The funniest bit of the entire Fire Nation royal family is how stupid some of their decision are, yet somehow they keep working out in their favour?? Like Sozin loses his boyfriend (the Avatar. The one who keeps the balance) by suggesting the Fire Nation goes to war, and then the Fire Nation goes to war anyway. Ozai’s nephew dies in a presumably horrific way and he believes that’s a brilliant moment to ask his dad to make him next in line to the throne, and when that backfires, his wife saves him and their kids and he manages to become Firelord anyway. Iroh decides the best place to lie low and start a life outside of the war is to hide in the city he, personally, laid a 600 day siege on and become a renowned tea maker, and this would’ve worked out had his niece not taken over the city. He also wants tea SO BADLY while on the run that he canonically takes his chances on a potentially incredibly deadly plant (it’s the deadly plant) and he survives. Zuko’s numerous Impulsive and Arguably Bad Decisions that Somehow Work Out Anyway compile into a list so long I’d have to add a readmore to this post. Iroh II proceeds to prove he really is Zuko’s grandson and thinks it a good plan to firepunch a bomb, before deciding to take down a whole squad of airplanes by like, figuring out how to fly one as it’s flying and doing some good firebending to destroy the planes, and he somehow manages to make it work.
Azula appears to be the only one in the family who didn’t get the strong version of the “Make Impulsive and Dumb Plans that can Never Work Out but Do Somehow”-gene (thanks to Ursa’s DNA probably) and she still lost, largely because of elements outside of her control. Imagine being the spawn of the family who fosters all of the ‘best’ traits present in the line (resourceful, highly intelligent, physically powerful) and you still lose to the uncle who thought it brilliant to become popular in a city that hates him and the brother whose plans can all be summed up as “fuck around; find out; success”, because you didn’t plan for something that ended up occurring but you couldn’t ever have expected. I, too, would cry.

rewatching LoK, i'm being reminded how much I dislike the.... the brothers, mako and bolin, yanno? they're such underwhelming characters on basically every level. it'd almost be impressive if they weren't in every episode and didn't annoy me so much ugh
#bean talking into the void#also this show in general is very flawed lol#cool things about it but the choice to structure it more like a#prestige tv show#as in each season follows One Story#is... i wouldn't say it was a bad choice but i feel like you can see the growing pains#switching over from the episodic structure of ATLA#s1 while flawed is solid#it knows what it's trying to do even if it doesn't always stick the landing#season two feels like a season-long filler episode LMFAO#which is hilarious because a lot of world-building stuff happens#but tonally it's all over the place#serious political plots interspersed with the B Plot following Tenzin and his family#on vacation???#so fucking random#but anyway back to roasting the brothers#i find bolin just annoying in general his brand of comedy totally doesn't work for me#but at least he has like#a personality that's consistent#mako is sooooooo blah#the writers have no idea what to do with him and he comes across as having a strikingly boring personality#with no defining traits other than being wishy washy (and a boot licker)#it FEELS like he was meant to remind viewers of Zuko#at least in appearance if nothing else#another broody pretty boy to latch onto#but he has literally nothing interesting to actually get invested in#sure he's got his tragic backstory and he's the 'older brother who took care of his younger brother after their parents died' boo hoo#but that's all just exposition and it's barely shown in a way that feels illustrative or emotional in any way that matters#(other than him comforting bolin in s1 after he KISSES THE GIRL HE KNEW BOLIN HAD A CRUSH ON lmfaoooooo)#(what a good big brother lmfao)

So is no one gonna write a fic where Tighnari's dad comes back from the desert bearing gifts for his son and his family, but said family (Cyno and Collei) didn't know they were known as his husband and daughter respectively? Cyno plays into it to watch Tighnari suffer, and Collei is just :) ? The whole time.
No? I guess I'll have to try and write it myself...

It was basically a full hour of him saying “I’m not like other girls.”
Have you seen Sarcastic Chorus' zutara video yet?
I did. I thought it was a very shallow analysis, tbh. He boiled it down to shippers seeing what they wanted because the aesthetics were intriguing. I could tell he's never actually talked to any Zutara shippers, or read much of the meta content. He didn't need a whole hour for that.

