hello how are you it if my first time asking but what do you think it would be like if white beard had a daughter and she went on shanks crew like he haven’t seen his daughter for years and then he see her on shanks crew
also I love you writing you my favvvv
Imagine being Whitebeard's daughter on Shanks's crew
A mildly naughty bit under the undercut. Also, I'm having to change how I indicate action, instead of using Asterix *, I'm going to change them to [ ].
Marco: Pops, Shanks's ship is on the horizon, signaling they wanna talk-yoi.
Whitebeard: [rolls his eyes,] Fine let him aboard.
As the Red Force is pulling itself parallel to the Moby Dick
Whitebeard: [spots you working on the rigging] (y/n)?!
You: dukes [knows you're going to be in trouble, so you try to duck into the galley to avoid him]
Whitebeard: Young Lady, I fucking saw you, don't try to hide from me! Come here.
You: [shuffles in front of him] Hi Pops
Izou: oi, oi, don't go getting familiar with him.
Whitebeard: [holds up his hand] No, it's okay, this one is my biological child.
Ace: You have a bio kid? Why didn't you tell us!?
Whitebeard: I was trying to keep her safe, [turns to you and gives you a pointed look,] which is why I left you on Sphinx, where it's safe.
You: It was boring, so I snuck aboard the supply ship, that you send us every month, and hopped out at the nearest port.
Whitebeard: That supply ship is captained by Doma!
Thatch: Shall I go draft a summons letter sent to him?
Whitebeard: yes, thank you. [Turns back to you,] You should have stayed on Sphinx. Yes, it's boring, but that's because it's peaceful. Do you have any idea how rare and valuable peace is? Why would you leave?
You: Because I wanted more! I wanted to see the world! I wanted to fight strong opponents! Because I'm your kid!
Marco: [mutters loud enough for Whitebeard to hear.] Personality is fifty percent genetic.
Whitebeard: [Ignores him.] I understand that... urge to see the world. But why him! [Jabs a finger in Shank's direction]
Shanks: What's wrong with me?
Benn: [pats his captain's head] We've been wondering that for years.
You: He makes me laugh.
Shanks: [puffs up his chest with pride and cheekily sticks his tongue out at Benn]
Whitebeard: Please tell me you aren't in love with this misfit.
You: Sorry, I can't help who I fell in love with, [shrugs.] He makes me happy, and he treats me well.
Yassop: [yells from the deck of the Red Force] That's an understatement! He spoils her rotten, and she gets first dibs on any treasure we get. And he buys her anything she wants.
Whitebeard: [rubs his chin thoughtfully] First dibs, huh?
You: I also send funds home, back to Sphinx.
Whitebeard: I suppose I'll allow it, then.
That evening
The Crews: [have somehow started a boat party]
Shanks and Whitebeard: [chatting around a table ladened with food]
You: Daddy, will you pass the rum?
Shanks and Whitebeard: [reach for it, accidentally touch hands, and lock eyes]
the crews: ʱªʱªʱª(ᕑᗢूᓫ∗)
Shanks: (☼Д☼) !! *Books it for his ship*
Whitebeard: [hot on his heels] AKAGAMI!
Marco: wow
Benn: That was a mean thing to do, (y/n).
You: ଘ(✿˵•́ ω •̀˵) ? I didn't do anything, [lying].

Alternate universe time, lemme dump real quick
WW2 au was on the brain, so I did a couple clean ups to my Obelix design so that he matched my Asterix a little better- In this I think he'd be like an actual post delivery person, sending supplies to and fro (since he's the only one able to go out due to his strength). I did base this one a little on Obelis'h and mixed the old design in there. Haven't settled on anything for Asterix just yet or what he does-
But then I thought...
w h y s t o p t h e r e -
Theres TONNES of au tropes that could be done with Asterix (i say, rubbing my damn hands together like a fruit fly) So ummmmm,,, here are the most popular aus I could find but with the Asterix twist ^^
I scribbled these all in an afternoon, smite me whenever- I'll most likely never touch these again bc lowkey I don't want that stress. Ily Asterix
Genderbent/Rule 63
Comma & Monolita (genderswap) In the year 50bc, Julia Caesar has conquered the entirety of Gaul with her Roman army. Almost. The only place she hasn't managed to touch is the little Gaulish village towards the coast, home to the indomitable gauls. Thanks to the great druid Spoonfulofsuga, the gauls drink a magic potion that gives them superhuman strength, allowing them to consistently push back Caesars army with ease. The greatest of these Gaulish warriors are best friends Comma, a small but very skilled gaul who uses her wits to get herself out of any sticky situation, and Monolita, a large but well meaning menhir deliverer with incredible strength due to her falling into the cauldron of magic potion as a baby. These two are often sent off by their Chief Criticaldata to carry out tasks and go on adventures in distant lands before returning home to a feast of roast boar, cooked by the men of the village.
By Toutatis, turns out a lot of Genderbent Asterix stuff exists but still, its one of the most popular so gave it a shot in my own way. Dude, thinking of the names is so much fun. Plus female obelix has my heart uaua.
Role/Personality swap
Obeswix & Asterswix (Roleswap) In the year 50bc, Thea Cleopatra has conquered the entirety of Gaul. Almost. The only place she hasn't managed to touch is the little Gaulish village towards the coast, home to the invincible gauls. Thanks to the great druid Valueaddedtax that grants them invulnerability, allowing them to resist Cleopatras armies and send them running back to where they came from. The greatest of these Gaulish warriors are best friends Obeswix, the largest but also the smartest gaul in the village able to use both his size and skill to his advantage, and Asterswix, a clumsy but kind hearted gaul with a temper whenever anyone points out his size and permanent invulnerability due to him falling into the cauldron of invulnerability potion as a baby. These two have incredible chemistry with each other and are often sent off by their Chief to carry out tasks or go on adventures in distant lands before returning home to a feast of roast boar.
