Capital Ring - Section 5
Capital Ring Section 5 - a great mix of nature, architecture and historical interest. @capital_ring #walk #WalkLondon @walklondon #LoveLondon
Stratham Common to Wimbledon Park This section is different to the last as it has suburban roads as well as parks and some beautiful and interesting building along the route. We leave Streatham Common at the Northwest corner and walk down residential streets until we get to the railway line near Streatham Common station. We pass under the tracks, through a couple of colorful alleyways, probably…

The Eras Tour | Fearless section | Version 5
Roberto Cavalli custom
My very first thought upon seeing this dress was, “Oh that’s very Roberto Cavalli.” Which makes all the sense in the world why Taylor would want to time a new Cavalli creation (by Creative Director Fausto Puglisi) in Milan - one of the fashion capitals of the world and home country to both Cavalli and Puglisi.
Roberto Cavalli is known for many of its signature house code prints, like those of big cats. We see that reference in other Fausto-created pieces for Taylor on the Eras Tour such as the cat head emblem on the tops of the 1989 2.0 sets.
On this new Fearless dress, we see another classic print come to life: Roberto Cavalli’s iconic ‘Ray of Gold’ print. 'Ray Of Gold' was first introduced by the designer in 2007 and revived and recreated by Puglisi for a limited capsule collection in 2024. The original inspiration source for Cavalli was the beautiful refraction of a sunbeam on the golden facade of an art deco lighter. To me, the fan-like visual calls to mind the windblown hair toss of the Fearless cover albums.
After recreating the 'Ray of Gold' print, Roberto Cavalli CEO Sergio Azzolari told WWD that Fausto is “very respectful of Roberto, yet at the same time he succeeds in reinterpreting his style in a more contemporary way, without distorting the brand.”
There’s something refracting light meets lionfish meets Flintstones meets sand through an hourglass meets animal print about this look. Which is to say I think it looks fantastic and eye-catching. However, I personally find Versions 1 and 4 come closest to honouring the original aesthetic of the Fearless era. Your thoughts?

a jew review of: nhl team happy hanukkah posts
good evening and chag sameach to my hanukkah-celebrating pals out there on hockeyblr. today i bring you: a non-comprehensive and entirely subjective review from one (1) jewish hockey fan of the graphics posted by various nhl teams in celebration of the first night tonight. i definitely missed some, and some teams didn't post any at all, so it's a bit patchwork. here we go.
vancouver canucks: this is an extremely serviceable graphic. love the blurred dreidels to give the effect that they are spinning. very funny. props for the detail that there is a shadow of the menorah on the ice. straightforward. icemenorah is a themeTM but some did it better than others and this is a classic. 7/10
post continues under the cut for the sake of your dash and mine.
carolina hurricanes: obsessed with what the canes have done here though i cannot comprehend it. the weird techno style textured background. the out of focus magen david around. THE HURRICANES. IN HEBREW. WITH THE LITTLE CANES LOGO THING I FORGET THE NAME OF ON THE HEI? INCREDIBLE. points for creativity. overall baffling vibes. 6/10.
pittsburgh penguins: this is just adorable. you hired someone to draw this. spectacular work, guys. it's giving a bit of 'we browsed the target hanukkah deco section for inspo' but it's too adorable for me to care. it's team themed, it's hockey themed, it's holiday appropriate. love everything going on here. they get points for doing what very few other teams are doing and remembering this is night one, so only one candle is lit. most everyone else is getting a bit a head of themselves. 9/10.
washington capitals: and here we have another edition of the icemenorah, with a minimalist twist. this graphic screams 'oh fuck wait is that tonight' which to be fair is also how i, a jew, felt about realizing tonight was the first night of hanukkah. could'a done more, but it's perfectly fine. 6/10.
new jersey devils: this fucks. it's got devils themes. it's got a cool style. it's got vibes. it's got: more hockey stick menorahs which i am always excited about. that shamash candle is a graphic design nightmare but other than that i am all on board. 8/10
vegas golden knights: i love the gold foil effect and that you remembered there was more to hanukkah than candles, that's nice, as is involving the other affiliates! however. where are the vibes. this is not the vgk wishes you a chag sameach, this is a greeting card i got on etsy. 6/10 just bc i KNOW you can do better. where's the neon, babes.
los angeles kings: oh this is fun. it's icemenorah: WITH A TWIST. the art style is cute, it's got plenty of hockey theme, it's also very obviously LA-y, i'm giving them points for this one. the shadow is insane but that's okay, it's ~stylistic. it's cute. 7/10. UPDATE: definitely AI. boo hiss. 0/10.
montréal canadiens: this is probably my favourite for sheer vibes. you got: levitating icemenorah. you got: action-shot candle lighting. you got: remembering this is night ONE. you got: the implication that the torch is the shamash candle????? you got: JOYEUSE HANOUKKA!!!!!!!! (and like happy hanukkah or whatever i guess). obsessed. it's so funny. it's amazing. 9/10.
#long post#happy hanukkah besties here is: SOME THOUGHTS#chag sameach!!!#vancouver canucks#carolina hurricanes#pittsburgh penguins#washington capitals#new jersey devils#vegas golden knights#los angeles kings#montréal canadiens

