that are culturally appropriate and responsive to their needs. At the same time, it is important to recognize the strengths and resilience of Indigenous communities. There are many Indigenous individuals and organizations doing important work to improve the lives of their people, and the wider community needs to support and celebrate these efforts. Overall, the government needs to do more to address the ongoing inequality and challenges faced by Indigenous Australians. Without sustained action and commitment to change, the zero result that has dogged previous efforts will likely persist into the future.

Australian Government Gives $1M Aid to Morocco Earthquake Victims
Tumblr media
The Australian Government has announced a significant humanitarian aid package of $1 million to provide emergency assistance to those affected by a catastrophic earthquake in Morocco.
Lifesaving Aid Through Local Organizations
The relief funds will be disbursed through local organizations, including the Red Cross and Red Crescent, to swiftly deliver vital, life-saving aid. This assistance encompasses emergency shelter, crucial first aid, protective measures, and psychological support.
A Global Expression of Sympathy
Australia conveys its deepest condolences to the families and communities grappling with the loss of loved ones and the profound impact on lives and livelihoods in Morocco. Australia stands ready to consider additional requests for assistance as the situation evolves.   Statements from Australian Government Leaders Quote from Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs: “Australians have been deeply moved by the heartbreaking loss of life and destruction of property in Morocco. The Australian Government’s emergency assistance will help deliver crucial supplies to those most in need. Our thoughts are with all those affected, including the Australian-Moroccan community.”   Quote from the Hon Pat Conroy MP, Minister for International Development and The Pacific: “We stand in solidarity with the people of Morocco at this terrible time. This support will help local organizations deliver emergency shelter, medical transport, first aid, protection, and support to affected communities. Australia is ready to respond further as the full impact of this disaster becomes clearer.”   Quote from the Hon Tim Watts MP, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs: “Our thoughts are with the victims of the tragic earthquake in Morocco, their families, and the rescue personnel working hard to save as many lives as possible. The resilience, determination, and belief of the Moroccan people I saw during my visit in December 2022 have been on display to the world in the aftermath of this tragedy.”   Sources: THX News & Minister for Foreign Affairs. Australia Moves Closer in Barley Dispute with China
Tumblr media
The Australian Government has reached an agreement with China that creates a pathway towards resolving the dispute over Australian barley. Since 2020, China’s 80.5% duties on Australian barley have effectively blocked exports to that market, worth about $916 million in 2018-19. The Australian Government has been clear in our view that there is no justification for these duties and that it is in both countries’ best interest for all trade impediments to be removed. Following recent constructive dialogue at all levels, we welcome China’s agreement to undertake an expedited review of the duties over a three-month period, which may extend to a fourth if required. This dialogue has taken place in parallel to Australia continuing to prosecute our national interests through the World Trade Organization. Australia has agreed to temporarily suspend the World Trade Organization dispute for the agreed review period. If the duties are not lifted at the end of the review period, Australia will resume the dispute in the World Trade Organization. The World Trade Organization trade disputes system encourages bilateral resolution where possible. The Australian Government will continue to pursue our national interests through dialogue and the multilateral trading system. We will use all opportunities, including the World Trade Organization dispute mechanism, to get the best outcomes for Australia’s world-class producers and farmers. This includes creating further opportunities for Australian business to diversify overseas markets. We remain confident in the outcome for Australian wine at the World Trade Organization. If today’s agreement is successful in providing a pathway for lifting duties on barley, we expect a similar process to be followed to remove trade barriers for Australian wine. The Albanese Government’s approach has been to cooperate with China where we can, disagree where we must and engage in our national interest. This pathway reflects that approach.   Sources: THX News, Senetor Penny Wong, Senator Don Farrell & Senator Murray Watt. Read the full article