The titular bitchular, if anyone gets this far and says undertale. YEAH HI I THINK UNDERTALE IS COOL. Yk those three/four swaps are the ones I thought of. I think Valuaddedtax and his potion would be cool to explore
like, cmon. Be real, this is lowk sick too
Bizzaro/Mirror-verse
Brackix ⅋ Gigantix (Fell/dark twisted glimse into my fucked up mind that would simply make one go insane lmao this is all a joke) In the year 50bc, Julius Caesar has ordered a full scale invasion of Amorica, claiming each new country as his own with his roman army. That is until he and his army arrived to the last standing gaulish village, home to the irascible gauls. To Caesar's surprise, the village, that he assumed was filled with defenceless gauls, was filled with hulking monsters with super strength that quickly decimates Caesars armies. Instead of fleeing, this greatly intrigues Caesar- If his legion can take down a village of superhuman gauls, not only would he have fully conquered Amorica, but finding the root of these gauls power would give him the strongest army throughout the world. Unbeknownst to him, the source of this power is from a potion, one brewed by the druid Supatoxix, that grants the user super strength at the cost of making them mindless hulking masses of destruction. There's often lots of brutal violence in the gaulish village and not everyone gets along with one another, especially the strongest fighters. These would be Brackix, a caniving and sarcastic but the smartest gaul in the village that often views those around him are dumber than he is, and Gigantix, a stonefaced beast with a pure heart who (after following a young Brackix's advice to stand up to his childhood bullies by breaking into the druid's hut to steal some potion) accidently fell into the cauldron of potion as a baby and has permanently been stuck as a towering monster. As the village deems that Gigantix's condition is Brackix's fault, he's often seen taking care of him, as any negative outburst from Gigantix would be negatively reflected onto Brackix. Otherwise, these two would often be sent out by their chief to scope the encompassing areas for Romans and the first chance to knock the tyrant out of commission.
Summoned all the writing skills back from when I was like 7 for this one. Ngl, kinda interesting??? Tho lowkey I prefer the cartoony bonking and paffing of Romans to actually take this one seriously Whatever ^^ I DID SOMETHING AND IT SHOULD BE ARRIVING NEXT WEEK, AND IF IT TURNS OUT WELL I MIGHT DO SOME MORE. Fingers crossed (yes it it asterix related). I need to draw Caesar BADLY ALSO I READ ASTERIX AND OBELIX ALL AT SEA?? what the FART? MY BABY IS STRESSED THE FUCK OUT THROUGHOUT, HAD MYSELF STRESSED AND IK ALL THE COMICS END THE SAME BUT I WAS STILL STRESSED TF OUT. spongebob rollercoaster image but ngl I genuinely was stressed in the first half
Juicy lore mmhmm yes yes. The them appreciation panel for today

Bro look at this frame. I still can’t believe mr. Servecuntix here is a real canon character. How did someone just enter the writer’s room and went like hey guys you know what our new Astérix le Gaulois™️ movie needs? TOXIC OLD MAN YAOI. And then they just made the BEST Asterix Villain Of The Week BY A LANDSLIDE. Not that the villains from the comic are bad, not at all, but none of them aside from Caesar were as cool and threatening as this guy. This movie truly feels like a fanfic in the best way possible I love it so much
#will rewatch it soon so i needed to get my truth out#like am i just overhyped for him or do yall see my vision?#asterix the secret of the magic potion#asterix the gaul#asterix le galois#asterix and obelix#Sulfurix#demonix#panoramix#getafix#tagging him bc hes in this post in spirit as the other half of Said toxic old man yaoi

Someone has been sticking these printed papers on small local businesses that are closing down as a result of gentrification in Barcelona (Catalonia's capital city, greatly affected by touristic massification and the gentrification it brings). They're written in the Catalan language, so here I translate them to English for you:
2 world wars, 1 civil war, bombs, the 40 years "facing the sun" [=first line of the anthem of Spain during the Francoist dictatorship], 9 popes, 15 times Real Madrid won the Champions League, 2 pandemics. It has survived everything except speculation.
Maybe 10,000 bucks for rent was a little teeny tiny bit too much, wasn't it? Maybe. I'm not saying it was. I'm just saying: maybe.
If they open a Starbucks or something like that, I'm cutting off my dick. Bring back Versalles [convenience store]!
*A picture of Asterix and Obelix hitting two Roman soldiers. Asterix and Obelix are labelled Nou Barrix and Palomarix as a joke of Gaulish-sounding names for the working class neighbourhoods of Nou Barris and Sant Andreu del Palomar. The Roman soldiers are labelled "the fucking gentrification".*
My great-grandma used to come for coffee here, now she's asking me to do this from the Other Side. You'll understand that I'm so scared that I'm shitting myself and I must continue doing it (one can't say no to a great-grandmother)
Gràcia and Poblenou [two neighbourhoods of Barcelona that have gotten very gentrified by tourists] started like this and now not even their mother would recognise them.
Photos from Et felicito fill.

A New World: part 7
Bayverse!Leonardo x reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 / Part 8
A/N: Before I start packing for my mama’s, I thought I would give you a little something to enjoy yourselves with until I’m back, so here you go💙
Leo is 25, reader is 22 - 23.
Warnings: Hypothetical situation with brain injury, awkward flirting for information?
The next day (Y/N) did exactly as she told Leonardo she would do, and went down to the comic book store. The store she had just visited yesterday.
