My favorite child... this is the only design from the original series of nine dragons I created for this concept that has persisted unchanged over the years because it's just SO baby. Long-held pipe dream for this dragon is to create a lemgthy plushie of it but unfortunately I think it might be too weird for that

A Colorful Day Exploring the Artists Drive in Death Valley National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout along Artists Dr with a view looking to the northeast to one of the many multi-colored mountainsides around the Artist Palette Peak area. This is in Death Valley National Park. My thought on composing this image was a more or less leveled-on view of the mountainside with that many colors, while using the blues of the skies above as a color contrast to complement the earth-tones on the mountainside.

Prickly pear dragon from my Dracoflora II series, inspired by Opuntia macrocentra! This design is destined to be enamel pin-ified and is currently available for preorder on Kickstarter until October 24th.

I'm a desert girlie (gender neutral) at heart and I really wanted to do some kind of cactus for Series II. The first Dracoflora set was focused on succulents but didn't include any actual cacti, which is something I've regretted for years.

Most of these dragons take inspiration from more than just plants, such as animals, concepts, objects, etc., and this guy is also inspired by a horny toad! (and... Godzilla. My favorite animal) It was a tossup between that or a gila monster but the shared spikiness won out in the end