How social media bought about positive change in the Australian society.
Marriage equality and accepting same-sex orientation has been a long-standing political debate in Australia. It is has raised much controversy and doubt over social, religious and moral belief. In 2008, the Rudd government recognised the prejudiced imbalance, passing the ‘Same-Sex Relationship Act,’ ‘Family Law Amendment,’ and the ‘Evidence Act.’ This amendment established same-sex couples as de-fact couples removing many discriminatory government principles, excluding legal recognition to marry. The Parliament of Australia declared that accepting same-sex relationship’s in our society was an ‘‘issue that refused to go away.” (Margarey, K 2010) According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2017), 61.6% allegable voters said YES leaving 38.4% responding NO to the ‘Marriage Law Postal Survey,’ gauging enormous support to be passed through and debated upon in parliament. December 9th, 2017 marked a historic day for Australia when majority of citizens said YES to marriage equality. Statistics measured 133 out of 150 Federal Electoral divisions responded in favour of same-sex marriage. (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2017)
With such a momentous and remarkable occasion in Australian history to date, it is important to identify the passionate influence and engagement behind what bought about this change.
Tumblr media
‘YES Campaign’
‘YES’ was run by Equality Australia, a legal advocacy company with a fervent goal to erase all discrimination and the unwillingness to countenance same-sex marriage. The campaign involved millions of Australians from across the nation, coming together to bring about change for marriage equality. Activists aboard the campaign participated in rally’s, open dialogue, door knocking, and creating documentaries to raise awareness.
The below link is a powerful video developed for the campaign.
youtube
Its strongest presence was through its social media participation including platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Equality Australia stated that as they “reflect back on the campaign, it is wonderful to think that the internet was able to provide a means to reach so many people.” (Equality Australia 2018) ‘YES’ had 16.2k Instagram followers, 293,844 Facebook likes following their page, and a 28.5k Twitter following. Their YouTube presence involved uploading interviews, and short clips of rally’s and other activities activists were undergoing around the nation to promote awareness. These videos would reach been between 18k to 1k views. Social media provided the campaign with new ways of mobilising protest movements and social revolution to influence change for marriage equality in Australia.

What would Jürgen Habermas say?
Habermas’s developed a theory called ‘Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit’ translated into English as ‘The ‘Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere.’ This influential way of understanding media and communication, specially targeted at political agenda was developed upon rise of public opinion in the early 1900’s Europe. Haberman’s describes this public sphere as a “virtual or imaginary community which does not necessarily exist in any identifiable space." (Bruns, A & Highfield, T 2016) This sphere is the realm of public opinion mediating between the state and societies attitudes and beliefs, influenced by social media, traditional and broadcast media, as well as government and academic content.
In relation to the ‘YES’ campaign, societies influence and opinion through social media was after many years powerful enough to enact change in the Australian society. Their influential and prevailing message spread through traditional and broadcast media outlets, altering societies opinion about marriage equality, therefore overriding the states opinion. It is extraordinary to see how much reach they had to influence parliament and the whole of Australia’s decision, bringing about much needed positive change.

#resume #cv #coverletter #coverletters #selectioncriteria #governmentjob #australia #australiangovernment #jobhunting #jobseekers #jobs #jobsearch #lookingforwork #unemployed #jobapplication #employmentwebsite #careergoals #career #changeofcareer #careerchange
Once you have produced a CV that you are pleased with, you have one big advantage over many other job-seekers: you are ready to apply for a job whenever a suitable one comes up. Instead of flying into a panic at the thought of having to prepare all your details, you will be ready to send off your personal introduction to the employer promptly Another great advantage of having an impressive CV to hand is that similar information can be sent to any number of different employers; the only information you need to change is the covering letter that is sent with it. Your CV will be deliberately designed to be suitable for many different situations How do you start to compile an effective CV? Working on a CV of which you are really proud can take a long time. The finished document can be improved on and altered continually, even when you are ready to use it. Making sure that you are including the right information is a time-consuming business initially. All your details need to be listed and then you must be ruthless in weeding out any unnecessary information. A short CV is the only finished product that will be read. Your CV will last your whole career long. It will change and develop as you do,but once written will provide the template that you can adapt as your experience grows and the requirements of the job market change. When the CV is looked at in this light, you can appreciate that it is going to be a very useful investment of your time, effort and writing ability to construct the best document you can. The importance of presentation Once you are happy with the content, the correct presentation of the document can be as challenging a task to attend to. A good CV will speak volumes about the sort of person you are. If you have taken the time to sort out the document properly, you will appear well organized and thorough (useful in any job), and if the CV is well presented, you will look as though you are a person who is careful about details and confident at the same time. Presentation covers more than just the look of the document it also relates to the way you include and order your material. Otherwise good CVs can be ruined by inconsistent layout and illogical order. Your content needs to be organized to make it easy for the reader to follow. It is irritating to have to keep mentally jumping around when reading a CV that repeats information and does not follow on in a sensible layout. It also often means that the CV is longer than it needs to be. A CV is never used on its own, and will always be accompanied by a covering letter. This letter is your opportunity to be specific about exactly how you fit the particular job that you are applying for, picking out the relevant skills, qualifications or experience that you have detailed in your CV Stressing your good points Writing the CV is excellent practice in being assertive about yourself and your achievements. Most people are hopelessly bad at putting their best points forward. We are all more used to being shy and quiet about our assets. https://www.facebook.com/Selectioncriteria/
