The knuckle holes worked!! 😃

The fingers *will* come out if you try to remove them, but they don't yeet themselves across the room anymore if you look at them wrong.

Thankfully, the thumb socket worked fine as-is. I have no idea where I could've drilled slack holes for it 😅

The wrist sockets were also fine (first thing I tested), probably because they already *have* slack holes.

sometimes i think about the fact that regina has literally held emma’s heart in her hands. the intimacy of soft fingers slipping under layers of skin and bone and blood and pulling out the muscle that keeps emma alive. cradled in the palm of her hand, glowing, still beating. regina having to be so gentle so as to not hurt her. and emma allowing regina to have that power over her. and then i think about the fact that regina’s fingers were bare and not gloved. the way she could feel every vein, every groove. the way she was not limited in her ability to see all of emma. something about the way regina handed the heart back to emma. placed it into the palm of her hand like an offering. look, i kept it safe for you, i love you, do you trust me?

The Bionicle hands I ordered on Shapeways just arrived! I love the little box they came in, it's perfectly sized to be a minifigure jail cell:

something about people calling vrisrezi "toxic yuri" always puts me off. i understand the lack of words to really put their dynamic but like you know theyre in a relationship thats largely good for them right. they arent dating because "it sucks but it would be worse without each other" they genuinely really love each other a lot

Alicent's approach to motherhood is a lot like the kingsguard approach to knighthood, when you really think about it.

In ASOIAF when Jaime gets knighted as a teenager, there are strong parallels to a maiden being deflowered. The cloak, like a wedding cloak, and the blood spilled on the white, like the virgin blood spilled on a wedding bed sheet, and how Jaime is all starry-eyed and hopeful right before the whole myth of knighthood comes crashing down into cold, ugly reality, and etc.

I think Alicent has that going on but just with a different romanticized social role. Her path to honor and nobility had to involve becoming a mother and conducting herself in a certain way, because of her place in society. Even if she hadn't married a king, she'd have been married off to someone, and been expected to produce heirs and to raise them for him. Motherhood is presented as this noble pursuit for women in her society. But in the hard light of reality, it's not nearly as glamorous or morally concise of a lifestyle as it purports to be. She'll put herself between her kids and threats, just like a knight defending his liege, but we never see her actively enjoy motherhood and she clearly struggles to connect with her kids on an interpersonal level. Just like how Jaime got knighted ridiculously young, Alicent got married ridiculously young. Just like Jaime struggled between doing the morally correct thing vs doing "his duty", Alicent struggles between doing what she wants and doing what's expected of her as a mother.

It's all about the way that restrictive social roles make people miserable.

thinking about kevin growing up in the nest and having to learn defense mechanisms to literally survive but are now the main criticisms his teammates have against him. and no one (besides jean) really know the fully extent of what he went through bc of the public persona and brick wall of self preservation he had to put up.

like he’s an asshole perfectionist about exy bc it was literally beat into him since childhood. running in 16 hour days since who knows how young he was and deprived of food and sleep when a drill was not performed perfectly

the world saw him and riko as brothers but riko was never kind to him. he hated playing the role as second best but it’s how he could make it through each day with one less injury. he was on eggshells nearly every second of the day because he was almost never out of riko’s sight. he learned how how navigate every mood until riko became too unhinged to navigate and by then he was so trapped in his role that he couldn’t fight back from riko and he couldn’t let the team know that he wasn’t just number 2 but he was a pet to riko. he was a bitch to his teammates to distract from what riko was doing to him and jean but also from so much built up anger inside for the person he could not escape