Hello are you still doing the SAGAU for reader gets mad and blowing up at people for certain characters? If you are can you do traveler or Lumine if you don’t want to do a general head cannon and fischl still? I’m so angry about how many NPC world quests that now seem like a pattern of traveler helps and then gets backstabbed and left to die and just really think those NPC need to under stand the gravity and anger of the players.
Hello, @celestialsiren! Yes, supposedly, I am still doing this series lol—I don't see why I should end it, seeing as there's always new characters that people request for. Ofc I'll do the Traveler!
Click Me For Part 1!
Click Me For Part 2!
Click Me For Part 3!
Reader Defending the Traveler! (Also No Vice Versa)
(Disclaimers: This May be OOC, And This Post Will Mainly be Using Lumine as "The Traveler." However, This Post Still Can Be Read as GN!Traveler or Aether.)
Lumine
To be frankly honest, I think you (the Reader) would feel pretty connected to Lumine. She's understanding, she's calm, and most importantly, she gets what it's like not to be from Teyvat. She's passed the celestial atlas to venture the world that is Teyvat, only to be prevented by the Unknown God.
Safe to say, you both were like two peas in a pod. And you were willing to travel with her and find her brother. Lumine gets you a lot, and you refuse any harm coming her way.
That includes verbal complaints. Like, honestly—Lumine's done so much for Teyvat for an outlander, and this is how they treat her?! You weren't having it.
So you planted your foot down, and boy, was your glare menacing. Your words were harsher than the blizzards of Dragonspine, and your glare was as menacing as the Dead Skeleton of Orobashi in Watatsumi Island.
Anyone who you deemed as enemy—in this situation, these good-for-nothing, took-for-granted gossipers—was paling at the seems of the Almighty Creator stomping their egos down. And, not gonna lie, Lumine kinda likes watching some of them. Some of the insults you used were actually used in other worlds—something only Lumine would know, but others didn't. It was kind of hilarious.
Alas, she can't have you go around and go all out all the time. Someone needs to make sure that the Creator doesn't try to decimate random folks, even if they are pretty infuriating.
"Your Grace." Lumine puts her hand on your shoulder. "Let's hurry up and finish this commission. We still need to get those rewards." You huff, but you let the insulters go, without a threatening note.
Yeah...she was not expecting to be an occurrence with so many other characters, but hey! Lumine's not gonna stop you :)

Hi! I would like to know what you think about the Z/tara opinion that using photos and cultural elements of Tibetan monks to create Kataang content is unacceptable behavior? (I sent this question to you and another person whose opinion I am interested in)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1 - Hilarious that they're offended at REAL MONKS having fun just because someone was reminded of Aang. God forbid they're not just meditating all day and are instead still acting as PEOPLE who simply have a spiritual belief they hold dear to their hearts.
2 - Aang might never have "broken" a celibacy vow because we never get confirmation that he ever took one in the first place. It's a work of fantasy that NEVER promised to be super accurate, we can't just assume that (and the whole "Literal last survivor" gives him an out anyway).
3 - Atla fans in general don't get to bitch about "This isn't accurate to this culture" because THE ENTIRE SHOW is about taking pieces of asian cultures, mixing them together, changing stuff, removing stuff, adding stuff, etc. And I'd personally say it's all fine because there's literally not a single work of fantasy that doesn't take up myths, vibes and, yes, even "sacred" elements from a TON of different cultures. Cultural appropriation is a NEUTRAL, inevitable thing because humanity isn't split in secluded islands with no awareness of the outside world. It only becomes bad when it's used for mockery or by someone who wants to pretend to be something they'renot.
4- Zutara fans cannot act like sexualizing tibetan stuff is morally reprehensible when they sexualize the fuck out every culture that inspired the Fire Nation, mainly Japan. Either both are fine or both are disrespectful. Be consistent or shut the fuck up.
5 - There is not a single holy thing that a human being won't look at and go "That's hot." There's a reason porn with priests, nuns, or set in churches are a thing. Freaking mormon porn is a thing. Hijab porn is a thing. For fuck's sake, classic paintings of myths in which the whole point is "This dude saw a goddess naked and was punished horribly for it" or "This nymph is running away from this God that won't take no for an answer" always show off said goddess/nymph's beauty and full nude body because PEOPLE BE INTO HOLY THINGS BEING MADE UNHOLY SINCE FOREVER!
No one is obligated to like it or be comfortable with it, especially when it happens to their own religion, BUT it is downright inevitable. Anything with super strict rules will immediately give people ideas of all the scandalous ways said rules could be broken. That's why we still have period-piece romances in which super normalized things like sex before marriage are obviously treated as taboo again.
NOTHING is too sacred to be sexualized, get over it. Humanity's collective mind is permanently in the gutter, it's in our goddamn nature at this point, and if you claim you're the exception, you're a fucking liar.