That morning (Y/N) and Leo eat breakfast together, with the silence almost as thick as yesterday. However, this time it wasn’t as strange or as uncomfortable. There just wasn’t anything to say. Just silence with no strange look. Leo had a lot to think about from last night, his mind still running with the flashes of himself in different universes. Different universes - he still couldn’t believe it. Maybe he should pinch himself, just to make sure that he wasn’t dreaming. Just like he had pretty much been mentally pinching himself over and over again, ever since he first got here. Maybe this is what happens when you hit your head against the road, after you’ve been flung off the top of a skyscraper. Maybe he was on a stretcher with Donatello looking over him, doing his best to keep his vitals stable. Maybe he was in the needle room right now, and the girl before him was nothing but a figment of his own imagination. Maybe he had made up the whole thing about different dimensions, living through a fever dream while his body was trying its absolutely best to keep him alive.
Or maybe this was reality. Maybe this was all true. The multiverse was real, and here he was nothing but a fictional character in another world. It still had him baffled, unsure of his feelings. And for once, Leo felt like he didn’t have full control of himself nor his surroundings. Whatever was going to happen was all out of his hands.
Though Leonardo didn’t speak much that morning, he flashed (Y/N) a few smiles whenever he noticed her looking at him. Which were many times. Just like Leo had many thoughts roaming his head, so had she. Just like he had a hard time getting to grips with the reality of what was happening, she was still trying to convince herself that all of this was real. That the ninja turtle Leonardo - not just any version of Leonardo, but the Bayverse version - was sitting at her dining table, eating the breakfast she had made for him. That was… that was still being processed.
When (Y/N) got ready to leave, Leo sat himself back in the living room, staring at the stack of DVD’s in front of him, tempting him once more. The thought of him, across several different dimensions, still tickled something inside of him. A curiosity that Leo just couldn’t let to rest. So many years of training to control himself, and now Leo found himself itching to get a further look at the DVD’s in front of him. But was that a smart idea? Leo couldn’t help but wonder, if maybe it would do more harm than use. But he just couldn’t help that unshakeable curiosity that kept growing within him.
So when (Y/N) then called out that she was leaving, followed by the sound of the front door closing and locking, Leo quickly grabbed a hold of the nearest DVD, before making his way towards the DVD player. Maybe he should settle his continued curiosity while he was alone… What else was he supposed to spend his time doing?
—
(Y/N) followed the route she used yesterday, until she found herself standing out in front of the comic book store, the large glass doors towering above her, with the windows showcasing the several different action figures and franchises sold within. Marvel, DC, Tintin, Asterix and Obelix, TMNT and much more. This place had become her second home at this point. A familiar place that seemed to always bring her comfort. But this time, the comfort was replaced by a slight nervousness, her heartbeat in the bottom of her throat, as she thought how she was going to go about the whole thing.
(Y/N) pushed open the glass doors before walking into the shop, happy to see that nobody batted an eye at her entering. They never did, so she wasnøt sure why today would be any different. Not even the clerk sitting behind the counter. He was too busy fighting to stay awake in his chair to even notice anything. His glasses sliding further and further down his nose with every slow nod of his head. Yet he might be the help she needed…
“Heeeeey”, (Y/N) said as she walked up to the tired man at the counter, julting him awake. He shot her a confused yet sleepy look, but never moved from his resting position in his chair behind the counter.
“Hello?”, he answered, looking very confused as if he wasn’t on the job.
“So, I have this very strange question from a friend, who is really into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but he is - you know - very much like Leo - if that makes sense - and doesn’t really like to ask for help”, (Y/N) said, the man behind the counters expression only getting more confused. “He doesn’t even know I’m doing this for him”, she smiled, trying her hardest to sound natural about it. “He wants to know, if there ever has been a time where the turtles have been able to travel through dimensions, without the help of a second party?”
The guy behind the count stared at her for a minute, before finally moving from his chair, leaning against the counter with a small smile, sounding as tired as ever.
“Listen here, Sweetpea, you don’t have to lie, I know what you’re doing”, he said, pushing his glasses further up his nose. (Y/N) felt her heart jump from the bottom of her throat to the very top, the cold running down her back. There was no way he knew. He couldn’t know. There was just no way he could know she had one of the mutant turtles hiding in her apartment.
“You don’t have to lie about a friend. There is nothing wrong with wanting a nice friendly discussion with another nerd. Even for a good looking girl like you”, he finished with a tired smug smile.
Well, if that was the way (Y/N) was going to get some answers, then that was the way. Even if it was a little strange.
“You got me”, she said, playing into it. “I’m just still not used to talking about it with anybody out in the open”.
“I figured”, the guy said with the same smug smile. “I’ve seen you walk around in here so many times, yet rarely buy anything. And I tell you, it is not hard to notice when beauty walks through those doors”. Okay. (Y/N) wasn’t going to lie, that last part was a little weird. “So what did you want to ask about again?”
“Well, I’ve kind of wondered, if there ever has been a time, where the TMNT could travel through dimensions without the help of Leo’s sword in ROTTMNT, or any other beings from ROTTMNT for that matter, Krang, Shredder, the Daimyo's son and Draco, Renet, that time guy from 2003, professor Honeycutt, any alien race, master Splinter and the battle Nexus, the ninja tribunal, or that weird thing April’s uncle had in the 2003 series?”
The guy behind the counter stood for a minute, processing the big ramble of words that just had come out of her mouth. He looked up, brows close together, thinking. Like really thinking, as if he knew exactly what (Y/N) was talking about, before finally looking back at her.
“Not that I’m aware of, no”.
(Y/N) sighed, looking down at her feet. “Great…” How were you going to help Leo now?
“Well, if you want, I can look into it for you”, the guy said. “There’s probably something I have overlooked”.
“What? Really? Is that a service you provide?”
“For the right price, we do”, the guy smiled while looking something up on his computer.
“What’s the price?”
“Well, according to my calendar, a date with me next friday”.
Oh god. Flirting for information was one thing, but this was not something (Y/N) was interested in doing.
“You know what?”, (Y/N) said while taking a few steps backwards towards the door, continuously throwing glances towards it. “I think my friend might actually know the answer after all”. And with those words, she was out the door.