In Your Eyes
Summary: Clark isn't much of a morning person, but your eyes are enough to get him out of bed each day. (Clark Kent x reader)
Word Count: 2.1K
Notes: First Clark and this piece nearly had me dead on my feet (simply just tired- after this month I need to take a holiday and move house soooo). Fun Fact: I was actually the biggest superman fan when I was younger so he's kind of like my comfort now haha. Not really any warnings on this one, general mentions of violence again? angst? Either way, it hurt doing this to my boy.
Enjoy~!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Clark wasn't particularly a morning person.
In fact, the longer he could stay curled in his sheets he preferred. Working as Superman was hard, but not nearly as hard as being a reporter at the Daily Planet. He worked long nights before getting changed into his suit, his headlines, deadlines and taglines rattling around his skull while he did his patrol. Even with his Kryptonian stamina and ability to synthesise the sun for energy, it did nothing to stop the tiredness endemic of working a nine-to-five for the sake of capitalism.
You however, rose for the sun. Gently shaking his shoulder each morning, greeting him with a soft smile that fooled his eyes into thinking the sun was already up. He'd groan, smile in return and pretend to roll over to go back to sleep, making you giggle. It never lasted long, and you'd flop on top of him, draping your arms over his stomach before pinching at the skin playfully.
"Rise and shine, sleeping beauty." you'd say, pushing at him to get him up. He'd just huff and bury his face into the pillow.
"The sun isn't even up." he'd tiredly protest, sound muffled.
"Yeah, but it's about to be." you'd laugh before moving off of him, slipping out of bed to get dressed. He'd just watch you through one eye lazily, studying the way that you would flit around the bedroom so effortlessly. Humming softly to yourself you never noticed how his eyes clung to your figure, the slope of your shoulders and the arch in your spine. Unaware of the lovestruck gaze he'd send your way as you got changed, pulling on clothes for the day and washing your face.
When you made coffee he'd finally rouse himself, pulling him from the warm embrace of the bedsheets to seek yours out instead. He'd hug you from behind, leaning his weight on you and cheek pressed into your hair. Inhaling softly, his senses were alight with the smell of coffee and your shampoo, soothing his irritation of being woken before dawn. "Double shot." he'd mumble sleepily into your hair. "Please."
"Already added," you say with a smile, finishing his coffee first. You take in in your hands, turning to the side so you can offer it up to him. He moves one hand from your hip to grip the mug, bringing it to his lips and taking a sip.
"Thank you, honey." he murmurs with a sigh, unwrapping from you so you can make your own. He watches how you busy yourself, slow yet methodical in your movements. He leans his chin in his hand, set up at kitchen counter and a lazy smile on his face. He might not have liked mornings, but he sure as hell liked you.
Your morning routine was always followed by getting changed, checking each other’s outfits and making sure you were both presentable for work. You also worked at the Daily Planet, being introduced to him as a reporter previously at the Gotham Gazette. The darkness of Gotham had gotten to you, the constant reporting on crime, corruption and the latest murder on the block slowly wearing away your soul. So, you had moved to Metropolis with its art deco buildings and lit streets for a change of pace.
He could tell from the first time his eyes met yours, that you were meant for Metropolis.
Clark didn’t want to be biased, doing his best not to be swayed by the thudding in his chest and ears every time he saw you. Yet he still couldn't help the thought popping into his mind every time you passed his desk or waved to him in the mail room. The way the tension eased out of your shoulders day by day, getting to report on new things. As you wrote about medical breakthroughs and charity events instead of gangs and mob violence, your smile peeked out of the shadows. You took the stories no one else wanted to take, the local library art competition, the national science fair, the new displays at the museum. The stories no one else wanted to fight for, his coworkers all stepping over each other for a scoop on Superman or the latest minor crime to rack the Metropolis streets.
Clark could see though.
The same way he could see the darkness that clung to Bruce, like a shadowed cloak heavy on the shadows of all Gothamites. Your pen was already heavy with death and violence, desensitised and numb. The way that your eyes cringed slightly when Perry asked you to take larger articles. You finally got to report on the positive, got to embrace the things that came so easily in Metropolis, yet you fought tooth and nail for in Gotham.
So, who could blame him when he fell in love?
He had worked up the courage to ask you for a date, which turned into two and three. On the fourth he might have accidentally revealed his identity as Superman, but you promised to keep his secret before kissing him breathlessly. Now you were in his apartment, your apartment together, making coffee. Clark was sur that this is what heaven was like.
his favourite part of the morning, however, was going to work together. You were close enough to walk to work, and you'd show up to work hours before anyone else, an hour before the sun showed its face. In the dark you both would scan and drop your bags at your desk before heading for the stairs, his hand on your back the whole time to make sure that you don’t trip or fall. When you unlock the door to the roof a cool gust of air hits your face, making you sigh happily while he winces slightly at the sudden breeze. Every morning you'd sit there together, watching the sun come up.