I hope Fiona still has General Pollux's eye. I just think that'd be hilarious.
Whatever people she's with come across an old sealed Atlas facility with a retina scanner, they're all brainstorming ways that they can get inside when Fiona just perks up suddenly, reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small container with a perfectly preserved eye inside, while the others just stare at her in varying degrees of horror, and all they hear is "Greetings, General Pollux" as the door successfully slides open.
Bonus points if Athena is there and they get into a mini argument about Athena telling her to throw that thing away because it's weird and everyone else gets to discover she's been carrying it around for YEARS.
(I mean, it's Borderlands they probably have a way to preserve the eye forever right?)

Also listen I just like him so much okay I think he deserves it

He Does not "Fit the Setting Better" than the MCs
There's a fundamentally idiotic claim that the "Only reason" Ironwood was a villain is because he's the only one who acts like he lives in a death world & in a gritter, more "Realistic" series he'd be a hero. To anyone with even a grasp of world building this is patently absurd.
Ironwood does not grasp the world of Remnant better than others, frankly he grasps how it works far less than almost anyone! Negative emotions lure Grimm and yet he perpetually does things that piss off, alienate, scare, or depress large quantities of people.
He's hilariously ill-equipped for the setting that he's in not because its a hope-punk setting, but because he ignores anything that doesn't align with his personal biases. He keeps trying to rely on his army, which even with a bloated runaway budget, is not actually that effective at fighting the Grimm.
Not for tonal reasons, but because Grimm are really fucking strong.
As in, his mechanical soldiers and regular troops can barely kill the lowest tier Grimm when they have them outnumbered & the Grimm pretty much always have the numerical advantage. We see stuff like missiles launched at an approaching horde just get shrugged off thanks to their incredible durability and once the Grimm are inside the city most of Atlas's battleships are useless.
His overarching plan before his total decline into fascism involved sending his already ill-equipped army to three other nations to "restore order" after he causes mass panic by announcing "Hey guys, turns out the horrible death monsters that infest our world have a millennia old boss whose magic and like, super smart, but don't worry we got you!".
Then expecting that not not end in disaster when most other countries don't like or trust Atlas that much. Especially after he bailed on Mistral in Volume 4/5 the moment he suspected there might be an attack, leaving them to wither on the vine, and thus showing how fickle his supposed loyalty to his allies really is.
Oh, he also needs to be reminded scouts exist for a reason, as his default response to a perceived or potential threat is to send his army stomping into the region blindly and just assuming they can muscle their way to victory. & keep in mind, the wilds he wanted to send said army to is where Grimm are and they outnumber his army vastly.
So their numbers would not avail them as they sometimes did in smaller arenas, where said army was backed up by actual Huntsmen and Huntresses, & can thus be useful by playing support. Rather than getting shredded by things way too big, fast and durable for them to easily kill in notable number before being overwhelmed.
Ironwood's not behaving appropriately for the world he lives in, nor is he a man in the wrong genre. He's a man obsessed with military bravado who got drunk on his nations propagandized idea of itself as a place held to a higher standard that helps out the lesser kingdoms and utterly vital to the world. When its usually just blundering around guns blazing and causing problems.
He's not a "General Ripper" type stuck in a sparkly, twee, the power of love setting. He's a self proclaimed four star general who never fought in war, let alone led an army through a war. Who holds an an fannish affection for technology he consistently fails to understand given his shitty grasp of tings like cyber-security.
If he was in a "Grittier" setting, Ironwood would still be a fuck up.
Because Ironwood's issues things like his ego, hypocrisy and a genuine lack of certain skills, with a penchant for paranoid, overly sensitive, over the top reactions that are extremely easy to provoke. Flaws that would not serve him well in any setting, genre or world!

