I wonder how the fuck everyone found out about Mileena and Tanya dating. I understand Kitana and Sindel knowing because they've known Mileena her whole life, so they probably picked up on it. Also, it's understandable why Liu Kang and Geras would know. I'm talking about Shao, Reiko, Li Mei, Ashrah, and Baraka. I know Bi han picked up on it, too, because of an intro between him and Tanya. I would love to know what happened that made them think, "Oh, these girls are gay and in love with each other."

Johnny Cage: -He is cooking, or better putting stuff together, hoping it will turn edible, when he feels your tight hug. -Your arms encircling his waist, your head laying on his back. -"Mh? What happened?" Johnny asks, with mirth in his voice. "You are so cute cooking for us. I had to impulse to hug you. You are just so fucking cute." You say into the back of his grey shirt, ending your speech with a kiss on his neck. -If you could see his face you would notice a smile taking most of Johnny's face. He so wants to kick his feet in the air like some schoolgirl. -But instead Johnny punches the kitchen wall cabinet, before turning around finally ready to give you the same amount ot sweetness. -It seems like you aren't the only one suffering for cute aggression.

Liu Kang: -He was simply helping one of the monk in daily chores when he hears you calling him. -Liu Kang excuses himself, a god that has his dna imbued in humilty, and walks toward you in a secluded area where usually nobody comes. The ruin of old temples all around, nature overflowing from every corner. -Liu Kang doesn't have the time to ask what is going on, your arms around his neck, grip tight. Your lips smack in between his eyebrows before you stick your face in the nook of his neck. -"Oh wow. I suppose thanks?" He says, lips near enough to your ears that you feel inside you the low chuckles that bloom from his throat. "You were so nice out there. You are a god but you still help us anyway, you are so nice Liu." You say, whining in his neck, leaving another kiss there. "You are so good Liu, you are such a good god." You keep blabbering, but without any other reason that thinking it for real, wanting to make him feel good. -You see, Liu Kang doesn't suffer of cute aggression, but being told he did a good action, that he is a good boy sparks…something else. -"Liu? Is your temperature rising? Are you fine?" You ask, looking up into his eyes. He nods, before breaking the hug, but now holding your hand, pulling you who knows where. -His won't be the only temperature rising.

Syzoth: -He is studying in the library and you are sitting in front of him, bored out of your mind. -You start to look at your boyfriend face, noticing how the little ray of sun lighted his face, making his green eyes shine under those long blond-ish lashes, the hood of his uniform covering his head, but some of his hair brighten under the sun. -The points of his tongue wet his lips while turning page after page, searching more and more of his origins. -Syzoth is concentrated, eyebrows furrowed, almost looking angry, but you could only see cuteness radiating from his body. -So you do the obvious next step; sitting next to him and hugging his neck till he almost chokes. -"Oh! What is happening? Did something scare you?" Syzoth asks, mostly worried. You kiss the top of his head, still covered by the green hood before saying "No, you are just tremendously cute while studying. My hot nerd." You mumble, still hugging him. -Syzoth doesn't really understand this, not used to these acts of affection, but you seem happy. You called him cute, doezn't know what a nerd is, so he relaxes under your touch. -When you let him go, Syzoth goes back to his book, but will keep an arm around your waist to feel you close to him.

Ashrah: -You are preparing tea for both of you, while Ashrah is sitting on grass, at the entrance of Wu Shi forest. -When the hot beverages are finally ready, you exit the kitchen, and you see her. -Ashrah is surrounded by nature, obviously, but you see some magic in there. The bees seem to create happy dances in the air, butterflies, so big and colourful flying from flowers to flowers and then- -A cute bird lay on Ashrah's shoulder. She turns around and smiles at the creature that chirps before flying away, leaving a happy smile on the demon's face. -She looked like an angel. -You throw the cups on the grass (thankfully, they don't break in million pieces), and run towards her. The hug is so powerful that she ends up laying on the ground with you on top. -"Hey! Is everything fine?" "Yes, you are simply the most beautiful being ever." You say, before kissing her fully on the lips. -She pats your head, happy at least that you are not hurt. -"I'd still like tea-" "Yeah, yeah I'll make it again. Just let me rest in your arms a little longer…" -You soon fell asleep on her.

Note: This took me a bit of time to plan. I tried my best so I hope you guys enjoy read it. Also, I started writing down a bit of Babysitting 101.

Warning: Slight Possessive Behavior, Jealousy, Johnny being Johnny, Szyoth is Pookie 🥺. Hope you guys enjoy 😊.

Syzoth first met you when you accompanied Kenshi, Kung Lao and Johnny to go confront Shang Tsung but ended up imprisoned in his dungeon. But when all hope was lost, he came and saved not your life but your friends as well.

From that day forward on, Syzoth had became very close to you and formed a deep bond and attachment to you. He became a bit protective since you showed him kindness and gave him a second chance . He vows to always be there for you just like how you were always there for him.

Syzoth knew at that moment he had fallen in love with you. Your kindness and compassion made him feel special and loved by you. He often ask Ashrah on how to court you properly.

Every time you would pass by or simply waved a hello at him, Syzoth would feel his heart race at the sight of your lovingly and gentle smile. He badly wants to express his feelings to you.

But a part of him feels like why should you love a freak and monster like him. He lost his wife and kid to Shang Tsung. What if he loses you the same way . Is he destined to be alone?

Whenever Syzoth isn’t busy with missions, he often times seeks you out and often stays by your side the whole day, watching you work.

Being a medical doctor can be very stressful as you have to deal with a lot of injured monks and combatants. But you really appreciate it when Syzoth assists even if he doesn’t know much about Earthrealmers culture or anatomy.

As a Zatteran, he tries his best to court you by showing off his skills and ability but no matter how much he tries to gain your attention Kung Lao or Johnny steals you away . He gets very jealous on how Johnny or Kung Lao flirts with you or how close you are with the both of them.

“Hey (Y,N)! You should totally be in my next movie. Could use a beauty like you.” Johnny said as you chuckled and gave him a smile as you were hanging up the wet blankets up in the rack while Syzoth was helping you fold them.