“Okay, but if you change your mind, you know where you can find me!”, he yelled after her as she left, watching as she disappeared beyond the glass. Slumping back in his chair, he went back to his tired posture as before. “Become a store manager, Darron, she said. They girls love it, she said. Thanks a lot mom”.

So I made a Taurus x Sun fanchild and since @gummysunnybear wants to know more here some info
- His name is Asterix.
- He looks a lot like Taurus but personality wise he's a lot like Sun but still has emotional traits of Taurus.
- No one was pregnant! Asterix was born from Taurus and Sun mixing each other's magic and or life force together to make Asterix. (still figuring this part out)
- When Asterix's horns were growing he hit his head everywhere. Mostly on chairs and Lunar (lol). One time Asterix hit his crib one to many times and Sun put little tennis balls on his head. (Asterix did not like that)
- Asterix is technically speaking the younger brother of Dazzle.
- Here's a run down on how the family found out:
After Sun and Taurus mixed each other's magic together it caused a huge power outage (they were in the forest as to not hurt any people nearby). The family noticed that Sun and Taurus were gone and they decided go look for them.
Gemini was the first one to find them and found Taurus sitting on the forest floor, a very tired and weakened Sun laying against Taurus with his arm around him and in Taurus' other hand was a blanket bundle.
Gemini tries to ask Taurus what had happened but Taurus gestured for them to be quiet and looked down at the blanket in his arm.
And in that blanket was little baby Asterix, sleeping peacefully in his father's arms.
So small and frail but yet held such unimaginable power.
(I'm a bit to tired to write how the family part)
This is all I have for now hope you liked Asterix and if you have any ideas on how he was born tell me!
If you have any questions please put them in the comments or in my ask box! I'll happily answer!
And if you'd like you guys can make fan art on Asterix! Or write about him!
Edit: I AM MAKING TAURUS A GOOD DAD! AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME!

Trailer Analysis of Asterix & Obelix The Big Fight (Part 3) : Theorical Plot
Part 1
Part 2
One month from now, we’ll finally be able to watch Asterix & Obelix : The Big Fight!
In the previous posts, we have seen what will be present in the Big Fight: some elements will be familiar, while other will be original to the show.
Now that we have all these cards in hand, what can we expect from the actual series? There will be five episodes of 30 min : what story can be told in 2h30 ?
This is the part where I speculate about the possible plot: I might be wrong, and I hope the show will still be able to surprise me in good ways. I'm curious to hear your own theories, but first, let's dig into mine!
Set Up : The Year is 50 BC…
(RIP Pierre Tchernia et ta voix inoubliable de narrateur des films Astérix)
I think it's safe to assume the first episode will serve to introduce the main characters, the initial situation and the general mood of the show.
Of course, we’ll get to meet once again with our dear old Gauls and show them in their natural environment: living, laughing, beating up Romans for fun.
We’ll probably be introduced to the depressed Roman centurion we see here and there in the trailers, serving as the poor hapless victim of the Gauls’ shenanigans, and demonstrating the might of the magic potion in a big fun battle.
In the meantime (or even before that), we’ll certainly be introduced to Metadata and her boss, working on finding the best idea for the triumph of Caesar. Metadata learns (and serves as the exposition fairy) the situation of: Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely…etc etc you know the pitch.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Metadata scene has someone talk about how monstrous and barbarous the Indomitable Gauls are, and then the scene cutting to the village being very silly. Like the fish scene
All of this could take place in the first episode ; but it’s also probable this could be spread out on two episodes, especially with the upcoming situation...
Inciting Incident : Menhir Ahoy!
It's no surprise to anyone who knows the story, the plot gets kicked off by two events influencing each other : first, the Romans want to have Ceramix challenge Vitalstatistix to a duel and need to put all their chances on their sides, thus capturing Getafix and remove the magic potion. Secondly, because of that plan, Getafix gets attacked by Romans in the forest and Obelix throws his menhir at him, causing Getafix to lose his mind, thus putting the entire village in a very grave situation.
But I am also convinced we’ll have a third plot-kicker: Vitalstatistix’s birthday.
There’s a couple of moments in the trailers where the Gauls are feasting, and we can see some gift-looking objects there. And in The Chieftain’s Shield, it’s after a particularly festive banquet that Vitalstatistix gets his liver issues. Who knows, maybe it’ll be thematically connected to him getting back in shape to defeat Ceramix?
So I think the Inciting Incident will combine these three elements:
Metadata tells Caesar about the Big Fight because the mosaic idea didn’t please him and Potus was getting aggressive about it. Caesar is enthralled by the idea and tasks Potus AND Metadata with this plan.
Meanwhile, in the village, the Gauls just finished celebrating Vitalstatistix’ birthday, but it caused him health issues; Getafix orders him to go on a trip for a cure, and while Vitalstatistix and Impedementa pack up, Getafix goes into the forest for some ingredients. Maybe Asterix and Obelix follow a bit later because he forgot something, or maybe they go hunting at the same time.
Either on Caesar’s orders or by sheer coincidence, the Romans near the village are on a mission to capture the druid; I think the events play pretty much identically to the comic, with the Romans disguising themselves as trees and shrubs, ambushing the druid, Asterix and Obelix running to the rescue, Obelix shooting the menhir, Getafix getting knocked out, Asterix and Obelix bringing him back to the village and nursing him until he wakes up… and everyone learns he’s now cray-cray.
Plot Point : Ceramix's Recruitment
After the plot gets kicked off, I think we'll be introduced to Ceramix by episode 2 or 3, not further.
Potus and Metadata visit him and we get to learn about his personality and political opinion : he's very strong, a brute who forces his villagers to follow Roman customs or get beaten, and prompt to show his loyalty and obedience to the Noble Conquerors.