When that golden orb began painting the sky a beautiful pink and orange, he woke up fully. The beams settling onto his skin made his DNA thrum with energy, as if his cells were waking up as well. It was a shot of energy stronger than anything coffee could give him, muscles relaxing under the touch of its light. He loved the feeling of the sun, the warmth, the light, the gentle caress of the morning and the last hug of it before it set in the evenings. Yet all of that was nothing compared to the way he felt when he looked over at you.
You always wore the softest smile as you watched the sun come up, the gorgeous colours of the sky mixing with the shine of your irises. Clark felt like was looking into galaxies more beautiful than any other he had seen in space, and endless sea of colour and warmth he wanted to dive into. Every morning without fail it made his heart overflow, and he could never resist pulling you to him softly and dropping a soft kiss into your hair. It was his favourite way to watch the sunrise, through your eyes instead of his. He'd look at your eyes no matter how many skies you sat under, just to see if what you saw was different. You always looked up with such amazement and wonder that Clark was convinced you saw a different sky from him. When he took you home to meet his parents, the purples trails of the cloud looked like fields of lavender in your eyes, the blue of the clear sky appearing as an endless ocean. You had both been sitting out on the fence, pressed into his side to block out the sting of autumn's chill. He had kissed you on the head like he now did every morning, and that's when Clark realised that he wanted every day to be like this. Wanted to be able to look into your eyes every morning to try and get just a glimpse of what wonder you managed to capture in your gaze.
So, he had proposed.
The backdrop was the farm visiting his parents, under the tree down by the creek. He had waited for the most beautiful sunset, the dusk just beginning to settle in and stars peeking through the soft blanket of purple and pink. when you said yes, the joy and sparkle in your eyes had been something unmatched still to this day, outshining every star that had twinkled to cheer him on that evening. As soon as you said yes it felt like his heart had soared to the heavens, and finally, he could see those eyes every morning for as long as he lived.
When Clark wakes up one morning without the gentle shaking of his shoulder or your coffee on the counter, he barely makes it to work. He drops his bag as usual, walking up the stairs and settling on the roof, legs over the edge of the building. He sits there, waiting in the darkness. He turns his head, hoping each time that he'd see you walk through those doors and apologise for being late. For not making him a coffee, for not calling ahead and telling him you weren't going to be in work. For not coming home.
You had been called back to Gotham for family business, and the darkness you had finally managed to shake from your shoulders finally got you. He had received the call from Batman, not Bruce, making his heart lurch. Bruce had been the best man at his wedding (shocking a plethora of guests), so of course he knew what you looked like. Knew that it was you even when you were splayed out over the pavement, unseeing and still. You were friends with Bruce as well, and Bruce’s own pain was evident in the sombre tone as he tried to break the news to Clark.
Clark had flown over there, his best friend intercepting him before he could get close to the scene. He hadn't even been allowed to help, forced to sit in the shadows knowing that you were right there metres away and he couldn’t touch you, hold you, confirm for himself what he had heard over the phone.
Gang violence. A mugging gone wrong. Another victim, just another number.
And now you had become the thing you hated writing about, a death so common in the city of Gotham that you didn't even make front lines like it would have in Metropolis. You were on the fifth page, the ninth name down on a list.
Clark felt sick.
He felt sick being called in to ID your body and seeing the face he loved so much. Staring dully upon the cheeks he'd pepper with kisses every morning and every night before bed, the shoulders that held up his chin when he read over your shoulder or to watch a video you wanted to show him. The hands that interlocked with his so perfectly when you walked together held limply and empty at your side, unable to ever feel the warmth of his palms again.
So, when you were gone and it had sunk in fully, he struggled to get back.
Things around him seemed to fall apart, things that even the support of Bruce and the financial aid couldn't fix. Yet the one thing he kept together was the routine, dragging himself like a zombie through the behaviours so deeply engraved in his muscle memory. Even if he wanted to sleep in his body woke up like clockwork, spectral hands rousing him, and he could dream that you really were there. That when he rolled over, he'd see you beaming back at him. His hand ached to escort you up the stairs of the Planet, uncomfortably heavy by his side instead.
He’d turn to drop a kiss into your hair but was always met with air, and he'd falter. Then the sun would come up and the energy would zing across his skin, but the morning after he lost you was the darkest sunrise he had felt to date. The beams would fuel him, humming across his cells and stirring his DNA. Yet he’d still stare out at the sunrise, the colours mixing across the sky in a beautiful display. He couldn't get his heart to fall in love with the sky again, nor warm at the image of it. After all, you were now looking at a completely different sky from him, and the sky just wasn't as pretty when it wasn't reflected in your eyes.
Clark just hoped that wherever you were now, that you had the most beautiful sky to look at. That somewhere, you were out there, galaxies reflected in your eyes that never had to close again.