Antis need to stop posting things like this so I don't have to get excited about proving them wrong...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Okay okay... I'm a little too excited over this because it's
So wrong, it's hilarious.
I have been part of this ship since 2005 and I have never, not once, seen anyone ship it for the reasons given above by the silly antis. The show will literally be 20 years old next year. And it's been almost 20 years since I've graduated high school. In all of that time, Aang being bald was never a reason I've seen for not shipping Kat*ang. Or that he was short.
The main reason why we don't ship Kat*ang is because of the writing. At its core, the ship is fundamentally flawed. I mean, there are plenty of metas out there that will explain it from well-educated writers and readers who know a thing or two. I'm not going to say that anyone shouldn't like a ship because of x and y, it's all subjective to a point and it's canon.
But self inserting is not the reason we like Zutara either.
At least not the core reason. It's on the very top of the Zutara Iceberg of reasons why we ship, making it pretty shallow. Again, self-inserting is a universal thing. EVERYONE does it. That means Kat*angers do too. Which is why they defend it so much. Sorry antis, you aren't going to escape my wrath on this very therapeutic way of dealing with your internal struggles.
Appearances do not make a ship what it is. I tend to think that Zutara shippers have a more right brained way of thinking compared to Kat*angers. Zutara shippers generally put a lot of logic in with emotion when talking and writing about the ship vs the other camp that don't seem to think as hard on it. I mean, they don't really have to because yes, the ship (and it is a ship you dummies because it's a relationship) is canon. There is not reason other than that to really put any logic into it other than
It is written!
Like God came down and made the ten commandments of AtLA shipping.
Thou shalt not ship any other character except Canon being the first one.
Excuse me while I take a chisel to that stone and fuck it up.
Thou shalt not tell other people what to ship.
Everyone is free to have their opinions, but assuming that people do what they do because of 'self inserting' and 'attraction' being your main reason to go after a creative group without actually talking to them on a civil level is just...
Well it makes you look like an idiot.
I mean that with the deepest of respect (even though I understand why people ship Kat*ang and don't single them out for it) and humbleness.
But stop making posts that don't make sense. I have way too much fun with them.

This morning my brain decided it was very important to decide what all the ATLA character’s specialties would be if they were characters on Grey’s Anatomy. Which I’m sure has been done a million times before but - my turn. Here we go:
Sokka: Neuro. Of course. Fussiest profession he can find.
Katara: General surgeon and she’s the Chief of Surgery, obviously.
Aang: Peds. He sees the most heartbreak and shares the most smiles.
Toph: if she weren’t blind it would be Ortho, but since she can’t be a surgeon she’s our tough love (but also incredibly empathetic) social worker.
Suki: Ortho
Zuko: Peds, to his father’s disappointment. It’s hilarious when he and Aang round together. Especially good with babies.
Azula: Cardio, the family profession. Known as the best surgeon with the worst bedside manner.
Mai: Neuro or General, either way she is permanently exasperated by a water tribe sibling
Ty Lee: Plastics, so everyone thinks she’s shallow but of course she’s not and does amazing reconstructive work
Iroh: a former Cardio surgeon, now runs the hospital tea shop
Ozai: former Cardio surgeon, now owns the hospital (evil admin)
The End.