I fully expect the gag of Ceramix boasting about beating any Gaul chief to be slightly expanded in a sequence where he rips off his tunic and breaks things around...before freaking out as he learns WHO is his opponent. But obviously he'll be convinced : either Getafix has already lost his mind, either Potus promises Ceramix the magic potion won't be an issue.
@scribeprotra raised a very interesting point in one of my previous posts : while Caesar savors the idea of the Gauls becoming Romans, Metadata insists on the term "Gallo-Roman". Now, this could be a throwaway gag, or it could be that she sincerely thinks, at least at first, that Gauls assimilated to Rome have a good way of life, that Gallo-Roman culture is the future and so, she doesn't see a reason for the Gauls to keep resisting. If that's the case, the visit to Ceramix' village could be a cold reality check to what Gallo-Romans actually live like, when they're forced to cast away their culture and embrace the Roman culture...
Of course, I might be reading too much into this. But an important theme of the original comic (and the Asterix franchise as a whole), despite its light tone, is the danger imperialism poses to one's culture, whether by cultural assimilation or enforced erasure.
But whether she wants it or not, the plan marches forward, the challenge is issued officially and the village has to face the music...
Plot Point : The Arena and the Council
Now unsurprisingly, I think the arena will be central to the second and third act of the show.
Caesar and his lackeys will spare no expense for the spectacle of the Gaul's defeat. It's meant to be a big mediatic buzz, topped with Antiquity-equivalent of news shows. Probably also why we get a glimpse of Cleopatra. And of course, the big traveling fair mentioned in the previous parts of this analysis.
But before the actual fight takes place (and we know it's soon before the fight, since a legionary comes to fetch the Gaul chief for the Big Fight), the village gathers under a willow in a village council.
What is the point of this council ? I see two possibilities of subjects, and they might be connected :
the madness of the druid, and its consequences on the village
the Big Fight, and whether Vitalstatistix is up to the taks. I'm leaning toward this option because it might look like Fulliautomatix is talking himself up. Maybe trying to sway the council into making him fight instead of Vitalstatistix who is too out of shape for the challenge?
Whatever it is, it seems that by the end, the Gauls gather around their chief : to give him their support, maybe?
In any case, once Vitalstatistix steps into the ring, it will be time for the...
Climax : What The Heck Is Going On ??
For obvious reasons, not much is revealed in the trailers about the third act/climax of the show. But one thing is (90%) sure : the victory won't be as easy as in the comic.
In the comic (and in the climax of the animated Big Fight), thanks to a deus ex machina Getafix drinking one of his own potions, he miraculously recovers just in time to prepare enough magic potion for everyone (since Asterix & co except, and rightfully so, for the Romans to play foul even if Vitalstatistix wins). Hearing about Getafix' recovery, Vitalstatistix, who up until that point had been wearing Ceramix down by running in circles, gets a second wind and knocks Ceramix down with one punch.
In the trailers of the show, there's a detail I noticed and that is...we don't see any details of the fight. And especially not Vitalstatistix. Not even a half-second shot of a punch that would makes us wonder about the fight. So we have no idea of how it will actually play out. Will Vitalstatistix play the long game like in the comic and focus on wearing Ceramix down? Will he try to fight upfront and be confronted to the difficulty of no magic potion to help him out?
We just don't know. But what do we know?
The fight takes place at night, with highlits of red and dark, giving a more intense atmosphere to the situation.
There's seemingly an attack on the village (and of course it's Asterix's hut that takes the brunt of it). Okay, to be fair, the attack seems to takes place at dusk rather than night....
Dogmatix is with Mrs Geriatrix and Impedimenta. Which means that neither Obelix, neither Astérix (who's usually Dogmatix's minder if Obelix isn't available) are present. In the comic, Obelix is staying at the village out of guilt during the fight, but he still had Dogmatix with him. What motivated him to leave his beloved pup with other people?
There's a movement of troops. I would bet on the same attempt at backstabbing as in the comic
Okay, that one is a big shock : Obelix gets punched out and sent flying several meters away??! Who is strong enough to inflict that on Obelix of all people ?? We can distinguish a crowd in front of the village, with certainly the puncher being in it. Someone might have had access to magic potion, but then who? Another hint is the burning village around Obelix ; definitely connectiong this moment to the hut being destroyed.
Asterix walks throught the arena crow and looks pretty worried. Could be explained rather easily by Vitalstatstix getting his ass beat in the first part of the fight, and Asterix knowing he can't do anything about it. Ooooor it could be a detail he learned/noticed that could drastically change the outcome for the worst. And speaking of Asterix...
"Ista, you reused the same screenshot twice in a post!" First of all that's not from the same trailer, second of all this is my absolute fave shot of the whole promotion and I do what I want. It's not secret to anyone knowing me that I LOVE situations in which Asterix has to actually use his warrior skills, and here it seems like it's a Serious situation : dramatic lighting, very serious expressions, an aggressive antagonist, and I'm DYING to see the context of that scene. Did Asterix learn something and Potus is trying to stop him? Did Caesar finally order the capture of the Gauls and this is the last stand? Alain Chabat, I can forgive you a lot of liberties with Asterix because you make good jokes but if this scene ends up being a cheap gag, I will never forgive you.
And that's the last part of my trailer analysis for the Big Fight! If you have any more details to add, feel free to reply or rant in your tags!
As for me, these trailers did a perfect job of titillating my interest and making me impatient for the show! Can't wait to watch it!

Stone Circles in France
Something I have wanted to talk about more ever since the first trailer dropped about a month ago, is the stone circle near Machecoul, that seems to play somewhat a big role in Maria's life.
We first meet Richter and Maria at the stone circle, and in season 2 we learn that she learned magic there. This is why Tera takes her there to try to control her magic once more.
