a spell is cast on camelot that thins the veil enough for ghosts to appear. the catch? the ghosts that appear are spirits of people that were killed by the person they’re haunting. the knights have a good amount of bandits/raiders/whatever that they took down in battle, maybe a few shady knights have genuinely innocent people that they murdered and got away with. the executioner’s killings are transferred to the king since he was simply acting out the king’s commands. arthur has quite a few. uther has hundreds of sorcerers in various states of gore and horror. those who were hanged have perpetually bent necks, those who were beheaded have either no head or just a head floating a bit above their body, and those who were burnt are more charred remains (the most grisly of them all). merlin has more than anyone expected (which was zero) and all of them keep calling out for arthur/uther’s death and camelot’s downfall while also turning to merlin and calling him a traitor.

There's something so haunting about the look of utter horror on Arthur's face as Dutch drowned Bronte right in front of him, the full shot just hurts

Arthur was looking up in horror, John was looking down in disappointment

Finally decided to play Red Dead Redemption 2. God I should've played this game a long time ago. But anyway, one of my favorite things about this game, and it's at the top of my list, is Arthur singing softly to himself while on horseback. That little detail is perfect to me.

I sympathize with arthur for a myriad of reasons but one of them was that he couldn’t get out of his own way when it came to dutch’s fall from grace before it was too late.
from the very beginning he was skeptical when it came to dutch’s plans, when it came to comparing the pragmatism behind said plans to the improbability of them taking shape. arthur wasn’t necessarily vocal when it came to his doubts towards dutch himself, but he found his outlets in john or other gang members to voice his concern. over what happened in blackwater. over the grandeur of his aspirations to unearth some kind of safe haven or paradise where they could disappear from civilization.
post-the trolley mission in saint denis is where arthur risks putting his hand on the stove. it’s from here on out that dutch’s composure begins to rattle, where he begins to snuff out doubt and shoot accusations. when the whole revenge plot on bronte brews arthur’s own kind of doubt, he communicates it. and not only does dutch double down on the defense, he retrofits the doubt to target arthur right back. he guilt-trips, gaslights— he does everything within his discernible power to make arthur feel bad about lacking “faith” in the man that raised him & brought him up.
arthur backpedals and basically rolls over on his belly bc…what else is he equipped to do? how could he place doubt in his mentor? the one that took him in, the one that taught him most of everything he knows? the co-dependency is what gives arthur an achilles’. it’s not that arthur can’t see the woods for the trees; he sees them most vividly. but he struggles to look at dutch’s behavior and see if it lines up with the persona he’s once projected. instinctually he sees the red flags. instinctually he hears the alarms bell sounding out dutch’s moral and ethical decadence. but he doesn’t have the toolset to navigate the space for challenging dutch’s mindset.
dutch taught arthur everything except to keep him in check

Eames calling people “darling” is second nature to him, but the moment he learns that Arthur’s surname is Darling, Eames reserves that pet name for his Arthur only.

even tho merlin constantly complains about tournaments and arthur goes on and on about glory and honor, merlin is always the loudest in the stands and arthur always finds merlin’s eye first when he wins

"if not to become human, why did you try to leave your kingdom" this question is probably going somewhere significant but ill be honest i always figured it was primarily to have an easier time chopping people into tiny pieces, which is what he was doing pretty successfully with the tiny fragment of himself in the book up until he met arthur "i'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me" lester over here

It is my month's goal to convince any one of my friends to watch a magical twink and a himbo prince dancing around each other.
And also to convince anyone who'll listen (internet or otherwise) that Sirius was the best part of Harry Potter.

thinking about how arthur shoved a dagger into his own throat to save john from the king because john's his friend and he loves him. and then when arthur finally collapses beneath all of that pain and grief and guilt he's carried for years john saves him from being buried and then saves his life in the mines and arthur believes it's because john feels the same. they're friends and they love each other so of course. of course you would do anything to save the one you love.
so he trusts him. he trusts him all the way to new york and doesn't think for a moment that there could be something amiss. that john, his best friend who killed the last person he loved and whom he himself almost willingly died for, is lying to him. again.