This lush penthouse in Lima, Peru is a plant lovers dream. 3bds, 3.5ba, reduced from $4.5M to $3.7M.
Is this not a stunning living room with a full 2-story view of the roof top garden? Look at the wonderful shelf-lined mezzanine above, too.
Hanging plants frame the entrance to the magnificent conservatory, directly open to the dining room.
A more casual sitting room is also open to the conservatory and has a beautiful black marble fireplace.
Here's a small, cozy sitting area with sliding doors to the patio decorated with potted plants.
Is this not amazing? Imagine sitting here among the gorgeous plants? Now, I wonder if they convey.
This is the epitome of bringing the outdoors in.
This is crazy. I wouldn't want it if the plants don't come with it. Then, it's beautiful, but empty. Look at the potted plants on the above shelf.
View from above shows the sizes of the mature plants. Just amazing, aren't they?
Love the Art Deco furnishings, too.
Speaking of Art Deco, how cool is this bathroom?
Family room off the mezzanine.
The spacious primary bedroom opens to the mezzanine and lush greenery along the railing. I recently saw a possible reason why the most expensive homes never show a kitchen- b/c the wealthy don't care about such matters as cooking. They have a chef for that. Could be plausible.

XII The Bridge
Oh mama - what does capitalism mean?
The refurbishment of XII The Bridge, an art-deco inspired apartment block has been completed by Parchment, Paper & Co.
With relaxed planning rules, and a substantial bung to some of the weaker members of the planning department, it was finally agreed that an extra floor could be added.
So, there are now five, two bedroomed apartments in the block.
If you're interested call the P,P&C hotline on the usual premium rate number. Ask for Olivia, who will keep you gassing as she gets a cut of the premium rate cash.