So, obviously you might ask: "Why are there old stones in a circle somewhere in France?"
As a European of course, I have grown up with the Asterix comics, and hence my mind just went: "Oh, yeah, they are there because of the Galls. Duh." Though then I did some google-fu and found out that it is not quite that easy.
So, let's talk about Celts and stones.
As I spoke about yesterday: We have sadly super little information about the celts and their precursors, because the colonialization within Europe (partly through the Romans, partly through other groups) has mostly just erased most what was once known of this mostly oral culture. We know a bit about the Gaels in Ireland and Scotland (mind you: We also know that the Gaels in Ireland were not exactly the same as those in Scotland), but for everyone else we know a couple of legends that survived as oral history for long enough that someone who thought it important to record it. Part of the reason in fact that the Gaels managed to hold onto more than anyone else is that they had secret Bard Colleges until into the 18th century, where they literally taught people their oral traditions, despite it being forbidden.
Back to the stone circles.
Celts definitely loved to build structures that are made up of aesthetically aranged stones. Think Stonehenge, which is probably one of those structures everyone kinda knows. But Stonehenge is by far not the only of these sides. And in fact they are scattered all over the former celtic areas.
These two are both from Ireland, where we have the best preserved of those stone circles. But there are also several of them in France.
The best known stones in France are actually not in a circle formation, though. Those are the Carnac stones in Western France.
Those are located about 160km northwest of Machecoul. So a good bit, but still in the same general area. Another fairly well known stone formation - in this case once more a circle - is the Kergonan Cromlech. Which is again about 160km away from Machecoul.
And here is the thing: We actually do not know what is actually up with those stone formations. We know that some of them were created to commemorade the grave of a king or another important burial. We also know that some of them are aligned with certain celestial events (like the solstices). So the general idea is that those stone structures, that are mainly between neolithic and mesolithic. Which is one of the biggest problems.
See, the celts existed with their own culture throughout these areas (mainy the British Islands, France, the Iberian Peninsula and at times also in the area of todays Belgium) at times until about 1000CE. However, those stone structures were build generally speaking between 4500BC and 1500BC. So even those Celts that later were around might not even have known why those structures have been build.
The general consensus between archeologists and anthropologists is, that they were ritual sites related to religious practice. But you should also know that generally speaking archeologists and anthropologists will usually just go "ritual!" whenever we find something and are not certain what it was for. (See also the many things that might have well been dildos, which makes archeologists go: "Eh, probably some ritual practice about worshipping male fertility?!")
Though to be fair: The fact that we know some of those structures are definitely used in terms of graves - and to celebrate certain celestial events - makes it quite likely that there was a ritual component to it.
This is a map of the stone structures we know to be located in France. You might note that none of them is really close to Machecoul. Though given that Machecoul is still fairly close to the Southwestern cluster, it would not to be too off to say: "Oh, yeah, actually there was one but that got destroyed before we found it."
My big question is, what this means about Maria's powers - especially as I was informed that the fact that this is a stone circle of this kind was made very clear in the scripts from the very beginning on.
Especially given that it is called out twice that she might draw the creatures from the Otherworld...

So you want to listen to Main Range?
Great! I know how intimidating it can be to try and start listening, so I’ve tried to compile a guide to the main story arcs. More under the cut (minor spoiler warning)!
Also known as the Monthly Adventures, it’s a great way to get into the DWEU and definitely one I would recommend. It is also accessible, with the first 50 stories available on Spotify, or available to buy from Big Finish or second-hand fairly easily (or, you know, via less-legitimate means).
Main Range involves stories from the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors, and various TV and original companions. If you are a fan of eighties and nineties Who, then Main Range might be for you! My general recommendations for people are to pick a specific doctor AND companion(s) to listen to and go from there. Although, if you’re looking for a first story to try, why not start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) with the Sirens of Time.
While many Main Range stories are stand-alone, there are also some overarching plots, which are actually very companion-focussed. Trying to understand these arcs and listen to them in order can be intimidating for people looking to get into listening, however its probably simpler than you’d think.
To help you out with all of this, I have done my best to write down the stories that are probably best listened to in order, with a bit of an explanation about how it fits into TV continuity if relevant. The order is pretty easy to follow as it is pretty much just in release order. No, Big Finish did not intentionally try to confuse their audience by releasing stories out of order (okay maybe they did just a little). However I have provided the story number in brackets [like so] for clarity.
Also, to be clear, all of the arcs are self-contained, so seperate arcs don't have to be listened to in the order I've written them down in, unless I've specified otherwise (like with the Evelyn and Hex storyline).
Again, it is not super important to listen to things in order. If you are getting bored with a story or with listening in order then feel free to skip things. Maybe you could just skim the Tardis Wiki page for the plot if you like. To help, I’ve also marked any of the super plot-heavy stories with an asterix. Most other stories, especially ones that I don’t mention here are standalone and can be listened to however you like.
Also feel free to let me know if I miss anything! Happy listening :)
Fifth Doctor:
The Erimem Arc
This takes place after Planet of Fire and before Caves of Androzani, and features the Fifth Doctor, Peri and an original character called Erimem - an ancient Egyptian princess. This is a pretty good arc and one I would definitely recommend. Please feel free to skip Nekromanteia though it’s genuinely terrible.
[24] The Eye of the Scorpion*
[38] The Church and the Crown
[41] Nekromanteia
[56] The Axis of Insanity
[59] The Roof of The World
[69] Three’s a Crowd
[71] The Council of Nicaea
[81] The Kingmaker
[99] Son of the Dragon
[102a] The Mind’s Eye
[104] The Bride of Peladon*
The Key 2 Time
A trilogy featuring the Fifth Doctor and an original companion called Amy which acts as a sequel to the Key to Time. It is set between Planet of Fire and Caves of Androzani. The Fifth Doctor meets Amy again in the boxset Wicked Sisters.
