Phantom & The Merc

Danny was always a ghost. Just not in the sense that he was now. He was invisible. Always forgotten, or ignored, until he served a purpose.

Whether it was to help with an experiment, to let some anger out, or simply to have someone to listen to your problems.

Danny never felt seen.

Not until he found Phantom. He became Phantom.

He's world turned on it's head. A combination of never being seen and feeling like he was always under a microscope.

He wasn't sure which he prefered.

But he found a balance. Managed to walk the thin line between Fenton and Phantom. Never strayed that far after his first year.

He thought he had it all figured out. He's truly invisible half, and his half in the spot light.

Until the day the whole world was after him.

It happened so fast. In the span of two days, all eyes were on Fenton. Everyone knew. Nobody really cared about Phantom in that time. Everyone knew Fenton was Phantom.

Being on the run was taxing.

He was always in pain, always hungry, and never comfortable. Everywhere he went, someone would find him. Without fail.

His family turned on him. His friends couldn't help him. He wasn't going to let people get hurt or arrested because of him.

To the eyes of the government, he wasn't human. He wasn't alive.

All those 'enhanced human' laws didn't help him.

So the day he was met with the man in red and black. The mercenary everyone from the underground warned him about. He accepted his fate.

He knew Deadpool would be the one kill him, or capture him. The world wasn't picky on the reward.

Except he wasn't.

The man didn't kill him.

At first, Danny thought it was because of the way he folded the moment he was met with the armed killer.

The way he just dropped his head, and waited. He wasn't getting taken without a fight, but death was the better option. The less painful one.

It wasn't until Deadpool took him to a place nearby, fed him, and spoke to him. Actually spoke to him. Not just about him, or what he wanted from him.

Danny was being treated like a person again.

That was when he found out why the Merc was there in the first place. To help.

The rumors about the notorious Deadpool wasn't completely true. The man didn't just do anything for money. He has his own morals and rules.

Deadpool doesn't kill kids.

And for the first time, Danny didn't want to defend his age. He knows he looks younger than he is. He's always been the smallest in his family. In school.

He wasn't going to let his ego stop him from having a warm meal, and sleeping on a bed for the first time in a long while.

Danny felt safe.

The car is suspisious, so they do get pulled over. But a 12 year old driving? That kind of undoes all the suspision. It fits right into the weird of Gotham, with child prodigies left and right and leading scientists/doctors turning into supervillians. And technically....you should arrest them. The three adult Wayne kids are passed out in the backseat, drunk off their rocker with one coming too randomly to spout nonsense.

But listen. Damien Wayne has an air to him. The pictures from the newspaper and the videos you've see on YouTube normally give off the vibe the kid is guarded and awkward. An expected vibe from a kid in Gotham being brought into the light of Gotham's most elite. But right now, as you're looking down at him, in your officer uniform fully packed with fear-gas repellent, anit-pollen injection, a portable defroster, a taser and a gun you are struck with terror.

The boy is 12 years old. You know this. It was all over the news when he got adopted. And living in Gotham, you face you're fair share of scared kids pulling out their scary faces. But this kid is different. Theres a murderous aura coming from him that leaves you feeling drenched in sweat. The hairs on your neck stand up and even though you've been tested in the accademy know your initial reaction to danger is fight (you have to be if you want to be a cop in Gotham) you find yourself frozen.

"You're going to let us go. Without a ticket or a report. There will be no evidence of this interaction. "

"I-Im going to let you go." The words fall out like the kid pulled some freaky jedi mind trick. But you dont have time to think of that now.

Damien Wayne turns away from you, it's almost dismissive the way he does that-which is something you never thought a 12 year old could accomplish simply by turning away and rolling up the window so his features are distorted through the tinted windows.

The car hits rubber making an ear peircing screeching sound before it blasts off down the road like a rocket. Down the line you see it slow back down to the speed limit so it's obvious the kid just wanted to show off.

You're still frozen. You havent taken a single step from when you knocked on the window. You stumble and realize every joint in your body is now coming back online, still feeling like jello.

Hes a 12 year old child. You're a police officer in Gotham. You've faced the terrors in the town head on and seen more death than he could probably count. So why does it feel like you just escaped with your life?

jason: i'm too drunk to drive

dick: you were the one to get me drunk, so i can't drive

tim: man i am high as a kite right now, i don't think I'm fit to drive unless it's to the wendy's drive-thru, its the only route i know by heart

Aventurine's eyes finally getting brighter the more time you two spend together, gaining that cute shine back, finally living, than just surviving. His pretty eyes shinning so bright on your wedding day that you can't help but give both of them tiny pecks, you two staringly in deeply in each other's eyes, feeling so safe and content.

Only for them to become twice as dull as before as stands in front of your grave, frozen, still in trauma. His lovely lover sacrificing their own life and taking a bullet in their head to protect him from an attempted assasian.

Stephanie is heavily autistic and bpd-coded so she's far from a 'normie',much less an 'it girl' but people see blonde hair and blue eyes and throw away everything else about her because that's all she's worth to them or call her an abuser and a pick me just like they do irl bpdtistic women and she's also canonically pastel/indie punk and a Team Mom but gets her presentation switched to basic and made out to be a womanchild instead

Cass had a million times more moral conflict than Jason ever did,would never in her LIFE wanna be feminine even in the chinese way and would be butch in it instead,turning her scattered speech into sign language is ableist not unlike(but not on the same level as)changing Babs' type of wheelchair disability and she'd be a better Batman than any male character in existense

Duke is only a golden child in the sense he has a yellow motif and is as disruptive and authentically quirky as his siblings,We Are Robin is a better team than the canon Outlaws,his powers are cooler than any Al-Ghul ones you could come up with,he has more femme energy than Tim does and Carrie Kelley ain't shit and only gets brought back to replace him because DC is antiblack

Damian's introduction mentality was a result of not only child abuse but also psychological grooming to get him to dehumanize himself and all his bigoted comments are explained either by him being like 12 or his writers trying to demonize brown people and anybody who thinks he's a bad person is a super-sized pissbaby with no sympathy for kids of color,shipping him with Jon is making a bisexual man into a ped0phile and Jay is good even if aging Jon up wasn't and he should be friends with Maya,Suren,Nell,Colin,Kathy,Maps,Tai and Miles,Gwen,Peni,Pavitr,Hobie and Margo from Atsv and Nico and Hazel from Pjo instead of Billy Batson or Danny Fenton or ANY Mcu characters

Talia is super hot but should be drawn in accurate arab clothes instead 'sexy assasian gear'(not that these two can't co-exist but you get what i mean),her personality is extremely rich and her stories are mega interesting,she's a good mom to Damian and literally never 'took advantage of Jason' seeing as That Scene In Lost Days was decanonized by it's writer who said it was ooc for her on his part,she should've been a mom figure to Stephanie in her Robin Days too since they would get along and she deserved her own run where she takes over Lexcorp to transform it into a force for good and become Superfam-adjacent to free herself from having only male connections

Random thing that I just think about sometimes:

I watched the Black widow movie a long time ago in theaters but I now sometimes think of Damian as Yelena Boleva, the younger sibling and Jason as Natasha Romanoff, the older one, especially because the Black widows were trained to become assasians, and in Damian's origin, he grew up with the League of assasians and was trained to be an assassin himself and for Jason it's because he's had history with the League