THEORY ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I was looking stuff up about tarot because I'm a big proponent of fool Ratio and was hoping to find some more straws to grasp at, and I came across the oldest preserved tarot deck, which is the Visconti-Sforza or Pierpont Morgan deck.
And I was like oh that's crazy that I'm here looking for Star Rail lore and I find reference to Pierpont, which sounds a lot like Pier Point, the name of IPC headquarters.
Looking at the cards, they all have this gold embossed diamond pattern in the background that I think looks similar to the diamond/triangle motif in the Stonehearts Myriad Celestia.
Tarot is also heavily influenced by Egyptian mythology, so I think it's interesting that there are also references to that in the Stonehearts video (Aventurine's trial with the scale, Sugilite's statues of Anubis).
But anyway back to Pierpont, it turns out the cards were purchased by the Morgan Museum in New York, which is now open to the public, but started out as a massive private collection owned by John Pierpont Morgan, better know as J.P. Morgan, the uber-wealthy investment banker of the late 1800s/early 1900s. It's giving preservation, AND it's giving capitalism, the IPC's literal two favorite things.
Wikipedia also says that he "specialized in taking over businesses that were promising but struggling," which kind of sounds like the IPCs whole business model with what we know about Topaz's backstory and Belobog.
I also think all of this ties in really well with the like New York art deco imagery in the Myriad Celestia.
I don't know if I think the Stonehearts are supposed to correspond to the major arcana 1:1... some of them I can see like maybe Aventurine = Wheel of Fortune or Jade = the Lovers (because of references to the Garden of Eden), but there are more major arcana than stonehearts + Diamond. There are 14 of those cards surviving in the Visconti-Sforza set but that is still more than 11.
I don't feel like any of this is super conclusive but I just feel like there's something here. Does anyone have thoughts or anyone who actually knows about tarot have something to add? <3

✦ THIRD-WORLD PUNKS ✦ INTRODUCTION
“Who are we? We are the global South, that large set of creations and creatures that has been sacrificed to the infinite voracity of capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, and all their satellite-oppressions. We are present at every cardinal point because our geography is the geography of injustice and oppression. We are not everyone; we are those who do not resign themselves to sacrifice and therefore resist. We have dignity. We are all indigenous peoples because we are where we have always been, before we had owners, masters, or bosses, or because we are where we were taken against our will and where owners, masters, or bosses were imposed on us. They want to impose on us the fear of having a boss and the fear of not having a boss, so that we may not imagine ourselves without fear. We resist. We are widely diverse human beings united by the idea that the understanding of the world is much larger than the Western understanding of the world. We believe that the transformation of the world may also occur in ways not foreseen by the global North. We are animals and plants, biodiversity and water, earth and Pachamama, ancestors and future generations—whose suffering appears less in the news than the suffering of humans but is closely linked to theirs, even though they may be unaware of it.” — Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Epistemologies of the South: Justice Against Epistemicide.
We are THIRD-WORLD PUNKS, a blog devoted to cultivating a dark-academia aesthetic inspired by Latin America and the UK Punk Scene. I'm your host, PHILOSOPHIKA, a 33-year-old British and Colombian philosopher specialising in aesthetics (the branch of philosophy that studies concepts such as beauty and ugliness and investigates the nature of art and the senses) and anti-totalitarian ethics. Keep reading to learn more about the aesthetic's main goals, sources of inspiration, and suggested hashtags.
✦ OUR MISSION
To create a Latin American take on the 'dark academia' aesthetic from the perspective of the region's actual inhabitants. The T.W.P. aesthetic actively avoids depicting the region as a holiday destination (fruity drinks, trendy hotels, sexy pool boys, designer sunglasses, etc.) or representing the culture through a tourist's eyes (for example, as exclusively consisting of festivals or big public events). This aesthetic should provide the viewer with an intimate portrait of what it's actually like to call this region home. Images of local food, daily customs, traditional clothing, distinctive architecture, weather patterns, etc., are encouraged.
To provide a modern fusion between Latin American (principally Colombian) and UK culture that does not reproduce the aesthetics of British colonialism. To this end, the T.W.P. aesthetic steers clear of antique botanical prints, colonial uniforms, overly beige colour palettes, floral chintz wallpapers or decorative accents, leather trunks, and/or anything even faintly reminiscent of a plantation. Emphasis is placed instead on UK Punk fashion and culture (think Camden Market and Vivienne Westwood), extravagant and eclectic UK (& European) architecture and interior design, and Oxbridge academia vibes.
To challenge what traditional academia looks and feels like, as well as its core tenets (eurocentrism, US-centrism, elitism, abelism, etc.). The T.W.P aesthetic celebrates and encourages out-of-the-box thinking, ethnic and racial diversity, neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ higher education experiences, as well as discussions of postcolonial, queer, and feminist theory, among others (think TWAIL: Third-World Approaches to International Law). Quotations, reading lists, book recommendations or reviews, and catchphrases along these lines are welcome.
✦ SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
— art deco/decopunk — art nouveau — solarpunk— steampunk — gutterpunk — latin american geography, flora & fauna — latin american culture — spanish colonial architecture — pre-columbian latin america — 70's & 80's uk punk scene — elements of cyberpunk — alternative fashion — maximalism — haute boheme aesthetic