I have a theory. A Book Nerd Theory.
So. In the Percy Jackson series and Greek myths, in the afterlife there are many possible ways to get past the River of Styx and into The Realm of Hades (or the Underworld in general, death by naturallity); Fields of Bliss, Asphodel, Tartarus, The Fields of Punishment, (unmentioned, but part of the actual Greek mythological accuracy) and the Field of Mourning. In Bliss, you can try to reincarnate five times to go to where the truly best of the best go to: The fields of Elysium, the best place to spend your Greek afterlife.
This is a cross section analysis of the Percy Jackson series and EPIC: The Musical; both of which were inspired by Greek myths and, more specifically, Homer's The Odyssey (AKA an EPIC adventure).
This contains spoilers for the new saga for EPIC: The Musical and Percy Jackson and The Olympians, by the way.
So, when we first meet Annabeth, one of the wisest demigod children of Athena at Camp Half-Blood, she is taking care and looking over Percy in the infirmary/Apollo cabin after he got into the fight with the Minotaur. One of the first and most memorable things she says to Percy is that he talks in his sleep.
In EPIC: The Musical, Odysseus (aka "Ody") has just sacrificed the remaining member of his crew to Zeus to appease Helios for killing Helios' best friends/prize cattle, and after Zeus launches a lightning bolt into the ship and Ody is incapacitated and drifts onto a lone, unfindable island named Ogygia. Ogygia is the unfindable island where the sorceress -and daughter of the titan, Atlas- Calypso is held prisoner, where any man that drifts onto her shores, she is permitted to marry until the gods decide that the man's punishment has been dealt with and is permitted to go onto a boat that goes to any part of the ocean at random and the Ogygia disappears into a new location.
After Calypso wakes Ody up, she comments that she thought he was dead until she managed to wake him up. She also commented that Ody talks in his sleep, saying (singing, whatever), "Did you know you talk in your sleep? Tell me though, who's Penelope?" as he starts to get his bearings and observes his surroundings. Annabeth And Percy meet in a similar fashion.
Instead of asking Percy "who's Penelope," she instead comments, rather bluntly, on how Percy drools in his sleep. I'm joking, though, not about how they first met... Well not Annabeth and Percy anyways.
When Calypso and Percy meet after getting spewed out of a volcano, also on the verge of death, a bit after Calypso wakes Percy up, saying, "‘You talk in your sleep... [Response from Percy]. Who is Annabeth?’
You see where I'm going with this? Probably lol.
But like, think about it, Ody started in Greece made it to Rome and succeeded in destroying Troy.
Percy started from a form of Greece, crossed the Mediterranean (Mare Nostrum), and slowed the progress of Gaia (while destroying most of Rome and getting sent to Tartarus, but that's not important right now).
Also, EPIC: The Musical Odysseus never (technically) cheats on Penelope, and Percy never (technically on purpose) cheats on Annabeth, despite many distractions for a very good looking teen of his age (I am around his age, shut up, I'm allowed to say that).
Also, Annabeth can be reincarnated Penelope, but there's not as much evidence to support that than Percy being Ody.
Also, think of Odysseus, the person Poseidon absolutely DESPISED with a watery passion, being his favorite son in a different life is absolutely hilarious to me lmao
@lemedstudent2021 I have a feeling you'd love this absolutely deranged rant of me connecting four pieces of three different puzzles.

Hi! Sorry to bother, but I was wondering if you had anything you'd be willing to share about the atla au about Inumaki or Nanami that aren't spoilers? I loved the toge/yuuta art you did so much, and Nanami being an earthbender is so cool. This au seems incredible!!
from sam fr u with love ! managed to wring it out of them before they fell asleep sdgfh enjoy the transcript <3
inumaki: 1. he uses sign language to communicate, which slips through a loophole in the vow he took to not use his voice 2. he has been mistaken for a spirit by some locals who caught glimpses of him walking through the woods in the late evening/early night hours. thinking it's hilarious, he has started to act more "spirit-like" on his walks just to feed into the theory
nanami: he was so deeply affected by a specific event (spoilers) that he left behind the prestige and accolades of being the most skilled earthbender of his generation and instead took up a position as a professor in a small city in the southern part of the earth kingdom

I need distraction too. Uhhhh. Favorite episodes of ATLA and why???
Oh it’s been a minute since I’ve talked about ATLA on here but I’m always glad to go back to my roots lol
(And anything to stop myself from breaking down and sobbing in my dorm room at this point tbh)
As an Azula girlie, The Beach was always my favorite episode and continues to be. It was what cemented her as my favorite character, the episode that really revealed her depth and began to hint at her trauma. I’d always loved seeing her on screen, since she was such a fun and charismatic villain, but this was the episode where I really started to understand her and she really won me over. All of the other Fire Nation teens have awesome character development here as well, stuff I wish had been explored more. Azula’s development in the finale was also fascinating, but I always struggle to watch that without feeling horribly sad.
Any episodes that deal with Katara’s duality are favorites of mine, because she’s such an interesting character in that she has equal capacity for immense compassion and immense rage. I loved The Puppetmaster and The Southern Raiders for this reason - they showcase Katara’s less pure and pretty side, and I love that the show’s female main character gets to do that and still be the hero. (Not saying that there’s anything wrong with what Katara did in these eps, but her actions are very much contrary to “good girl” stereotypes which is awesome!)
Any episode in the Ba Sing Se arc is also a favorite of mine. The unraveling conspiracy there and general sense of mystery and dread really played into my personal tastes, and this was definitely the arc I found the most intriguing and unpredictable, ESPECIALLY the ending. The fact that the show had the guts to literally kill Aang (even temporarily) and end the season on that note is highly commendable.
Also shout out to The Ember Island Players - it’s just hilarious lol
Thanks for the ask - we’ll get through this❤️