“Thanks for the offer Cage but I’m good. I have other things to worry about besides fame.” You said as you smiled as you pick up the basket.

Syzoth gave an intense glare at Johnny and wrap his tail around your waist in which you didn’t mind thinking it was a friendly gesture.

“Oh come on!! You would be a very big hit in Hollywood. Imagine the fame!” He said as you just chuckled but before he you could do say anything else Syzoth stood close behind you and gave the actor a very judgmental looked.

Syzoth doesn’t get jealous often but he can be very clingy of you at times and this was one of them. He didn’t like the way Johnny place his hand on your shoulder but felt relieved when you brush it off and gave the actor a smile.

“Thanks for the offer Cage!” You called out as you and Syzoth left the courtyard and headed towards your estate to prepare some dinner.

Syzoth enjoys spending every moment with you as he is hardly stays away from you as he often helps you with daily tasks and activities. He would have a lovesick smile planted on his face whenever you would hug him. You always thought he was very attentive because how he would accompany you and assist you. Totally not because this how Zatteran court their mate.

Syzoth wants nothing more than to express his romantic feelings for you as he sees this as a second chance for him to have. He wants to marry you and start a family of his own again.

You mean the whole world to him and he would anything just for you even if he has to wait for you at the end of the realms and protect you.

Syzoth watch in envy the way you laugh and joke around with Kung Lao who was talking about the shenanigans that Johnny did during training and how amazing your cooking was.

“So you are saying that Madam Bo’s cooking is not good enough for you, Lao?” You tease at him which made him blush in embarrassment. Kung Lao blush in embarrassment as he grab your hand and gave you the puppy eye looks.

“(Y,N) please don’t tell Madam Bo that I said that. She’ll tear me a new.” He said as you just chuckled lightly before poking his forehead. Kung Lao smiled as he decided to confess his feelings for you. “(Y,N) would have the honor to accompany on a date to Madam Bo’s.” He said.

You stared at him with wide eyes but before you could speak something inside of Syzoth snap as he was at your side in an instant and brought you close to him and silently growl at Kung Lao.

“I’m very sorry Kung Lao but my hearts belong to someone else. I see you as a brother and I hope we can still be best friends.” You said sadly as Kung Lao frown but understood you.

Kung Lao knew at that moment that you were in love with Syzoth. His suspicions were now confirmed that you’ve had a feelings for him so that means Johnny owns him a meal at Madam Bo. He smirk at how Syzoth had a possessive embrace around you. He chuckled at the sight.

“Well Syzoth has something to tell you. Let me know when the food is ready.” He said cheekily as he went to go find Raiden and Johnny.

You turn to face Syzoth who frown and averted his eyes before gently grabbing your hands. “(Y,N).” He said shyly and nervously as you gave him a worried expression. “Would you give me the honors to court and mate you. I have loved you for a while.” He confess as you were stared at him speechless with your cheeks heated up.

“You showed me nothing but kindness and gave me a second chance after everything Shang Tsung did to me. I love you very much please allow me to make you mine.” He said softly as you gave him your famous smile that he had fallen in love with. His love for you is unconditional and would do anything for you.

You place both of your hands against his cheeks as you place a gentle soft kiss which made him blush before returning the gesture. The both of you broke away as Syzoth smiled lovingly. He brought you into a tight hug as he nuzzled into you. “I love you, (Y,N). You are my forever.”

I have been unwell but let's just say. I have fully have thought out my headcanons

Hatsune and kenshi had gotten into the university using their mothers money that had been left behind. Hatsune works a part time job as a tutor to earn money for expenses and kenshi works at a coffee shop.

Sareena, jatakaa, Kia and Ashrah were foyr orphaned girls who had by chance gotten adopted into the same family. The father was Shinnok.

At first everything was going nice and well for the girls but after seeing their father's true intentions into using them the four girls had ran away from home when they were eighteen.

Hatsune first meeting was with Ashrah during their first day of classes. The classes teacher was biased more towards the boys and had told them that mostly boys get the best privileges. Ashrah had found hatsune ranting about it angrily to herself and had asked her what was wrong. Hatsune had told her it was unfair to all the girls in this college that the boys get these privileges.

Ashrah even though exactly the same thing that both girls abd boys should get equal privileges in this college. The two hit it off and hatsune gets introduce to the others

Hatsune and jatakaa had become quick friends out of the others because they both share the one single braincell in the group.

Kia was pretty much the gossiper of the group. If there was even one single rumour Kia would be the first one to hear it. Hatsune was pretty intruiged and mentally noted to be careful around Kia.

Hatsune didn't get along that we'll at first with sareena because they were both polar opposite sareena was pretty sunshine while hatsune was closed off but they shared one thing in common if anyone hurts their group they hurt them back.

The five were pretty inseparable and were pretty chaotic

Hatsune even gets the opportunity to use her farhers credit card on the girls and spoil them most of the time. They see something they want she buys it for them. But Hatsune uses her money wisely.

The order of light meeting kenshi and syzoth:

Kenshi was really happy when he found out his little sister had made friends in the university

He was friends with Liu Kang, kung Lao, syzoth, Johnny and Hanzo so he couldn't spend more time with his little sister.

He always gets worried thinking that she won't have any friends.

The sisters met kenshi when he had invited them for dinner in his apartment. The dinner went really well as they talked, ranted and gossiped about people in the university

Syzoth was roommates with hatsune and kenshi. He was also included during dinner and had met ashrah. He fell for her immediately not because of her looks but because of her personality.

Hatsune was the first one to notice and she had started shipping them. She even third wheeled sometimes because syzoth asked her to.

Jatakaa was always the protective one of the bunch but syzoth had already proved his love abd devotion to ashrah that he got her approval.

Sareena and Kia were really happy for their sister but they did threaten syzoth that if he hurt ashrah the two will stab him.

Hatsune introducing sareena to bi-han:

Hatsune and bi-han were always at each other's throats

They would compete for everything in class If bi-han wanted a challenge hatsune would definitely give that guy a challenge

In the classroom they were rivals in the court but outside they were pretty hood friends.

Hatsune usually sees bi-han eating alone during lunch so she usually sat down beside him. They would exchange recipes and cooking styles from their culture. Hatsune would bring cold mochi while bi-han would bring her spicy wonton soup.