[117] The Judgement of Isskar
[118] The Destroyer of Delights
[119] The Chaos Pool
The Stockbridge trilogy
Featuring The Doctor and Nyssa and set in the fictional town of Stockbridge which was first introduced in the Fifth Doctor’s DWM comics. Knowledge of that is not at all essential however. Set between Time Flight and Arc of Infinity.
[127] Castle of Fear
[128] The Eternal Summer
[129] Plague of the Daleks
The Older Nyssa Arc
This is set between Enlightenment and the King’s Demons and features Tegan, Turlough and an older Nyssa - some years after the events of Terminus.
[136] Cobwebs*
[137] The Whispering Forest
[138] The Cradle of the Snake
[146] Heroes of Sontar
[147] Kiss of Death
[148] Rat Trap
[159] The Emerald Tiger
[160] The Jupiter Conjunction
[161] The Butcher of Brisbane
[172] Eldrad Must Die!
[173] The Lady of Mercia
[174] Prisoners of Fate
[195] Mistfall
[196] Equilibrium
[197] The Entropy Plague*
The Hannah Arc
A very short trilogy featuring the Doctor, Nyssa and another original companion - Hannah - an Edwardian woman. Set sometime between Time Flight and Arc of Infinity.
[185] Moonflesh
[186] Tomb Ship
[187] Masquerade
The Season 19 Gang Arc
Set during the events of Season 19, these stories feature the original gang of the Doctor, Adric, Tegan and Nyssa.
[221] The Star Men
[222] The Contingency Club
[223] Zaltys
[234] Kingdom of Lies
[235] Ghost Walk
[236] Serpent in the Silver Mask
The Kamelion Arc
There’s not much to say about this apart from that these three are probably best listened to in this order? Set between the King's Demons and the Five Doctors (i think) and featuring Tegan, Turlough and Kamelion.
[247] Devil in the Mist
[248] Black Thursday/Power Game
[249] The Kamelion Empire
The Marc Arc
These stories follow the Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa, and an original companion Marc - a man from ancient Greece. It is set sometime between the end of Arc of Infinity and Mawdryn Undead.
[256] Tartarus*
[257] Interstitial/Feast of Fear
[258] Warzone/Conversion*
[266]Ghost Station/The Bridge Master/What Lurks Down Under/The Dancing Plague
[267]Thin Time/Madquake*
Sixth Doctor:
The Evelyn Arc
One of my favourite arcs with some great stories, and maybe where things get a little confusing. This arc features the Sixth Doctor and an original companion, Evelyn - an historian from modern-day England. Set sometime before the Sixth Doctor meets Mel I think.
This arc set up some story aspects which are explored further with the Seventh Doctor’s stories - specifically, the Forge trilogy. There are a few ways you could listen to these but to keep it simple I would also recommend listening to the Seventh Doctor story the Harvest before you listen to Thicker Than Water, and then A Death in the Family once you’ve listened to all the Evelyn stories AND the Forty-Five anthology. This could also be listened to concurrently in release order with the Hex storyline which I’ll outline a bit later.
[6] The Marian Conspiracy*
[9] The Spectre of Lanyan Moor
[11] The Apocalypse Element
[22] Bloodtide
[23] Project: Twilight*
[37] The Sandman
[40] Jubilee
[43] Doctor Who and the Pirates
[45] Project: Lazarus*
[57] Arrangements for War*
[58] The Harvest (7th Doctor)*
[60] Medicinal Purposes
[73] Thicker Than Water*
[100] 100 BC/My Own Private Wolfgang/Bedtime Story/The 100 Days of the Doctor*
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster
[144] The Feast of Axos
[145] Industrial Evolution
[115] Forty-Five anthology (7th Doctor)*
[140] A Death in the Family (7th Doctor)*
You can theoretically listen to the following before or after Thicker Than Water if you want - they are sort of standalone stories with the Doctor and Evelyn:
[78] Pier Pressure
[84] The Nowhere Place
[108] Assassin in the Limelight
The Charley Arc 2.0
This is best listened to once you’ve listened to the Charley Arc with the Eighth Doctor. Featuring the Sixth Doctor and Charley.
[105] The Condemned*
[111] The Doomwood Curse
[114] Brotherhood of the Daleks
[116] The Raincloud Man
[124] Patient Zero
[125] Paper Cuts
[126] Blue Forgotten Planet*
The Flip and Constance Arc
Featuring the Sixth Doctor and two original companions, Flip - a girl from modern-day England - and Constance - a woman from World War II. Set sometime before the Doctor meets Mel.
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster*
[156] The Curse of Davros
[157] The Fourth Wall
[158] Wirrn Isle
[182] Antidote to Oblivion
[183] The Brood of Erys
[225] Vortex Ice/Cortex Fire
[184] Scavenger*
[204] Criss-Cross*
[205] Planet of the Rani
[206] Shield of the Jotunn
[218] Order of the Daleks
[219] Absolute Power
[273] Colony of Fear
[220] Quicksilver*
[231] The Behemoth
[232] The Middle
[233] Static
[263] Cry of the Vultriss
[264] Scorched Earth
[265] The Lovecraft Invasion
The Older Peri trilogy
Featuring the Doctor and Peri from after she marries King Yrcanos.
[192] The Widow’s Assassin*
[193] Masters of Earth
[194] The Rani Elite
Seventh Doctor:
The Hex Arc
A great arc that sort of starts with Evelyn’s arc. I would not recommend starting this until after you’ve listened to Project: Lazarus, but maybe at least listen to The Harvest before Thicker Than Water (no stress if you don’t want to juggle listening to arcs concurrently). Features the Seventh Doctor, Ace, and an original companion from 2020s London - Hex. Set after the end of Classic Who.