Also as a joke, Batman goes into public domain in 2034, so just you wait
But on more serious note it's actually more likely if we go with vibes and change names and facts around so the game won't get under copyright infringement, because rn rights to dc games are owned by worner bros, and they are assholes for a bunch of various reasons
Like move Gotham to some European country with coal mines history and Gotham vibes of art Deco had sex with Soviet brutalism, switch signs around, turn batman into idk lupman and just there are ways to legally go around having exactly dc universe so the lawers won't get our asses, but also with enough nods towards the original comics we're basing it off, maybe move timelines to be in like 20/30s, that's like also lean more towards noir history
Just, ye, I know the want to make it on the dc universe, but games industry is shit about such games, Warner bros is shit about that, and nobody would trust a team that made nothing to create a game, they fall off too often. And also wb won't just allow us to do that, because even if we don't go like hey pay to us they are better off just shutting the while thing down because uh no we don't want to pay you for that we don't care. So hate to capitalism and megacorporations. Yay
Sorry to be a doomer
Name/location changing and story alterations have been suggested a couple of times before. But I’ll be frank and say it loses a lot of the appeal for me personally >.<
Like, could it still be a killer game? Absolutely! You’d have free rein with new characters, adjusted character backgrounds, characterizations, locations, story progression, etc. But the original batfam theme were all attached to would be lost.
Not to mention the additional metric ton of work that comes with inventing everything from scratch. Which, I won’t lie, might also be very fun in its own way. But I have to draw the line somewhere with how invested I can get, considering I have university to think about and also work a mini job on the side >.<
#ghost talks#games#game development#like don’t get me wrong Id still give it a try with all the OC charas but that project would eat up even more time#and that mini job is sucking my soul#not to mention university#so yeah it would be fun but— TIME#😭😔

ROUND 1 - GREEN GROUP
Propaganda under the cut.
Bellefair: [none submitted]
Tetra: "One of those fonts that's all capital letters but the actual capitals have little stylish flairs. There is a lot of ado with diamond shapes and other things that might remind you of art deco and magicians. Also shoutout to the fact that this is the only display font i own that actually has Cyrillic letters godbless" - note: i don't think this was the font the submitter was talking about but it was the only one with a font file i could find. apologies. but this one is cool too.

World Introduction
Eiffel
Being the central and largest island on the map, Eiffel has more than its fair share of influence. With its sheer breadth and wealth of history, Eiffel has set a standard the rest of the world may only strive to compete with.
While there are a plethora of striking cities known to it, none are quite so notable as the capital, Monarisse. Towering mountains and winding caves dress her shores the same as they do the rest of the land, providing an ocean of crystals that never run dry.
To Eiffel, crystals are currency as much as they are decoration. And the magic often found within them give power to the technology seldom seen in any other kingdom.
With a sprawling maze of Art Deco buildings, all dressed in a haze of precious metals, music and light and laughter pour out from every window. Cameras roar with pops and flashes, capturing monochrome photographs for the simple price of a rhinestone or two. Horseless carriages race past couples strolling hand in hand, while a blanket of stars overlook them all.
It isn’t a wonder why Katalina of Envy has made this place her home.

There are so many skyscrapers. I’m an heir to Art Deco and the cult of progress; I should idolize skyscrapers as symbols of human accomplishment. I can’t. They look no more human than a termite nest. Maybe less. They inspire awe, but no kinship. What marvels techno-capital creates as it instantiates itself, too bad I’m a hairless ape and can take no credit for such things.
-Scott Alexander, Half An Hour Before Dawn In San Francisco