One day hatsune and sareena both had been free for lunch so hatsune introduce bi-han to sareena as the three sat by the lunch table.

When bi-han saw sareena he felt pretty warm in his chest he could listen for hours hearing her talk.

Sareena even managed to slightly warm up bi-han heart. Hatsune was glad to bi-han being friends with sareena.

The three would usually sat together at their lunch table and best part of all bi-han finally gave his wonton soup recipe and hatsune finally gave her cold and sweet kochi recipe.

Fun fact, she usually spoils Tanya the most (cause she's the one who struggles the most with money).

It would be funny if Bi-Han had this one recipe that he would NEVER share with anyone, but then Sareena says she loved it and asks him the recipe, Hatsune tries to tell her there's no way Bi-Han would share it but before she can even finish the sentence Bi-Han goes "sure, no problem" and Hatsune is just "BETRAYAL >:O"

have you seen the mk cage match movie and if so, what are your thoughts on it

funny you ask this because i JUST watched that movie today, so my thoughts on it are very fresh

overall, cage match is a fun movie and entertaining enough if you have a spare 80ish minutes to watch something. i enjoyed the animation style, plot-wise it's easy to follow, the fight scenes were well-choreographed, the soundtrack was reflective of the 80s vibes they had going on, and all of the voice-acting is great (in my non-professional opinion).

i also really like the designs, they're super nice!

at the same time, because i'm so deep into mortal kombat lore, it's like... really easy for me to nitpick a bunch of stuff about this movie and how it handled some characters + plot elements.

johnny was fine; he's the same as always, so there's not really much new to say about him. i enjoyed how they kept his personality of being a cocky guy but also having a strong sense of good and justice within him, and the backstory they gave him in this film really elevates that. chuck was also a pleasant surprise. i went into this only having seen clips of him that made me assume he was just going to be a wimp the entire time, but watching his development throughout was really fun.

where my main conflict with this film lies is how it handles ashrah and sareena. the latter got the worst of it, imo—the character assassination this film did to sareena is crazy. i get that in 80 minutes you can only cover so much, and that the focus is meant to be on johnny, but i think there's aspects of these characters that could have been dealt with better than they were. i ended cage match unsure of how to feel about its ashrah, and extremely disappointed in its sareena.

(major spoilers under the cut, if you haven't seen cage match yet and want to watch it maybe come back to this after doing that. & obviously don’t let my personal griefs discourage you from watching or sour your opinion on the movie lmao)

kia and jataaka were not bad, to be honest. they've never really had a major role in previous mortal kombat games, and the only times they really showed up before is to do quan chi's bidding and then be defeated. there's not much to them as characters outside of that. if anything, i like that quan chi was not in this movie at all, letting them shine on their own. it sucks that they both die, and in an ideal world they'd get more depth, but them even existing & having cool scenes is a nice contrast to how they got off-screened by ashrah in mk1.

my only real complaint about those two is that they both basically got taken out the same way. kia was run over by a bus (which... seriously? she's a literal demon with all these powers and dies likethat?), and then later on chuck drives his truck into jataaka, sending her flying into the NoHo sign. i dunno, maybe it's meant to be a gag, but i was more annoyed by it than anything.

again, though: my biggest hang-ups are on ashrah and sareena.

cage match's ashrah is a mixed bag, in my opinion. the core of her character is still there: she's a demon that was formerly part of the brotherhood of shadow but left to seek redemption and become human. i also like that it's shown she's working with the white lotus society/forces of light, similar to how she always has in the games. them also having her use her classic spin move was nice to see, and i've already mentioned that i like her design.

my issue is that she doesn't get datusha until the very end of the movie. and when she finally does, the whole thing with datusha purifying her soul is not mentioned At All. datusha's just a random ass sword that glows, and as far as i can tell there's no indication that its lore even exists in this movie.

before she gets datusha, ashrah was just fighting hand-to-hand against everyone, but her absolution has always extremely tied to datusha, which begs the question: if she was working on becoming human, HOW was she supposedly doing that without datusha? in both deception and mk1, ashrah is being led to believe that her kriss is what is helping her cleanse herself of being a demon. that's her entire story. you cannot have ashrah chasing her absolution without datusha, and if you are going to separate them then there needs to be an explanation for how ashrah is purifying herself.

but... there isn't. when it's revealed in the third act that ashrah is a demon, chuck is a little wary and asks her if that's true. ashrah tells him that yes, she is a demon, but she's working on becoming human.

EXPLAIN, ASHRAH. HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT???? TELL US!!

i feel like this is... easily fixable too? ashrah's main involvement in this plot is that she's trying to stop a ritual that'll bring shinnok to earthrealm from happening, and datusha is one of the three key things needed for that ritual. instead of just having her chase after whoever has the scroll with the summoning spell, ashrah could have also had datusha on her and been a target for the brotherhood of shadow. this would give her reason to be working under raiden (like... maybe after escaping she could've sought protection from the white lotus society), made her even more important to the plot, AND kept her lore intact. they don't even need to dive deep into datusha's lore if they wanted to keep this friendly to viewers unfamiliar with mortal kombat, just have her mention that datusha's magic is helping make her more human. that's it.

i dunno, it's just... ashrah in cage match is super fun, she does some cool stuff, but that whole aspect could've been handled better. like she has way less screentime in mortal kombat 1's story mode, and yet at least there they didn't leave out anything important to who ashrah is.

anyways, onto sareena. or, should i say: the oc they gave sareena's name and appearance to.

i don't... understand why she is characterized the way she is in cage match. but it sucks. sareena has existed since 1997, and in all the years she's been around her character has always been good demon. not bad, Good. so that's why i'm really annoyed with how sareena has handled in cage match. you know how i mentioned with ashrah, the core of her character is still there, even if i have my hangups with how cage match executed some things like the lack of datusha?? well, sareena's even worse. she's egregiously out of character and it makes me so mad. i get that these movies all exist in their own universe and things are bound to change, but i don't have to like said changes if it completely messes up the entirety of a character's lore.