[58] The Harvest*
[67] Dreamtime
[74] LIVE 34
[79] Night Thoughts
[82] The Settling
[89] No Man’s Land
[92] Nocturne
[106] The Dark Husband
[115] False Gods/Order of Simplicity/Casualties of War/The Word Lord*
[120] The Magic Mousetrap
[121] Enemy of the Daleks
[122] The Angel of Scutari*
[139] Project: Destiny*
[140] A Death in the Family*
[141] Lurkers at Sunlight’s Edge
[149] Robophobia (side note: this is our introduction to Liv Chenka who is one of the Eighth Doctor’s main companions from Dark Eyes onwards).
[151] The Doomsday Quatrain
[152] House of Blue Fire*
[162] Protect and Survive*
[163] Black and White*
[164] Gods and Monsters*
[181] Afterlife*
[189] Revenge of the Swarm
[190] Mask of Tragedy
[191] Signs and Wonders
Also at some point before or after the Angel of Scutari you can listen to the following as they are standalone stories:
[226] Shadow Planet/World Apart
[245] Muse of Fire
[268] The Flying Dutchman/Displaced
The Klein Arc
An Arc featuring The Seventh Doctor and an original character, Klein - a woman from 1940s Germany. Set after the end of Classic Who.
[25] Colditz*
[130] A Thousand Tiny Wings
[131] Klein’s Story/Survival of the Fittest
[132] The Architects of History
[175] Persuasion
[176] Starlight Robbery
[177] Daleks Among Us
Klein is also involved in the final story of the Daniel trilogy which spans the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors.
Eighth Doctor:
The Charley Arc 1.0
The best Main Range arc in my opinion. If you listen to anything, listen to this. Featuring the Eighth Doctor and original companion Charley, with another original companion C’rizz in Part 2 of the arc.
Part 1:
[16] Storm Warning*
[17] Sword of Orion
[18] The Stones of Venice
[19] Minuet in Hell
[28] Invaders from Mars
[29] The Chimes of Midnight
[30] Seasons of Fear
[31] Embrace the Darkness
[32] The Time of the Daleks
[33] Neverland*
[50] Zagreus*
Part 2:
[52] Scherzo*

[54] The Natural History of Fear
[55] The Twilight Kingdom
[61] Faith Stealer
[62] The Last
[63] Caerdroia
[64] The Next Life*
[72] Terror Firma
[75] Scaredy Cat
[77] Other Lives
[80] Time Works
[83] Something Inside
[88] Memory Lane
[101] Absolution*
[103] The Girl Who Never Was*
The Mary Shelley arc
A short arc featuring the Eighth Doctor and Mary Shelley! Yes, that Mary Shelley.
[123d] Mary’s Story*
[153] The Silver Turk
[154] The Witch from the Well
[155] Army of Death
Multi-doctor arcs:
These are mostly trilogies featuring stories which Big Finish probably mostly intended to be listened to together.
The Forge trilogy
Relevant to the Evelyn and Hex arcs - best listened to in conjunction with the rest of their stories.
[23] Project: Twilight (Sixth Doctor)
[45] Project: Lazarus (Sixth Doctor/Seventh Doctor)
[139] Project: Destiny (Seventh Doctor)
The Villains Trilogy
[47] Omega (Fifth Doctor)
[48] Davros (Sixth Doctor)
[49] Master (Seventh Doctor)
The Harvest/TheReaping/The Gathering trilogy
^^^ I’m naming it that because the other name I’d give it would be a big spoiler lol (if you saw me forget the Harvest out of this no you didn’t)
[58] The Harvest (Seventh Doctor)
[86] The Reaping (Sixth Doctor)
[87] The Gathering (Fifth Doctor)
The Brewster Arc
Thomas Brewster is also vaguely relevant to the events of Stranded with the Eighth Doctor but it’s not really important.
[107] The Haunting of Thomas Brewster (Fifth Doctor)
[113] Time Reef/A Perfect World (Fifth Doctor)
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster (Sixth Doctor)
[144] The Feast of Axos (Sixth Doctor)
[145] Industrial Evolution (Sixth Doctor)
The Sorsha trilogy
[165] The Burning Prince (Fifth Doctor)
[166] The Acheron Pulse (Sixth Doctor)
[167] The Shadow Heart (Seventh Doctor)
The 1963 trilogy
These don’t really have an overarching plot as far as I can remember, they were just released as part of the 50th anniversary.
[178] 1963: Fanfare for the Common Men (Fifth Doctor)
[179] 1963: The Space Race (Sixth Doctor)
[180] 1963: The Assassination Games (Seventh Doctor)
The Companions Trilogy
[198] The Defectors (Seventh Doctor)
[199] Last of the Cybermen (Sixth Doctor)
[200] The Secret History (Fifth Doctor)
The Master trilogy
[211] And You Will Obey Me (Fifth Doctor)
[212] Vampire of the Mind (Sixth Doctor)
[213] The Two Masters (Seventh Doctor)
The Daniel trilogy
[237] The Helliax Rift (Fifth Doctor)
[240] Hour of the Cybermen (Sixth Doctor)
[244] Warlock’s Cross (Seventh Doctor) (Klein is in this one if you want to listen to her arc beforehand)
Edit/addendum:
If you’re like me, you’ve maybe been intrigued by Main Range from seeing/hearing other fans talk about some of the excellent stories there are. Personally, when I am struggling getting through a series, it helps to have a specific story or episode to look forward to. As such, here are a few of my personal favourites from the above list that are definitely worth waiting for (at least in my humble opinion):
5th Doctor:
- Warzone/Conversion
6th Doctor:
- Jubilee
- Doctor Who and the Pirates
- Arrangements for War
7th Doctor:
- Afterlife
- Master
8th Doctor:
- Seasons of Fear
- Zagreus
- Scherzo
- The Natural History of Fear