in all previous iterations of her, sareena has been a demon that unwillingly served quan chi + shinnok, and was eager to escape them and the netherrealm the first chance she got. any time she has been working for evil, it's when she is being forced into it. never willing. so why the fuck was she actually a bad person in this film??? quan chi is out of the picture, and shinnok only appears after being successfully summoned. in addition, they're in earthrealm the entire time, so nothing from the netherrealm could be influencing sareena's actions. cage match, for some reason, took a look at how she has always been a good person that just struggles with being a demon, and went nah. let's make her evil with no redeeming qualities.

like... her role should have either been kia/jataaka, quan chi, or a random ass oc. all of the complexity and tragedy that makes up sareena's character is nonexistent in cage match, instead being replaced with a one-dimensional villain. her motivations are entirely centered around shinnok and the netherrealm, completely contradicting all of her previous lore. and i know that they can keep the main aspects of these characters intact, as seen with johnny and ashrah.

i'm also annoyed because this movie is the first actual time we see ashrah and sareena interact, and it's when sareena is her worst iteration yet. so their interactions in this film aren't even worth referencing when discussing their relationship because they did a completely overhaul with sareena's lore, in a bad way.

if sareena was actually adapted properly, she would not be willingly doing everything she does in cage match. the real sareena would've jumped in joy at the chance to be stuck in earthrealm, away from shinnok and the netherrealm, and if anything she'd be helping our heroes stop the ritual to bring him to earthrealm. if the film seriously needed her to be leading this cult and be behind everything that happens, that would still suck but the least that could've been done is made it clear that she's somehow being influenced by shinnok/the netherrealm.

ugh it makes me so sad because LOOK AT HER!!!! SHE'S GORGEOUS, THE FLUFFY HAIR IS EVERYTHING!!! BUT PERSONALITY WISE THIS IS THE MOST AWFUL DIRECTION THEY COULD'VE GONE WITH HER!!!!!!

i personally believe what happened is that whoever wrote cage match needed another villain so they looked up netherrealm inhabitants, saw a picture of sareena, and went "done!" while not bothering to actually look into sareena as a character. or maybe not, who knows. either way, this is the bad place for sareena fans lmao.

anyways i think i've aired out all my grievences with this movie. i think if i wasn't a mortal kombat fan and/or didn't know much about these characters, i wouldn't care about this stuff at all and just gone "it was a nice movie!! :)" because objectively it is! and again, i had fun with most of it! however unfortunately i care about these characters very much so when they're done dirty it's just. eugh.

also i feel like there should've been more gore than there was #idk

Ok, time for the long and probably incoherent reaction to what I saw. Just parts of the story mode, a bit of character endings though I tried to avoid it, and a bit of the menus and stuff. Under the cut

For reference, I started at what seemed to be Ashrah’s chapter and went until Kuai Liang’s. Conveniently my favs!

The girl was indeed Khameleon!! And she looks so pretty! If I had any doubts I needed the dlc pack, they’re gone now

The dlc (non guests) and kameos seem all to be un story mode? I wasn’t expecting for this. This is nice

I know that Lin Kuei chapter was probably a disappointment to everyone and while I would also have liked for Bi-Han to be less of a dick but it’s Mortal Kombat, guys, the characters don’t usually step out of their boxes often. His box is of a bad guy. The chapter was pretty much what we all could have expected. In fact, I think everything there was successfully predicted without any leaks

That being said, it was hilarious that you could see the gears turning in Bi-Han’s brain as soon as he saw the money. I never saw him as someone that cared much about money. Power, yes, obviously, but not money. Then again I best know him after death and I guess money doesn’t matter when you’re dead

Kuai got the scar!! And I think that only after seeing it my brain finally accepted that that man is really Kuai Liang. Like, I knew it, and I think he was always called by his name, but he looks so different that it hadn’t really clicked. Until the scar

Thrallia: A Dueling Bard

"In this, our time of strife grant me enough understanding so I might have enough to distribute to all who have strayed" -Maliadin. 

Once we land on the other side of the portal, we find ourselves near a group of giants. I suggest that we head in the opposite direction, but Maliadin comes up with a plan to make it look like he’s just captured us and is on his way to sell us. This is a bad plan, yet everyone is ready to go with it so why not. I vaguely notice the blood that has stained my clothes and the ache in my head. Harnessing Ki to come back to life definitely has its toll. Rest would be so nice, but no. We have to fight giants. 

The plan goes just about as good as I expected, BoBo turned me invisible again, which I should have used to my advantage better than I did. Next time I will do better. I only got hit once by a massive javelin. Thankfully Ashrah and BoBo heal me. After the battle we loot their stuff, I found a giant hide cloak, I’ve no idea what I am supposed to do with this. Maybe I can sell it for some gold. We decide to take advantage of the Giants camp and their roaring fire they already had going. BoBo set up his magical barrier for our safety, and we were set for a well deserved long rest.

While I am not magically inclined, nor do I particularly enjoy magic, especially when it sends me through to different planes, but I do have to admit, it has it’s uses. 

While I was on watch the strangest of creatures appeared. I woke up Maliadin because I’m a stranger to these lands, but that thing just didn’t look right. Turns out we ended up waking everyone up and the creature was something no one had seen before. Galadin thought we were pranking him. I found this slightly insulting, why would I disrupt such important rest for a prank?  In the end, he ended up believing us, but dang, why would I lie? 

The creature looks like one of the experiments my master would have researched if I were in my home plane I might be inclined to think he or some of his friends had something to do with this creature's existence. It looks as though it was a mix between a Man, a bear, and a pig...so odd, why would anyone try to do that? BoBo did try to talk to it, I think that just made it worse though, it was at my suggestion, my thought was that we could make use of that Ring of Animal Influence. The creature did take a run at BoBo’s magical barrier and bounced right off. Everyone went back to sleep and we finished our rest with the creature losing interest and wandering off. 

When we were packing up our camp we noticed that some of our rations were missing, I opened one of mine and saw it was partially eaten, and that I remember eating it, it was when did I eat it that was a bit foggy. BoBo figures out we could be close to a chaos rift, and I add that it could be messing with time. So while we perceive we’ve been camped out for a few hours, it could have actually been days. 

I suggest we make our way to the closest city, my thought is that on my plane cities were the safest to be in, they hadn’t been affected by the chaos rifts yet so that might be the case here as well. I also remember the warning the inn keep gave my old party so long ago now.

We make it to the Human capital city of this plane called Thrallia, we arrive to the city’s gates being closed and guards posted, it seems like they have a special interest in Talrean and Galadin, I’m glad they don’t pay much attention to me. BoBo wins them over with the mention of a place named the Three Legged Devil, which sounds like a place to avoid if I’m being honest. Once in the city, we make our way to a temple,  Maliadin is very insistent while BoBo really wants to go and drink. I stay with the group, I have little interest in praying, but if it puts these people at ease then who am I to judge. 

As we make our way through the city everyone (except me) seems to notice that shops and buildings are misplaced, or closed, or moved, things seem to not be as they should be. The temple is very impressive compared to what I’ve seen back home. There is a priestess who welcomes us, as we talk it becomes very apparent that we’ve either been plane shifted from the reality my party remembers or we’ve been sent forward in time, we don’t have enough information yet to know which. 

Other things we learned from the Priestess:

The King and Princess are still in power from when everyone was last here

Elves, dwarfs, most towns are at war with Thrallia

The Lazy Lizzard -Tavern & Inn

Easthaven was the first to fall

Chaos vaults (**WTF** that sounds like a terrible idea) are being built by dwarfs who are also soldiers they hang out at the Lazy Lizzard. 

Maliadin, Galadin, and Ashrah take their time praying, I meditate for a while, then go and join BoBo outside who is playing some music. He tries very hard to get me to dance to what he’s playing. I do not dance, instead, I suggest that we could spar, he doesn't seem very excited about it, this I find amusing. But he is very talented, and he asked if I had any requests, so I asked him to play his favorite song. It was very good, at the end the rest of the party was coming out of the temple, and clapped, even some guards nearby clapping. 

It’s at this time when we are deciding what to do next, that I make a deal with BoBo to take me to a library so we could try to find some information on plane shifting as well as maybe some information on chaos rifts. It seems our next stop is to be The Lazy Lizzard, but first a nice trip to a bathhouse. I literally don’t remember the last time I bathed, so I’m all in on this plan. 

The bathhouse we visited is called the Bed of Clouds -Bath & Spa, it was very nice, very relaxing, exactly what my sore muscles needed. They even laundered our filthy clothes. When we arrive at at the Lazy Lizard Maliadin finds us a table and BoBo orders us food and drink. We have a great time, I drink very little even though they bought a keg, I also pocket some of the cheese for later for Sly. I guess some of my party members are known in this plane as “Defenders of the realm” and have statues dedicated to them somewhere in the noble district of the city.

Hours later they opened a fighting arena, and Galadin decides to challenge a Drow, by the looks of it, he might know him, I’m not sure, in any case, he loses, which I don’t find surprising seeing how intoxicated he is. BoBo keeps chanting for me to step into the ring. I don’t see the point, I know how good my skills are, and have no need to prove myself. Additionally, there could be very talented fighters here, there is no guarantee I would win, despite BoBo’s chanting. Instead, I turn it on him and challenge him. Our duel is a good one, or at least until he heals himself- I find that to be cheating, additionally flying should not be allowed, as to me, it’s leaving the ring. It did make it incredibly difficult to hit him, and at one point I thought I would concede as we there is just as much honor in knowing when you are beat as actually winning, but Asrah healed me and I was able to deliver a winning blow. After the fight, I helped BoBo up and out of the pit. I think he wants a rematch which could be fun. 

When we were getting ready to leave the Princess, Zia Weston, arrives and chats with us. She seems very apologetic about sending the party into the Doomvault, I guess it was supposed to be a kind of training grounds gone wrong? While they were in there they received a message from a Franny, this for the people in this plane was 6 years ago. There is someone named Celestia Blackrose who I guess is trying to take over this plane, she has been slaughtering mages, and now not many are left. The ones that are, are in hiding. There is one central chaos tower that we could infiltrate if we were more powerful it sounds like. 

Celestia demanded that all kingdoms bend the knee to her, and she threatened with chaos clouds, apparently, the other kingdoms bent the knee with no hesitation, which I find very suspicious. The other kingdoms are also using Giants which are really destroying just everything it sounds like. It sounds like we would be able to lend the most use to Halfhaven which is also where Fanny is so it seems like our vague plan right now is to head that way after finishing our business here in the city. 

We see the Princess off and I get to meet her Griffin, Brightclaw, it’s a very beautiful creature. We then turn in for the night after BoBo sends a message to Fanny letting her know we are going to make our way to her.

this got kind of long & out of hand im sorry i just like gushing about this girl (+ i have to air out my thoughts on her skins. i have opinions on literally everyone's outfits)

sadly ashrah doesn't have many costumes to choose from because she's only been in 3 games 💔 oh well though

i think my #1 look for her has to be her mk1 union of light skin:

like it's probably one of the prettiest skins in the entire game. insanity. it's so elegant/beautiful and her hairstyle is really cute, i like how it frames her face. in a way it kinda reminds me of her original design but updated to have more detail. the flowers are so pretty and ugjhghgljgkljg idk what else to say i just love this skin so much

that said i don't dislike any of her outfits, they're all great!

the only one that i actually think needs some help is her ood skin; it looks fine at first glance but the more you stare at it's just. hmmm. this could've marinated a bit longer

there's also the issue that this doesn't feel like an Evil Version of ashrah, which i think is a problem when the whole point of the ood skins is that they're supposed to be darker versions of the mk1 cast. but i digress

also if i may say something controversial..... i don't dislike ashrah's classic mkd/mka looks, i love them! BUT:

now that we've got a game where ashrah has distinct demonic features, i wish they did that for her older appearances. because as much as i love her deception skin and want them to remake it in mk1 (please @ nrs we need another skin for ashrah), she just looks like some lady? if that makes sense? like,,,, i would see deception ashrah in the grocery store and pay her zero mind:

i guess before mk1 the other demons also just looked like regular humans but idk... some facial markings similar to the ones sareena had would've at least been nice. they've got the kanji on her hat translating to "demon/ghost" and that's it.

and i know that's sort of the point, that she's supposed to look like a normal human upon first glance, but idk man! she wasn't done with her absolution yet, midway should've let her look a little strange 😭😭 there's some people who want her to have a normal human face if/when nrs gives us deception ashrah as a skin, but i'd rather they keep her demonic features

on the topic of mk1: i love the contrast here on her mk1 default between ashrah's clothing — clearly inspired by angels — versus her actual appearance. it's really smart and imo reflects how much she tries to distance from her origins as a demon. it really sells the idea of her being an ascending demon & i hope everyone that makes fun of her hairline + face steps on a lego

when the banished trailer first revealed ashrah some people were sad she didn't have her hat, but tbh???? i feel like her mk1 default is fine without one. it would've been nice and probably helped older fans recognize her but i'm not sure if this outfit needs a hat. yknow.

the only other ashrah outfits to talk about (because again she has SO little it's criminal) is the ones from mkd concept art that didn't make the cut:

i have no strong opinions about either of these, they're here i guess. the first one is cool, i like the idea of ashrah with super long hair and she reminds me of a jedi there lmao. the second one is also okay but something about ashrah with a mask feels weird so i'm glad they didn't go with it

speaking of concept art CAN NRS SHOW US THE CONCEPT ART FOR THE MK1 DEFAULTS because i really want to know the early ideas they had for ashrah. we get the final character concepts for everyone which is fine but i desperately want to see the initial ideas they had. i hope they get added to the shrine in the future 🥲

oh do i have OPINIONS on syzoth’s outfits. get popcorn because we will be here for a minute

since syzoth’s been around for so long, i’m just going to go in chronological order here because that’s what makes sense to my head:

while he wasn’t playable until the second game, syzoth’s presence has been in the franchise ever since the first mortal kombat. fun fact: he was the first ever secret boss in a fighting game, being a male ninja recolor with a mix of sub-zero and scorpion’s powers.

there’s not much to say about this one; the arcade sprites couldn’t have much detail, and as mentioned before the male ninjas were all recolors of each other, so syzoth’s outfit doesn’t have much going on. still, i’ve always liked this classic outfit the male ninjas had. it looks comfortable idk.

the outfit he has from the second game is, again, yet another recolor sprite. the only difference here from the first game’s costume is a few minor details have been tweaked & the texture of the green cloth has more detail. i actually think i prefer the shade of green here as opposed to the one he had the first game, not sure why though.

i'd like to see it make a comeback in mk1, who knows. but i wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t since he got his umk3 skin already

SPEAKING OF:

this one is also nice, but it's pretty similar to the the previous costume so i'm really not sure what else to add here. there's lines, i guess.

i actually really like how it looks in mk1 though! the textures are neat & they managed to keep the simplicity of it while still making it look nice. i also think the little cat ears resembling how john tobias drew the ninjas is really cute :)

there is nothing good about this at all. full stop. making him suddenly have scaley skin is one thing, but does he have to be ugly??????? because he is so ugly it’s awful. WHY IS HE BALD???

i have mentioned i hate his union of light skin from mk1 but this is ten times worse. just awful stuff, all around

they did this weird thing with his mask where, when syzoth opens his mouth, the mask moves with it, so he doesn’t have to take it off to eat or bite people or anything, i guess. but that’s really dumb to me?????? can he not just take it off like everyone else in these games who wears a mask???? why does he specifically need the open-mouthed stretchy mask?????

WHAT IS GOING ON. HUH????

also i really don’t like how they randomly decided to make the legs of his outfit purple; i get his skin is suddenly green and maybe they wanted some contrast, but come on guys. color coordination for these characters was established very early on, you can’t just throw reptile in purple out of nowhere when he's always worn green😭😭😭

i also don’t like the metal part on his crotch, and the top half of the costume is super boring. like okay sure graphics back then only allowed for so much but come on, do SOMETHING. this whole outfit sucks. burn it immediately like holy shit. mk4 was such an awful time for syzoth in general because not only did he get the ugliest design in mortal kombat design history BUT HE DIED IN HIS OWN TOWER ENDING.

you really cannot get worse than syzoth’s mk4 outfit & i think they realized how bad his design was, because midway redeems themselves in mkda:

his default really suits the more monstrous/animalistic vibe they were going for him, and i like how they leaned towards a more lizard-y appearance than the weird human with scales was happening in mk4. lore-wise it also makes sense, because he's supposed to be "devolving"/losing his shapeshifting abilities due to not being around a zaterran matriarch for so long. the outfit itself is also nice; i like the shoulder pads, and the sharp points all over it fit in well with his theme + general villainy. there's enough contrast happening to make each part of his outfit stand out, while also staying cohesive and just generally looking good.

his alternate costume is also nice! they went for a different feel with it for sure, this one gives me "stuck in a desert and forced to fend for himself" vibes... if that makes sense. it's missing his regular color scheme which is.... weird... but at least it's actually interesting to look at and not ugly. i also like the animal skulls being used as armor throughout, like he hunted them down himself & then made sure to use as much of the remains as possible. it's cool!

i also do like syzoth's shaolin monks costume. now that i'm looking at it, the mold here is pretty similar to his mkda default, just with some tweaks? there's more green in the outfit, which i like because of the contrast it creates, and i also don't mind that his face looks slightly more human-ish despite being all scaley. i know i just complained about that for his mk4 costume but that's because he was ugly there (the bandages covering everything also helps. i also really like those btw)

also! i think they should bring this skin back in mk1 because i know it would look good on him. i don't think, i know, because this is his alt in mksm:

you see that??? HUMAN!! sure he's a little teethy, but he looks SOO GOOD in his human form wearing this. i'd really like to see mk1 syzoth in the mksm costume just based on this alone because i know it'd eat. the material is right there i just need nrs to act on it.

following the game release timeline, we get to mk armageddeon, where everyone keeps their appearances from the 3d era (unless you're a character who disappeared for several games and never got new costumes). so there's nothing from there to add. then everyone dies in that game, the wb acquisition happens, and with that comes the mk9 reboot.

and like... idk how to feel about his mk9 default? it's just There for me. i really can't explain why, but there's something about this design that just feels weird to me but i have no idea what about it is throwing me off. it's not an awful design but it's just. boring to me for some reason. also i've never liked how only one of his shoulders has a shoulder pad; it's just a super random asymmetrical element to introduce in a design that is otherwise symmetrical. could at least make it big and dramatic or something but noooo

i.. do not like this. it's a pretty big departure from the vibes his outfits have had the past few games, and not in a good way. he's supposed to be a master of stealth and i'm sorry but i can't see him being stealthy in this really clunky metal armor. maybe if he was a more knight-based character i'd be able to get behind it, but even if that were the case i'd still want to tweak some stuff. like the lack of boots feels weird (i know he's got claws but come on) with how the leg armor just cuts off, and i don't like the mask. idk, i'm not sure why nrs considered this but thank god they didn't go with it

on the flip side, you have the mk9 concept art where he's human and ohhh myyy godddd he's beautiful........

where is heeeeee 😭😭😭😭 i'm in mourning i didn't realize this existed until i started looking for all of his costumes, and i'm genuinely so sad because now this outfit will never see the light of day?????? he looks so good?????? the only thing i would change is the shade of green because i feel like a more teal color would be something they give to hydro or one of the sub-zeros. but other than that this costume looks so pretty, i need it instantly

there's not much to say about mk9 syzoth besides his appearance sadly. i mean, he's there, but i swear to god he doesn't talk a single second in all his scenes in the story mode for some reason. all he did was show up, get his ass beat, then leave. and sadly, this carried on into mkx

his default skin feels pretty similar to his alt in mk9 in terms of silhouette, which makes me wish they'd been a bit more creative with this design, but besides that i like it. i was a big fan of the bones in his mkda alt and it's nice to see some incorporated again into another reptile outfit. it makes me curious if zaterrans have some sort of rituals/traditions regarding bones, but mk rarely elaborates on zaterran lore so #whoknows

my only real complaint about it besides the similarity to his mk9 alt, is that there's virtually zero green in his outfit (which also bothers me abt his mkda alt outfit now that i think about it). yeah syzoth's skin is green already, but it's been shown in games such as mksm that you can have syzoth be a green-skinned reptilian while also allowing his outfit to have a pop of color. there should at least be green accents if nothing else. like his tournament skin!

i want them to bring this back in mk1 so we can see syzoth boobs huh who said that. hahaha!

but yeah i like his mkx alt a lot.......... the little tears in the cloth make syzoth look more roughed up, but that's probably the point. he's existed as the last of his kinda, working for the most heinous of men to try and bring back his species, for years. dude's gonna need to stitch some of his clothes back together lmao. i'm glad they retconned this to be his outfit from the tournament rather than the mk9 one, because it feels less lacking to me.

the only other official skin (besides the klassic) syzoth has in mkx is the kraken skin

i like the concept of this one, i really enjoy when they do fun themed skins like this! my only issue is that the gold plate on his face feels really out of place, especially beacuse he's not wearing anything else? iirc there was an option to not have it, which... thank god lol. i also wish his skin was more green rather than the actual colors they went with, but i can excuse it since a kraken is a more underwater creature.

before i move on from mkx i need to talk about syzoth's concept art because holy shit does it rule

congratulations because we're in the final stretch 🎉🎉 we have arrived to mk1

this is the best fucking default skin syzoth has had in any of these games and no you cannot argue with me. if you were not there when the banished trailer first dropped then i feel bad for you because literally everyone was rejoicing over mk1 syzoth. not only was every single reptile fan happy that he's a good guy & no longer desperately trying to bring his species back, but his mk1 design is flawless!!!!! this is probably my favorite design they've done for him yet because it's so fucking good!!!!

i complained about his mkx default not having any green, and they fixed their mistake becasue he has green in his outfit again. but it's not like an overwhelming amount of green, if that makes sense. i mourned him not having a tail in the previous few games, and while syzoth is tail-less in his human form the loincloth mimicking a tail in the back makes up for it & is just a super smart design choice. i also love the little storytelling elements in his default.... at first glance syzoth just looks like your average masked ninja, but upon further inspection you can point out all the little reptilian motifs in his design; from the tattoos to the silhouette of his outfit, and the scale textures scattered about. not to mention the keys at his hip hint at his role as shang's slave without fully spoiling his storyline in mk1. one time i saw someone say this outfit sucks and i'm sorry but i can't trust anyone who doesn't like syzoth's mk1 default, because again this is arguably the best he has ever looked. nrs did a good job by finally settling the "reptilian vs human" debate that was happening with reptile fans by just making him both!!!! they cooked SO fucking good with syzoth in mk1, which i'm happy about because for years now he was literally one of mk's favorite punching bags. all fans of syzoth wanted was for him to be happy and have an important story role, and he finally got that (even if it cost him a wife and kid and some of his mental health).

i have talked for way too long, and i think i've gone over his mk1 costumes in a different ask, so i will be brief:

uol is ass, only rivaled by mk4. burn them both to the ground

ood has to be one of my favorite looks for him, it feels like something he would've worn in the previous games, in a good way. big fan of the spikes and scales everywhere

i like his earthrealm skin but at the same time he's got to be sweating under there lol. the only thing i actually dislike about it is that i wish they didn't remove his face tattoo but other than that it's great. i really want his jacket

i did not get syzoth's christmas skin because i didn't have enough krystals at the time and it haunts me. every day. this is his only skin i don't have, and i wish i had just caved and bought some krystals for it. look at him he's so cute 😭😭😭 you can tell they had fun with this one. the dumb pointed shoes with bells are hilarious, his candy cane tattoos are really cute, and he genuinely looks like a really silly elf. you also can't tell because his hood is up but they even colored his hair white!!!! im obsessed with the little details on this skin

ALSO WHEN YOU HAVE HIS XMAS SKIN EQUIPPED HIS ZATERRAN FORM HAS SPRINKLES!!! AND CHOCOLATE AROUND THE MOUTHHH which he probably shouldnt be eating bc syzoth canonically cannot stomach human food.

So the theme for guests in mkx was slashers, in mk11 was dad movies and now in mk1 it’s super heroes huh

I am not a big fan of guests in general but I think these look kinda fun. I would rather have more returning characters yes but they look kinda fun

Really happy about Takeda and Ermac. Not sure if I am a fan of Ermac’s new design, I couldn’t even tell it was them at first. Quan Chi wasn’t on my top list but the more the merrier right

(Also I guess none of these three exist normally in the newest timeline - at least not yet in Takeda’s case)

As for the regular characters, I am really happy about Tanya, she has never been one of my favs but I really like how she looks in this and omg canon storyline with Mileena in the main story! So far I think I will try playing as her first! I also loved seeing Li Mei, again not someone I played much as but it’s nice to see her returning after so long!

I was expecting Baraka to be announced soon, the guy is always there. No really, I think he was in all the games I played. This is good

I am still wondering about that lady. I guess she is probably just a warrior npc but she did remind me of Khameleon and I would love to see her even if just as a kameo

Speaking of kameos that guy whose name I always forget showed up, first time in a long time

I don’t want to get my hopes too high but the leak did say they intended to bring every character as a kameo right? That would be a dream to me. Regardless, getting to see Sektor and Cyrax in their klassic looks in hd was amazing, and the other kameos all seem to have their original outfits as well, so this is fun

(Honestly, considering that mk11 is so full of references to the characters that don’t show up there, including even konsumables themed after them, I can see this being something they would want to do if they can. Not sure if it’s realistic to expect it, since there are limits on what fits a game and what can be developed for a game in a given time and stuff. I will be happy with whoever else we get to see, each new kameo is a bonus for me)

The only thing so far I am not happy about is that Sonya seems to be only a kameo :( I hope I am wrong, and at least she is there, but I wish she was a regular playable character

Nothing to say about the story, trailers aren’t good for forming opinions on it, and at this point I seem to be more focused on playing experience. Which is weird since I loudly and proudly say I don’t like playing video games (I like video games, I just don’t like playing them. And I really hate the competition part of it, but that’s talk for another day)

I am extra focused on figuring out which character I will play when I get my hands on this game, since Noob won’t be there (maybe kameo??) and Sonya may be only a kameo and Cassie probably won’t be there unless as dlc and I don’t think Ashrah will return as playable so of all characters I had as main in all mk games I played, there’s only Kitana available that we know so far but I was never really good with her (I am currently playing her character tower in mk11, got to Kronika, I am hoping to beat her this next week). I wanted to go for Sub-Zero since he is Bi-Han and Noob is my most recent main, but as I said before my sister has Subs as her main since forever and she will be pissed if I “copy her”. I will only really know who to pick once I start playing the game so we’ll see… maybe next year or later

This system in mk1 is heaven for me

Mastery looks like it can take a while but it doesn’t seem seasonal so I can take my time

The shrine can be completely, I saw people actually saying that

Invasions is fun. I got to level 30 today. I still need to do the areas you open after beating the boss and also the puzzles. I finally learned how to do the kameo fatalities (there wasn’t anything too different from regular fatalities, it seems I just got the distance or maybe timing wrong)

Now I guess it’s just trying to get more season coins so I can get as much as stuff as I can from the season shop. I don’t think the mastery rewards are going anywhere but I will end up moving on it while getting season coins, and I will get regular coins too (idk if the shrine rewards go anywhere after season changes but getting as much art as I can now should make it easier to get any seasonal stuff at any point). Since the three, mastery xp and season coins and regular coins, seem to go hand in hand, you get all the same way, it’s very easy to know what to do next and progress in one goal is progress in all of them

I will get the story mode stuff eventually, I am playing with sis so we do it when we are both free. I’m not planning on buying from the premium shop but nothing there looks super cool either so. I saw what the kl stuff looks like and it doesn’t look super cool either. I hope it continues like this, the kl stuff in mk11 looked very cool and it almost made me regret not having a ps plus account (just almost, because honestly online looks like hell)

Day of the Dead Bi-Han looks nice though. If I get the chance to get him for free at any point, I will use it (Kangaceiro Kano and Cold War Skarlet were at some point in Race Against Time)

Idk I also think not having a full list full of locked things in the customize menu makes me feel better. I thought it could be extra stressing since i2 felt extra stressing, but I guess the duplicates and the stats and having to control inventory size were the true culprits there

From the items I have seen so far, the ones I really want at the moment are that Scorpion skin from the seasonal store with the long-ish hair, and that Rain skin without the hood. And I guess the maskless gear for everyone who has it

(And the mixnmatchies my beloveds, I really hope we will get some of their stuff at some point)

Those are the ones I really want as soon as possible. The rest, some stuff caught my eye but I am willing to wait

I thought I would be more excited about Ashrah with a hat but it didn’t catch me, maybe bc I didn’t see it in the white palette yet. Reptile has a nice skin that shows up in Invasions sometimes but idk how to describe it. Kitana’s story mode look, you know the one, is also nice. Actually, that other one that has a matching Mileena, I also liked both of those. Johnny and Kenshi both have some really nice palettes, even for their regular skins

I also want some cooler stuff for the kameos, I don’t even know if they have it. So far I think I unlocked the player 2 palettes for most or all (plus Sonya’s mk3 skin) but I am hoping they have some funkier colors in there somewhere at least

(I mean, what I really wanted was the human skins for Sektor and Cyrax, but I doubt that’s happening)

Oh, and the randomize option apparently doesn’t randomize at every Invasions map, it seems to pick one option when I pick the character and sticks with it (even if I change characters and then go back to the first). Which is still amazing, I will get to actually use everything I unlock without having to go in customize all the time! I am using randomize all for a couple of characters and set options for the rest (I really want to enjoy my tattooed guys and my black outfit Bi-Han for a while), but I’m already marking favorites to use the randomize favorites option later. I don’t have a second controller yet but I look forward to showing off my stuff in local 2p

I wish towers had intro dialogue. Local against cpu has it but it doesn’t give coins or xp

Hypothetically speaking, how many season coins would I need to buy everything from the seasonal shop?

I got a confirmation that they do reset and that the shop does rotate, so it would be nice to know what the goal for the season is
